Avoiding WA Ban

Postby Caesars Legion I » Thu Nov 20, 2014 12:25 pm

My brother and I share the same computer and both had WA regions. We've been warned that they would take action against us if we didn't "rectify" the problem. My brother only rarely uses his account, so he resigned from the WA. Will I have to resign too, or is his resignation qualified as "rectification"? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I was worried that this account would permanently lose delegate status. I think they're cracking down because of groups like the Black Riders who regularly make puppet WA accounts, but that's just speculation. It's a smart thing for them to do, but I guess my bro and I got caught in the crossfire lol

Are you serious?

From the FAQ:

Unfortunately that's asking for trouble. We try to identify WA cheats accurately, but we have no way of telling exactly whose fingers are touching the keyboard at any given time. So unfortunately if you don't want to run the risk of being ejected from the WA (or worse), you shouldn't let anyone else operate WA nations from your computer, either.

Sharing a network or IP address is usually fine. The game does not rely on any single method of identifying WA cheats, but combines data from four methods to calculate the likelihood that multiple WA nations are operated by the same person.

I swear these people are just messing with us now.

News Flash:
At any given time, Game Mods are monitoring upwards of 100+ potential multis. There are generally 1-5 ejections daily, with another 2-10 new nations starting to cheat on a daily basis. Our usual procedure is to send out a WA Warning telegram (which is what Caesars Legion I received), after which they are linked to the rules, and one of them realizes what was going on and resigns peacefully and politely. We don't eject anyone until enough evidence has accumulated to make the decision indisputable, at least to our eyes. That's exactly how it's supposed to work, and it's been working that way for over a decade.

As to why they've started posting here more often, I couldn't say. It's a pity that legitimate family members are penalized for the actions of actual cheaters, but like we say, we can't tell them apart.

As a raider, I'll add that everyone I know does their very best to follow every rule around, and certainly the WA ones. Breaking them, and getting caught, is a good way to lose our entire aspect of play - and everyone get caught eventually. We often see newer players multiing, usually one every month or so, and at the least give them a stern talking-to from one raider to another. Again, we still follow the rules, and even in abstract the risk is just not worth the benefit. We do not allow multiing within our orgs. If you can prove otherwise, file a GHR, but for Raideron's sake, don't dismiss something you don't fully understand as rulebreaking just because you don't understand how it can be done within the rule.

Jesus, Hobbes, it's 2015. You can't just call someone "the color".

As a mod, I'll reinforce this. Gameplayers in general are very good about not multiing. It's usually only the noobs (and the DOS players who never cared about the rules) who abuse the system.
