For rosters, posting of play-style info, and all RP.

Just a reminder, style modifiers range +5 to -5, and all games will be played in Bluth Corporation so there's no need to post stadium info along with your rosters.

Team: Iron Tide
City: Non-Afilliated (National Team)
Stadium: Hero's Memorial Stadium a.k.a "The Iron Bowl" (Capacity: about 115,000, Blue Turf Field) (Vienna)
Team Colors: Blue and Grey/Silver, Black
Head Coach: Wilhelm Studdenberger

Overview:
Mentality: Excited, Slightly Irritated
As the first true "national team" the Iron Tide is new to the world of international gridiron: the team replaces the Vienna Barrons, who made the team's unsuccessful run in the World Bowl, falling 4-6 after the first round of ten games. The Iron Tide, because of its high number of Barrons players, however, is generally frustrated with their previous performance, and look to make up for their mediocre showing at the World Bowl by winning the Silver Bowl. This team differs from the World Bowl team in that players from other FGIL teams have been integrated, most notably QB Corinne Daniels and WR James Breen, who led the Nashville Wolverines to a national championship last year.

Offense:
The Tide use a run-and-gun offense, though having a strong line and running back corps, running is still the Tide's strength, though there is one strong passing quarterback and one diverse quarterback in the mix, so there aren't any real limits on the Tide's playing. Two-point conversions are attempted whenever it is logical. Field goals are attempted often enough, whenever it is a semi-realistic option (within 55 yards) and the offense has had trouble picking up steam. Watch for QB Theo Rickenbacher and TE Eric Drake, or QB Corinne Daniels and WR James Breen. The line is entirely made up of Barrons players.

Defense:
The Tide is all about hitting hard and up-front. They use a 4-3 set-up (though they have been known to fall back on a 30-stack), largely, and place a large emphasis on strong pass rushes and blitzing. The secondary is strong enough, but is not such that it can be called a major strength of the team. The Iron's defense is largely retained from the Barrons, and is meant to give the offense the room it needs to do its work. The defense is still largely made up of Barrons players, especially at line positions.

If you RP a game before me / permission box:
Choose my scorers: I'd prefer it if I chose, but if necessary, yes
Choose scoring events: I'd prefer it if I chose them, but if necessary, yes.
RP injuries to my players: Yes [Just don't kill anyone, and preferably nothing permanent or career-ending.]
Godmod injuries: Yes, preferrably nothing permanent or career ending w/o permission.
Godmod "other" events: Yes, but please try and stay reasonable about it. No stadiums exploding, crazed assassins, terrorist attacks, etc. Again, don't kill anyone or end careers here. Snow and crap is OK.
BTW, it turns out now that I'm going to be away for the duration of the tournament (rats), so all permissions are given to whoever I play (Sibiresky, and anyone else if I make it past the first round)

Re: Silver Bowl I Everything Thread

Postby The Babbage Islands » Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:57 am

The Babbage Islands national team roster is unchanged from World Bowl 7, although some lineup shuffling has occurred.

STYLE: +3
GO FOR TWO: No.
OVERVIEW: The Bumblebees have returned to a pass-oriented attack, featuring four wideouts as described in the posted starting lineup. The team is more likely to attempt very long field goals than most teams; kicker Angela DiFilippo has kicked a 63-yarder and five FGs in a game in international play. The defence now lines up three on the front line and four linebackers; the secondary aggressively plays for interceptions. In addition to KR Howard Desmond, free safety Sara Hirsch is often an additional kick returner.

RP PERMS: If you RP first, you may assign my scorers and scoring events, and may RP injuries to my players that will not normally remove them for more than one game. Godmods, if any, should be limited to scoring events only.

Head coach: Bill Julian

Bettia's roster for the Silver Bowl also remains unchanged from the World Bowl.

In keeping with your average Bettian's Takilan leanings, spectators can be sure of plenty of ambitious passing plays and a lot of blitzes (or at least, attempted blitzes). The coaching staff have also been preparing the team rigorously, with special emphasis on going for two-point conversion plays at every opportunity - that's the Bettian side of the team psyche again, always wanting to score as much as possible without bothering to consider the consequences.

