The Confederate Kingdom of West Phoenicia Unified XII Winter Olympics Team

Consisting of;
The Confederate Kingdom of West Phoenicia (KWP)
Theocracy of Annixe Christos (TAC )
Scarlett Orient Isles (SOI)

Why Unified?

This is a first for The Confederate Kingdom of West Phoenicia playing as a unified team. At the time of the XII Winter Olympics, The Scarlett Orient Isles had offically moved to the status of a protectorate state of West Phoenicia, there are continued talks that The Scarlett Orient Isles upon an upcoming election will formally be admitted as the newest West Phoenicia city-state.

The Theocracy of Annixe Christos was offically annexed in 2016, becoming a protectorate state. With 50% of Annixe Christos opposed to complete unification it may be some time before it is accepted as a new state of West Phoenicia.

Flag Bearer: Minister of West Phoenician Olympic Sports: Baron Callum DeVine

National Anthem: West Phoenicia in all our hearts
Debut: XI Winter Olympics-Electrum

Police Officer CN1838AHS is a hockey official who might work both men's and women's games. He is willing to issue unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and even ejections for even the slightest violation, especially against countries he doesn't like. This is very much like he work as a police officer, where any minor offense will earn you arrest and possible execution.

Teams from Saintland, Costa Luna, Free Republics and San Jose Guayabal should be especially forewarned about biased officiating. However, even looking at him the wrong way or laughing might earn you a game misconduct if this guy is officiating.

Clockmaker RD2DA91W is one of the official timekeepers for the tournament. He is a certified timekeeper in speed skating, bobsled, luge, skeleton, and short track, though he will only be working a few events across those sports during the tournament. It is his responsibility to make sure all the timekeeping equipment works right before the event starts, and if it does not, to repair it. He is very good at what he does, and does not tamper with the equipment to give any team or player an unfair advantage.

Male Dancer 9DBBFBBB is a figure skating judge in the ice dancing competition who competed in the ice dancing at the VIII Olympic Winter Games. He judges fairly and accurately. He will not cheat.

Elejamian Olympic Committee (ES: Comité Olímpico Elejamia; IY: Elejam Olimpic Comiti)

Flag bearer: Michelle "Mishi" Fanner (captain of the Elejamian women's ice hockey team) - Opening Ceremony
Mical Aleman (Men's individual luge) - Closing Ceremony
Trigram: EJM
National anthem: A Hymn for Elejamie (Himno del Elejamia; Elejam Him)

Curling is more of a niche sport in Elejamie, only being played recreationally at a few ice rinks across the country. However, there are a few recreational leagues, mostly in the south-west of the country. Despite this, when it was announced that there would be an Elejamian curling team, thousands of people applied and, after a series of games, have managed to whittle everything down to five players across two teams. Will it pay off and secure an unexpected medal for Elejamie? Or will they crash and burn as many are predicting? Everyone has to wait and see...

Lead: Nathan Lincoln
Second: Charlie Buckner
Third: Jonny Rafaeli
Skip: Paul Leslie
Sub: Antonio Estrada

Lead: Dakota Kirkpatrick
Second: Fernanda Oliveira
Third: Rachel Nevis
Skip: Angelica Álvarez
Sub: Kristin Hawkins

Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Elejamie, followed by football/soccer (both are acceptable in Elejamie) and rugby [union], In fact, the men's national team - nicknamed the Icy Elephants, not to be confused with the ENIHL team Elejamie City Ice Elephants - are one of the best teams in the multiverse, having made the finals four times in four competitions; winning two (29th edition against Gregoryisgodistan and 31st edition against Valanora) and losing two (30th and 32nd, both times against newfound and disliked rivals Valanora).

However, the EOC and the EIHB have decided to make a little change. A B team, made up of the best players in the ENIHL2 (the second-tier ice hockey league in Elejamie), has been sent to Prescott instead of the main national team. In fact, the only members of the Icy Elephants who will be working with the team in Electrum are physios Sam Finney and Rachel MacIntlock, who'll also be working with the women's team. When asked about this, EIHB president Daniel Gómez said in a press conference "At first, we were going to send our beloved Icy Elephants to Prescott, much like we'd normally do. But then we realised that it might not be fair; we'd probably cruise through the group stage scoring at least six goals per game, dropping down to two or three in the playoffs. So we figured we might as well level the playing field. We've decided to dip our toes into our oft-neglected ENIHL2 league and pick up the best talent there, letting them have a shot at international glory. Not to mention that there's word of a new tournament, for everyone's B teams, so we thought that this would be a good practice for them."

