Map of Valanora

Valanora Information
The most important thing to know about traveling through Valanora is that automobiles are banned except for government officials. A high tech railway system connects the entirety of the nation, with three international airports in Raynor City, Gladerial, and Baysleef. A ferry from Rinaldi travels to and from the island of Capri every hour on the hour. The most distinguishing feature of Valanora is the prevalent amount of forests standing in many of the inner half of the nation, even in cities, with the elven attempts to live in harmony with nature. Vanorians are a polite if not a bit high on themselves, believing elvenkind to be superior to humans, though they show a respect for the potential their humanoid cousins have.

In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

Go crazy, but don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory. However, expect reciprocation if you injure/kill my players. Also, if you mention my country in an RP but don't call it by its full name (i.e. "Gregoryisgodistan" without any special formatting in the middle) please TG me to give me a heads up.You don't need to wait for permission and I might not even reply. I often search for my country's name so I can respond to RP's more easily, but if you don't mention it by name, that doesn't work. You can also mention it by name in an OOC note somewhere in the RP instead of TG'ing me, since then it will show up in a search. If for whatever IC reason you decide to strike the "isgod" in the name of the nation, as in Gregoryisgodistan, that will not suffice as notification as it will not show up in the search. In that case, TG me or mention my name without the strike either IC-ly or OOC-ly somewhere in your RP. If the formatting effects the whole name (i.e. Gregoryisgodistan, it will still show up in search, so you don't need to do anything else.

Actor 81248D8J is well-known for playing Doybert on the hit TV show "Costa Lunians Say the Darndest Things"..... Enemy Crusher Porky "Fatso The Third" McFattel comes from a long family of Enemy Crusher goaltenders, most of whom have been executed or murdered for crushing.... Enemy Crusher Krushallah Krushdumpy is the fattest enemy crusher at 930 pounds. He was formerly known as Enemy Crusher Krushallah Krushsaintland until he changed his name to reflect Gregoryisgodistan's alliance with West Saintland (which the Gregoryisgodistani government refers to by its official name of Kingdom of Saintland) and the hatred of Dumpy O'Rumpy of the Free Republics. He kept his name after Dumpy resigned claiming mind control by a demon since everyone knows Lord Almighty Gregory is the only God so he's obviously lying.... Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind also changed his name, to Enemy Crusher Crushallov Dafree Republics, to reflect the new political situation.

We will wear dark uniforms for home matches. For away matches, if our opponent wears a dark uniform, we will wear white. If our opponent wears white, we will wear our dark uniform.

What's a Pervert Chaser? Sounds inappropriate.
A pervert chaser is someone whose job it is to chase down those accused of sexually-related crimes, like mooning, nudity, indecent exposure, rape, and molestation, and cut off their private organs, then bring them in for trial, sentencing, and either a fine, slave labor, or execution depending on the offense.

What's a Horse Beater?
One form of entertainment in Gregoryisgodistan is where a Horse Beat beats horses with all sorts of torture devices, like whips, maces, pepper spray, and machetes, until the horse dies a horrible painful death. It is like rodeos, only more gruesome. These horses are randomly caught in the countryside by Horse Snatchers, then sold to Horse Recruiters, who bring them to the Horse Beating Show.

I'm from a country with sapient ponies. Should we be afraid?
Our laws prevent sapient beings from being beaten, but also define sapient beings as humans or intelligent extraterrestrials. So alien ponies need not worry. Earth ponies, on the other hand, could theoretically be caught, but as long as they do not roam the countryside with wild, non-sapient ponies, they should be fine, since horse snatchers typically do not look for horses in hotels or hockey rinks.

What's an Enemy Crusher?
Enemy crushers are very heavy Gregoryisgodistani government agents whose job it is to crush and torture criminals to get them to reveal information. They almost always kill the criminal. Enemy Crushers at the World Bowl and World Cup of Hockey, among other tournaments, crushed to death numerous fans, referees, and opponents. They were then rewarded by the Gregoryisgodistani government.

Should I be afraid?
Just don't anger an Enemy Crusher and you'll be fine.

Which players like to fight?
The pervert chasers, prison guards, and slave beaters are very prone to fights due to their violent professions. Additionally, the Enemy Crushers have been known to crush opposing players, referees, or spectators. This often results in their deaths, much like what happened at the World Bowl. Nobody other than Enemy Crushers are capable of killing anyone, though pervert chasers carry their private-cutting knife with them at all times, and in the event a player, coach, fan, or spectator commits a sexual-related crime during a hockey match in Gregoryisgodistan, they will cut off their privates in the middle of the match. It might even happen in road matches. This will be very painful. So basically, don't indecently expose yourselves and you should be fine.

Willinglsey Arena opened for World Cup of Hockey XXV and was the creation of Lord Almighty Gregory, God of the Multiverse. It seats 9,500, with room for an additional 570 fans of the visiting team to be hung from the rafters. No other visiting fans will be allowed in the arena.

Image

Please refer to players by their full name at all times. For instance, our starting goalkeeper should be Enemy Crusher Porky "Fatso The Third" McFattel and our left wing should be Weatherman 92UDH9111. This follows the typical Gregoryisgodistan naming format, which is title and government ID number, except for government VIPs which are title and name. Use both at all times. Do not just say McFattel or 92UDH9111.

