Repeal "International Hot Chocolate Day"

Category: Quite Serious, But Nothing To Be Scared Of Effect: So good, it's NatSov! Proposed by: Tinhampton

DESCRIPTION: The World Assembly,
Praising various efforts to point out illegalities in the "International Hot Chocolate Day" act (including by designated jurisdictors);
Gobsmacked at the obviousness of these illegalities, such as:
  • Consisting of various amendments, which are also prohibited;
  • Enforcing itself onto non-WA members; and
  • A contradiction which states that everybody will have a good time, unless they choose to complain;
Noting that each nation has a choice to decide whether or not to serve their denizens Hot Chocolate on a certain day of the year;
Amazed, to say the least, that national governments would be realistically expected to comment on the weather;
Concerned that the size of the hot chocolate is only given as "yuuge," with no specific details given;
Ergo, concerned that offering only two optional extras will not be considered good enough by many hot chocolate drinkers; and
Pointing out that the world is currently going through some exceptionally pressing issues which deserve more attention than hot chocolate, such as:
  • Deadly rollercoaster malfunctions at Six Hundred Flags theme park;
  • Violetist infiltration of schools occuring in countless areas of the globe;
  • The "Official Residences for Leaders" campaign, which is making waves and has already seen countless successes;
  • Social justice issues like poverty, starvation and equality;
  • Exceptionally long queues for diplomats to travel to Daguo;
  • Whether or not the Stylishly Evil Kingdom of Katganistan should be the latest nation go to war with Bigtopia over ongoing protests occuring around the world, after hundreds of separate police killings of Bigtopians abroad, and a military killing of a Bigtopian tourist after the violation of Katganistan Defense Regulations Volume 4, Bylaw 8-A, Chapter 23, Section G-17-5, Paragraph 4b; and
  • A wide array of other problems which cannot be listed here in order to keep this proposal acceptable to the vast majority of people;

HEREBY REPEALS "International Hot Chocolate Day".

Co-authored by Sierra Lyricalia

D-A SMITH: I hate to be a killjoy, but an act like "International Hot Chocolate Day" that contains blatant mistakes like these should be repealed, to be frank. I co-authored Sierra Lyricalia due to their help in pointing out illegalities within IHCD. If you desperately want to find out about the lack of size details, I made a Freedom of Information request. In case you're wondering where I got all those issues, I read something on LeaksPedia called "Issues Dossier for Receipt of Leaders - TOP SEKRIT!" (OOC: the Issues SPOILER ALERT thread). If you're wondering where I got the war plans... well, I picked up a copy of a Katganistani newspaper dated November 18, 1993.

It appears that the 'break every rule' proposals have been replaced by the 'repeal the repeal of the repeal of the repeal' proposals.

Standards in Joke Proposals
Category: Bookkeeping | Strength: Sweeping

The World Assembly,

NOTING that ambassadors frequently draft jocular proposals so that they can break up the dull monotony of their jobs,

ACKNOWLEDGING that some of these jocular proposals are legitimately funny,

CONCERNED, however, that too many jocular proposals steal jokes from other jocular proposals,

WISHING to break every WA rule,

HEREBY:

  1. MANDATES that no two proposals may use the same joke,

  2. REQUIRES member states to create a Ministry of Silly Walks as we're too lazy to do it ourselves,

  3. REPEALS GA #366 a.k.a Repeal "Stopping Suicide Seeds",

  4. PROHIBITS hypocrisy in WA proposals, jocular or otherwise.

Repeal "Law of Conservation of Energy"
Category: Repeal | Strength: Sweeping

Description: The Law of Conservation of Energy (“the total energy in an isolated system remains constant”), also known as the First Law of Thermodynamics, shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Recognising that Septentrion is a realism-based role-playing region with emphasis on freedom and/of creativity, and the importance of creating a free and unencumbered role-playing atmosphere.

