World Cup 47 - roster thread

Postby Kura-Pelland » Sat Jun 27, 2009 1:42 pm

Image

This is the thread to post all rosters/squads for World Cup 47 and qualification. (You may feel free to edit these posts at any time, for instance to replace injured players or to announce a new squad for the finals if you get there.) The RP thread will link to these rosters, so other nations can refer to your player names and any other details about your players you provide, which improves RP quality all around.

For that reason, alongside your roster you are encouraged to provide other RPers with information on what they are permitted to do to your team:

In the event my opponent posts an RP first, they may:

Select my scorers
Give out yellow cards to my players
Give out red cards to my players
RP injuries to my players
Godmod injuries
Godmod scoring events
Godmod other events

(delete as appropriate)

Feel free to provide additional detail if you want. For instance, you might be happy for others to give out red cards to your players... but only your dirtiest players. Or you might be happy with godmodded injuries... but not killing your players. You decide what you're happy to have happen to your team.

Finally, you can post a style modifier from -3 (most defensive) to +3 (most attacking). A positive style modifier increases the chances of scoring and conceding goals, while a negative style modifier does the opposite.

Well, we're back.

And this time, we bring you flying dead pink ponies. Oh yeah.

*****

The roster of Dariusville this time consists of manager professor Douglas, who's gone insane on his lil' island in Dariusville. Ever since the nation turned into a dictatorship the island of Whatnot was all for Douglas. He's been shunned by the whole world and has distanced himself from humanity and sanity. Games within Dariusville will be played in the Douglas Dome, which has no place for public, only some cameras.

The team consists of... We've already said it, flying dead pink ponies. Something Douglas created. Don't ask how, it involved loads of illegal and unorthodox methods... But you'd imagine how it would look, can't you? They're pink, with the occasional guts hanging out of their rotten flesh, while flying around being ponies, kicking the ball on several occasions. Probably not a pleasant sight. Imagine the smell...

The team will be playing with a style modifier of +0.5 and plays in a 4-4-2 formation.

He has a history of “standing in the right place, at the right time”, and is good at protecting the goal against breakaways. He also works well under pressure. Unfortunately, his young age (twenty-one) precludes him of having the necessary experience to be comparable to world renowned goalkeepers. Despite this, he has a bright future ahead of him, not just as a goalkeeper in the league, but as the starting goalkeeper for the national team.

Díendar Shost (21), Goalkeeper: Díendar Shost is a youth goalkeeper, hoping to gain experience to be bought into a premier league. He is quick, intelligent and is known to “stand in the right place”. Being tall, he is also good at stopping balls in the airs, including protecting against high-ball corner kicks into the area. This makes him one of the most powerful youth goalkeepers available. His first international game was in the tenth Di Bradini Cup, with the national under-21 football team. This will be his first World Cup appearance.

Nantes Resien (27), Wing Back: The young Nantes Resien is one of the premier wing backs in the Ligue Imperiotech. He plays for Royal Club Española and is one of the leading causes for the excellent connection between the defense and the offense in the team, which is in turn a major cause of their success in the league. He is also one of the best domestic set-piece kickers, explaining his often time played role of free kicker during direct kicks. He is one of the leading scorers of this type; scoring directly from the free-kick into the goal.

Lisander Tíermark (26), Wing Back: Lisander Tíermark is another well known and excellent wing back, and one of the few players on the national team which do not play in domestic league teams. Tíermark is a wing back for the Quintessence of Dust league team Highmark City Blues. Prior to his international career, he played for Fedala Imperial. He is fast, and is capable of both offensive and defensive tasks. His ambition, however, has led him to play an offensive role at the expense of defensive play, sometimes leaving a gap on the wings of the team’s defense.

Bur Xetal (23), Wing Back: Bur Xetal is one of the youngest players on the national team. His main purpose is to develop his skill and experience in order to formulate him into a good winger to replace others as they grow older, or if they are injured. Xetal is fast, smart and an extraordinary defender. He can only assist in the tasks in the midfield, and is good with connecting with strikers on top for quick counterstrikes. He is a valuable asset in the counter attack, and is known for extremely lethal accuracy when it comes to assisting a striker for a goal.

Tern Fedal (33), Center Back: Tern Fedal is one of the older players in the team, called-up for his undeniable experience as a central defender. His experience allows him to accurately forecast the moves of opposing strikers, cutting them off from the ball and the reducing the amount of opportunities presented for the opposing team to attempt a shot-on-goal. Despite his age, he’s also fast. He is, unfortunately, shorter than other players and so is not as good with dealing with high balls into the area. He plays for Port Tenacious. This will likely be his last World Cup.