OK, here it is: the Silver Bowl schedule announcement.

Teams are seeded based on performance in the last World Bowl...we have ten entries, so the bottom four seeds will each play a single play-in game to determine the last two spots in the tournament: #10 vs. #7, and #8 vs. #9. The highest-seeded team to win its game will be the #7 seed in the 8-team tournament, and the other winner will be the #8 seed.

Seedings:
  1. Lanceo: 5-5, -32 PD
  2. Delaclava: 5-5, -32 PD
  3. The Babbage Islands: 5-5, -75 PD
  4. Sibirsky: 5-5, -89 PD
  5. The Fanboyists: 4-6, -63 PD
  6. Bluth Corporation: 4-6, -67 PD
  7. Chetssaland: 4-6, -92 PD
  8. Palmouth: 4-6, -125 PD
  9. Iglesian Archipelago: 2-8, -159 PD
  10. Bettia: 1-9, -132 PD

Schedule:
Monday, July 20:
G1: #10 Bettia vs. #7 Chetssaland @ Titan Bowl
G2: #9 Iglesian Archipelago vs. #8 Palmouth @ Titan Bowl

Tuesday, July 21:
G3: Highest-seeded winner from G1 and G2 vs. #1 Lanceo @ Solzhenitsyn Field
G4: #5 The Fanboyists vs. #4 Sibirsky @ Farnsworth Field
G5: #6 Bluth Corporation vs. #3 The Babbage Islands @ Solzhenitsyn Field
G6: Lowest-seeded winner from G1 and G2 vs. #2 Delaclava @ Farnsworth Field

Wednesday, July 23:
G7: G3 winner vs. G4 winner @ The Stadium at Khlysty
G8: G5 winner vs. G6 winner @ The Stadium at Khlysty

Thursday, July 24:
Third-place game: G7 loser vs. G8 loser @ Vanguard Memorial Stadium

Friday, July 25:
Championship game: G7 winner vs. G8 winner @ Vanguard Memorial Stadium

Stadium information:
  • Vanguard Memorial Stadium: Located in the capital city of Newport Beach, Shostakovich, "The Van" is the largest stadium in Bluth Corporation and can seat 108,536 for football. With a natural grass surface, this open-air bowl stadium is a football purist's fantasy.
  • The Stadium at Khlysty: This stadium in Khlysty, Wagner is another natural-grass stadium, but with a horseshoe configuration. The Stadium at Khlysty has a seating capacity of 97,435.
  • Solzhenitsyn Field: Solzhenitsyn Field, nicknamed "Ol' Alex," is situated about ten miles outside of Markov, Puccini. Unlike the first two stadiums, Alex has an artificial surface and is circular rather than bowl-shaped. Solzhenitsyn Field seats 92,144.
  • Farnsworth Field: Farnsworth Field is in downtown Farnsworth, Albeniz, and like Solzhenitsyn Field features artificial turf, though it uses an older style of turf with a harder undersurface. Farnsworth seats 89,690.
  • Titan Bowl: The Titan Bowl is the crowning jewel of Titan City, Mahler. This historic stadium has undergone several renovations in its 110-year history, but its traditional facade remains. With a capacity of 77,143, the Titan Bowl retains its natural playing field. Due to its orientation and location, the Titan Bowl often experiences swirling winds within the stadium that make it a kicker's nightmare.

RP cutoff will be daily at 11 AM CDT (GMT -5); scores will be posted shortly after. RP bonus will be cumulative, but with more recent days weighted more heavily than more distant days. I will give myself a RP bonus equal to half the maximum possible bonus as a "home team advantage", but will not receive any sort of RP bonus beyond that; if I RP, it'll be because I have the time and just for fun.

