STOP WATERING THE BOOZE
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Significant

Demands the Ambassadors Lounge in the WAHQ building stop watering their booze.

This act is egregious act of deceit and abuse.

Mandates that only unaltered alcohol be used in the WAHQ Ambassadors Lounge for all mixed drinks and/or straight and/or 'on-the-rocks'.

Any Bar manager, bartender, or other employee who violates this edict shall deserve whatever they get from the patrons.

If it is single malt scotch which is watered and/or altered, then the most severe penalty from the nation of the patron deceived shall be enforced on the spot.

Defining Language To Aid Communication

Postby Calladan » Sat Aug 13, 2016 2:06 am

DEFINING LANGUAGE TO AID COMMUNICATION

Noting that while most nations have their own language, the universal language of communication appears to be English,

Noting that there are some terms in English that can cause confusion,

Noting that while confusion is bad at the best of times, when it comes to international relations and people who have the ability to blow the crap out of each other it gets even more perilous,

The WA hereby declares that :-

1) FLAMMABLE means something is susceptible to fire and heat and burning, while INFLAMMABLE means it is absolutely not,

2) INFER means to take something away from an article, post, conversation or other form of dialog, while IMPLY means to suggest something without directly stating it,

3) CLEAVE will now mean "to split" and no longer mean "to join",

4) FAST will now mean with a lot of speed and no longer mean fixed and unmoving,

5) SANCTION will now mean to give official permision to something and will no longer mean to impose action against

With these new regulations, it is hoped that the amount of confusion will be lessened within The WA and that the idiot in District 7 who blew up a warehouse because he did not realise "inflammable" meant the same as "flammable" will not condemn another warehouse to the same fate.

Real Life Referencing Act
Category: Referencing | Strength: Moderate

World Assembly,

NOTING that making real life references is illegal when making a proposal.

ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that's just stupid.

ANNOYED you have to used thinly-disguised substitutes for real life things.

DRIVEN to insanity that thinking of good substitutes is hard.

ACCUSING the WA for being backwards and ignorant.

HEREBY,

1) DEFINES:

Real life things as objects existing in the universe where the players of NationStates live in.

Thinly-disguised substitutes as a completely obvious substitute for real life things.

2) ALLOWS references to real life to be made.

3) STOP the practice of using thinly-disguised substitutes for real life things.

4) CHANGE all previous resolutions and current proposal drafts using thinly-disguised substitutes to use real life thing instead, and finally

5) FORCE the World Assembly to change its name back to the United Nations.

OOC: She probably does that when she's suitably sleep-deprived, even though her aides try to keep her from getting to the weapon during those times. :P Mind you, she only uses it as a debating tool to incinerate proposals she considers to be better off as carbon than as a proposal.

To Bring An End To Warfare

Postby Calladan » Fri Aug 19, 2016 4:48 am

Proposal To Bring an End to All Warfare

NOTING that most wars start over tiny disagreements,

NOTING that the roots of most tiny disagreements are lost in history,

NOTING that there are a large number of topics over which there is huge disagreement,

NOTING that if these topics could be sorted out, the chance for world peace could be achieved,

The WA hereby decrees :-

1) Pirates are better than Ninjas,

2) In a fight between Astronauts and Cavemen, Cavemen will win every time,

3) Lever is pronounced in a way that rhymes with fever, not clever,

4) The House of Badgers is clearly the superior house

5) Frankenstien was the monster

6) To Serve Man is a cookbook

The WA hopes that with these facts now established and no longer in dispute, world peace will be achieved by this time tomorrow.

World Assembly Declaration on Ghostbusters 2016
Category: Review | Strength: Strong

The World Assembly,

NOTING the controversy surrounding the recent Ghostbusters reboot,

CONSIDERING itself to be an organisation of peace,

CONCERNED that this question is contrary to that aim,

BELIEVING anyone who likes the film to be a traitor,

BELIEVING anyone who dislikes the film to be a misogynist,

HEREBY:

1) DECLARES Ghostbusters 2016 to be a decent film on its own merits,

2) CLARIFIES that Ghostbusters 2016 does not live up to the original,

3) REQUIRES all inhabitants of WA member states to agree with this opinion.

A Resolution To Finally Sort Out what it is all about

Postby Calladan » Sun Aug 21, 2016 6:13 am

A Resolution To Finally Sort Out what it is all about

Noting that life is very confusing,

Noting that many religions claim to have the meaning of life,

Noting that they all seem to disagree with each other,

Noting that despite coming close, the late, great Douglas Adams did not produce the true meaning of life,

Noting that knowing the meaning of life might help with relations between people, nations and planets,

The WA hereby declares that :-

1) You put your left arm in,

2) You put your left arm out,

3) You put your left arm in,

4) And you shake it all about,

5) You do the hokey-cokey,

6) And you turn around,

7) And THAT'S what it's all about,

Amendment 1 - Repeat Clauses 1 to 7 using your right arm,

Amendment 2 - Repeat Clauses 1 to 7 using your left leg,

Amendment 3 - Repeat Clauses 1 to 7 using your right leg,

Amendment 4 - Repeat Clauses 1 to 7 using your whole self

Anti-Repealing Act
Category: Proposing | Strength: Maximum

World Assembly,

NOTICING that most resolutions gets repealed after a certain amount of time,

SHOCKED that some of these repeals are stupid and the resolution they are repealing are necessary for greater good of the WA nations.

DEPRESSED because some of those repeals actually pass.

WISHING to stop this madness

HEREBY,

1) DEFINES repealing as the act of removing a passed resolution for the sake of it.

2) ILLEGALIZES repealing resolutions to protect the sanity of the WA.

3) BANS nations who attempt to repeal a resolution from the WA.

4) SETS up programs to ensure that the WA will not fall, and

5) MANDATES that resolutions that were repealed be unrepealed by the WA.

If the argument is that "most resolutions get repealed whether they deserve it or not" and that is the key argument to support this proposal, wouldn't that argument be rendered null and void if you prevent the repealing of any future resolutions (including this one) and so wouldn't THAT render THIS resolution null and void and require it (for the sanity of the WA) to be repealed? Because if it wasn't repealed it would have to be repealed otherwise it wouldn't be repealed!!

So repealing all the repeals? That makes this proposal self-contradictory. Also, what if this results in two proposals duplicating or contradicting each other? I mean, how many versions of Habeas Corpus have there been?

Yes, I know that I'm taking a joke too seriously, but that's the joke. :P

Ouch. You're giving me a headache. Your logic is....either odd and crazy or actually pretty smart. I'm going to go with odd or crazy because your logic will cause insanity within the World Assembly.