The demonym is Gregoryisgodistani. The ice hockey team is nicknamed the Ice Slaves, and you may use this nickname.
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

STADIUM
Due to the bigger popularity of Colonial teams over mainland sides, the Summer Storm will play at the Frostinicium Ice Stadium at Edenian Sunrise, home of the Edenia Blaze, seating a total of 25000 people. Travelers should expect a peaceful trip, but do not piss the locals off. Edenia used to be in a civil war situation and will not refrain from going toe to toe if needed and there's still enough Shokans, Enenra, Tarkatans and all sorts of messy stuff there that would gladly attack if provoked.

RP PERMISSIONS
Not killing them or injuring them for life is a must. As far as hockey goes, weird goals are fine.
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!

This is Hockey, where the players bump to each other, goaltenders jump to save a shot from the other side and all the fans gone insane in this intense sporting event. And you thought football is the only thing we do.

Their debut in the 32nd Edition of WCoH will feature returning veterans from last edition, as well as new teams ready to mark their event in a spectacular way. Tomikosan will feature superstars such as twins Elijah Malky and Boniface Alanna Kagamine, hotshot center Bobby MacArthur-Sinclair and enforcer Manfred Hauptmann. They also have a manager with a lot of experience in the hockey world; Dremira Hollington, who used to be an employer from a brick factory before taking up this sport at age 30.

Can the Hockey-loids impress the international fans with their skills? Or would they be drowned by the professionals?

In the 31st edition of the World Cup of Hockey, Elejamie managed to pull off the impossible when they managed to sweep the entire tournament, winning every single game they played (even though one of them went to overtime after a goalless draw and all the knockout stage games were single elimination as opposed to best-of). After getting off to a great start with a 4-1 win over the Cosumar Ice Dragons, the Icy Elephants proceeded to dominate their group, winning all their group games for the third tournament in the row. The Round of 16 against Anthor, who were looking for revenge for their 4-1 loss in the group stages, was a very close call, with it ending 0-0 at the end of regulation and a Cerin Meloten backhander in the first overtime period meaning that the Anthoran Ducks would be the ones going home. Following a 4-2 victory over the Unified Sunrise Islands in the quarter-finals, Elejamie played Ficiscia - a team that beat Elejamie 3-1 in a pre-tournament friendly (before Elejamie beat them by the same score in Davenport) - for a spot in the final; a match that ended in a 3-2 win for Elejamie. And then came Valanora, who were world champions at the time, having won their series against the Icy Elephants in the last WCoH final. The Icy Elephants managed to avenge their loss and beat the Calcuttas 3-1 in the final, taking home their second World Cup of Hockey trophy.

And now they're back to defend their title. And, as a result, Michael Madgwick has decided to make a few changed. James Han has not only been bumped up to third line but he's also been named as the other alternate captain; as a result, the Barajas brothers, Danilo and Felipe, will both be playing on the fourth line. Not just that but Michael's son Lucas has returned from injury and, as a result, has returned to his spot as a second line left winger. And a second star has been added to everyone's jerseys, commemorating that second victory back in Hannasea, However, the news has not all been good, with Mike Cruickshank announcing that he's going to retire from international ice hockey after this tournament. While he isn't retiring from ice hockey in general (as he's going to move to Mercedini to play for the Zoloroni City Icers once his contract expires in the Summer), it should still be something to gear the Icy Elephants up and maybe it'll inspire them to a fourth consecutive final appearance (maybe a third trophy to boot).

Will they be able come home with a third trophy, giving Mike Cruickshank a fond international farewell? Or will they be able to follow up on their amazing streak in Hannasea? And will it be a third Elejamie-Valanora final in a row this tourney? Only time will tell...

Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium, Davenport, WYKN
Image

Home to the Davenport Dockers - the most successful team in the ENIHL (Elejamian National Ice Hockey League) - and the national team. Built in 1992 to replace Dockside Stadium, which was eventually demolished in 1995, Davenport Stadium is the largest ice hockey stadium in Elejamie, with a capacity of 18,500. The stadium was originally known as the Davenport Stadium but it also spent a brief spell in the early 2000s as the Rapid Beer Co. Stadium. Eventually, it was renamed the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium just in time for the start of the 2015/16 season, in honour of famed politician and diplomat Declan Madgwick (1927-2015).

HomeFiller Arena, Coventry, AVEN
Image

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and home to the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013. The deal, which was initially set to expire this year, has been extended to 2023.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose My Scorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes (but nothing too serious; they can't be out for anything longer than two games. Killing is definitely out)
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes (same as above)
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes (the longest they can be suspended for is one match)
Godmod Other Events: Depends on what it is. Fighting I'm OK with but it might be a good idea to TG anything else.

  • "Keh-reen Mah-loh-tahn"; "Payl Eh-tah-nahr"; "Ah-lah-YEHM Mahn ees-hoh-kee teem".
  • In the event that any of my players interest you and you want to sign them, please tell me which one you want, which club wants them and all the details. However, Mike Cruickshank and the Barajas brothers will be playing in the Mercedinian Super League next season and Antonio Cervantes will be retiring in Summer 2018 (having spent his entire career with Ángeles de la Playa de Rocas), so they're out.
  • Please get back to me with RP info by 10pm BST. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and put my own stuff in.
  • Francisco Solano is the team's main enforcer. So if my team is up against yours and you want to put in a fight, see if you can fit him in somewhere. If he's unavailable because of a line change or him not playing a match, then Lupe, George Lincoln, Carlos Sierra, Paul Morton, Ethan Swinburne, Pael Atener, Mike Keller and Bill Judge (who was Elejamie's main enforcer during WJHC8) can be used instead. The only players that don't fight are Antonio and Pedro Cervantes, Peter Berg, Cerin Meloten, Anatoly Kasputin and Lucas Madgwick.
  • Elejamie will play in their alt kit on MD1 and their first Ro16 game.
  • All of the ages given in the roster were taken from the start of the tournament. However, Anatoly Kasputin will be 33 on the day before MD1, Aaron Andrews will be 33 in between match days 1 and 2, assistant coach Ron Berg will be 57 on MD3 and, should Elejamie make it that far, Ethan Swinburne will be 28 on the first Ro16 game.
  • It's "Rubio Orosco". Not just "Rubio" and not just "Orosco". See below for why.
  • Pedro Cervantes is Antonio's nephew. Not his brother or his son. Using the traditional Spanish naming custom (father's surname followed by mother's) it's Antonio Cervantes Nakamura and Pedro Moreno Cervantes.
  • Danilo and Felipe Barajas are twin brothers, with Danilo being the oldest by about five minutes. Peter Berg's younger brother George plays in the junior team; however, the two of them aren't related to assistant coach and ice hockey veteran Ron Berg. And second forward line left-winger Lucas Madgwick is the son of head coach and Elejamian hockey legend Michael Madgwick.