UNDERSTANDING realism as necessary to establish a common foundation for roleplaying and its use as a means of supporting roleplaying

CONCERNED that it is used to enforce realism and severely restrict creativity, and as a result having led to divisions within the region which have often degraded into unconstructive ad hominem attacks

HORRIFIED at the Conservation of Energy for being used as the basis of prohibiting, amongst others, perpetual motion machines, time travel, miracles, thaumaturgy

INSISTING that Septentrion is not an isolated system, having declared its willingness to role-play with regions it has embassies with, and as Conservation of Energy only applies to closed systems, the Law itself obsolete and ineffectual

REALISING that this this would lay out the possibility of repealing the Second Law of Thermodynamics (“the total entropy of an isolated system always increases with time”) and would thus lead to entropy being a reversible process, thus ensuring the indefinite existence of Septentrion

EXHILARATED at the prospect of global sustainability, the ending of world hunger and poverty, building bridges across oceans, flying aircraft carriers

DECLARING the people’s will as being the supreme source of jurisprudence, legitimacy and authority, overriding religious, ethnic, gender and scientific laws and biases

DETERMINED to end minority rule by the scientific elite

HEREBY REPEALES the 'Law of Conservation of Energy'

Here's my motion to repeal the law of conservation of energy for my region only (not WA). Of course, it's a joke and probably is illegal on so many different levels, but I did want to have a go at trying to write resolutions in WA language. Suggestions for how to improve it (as if it were actually to be submitted) would be helpful, particularly language and structure wise. I originally intended for it to be longer, however seeing other resolutions, it seems as though non-text-heavy resolutions are preferred.

Ban Comic Sans

Postby Tribaria » Sun Nov 27, 2016 4:07 pm

Seeing as I can't submit any real proposals, I might as well write a joke proposal.
Ban Comic Sans

REALIZING that any text displayed on a screen must be displayed as a font,
ACKNOWLEDGING that many different fonts exist, in all different styles,
HEREBY CONCLUDES that users of screens have many font choices.
The World Assembly,
HORRIFIED by the appearance of the font known as Comic Sans,
FINDING Comic Sans to be a childish, ugly font,
HEREBY DETERMINES that its use can be considered an assault to one's senses.
THEREFORE, the use of Comic Sans shall be banned, and,
EMPOWERS a Font Use Commission to enforce this rules.

Anti-Baby-Menu Act
Category: Human Rights | Strength: Strong

The World Assembly,

NOTING that some nations practise baby-eating,

CONCERNED that without regulation, such a practice could result in genocide,

THINKING of the children,

HEREBY:

  1. ALLOWS member states to eat one or two babies,

  2. FORBIDS member states from eating several thousand babies,

  3. REQUIRES member states to think of the children.

Fairburn: I thought that our ban on murder was a fine piece of legislation, but it looks as if we've outdone ourselves this time! This is truly a well-reasoned and sensible solution to the baby-eating epidemic which plagues this august assembly! We urge everyone to please think of the children!

Title : International Convention on Spoilers
Category : Human Rights
Strength : Stronger than the Strongest Thing You Can Imagine

Noting that the internet reaches all corners of the globe and beyond at the same time,

also noting that movies, tv shows and other forms of entertainment are not broadcast to all corners of the globe (and beyond) at the same time,

further noting that going onto the internet to post about this cool thing you just saw in a movie or tv show means you could be posting in a forum or site where there are people who haven't seen the said movie or tv show yet,

The WA hereby :-

1. Mandates ANYONE posting about movies, tv shows (et al) MUST tag their posts with either
a - a hash tag relating to the title of the movie, tv show (et al) or
b - enclose the comment within a spoiler tag of some sort

2. Mandates ANYONE who does not do this will have their account deleted from the site on which they committed this egreigous offence, their computer destroyed with sledge hammers, their house burned to the ground, their pet kitten killed in front of them and their favourite blanket shredded.
2a - if they do not have a pet kitten, they will be bought one, given time to learn to love and adore it, and then it will be killed in front of them.

3. Mandates ALL internet forums, social media sites and any other sites on which people can post about movies, tv shows (et al) MUST implement a system whereby
a - users can employ either hash tags or spoiler tags when they post on the said topics
b - users can employ filter settings to remove posts that include said hash tags or spoiler tags so that they do not accidentally learn that
  • Luke Skywalker is Princess Leia's son
  • that Spike is actually Lynda's sister
  • Regan Macneil wasn't possessed she was just feeling a little cross.

