The Teinohikira Chronicle

Teinohikira scores 4 unanswered goals to beat [1]Plutoni 4-2

Teinohikira, who was down 2-0 at the start of the 3rd Period, scores 4 unanswered goals to beat [1]Plutoni 4-2! Teinohikira had no idea they had it in them, this marks the first time in Teinohikira sport history that they beat a #1 team. Teinohikira now has a 2-1 record, their only loss being Tocrowkia. And rival Narsora falls to a 1-2 record after losing to Cosumar 2-0. The play-by-play went as follows:
1ST PERIOD:
Plutoni-Pensban Gamela-C 0:11
END OF 1ST Plutoni: 1 Teinohikira: 0

2ND PERIOD:
Plutoni-Mack Chase-LWF 6:54
END OF 2ND Plutoni: 2 Teinohikira: 0

3RD PERIOD:
Teinohikira-Dimitri Roberazzi-LWF 4:43
Teinohikira-Connor Sakillai-LDM 10:11
Teinohikira-Daylon Orali-RDM 19:02
Teinohikira-Jake Gaisdui-C 19:55
END OF 3RD Plutoni: 2 Teinohikira: 4

In an interview with Coach Mark Bilbo, Coach of Teinohikira, he said: "Plutoni played great and should hold their heads high today. Even though this is a heartbreaking loss for them, they can still bounce back from this a keep going." Teinohikira plays rival Narsora next in the classic matchup: "Battle for the Carton of Lemonade". Teinohikira is fired up and ready for this game.

Well That Was Embarassing

It can never last, can it? Our boys and girls can never put together an actual winning streak in any sport, can they? It seems to be a running trend, and it was one that was repeated last night to everyone's frustration as the Tide fell to Shoferica, 3-2.

The game was well-played by both teams, as the Tide fought back after Shoferica took a 2-0 lead midway through the second period; the Tide scored twice, once by Theo Braannur and once by Dani Andicek, as they tied the score up, only for Shoferica to score a third goal late in the third period to win the game.

"We were a team playing not to lose, rather than playing to win. And it showed," Kyle Smart, the team's head coach told us. "It wasn't good; we played like a team that thought it's superior ranking would win the game for us, instead of what got us that ranking in the first place. Don't make any mistake: they're no better than we are, but they played to their potential tonight, and we didn't."

The Tide wasn't the only squad upset tonight; Plutoni bit one against Teinokahira, to fall to second place in their group. The Tide is third-placed in their group, with two games remaining. One is against a newcoming team that should be a non-issue, but the other is against Kelssek, which is always an interesting (and vitriol-filled) game, and it won't help that Kelssek will have the home ice, despite the fact that no team officially has the aforementioned home advantage.

"We can take 'em. We did it last year. We just need to come out firing. It's an issue of playing to the level of the competition, and taking advantage of our size and strength. I have no doubt we can win our last two and take our place in the Round of Sixteen, if we execute," Smart noted.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Period
NONE
Second Period
NONE
Third Period
Eizen- Perry Getzlav PP (18:53) 1-0 Eizen

Qazox had only 3 penalties on the night, and the 2nd (and 3rd) one probably cost the Eagles a playoff berth. The 1st was a cross-checking penalty to Craig Ratner with just under 2 minutes left gave Eizen a powerplay and Parry Getzlav took advantage scoring the lone goal of the night with 1:07 left in the game. Just after the faceoff, Remy de'Ha took a swing at Getzlav earning a 5 minute instigator penalty along with a 5 minute fighting penalty. That 2nd penalty cost Qazox a chance to pull Danielle Chalmers for an extra attacker which could have gotten the tying goal.

Now backed up against the wall, Qazox needs to defeat Cotdelapoms and Dutch Africa in their next 2 games and win rather comfortably to even have a chance to make the playoffs.

