I would pick it based off maybe a common last name in your nation, or something that symbolizes your nation.

Or do it how companies do it in the RLstates game.

Where's a good uniform maker on the NS Sports forum? Because I'm starting up a soccer team.

There are several. You can also find templates to make basic uniforms online. Nike has a "uniform maker" on their website that I used for my soccer team. You'll need to take a printscreen of the preview and then crop it and upload it, which is harder than using a kitmaker to do your work for you, but many of them won't make uniforms for people without any NS Sports experience.

There's also a program called Smart Shirt Designer 2 that I used, before I switched both of my WC nations over to Kirola. Googling it should bring up a download link.

Also, where can I get started on NS Sports? I'd like to do a small amateur league first.

Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just new here on NS Sports.

Well, it is very easy to set up a league. Firstly, you'll need a scorinator such as Xkoranate, the most used in NS. After that, everything is a piece of cake. You just need to create teams and start scorinating.

Do I need to create a thread for the scores? I just got xkorninate and it's tad bit confusing with the options and all that.....

I recommend you that you create a Domestic Newswire, in which you can post all the results of your sporting league and competitions. If you make a research, you'll notice that there are a lot of them. You can use as an example one of them. And Xkoranate is very easy, you just need to go to events, look for the sport you want to scorinate, type the teams and their skill/style mod, and there it is.

Just look for a signup thread. At the moment, the main open signup threads are for the World Baseball Classic and the World Cup of Hockey (both of them are currently on the front page). Most events on here involve national teams competing in a tournament. Generally, there aren't many RPed leagues (the main examples I can think of are NSCAA and NSCF, which are college basketball and college gridiron leagues, respectively) and there have been several high-profile failed leagues in recent months. The major issue is that there aren't enough active RPers and enough potential hosts to run too many events at once. Almost everybody around here enters the World Cup, so everything revolves around the World Cup and everything else gets crammed between the World Cups.

With the exception of tournaments exclusive to a particular region, pretty much every tournament will take anybody who enters (many of whom don't even bother to post their roster), with the main exception being if somebody tries to enter an excessive number of nations into the same tournament. While its not guaranteed, you can have success right away. I did, to a certain extent.

Actually, a domestic newswire isn't a requirement to run a domestic league. I've managed to scorinate around a half-dozen seasons of the Acedonian Premier League without a domestic newswire. By posting the results from your leagues in the "International Domestic Newswire" threads (or post a link to the relevant posts in there), you can enter clubs in international competitions.

I wouldn't exactly say that xkoranate is easy. I figured it out relatively quickly, but it is possible to get confused and enter something incorrectly (without going into examples, yes event hosts have made mistakes of that sort before).

Hey Eastedge, thanks for the compliments. As the person behind Best of NS Sports, I'll try to answer.

Firstly, it was abandoned. This post by Eura describes what was wrong with it.

1.) It's a popularity contest. People voted for their RP-line helpers rather than based on skill.
2.) It's kind of general-ish, i.e. not a typical NS Sport thread.
3.) Contribution to the forum isn't really measured that way, but it's the only way to keep it IC.

If you can solve those problems, I'd be fine with you restarting the awards and even using my logo (although make sure to change the 2013 to a 2014 ;) )

I never understood why we needed the guise of it being IC. Especially since many (most) of my "RP-line helpers" are my IC enemies, and I really have no IC allies at all. So even at being a popularity contest, which it wasn't supposed to be, it failed by being forced to be IC.

Can somebody point me in the direction of where I can find information on the do's and don't's of starting your own domestic league. For example is there a communal thread going where this information is collated? Also is there an equivalent of the RL Champions League / UEFA Cup.

Welcome to NS Sports! A good place to start in the world of sports, is by reading the Sports Guide to Roleplaying. It is very useful. In the International Domestic Soccer NewsWires, you can post your domestic league results. The champion of your domestic league, is qualified for the Champions' Cup (ND Version of Champions League). If you want more information about this, just read it in the UICA Headquarters.

How do you conduct a live draw? Do you draw all the teams beforehand and just announce it as if it were a live draw? Or do you actually draw them one-by-one with some method during the live draw? If so, what method?

The two ways are appropiated, but I like an actually live one, don't know your preference but you can use the one you like.

How I do all of my draws (I've yet to do one on IRC, but this is how'd I do it if I did), unless I'm extremely rushed, or the dishes are dirty (more on that in a second).

Step 1, grab actual pots and pans. Bowls will also do. Make sure they're clean.
Step 2, write the names of the participating teams on pieces of paper, placing them into the correct pots (i.e. Pot 1, Pot 2, etc.).
Step 3, pretend you're Jérôme Valcke, and force your parents or someone else to pronounce the nation names.
Step 4, laugh when they fail.
Step 5, for IRC "Live" Draws only, type the results as they happen on the relevant IRC channel.