Sergi Gut (28), Center Back: The relatively young Gut is a “center back in training”. That is, his purpose is to train and gain experience to replace either Fedal or Fernán in the future. He is one of the players which will form the core of the team in future world cups, allowing for a gradual increase in average skill. He current plays for Illusqué; his contract is coming to an end at the end of this season and he has expressed interests in playing on a foreign team. He is likely to come out a lot during the qualifying matches for the World Cup group stage.

Ladis Berk (24), Center Back: Ladis Berk played for Port Tenacious, as is one of the nation’s best young center backs. He is more experienced than most center backs of his age, and has good speed, easily earning him a spot on the national team. He is likely to be called-up for the regular national team, as well, for World Cup 47. He recently was awarded a contract by Eastport United.

Nantes Fersas (21), Center Back: Nantes Fersas is much like Ladis Berk, but younger. He is a promising youth player, and will reportedly be brought up to the first division by next season. However, his agent has been looking for an international outlet. He proved an illustrious U-21 player during DBC 10 and was thus called up for the national team.

Agno Míarnar (27), Defending Midfielder: Agno Míarnar is Dertish Malfor's replacement as a defensive midfielder. Dertish Malfor died of a heart attack during World Cup 46. Agno Míarnar plays in Port Elusive and has been contracted for the national team.

Sergi Bert (22), Defending Midfielder: Sergí Bert is the common starting defensive midfielder; he is a young, talented midfielder. Replaced Dertish Malfor in this position after this player's death. Sergí Bert played for a semi-professional team outside of the official league system. During World Cup 47 he showed his talent and was contracted by SC Lasft.

Joán Zeneti (24), Attacking Midfielder: Joán Zeneti is another international player. He is an attacking midfielder for the Somewhereistonian team Qasarian Sparta B. Nevertheless, he is extremely skillful and has been a key asset in Qasarian Sparta’s aspirations to rise to the “premier league”. He is also one of the best attacking midfielders present for the Macabee National Football Team, and is young enough to guarantee his presence in the next two world cups, at the very least. His strengths are in organization, and he has the capability to clearly set up lines of attack with other midfielders and strikers. That is, he’s successful in presenting opportunities for the goalscorers, and he has scored many goals himself. His capabilities as a midfielder have attracted the interest of other international managers, and he is likely to have a promising career.

Ses Dermán (28), Attacking Midfielder: Dermán’s main strengths are speed and range of shot, allowing him to connect with strikers for quick counter attacks. He is also known for his maneuverability on the field, to create scoring opportunities once the opposing team has formulated its lines of defense. Dermán plays for Eleptik, another team in the Ligue Imperiotech.

Tritor Maníac (19), Attacking Midfielder: Maníac is Gert's (27) replacement, designed to give fresh blood for future generations of Macabee National Teams. He is quick, intelligent and is also an excellent set piece kicker. He is currently rogue for World Cup 47 and looking for a team, although rumors persist that he has been contacted by several Macabee teams.

Terj Mitoraj (32), Center Midfielder: Mitoraj is the current “core of the team”, and is considered the nation’s best midfielder. He is good at unclogging the field and freeing the ball. His role is to add experience to the team, slowing or speeding the tempo as he sees fit. In that sense, he can make and break plays, making use of the players around him to set up an opportunity to score a goal. In this application he is undeniably a genius, and his skill and capability has brought great success upon the Ligue Imperiotech team Adventubier. He is one of the few players to have played in previous international football competitions.

Santi Vervánt (30), Center Midfielder: He is Mitoraj’s right-hand man, so to speak, and also plays for Adventubier. He is also very intelligent and good at creating plays. The main advantage to his presence is to unclog the field should Mitoraj be tightly marked. This gives the team another superb playmaker, in case their foremost playmaker is adequately covered and pressured. He gives the Macabee midfield a very powerful presence in the face of similarly skilled teams.

Georgi Rest (28) and Víeb Tahol (21), Center Midfielders: These two midfielders have similar skills and they both play for Royal Club Española (making this team the largest contributor to the national taem). Víeb Tahol is really the growing prodigy of the national team, and is likely to play in upcoming under-twenty-one competitions, as well. They are both fast and able to connect with other players, making them valuable assets for any playmaker in setting up a strategy. They can also help in defensive tasks.

Mika d’Angíel (28), Striker: Mika d’Angíel is one of the most valued strikers in the world, and already made his international presence during an under-twenty-one competition in Starblaydia, and then during both World Cup 44 and World Cup 45. He is the premier striker of the national team, and one of the highest scorers. He currently plays in the Yaforite league. During the Díenstad Cup he was the tournament's top scorer.

Shost Glen (25), Striker: Glen is a younger, powerful forward. His main strength is his accuracy, since he is not too good with creating opportunities to score. He is powerful when he has another player to connect with him on the top, since he is good at controlling and accurately shooting the ball with much strength. As a result, he is more of a direct attacker and mostly used when the midfield has control of the game.