Although Chromatika is one of the northernmost nations of Atlantian Oceania, the Chromatik Party had refused to acknowledge hockey as an official sport of the nation for a long time, as much of the populace that had played it existed in the Red, Orange, and Yellow societies, usually of the northern cities and some in Myana. With the Rainbow Revolution complete, now the Chromatik Government can give other sports the recognizance that it is due. There will be hockey being provided at the youth levels soon enough, and there is now a possibility for a hockey culture to establish within Chromatika.

That being said, Chromatika will be a minnow and a rather horrid presence in the world stage for a while until things get settled. But here regardless is the team for this World Cup of Hockey:

National Hockey Team of the Redvale

The Ice Dogs

INTRODUCTION

The Redvale is an island nation to the north of Atlantian Oceania, which is known for being a very supernatural place that is influenced by a group of gods. The big four gods are the flame god, Ignaa, the fertility goddess, Lae, the chaos god, Abysus, and the goddess of the sea, Osytia. However, there are other minor gods that have followings on the island. Politically, the country is an oligarchy ruled by a Grand Theocrat appointed by the gods, and by the Assembly of the Pantheon, an exclusive group of politicians that decides most national matters. The government is based in the city of Avgaria, while the largest city is Maris, on the northern coast. The island of Janford is also a semi autonomous region within Redvale, and the smaller and narrower isle to the west of the main island is considerably more liberal and could be described as a libertarian's paradise despite having a large wage divide.

The main island runs on a mixed economy where the government doesn't own every business, but exerts control over them to guide the economy in a sort of cross between socialism and mercantilism. A few other notable things are that slavery is legal in Redvale, which has caused the nation to raid other states for slaves, and that the position of Theocrat is passed. Currently, the Redvale is ruled by Jara Fuse, with his heir being Dago Fuse. Ethnically, the island is mostly Redvali and Saxon with a large number of Asians also calling it home, and the Redvali ethnicity itself is closest to the Spanish ethnicity. The most spoken languages are Spanish, English, and Italian.

Anthoran National Hockey Team
Nickname: Anthoran Ducks
Head Coach: Lucius Horn
Assistant Coach: Gabe Wilmer
Image

Style Modifier: +2.6

Annual Introduction:

The Anthoran national team, called the Ducks nationwide as a hold-over from the last period of international success it experienced some forty years ago, is once again returning to the World Cup of Hockey in it's 32nd edition, marking their fourth straight appearance, and are currently ranked 17th in the world according to the latest rankings publicized. They had their most successful run in the immediate previous Cup, World Cup 31, as they managed to qualify for the Round of 16 after turning in a performance that got them to second-place in their group, only to face eventual-Champions Elejamie in the Round of 16 knockout round and went out, 1-0, in overtime.

Coming off of that surprisingly improvement in progress, head coach Lucius Horn spent reportedly months overgoing his strategies for this cup, finalizing them and critiquing them heavily; even the player selection process we hear began a week after World Cup 31 ended! Indeed, you can see a number of huge changes in the roster for this Cup; notably, the absence of many previous names such as Lane Hunter, who declined the invitation, Gustave and Rounds whose performances both suffered in the AIHF this year, and Elwin, who retired from hockey after a spine injury this latest season. On top of this, the designation of Dickson Moore over Aric Langely as the starting goalie caused a huge uproar among the fans and analysts, with many confounded as Langely has a near flawless stat line in his 11 Cup games; but Horn pointed at Dickson's career-best season which won him Goalie of the Year; he also had nearly double as many wins (54) as any other goalie in the league, having led in wins, shutouts and goals against average. Besides these startling changes, the usual as returned, namely in the powerhouses that are Graham Robertson and Austin Poindexter. Robertson once again winning AIHF MVP, for his 6th career time, and Poindexter leading the league in goals; though to add to the clamor for the play, Harold Jewel, the 25 year old left winger from Yarmouth, came up second in goals scored, and had one of the best season's ever among the hundreds of players; needless to say, this time around will be very interesting for the Ducks. They are currently placed into Group D, which features their budding rival, Elejamie, who are the defending Champions. The Ice Elephants defeated the Ducks 4-1 in the group stages and ultimately knocked them out in the Round of 16, so the Ducks will certainly be looking for blood in this coming match-ups. The other teams are Tomikosan, an unranked entry, and Natanians and Nosts, who are ranked 69th; both should feature relatively easy matches for the Ducks, so expect this group to come down to the performances in the games against the Ice Elephants.

