The Krytenian Football Association presents:

The Fifteenth Di Bradini Cup
a.k.a
The 36th Under-21 World Cup

The Krytenian Football Association presents, for the second time, the latest edition of its neighbours' famed Under-21 international tournament, now generally recognised as the successor to the old Under-21 World Cup, as the regularity and prestige that has now become attached to the DBC means it has inherited the old Cup's legacy.

As we still weren't allowed to call this edition the "Vernazza Cup" (come on, SFA, don't be keeperist!), this tournament is named after Starblaydia's most-famous player, the first person to score for Starblaydia's own Under-21s, currently the fifth-highest goalscorer in Starblaydia's history, World Cup Winner member of the World Cup Hall of Fame and one-time President of the World Cup Committee: Simeone Di Bradini.

The git.

Anyway, we present, for your participation: The 15th Di Bradini Cup, a.k.a. The 36th Under-21 World Cup!

"Come in!" Kiras Lahedile's voice sounded soft but having the authority of a wise man. The president of the ASR was not used to raising the voice because he was heard and followed despite the lack of volume.

"I come" replied Ekarin Samika. His voice was also low, but quick and nervous. He was not quite sure why he was asked to meet the president of the ASR. He was one of the people who explained that the unification of the leagues was the worst thing which could happen because it would relegate some very excellent teams into the fourth league somewhere and the promotion of only one team per league made it hard to revert this. Whenever the media needed someone to comment on the league system, they chose Samika'he, the coach of the non-league team Ixkela Sekhika.

"Non-league" in Rejistania says nothing about the quality but about the league they are playing in. The non-league sides play in other leagues than the official ASR ones. in the Rejistanian cup, these sides can qualify via the so-called "Xamjona'het'ny Nanti" or "Nanticals" and tend not even to be bad teams.

"Hejida tahoj letva." the president greeted his harshest critic politely.

"Hejida tahoj xesyn." the coach replied. He chose not to tell that he was no longer a letva'he, a coach anymore since he resigned in protest when the league Ixkela Sekhika played in, the Heven'het Inkaril announced its unification with the ASR and its integration into the ASR league system.

"I hope, that I have not inconvenienced you too much with asking you to come here. Ixkela prepares for its nantical, su?"

"I am no longer associated with Ixkela because they are going to end up in the H5SR in a geographically not even near region in the ASR league system. I handed in my resignation today."

"Now, now. It is not going to be so bad for them, they have all the chances to end up in the H2SR kisut."

"You know my stance on the ASR."

Kiras smiled. "And yet you are here with the president of the organisation you despise."

"I can honor you as a person by listening to you, especially since you have the simu* to invite a critic like me here."

"You are a person who I like for this. To you, honor is not just a word, neither is dedication."

"I am trying." he replied to this compliment.

"I think we both have a common interest though and this is why I invited you here."

"What are you refering to?"

"You did state that many talents are not perceived as such because they play in the non-league clubs and that this segregation hurts the national team."

"I did, yes." he agreed, not sure where this would lead to.

"I agree that this is a very important issue. The non-league sides have some pretty amazeing young talent but it is generally overlooked. We would need a U21 coach, who is aware of the existance of these leagues."

"This is an interesting idea."

"I am glad you think so. H1SR or Heven'het jasam, we all are rejistanians and have a dedication to our country."

"I do agree with you, to a point." he said, trying to avoid being forced into somthing in the name of patriotism. "How does that relate to me?"

"I remember you saying that you would never coach an HxSR club. I do not remember you saying something like this about working directly for the ASR. Especially, I want to emphasis that you never stated anything about working for the U21."

"Tahoj xesyn?" He was confused.

"I think you know what I mean. If not, maybe you will be thrilled to know that the regulations that a player of a national team must not play in the rejistanian non-league no longer exist. If Mahele'he** or whoever becomes the new U21 coach wants to call up players from non-league sides, they are free to do so."

"You mean..."

"I mean that this is a pretty big crow to eat for me as well as it will be for you, but I think it is better for us all, for the nation."