Nether Falsó (25), Striker: Falsó is another powerful striker with his eye on goal, although he is not as accurate as Glen. He is, however, a better playmaker, allowing him to set up a shot if the shot is not immediately clear to him. This makes him a more valuable asset when the midfield does not have control of the game. As a result he and Glen alternate as substitutes during games, depending on how the midfield is doing.

Darsí Bon (19), Striker: A very young striker who was recently promoted to the main team from Illusqué’s youth club. He is intelligent and fast, giving him good qualities to break away from the defense. This will be his first World Cup appearance, although he had previously played internationally during the Di Bradini Cup.

World Cup 47 Roster and Media Guide

Team Nickname - Bears

Kit - The Bears home kit is a green and white hooped shirt, with white shorts and socks. The away kit is a yellow shirt with green shorts and yellow socks. Third strip, if needed, is a completely green shirt and shorts, with white socks.

Manager - Erik Larsson - In his second year as the national team manager, Larsson has brought the Bears from the depths of the world rankings to a high enough level to be considered for international tournaments. He is a defensive manager, preferring a counter-attacking strategy to a more offensive minded approach, explaining many of the Bears' 1-0 victories in international friendlies and minor tournaments approaching the international tournament season. He also preaches a team game mindset - no one player is above the others in importance, and no spot is guaranteed if play starts to falter. A young team, they can only improve with experience, and are a speedy counter attack team that can quickly hit for a goal or two against the run of play. After a relatively successful Baptism of Fire tournament that saw Toyur exit in the quarter-finals, Larsson is sticking with the plan and keeping his defensive, counter-attack style of play for the World Cup.

Head Coach: Roger Bridger- After playing offense for The Mohawks in the UFSCFC and the BoF, Roger is fed up with playing a defensive style and is now converting his team to an offensive machine bent on constant pressure of the opposing goal keeper and always keeping the ball on the opposition's half of the field. After drafting an entirely new team from open tryouts of every futbol club over Euro-Trash, he drilled them until they had a game down to a science. "This versatile and speedy team will beat you by slowly breaking your back." said the coach. This cup, he came to win.

OFFICIAL NEWMANISTAN WORLD CUP 47 ROSTER

Style Modifier: +2
Formation: 4-4-2

In the event my opponent posts an RP first, they may:

Select my scorers — Yes
Give out yellow cards to my players — Yes
Give out red cards to my players — Yes, but no more then one more then you give yourself.
RP injuries to my players — Yes, but only say they were hurt. I will determine the severity.
Godmod injuries — No
Godmod scoring events — Yes
Godmod other events — TG your idea for approval first. I am open to doing some crazy stuff, but do not wish to do anything related to death/stadium damage/or crazy sci-fi type stuff.

IN ADDITION: I am not a fan of the use of REAL WORLD pictures in NS roleplay. If you must do this, it should have “your player” ONLY. No players on my team in the shot, whatsoever. Additionally, if the game is IN NEWMANISTAN, nothing in the background should show anything to do with a stadium backdrop, or our fans.
If your image is COMPUTER GENERATED, that is fine as long as you put the same effort to put us in our proper colors as you do with your team. This is a big deal to me, use of real world imagery is my biggest pet peeve on all of NS.

(All Caps/Goals are accurate through the conclusion of World Cup 46.)

**** COACHING STAFF ****

Name: Nelson Yaschter (Head Coach) (Managerial Caps: 49)
Age: 63
Club Team: Galaxia (Cafundeu)
Bio: Took over the head coaching position midway through qualifying for World Cup 45, and led the Rockets on one of their traditional second half charges, going 5-1-1 down the stretch. If only that was good enough. He did, however, lead the nation to the Cup of Harmony 37 title. His first full qualifying effort, he led the team to their first ever World Cup Proper appearance in #46. The entire staff returns from World Cup 46.

Name: Mark McCafferty (Assistant Coach)
Age: 52
Club Team: Brighton Bulls
Bio: McCafferty has all the makings of being a long-time assistant of Yaschter, because Michael also tends to prefer younger players. With Brighton, he took a “B” League team, and made them to a mid-pack NPL team with younger players. Starting senior team defender in World Cup 40-42.

Name: Jeremy McAllister, Sr. (Assistant Coach)
Age: 45
Club Team: Sporting Lakeport (Dancougar)
Bio: The great J-Mac hopes that his second tour of duty as the team’s assistant coach allows him to be not be in the media spotlight so much now that the SAPCO drama has died down and his name cleared. Jeremy is the greatest goal scorer in Newmanistanian history, with 134 in 180 games.

**** STARTING LINEUP ****

GOALKEEPER:
Name: James Hargrove (Caps: 14 Clean Sheets: 6)
Position: GK
Age: 33
Number: 1
Club Team: Olympia Gladiators
Bio: While many believe that Yaschter would really rather have Jennifer Bennett in goal, he is well aware that the people want to see Hargrove, and so they will get the veteran. He stormed on to the scene prior to World Cup 46 and led the Rockets to their first successful qualification. James relies most on his outstanding positioning. NPL fans point out that Hargrove is the only person in the starting lineup that actually plays club football in Newmanistan.