Head coach: Phil Walters (50)
Assistant coaches: Eduardo Carreras (49) and Mike Duncanson (45)
Goaltending coach: Vili Taenicen (59)
Physios: Sam Finney (31); Rachel MacIntlock (32)

Minho - Jaime Branco de Sousa

Women's ice hockey, however, had a bit of a slow start; while there were women's university teams since the early 80s, there were no professional teams or a separate women's league. However, that all changed in 1992, when the EIHB scouted the best players in the university leagues, along with some amateur players, to make a national women's team for a friendly against friendly rivals the Royal Kingdom of Quebec; a match which Elejamie won 2-1 in overtime. More friendlies were played until the ENWIHL (Elejamian National Women's Ice Hockey League) was proposed in 1994, with the season finally starting in 1996; the Coventry Puffins won both the league and the Callow Cup (named after Ariana Callow who, alongside her husband Jon, came up with the idea).

The first few seasons were still a massive success despite having only six teams (Coventry Puffins; Avon Thunder; Davenport Dames; Rosetta Aces; Ángeles de la Playa de Rocas; and Mainsborough Iron Maidens, who shortened their name to Irons in 2002 before changing it back in 2005). In fact, the idea would lead to the ENIHL getting their own play-off system in time for the 2000/01 season, the Royal Inaetar Cup. More teams would join in the coming years, even going as far as 12 teams from 2007-2010, although since most of them either disbanded, relocated or, in rare cases, merged to leave the league with ten teams split into two conferences. There is no relegation system in the ENWIHL, so any teams that come bottom of the table will still play in the league next season.

Ice hockey gloves and helmets:
Image

(Just ignore that national team logo and pretend it's the EOC logo. And, of course, the women's hockey team will still have the standard ice hockey helmets, just in green)

Opening Ceremony outfit:
Image
The women will be wearing the same thing but with a skirt instead of trousers. However, they will both be wearing black shoes and an Elejamian flag pin in their lapel.

Gavin Galt: Much like a number of referees in the ENIHL, Gavin Galt started his career as a player, playing as a defenceman for the Midland University Ice Clovers, followed by two seasons with the Edgebaston Shamrocks once he graduated. However, a nasty season-ending injury to his arm in 1990 put an end to his budding career. Not one to be downhearted, he started training to be a referee and, thanks to his keen eye for detail and a good sense of humour, Galt became one of the most respected referees in Elejamian ice hockey. However, he isn't perfect as 95% of the time he'd call for a face-off when he should've called for a penalty shot. Not to mention that he's publicly stated that he will not referee any matches involving Gregoryisgodistan, on the grounds that he wants to make it back home alive and in one piece.

Óscar Delgado: A famous ice skater in the 80s and early 90s, Óscar Delgado won a number of national and international competitions before hanging up his skates in 1996. As a result, he has an idea on what he's looking for and knows what deserves top marks. The downside is that this would make him seem strict, which would mean that he'd end up giving a lower score than his fellow judges.

  • I don't have any personal problems with Valanora, so I apologise for the "newfound and disliked rivals" bit. In fact, the only reasons why my nation's ice hockey fans are starting to dislike (but not hate) the Calcuttas is because a) they've faced them three times in four finals and they're starting to get tired of playing them and b) they argue that it's all starting to feel a bit predictable.
  • Maria Serrano, goaltender for the women's hockey team, is married to Antonio Cervantes, main goalie for the men's national team and the Ángeles de la Playa de Rocas men's team. Much like her husband, she's also played for the same club for the entirety of her career and is very unlikely to move.
  • If any of my ice hockey players, male or female, interest you, feel free to send me a TG letting me know which player you want, which club wants them and things like salary, bonuses and other stuff like that. And yes, I know about that trading list in the International Hockey Discussion Thread, although since I'm unable to scorinate my league at the moment I don't know if it'll be a good idea.
  • I couldn't find a good high quality NS Olympic logo, so I had to copy the one from the XII Winter Olympics logo instead. Which explains why it looks so blurry in my Olympic Committee's logo.
  • Apologies to Electrum if it turns out that they've already selected which country the ice skating judges are from.
  • I might go back in and edit a few more pieces of clothing in, like a curling shirt and a team jacket.

