"So you fight each other with office supplies? That seems incrediblt inelegant and undiplomatic."

"Oh, there are rules and coalitions and shifting factions and loyalties - it's basically a way to get all the interpersonal issues out and sorted in one day-long rumble, so that for the rest of the year we can putter around doing our jobs. Improves efficiency, and it's always nice to see people wincing when you give them a bright smile, for weeks afterwards," Janis explained, grinning at the Taigawan. "We're a pacifist nation. That doesn't mean tempers didn't flare occasionally. So we save it for when next year's promotions and demotions are being battled out. It works beautifully, even though winning is starting to get boring."

(Ahume, noting the presence of another ambassador, one whom he's never met, mumbles something inaudible to Janis.)

She noticed his discomfort and nodded. "Ah, right, excuse me... uh, Taigawan ambassador, and everyone else, but we were having a private conversation. Ahume, the bar counter's getting a bit crowded, why don't we give space to the newcomers and head off to the side a bit? Like that table over there by the wall near the window. The pool is right below those windows, if anyone else comes to bother you. Besides," she added in a lower tone as she collected her cocoa cup and binder, "it gives a direct view of Ty and the cactus..." She started gently ushering him towards the table.

Doing this OOCly, because Janis doesn't want people to butt in on her entertainment and that means leading Ahume away from people around whom he doesn't want to talk freely.

Your previous ambassador or character or whatever talked about a WMD of the sort that "glasses" a planet's surface, if I remember correctly. Using that as an aggressor in any war breaks... well, let's settle for lots of WA resolutions and on top of that your ambassador basically insulted all nations below whatever level 6 civilization is (and please don't give me a link, I honestly don't care), with the "they might worship us as gods".

I get it that you're on the Mass Effect Threeversum bandwagon in RP sense, like Wrapper is Stargåtean or whatever, and someone mentioned Minecraft somewhere, which I know even less of that Mass Effect, which I've only heard of told by a friend who likes those games. I've seen a Stargåte movie and part of one of the series, Minecraft I know exactly as much of as the Wikipedia article tells me and that's that.

I'm honestly left wondering if anyone aside from what, let's see, Bears, me, Liagolas... SP? Tinfect? Excidium? I don't know about you three a lot, in the RP sense, except SP throws some comparisons to Runescape's drinks, which I know a lot about (played since 2004), and could probably write a good spin-off RP based on the tons of lore that exist for that world plus my own gaming experience, but I don't want to rip off other people's worldcreating efforts and justify acting like a...

Yeah, going to stop myself there. I don't want Wrapper to have to jump out of character and whack me with RedText^TM, nor do I actually give a shit about who bases their RP on what, except as a multiple world-builder myself I view that as damn lazy. And yes I have been in a writing club where we based our stories on a universe created by someone else, and I found it so restricting that I kept adding my own things, which others then adopted which then became canon for the club and not going further into that, but I know it's easier to take certain concepts, especially if there are easy links to provide for people who ask.

And yes, it's lazy. And yes, it's both easy and difficult at once. When you're restrained by the lore created by others, the best you can do is create characters and evolve them further, like Wrapper has done magnificently. He doesn't keep throwing it into our faces all the time that his nation has some nullpoint energy field or whatever it was, and that they have the Stargates and whatnot, while the majority of nations around here haven't got FTL, in my case Araraukar doesn't even have its own space program, but partakes an ESA-type thing on its planet.

I get it, worldbuilding isn't for everyone. I do it for fun. And when bored. And when asleep. I write stories in those worlds, stories that might or might not end up being seen by others some day, but that's neither here nor there. (Mind you, some have been published.)

All this leads me to just stating this: don't you fucking dare to come complaining to me about my RP - which includes everything I've set up on PPU and what little I have used WAKK on - being "monkeys throwing things at each other".

tl;dr: Needed to get that off my chest, will ignore further comments from the Taigawan ambassador for my own peace of mind. (Tai, I'm not putting you on foe list or anything like that, nor am I ignoring you, the player, but I'm ignoring the ambassador that has no respect for other people's self-built RPs.)

"Oh, hello there, Wad Ahume. Hello there, Wad Ty. Ambassador Bell. Ambassador Leveret. What's this about office fighting? I'm telling you, a good old fashioned hunt is much more entertaining. You actually get to kill things."

You claim soverignty over everything that exists, yet you bahave like this. How is any leader in her right mind supposed to give you support? (Ty nervously takes his drink, looks around and, seeing no one he knows, approaches the nearest potted plant.)

TY: Umm. Hey. What's going on?

TY: (still talking to the plant) ...so, then, ummm, in this other video, this calico cat is standing on its hind legs, swatting at this giant, leafy plant, looks kind of like an overgrown philodendron, and then suddenly.... Ummm. Do you suppose under this new resolution, that this would be outlawed as animal cruelty? I mean, obviously, these plants are carnivores, so, ummm. Anyway, in another video....

TY: (nods over at Ogenbond then resumes his one-sided conversation with the plant) ....so then she sends me a message asking me what I'll be doing when my appointment is up, and I'm thinking, is she talking about me and her, or is she talking about professionally? Ummm, I can't figure it out, so I haven't responded to her yet, which is probably cheesing her off a bit....