RP Notes
There is one professional hockey league in Neu Engollon, the NEHL. There is also a strong collegiate tradition in the sport, and the NEHL pull their players from the top schools. The Ibex are all pulled from the NEHL, or Neu Engollian nationals playing in equivalent foreign leagues. Liu Qiang An and Assistant Coach Siegler finished out their contracts, which were not renewed and they headed back to their respective home nations after the end of the previous season.
The Ministry of Athletics and NEHL have decided to recruit from within, and two recently retired players, Manon and Volkzein, have taken over the management positions of the Ibex after the team sat out the last Cup to reorganize. The great foreign experiment is over and it is time for the Ibex to see what they can do on their own with experience and knowledge gained through several World Cups.
The hope is that they can get past the quarterfinals this time around.
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

Hockey is the national sport of Novaya Zemlya and the only sport that is played professionally in the country. This tournament will be Novaya Zemlya's 8th WCoH appearance. The team has qualified for the knockout rounds in every tournament since WCoH 27, and finished in 4th place twice.

Bogdan Bobr has been head coach ever since WCoH 25 and is considered a national treasure. Criticizing him would be regarded as blasphemy and highly un-patriotic. Whenever the team fails to meet expectations, it is usually the players, the refs or the corrupt Novozemlyan hockey federation that gets blamed.

Bobr likes to roll his lines and spread out the talent, and all lines can be expected to contribute offensively, although the first line is the most talented and is expected to lead the way. In addition, fans have high hopes for Valeri Kalagin. The 21-year-old is already an established star in the NZEL and it is, hopefully, just a matter of time before he breaks out on the international stage.

The Novozemlyans generally play a clean game. Fighting is not really a part of Novozemlyan hockey culture. (The occasional spearing, two-handed slash or sucker punch however, are - defenseman Fyodor Ryzhkov especially is known to have a short fuse - but Bobr generally keeps his team on a short leash.)

Savojarna prepares for its international hockey debut!

Savojarna plays a game that is mostly depending on tactical discipline and puck possession. While the Savojars do value a good deflection or rebound goal, and certainly have many players who can do such things, they usually prefer a pass to a shot from a desperate position hoping for a lucky bounce. Their players usually think fast rather than move exceptionally fast (but they are not slow either!), and while they don't have to hide from anyone except maybe Enemy Crushers, they are usually not physically superior. In defense, the Savojar employ a heavy defense aimed at trapping the opponent in the neutral zone and suffocating their play. They are unlikely to concede many odd-man rushes, but they usually let their opponent safely reach the neutral zone in favour of a more stable defense rather than a heavy forecheck. If you want to compare them to modern-day RL teams, the best comparison may be the Swedish or Finnish national team.

Goalkeeper order: Hoyman - Strakhov - Malmström
Strakhov will start against Dylecte. In other games Hoyman gets to start unless indicated otherwise.

Special Teams:
The Savojar team plays a powerplay focused mainly on shooting from the point and the circle. The two defenders play both in the area between the blue line and the top of the circle, but occasionally advance to the circle. The winger on the side of the puck moves to the circle to be open and get a shot off, the other winger moves towards the goal to assist the center in screening and opening shooting lanes. The center remains in front of the goal. In penalty killing, Savojarna lets the opponent play around the boards, but intervenes quickly if the puck moves inside the box. They play a PK with relatively little pressure.

PP1: Kristiansen - Glukov - Stefansson - Djurberg - Bryzhnev
PP2: Juranen - Vasilyev - Söderberg - Yurkin - Jaskinen
PK1: Asgeirsson - Vasilyev - Djurberg - Jaskinen
PK2: Hendersen - Glukov - Rasnikov - Yurkin

Style codes:
HYB = Hybrid goaltender. Uses a sensible mixture of butterfly and standup styles. Average likelihood of rebounds.
BFY = Butterfly goaltender. Quickly drops into butterfly stance to make saves. Will concede more rebounds, but is harder to beat low.
DFD = Defensive defender. Sticks to the blue line and works a lot in backchecking. Blocks shots, checks and is hard to get past.
TWD = Two-way defender. Dangerous from the point and the top of the circle, but focuses on backchecking. Also good at breakouts.
OFD = Offensive defender. Usually a good shooter and passer, and will more frequently move deep in offensive play. Still is a defender though.
TWA = Two-way attacker. A forward who will be quick to fall back if the team loses the puck, and prevents odd-man rush opportunities.
PWF = Power forward. A forward who plays with strength in everything he does, but also relies on skill. The most allround forwards on the team.
SNP = Sniper. A forward who will score more goals than assists. His job is simply to put the puck in the back of the net from every position.
PLM = Playmaker. A forward who has good overview and passing, and will score more assists than goals. His job is to create chances for the team.
GRN = Grinder. A forward using his body to annoy the opponent, get or keep the puck and push it into the goal. Especially good at forechecking.

JERSEY

Who will...
Score goals? Rasnikov, Bryzhnev, Simonen and Stefansson are top league scorers. From the defenders, all OFD as well as Glukov and Vasilyev may score. Vasilyev holds the record for the hardest slapshot ever recorded by a Savojar player, and may use it to score from the point. Glukov is also a good shooter, and will use that skill as well. The OFD may also move forward and shoot from the circle occasionally.

Amaze us all? If skill explosions and wonderful dekes are your thing, have an eye on Bryzhnev and Gulbrandsson. That brilliant cross-crease pass that leaves the teammate with an open net? Hjalmarsson and to a lesser extent Simonen got you covered. Finally, Hoyman guarantees spectacle in net.

