An intern at the NSSCRA (NationStates Stock Car Racing Association) placed a paper on the Organization President's desk: Something about this ISCC thing. There had been thoughts of a NSSCRA 3 season possibly to match up with the Daytona 500 in February, but they had not gone public yet. Perhaps, that has led to this other organization to think they would be having the "1st" Cup.

"His name is Michael Scott. Sure he has great intentions." said the intern.

"Very well. Tell them that he can avoid copyright infringement litigation with the NSSCRA if he removes the word "1st" from his event title."

"Will do. Looks like a reasonable person. Sure he will do that."

I don't see a particular problem here, Newmanistan. Dingbu's OP isn't claiming that this is the first ever NS stock car event, but rather the first ever ISCC event. I concede that the title can potentially be read in the manner you imply, but he isn't explicitly or implicitly stating that this is the sole or official NS stock car event - which is where I might have intervened.

Given the level of sanctioning fragmentation in real life stock car racing, I see no problem with the NSSCRA continuing as the 'premier' NS stock car event, but with other stock car events also taking place; perhaps consider the ISCC to be the NS equivalent of the RL International Motor Contest Association, or IMCA. No one doubts NASCAR is the most important body in RL, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for other sanctioning bodies; the same can apply here.

Arch, I did consider your interpretation which is why I made my post an in-character kind of situation as in the NSSCRA would be raising an eyebrow over this competition. "International" and "Nationstates" are often synonymous in this game so it stands to reason that the NSSCRA-executives would be monitoring the situation.

I want nothing more then for Dingbu to be successful with this because it gets me wondering if NSSCRA 3 is worth it (two of the top RPers from NSSCRA 2 are either CTE or never on this forum anymore). If Dingbu=Melki as per the signature, it's someone I have confidence in. This got me thinking and I have to ask this to Dingbu: Would you like to use this as an NSSCRA-feeder series of sorts?

Almost exactly 12 more hours until the Cup begins!

Some new info: The Cup is called the AT&T Cup, there are 10 races, all of which are every 2 days, and 5 Race for the Cup races. Points are awarded for position when race is over, not lap leaders. The Race begins with 1,000 points plus 20 points for each win, and then the Race begins! Our major sponsor is BP.