DEFENDERS: (The same starting four from four years ago is back)
Name: Shawn Loughran (Caps: 57 Goals: 4) (**** TEAM CAPTAIN ****)
Pos: LB
Age: 26
Jersey #: 4
Club Team: Gamsuk FC (Daehanjeiguk)
Bio: Loughran is a true superstar who became the first Newmanistanian to play in Daehanjeiguk, but reports are he is getting a little disgruntled with the now second division Gamsuk FC. He can be physical, but is very smart about it and has remarkable defensive awareness. Loughran has tremendous speed and agility, and is one of the first people to get to practice every morning and one of the very last to leave, one of the reasons he has been named the new captain.

Name: Scott LaFave (Caps: 115 Goals: 2)
Pos: LCB
Age: 36
Jersey #: 7
Club Team: Sporting Lakeport (Dancougar)
Bio: Scott is a tall, aggressive defender who is wise beyond his years, and it was noticed by a strong Dancougar club in Sporting Lakeport as he recently was transferred out of Daytopia. He takes no crap from the other team, and isn’t afraid to take a chance with a hard tackle. Usually, he is smart about it, but it will probably see him get booked every now and then, and can score the odd goal. This will be it for Scott as he will retire from international play at the conclusion of this World Cup cycle. He was the captain in World Cup 46, but voluntarily declined to assume that role again.

Name: Robert Selvy (Caps: 41 Goals: 0)
Pos: RCB
Age: 24
Jersey#: 2
Club Team: Port Vigilence (Dancougar)
Bio: Selvy is not an excessively aggressive defender, but don’t think you can push him around either, he demonstrates great composure. At a young age, he was transferred to Dancougar’s Port Vigilence, and performed well there before moving on to the stronger Yuki City Athletic.

Name: Alex Lampert (Caps: 97 Goals: 1)
Pos: RB
Age: 36
Jersey #: 3
Club Team: Cafundo do Juta (Cafundeu)
Bio: Lampert was groomed in the outstanding Centralia defensive system and had a few strong years there before he was purchased by Central United of Cafundeu, before later being moved to Cafundo do Juta. Alex is a very studious person, taking up after his father, who is brain surgeon. Lampert may have gone in that direction too if not for his football ability. He is very fast, with average height, and average physicality. Like LaFave, this will be it for him at this level.

MIDFIELDERS:
Name: Billy Prescott (Caps: 62 Goals: 10) (** ASSISTANT CAPTAIN **)
Position: LM
Age: 26
Jersey #: 17
Club Team: Tel Aviv (Jeruselem)
Bio: His father is a legend. Most people somewhat familiar with our senior team know all about Brett Prescott, the aggressive enforcer who is assigned to the opponent’s top forward to rough them up and get in their head. Well, Billy has been watching and learning from the best.. Now it is his time, and he is doing quite a good job. Married to Oksana Ferris of Jeruselem.

Name: Nick Roberts (Caps: 11 Goals: 2)
Position: CAM
Age: 28
Jersey #: 16
Club Team: Port Royal (Dancougar)
Bio: Quite a story. It was only in the years up to World Cup 46 that Roberts really began to look like a player capable of playing at this level, and Nelson Yaschter gave him a role as a substitute. Midway through qualifying, Roberts play as a sub convinced Nelson to let him start, and he continued to produce. Nick is clearly one of those players you would call a “late bloomer”. Two very good well known teams noticed him, Port Royal of Dancougar and Dunboor FC of Cafundeu, where perhaps Chris Kusler and Jeremy Brooker had roles for each of those respective teams. The Port Royal bid was accepted just before the Dunboor FC bid arrived, and that’s where he’s ended up. Now the spot is his to lose.

Name: Keith Capstraw (Caps: 26 Goals: 0)
Pos: CDM
Age: 26
Jersey #: 8
Club Team: Porto Lacruz (Cafundeu)
Bio: After playing well for Daytopia, Capstraw becomes yet another Newmanistanian defender to find his way to Cafundeu. His versatility of playing in the back, as well as this very spot in which he played in World Cup 46 is something that Porto Lacruz is really excited about. Capstraw is also thrilled to get out of Daytopia.

Name: Stanley Rocco (Caps: 16 Goals: 4)
Position: MID
Age: 31
Jersey #: 9
Club Team: Eastport United (Dancougar)
Bio: SURPRISE! Hadn’t been seen on any national club roster since World Cup 45, but after playing in Oxen Cup 11, and his overall solid play for Eastport United, Nelson Yaschter makes a decision that catches many media people off-guard that were expecting Brittany Prescott here. Rocco is a gritty player, not as aggressive as a Prescott, but don’t go thinking you can have your way with him.