Please forgive me that I do not send a speaker plant to the Bar right now, to speak directly with you, but if you talk to the cactus, I will hear you and can then respond via your communicator in text-based communication.

To answer your first question, quite a lot is going on right now for me and my allies. We are planning an undertaking that will help me, my allies at Araraukar, and the island nation of Liagolas. This requires a lot of conscious effort on my part, as I am attempting to develope an entirely new plant species, one that would not be part of my selves, but would be an independent non-sapient plant, which I could then sell to my new friends in Liagolas. As I have to consciously manipulate the flow of water and nutrients, as well as the genetic insertions and gene expression of a plant fetus - you would call it a seed - that is not a part of me, and do this at once for a thousand such plant fetuses to make sure they grow as intended after they are planted in the soil, I am rather busy right now.

How is your growth going?

As for a video you may have seen somewhere on the interwebs, I cannot say if it would be possible or if it is advanced fakery, for that particular plant, but it could technically be possible for me. Each of my speaker plants - the ones you hear in the debate hall - could technically grab you up as you passed by, and rip your limbs and head off of your body in mere seconds. In the Bar and the debate hall, of course, the weapon nullifiers would likely prevent me, but more than that, I have decided not to do that, ever, unless someone or something is threatening the majority of my selves. Like you Wads take a pacifist oath or similar so that you can be Wads, similarly I have promised to myself - others call it a "law" - that I will not intentionally harm a sapient being.

As you are a sapient being, you do not have anything to fear. Also, my carnivorous selves within the WAHQ are provided for in a manner not too dissimilar to how any of the carnivorous or omnivorous ambassadors around here get their meals. If you see one of our selves eating a bee, do not worry, we only eat the bees we grow for that purpose.

As for your possible mating situation, if you like her and would like to procreate with her, just message her and ask if that is what she meant, or whether she just wanted a walk on the seashore, or recreational sex or what. You will only know if you ask her.

Communicating like this, to an individual, with external words and meanings is very, very alien for me, Ty. Even referring to the being that is the hivemind of PPU as "I" or "me", comes with a slight hesitation. I understand that you single-thinkers prefer to hear the personal pronouns used of sapient creatures, but there really is no more "me" in that cactus you have been talking to, than there is in the computer-interfacing plant that is creating this message, than there is in a speaker plant, than there is in those plants creating that new species right now, than there is in those of my selves that guard my orchards in Araraukar and make sure that no sapient creature wanders in too far towards the orchards, since the physical guardian plants are not sapient, and might harm even sweet innocent creatures such as you, Ty.

As for your public figurehead, I cannot comment, as that would be akin to me asking you how to create the gene that gives a berry red colour without adding an ultraviolet component, and without using the gene for it that the plant in question would use naturally. Besides, all of my selves are always "naked". It is required so that we can breathe and photosynthetize.

(Ahume watches as Ty nods and places the order. He chuckles.)

AHUME: Someone's idea of a practical joke. You see, nothing grows in the soil on Luna II, and there's no atmosphere to speak of. So, we set up these pressurized greenhouse units and blanket the floors with a few inches of imported soil, so we can grow limited amounts of crops. One time, we received a shipment of seeds from an outlying colony, they grew into these exquisite fruits, something that smelled and tasted a bit like sweet tomatoes, but were the size of pumpkins. What we didn't know was, when we tried to pick the first few of these fruits, the plants had a self-defense mechanism, and sprayed this burning substance on us, which we later found out was fairly concentrated citric acid. Needless to say, the following rotation, we did not plant any more of those seeds.

OOC: I hope you realize that a lot of the "humans" in WAHQ are not RL humans. Many are what you could call "humanoids". And that even if they were "Earth humans", they come from entirely different universes, or even different multiverses, and only co-exist in WAHQ. In addition to which, there are a lot of non-humans around. Your characters have so far been jerks to everyone but your own charas.

No-one, certainly not my character(s), had been rude to her prior to that comment.

AHUME: Someone's idea of a practical joke. You see, nothing grows in the soil on Luna II, and there's no atmosphere to speak of. So, we set up these pressurized greenhouse units and blanket the floors with a few inches of imported soil, so we can grow limited amounts of crops. One time, we received a shipment of seeds from an outlying colony, they grew into these exquisite fruits, something that smelled and tasted a bit like sweet tomatoes, but were the size of pumpkins. What we didn't know was, when we tried to pick the first few of these fruits, the plants had a self-defense mechanism, and sprayed this burning substance on us, which we later found out was fairly concentrated citric acid. Needless to say, the following rotation, we did not plant any more of those seeds.

"Heh, sounds like a prank indeed," Janis said, "but, you know, if you just asked, I'm fairly sure the PPU hivemind could make you a version of those that didn't have the defence mechanism. It helped the Tollans free of charge, and I think it quite likes you. And I mean you as a person. Which reminds me," she went on with a sly grin. "A rumour has it that you've got someone you're rather more than slightly fond of, on New Tollana. Is it anyone I know?"