4. Mandates this law must come into force right now for the good of all sapient beings everywhere (except obviously the pet kittens, who are probably going to suffer quite a lot over the first few months until people learn to tag their mother-fraking spoilers for the love of Merlin!!!)

The International 'Creepy Clown' Prevention Treaty
Category: Moral Decency | Area of Effect: Everywhere

The World Assembly,

Feeling weirded out and kinda disturbed;

Knowing that's it probably just teenagers and people who act like teenagers;

Worried that's it might not be just teenagers and people who act like teenagers;

Hereby,

Declares that those responsible for this non-sense cease it immediately;

Affirms that they are too old for this, and have taken this too far;

Establishes that that if they don't knock it off right now, there will be consequences;

Clarifies that we are really very serious about this;

And, Henceforth,

Bans being a 'Creepy Clown'.

OOC: So this idea just would not leave me alone until I did something with it.
Helps when you read it in you best mom voice.

Title : The 'Everyone Knows It So Lets Just Agree What It Means' Act
Category : My Sanity
Strength : Is a function of form

Noting that The WA can only pass laws about member nations,

Noting too that "member nations" or "WA Nations" or "WA member nations" take longer to write than "all nations" or "nations",

And noting that some people just like a simple life,

The WA, once and for all, with no chance of repeal, revocation, reduction or redaction, declares

NATIONS, in the context of proposals, drafts and resolutions, shall mean "nations that are members in The WA at the time the proposal is passed, or that join The WA following the passage of the proposal"

I hope that settles the argument once and for all.

An FT (Class W11) nation capable of space travel, but has never attempted invading another planet. The Space Brigade is for defense only! Also, something happened to Ambassador Pink.

Definition of Things Act

The World Assembly,

AWARE that some things are not properly defined,

HEREBY

1. defines 'definition' as a thing explaining the meaning of something,
2. defines 'meaning' as something not to be found in life,
3. defines 'life' as pointless,
4. defines 'pointlessness' as what life is,
5. realizes that I'm wasting my time writing these proposals! I'm going to go LIVE!
6. runs out the door and greets everyone I meet warmly, for they matter.

Simple Legal Terms

Category: Advancement of Industry Area of Effect: Tort Reform Proposed by: Tinhampton

DESCRIPTION: The World Assembly,
Noting that some nations (such as Separatist Peoples) are not very engaged in the act of interacting with scripts that banject nations that exceed delegate-set endorsement limits (hereinafter "limits"),
Further noting that the language used in the limits community can be intimidating to newcomers to the limits scene ("newcomers"),
Even further noting that discussion chamber police force members such as Frisbeeteria want simplified legal terms to help newcomers understand,
Yet further noting that suggestions for this include returning to middle school and baking cakes;
Annoyedly noting that some nations ban the word "cake," instead mandating that their denizens use "caek" instead;
Even more annoyedly noting that terms like "sua sponte," "respondeat superior" and "attorney at law" invade courts across the metaverse to this day;
Even further noting that you should be wary of toppling scales;
Touching your face whilst you are sleeping; and
Angered at how this resolution is being derailed by bad parodying;

HEREBY:
  1. Mandates that all articles be written in simple legal terms;
  2. Defines simple legal terms as non-Latin phrases;
  3. Defines "wish" as "a polite demand to carry out an action for the good of the community";
  4. Wishes that Ambassador Benjamin Bell, C.D.S.P, gets along with others like he used to do at middle school and bakes a cake with rainbows and smiles inside;
  5. Further wishes that Ambassador Bell mandates that all other peoples eat this cake AND be happy;
  6. Details any consequences inside a separate resolution that will shortly be passed in a stealthy manner;
  7. Reassures members of the bit of the Pacific where the sun comes up that this cake bake may be freely regarded as a caek baek;
  8. Nods off to sleep after a long day's work.

As inspired by this.