FORWARDS:
Name: Matthew Turner (Caps: 40 Goals: 16)
Position: LS
Age: 26
Number: 11
Club Team: Shuukyuu Kishin (Dancougar)
Background: Matthew played in Di Bradini Cup 8 as a starting forward and was expected to lead the team in scoring. That didn’t exactly happen, and Brian Carson seemed to lose interest. Not Nelson Yaschter. He believes that Turner is an amazing talent and gave him a shot in the Cup of Harmony. The rising star was picked up by Shuukyuu Kishin from Loudon and figures to lead that team for many years. Despite an inconsistent World Cup 46, Yaschter hopes that he has corrected his ways in the last four years.

Name: Jeremy McAllister, Jr. Nickname: simply, “Junior” (Caps: 20 Goals: 10)
Position: LS
Age: 20
Jersey #: 20
Club Team: Sporting Lakeport (Dancougar)
Bio: Little J-Mac is already making an impression. He did a good job starting here as well, but then ended up starting in the World Cup as well. At halfway of qualifying, when it was clear that Matthew Turner was struggling, Nelson Yaschter gave Junior a chance, and he played well. Now, even at a young age still, he is named the starter from the get-go.

*** SUBSTITUTES ***

Name: Jennifer Bennett (Caps: 4 Clean Sheets: 1)
Position: GK
Age: 25
Jersey #: 21
Club Team: Seminole Bay Gators
Bio: Again, the goalkeeper that Yaschter has been grooming to try and be our national team starter, just cannot get over the hump and get that role as Jason Hargrove refuses to relinquish it. The two keepers have a strained relationship because of it, although they do not publicly put down the other and can put the team first.

Name: Robert MacPherson (Caps: 0 Goals: 0)
Position: CB
Age: 22
Jersey #: 28
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: Robert is quite a physical, so opponents will need to take that in mind. Having been groomed in the wonderful defensive system in Centralia, MacPherson has blossomed well. The one concern of Yaschter’s is that he can get carried away a little bit and get booked too often. Robert has promised that he will play with more composure, so we will see how this all turns out. Makes his senior team debut.

Name: Scottie Morton (Caps: 1 Goals: 0)
Position: CB
Age: 23
Jersey #: 5
Club Team: Tundra Falls Mariners
Bio: Scottie’s father Shawn played on the championship Di Bradini 4 team, though only had very limited senior team experience. Scottie has followed in his footsteps for a vastly improved Tundra Falls defense. He is tall and therefore able to win many headers, and is overall a nicely rounded player. Also makes his senior team debut.

Name: Brittany Prescott (Caps: 13 Goals: 0)
Pos: MID
Age: 24
Jersey #: 71
Club Team: Tenderville United (Nethertopia/Candelaria And Marquez)
Bio: The scary thing for the world, perhaps, is that the great Brett Prescott has more then just one kid. The second of Brett Prescott’s three children, Brittany also appeared on the 8th Di Bradini Cup & the Cup of Harmony rosters as a reserve, but did not see any action in either, then started in Valanora for the 9th Di Bradini Cup. Don’t think for a moment either, that just because Brittany is female that she is any less of an aggressive agitator then her father and her older brother have been. In fact, Brett jokes that as Billy’s younger sister, and his only daughter, Brittany may have become the toughest of the three of them.

Name: Brian Prescott (Caps: 1 Goals: 0)
Position: MID
Age: 20
Jersey #: 77
Club Team: Dover City Mountaineers
Bio: The third of three kids, Brian makes his senior team debut, and it marks just the second time that all three Prescott’s were on the same team at once. He plays just like his family members do.

Name: Brett Carlson (Caps: 90 Goals: 38)
Position: ST
Age: 34
Jersey #: 10
Club Team: Springfield Thoroughbreds
Bio: The roller coaster career of Brett Carlson continues. We know how much Nelson Yaschter and Brian Carson did not care for him, and Carlson made several other enemies amongst national team regulars in the process. After a stint in Nethertopia, Brett has returned to Newmanistan, for the Thoroughbreds, and continues to be a great goal-scorer. He may also be a head-case. After Oxen Cup 11, the players requested that Brett get another chance, and Yaschter obliged.

Name: Calvin Lane (Caps: 18 Goals: 3)
Position: ST
Age: 34
Jersey #: 15
Club Team: Putnam Lake Eagles
Bio: An oft-forgotten player, he has a surprisingly good resume. He’s played side by side with Jeremy McAllister with the Eagles and with Brett Carlson in Di Bradini Cup 6. He’s consistently amongst the leading scorers in the NPL, but has not appeared on any national team roster since Cup of Harmony 35, prior to a chance in Oxen Cup 11. His best attribute is his speed.