30. seb: For the first time in quite a while I'm genuinely unsure whether we have anyone worth nominating as a star of the game. The endurance these guys have is impressive on their own, but the way it all came together...Sakillai #1, and I think Gaisdui 2--he was good for the first fifty-nine and a half minutes, too. Maybe Orali third.
31. icebaby: How about Hautifi third? Placate him and smuggle Chase somewhere else.

ISPN Postgame interview with recently rehired Imperial Coach Reg Dunlop on his team's play against Qazox.

"Coach, you've had back to back shutouts, including a win over a very strong opponent from Qazox. The retooled lineup seems to be doing the trick, what is your opinion on the progress that is being made on the ice?"

"First of all the credit goes to Jiggy. Doesn't matter how many goals you score, you will win if you hold the other team to zero. Or you tie I guess but at least you don't lose. I dunno *takes a long pull from a flask*. Listen, Everything is rose petals and sunshine farts right now but we aren't scoring nearly enough goals. We won tonight because we took advantage of what was given to us late in the game but championship teams CREATE opportunities of their own."

"That's all true coach, and how are the players adjusting to the curfew being imposed after the last two Cup appearances caused eight figures worth of property damage back in Quintessence of Dust?"

"Put it this way, our boys are usually not afraid to fight and they will drop the gloves with anyone on the ice. However the security detail we have on this trip is fairly intimidating. But then again there aren't too many of anybody wanting to go up against an eight foot tall genetically engineered meathead from a detachment of the Emperor's Honor Guard. Yikes. I wish I could put some skates on these bastards but they are more likely to try and sever a spinal cord than play the puck."

"Well i'm sure the Imperial Embassy appreciates your understanding. Any notes for the next game?"

"We'll stick em in the ribs and let them know we're there. We're not in the next round yet and we probably shouldn't be sitting in a circle suc...."

"WOW THANKS COACH WELL THAT IS ALL WE HAVE FOR TONIGHT JOIN US FOR THE GAME LATER..!*

Mossulia Echo
Overtime defeat causes excitement, journalist fired

The last game we played was against Quintessence of Dust, and we came close to winning. We ended up only losing 2-1 on overtime and even though we lost, we still gained a point over them which was exciting. But the cause of more hubbub was that the journalist who wrote last weeks match report was fired. He claimed that Mossulia a third period of hockey, when in fact we played the normal regulated three last game. After hearing this there were many rumours about the coaches being hyper-intelligent cucumbers when in fact they are not. Needless to say he was fired on the spot and now lives in a house for the poor.

The game itself was an exciting one. The first period was dull. QoD managed to take an early lead and took control of the game. In all honesty it was rather tight and neither team should have scored at all. Mossulia only had a couple of chances on goal and they were rather soft ones which didn't look like much anyway.

The second period however was they exciting one. Mossulia were on they attack and that got our side of the crowd noisy and excited. The crowd after we scored began to sing one of the many famous Mossulian Hockey chants that every fans knows. With a good atmosphere it was beginning to look like the game would come alive.

The third period was tight and edgy with neither team wanting to give anything away. In the end there were only a couple of fluky shots on goal for either side, and the violence started to rise. A couple of players from both sides were sin-binned and the crowd could feel the tension rising, causing the wolves in the crowd to howl.

Overtime was soon upon us all and it looked like neither team would try too much too fast, they both wanted this game , a lot. We started to play a stylish attacking game and so did QoD. It looked like either team could win this and for once Mossulia started to believe. ,But that was our mistake, they instant we started to believe they scored a goal and won the game. Oh dear.

Next we have Sarzonia, not a hope there really. The fact is I doubt the lads will even bother to turn up, it just won't be worth it. Still surprises now and again and maybe this will be one of them, and hopefully of the nice variety for once.

The New Cleethorpes Enquirer
Petäjä "suspended indefinitely" following fan-player encounter

Kynythin MSC captain and national team alternate captain Anni Petäjä, a member of the 5th Winter Olympics silver medal squad, has been placed on immediate suspension pending a formal hearing following her actions during Quintessence of Dust's overtime win against Mossulia at the 13th World Cup of Hockey. An important win for the team - albeit one that required, in fact, a "fourth period", of sorts - saw Lára Hrafnsdóttir score 2 minutes into the overtime period, but the result was overshadowed by the ejection of Petäjä, the team's senior figure on defence.

