It is entirely possible to make a new Xkoranate file (don't ask me how, though), and you would have a decent bank of scores to draw from in order to build the requisite formulas (again, don't ask me how).

I think possibly the hardest thing to scorinate would be disqualifications due to running into things or violating G-forces. I would look into the frequency of those happening, and whether skill or style plays a roll or just dumb luck.

Do you know of anyone who would be capable of being able to make a new file with the correct formulas?

It appears to me (after having watched much of the past two seasons) that the over-G disqualifications seem to be purely dumb luck. Would this make much of a difference in the scorination?

Judging by this, I think it would be simplest to edit the current racing scorinator in xkoranate, which you can do by changing the xml files using Notepad. I'm not sure of the exact editable categories for Racing, as I've not tinkered with it yet, but I am able to give you a little help to start at least.

My guess is that modifying the alpine skiing scorinator is probably the best option here. Its a scorinator designed for time trials with chances of DNF and DQ. If DNF is negligible, then that status can either be removed or set to 0 probability. I could do it, but I'd need some general idea of what the times should be and what the DQ rate should be.

The auto racing scorinator, set to one lap, is a good option if you want to basically eliminate DQs and DNFs. Its what I used for the 2nd and 3rd horse racing events I ran. I don't recommend it, though, if you want some racers to be DQed.

Hi all. Looking to get back in to sports RPing, and am particular interested in doing some national cricket as a starting point. Does anyone know of a decent scoring system for the three cricketing formats?

Xkoranate does both one-day and Twenty20 cricket (though I find the default scoring values a touch low, given the RL increase since the file was first written). First-class cricket lacks a decent scorinator for four-day cricket, but for five-day (and Test match) cricket, TBI's RedBaller is available here - download and save to your local drive.

Stupid new questions. For UICA competitions do you RP in the International Newswires thread? And when is the cutoff?

Yes, either there or in your own newswire thread. For the cutoff, CH may ballpark when it will be at the conclusion of each iteration (so after he's posted the final, post a preliminary cutoff for the next one), and then he'll make a final cutoff announcement about a week prior.

Is there a set date for the next World Cup or do I need to just hang around like a kid with 50p in his pocket waiting for the ice cream van?

A little sun probably won't hurt ;)

World Cup timelines are not firmly set, but tend to come up 3-4 times a year. Signups for the next one start sometime after the last one ends - anywhere from a week to a month, depending on if anyone's ready to host the next one - with festivities starting 3-4 weeks later with the Baptism of Fire (for new entrants), then Qualifying a couple of weeks later (for everyone signed up, including BoF contestants)
Host/Co-Host of:
World Cup XXII and LXVIII
Cup of Harmony XI and XIII
Baptism of Fire IX, XIV, XV, XVI, XLII, LII
The Inaugural CAFA Cup
AOCAF Cup V and XXXIV

Winner of Cup of Harmony 55 and Jeremy Jaffacake Jamboree II

Yes.
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Two questions:
Is there a NS Golf organization or tour?
and has there ever been a cycling stage race scorinator?

There isn't a golf organization and there hasn't been a golf tournament around here in years. If you want to create one, you're not going to find any existing competition.

As for cycling, Some Village created a cycling scorinator back in 2013, but I'm not sure if it was ever released publicly and he's left NS, to the best of my knowledge. I don't have a copy of it, but maybe there is somebody still active who does.

Does anyone have an older all-time medal count that's correct up to a certain end of one Olympiad? I'm trying to compile a new list but before I do I figured I'd ask to see if anyone has an older yet correct medal count I could build off of. It'd save a little time at least.

I've got to hand off the NS Sports trigrammes thread. I haven't had the time to update it since June and it's unlikely I'll have that time in the foreseeable future.

If you want to take on the custodial role, post here or TG me.

Hey is there a master thread for domestic basketball newswires? The only one I could find was from 2014.

I'm in the mood to introduce my domestic league but I'd rather join a larger public thread then set up one just for me.

That's probably it. Quite a few big sports don't have an active newswire because their organizer either left NS or hasn't had the time to run the international club tournaments and nobody has stepped up to replace them yet (though taking one of those on would be a great way for an inexperienced host to become experienced).

Even though an international club tournament may not be running at the time, I think it would still be viable to post results on a newswire thread, since that's the main purpose of it - the club tournaments are just a bonus to that.

EDIT: Here's the most recent international basketball newswire thread, but the guy who was running it CTE'd.

Would an RP about illegal street racing be considered a sport that can be played in NS Sports? And if so, is there any way I can get my thread moved frmom P2TM to this board?