**** RESERVES ****

Name: Stanley Salone
Position: GK
Age: 18
Jersey #: 22
Club Team: Rushville Monarchs
Bio: Salone signed a contract just recently with the Monarchs to be their starting goalkeeper as Rushville was a promoted “B” League team. It surprised a lot of people, because everyone across the Empire was aware of the great talent that this kid seemed to have, and bigger clubs like Dover City and Daytopia offered him deals, so signing with Rushville was a little surprising. Scouts are impressed first and foremost with his awareness, he plays like someone much older, and won’t often get beat up high unless you place it perfectly. Yaschter is impressed with his composure. Keep a look out for this kid, he may have big things in front of him. Started in Di Bradini Cup 10.

Name: Michael Litton (Caps: 0 Goals: 0)
Position: CB
Age: 24
Jersey #: 6
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: Michael did appear on the Di Bradini Cup 9 roster, but was a reserve and never got a chance to play. As part of the outstanding Centralia defensive system, he has continued to progress and is becoming a nice well-rounded defender. He’ll let others do the physical stuff, however. Litton is also commended for being a true leader on the pitch, impressive for someone of his age.

Name: Shawn O’Connell
Position: CB
Age: 19
Jersey #: 24
Club Team: Tundra Falls Mariners
Bio: Named one of the NPL’s top rookies last season, O’Connell started in Di Bradini Cup 10 and is someone that many people feel will become a long-term fixture on Newmanistanian lineups for quite some time. That’s a lot of pressure for now, but it hasn’t bothered Shawn so far as he has become a very complete player for someone his age. He should only get better, and with that, comes the expectations. Shawn will benefit from playing beside Scottie Morton as well.

Name: Meghan Vilardi (Caps: 6 Goals: 0)
Pos: MID
Age: 25
Jersey#: 18
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Meghan is the younger sister of our well known set of twins, Jennifer and Shannon Vilardi, each now retired. Meghan probably will not be quite as good as them, but she will be looking to make a name for herself too. Because the Vilardi twins often made Meghan be the goalkeeper when they practiced their shooting as young girls, Meghan picked up some pretty good defensive instincts, which she would build on, she’s become a midfielder while the twins are strikers.

Name: Scott Trainor
Position: MID
Age: 20
Jersey #: 12
Club Team: Springfield Thoroughbreds
Bio: Scott has played in a strong offensive system with the Thoroughbreds that really benefitted his particular style of play. As you would expect from someone in this position, Trainor is an offensive weapon, who uses a good mix of speed, height, and overall athletic ability to get the job done. He is not a physical presence, but he doesn’t really need to be. Don’t mistake him for being a pushover, though. His progression made the Springfield decision to sell Nick Roberts to Port Royal (Dancougar) a little easier.

Name: Thomas Lipinski (Caps: 2 Goals: 0)
Position: RS
Age: 20
Jersey #: 14
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: Thomas also appeared on the Di Bradini 9 roster, but in a role as a substitute and got very little playing time but then played as a starter in Di Bradini 10. Not a speed burner nor blessed with giant height, he just manages to get the job done through hard work.

The Golden Wolves

I'll be playing a 5-1-3-1, -1. That's five defenders, a defensive midfielder, three regular midfielders and one striker. Expect a lot of pushing-up from the wingbacks.
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: No
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Hand out Yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out Red cards to my players: Yes
Godmod Other Events: Yes
* - starter
† - female

Manager: Shaan Magerin. The former assistant manager of Caires Sports Club and youth team manager for IYC Kaharan is offered, and takes, the biggest job in the nation. It's a huge step up for a manager who has never managed a team in an official capacity, but it's a brilliant decision by the IYF/SA. Magerin has a relationship with the people in charge of Caires Sports (Ashley Ashby, Jagor Aiza) wherein he does the actual on-the-field managing. That seems semi-appropriate for a job where he gets to pick a set of players and then has to manage them on the field. Magerin is a firebrand - he is known for unconventional formations, strange alignments, and getting the most out of his players. He is also known for benching his stars when they disagree with him, so do not be surprised to see some strange results. He has hired a bunch of high-profile assistants as he utterly revamped the squad in what is colloquially known as "The Redeem Team".

Goalkeepers Coach: Akihiko Yoshida [Valanora]. A human Vanorian. Interesting. Japanese, too. Yoshida was a prominent member on a variety of Oriental Cup sides, but his prominent role was during World Cup 40, where he led the Vanorian team to the first of their massive numbers of World Cups. Known for his agility and dexterity, Yoshida will be working with the goalkeepers (especially S'toris) to simulate high-pressure atmospheres and to show what it is like on the world's highest stage so that the Yaforite goalkeepers play their best under pressure.