Ekarin Samika had expected several things to happen during this meeting, threats (legal or even physical), scare tactics, but not this. It was quite a shock to him that Kiras Lahedile acted in this way. It probably was tactic to discredit him and his integrity, but there were worse things which could have been done for that. Lahedile'he was right about this being a crow to eat, but then, it was the chance of his lifetime. "I am very honored by the trust you put in me... I will try my best to be worth it."

We told you things were going to be drastically different with Secristani Soccer now.

Presenting the first-ever ALL-EQUINE team. This fine group of thoroughbreds competed in the horse racing season when it was run. Then through some magical phenomena they have attained human-like characteristics. Can they do what the humans could not?

How did this happen?
Who cares. The Secristan Department of Sports just knows that it will make money.

Do remember that this is a team a fully mature horses. Therefore, they are going to be much faster, stronger and bigger then your players, unless you are fielding Bears (which would be a pretty awesome game). Keep that in mind then RP’ing against them.

Starting Lineup:
Goalkeeper:
Dream Account: 3 year old colt. Was one of the slower racehorses that competed for Secristan, so the team has felt it would be best for him not to run much and remain in goal.

Defense:
Coin Jar Rattle: 3 year old colt. Specializes in running on the turf, and at distances greater then a mile. This should allow him to cover a lot of ground on the left side.

Exploited Intern: 4 year old filly. Won several key races during the horse racing season and ended up in stake company. Like Coin Jar Rattle, she is a turf/route specialist, but she is faster. This gives us confidence in her ability to handle pressure in the middle.

Loophole Insurance: 4 year old colt. Didn’t have a ton of success on the track, but he is owned by the CEO of Loophole Life Insurance, who of course cannot miss the opportunity for free marketing here.

Oil Tycoon: 8 year old stallion. Has bred several winners, and is the sire of Dream Account. Though he is older for a horse, the team is using the technicality that the entry form just says “Under-21", which he is.

Midfield:
Quality Avenue: 4 year old colt. Winner of Multiple Stakes during the horse racing season, and even raced in the Breeders Cup at the end of the year. Another turf/route horse, his speed and endurance makes him a deadly midfielder along the wing.

Di Bradini Seven: 3 year old colt. Ain’t this ironic? The horse that was named in honor of our lone Di Bradini Championship is now actually going to be in a Di Bradini Cup himself!

Miss Prospector: 3 year old filly. One a coveted “Triple Crown” race, and was seen as one of the top overall horses on the entire circuit. She can do it all, and that’s a great trait in an attacking midfielder.

Zenyota: 6 year old mare. Biggest horse on the field, and has developed the best shot on the team. She also ran in stakes company.

Forwards:
Crash the Rocket: 3 year old filly. The only horse not from Lovable Weirdos to ever beat Carlie Banana. Chances are you don’t understand that sentence, so just take our word in that being an amazing accomplishment.

Riches to Rags: 4 year old gelding. Got off to a slow start, but once he broke his maiden, the gritty gelding was one of the better performers late in the season.

Coach: Eduardo Dominguez: Rode many of these horses during the season.

On the bench- substitutes:
Pirates Treasure (GK)
Server Error (CB)
Paper Cut (CB)
Alexandra Rachelle (MID)
Big bad n Gray (MID)
Thunderhoof (ST)
Stolen Base (ST)

Reserves:
Tax Write Off (GK)
Nuclear Armageddon (CB)
Winter Bird (MID)
My Accountant (MID)
Dontbetonme (ST)

Style Mod: -2
RP Permissions: Do as you wish within reason considering we are an all-equine team.

A difficult group to face

Krytenia: Well things aren't looking too good for us at the minute, we have drawn three strong teams in what should be called the group of death. Seriously if I wasn't an extreme atheist I would think the gods were angry with us. I think we will have trouble getting out of this group and if we do go through the group we are paired with is the other group of death. I mean seriously!

Well anyway the teams we have to face aren't going to be easy, but the Di Bradini cup is never easy. We will face Starblaydia, they won the last cup and founded the cup so it won't be easy or simple. The next team we have to face is Queer Poco el Mono Ara. Not only is it impossible to pronounce it also has a very good youth side which we fear to play. And finally we have Secristan, they won't be a walk in the park at all and it will be hard to beat them.

