LOL wut? You're convinced you have something here because a whopping 48.6% of the people who read this poll voted in favor of it?

Err, well he was certain since that poll used to be 36-31 FOR.

Now it's more leaning towards AGAINST, I'm not sure if his argument actually holds...

It does, as the poll still is in favor. Please check your info.

I feel as though that was sarcasm relating to my most recent draft thread... in which I have made like 4-5 edits and already have my first draft up [along w/ the current one].

But I'll ignore it.

OOC: Actually, they sample "anyone wandering by". If the thread has ever made it to the "Latest Threads" section, odds are that non-RP-peeps have clicked it, and if I've learned anything in all the years the polls have been around, it's that people can't resist clicking a poll even if they've no idea/interest in the subject at hand.

OOC: Just posting with this account to make a point.

I have 3 accounts in this game. If I'd wanted to skew your result, I would've definitely voted on your poll on all of them. But if a resolution has a poll, I only vote with the account I'm doing the arguing on.

Now, consider that there are plenty of peeps around who have dozens of accounts, and none of my morals. In addition to the "oh, a poll, must click it" attitude I already mentioned.

Well, no, a specific opinion-seeking poll with a 70-30 distribution can tell a writer if he's on the right track or not. A go-no go poll that's being used to justify whether or not something should be submitted, that's another story.

Shall we ask Brother Maynard to fetch the Holy Hand Grenade and blow your puppet to tiny bits?

Percussionland wrote:The poll says otherwise.

You have been missing the point for so long, I feel like I have no choice but to be blunt with you. A 50-50 split or near-50-50 split is a BAD sign, not a good one. This has little or no shot at passing, even if it should reach quorum. Your reactionary style of writing will frequently produce exactly what you have here, a misguided, piecemeal, sucky proposal that lacks cohesion.

To be clear, I'm not saying you should give up. Maybe give this a month or two, see how the process works for successful proposals, and after you've gained some insight into how things go when it's done successfully, come back to it, start from scratch, and, if necessary, get some help as you're putting it together.

"Wonderful. All we have to do is find an infectious agent capable of being carried by a species who's presence would require a sanctuary, declare it a hazard, regardless of it's ability to cross species barriers, and we can evade 99.9% of this. I'd support it based on the ability to use excessive loopholing, but I'll have to advise my government and regional Delegate to oppose this as long as the WA is empowered to cordon off swathes of C.D.S.P. territory against my government's interests."

This is not a loophole as disease causing agents are not protected and are permitted to be wiped out.

"Right. And all living organisms are capable of carrying diseases. With a controlled release of the right agent, we can infect our sanctuaries, raze them in the name of public health, and build a MegaMart over them. Ambassador, as long as you try to give the WA control of vast amounts of territory, this will be, and continue to be, an extremely unpopular proposal. That clause is the silver bullet for this sovereignty nightmare. Few nations value their environment over their military bases or prime real estate, and will vote accordingly."

"I see. So we're back to incremental changes and shitty drafting. Ignoring the part where I graciously point out how the effort is futile in the first place.

"So, you want a World assembly-certified vet to check every tree or blade of grass before we remove it. How will a vet diagnose a shrub? We won't have to unleash a disease, then. A natural blight will take care of these useless sanctuaries for us."