Re: Silver Bowl I Everything Thread

Postby Bettia » Tue Jul 21, 2009 10:13 am

These had been exciting times for Pifton, the normally-quiet suburb of Gabalfa. After Bettia's ring-rusty return to the world gridiron scene, enthusiasm was finally starting to pick up where it had left off and it was doing the local economy a world of good. The town's tumbleweed trade, so nearly killed off during the national arora flu epidemic, was thriving once more and, as the townsfolk flocked to their nearest sports cafe, outdoor big screen or whoever just happened to have a large enough TV screen to watch Bettia's crucial Silver Bowl match-up against Chetssaland, many a tumbleweed could be seen merrily a-bouncing down Pifton's empty High Street.

Like other businesses, the Pie and Pixie had suffered but was now bouncing back. Kept afloat through the tough times by two ifrit sisters and their best friend, a brand new HumungoScreen had been finally been fitted and the crowds had flocked in to watch the match, just as they had done so many years before.

Junilun, the eldest of the sisters and de facto manageress of the cafe, looked on as dozens of fans all decked out in green and gold took to their seats, all of them supplied with enough tea and scones to see them through the kick-off (and maybe even the first quarter). Her attention was suddenly drawn as the front door opened, and she smiled as a familiar old man walked through.

"Ah Fat Evan, there you are!" she said. Fat Evan had been a long-standing customer for many decades now, although he wasn't nearly as fat as he once was - his appetite was still there, but he just didn't have the teeth left to chomp though as many cakes as he'd like. "You're looking well today".

"As are you, Juni my dear. You don't look a day over six hundred!"

Junilun chuckled at this little joke (the same joke that he'd been using for the past 30 years) as she showed her customer to his favourite seat. It was true that she, like all ifrit, aged very slowly - although nobody knew her exact age (she always said she'd lost count at 650), to the untrained eye she still looked a young lady on the verge of coming out of her teens.

As he sat down, Fat Evan looked around. "Say Juni, it's awfully quiet in here," he said loudly, trying hard to make himself heard over the hubbub in the packed-out cafe. "Where's that sister of yours?"

Right on cue, a large plume of smoke exploded above Evan's table and Fatarani, the younger of the sisters, made her customary dramatic entrance.

"Taa-daah!" announced the smaller figure from underneath a full-size replica Bettia kit, complete with ridiculously oversized shoulder pads and helmet. "Hiya Fat Ev! Miss me?"

"Awww, you know I did."

"Me too!" she squealed as she dove towards him to give him a hug. Unfortunately for Evan, she'd quite forgotten she was wearing a helmet and, with a load thwack, he soon found himself flat on his back.

"Rani! What on NS-Earth do you think you're doing?" Junilun scolded her as she hurriedly lifted her dazed customer back into his seat.

"Ooooh, Ev! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Fat Evan said as he spat out a tooth and grinned, wiping away a small trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth. He looked as his tooth and laughed. "I broke this'un a couple of days ago and a date stone and it's been giving me gip ever since. You just saved me a trip to the dentist. Nice one! Say... aren't you a little overdressed for watching a match?"

"Oh, this?" Fatarani said as she lifted off her helmet to reveal her child-like face, shaking her long honey-brown ponytails loose so that they fell down to their full length. "I went down to the team HQ over in the Bluth Corporation to see if I could get onto the Aroras team. And d'you know what the head coach said? He said I was too young, I'm only a kid!"

Fat Evan and Junuilun shook their heads an groaned in unison. "Man, that's asking for trouble!"

"So I floated right up and stared him in the eye, and I said to him, 'I'm not a kid, I'm 288 years old! YOU'RE the kid! I bet you still wet your pants!' Then he said it wouldn't be fair on the other teams! Say Ev, am I really that good?"

"Well he does have a point - you can fly, after all. You could just grab the ball and float over their heads into the endzone. Sure we'd win every single game by a couple of hundred points, but where's the fun in that?"

Fatarani pouted. "It's not fair. I so want to play! I know all the rules and everything." Then she gasped, her powder blue eyes suddenly twinkling as an idea shot into her wired little brain. "That's it! I could be a referee!"

She vanished in a puff of smoke leaving everyone else looking at each other bemused, then quickly reappeared in full official's kit, complete with black cap, black and white striped shirt and white trousers.

"How do I look?"