The sad thing is we thought we could show those Teroians what we're made of this cup by winning it or at least going far. But it seems to be set in stone already that we are to struggle to the end. Still we can try to show them up by beating Starblaydia. They beats them in a round of 16 once, but it was at a time where Starblaydia were struggling with their youth team so, bah! If we beat them now then they would have to admit that we were better than them.

The thing is if we go through we will either have to face Delaclava, Teroi's old youth rivals. The reason for that is they lost to Delaclava in a quarter-final once and since then they have wanted to beat them. But they never have so maybe that is the way we will prove them worse than us. Or Osarius who came third last time. Anyway we have no rivalries yet so this will be more pleasant for us than it was for Teroi.

Osarius Under-21s Squad for Di Bradini Cup 15

For most of recent history, Osarians are known more for being strong, athletic players lacking in technique and tactical awareness for the most part. This has slowly been changing, and now, while the under 21s are an athletic side, they are packed with some extremely gifted technical players. Mostly down to the efforts of high-profile youth coaches - most notably Elissa Barca-Carthy - and OFA rules which encourage the use of younger players in domestic play.

The coach of the team is Alain Montblanc, who has had a relatively low profile career as a coach until last time around in the Di Bradini Cup, when he led the Flying Sparks - as the under-21s are affectionately known - to the final. His favourite assistant is Elissa Barca-Carthy, who is unfortunately unavailable for this tournament as she is undertaking a managerial assignment on behalf of the OFA, in Cassadaigua. Montblanc prefers to play a more tactical, controlled game than di Corradi, and it is reflected in his squad selections and tactics. By awarding the captain's armband to his central midfielder (as he did in the past, too) he is anchoring the team's focus on the centre of the pitch, where he is often quoted as believing the game is won or lost.

As captain of the team, Ayanna Barca-Carthy is expected to lead the team according to Montblanc's tactics and ensure that possession is maintained. Her steely attitude, seemingly infallible positioning, and tough tackling come as a combination of her mother's tactical awareness, and her father's physical approach to sport (expected from a GraviBall coach, really). She played a crucial role in marshalling the midfield for her club side last season, as they defied the odds to finish mid-table after their promotion. She will be expected to carry that form over to the Flying Sparks and lead them - hopefully - to consecutive DBC finals.

RP Permissions: Anything goes, really. Just no deaths please, and try to make it fun and interesting! If you want more information on Osarian playing styles and culture, just TG me. I'm always happy to co-operate on RP angles.

#14 - Olive Lawrence - 19 years old - Striker [Burningham City F.C.]
#15 - Harvey Decker - 20 years old - Centre Back [Grasshoppers Turic F.C.]

#21 - Jade Gross - 17 years old - Left Midfield [AFC Hollybrent]
#22 - Pepito - 17 years old - Attacking Midfield [Real Jraxville F.C.]
#23 - Federico Agnelli - 19 years old - Right Back [Muirford Athletic F.C.]

Alain Montblanc returns with the remnants of his finalists from last time (there's not that many left) and a new wave of kids. The team retains a young but experienced goalkeeper in Marco Corradini (still on loan from Burningham City) at the back, with olympic gold medallist Tanya Potter, and untested but promising Renneville custodian Damian Berenguer as the third choice.

The defence is predominantly female, with Katherine Holland at the heart of things, pulling the strings alongside two of her U23 teammates (Rebecca Moses and Melanie Farmer). On the bench, there are two notable backups in the form of Federico Agnelli - said to be one of the best attacking fullback prospects in Osarius - and Harvey Decker, Roberto Cormega's tip as the successor to Tay Gidds. Colin Bannan provides the male presence at the back, with his propensity toward making runs down the flank, he is sure to be a regular in this team, which is built on counterattacking principles.

The midfield represents a change from the norm in Osarius, as there is a solid five-man midfield, led by the team's captain Ayanna Barca-Carthy. On the right, we find Enrico Martelli, the OFA Young Player of the Year and probable long-term replacement for Benni Watson, with the ambidextrous, yet much lesser-known, Stewart Coby opposite him on the left. The middle three is typically made up of captain Barca-Carthy, alongside two attacking players (sometimes even a forward will drop deep to play in midfield). However, there is also scope for her to line up alongside the versatile and dependable Garcia twins. Pepito will be looking to link up with his clubmate too, and establish himself as a potential choice for the senior Firebirds in future.

