Um, that's not what I'm trying to do at all. If you read the OP, I'm actually trying to reach out to new players, by helping them get in on inside jokes they may not "get." Yeah, a lot of this stuff is really old-skool, but still may be referenced from time to time, and for confused readers, hopefully this will help. But if you don't get it, fine. Can't please everyone.

Anyway...

No, we are not a nation of cat people. We're all humans (and a few annoying gnomes) here. The cat's just there because our king is such a genius, he saw that it would be a good military strategy to have a distractingly cute flag, to blind our enemies to (our) victory!

I was confused when I saw this, till I learned it's also (and more popularly) called the Rubber Stamp Brigade. Though you're right, "Rubber Stamp Army" does have a certain ring to it that RSB lacks...

Also, Fine Yeldan Cheeses. Not having anything to do with rubber-stamping; just another meme.

Just ran a quick forum search, and let me just say, Holy Fraking Fuck, there's a shitload of "herby" here!

While I certainly don't disagree with the phenomenon, I don't think there's a universal term for it.

Actually, I've been mildly curious for some years now about a phrase found in certain (generally older nations') forum sigs: Ideological Bulwark #X, where X = a one- to three-digit number, with no further elaboration.

What ideology? Bulwark of what? Against what? Was there some conspiracy that everyone just sort of gradually forgot about? Or what?

OK, added Herby, Rubber Stamp Brigade and Stomping/Stacking, just so the more modern-day memes are better represented. I may take out the stacking thing, however, since it's not really a joke or meme. "Stomp" is a bit more "jokey," just because it sounds funnier. :meh:

Anyway, I also plan to wikify this...maybe once I'm done updating the WA Timeline. So, three weeks from never.

I loved the touching little memorial to Jimmy Hart. He was the best.

I'd include "Green" as meme in the WA.

People, pay no attention to the paranoid rantings of this conspiratorial lunatic! There is no such thing as "Ideological Bulwarks," just like there's no such thing as bigfoots, Jersey devils, chupacabras, [violets] or unibots!! They're all figments of players' overactive imaginations! So everyone just calm down and remember that just because someone says they've seen something, it doesn't mean-- hey what's that over there?!?

Consider: are the players who have it the sort of players who might enjoy the following conversation, and even more so if the item was meaningless?

Uninitiate: What's that funny thing in/on your signature/lapel/necktie/handshake/knuckles ...?
Initiate: If you have to ask, then I can't tell you. *smirk*

EDIT: Duh, forgot this puppet didn't have it in the sig, which ruins joke. ;)