Get into a brawl? Savojars are somewhat opposed to one-on-one brawls due to their huge sense of community. While the warrior culture is strong among the team, chances are that you'll get jumped by three at once if you hurt someone. The players with shortest fuses are Yurkin and Hendersen. Dmitry Vasilyev has a tendency to end up in fights instigated by the opponent, as he is known for his brutal checks. Those three are quite likely to end up in a fist fight, but all of the team know how to shove, push and wrestle you down (and also punch, if needed) shall you hurt their linemates.

Knock you out? Dmitry Vasilyev stands at 208 cm and 119 kg pure muscle. This is a giant that does not refrain from hitting you at all his speed and smaller players can be taken out by his checks even if they are clean. Apart from him, heavyweights of the team are Asgeirsson (197 cm/105 kg) and Yarchenko (194 cm/99 kg). Despite his size, Toranen (183 cm/80 kg) is known for his spectacular hip checks that sent many Savojar wingers to the ice face first.

Miss curfew? Savojars love a good drink, and while they have stopped doing the tradition of sacrificial mead-drinking before game days, they still practice it two days before (to sleep off the hangover). In this tradition, players are expected to prove their strength before the Gods by drinking large amounts of mead. The best at this discipline tend to be Strakhov, Jaskinen and Rantanen. Gudbrandsson is a very attractive guy who likes going out, and most likely to get to know the female players of other teams a bit better. Similar is said about Stefansson, but he never seems to find anyone meeting his standards... (OOC: Ville Stefansson is secretly gay and you are open to RP on that. However, given the usual issues of discrimination in hockey environments, only his best friends on the team know. I don't know if I'll bring that up in RP, but the possibility exists and if you want to collaborate on that, be it by outrage or endorsement, feel free.)

Spark controversy? Savojarna is a communist country, and while most players either remain silent on that or quietly endorse it, some are active defenders of the nation's politics. Those are Yurkin and Jaskinen, as well as Söderberg (who is a member of the left-communist Party of Liberation). All the players of PT and Partizan are required to be members of the Communist Party of Savojarna, as they own the team.

Transfer abroad? Generally, players from Army teams (CASK, ASK, Torpedo, Aviator) are hard to get away from their team, but sometimes do if the offer is good. Similarly, Dynamo (the police team) is not extremely fond of losing players. But then again, since the 1990s players have enough rights to enable transfer of everyone. Players disappointed with their current team are Stefansson and Andersson.

RP PERMISSIONS

You are free to do whatever you want as long as you do not:
    - violate the rules of physics or reality. Godmodding in the sense of unusual but possible events is fine, godmodding impossible things is not. As a guideline, if it has never happened in a RL hockey match, don't do it (or TG me first at least).
    - Kill any Savojars, including spectators and journalists etc. If it does... we are currently invading Brasilistan for rumours of them killing our citizens.
    - Injure any player for more than until the next WCoH, or in a way that heavily affects me. As a rule of thumb, if you take out a 1st or 2nd liner, or if you take out more than one player, TG me first. If you injure them for more than the tournament, I will allow myself to shorten the injury for domestic purposes.
    - Allow me to do the same thing to you that you do to me.

A note regarding fights in the streets or stadia: Savojars are a proud people that highly values warriors and fighting as a sign of strength and pride. We do also feel a strong sense of justice towards our own kind. Attacking Savojars will be a quick way to be surrounded by a bunch of their friends, or even complete strangers who happen to be countrymen. Also, while they may be on the lookout for a fight, if you obviously decline it and walk away, nobody will actually attack you. Attacking an opponent who either declines, does not expect or conceded a fight is seen as the lowest of the low in Savojarna, and only done by spineless cowards.
A note regarding international incident or cooperative RP: I am very inclined to do cooperative RP and also gladly outside the hockey world, be that diplomacy, trade or war. However, I'd like to ask you to TG me with your proposed storyline. If you do not do this, or I declined the storyline for some reason, and you carry it out anyway, I will consider your RP useless propaganda and not accept it as Savojar canon. (Unless I actually like it, in which case I may also TG you and ask where you want to go with it, obviously)

The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!
I am a student of (European) politics, ice hockey fan, left-wing communist bordering on anarchy, and European federalist. Enjoy!

Lisander National Ice Hockey Team

About the team
Lisander comes to its first international experience, so there are not many expectations. A third place in the group and not take a historical beating will be enough for this year.

The structure of this team is the team of the best of the regular season of LNH, National League. Most of these players will return to their teams, still thinking about the Harmin Cup.

The first lineup has three players from the current North Conference champion HC Dalena, including the 2x Goalkeeper of the Year and Captain of both his team and national team, Jean-Luc Anger. The defensive line has Brandon Montagne, also of the HCD, along with Asier Díez, young revelation of HC Universitario. But Zane Huddleston, also of HCD, and Sora Necchi, of HC Sparta, are on the same level and can replace them at any time. The offensive line has Mark Horsfall of HCU, Fernando Simoniti of HCD and Blake Lynton of Sparta. However, no one there has an absolute right to the position because Tim Bloxham (Sparta), Daniel Schiller (Blues), Hyacinthus Larue (Wolves), Fernando Marino (Bats) and James Allegro (HCD) also intend to play a lot. Considering the interests of Coach Andreas Bohinc, that wants to test a lot of people, it is likely that all of them play a lot.

Lisander will face Unified Sunrise Islands in a Friendly Match in MD1, since both teams have a bye on this day.

