Description:
A set of regulations for cloning humans or other organisms for medical research.
AWARE that some nations do not support cloning and/or see cloning as unethical;
CONCERNED there exist nations who disagree and may utilize cloning for purposes that threaten other nations such as raising large armies;
ALTHOUGH RECOGNIZING the potential for cloning to be used in medical research in fields of disease prevention, organ transplantation, and other such fields;
FURTHER CONCERNED that if regulations are imposed upon cloning it may stop medical researchers from utilizing it;
Hereby
DEFINES a clone as a multicellular organism that is artificially made to be identical to another by means of somatic cell nuclear transfer, or other artificial means;
FURTHER DEFINES a medical facility as a hospital, laboratory, or other institution engaged in providing healthcare or researching disease.
REVOKES the ability of member nations to place bans or further regulations on cloning for research.
REQUIRES that cloning be carried out, facilitated, managed by, and contained within a medical facility;
DEMANDS that sentient human clones be treated as persons, and that any experimentation and treatment of these clones comply with existing legislation.
PERMITS all medical facilities within member nations to carry out experiments of a medical nature on clones of any species;
ENCOURAGES such experiments to take place throughout the world to fight disease and find solutions to medical issues.