"Like a bloody zebra!" Fat Evan replied.

"Unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yard penalty!" Fatarani giggled as she reached into her pocket and produced a yellow flag, which she threw in Evan's direction. It skidded across the table in front of him, knocking his plate of scones onto the floor. Fat Evan chuckled as he picked it up and threw it back at her.

"Unsportsifritlike conduct! Now go 15 yards and get us another plate of scones," he said, pointing towards the kitchen, "And make it quick - the match is about to kick off!"

Don't know, have been wondering the same. I guess give it a few more days and maybe someone else will jump in to score it, or something.

I'd be willing to do it, if you know where I can find a good scorinator for it.

Although actually, that would require some serious consideration on my part; the temptation may be too great...haha...

If someone can tell me where to find the gridiron mods to NSFootySim -- I have the base program but not the mods -- I can and will scorinate this. It's a small field, schedule's up, won't take long.

We thank the Babbage Islands for taking over this event. I wonder what happened to Bluth Corporation. Not online in 10 days.

Thank you Babbage Islands, for taking over.

I'm echoing Sibirsky's concern here. I wonder if Bluth's alright IRL...

The guy is a teacher. It's not like he has work to go to. Plus the fact that he missed his entire tournament that he set up makes this whole thing... concerning.

FARNSWORTH, Albeniz, Bluth Corporation (SP) — The Sibirskyan football team's first chance for some revenge may not be so sweet.
The Sibirskyans are preparing to play at Farnsworth Field in downtown Farnsworth, Albeniz, Bluth Corporation for the first time since they lost to Bluth Corporation in a friendly game at home earlier this month. All players remain from that team. Considering the Sibirskyans showing at the World Bowl, this reporter is not very confident about the team's chances. They square off against The Fanboyists team tomorrow. Quarterback Todd Brice (#17 Sergeville Capitals) and halfback Steve Sanders (#26 Sergeville Capitals) declined interview requests. Coach Bart Carter (New Washington Giants) also remained mum about the teams chances.

Federal Times
--FARNSWORTH, Albeniz, Bluth Corporation, July 28th, 2011--

Today, the new Federal national team is preparing for its first game as a team, a game against the Sibirsky team. Sibirsky gave a similar showing in the World Bowl as the Barrons did when they played there, being only a game or two shy of qualifying; as such, a good game can be anticipated, quite possibly too close to call at this point; from a ratings and rankings perspective, however, Sibirsky has the upper hand. Nevertheless, a few new faces on the team are looking to show the world that a 4-6 record is not one truely worthy of a Fanboyist team.

Notable new faces are Corinne Daniels (QB#11 , Wolverines) who led the upstart Nashville Wolverines to a national championship this year, as well as her favorite reciever, James Breen (WR#29, Wolverines). Also making appearances are Monitors players Kyle Chaing (WR#33, Monitors), and Stan Grere (ROLB#45, Monitors), as well as award-winning kick-returner Felix Anderson (KR#7, Crimson Tide). Returning is Theo Rickenbacher (QB#22, Barrons), who started for much of the Barron's World Bowl run, returning with experience for the team and to lend a bit of versatility to the QB position, and everybody's favorite tight-end, Eric Drake (TE#44, Barrons). The entire offensive line is composed of Barrons World Bowl veterans, as is much of the defensive line, with, most notably, Heinrich Fuchs (NG#63, Barrons) and Danny Rickenbacher (DE#62, Barrons). Defensive Coordinator Steve Miller will help to head up the Iron Tide's defensive effort, while the Monitor's Greg Stiles will help get the offensive machine rolling, all under the direction of WBC veteran head coach Wilhelm Studdenberger.

There are reports that one plays where Daniels is in at QB, Rickenbacher will fill in for Hubert Doremus (FB#50, Barrons) at fullback, while Mike Thayer (HB#49, Wolverines) will be ahead of Jake Brenner for the starting halfback position. With a fast, but powerful offensive line, and versatility in the run and passing games, the Iron Tide is planning on, to quote OC Stiles, "force the ball down their [censored] throats."
