The National
Stuffed Taxidermists get a good win over Octinstine
The Stuffed Taxidermists National Team produced a convincing 2-0 victory over Octinstine in the Commonwealth Cup. Stuffed Taxidermists dominated the game almosts the whole time, though Octinstine played well at times. The win leaves Stuffed Taxidermists 1st in the group, but big team Windows Vista Business are yet to play.

WORKERS' STAR: SPORT
The Isles' leading sports paper...

ISLES NARROWLY SNATCH WIN TO SEE THEM TOP OF GROUP
Aergad Isles today played the Stuffed Taxidermists and many people predicted a Taxidermists win. Their worst fears seemed realised as the Isles went down 1-0 at half-time. A free-kick, snuck under the wall, saw the Isles draw level, but the Taxidermists fought back. They nearly scored, once, twice, three times, before a late goal, in stoppage time saw the Isles grab the three points. The Isles are now top of the group, but only by goal difference. The second place team, the capitalist Windows Vista Business, have 7 points also, but have a goal difference of +4 to the Isles' +5. The group is very close and will be determined by the final match day, where the Isles will face Windows Vista Business. If the Isles lose, they will come second. If the Isles win, they will come first. Either way, the Isles are sure to make the semi-finals, and that is something to celebrate indeed.

MINOR SPORTS EVENT?! How dare you!   :!: :?:

Sorry there, but we also have the World Cup going on and a lot of attention right now is being focused there instead, so a lot of news companies don't see making articles about this event as profitable.....
Now mostly a politik discuss account.

WORKERS' STAR: SPORT
The Isles' leading sports paper...

TRIUMPH FOR ISLES AGAINST WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS
It was the game that everyone had been waiting for. The final group stage match between the Isles, and Vista. And the result? A triumphant 3-1 win for the Isles. But how did it happen? We will analyse each half, giving the important details of an incredible game.
First Half
The first half began well for Vista. They scored after just 5 minutes, thanks to a spectacular header. The Isles drew level though, due to a controversial penalty decision. Play was faithfully reflected by the score, 1-1 at half time.
Second Half
A shock goal by the Isles saw them draw ahead at 50 minutes. Vista pushed for a goal, but the end of normal time became a midfield battle for possession, as the Isles and Vista midfields won and lost tackles repeatedly. A late break by a Vista stiker could've caused agony for the Isles, in the form of a draw, but after a skillful through-ball, the referee declared the pass off-side, despite the boos and jeers from the Vista supporters.
The Isles, 2-1 up, would not be content with such a slim lead, in stoppage time, the powerful boot of Martin, saw a late goal give them the 3-1, victory.
The Isles are looking forward to playing fellow commonwealth team, Sunthor, in the semi-finals tomorrow. Let's hope for an Isles win, shall we? ;)

WORKERS' STAR: SPORT
The Isles' leading sports paper...

FINAL FOR ISLES!!!
In today's semi-final fixture, the Aergad Isles have triumphed over fellow commonwealth nation, Sunthor.
First Half:
The opening few minutes of the game were rather cagey. Neither team really pressed for the attack. Eventually, several Sunthor attackers broke through the defence and scored. The Aergad players knew they had to act. They pressed for an equaliser and got it seconds before the half-time whistle.
Second Half:
Two substitutions, and a talking to by the manager, gave Sunthor a defensive boost in the early second half. They held off all attack by the Isles and would have forced extra time, had it not been for the misplaced boot of the defence. A free kick was given, thirty feet out. A spectacular shot by Noble, that curved in at the last second, gave the Isles what would be the winner. Sunthor knew they had to score, and went for full on attack, every player having a shot, even the goalkeeper. A late shot in stoppage time could have caused agony for the Isles, but a lucky save saw the game end 2-1 to the Isles. Speaking after the game, manager S. Walters said that having his team in the final was the proudest moment of his life. The Isles will play a team from their group, Windows Vista Business and say that they are training as hard as they can for tomorrow evening...

WORKERS' STAR: SPORT
The Isles' leading sports paper...

VICTORY!!!
In what can only be described as the game of their lives, the players of Aergad Isles held off Windows Vista Business, in extra time, to win the Commonwealth Cup. The Prime Minister presented the trophy and medals to the players, while parades were held in city streets and the following day was declared a national holiday.
First Half:
The Isles scored first and held off any attack by Vista. 1-0 at half time.
Second Half:
Vista scored quickly, but the Isles went for attack. The Vista defence was solid, and extra time was forced.
Extra Time:
There were no goals in the first period of extra time, but a excellent goal by Noble saw them win the trophy.
