2nd Qazoxian Sports Festival

Postby Qazox » Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:34 pm

The Qazoxian National Association of Fringe Sports or QNAFS is pleased that funding for the Second Qazox Sports Festival has been approved and is also pleased to open up limited sign-ups for the events. (Xscorinate will be used to scorinate)

All of these sports are played in Qazox, but usually at either a intramural level in college or rec-club level post-college.

The Qazoxian Sports Festival will feature the following sports:
(new events in BOLD!)

Volleyball (Men's & Women's indoor)
Volleyball (Men's & Women's beach)
Water Polo (men's and Women's )
Golf (men's)
Golf (women's)
Lacrosse (Co-ed)
Tennis (Men's and Women's)

The team Maximum limits are as follows:
Volleyball (indoor)- ONE team of 6 players and 2 subs. (for both male and female teams)
Volleyball (Beach)- ONE team of 2 players. (for both male and female teams)
Water Polo- ONE team of 7 players and 3 subs.
Lacrosse- ONE team of 10 players and 5 subs.
Golf- TWO players (1 male, 1 female)
Tennis- TWO players (1 male, 1 female)

MAXIMUM entrants for Beach volleyball: 20 teams.
MAXIMUM entrants for Indoor Volleyball: 20 teams.

Indoor Volleyball: best 2 of 3 sets, playing to 25 with the must-win-by-2 rule in effect (ie: if you lead 25-24, you must get 26 to win); with the 3rd set playing to 15.

Beach volleyball: best 2-of-3 sets, playing to 21 with the must-win-by-2 rule in effect.

Golf will be a 4-round stroke play event, with lowest score winning. In case of a tie after 72 holes, a 4-hole playoff will be used. (if still tied after 76 holes, playoff will continue under match-play rules [first to win a hole wins the title]).

Tennis will either be a round-robin or a single elimination event (depends on # of signups).
Men will play best 3-of-5 sets, with must-win by 2 games for 5th set (ie 8-6, 9-7...).
Women will play best 2-of-3 sets, with must-win by 2 games for 3rd set.

Lacrosse and Water polo will have ties in pool play. For medal round, Overtime for Lacrosse will be a 10 minute Golden Goal (first to score wins) OT, followed by best of 5 shootout. For medal round, in Water Polo, 5 minute OT's until a goal is scored.

With the Golfinator Open, Kemball Island Open and, presumably, World Lacrosse Championship all set to start soon, won't there be a clash for a number of sports?

Is this for fully 'national'-level entrants or -- like your Winter Sports festival -- only for 'collegiate'-level ones?
In either case, Bears Armed will send teams for the Water Polo (males and females) and the Lacrosse.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

In men's lacrosse, yes. There are three defenders, three midfielders, three attackmen and one goaltender. In women's lacrosse, there are 12 players. Not sure of the complete breakdown there.