The Kriegiersien Olympic Delegation:

The uniforms are as always a dark black, with the Kriegiersien flag on it.
Image

Nearly the whole Kriegiersien squad consists out of Cyborgs (individual Standardbot models Version 042.XI Male/Female, specially made for every sport) with still 0.000001 % human input, which passed the Turing and Medical test and by that are for now allowed to participate both as Paralympic and Olympic athletes.
Image

Only the Ice Hockey and Curling as well as the Demonstration Sport Bandy and Snowballwar (as YUKIGASSEN is called in Kriegiersien) teams consist out of fully human material, as well as the flag-bearer of the team, Timon Haudels, a distant cousin of the Kriegiersien President, Tim Estop (also President of the NOC and Chef de Mission), with whom he will start in the Luge Competition.

The female hockey team is a team of No Names, put together from Woman who were able and interested to compete at the Olympics for Kriegiersien.
Image

The coach took it plain honest and simple. “Taking part is what counts.”

The male team is the Champions League participant in the distant Bitclub league, known as Timesteam, with an average age of 26.4, well practised and at the heights of their careers.

The the female curling team has already won silver and bronze and is now craving for the Gold medal. Now a team of (mostly) seasoned parents, they still haven’t (mostly) lost their ambitions. Luckily, you can play Curling even when not so young anymore.

Female Curling Roster:

Skip: Mirya Bratwurst
Vice: Rhonwen Loewenzahn

Lead: Briza Icemop
Second: Andrea Egyptulan
Third: Rhonwen Loewenzahn
Fourth: Mirya Bratwurst

But the next generation is waiting. The sons of these woman are starting in the men’s competition.
Skill seems to be inheritable. Fans voted the infants of the “Silver Girls” into the National team, but the critics of this voting system doubt that they all are on an international level.

Image
Male Curling Roster:

Skip: Marcus Bratwurst
Vice: Simba Loewenzahn

Lead: Zachary Icemop
Second: Andy Egyptulan
Third: Simba Loewenzahn
Fourth: Marcus Bratwurst

Furthermore there is a decent amount of officials and a giant number of scientists to provide the athletes with anything they need.

The Olympic Delegation of the Redvale

The Red Demons

INTRODUCTION

The Redvale is an island nation to the north of Atlantian Oceania, which is known for being a very supernatural place that is influenced by a group of gods. The big four gods are the flame god, Ignaa, the fertility goddess, Lae, the chaos god, Abysus, and the goddess of the sea, Osytia. However, there are other minor gods that have followings on the island. Politically, the country is an oligarchy ruled by a Grand Theocrat appointed by the gods, and by the Assembly of the Pantheon, an exclusive group of politicians that decides most national matters. The government is based in the city of Avgaria, while the largest city is Maris, on the northern coast. The island of Janford is also a semi autonomous region within Redvale, and the smaller and narrower isle to the west of the main island is considerably more liberal and could be described as a libertarian's paradise despite having a large wage divide. In addition, there are a collection of autonomous territories in Endelos, which are also represented by this team as Endelos is a part of the Redvale.

The main island runs on a mixed economy where the government doesn't own every business, but exerts control over them to guide the economy in a sort of cross between socialism and mercantilism. A few other notable things are that slavery is legal in Redvale, which has caused the nation to raid other states for slaves, and that the position of Theocrat is passed. Currently, the Redvale is ruled by Jara Fuse, with his heir being Dago Fuse. Ethnically, the island is mostly Redvali and Saxon with a large number of Asians also calling it home, and the Redvali ethnicity itself is closest to the Spanish ethnicity. The most spoken languages are Spanish, English, and Italian.

THE PLAYERS

Note about names: There are different prefixes that you will find before Redvali names that are written in traditional Redvali dialect, or regional dialect. Many of these prefixes, such as del, della, and de, denote the birthplace or residence of the person. However, there is one important prefix to take note of. People with the prefix au before their surnames are slaves, and their surname is usually the surname of their owner, or the name of the organization that owns them. For example, Church slaves will have surnames reflecting ownership by a god, such as au Ignaa. Regular slaves that aren't owned by any organization will have their owner's surname and may have names like au Mariano. Please note that outside of the territories, Redvale is largely a cross between an ancient and a modern country, hence the activity of the gods, and so slavery is generally accepted as a part of life. It is, however, very controversial in the territories, which are more modern. Most athletes that are slaves will have decent lives despite their status, keeping much of their earnings and living in luxury because of their profession.

Other Notable Athletes
The men's biathlon team is supposed to be good this year, and is headlined by twenty five year old Ansgar Muller. Robin Chandler de Isla also headlines that team and is a contender to win multiple medals, along with Muller. On the women's side, the team is weaker as a whole but Mya Hallaway is one of the top rated athletes and should do decent and have a shot at medals. Women's hockey and women's figure skating are the two sports that Redvale is expected to dominate in, so that's where the most pressure will be and also which athletes will be heavily covered by our press. Twenty one year old Natalie au Sanchez and Gunda Hale headline that team, as well as dark horse Makayla au Roja Leo, a slave of billionaire Alex Passos who has been trained intensively in figure skating since she was ten with the goal of getting her into the Olympics someday. Notably, Gunda Hale is also a member of the hockey team, because her good skating skills landed her a hockey scholarship with Glenham College.