Schedule:
MD2: v Kaboomlandia
MD3: v Ilyseum
MD4: v Nova Anglicana
MD5: v Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland

The TDS Quick 'n' Easy Guide to the 32nd World Cup of Hockey

Need I remind everyone of the last World Cup of Hockey? Where we managed to pull off the impossible? I think I should, but only to pad out this article. First up, we had another easy group stage, where our supposed biggest rivals Cosumar were actually quite easy to beat; 4-1 on the opening day. Anthor were also another easy team to beat, thanks to another 4-1 win, but they really put the pressure on us in our Round of 16 rematch, where they forced us to overtime. We still won, 1-0, but I honestly think we could've done better there. Fortunately we did, when we grabbed an easy 4-2 win over the Unified Sunrise Islands to make it to our fourth semi-final in a row. There, we played and beat Ficiscia 3-2 to book our place in the final. Against Valanora. Fortunately, we managed to beat them 3-1 to take home our second World Cup of Hockey trophy, which was even more impressive when you take into account that we had won every single game in the tournament (even though you could make the argument that it doesn't really count, since a) it was single elimination rather than best-of; and b) that second match against Anthor went to overtime, so I guess you can't really say we got a regulation time win in every game). Meanwhile, Novaya Zemlya lost 4-1 to Ficiscia to claim their second fourth place finish; maybe this will be the tournament where they'll claim their first medal, whether it be gold, silver or bronze.

Either way, we're back now. And we're back in Valanora, which is where the 28th edition was held. While we can't say that the group stage was anything exciting (three draws and two wins), it did pick up a little bit for the Round of 16. Yes, we did play a couple more low-scoring games, this time against The Sword Bloke (which makes you think what Shop Owner's up to these days), but the fact that we shut them out in both games was actually quite an achievement. But then we played Esparmuran, who were swept by Gregoryisgodistan in the finals of the [then] last WCoH, in the Quarter-finals. Naturally, everyone was thinking that Team Espar would put an end to our run there, so imagine their surprise when we swept them, winning game one 3-1 and game two 5-3. Sadly, Valanora would succeed in ending our run by sweeping us but we managed to win our series against Nova Anglicana 2-1 to take home third place. In short, it was a little bit of a step down from the 27th edition but we still pulled through it alright.

An old picture of Mike
Cruickshank, from his U of
A days, taken around the
turn of the millennium
But, before I get onto the actual story, I'd like to point out that, yes, the rumours are apparently true. This will be Mike Cruickshank's last international tournament. No, he's not retiring from ice hockey just yet; there's still half a season and however long he'll be in Mercedini for. But, after this tournament, the only time he'll be wearing an Icy Elephants jersey will be when he's watching a game. Or if he's out and about. Either way, it's a shame to see him go, especially after such an illustrious career. He began his career playing with the University of Avon Ice Cats, where he played for four seasons, winning a Forrest Cup with them back in 1999 (and runner-up in 2000, when they lost their series against the University of Davenport 4-3) before he moved to the Barr Bears in 2002. After playing with them for two seasons, he then moved to the Mainsborough Icemen, where he played with them for the next ten years. He then moved to Krisþisinam Járnisarn in Praciba for a three year contract, which is set to expire in the Summer. Internationally, he started off small, playing a handful of games for the junior side around the turn of the millennium, before making his international debut (and scoring his first point) in a 2006 friendly against Neu Engollon (a match which Elejamie won 5-0) and becoming a national team regular since 2008.

OK, now I'll get onto each game. And, first up, we've got the Natanians and Nosts. They weren't at the last World Cup of Hockey, nor were they at the one before that. But they were at the 29th edition over in Quebec, where they lost all but one of their games over in Quebec City. Including an 8-0 blowout to then-World Champs Valanora! In fact, the only match that didn't result in a loss was a 3-2 win over Armeia, who would end up losing all of their games. Before that, there was their debut in the 28th edition, also in Valanora, where they were in Group C. They won one (2-0 against Nassau-Hessen on the last day), drew one (5-5 against Havl) and lost three, resulting in another fifth place finish. In short, an easy win. No bones about it.

After that, we've got Anthor. They were in our group, where they lost game (4-1 to us) and drew one (1-1 to Tobiasia, their first game of the tournament) but still managed. There they faced us again and, while they did show some improvement by forcing it into overtime, it still wasn't enough for a quarter-final appearance as we still managed to beat them 1-0. Before that they were in Norrehavn, where they finished Group D with one win, one draw and three losses. A massive improvement over their debut in Quebec, where the only match that didn't result in a loss was a goalless draw against Kazirstan in their third Group H game. And, of course, we had those pre-tournament friendlies against them a few days before we were all to jet off to Valanora.

Next, we're up against Tomikosan. They're new to the tournament, which means that a win's more than likely going to happen. However, the Hockey-loids (as they've dubbed themselves) have a few tricks up their sleeves, with Elijah Malky Kagamine (who also doubles as captain), Boniface Alanna Kagamine, Bobby MacArthur-Slinclaire and Manfred Hauptmann being a few stand-out names. But will they be a challenge for the Icy Elephants? Not really.

And, finally, we've got the Free Republics. While I'm not really that sure about their World Cup of Hockey performance, I do know they had an ice hockey team in the 9th Winter Olympics back in Saugeais. And their men's team didn't do that well, winning only one game, drawing two and losing one, finishing their group in last place. Their women's team didn't fare much better, as a win, a loss and a draw landed them a third place group stage exit. If I find any information about how they fared at the WCoH, I'll let you all know.

And that's basically it, really. Quite an easy group if I say so. In fact, there's a very good chance that, much like Hannasea, Anthor and Elejamie will be the two teams in this group that'll be making it to the next round. The Natanians and Nosts might be world-class when it comes to rugby sevens but, on the ice, they're nothing really spectacular on the ice. Tomikosan does have some potential but I think we'll have to wait a tournament or two before they'll be able to show it off. And there's a very good chance that we'll see a repeat of the Free Republics' men's performance in Saugeais here.

