6th Scott Cup - RP/Results

Postby Delaclava » Sun Feb 20, 2011 11:53 am

At last, at long last, it's the 6th edition of the Robert Winthrop Scott Memorial Cup, one of the world's longest running tennis tournaments!

Each nation sends one male and one female player to Catherina, the capital of Delaclava. Somewhere in the gargantuan Delaclava National Athletic Complex, on the wooden courts, the males from each country will play a best-of-five match, and the females will play a best-of-three. There will then be a best-of-three mixed doubles match. Whichever country won 2 or more courts will win the match.

There will be a group stage, followed by a single-elimination knockout round. The tournament will culminate in a third-place playoff, where bronze and pewter medals are awarded, and the championship, where gold and silver medals are awarded, as well as the prestigious Scott Cup trophy.

RP's will be graded on several things: Understanding of tennis, absence of godmodding, adhering to a storyline of sports, spelling and grammar, and others. Please do not post RPs until signups have been closed.

Scorination will be done at about 9:00 PM EST, using Schiavonia's tennis scorinator.

Three nations are being automatically invited:

Delaclava
Sarzonia
Sibirsky

All the invited nations need to do are accept invitations. I will assume that those nations are sending the same delegations as their A team from last edition (respectively, Darren Giles/Albertina Iniesta, David Polley/Colleen Barnaby, David Faulk/Jennifer Carner, Malcolm Cutter/Kara Sorlander, Marcus Kay/Kristy Deodatus, Allen Cranfield/Lilia Tuten). They are, of course, welcome to change who they send.

For the rest of you, you must apply to join the tournament. Simply state your two players, and I will make a decision. ICly, based on past performance and performance in other tennis tournaments; OOCly, based on participation and RP level on NS Sports in general. I want this to be a high-RP tournament, considering the disappointing participation in the past two editions.

Although this tournament is unaffiliated with any international tennis organization, I would like to encourage those interested in participating in the new International Tennis Association to sign up for this tournament, so you can start developing your characters and get your tennis groove on.

So get signing up!

EDIT: For those who may be concerned about me having just been voted to host the Cup of Harmony, I assure you that these tournaments will, for the most part, not run concurrently. If there is any overlap, it will most likely occur in the later, less taxing stages of the CoH.

The Republic of Sibirsky accepts it's invitation and sends the inaugural Scott Cup Champions, David Faulk and Jennifer Carner.

Although they have gotten older, they are still the most dominant players on the Sibirsky tennis circuit. As of the latest rankings, Carner remains the nation's #1 female player, while a tough local tournament has knocked Faulk down to third. However, because of the doubles play involved, having played together for so long, they wish to remain a team, instead of pairing Carner with Thorsten Freeh, the #1 ranked male player in the nation.

A huge move of this topic to the first page. Still at 11 signups, so let's try to get at least one more so we're at 12.

St. Samuel has not been accepted into the Scott Cup. I feel that he has not shown that he will RP consistently in this tournament. However, I welcome him to gain experience in other tournaments, stay active, and perhaps participate in future editions of the Scott Cup.