Up front, its unlikely that any forward can dislodge Dante Speranzo as first choice. Salamo Suarez is surely the second choice, though (when he isnt playing a deeper role). Domenico Caporaso is looking to break into the international scene after an impressive season with Paper Tree Town, despite their relegation.

The U21 pre-report – Why we cannot win

Ekarin... who? The ASR selected of all possible people Ekarin Samika. Do we know this person? Well, yes, however not for the soccer but for the anti-xentiran and anti-ASR opinions. He also served one term in the federal parliament in the List of the Rekijos and the rekijonalism. Ie: he is a politician and a rekijonalist and thus opposed to the existance of the rejistanian state. His experience in soccer is limited to coaching various non-league sides. And now he coaches the national team. This looks like a political nomination if we ever saw one. ASR president Kiras Lahedile seems to think a U21 disaster is a price to pay for getting rid of an annoying critic.

The Team Ekarin selected various unexpected players. It seems as if he looked for players who made an impression on him in the Nanticals. Nanti Kivsi is vastly overrepresented and even from a political correct standpoint, his team makes no sense at all. There were unwritten laws that certain people are represented inthe national team be it only as substitute. He ignored these rules as if there were no ethnic tensions. When he was asked why he chose this lineup, he said that it was the best one. It seems that he is the only one still believing in a success.

Jiajia Ekarin's judgement was clouded by the fact that Xia "Jiajia" El-Kex was in his previous team. There is no reason to think that there is a sport-related reason for calling up an autist from a non-league team. While I have not seen him play, in all the film clips I saw of him, he moved back and forth and seemed to be genuinly desinterested in the people around him. I doubt that a person who shows such desinterest in his teammates can be a worthwhile player.

Cassadaigua actually has a worthwhile soccer team and we also expect their youth team to be good as well. Yes, they are a team of women, but this might form a problem for the hormone-infested Rejistani youth team.

The rest of the opponents in group stage Both Swartaz and Cotdelapoms probably can give their substitutes some international experience in the match against the Orange-Blues and still win comfortably. It is highly unlikely that Jiajia will be a danger to their defenses and seeing that the team is far less karelan than it used to be, they are probably able to score at will.

(OOC: Incomplete, more details will be added as soon as I can get this done...)

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Team: ‘Bears Armed’, alias "The Bear-Bellettes"...

Please note that this team represents both portions of ‘Bears Armed’, the ‘Mainland’ and the ‘Northlands’.

Yes, this is still an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer instead — and trying to establish a professional league for that — might be a viable alternative: That professional league was founded shortly after WC44, and so has now been in operation for a bit over thirty years.

As far as BA is concerned this Cup is taking place in 2044AD.

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
(Chairbear: Harroya ‘of the Rovers’ o Redwood [Chairbear of Merlchester Rovers S.C.; previously Captain of the Bear-Belles for some years…]]
National anthem: ‘Peace’.

All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears), except those whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’ instead. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

Staff

Manager & Chief Coach:
Deputy Manager (Practical): Karra Caroline Thunder (female Human from Clan Gunnar, daughter of ‘Arri Thunder’ who was the “main” team’s first manager, played as a Midfielder in DBC13; graduated from National University [Council Groves] with a BSc in Sports Science and has added an MBA to that since then; was hired as a trainee manager shortly before ‘Oxen Cup 14’ ; age = 27, hair = fair, right-footed, tends to be serious most of the time but can rrreally party when she decides to let her hair down…)

Deputy Manager (Admin): Urradarra o SwanWater (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; formerly Deputy Manager of the Heroes’ Park Harlequins, and more recently a staff member at BAMAS [as it then was], originally appointed to this job for ‘Oxen Cup 14’; age = 36, fur = medium-brown & quite long [but fashionably so…], left-pawed).

Deputy Coaches _
Goalkeeping:

Defending:

Attacking:

Doctor: Mitzi von und zu Steiffen (female Ursine, from Clan Kettar-Surra; age = 44, left-pawed, fur = light brown.)

Physio: Gerrthra o Barrdenn (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; age = 43, left-pawed, fur = dark brown.)

