[IDEA/INTEREST]Replacement of the World Assembly

I really would like to see a more... efficient and faster moving international body. Perhaps it's time to replace the WA with a new organization that runs on similar principles, but engineered for efficiency, speed, and convenience. I just wanted to run this through some WA members to get a general feel for the support of this idea.

The WA is not engineered for speed. It has thousands of members, hundreds of whom play actively, dozens of whom post on the forums. Perhaps "GA regulars" are a small group, but they are the tip of the WA iceberg.

If you find the pace too slow but like roleplaying international law, I would suggest starting a group or alliance, within your region or in the Diplomacy forums, where you will be able to move at the pace you desire. Changes to the WA are in all probability unlikely - and when they do happen, it won't be in discussion with players, but rather dumped on us without warning.

That pretty much sums up anything that I was going to say.

i suspect that you could only have efficient or faster-moving, but not both.

I agree with you 100% but the WA has been around for a very very very long time and it has always governed us, if we were to change it what would be the repercussions? These are important things to be considered. But remeber that I do fulley show my support for you.

The WA has only been around since 2008 and hasn't always governed us. Before the WA there was the NSUN, which was pretty terrible for the first few years of its existence.

In all fairness, the game staff did consult with players before the last big changes to the GA categories last year, and also consulted when they cooked up that horrid Repeal/Replace-combo idea a couple years back (which has thankfully been shelved). Hopefully this means they learned their lesson from the C&C debacle.

OOC Everyone knows, dear. Doesn't make it funny or appropriate.

"Ahm, no, sorry. I'd rather have an efficient and precise government than a fast but inefficient one."

OOC: Never!

I think thats actually even more illegal than what the author is suggesting.

OOC if you want a different WA because this one is too mainstream for you, of something, I would advise finding a region with an active government

To be fair I have no idea if the GA actually does anything besides RP

If anything, they've learned that consulting the players is a terrible idea, because there will just be a never-ending shouting match based on personal rivalries, rather than a coherent debate on what's best for the game. ;)

One third of the players (and by that I mean the active ones) don't know what the game is in the first place.
One third doesn't care.
The remaining third are totally opposed to what this game is and try their best to make the same something that it is not.

Careful there, Brother Maynard. You're getting pretty close to my plagerizing my patented breakdown of how the Ambassadors in the Festering Snakepit votes, old bean.