An ill-tempered game between the Quodites and Mossulians saw barely any shots exchanged throughout regulation time - Jasmin Ackermann reportedly completing three full sudoku puzzles, level medium-hard - but plenty of checks, shoves and shoulder charges as the Mossulians took exception to a couple of uncalled penalty-worthy checks early on, while the Quodites took exception to, I dunno, the brutally ignorant, perennially undignified, pathologically fatalistic emo-wankness of the assembled Mossulian fans, with the reporting staff of the Mossulia Echo singled out for particular venom.

Maria Hákonsdóttir instigated a scuffle late on in the third quarter that saw penalty minutes doled out with the same plentitude that the federal government hands out blank cheques to every drug addict immigrant theatre group that wants to stage an interpretive dance response to the development of atomic weaponry, but the real drama came when Anni Petäjä, who was being held off by a Kelssekian linesperson after taking a swing at one of Mossulia's players, reached into the stands and grabbed a spectator by his jersey.

"While we have always discouraged fighting among players, the QHL takes an especially dim view of altercations between players and fans," a spokesman for the Quodite hockey authorities said in a prepared statement this morning. "This is a very serious matter that deserves full investigation, and Ms Petäjä will not be participating in any games until it has been resolved and appropriate punishments decided upon."

Sources at the game diverged on the root of the conflict between Petäjä and the fan, believed to hail from neither Quintessence of Dust nor Mossulia. "I think he said something? Threw something?" said one spectator, who admitted to having his view obstructed by a large placard Kelssekian graduate students had brought along, bearing a lengthy inscription protesting Quodite policies in the Colonial Territories using the language of Marxist-inspired Situationism, and using beer pong as a metaphor for the current debate on reparations. Another suggested the fan had made an obscene gesture.

But others disagreed on whether a fight had even taken place. "Dude, were you not seeing what I was seeing?" asked Magnus Aavikko, a machinist and Kynythin season ticket holder who had travelled to Kelssek to watch the game. And speaking exclusively to The New Cleethorpes Enquirer with a tone combining queasiness and disbelieving horror, Petäjä's club and country teammate Laila Salpa said: "They were not fighting...you can't do - that - to someone's face unless they really, really want you to."

LAWLER LEADS THE WAY IN CORRAIDH'S FIRST WIN

Erik Lawler had two goals in a 4-2 win over Knomasia Tuesday night. The win is Corraidh's first 'W' of the tournament and bumps the Corrish up to fourth overall in their division, three points behind the Allamunic States whom the Corrish play tonight. Corraidh started off slow Tuesday night, but finished strong after being shutout in games one and two. Cooper, Hendricks had one assist, while O'Sheridan and Simms had two, all coming off Lawler goals. Ethan Boyd and Kyle Stack provided the insurance while Freidheim, McGavin and Jake Allison added assists. Johnny McNab stopped twenty-four of the twenty-six shots he faced for his first victory since being ousted in last year's Corrish Cup playoffs.
The boys will take on the Allamunic States tonight and Ganjapolois tomorrow night to wrap up divisional play.

In response to the rise in player/spectator incidences across international hockey, and due to the threat posed by Eizen National Player and former Eizen Special Forces operative Bane Blackheart to "tear out the intestines of any jackoff fan who tries anything stupid", the Sports Ministry of the Eizen Empire has pledged one million Imperial Credits to help beef up security. The security team escorting the Eizen players have been issued special tranquilizer guns with high powered serums intended for sedating large hoofstock in order to keep the players in line. However they are not allowed to carry those weapons to official World Cup events, limiting their options.