Routemaster: Lieutenant-Colonel Harron o Harrha (male Ursine, from Clan BerryGlades and the Confederal Army’s General Staff Corps; age = 41, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & cut quite short: his job involves handling all of the squad’s travelling arrangements.)

Security Chief: Urrthra MoonShadow (female Ursine, Silver-of-Night Clan; she is a ‘shabear’...), who doubles as the team’s ‘One Plus Seven’ chaplain.

“Mascot”: ‘The Wise Grorrfinn (male ‘TrueBear’; age = undisclosed [but considering some of his appearances in old stories apparently somewhere over 1’500, at least...], ambidextrous, fur = medium-brown).

Roster

#1: Goalkeeper _ Charra o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Barrdenn Babes (Junior League), usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 6 years; age = 20 years, -pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & moderately long; not closely related to the namesake who was the Bear-Belles’ original goalie.

#3: Arra Thunderbolt _ Clan = Gunnar; Home team = Newton Novices [Junior League],usual position = Goalkeeper but playing as 'Left Back' instead for now, experience = 3 years; age = 16 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown.

#5: Defender _ Beorra BigBear _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Barrdenn Babes [Junior League], usual position = Right Back, experience = 3 years; age = 15 years, right-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown.

#10: Lynchpin _ Bermione Grrrowling _ Clan = GreyBear; Home team = Grambridge University (Honeysuckle League), usual position = Lynchpin, experience = 3 years; age = 18 years, ambidextrous, fur = very light brown, good eyesight even by Human standards.

#13: Midfielder _ Simone de Brarde _ Clan = WestWoods; Home team = Wiston United, usual position = Right Half, experience = 4 years; age = 19 years, right-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown; Captain.
#14: Midfielder _ Simone d’Eeenie _ Clan = WestWoods; Home team = Wiston Wanderers, usual position = Left Half, experience = 4 years; age = 19 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown.

#17: Winger _ Heorra StarWatcher _ Clan = Sun; Home team = Sun Valley Starlets (Junior League), usual position = Right Winger, experience = 5 years; age = 17 years, left-pawed, fur = golden-brown .

#20: Winger or Forward _ Urra um Karrai _ Clan = GhostBear; Home team = Barrdenn Babes, usual position = Right Winger but playing as Right Forward for now, experience = 3 years; age = 16 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown.

#24: Forward _ Beorranna o Fizzbang _ Clan = Gunnar; Home team = Newton Novices [Junior League],usual position = Left Forward, experience = 4 years; age = 16 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown.

Style: Offensive, modifier = +2.5… ("A good offence is the best defence"...)
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

________________________________

Opponents may _

Choose my goalscorers: Y (but the Forwards, and then the Wingers, are likeliest to fill this role...)
Godmod Scoring Events: Y

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.

Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

______________________________________________________

Kit: This team wears the second set of designs that ‘ediraf’ produced for the ‘Bear-Belles’, see "here" for details.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: Also, the number “22” has deliberately been left unassigned out of respect for its first [& only] wearer who died a heroine’s death during the year immediately following WC444…

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but that’s likely to be less the case for relatively young Ursines like this team’s members. They do tend to have slightly poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human -- as well as a very skilled one -- to tackle them successfully, which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with.
They're physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..

Unless our hosts object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches...

Tough Group D Awaits

The Sylvanaes Queendom returns for another shot at the Di Bradini Cup with a new group of highly talented girls who have shown some fire domestically over the past two years. Girls who have fought, scratched, and clawed their way onto this squad and now are finally ready to take on the rest of the world.

So now we will take a look at the group draw and see just who will be the first tests for the Fireflies.

Group D:

Up first will be relative newcomer and quick-riser Osarius who have been making some real noise in the sporting world lately. The last DBC saw the “Flying Sparks to an appearance in the finals. They will be ready to go and southern Krytenia should see a match that sets the tone for the rest of the tourney.

Bazalonia will be the foe on match day 2 as we once again pack the fans into Southern Arena in Ousevale. The Bazalopes were once a solid side in the World Cup and are struggling to find their new identity. This should be a great chance for us to grab three points.

On match day 3, we travel even further south to the tiny stadium in Leston. Delaclava will be the opponent and tickets should be running at a premium price as a monster match is to be expected.