Defenders Coach: Hares Dalermo. The former Yaforite captain and Cup of Harmony winner was considered as a possible manager. Instead, he returns to coach defenders. Dalermo has a lot of managing experience - in three seasons as the head of Parwood City in Kura-Pelland, he lead the squad to one title, two runners-up positions, and three times took them into the elimination rounds of the TQCC. Internationally, he managed Aleos who, on their first attempt at qualification, reached the playoff, as well as met success in the Cup of Harmony. Dalermo's own skills were best suited towards positioning and communication and it is his job to marshal the five-man defense to work together, instead of working against one-another as in the past.

Midfielders Coach: Stephen Ruck [Zwangzug]. The former Zwangzugian national team captain and midfielder will be the man in charge of the midfield. He has recently come off a job managing IYC Kaharan for one season, during which they finished an astonishing third, with excellent performances coming from their midfield in particular. Ruck was not considered an especially active captain - he was soft-spoken and generally let his players do as they were supposed to, and it is that attitude that that it is hoped he will bring to a midfield that has been so dominated by stars, like Prince Sebard, in recent years that the cohesiveness that it once depended upon was lost. Ruck's job will be to get the newer, younger midfielders to play together, instead of apart.

†Strikers Coach: Kyla Night [Valanora]. Considered one of the greatest strikers in Vanorian history, Night is the second all-time scorer for Valanora (behind Kiso Night, of course). She has over 120 goals in over 150 appearances for the national side. As if that is not enough, she has also been instrumental in the development of youth football in Valanora; her academy is regarded as one of the best in that nation. Once considered the perfect blend of speed and strength, the elven coach will be attempting to improve both the individual skills of the strikers, and their cohesiveness with the rest of the team as a unit. Especially integral will be her work with the developing Jaria Soradrin and Kordanin Ya'haan, both young strikers who can learn a lot from past legend like her.

*1) Goalkeeper: Amern S'toris. Club: Marquez-Onwere [Candelaria and Marquez]. To quote the Candelarisians, he's a "cut above the rest". Excellent reflexes and a daring attitude bring the young S'toris (it was only a few years ago he was on the Silver Wolves) to his first starting gig on the national team. S'toris has been one of the key players for Marquez-Onwere in recent years, as his presence has kept opposing teams from not only scoring goals against the club but also from taking a variety of shots (due to fears that he will stop it). Certainly among the best goalies in recent memory to come from Yafor 2, a lot of their success will be built on his providing a cushion at the back.

2) Goalkeeper: Karaan Subodnir. Club: Central United [Cafundeu]. Subodnir has been considered, for much of his career, a distinctly average goalkeeper. The twenty-nine year-old only received his position on the national team two years back due to the fact that he went one a string of successful performances at the right time and, since then, was selected for very much the same reason. That is not to say that he is not a good player. In recent memory, Subodnir has been lifting the level of his play as the level of his competition increases - in Cafundeu, Subodnir had a very good season. His strength is his size and strength; he is very difficult to score against from corner kicks for that reason.

*3) Left Defender: Corlan T'saal. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez]. The nineteen year-old defender will only transfer to Candelaria and Marquez the next season, but his ability has long since been recognized. He's a quick-footed, fast player with the ability to take away the ball when necessary. His greatest strength is in his ability to range up and down the flanks of the field - when he overlaps the outside midfielders, he has enough speed and ball control to be able to put in a good cross after having gained the ball outside of his own box. Another product of the vast defensive youth systems in place in the Grand Democratic Duchy, T'saal's success at defending the flank will be integral to the overall success of the side.

†4) Left Defender: Anhara Kalioran. Club: IYC Hadaris. The twenty-five year-old defender is an old-school Yaforite product - her abilities with the ball notwithstanding, she has both the size and the strength to play in the center defensive positions. On the other hand, Kalioran has traditionally found herself on the outside of defensive alignments for the simple fact that she can control the ball, as well was tackle and all the rest. Unsurprisingly, she's not a very big person (she's Yaforite), but she uses her sizable body and her strength to overcome that. There are some concerns with her positioning ability (occasionally she stays back, keeping a forward or someone onsides), but her combined skills usually overcome those problems.

*5) Left-Center Defender: Lhatis Riegan (Captain). Club: Chelmar FC. The captain, the twenty-eight year-old Riegan has already a full career for both his club and his national team. It is sometimes scary to think that he is only just entering the prime of his career. Riegan's strengths are not in terms of his bodily ability - he's a lithe, lean player - but instead in terms of his positional, passing, marking, speed, and captaining abilities. For Chelmar FC, Riegan tends to play in the Left-Center Defender position, but for the national team it was always in the center of the 4-2-3-1. Now, with a new national team manager and outlook on how to play, Riegan will be back to his old position and, while he has been a rather bad vein of form for the national team, it is hoped that a return to his club position will bring him back to normal.