As for all the other big names? The Calcuttas (who are the other favourites to win the tournament) will be in Group A, where they'll be up against Cosumar and Tobiasia (our WCoH31 groupmates) as well as Averyickan City and The Redvale. The main standouts of Group B are our old rivals/buddies The Royal Kingdom of Quebec, where they're up against Nephara, Qasden, Dyclete and Savojarna, a team that on paper looks like a successor to the old Ficiscian team. In Group C, Novaya Zemlya's biggest rivals for a spot in the Round of 16 seem to be Aquitayne and Neu Engollon, with Botten and Chromatika being the standard two newcomers. Esparmuran are in Group E, alongside the Vilita and Turori, Norrehavn, Solitary Goats (who may or may have goats on their team, much like how the old Gregory Llama Land team was made up of human and llamas) and United Bermuda. And, in Group H, we've got Nova Anglicana and Kaboomlandia battling it out for the top spot, alongside Ilyseum, Lisander and Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland (had to copy and paste that so I didn't make a mistake). Oh, there's also Abanhfleft in Group F and the Ice Slaves in Group G, can't forget them.

And that's basically your lot. We've been in four consecutive semi-finals, which you'll have to admit is quite an impressive achievement, especially since we've made it to the finals three times in a row. So do I think we'll make it to a fifth one? Yes, absolutely. Will we be making it to the final? Possibly. Will we lift the trophy and get the first double in how many tournaments? It's likely? Will we accomplish another sweep? Not really. Either way, here's hoping that there'll be plenty of excitement on show for us.

An orange Revolution in Prusy Krolewskie part III

The characters
Nicolas Kardashian: Previously known as Nicolas Cyrus. Founder of Golden Goal Sports Bar & Grill and ex-prime minister of Miley World.
George Parros: A Southerner billionnaire, businessman and activist who's funding an orange revolution in Prusy Krolewskie.
Włodzimierz Krzynówek: A public attorney (or defender) from Prusy Krolewskie. Nicolas Kardashian choose him to lead the orange revolution funded by George Parros.
Przemyslaw Milik: Chairman of PrusSat, a TV network in Prusy Krolewskie.
Malgorzata Grzywacz: A tv show host

Part 1: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=397620&start=101
Part 2: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=399889&start=21

Przemyslaw Milik, the chairman of PrusSat, is sitting at a table in a restaurant and is waiting to meet someone. Finally, a man wearing an Oglethorpe Chargers hat (a football team in the Southern Democratic States) sits with him. "Mr. Milik?" "Yes it's me." answers Przemyslaw Milik. "Ok here's what I want: A man named Włodzimierz Krzynówek, he's a public attorney, needs to be invited on a popular talk show on your network and the interviewer just need to let him talk. Here's 10 000$ Southern Dollars." replies the man while giving him a brown envelope. Przemyslaw Milik asks him: "Ok, can I know what he's going to say on my network?" The man replies: "He's gonna talk about politics. That the country needs more democracy and stuff..." Przemyslaw Milik replies: "Ok but Prince Zygmunt won't like it" and the man says "Don't worry, he's in Valanora to watch some hockey and soccer." and he leaves the restaurant.

3 days later, Włodzimierz Krzynówek is invited on the tv show "Pozno w Nocy z Malgorzata Grzywacz":

Malgorzata Grzywacz: My next guest is a public attorney from Puck, please welcome Włodzimierz Krzynówek.
(clap clap clap)

Włodzimierz Krzynówek: Hi!

Malgorzata: Hello Włodzimierz. So you're a public attorney in Puck since 2011?

Włodzimierz: My job is to defend in court anyone who don't have enough money to hire a private attorney. And since I win most of my cases, I choose who to defend, based on if they deserve it or not, if I think they're innocent, I will choose to defend them.

Malgorzata: Niiiiice! So how much cases you defended so far in 2017?

Włodzimierz: Oh too much to count! but I'm not here to talk about myself. I'm here to talk about our government. The monarchic government led by Prince Zygmunt VIII is corrupt, undemocratic and archaic. Prince Zygmunt VIII and his close relatives and friends have been ruling Prusy Krolewskie since 1796, the same family in power for so long! It's unacceptable! We need democracy! I want democracy, you want democracy (while pointing at Malgorzata Grzywacz) and you want democracy (while pointing at the camera), everyone wants democracy! Prusy Krolewskie needs a government change, we need a revolution! Revolution! Rewolucja! (Włodzimierz Krzynówek stands up while scanding "revolution!")

Malgorzata: Oh my god, a revolution?

Włodzimierz: Yes a revolution! I'm gonna call it an orange revolution! It's the only way to have a real democracy! Here's what I'm proposing; Everyone wanting a change and a real democracy let's rally saturday afternoon in front of Malbork castle to show the royal family we don't wanna be ruled by the elites anymore. Let's wear orange! Let's bring plain orange flags, it's gonna be an orange revolution! Pomaranczowa Rewolucjia!

Malgorzata: Oh my god! Oh my god! ...but you know... Prince Zygmunt VIII and his family are in Valanora!

Włodzimierz: Yeah I know it. The Malbork castle is a symbol of monarchy, we have to rally there. Prince Zygmunt VIII will see the news from his hotel room in Valanora, that's my goal...

Malgorzata: Ok that's all the time we have. Let's go to a commercial break and after the pause I'll have an interview with metal singer Radoslaw Brzezanczyk.