With these first three opponents, the Fireflies will find out just what kind of heart and skill they have as both will be tested fiercely.

Now, off to see the sights of southern Krytenia.

Sacha Chrétien has named the 23 man U-21 squad he will be bringing to the di Brandini Cup:

FW- Benoît Ayotte (Laval) 19
FW- Antonio Collins (Celtic) 21
FW- Jackson Diawara (Cambridge Druids, Nova Cambria et PBI) 16

Feel free to do whatever you want so long as nobody gets severely injured. The team will play in a 4-5-1 formation. The Série A season just ended so a lot of these guys probably just want to rest now. Gaëtan Lachance was just as the Cup of Harmony as well. The starters generally get regular play, but many of the reserves are youth team players who don't play full senior football yet. I will RP more (some?) hopefully before the cutoff.

Karra Thunder looked across the airport concourse eagerly. Surely this plane would have brought the remainder of the Bear-Bellettes' ("That's still a silly name for a team, so when ARE they going to change it?") chosen squad for this Cup, and the rest of their management & coaching group as well? She groaned inwardly as she saw only five Ursines amongst the people now coming through the gate... and recognised that three of those were only a BABC news crew rather than some of the bears for whom she was actually waiting. Rising to her feet, she waved a sheet of cardboard bearing the team's name in the air and called out a loud cry of
"Ulloh!".
All of the newly-arrived Ursines moved towards her, with the players closing the distance rather more quickly than the newsies.

"Arra, Beorranna, it's good to see you," Karra told that duo. "Our first game is tmorrow, against the team from a country called Windows Vista Systems, and I don't know what's gone wrong back home but even with you two here it that only gives us nine players to field: Barring miracles, it looks like we'll have to play a 2-2-3 formation.... Ur'rmm, that's unless you could move outwards a bit from goalkeeping, Arra, to try playing as 'Left Back' instead for this game which would let us use Bermoione further forwards too -- as a Midfielder, rather than a Defender -- for a 2-3-3 and give us a slightly better chance?

The two newcomers looked slighlty worried, but Arra quickly rallied.
The two newcomers looked slighlty worried, but Arra quickly rallied.
"Hokay," she replied,"I'll give that a try..."

OOC: Yes, for now, the Belles are playing with only the nine players whose details I've sorted-out so far...

QPeMA DBC 15 Squad

Image

Coach – Neil Howzer. The former Skyte City manager steps into the fray to take command of the under 21’s, he likes his players to give 110% and makes no bones about dropping players he doesn’t think are playing up to standard.

Goalkeepers.

01. Davi da Guia. 19 years old. Villa Ortiz. His dad is from Cafundeu and his mum is half Pocoan half Sargossan. Plays in the Villa Ortiz youth team. He stands 6ft 9 and has an enormous reach.
13. Francois Guillaume Baudelaire. 21 years old. Reserve keeper for League I side MS Leighton. Safe hands, good kicking, all round decent keeper.
20. Cedric Skinner. 20 years old. The lad is still untested for Athletic Khaldoon and is unlikely to get a shot any time soon, a loan move to one of the lower league teams should highlight his potential.

Defence - Wingbacks

02. Jeffrey Onyewu. 20 years old. Belle-Isle on Sea. Big lad… gigantic lad, in fact. Already been tipped to play for the full team at the next World Cup. He needs a move to a big club and a strong performance here.
03. Rigobert Webo. 19 years old. Augustus. Another Augustus graduate who looks like he’ll break into the first team next season. Quick, agile, good tackler, his distribution needs a little work though.
14. Tom Longe. 21 years old. Barbossa. Signed from non-league Oxcastle Wanderers. A raw talent, but needs molding into a professional. Has a habit of making unnecessary tackles or picking the wrong pass.
15. Clancy Gibson. 19 years old. Pythons have so often bought youth, now they have a young lad who is coming through the ranks without having had to pay millions in exchange for his potential.