Aside from hockey, the country is supposed to do well in skiing and snowboarding, because of the large participation in those sports in the colder regions of the country and in the territories, which regularly get cold weather. This is where some of the biggest stars can be found. On the male side, Mason Free is one of the biggest celebrity athletes in the country, and the star skier from southern Janford has been made the favorite to win more than one medal. On the female side, you need to look no further than the North sisters, who are both known for being top snowboarders and for having endorsements with Bay Athletics. Mason Free, Shauna North, and Margot North are the three that are expected to medal the most in skiing and snowboarding.

TEAM INFORMATION
There's some things that other delegations should know when interacting with the Redvali delegation. First, players from the main island are going to speak Spanish, English, or Italian. Northerners typically speak Italian while those from the middle of the country speak English and southerners and everywhere else speak Spanish. However, most players will be able to understand and speak English even if they speak their regional languages while they're with other Redvalis. Second, do not help Redvali players to defect! While most slave players are happy with being on the team, some slaves and even some free players may attempt to defect to the host nation or ask other delegations to smuggle them away at the end of the Olympics. These players are not representative of the majority of the Redvali populace, and should be reported to the Inquisition agents on hand to make sure that all Redvali athletes return to the country after the games. Remember, emigration without permission is illegal!

While the athletes are here, many of them have decided to make the most of their time in this city and try to fit as much partying into their time here as they can. They can often be found trying to make friends with foreign delegations, trying to flirt with and win over foreign members of the opposite(or in a few cases, same) sex, and holding large celebration parties after winning medals. The Vali Church has condemned this behavior and says that it is not representative of the country or the majority of its populace. To counteract the negative effect that this has had on the national image, the Church has sent a crew of preachers with the team to preach to any foreigners who want to learn about the Vali gods. The exception to the condemnation is the cult of the chaos god, Abysus, who has encouraged the team to get as wild as possible. When out of the sight of Inquisition agents, however, the players may get rowdy enough to annoy the locals, and the local authorities have been warned about this.

There have also been rumors that Legion, the terror group waging a war in the shadows against the Redvali government and the Church, for going against their democratic principles, will be active during the time of the Olympics and will attempt to call attention to what they refer to as a 'humanitarian crisis' in Redvale. There are also rumors that they will attempt to help certain athletes hide in Electrum to avoid having to return to Redvale. If anyone sees these people, who can often be identified by their group's light blue color scheme, Team Redvale urges them to contact the nearest Inquisitor and report what they see. The government of the Redvale denies any allegations of a humanitarian crisis, and wishes to remind everybody that Legion are violent terrorists and not freedom fighters. Anyone known to be aiding Legion, whether they be foreign or Redvali, will be dealt with by the Inquisition.

National Information:

Capital city: Petrovijanka
National sport: Field Hockey
Secondary sports: Sliding Sports, Cricket, Tennis.
Sports Minister: Julian Petrov
Trigramme: MTJ
Flagbearer: Izara Alina
Anthems: Hoffe un Valaške (Hope and Eternity)
'Can't touch this'

Kit: Mattijanan athletes wear green with yellow swirls around the lower torso. The national flag and badge of the national association for the particular sport is shown above the athletes name on the right side of the chest. The olympic rings are on the upper arm of each kit.

Curling Teams:

As one of Mattijana's most popular sports, many people will expect Mattijana to do well at the games fielding two high quality sides.
LadijanHockeyBand:

Mattijana's woman's curling side came through both national and international competition to make the Olympics and have established themselves as an excellant side of tacticians and curlers. They certainly pose a very good medal chance for the nation.

Lineup:
Skip: Marika Sava
Lead: Lara Amarika
Second: Jasmin Karotič
Third: Katarina Julanova

Mattijana's men also had to beat fierce competition to qualify, but also present a real chance of a medal.

Skip: Matej Donilovič
Lead: Stefan Radjeskov
Second: Dominik Jariliov
Third: Sami Grosicki

Mattijana will not be sending an ice hockey team to the XII Winter Olympics due to the recent Ice Hockey ban, imposed shortly after the XI games, also in Electrum. For more information on this, please see the upcoming announcement from the Mattijanan Olympic commission.
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.
