[DRAFT] Repeal "On Expiration Dates"

Postby A mean old man » Sat Aug 13, 2011 11:44 am

I was made aware of this error a while ago, however have chosen to address it now.

The World Assembly,

BELIEVING that the legislation targeted by this repeal is well-meaning and is, if it is constructed as perfectly as possible, a necessary measure to implement within WA-member nations,

NOTING that, while the resolution mandates that distributors acquire the average length of time that their perishable goods will last before spoiling and must pass this information on to the consumer for the consumer's own safety, it does not require the distributor to make available dates of manufacture for their goods or specific dates on which the goods will have spoiled,

FURTHER NOTING that this loophole renders this legislation nearly obsolete and could be abused by producers or distributors wishing to cause confusion among the consumer as to when their products will spoil,

HEREBY REPEALS "On Expiration Dates" so that this serious flaw in its design may be fixed and so that a more perfect version of the resolution may be submitted and hopefully passed afterwards.

The Dizyntk are all for repealing as many of the WA resolutions as possible. As it was also originally your proposal you are wanting to repeal, we applaud and support this measure.

Why did the WA have to mandate expiration dates in the first place?

HEREBY REPEALS "On Expiration Dates" so that this serious flaw in its design may be fixed and so that a more perfect micro-managing version of the resolution may be submitted and hopefully passed afterwards.

Never occurred to me about the "Expiration Dates" resolution.

Definitely full support for the repeal if the loophole is this huge.
Diplomacy is for people who wish escape RL; General is for people who have too much time in RL; The WA is for people who want to be bureaucrats in RL; The Archives is for people wanting to look back at how others spent time in their RL; and Technical is for people who already cannot find enough to complain about in RL anyway.