In other National Team news the Make A Wish chapter of Citadel Prime has relayed the wish of a young girl, Suzy Jenkins age 9, suffering from a rare form of liver cancer to the Eizen team to "punch somebody out for her in a fight and then wave hello to her on the TV broadcast." While the Sports Ministry officially does not condone premeditated acts of violence against other teams, Forward George Pathos was quoted as saying "I'm sure some asshole is going to deserve a beating at some point anyway, tell little Suzy that i'll take care of it for her no sweat."

In celebration of this edition of the World Cup the Emperor has declared that entertainment businesses who host watch parties and NAtional Team themed events will recieve a "Morale Credit" on their taxes.

Kelssek secure progress with win in grudge match

Jean-Claude Gorges's incredible shutout streak came to an end at 219 minutes but he was still otherwise perfect as Kelssek beat the Allamunic States 4-1 in a heated group stage match at the 13th World Cup of Hockey.

With some bad blood between the teams after a bad-tempered previous meeting at the last World Cup, concerns of crowd trouble led to a visibly stronger turnout by the Latrobe Police, with security checks and searches stepped up at the Great Bear Arena. Fortunately, the capacity crowd was generally peaceable, even if the players often were not.

Harry White opened the scoring by knocking in a rebound from the pads of Vaalhulm Aandrikson, demonstrating good chemistry after being bumped up to the scoring line alongside captain Séverin Jeanne. Taylor Austin then got his first international goal, beating Aandrikson with a wrist shot high glove side. The Allamunic States pulled one back to start the third period a one-goal game, and could have done without letting Sydney Crawford score on a clear breakaway with 7:20 left. Jeanne then potted an empty net goal to round out the win.

Head coach Gareth Fremlin was evidently pleased with the performance the players put in, praising Jeanne's leadership. "He's really stepped into the captaincy well. Neville Keanes isn't the easiest act to follow but Jeanne is a great hockey player, he knows what the team needs from a captain, and he earns respect."

Kevin Emery had a hat-trick as Qazox kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-0 victory over Cotdelapoms. With the win, Qazox improved to 2-2 and are in 3rd place. While they cannot clinch an automatic playoff berth, with a win or draw against Dutch Africa, they would clinch a play-in berth. A loss, and the Eagles might not even earn a play-in berth.

A SCALE!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is it that we lost again?
Chad, Uptown: Um, honestly, like 4? We're in third and we can presumably beat any of the playoff teams. Also, it wasn't as "what?" inducing a finish as Teinohikira...that was just stunning.

On a scale of 1 to 60, how likely are we to make the playoffs anyway?
Liza, Char: You know, I'd say at least 59. Because after game three, one part out of sixty is still more than enough for things to go very wrong.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to claim that not visiting a site you've never visited anyway is part of a boycott?
Michel, the Exurbs: depends on the site.

On a scale of 1 to i, how sweeping of changes should Koff make to the lines for the last game of the group stage?
Watson, the South: Hey, complex numbers don't satisfy the order axioms! But I would rather see Flard play alongside Feelkee, Strand is only on the second line since they want an assistant out when Atzin isn't. Also I am completely studying for my analysis midterm.

On a B Flat major scale, how VVVVVVVVVVVVV
Kevin, the Northwest: how do you know that's not b flat minor?

(Goalscorers: Manash 18:02 into the first, first line right wing 6:43 into the second, second line center 7:04 into the third)
You're not a vacuum; you're a black hole!

Winter Paladins Doing Their Best

The Vulshainian Winter Paladins Hockey team lost two of its most recent matches. The first match went into overtime, and the Winter Paladins lost by one point. The most recent game, where the Winter Paladins faced off against the hockey team from Greater Costwalds, was also a defeat. Despite these two losses, the Winter Paladins are not feeling discouraged. In fact, the opposite is taking place: they are feeling encouraged to do better.

Selvala Everett, number 20, is an offensive forward player, had this to say. "Yeah, we lost. But, we are beat yet. We just got to that extra mile and give it our all."

The Winter Paladins are made up of humans, Lobos, and Vulpines. Despite the players all being from different races, they get along extremely well.