Defence – Centre

05. Arsenio Jackson. 19 years old. Augustus have a habit of cultivating youth and Arsenio is another lad to emerge from their ranks. Likely to break into the first team after huge number of outgoings in the transfer market. Captain
06. James St. James 20 years old. Strong towering presence, shame he can’t get a game for Atletico Palampas who nearly dropped into league 2 last season.
12. Anthony Kanu. 20 years old. Set to make an impact up in Ridgemont next season after a season on loan at Belle-Isle. He’s fast and strong and doesn’t take any prisoners when going in for a tackle.
17. Milton Holmes. 18 years old. Has thus far been a bit of a trouble maker at East Khaldoon Park scrapping with team mates and getting rowdy in nightclubs, he’s also got a tag along girlfriend who isn’t a classy lady.

Midfield – Wingers

07. Kirk Angle. 21 years old. Racing Cruzeira. For a winger he’s lacking a bit of pace, but his ball control is top notch. More likely to whip in a ball than try cut inside with it.
11. Juliano Dias Marçal. 19 years old. Salaga F.C. Can play on the left or the right. Has also been deployed at SS for Salaga. Has an eye for goal and is confident despite his youth.
22. Aydin Sukur. 19 years old. Did somebody say fast? No. Oh, well he is. Super quick, with a great touch it’s just a shame about his final ball.

Midfield - Central

04. Craig Nelson. 20 years old. Augustus. A tough tackling defensive midfielder who likes to hang back in front of the defence and mop up whatever leaks through the midfield. Set to become an Augustus regular following the clear out.
08. Oscar Gutierrez. 20 years old. Hunslet Wanderers. Relatively unknown throughout the country, but Hunslet fans know him as a ray of light in their otherwise dull existence. Great movement, superb passer of the ball and a neat finish
16. Steve Sloan. 21 years old. East Khaldoon Park. Son of formerPythons manager Mark Sloan. Steve plays across the middle and can even drop back into defence. A utility player of some talent, languishing in League II.
21. Josh Hart. 17 years old. Plays behind the strikers rather than in the middle for his club. Not likely to get a run out during the cup, but should be back next time around when he’s 19.

Strikers

09. Pete Goodyear. 20 years old. Skyte City. Played under the coach at club level. Has yet to make his league debut, but has performed well for the youth team, scoring freely with both feet
10. Vijay Kandakram. 19 years old. Skyte City. Pete’s team mate in the academy. Kandakram is a cool head and great at penalties. Honestly, he is. You don’t even wanna mess if it comes to penalties. He’ll score.
18. Bart Wilson. 18 years old. Augustus. Another member of the academy set to shine after the post season clear out, he’s got an eye for goal but can’t head the ball for toffee.
19. Duncan Oliver. 19 years old. Rydell United are pinning their hopes of promotion on the young attacker. He’s got a great engine and won’t stop running until after the final whistle.

So…. We got drawn into the last group; group H with some elves, some ponies and some juveniles, its nice being the “normals” every now and then.

Although the full men’s team has never played Starblaydia (to my recollection), it seems The Whites under 21’s come up against them on quite a regular basis and generally do pretty well, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, since our arrival on the national scene we’ve slowly closed ground on the most successful footballing nation ever and have since found ourselves 2 places behind them in the overall world rankings, with the whites currently at an all time best of 22nd.

As for Secristan, well, we’ve had our history with them but don’t know much about this horse malarkey and to be honest find ourselves a little scared to pass comment on the goings on over there… Let’s just hope they are more Teenage Mutant Hero Horses than football playing centaurs.

Kazzoria make up the 4 and come from Rushmore… *shrug* we don’t really know much else about them other than the fact they have some of the youngest players on show in the competition. Maybe we shouldn’t take them too lightly, but they are essentially kids and might not be worrying manager Neil Howzer.

Ignorance appears to be the mainstay of this 15th DBC campaign for The Whites camp who own up to knowing sod all about host nation, Krytenia. Captain Arsenio Jackson has stated “he wouldn’t be able to pick Krytenia out on a map.” And that he “doesn’t even know any stereotypes about the local birds… are they fit?” He’s not the only one, Skyte City striker, Vijay Kandakram was over heard in the airport saying “are there any dangerous animals in Krytenia? Like poisonous snakes or big spiders?” a question nobody could answer but incurred a number of shrugged shoulders and confused faces.

The Whites begin their Under 21’s journey with a game against Kazzoria and will be hoping to get off to a flyer with a win at the 39,000 seater Scholars Park, Walton