6) Left-Center Defender: Kjarlik Tashkir. Club: Albrecht Turkish [Candelaria and Marquez]. Not ordinarily on the left side, the twenty-three year-old is a big-bodied, aggressive defender who has twice been LIDYT Defender of the Year for IYC Kaharan. It is not a surprise, then, to see him transfer over to the Vanorian-controlled Albrecht Turkish side which has always been the preferred capital side for Yaforites to support. Tashkir occasionally has off-field issues - he has some temper problems, which is something that is ordinarily looked down upon among Yaforites - but he also has the ability to shut down an opposing striker, which makes his selection quite warranted.

*†7) Center Defender: Ahara Jahaderion. Club: IYC Ajer. If women were coming into the national team, it was only a short period of time before we saw their best defender. Jahaderion is twenty-four, powerful, beautiful, and strong. Her biggest strengths are her incredible speed (she was originally a striker due to how quickly she can get at the ball) and her incredible strength (the only reason she transferred into being a center defender was her strength). She has the tools and ability to be a defensive midfielder, but instead, she has managed to carve out a niche for herself in the center of the Yaforite defense, and despite not wearing the captain's armband, she will be marshaling Yaforite forces in the back.

8 ) Center Defender: Sifmir K'latris. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez]. K'latris may or may not be national team material, but it is clear that the media believe it is the latter. K'latris is a big-bodied center defender currently going into his prime seasons (even though the defensive prime for most Yaforites is earlier, since they rely on speed more than strength and speed departs faster). However, his selection is a product of Magerin's influence on the team - prior to joining Caires Sports, K'latris was a good-but-not-great defender who had transitioned to Candelaria and Marquez for a mid-sized contract. Now he has morphed into one of the five-pronged Caires Sports defense and one of its main pillars, in fact. It's not a surprise to see Magerin go with the familiar player in someone he has worked well with in the past.

*9) Right-Center Defender: Anamer Tascarnin. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez]. Speaking of familiar players, here's that other pillar of the Caires Sports five-pronged defensive machine. Of course, he's the one who has already been internationally recognized, played on a national team, etc. He's a tall defender, who heads the ball pretty well, marks pretty well, and all the rest. Given that size tends to lack on Yaforite sides, Tascarnin will be marking the larger opposing players, giving the rest of his defense a slight edge, as they are no-doubt better than the opposition. Tascarnin's creativity is sometimes lacking - he will rarely venture forward, but he is a threat to score on plays like corner kicks and free kicks.

†10) Right-Center Defender: Kalia Jadior. Club: IYC Kaltar. The only reason Jadior is on this side is because of the injury to normal starter Herod Accursas. She's a swift-moving twenty-nine year-old with the ability to both control the ball and advance it. Like many of these defenders, she isn't the largest defender one will ever see, but her control of the ball makes up for her problems. Naturally, she's not the most obvious substitute, but her chance to play for the national team is one that she took without question.

*†11) Right Defender: K'tharia Delovar. Club: IYC Kaltar. No questions asked, Delovar is fast. Like T'saal, her most obvious use is in the fact that she can move quickly down the sides of the field and control the ball to the point wherein she can score with it. However. Delovar's defensive abilities can be slightly suspect. She's a very small player (small even for a Yaforite) so the fact that she cannot seem to guard players who are much larger than her makes it a slight problem. She's twenty-three, so there is a lot more time for her to gain the kind of experience necessary to succeed. Also, she's part of Kaltar's expansive female side, so her success in top-notch defenses has never been in question.

†12) Right Defender: Haliria K'torin. Club: IYC Kaharan. The first female ever to join IYC Kaharan, Haliria is the opposite of the defender she is backing up. Her abilities are based almost entirely in the fact that she's the largest player on this squad. Seemingly in conjunction with that, however, is her inability to be able to utilize a large amount of speed, or, at least, enough speed to succeed at a high level. That would explain why she is backing up Delovar - as her age (thirty-one) indicates, she's far more experienced at marking top-level strikers than K'tharia Delovar is.

*13) Defensive Midfielder: Atoras Riegan. Club: IYC Toralen.
14) Defensive Midfielder: Aranar Made'er. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez].
*15) Left Midfielder: Dolarin Mijak. Club: A.F.F. [Cafundeu].
16) Left Midfielder: Alager Adirondu. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez].
*†17) Center Midfielder: Ilsinha (Vice-Captain). Club: CA Condadore [Aguazul].
18) Center Midfielder: Tor Vanderhak. Club: IYC Hadaris.
*19) Right Midfielder: Ahershk Valinial. Club: Caires Sports Club [Candelaria and Marquez].
20) Right Midfielder: Ras Rataran. Club: KT Hotspur [Candelaria and Marquez].
*21) Striker: Vorin Dariegan. Club: KT Hotspur [Candelaria and Marquez].
†22) Striker: Jaria Soradrin. Club:Chelmar FC.
23) Striker: Kordanin Ya'haan. Club: IYC Hadaris.