Donovan Brogan, another Winter Paladin hockey player who is just fresh out of college, said, "Well, there's a lot of problems in the world today, especially with people playing the race hate card. But, if you at us and our nation, we made it work. Sure, there are some who don't want to live next door to a Vulpine or a Lobo, but I don't mind at all. Heck, my fiancee is a Lobo. That should tell you something."

Yuriy Valery, the Winter Paladins' coach, said that he was proud of his players. "They had some setbacks, but they are not giving up."

It was the most impressive victory in Eizen National Team history since the Empire was victorious in the Cherry Cup years ago.

Few were able to accurately describe the outcome, but Eizen Coach Reg Dunlop gave it a shot.

"Decimation, carnage, mayhem. It's everything that we aspire to bring to the ice. No offense to our competitors from...however the hell you say it. They brought their best game and they have some real talented guys but they are not used to our hard hitting style of play. The result is not indicative of how we will fare for the rest of the tournament, but other teams are going to have to think twice about how they approach us now and i'm sure a few guys are going to start sleeping with the lights on."

When coach Dunlop was asked where his team had made improvements, he wasted little time in pointing out where he thought he saw it.

"Definitely the forecheck, in that second period it seemed like we spent the entire time in their end taking shots firing away at will. We picked up the rebounds in front of the net pretty well but they were punished each time they tried to clear. The referees didn't call it very tight which suited us, I hope it stays that way the rest of the tourney."

Scoring a Hat Trick was Perry Getzlav, with two assists each from Paavo Selanne and Ryan Roberts. Paavo Selanne scored a power play goal to increase his all time Eizen National points total to 72, and his all time leading goals total to 40.

George Pathos made good on his promise to beat the snot out of an opposing teams player, after pummelling an opposing player after said player made the unfortunate move of taking a whack at Eizen goaltender Sebastian Jigair, Pathos intervened and quickly leveled his foe with an uppercut. Pathos had already managed an assist at that point on a Karn Gorechild wrist shot, and later he would complete the unlikely Gordie Howe Hat Trick by scoring the team's seventh goal late in the game.

The win pushed the Imperial team into second place in the group behind Valanora, who narrowly defeated Eizen in the first game by a 2-1 margin. Their next match takes place against Cotdelapoms, who will certainly be fighting hard to try and get into the play in round.

QAZOX NEWS FAULTY REPORT GIVES COTDELAPOMAIS SOMETHING TO BE UPSET ABOUT RATHER THAN POOR ON-ICE PERFORMANCE

Certainly Les Pommes de Glace have performed horrendously thusfar in the World Cup of Hockey, losing 7-0 to Valanora and now 4-0 to Qazox, a true disappointment to all the fans back home in hockey mad Cotdelapoms. These demolitions have certainly tempered expectation for the new Anser Premier League competition featuring clubs from Rushmori nations Cotdelapoms, Greater Cotswalds, Nova Cambria et PBI and Non-Equatorial Corolla.

Years of isolation have left us behind in hockey skill, though not in hockey passion. And the proof that we are miles ahead in hockey passion? Outrage amongst the Cotdelapomais hockey community over fictitious goals in a report out of Qazox, suggesting Les Pommes de Glace lost 6-0, rather than the 4-0 that was the actual score.

The nation's most popular hockey blog, Two For Obstruction ran with the story, posting false articles all day the day after the oversight, including "Qazox Actually A Very Nice Place Full of Modest People", "Serge Laliberté is Most Defensively Responsible Player in APL" and "Cotdelapomais People Elated With Four-Line Play at World Cup!"

None of the Cotdelapomais players had heard of the incident, although few wanted to discuss their experiences in and with Qazox after the match. When told of what was going on online, Guillaume Lajeunesse said simply "That's the internet for you..."

"Welcome to the pre-game conference. We have the SSF Couple, Lara the Roving Reporter, Chuck, Mike, and Ozerov. Let's begin with the question - how is Shofercia doing so far, and what can they do to improve the game?"

SSF Husband: "Dominate, dominate, dominate. Get those loose pucks. Pick up the rebounds. Keep on winning faceoffs. We're playing great, *knock on wood* let's keep it up."

SSF Wife: "Also keep on winning all of those fights ;)"

Lara: "I think it's wonderful that we're second place in the league, and first in the division. Our goaltenders have been phenomenal, which is also a good thing, especially when we're about to play Kelssek. We're also having great fan support, which is always a plus for our boys on the ice!"

Chuck: "I think it's important to note Kelssek's amazing defensive capabilities. They are one of the three teams in the League, that only missed a single goal. On the other hand, we have scored the second-most goals, and I think we would have scored the most goals, it's just that our boys held back a bit during the last game, to save up all their strength for this one. In essence, we have the highest scoring team in the division, play against a team that only allowed a single goal, during the entire tournament. It will be your classic offensive-defensive battle. We must watch out for their counterattacks, if we are to win".

Mike: "I should also note that Shofercia has been phenomenal on the powerplay and penalty kill *knock on wood* and we need to continue this trend. This will enable us to get a bit rowdy with Kelssek. However, we're out there to score, not to injure - we don't play that kind of hockey. We also have great line changes going, and in each game, we were able to wear out the opponent, and came out dominant in the third period. We must continue this trend."

Ozerov: "I agree with everything that's been said. We need to keep our line rotations going, that is the key. Victor Stolichnuy will be in the net. He has a shutout against Corraidh, and allowed two goals in against the Allamunnic States. He is will rested, [Erema Aleksandrov played against Knomasia] and is ready to rock and roll. He's averaging 1 goal(s) against average per game, and boasts a 97% save rating, and he will need to keep those numbers against Kelssek. The faceoff dominance must continue. The passing, the combinations, the sniping. We know we can win, we've been phenomenal, going above and beyond any fan expectations. But we also know that we are playing Kelssek on their home ice, where they have yet to be defeated. I believe in our team. We have already clinched the playoffs, and will get the three day break period. Expect both squads, Kelssek's and ours, to go all out in this game. It's going to be one heck of a match."

"Thank you for the comments. And now, let's take a look at some of the press. Here is an article that nicely sums up the game with the Allamunnic States:"

Shofercia Defeats the Allamunnic States' Tide in the Most Watched non-playoff Game

After Shofercia's dominating performance of 4-0 over Corraidh and 5-1 over Ganjapolis, over one billion in Shofercia tuned in to watch as Shofercia faces off against the Allamunnic States, second in the division. The game was lively, with both teams skating and shooting with breathtaking speed. A beautiful combination, started by Charlie Shen resulted in Gordo Bomb's goal. Bomb won the faceoff in Shofercia's defensive zone, slipped the puck to Shen, who banked it off the boards to go around the Tide's defenseman. Utilizing speed, Shen was approaching the Tide's goal, but realized that the goaltender was in the way. He passed the puck back to Cake Adamov, who placed it perfectly on the stick of Gordo Bomb, who hit the near upper nine, a shot that no goaltender could have saved. It all happened in under a second. Shofercia 1-0. In the first period, Shofercia barely out shot the Tide, 12-11. But one of those was the goal.

Second period started with the Tide seeking vengeance. The attacked Shofercia's goal non-stop, Stolichnuy making amazing saves. On one of the attacks, the Tide's players overestimated their own strength, and got caught on the counterattack, while in the middle of a change. Pashka Bren, graciously accepting the stretch pass from Dmitri Turchinski, came one on one with the goalie, and put one between his legs. Shofercia 2-0. Unfortunately the Shofercians decided to "take it easy" after that goal, and were promptly reminded of their error by Theo Braannur. Shofercia still led the game, but the score was 2-1. Ouch! The game picked up, as the Tide renewed their attacks with vigor. On one of the counterattacks, late in the second period, Tigrov lost the puck to Dani Andicek, who took a slapshot and nailed the upper niner. Game was tied. During the second period, Shofercia was outshot, 10-22.

Third period started, and Shofercia went on the attack, and rarely left the Tide's zone. I don't know exactly what Coach Uriev said inside the locker room, but in the third period, Shofercia simply had more heart, playing to their full potential, outshooting the Tide 21-5. The final shot ended up being a goal. Tigrov, who badly needed to redeem himself, dove right in front of the counterattacking Tide player, just as the Tide was about to catch Shofercia during a change. The puck ricocheted right to Pashkov's stick, who just jumped on the ice. Seizing the moment, Tigrov followed, with Shofercia breifly outnumbering the Tide's players, 4 - 2. Pashkov took it to the net, faked the goalie, and passed it to Tigrov, who put the puck in the net. Shofercia 3-2. What a game! There was back and fourth. There was passing and scoring! There were fights, all won by Shofercians of course! Wow! We came in to win, and we deserved it. And we won!

"And here is another article, summing up Shofercia's game against Knomasia"

Shofercia Defeats Knomasia, and Clinches a Playoff Spot!

Shofercia cruised through an easy victory against Knomasia today, while Kelssek defeated the Allamunnic States, ensuring that both, Kelssek and Shofercia now clinched a playoff spot. Today Shofercia will battle Kelssek for dominance, while Allamunnic States will play against Corraidh for the playoff spot, and Ganjapolis will square off with Knomasia, where the winner gets the privilege to not be the group loser. The game between Shofercia and Kelssek will be the most watched game. Shofercia is going to start against Kelssek just like they started against Corraidh, with the Rocket Line leading, and Stolichnuy in the net.

As expected, Shofercia won the faceoff, with Dat Pashkov leading the charge, doing a wrap around, the rebound landing on Afi Maskimov's stick, who quickly passed it back to Mark Danilov, who passed it back to Mark Andreev, who shot the puck at Knomasia's goaltender, with Frolik Aleksandrov one-timing the rebound into the net. After the goal, Shofercia began playing more defensively, and were promptly rewarded with a goal by Knomasia. Shofercians picked up the pace again, with Lev Koper leading the charge, faking out three Knomasians, before putting the puck between Knomasia's goaltender's legs. Shofercia 2-1. Shofercia outshot Knomasia 14-8 in the first.

Second period brought on a few good rushes, but nothing too exciting, from either side. Shofercians were experimenting with new combinations, while Knomasians were trying to find holes in Shofercia's defense. For the first time, Shofercia outshot a team in the second period, by a thin margin of 19-17.

The third period began with fights and fireworks, Shofercians winning those. Knomasians stunned. Coach Uriev chuckled, having boxers train the team really paid off on the ice. For a while, the third period turned into a three on three. Knomasians did a phenomenal counterattack, only to find Aleksandrov making a perfect save. Shofercians quickly went on the counterattack, but failed to capitalize. Midway through the third, Knomasians were out of gas. Shofercians redoubled their efforts, with Dat Pashkov finally putting the puck in the net, with 14 seconds left on the clock. Knomasians never got a chance to pull their goalie, as Shofercias were in their zone the entire last half of the third period, outshooting Knomasians 23-4 in the third.

Team Shofercia is eager and rested to play against Kelssek for the position of group leader. Hopefully the Allamunnic States tired out Kelssek.

ISPN Special Coverage of the Eizen National Team at World Cup XIII

The long awaited return to prominence for the Eizen National team has finally arrived.

In what many reporters from around the country are already calling the most competitive and exciting game of this World Cup the Eizen team outlasted Cotdelapoms by a score of 3-2. The win clinched a guaranteed berth into the next round for the Eizen National Team as the second place team in Group C.

Despite seeing his shutout streak snapped midway through the first period, Sebastian Jigar showed once again why he is still considered the best goaltender in Eizen, and with rumors of his retirement around the corner, he showed what it meant to be considered the best by stopping every shot he faced in the third period, including a breakway attempt created as an Eizen Power Play expired and the Cotdelapom defender connected on an amazing pass down the ice behind the Eizen defensemen. The sprawling glove save will responate with fans for years to come. The save was key in recapturing the lost momentum from the failed power play, and as time wound down it was a younger superstar who showed Eizen fans that the future is slowly becoming the present.

With two and a half minutes left to play Ryan Roberts brought the puck into the zone and dangled around the Cotdelapom defenseman, spinning between the defensemen and the goaltender while retaining control of the puck, by the time he had finished his maneuver there was half of a wide open net for him to slam the puck home into.

Eizen withstood a flurry in the final moments, including a near goal when the sixth attacker was on and a melee ensued in front of the net, however, Jigair was able to cover the puck just in time.

The Eizen players were ecstatic over the win, but the swagger was noticeably different this time.

"They gave us a good clean fight, and we like to fight." Said Mack "Boomstick" Matthews in a postgame interview. Sure we tried to punch out their lights but it wasn't like we were trying to do it because they were taking cheap shots at us like those jerkoffs we sometimes play exhibitions against in Seanaverystan. It was competitive fire pure and simple.

Noted enforcer George Pathos was quick to agree. "Hey I gotta admit these guys can take a punch. They were fighting for their lives though gotta give 'em credit."

The Cotdelapoms fell to 5th place in the group behind Dutch Africa as a result and thus eliminated from further play in the tournament. Also advancing from Group C was unbeaten Valanora who defeated Eizen in the first round of group play but even with the loss the signs for a deeper run exist. Valanora outscored all other opponents 19-0, but against Eizen the result was a less spectacular 2-1 victory.

"It would make for a good rematch no doubt" said Eizen coach Reg Dunlop. "We're hoping for it in fact, they weren't expecting us to give them a game and we did, and since then we have only gotten better."

After the win the Emperor decreed that further NAtional Team-related tax credits will be issued to parents whose children participate in Sports Ministry Sanctioned youth leagues.

The Tide had rolled sufficiently, as they bounced back from back to back losses to put themselves in a play-in round against Krytenia.

"The plans and schemes of tyrants are broken by many things. They shatter against cliffs of heroic struggle. They rupture on reefs of open resistance. And they are slowly eroded, bit by little bit, on the very beaches where they measure triumph, by countless grains of sand. By the stubborn little decencies of humble little men." -Eric Flint, Belisarius II: In The Heart of Darkness

Greater Cotswalds Exits the World Cup of Hockey
First time appearance in tournament ends after major loss

Fans of the Arctic Foxes felt the highs and lows this tournament. The joys of a first game win by a narrow margin, the crushing loss, a narrow loss, a solid win and then yet another crushing loss. The final loss to Delaclava sealed the fate of the team. Had the loss not been so massive, or a win squeaked out, the Arctic Foxes would have likely lived to see another day in the play-off to get the round of 16.

Captain Markko Hall kept positive, "You know we had a good run, some good play and bad, but we came fourth, which is good and we get to go home and get ready for the APL"

Ready for the APL is right, soon the new Anser Premier League, the joining of the Greater Cotswalds and Cotdelapomais hockey leagues to form one super league, also featuring a team each from Nova Cambria et PBI and Non-Equatorial Corolla. Cotdelapoms ended their campaign this evening as well, finishing fifth in their group.

Through their spokesman the team thanked host country Kelssek for a well run tournament and wished their competitors all the best. They will return to Greater Cotswalds in a few days.

A 5-0 victory over Dutch Africa and Qazox is in the playoffs against Plutoni in the play-in round. Debbie Woods and each had 2 goals leading the way. While not one of the top 2 teams in the group Qazox recover enough from the 0-2 start and Plutoni finished 3rd in their group as well.

Recent history between the 2 teams has favored Plutoni, but if Qazox can knock off the 3 time champions, then perhaps the recent slump might be over and Qazox can be numbered amongst the best in the world again.