Lion's Roar

A SportsWorld Weblog

WCoH 32 set to begin; Lions in pretty good group
by Omega Lion

Image

Yup. It's time for hockey again.

The 32nd World Cup of Hockey is set to begin in a few days in the wonderful nation of Valanora. Home to the ageless elves, Valanora is ranked 2nd in the world for hockey and many of their officials are among the higher ups in the multiversal hockey Federation. The Lions have had mixed results recently, finishing 4th in the 29th edition, embarrassingly skipping the 30th edition due to conflicts with the domestic season, and dropping a 3-1 decision in the Round of 16 to Vilita & Turori after an undefeated group stage in WCoH 31. Somehow this has all resulted in the Lions earning a rank of 5th in the world, which is quite impressive considering the circumstances.

The Lions will be playing in the ominously-named Reaper Coliseum in the city of Baysleef. Baysleef is unique among the venues because it is located in the middle of a large forest. So it's possible to take in a hockey game and see many wonderful species of wildlife and plants as well. While this figures to be a fairly quiet scene for the Lions, the group stage will likely be anything but. Let's take a look at the Lions' group.

MD1: Ilyseum (26)

For their first game, the Lions will take on the 26th-ranked nation of Ilyseum. Ilyseum made their debut back in WCoH 29, in the Lions' group, actually. They flopped their way to an 0-1-4 finish, but gave the Lions a good game in their first match, losing 5-4. They improved significantly in WCoH 30, finishing 3-0-2 and just one point out of second place. However, in Hannasea in the 31st edition, they reverted to their old ways and finished a dismal 0-1-3. If the pattern continues, they should be a better team this time around, but the Lions will probably be too much for them.

MD3: Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland (UR)

Boy oh boy, what a name on this team. It's their first World Cup in a while, but we've seen the Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnlanders before in Olympic events, with mixed success. One thing's for certain, though. The Lions should wipe the floor with this inexperienced side.

MD4: Lisander (UR)

Lisander is a team we know more for playing rugby than hockey, and their climate down in Brasil is definitely more conducive to warm-weather sports, but they're giving it a try. Media information indicates they'll play a moderately aggressive style similar to the Lions, and that their team is filled with the stars of their new hockey league. It will be a learning experience, as the coaching staff intends to mix and match players and lines. Valuable experience is probably all they're going to come away with against the Lions, though.

MD5: Kaboomlandia (9)

The Lions will face the Kaboomlandia Phoenix on Matchday 5, in a game that will likely decide who wins the group. Kaboomlandia's a top-10 team, and is very experienced. However, they crashed out of WCoH 31 in a 4-1 loss to Ficiscia in the Round of 16. They did finish 3rd in WCoH 30, and made the playoffs in WCoH 29. However, they fared poorly in 27 and 28, finishing with records of 1-0-5 in 27, and 1-2-2 in 28. Still, they are a strong team and boast an experienced goaltender in Dylan Brady and their first line is a bunch of young phenoms. Zack Murray, Bryson Martin, and Kennedy Linden are about as good as it gets for youngsters. It will be a close one, and could even be a draw. Call it a toss-up.

With this group, the Lions look likely to advance to the Round of 16. The only question is, will they actually do anything once they get there?

Espar National Ice Hockey Team

Esparmuran is a medium sized, sparsely-populated freezing wasteland. Snow and ice cover the country 24/7, so one of the only outdoor recreational activities one can do in such almost-inhospitable weather is ice-hockey.

The Espar National Ice Hockey Team will participate in it's ninth World Cup of Hockey. In the 31st WCoH, the team predictably made it out of the group stage before being, predictably, kicked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals, this time by Valanora. The Espar Recreational Community's patience, and money, is running low, so head coach Jimi Stack is going to have to double down and make sure his squad makes past the quarterfinals this time as he's been tasked with a tough challenge: make it at least to the semifinals or you're gone.

Esparmuran has no nickname for it's team. They're boring like that.
Also, because of Esparmuran's tiny population, expect only 10 or so Espar fans in the stands. That said, don't kill any of them (you know who you are).

INJURED:

Palle Nørup, Jonas Mortensen, Darren Ryley were previously in the 1st U-18 International Hockey tournament.
Ole Henriksen and Peder Oakley have officially retired. Both were part of the debuting 24th WCoH Espar team.
Head Coach Jimi Stack will return for the seventh time.
Esparmuran will play a fast-paced, high-scoring game. The team trainers have given instructions for always putting offence first. Because of this, expect all five players on the ice to contribute offensively and shoot from every angle, filling up the SOG. Orrell Beake, Bailey Royston and Blaine Blackwood are the main players on the team to look out for. Orrell Beake is getting old, but he's still is one of the best players in the WCoH, with 116 points (78G) in 54 WCoH games (these stats are out of date). Bailey Royston is a great playmaker and will be able to fight off opponents with his world-class puck-handling. Blackwood is an agile and quick player who will be able to contribute both offensively and defensively.

"Have to Be More Prepared then Ever"
Horn seeks to ensure his Ducks out-class, and have more skills, than any other on the ice this tournament

Vaumort, Anthor(Herald) — Welcome back all my fellow Duck fans, fanatics and critics, as we entertain yet another entrance into the international ice hockey stage, the World Cup of Hockey!

To be sure, head coach Lucius Horn wanted to ensure no one had any rumors about his job security, and he dispelled them immediately when he unveiled the list of the roster invitee's that would be attending his training camp, the week after the Yarmouth Ducks defeated the Penshurst Earls for their third straight title, and the shock it sent around the hockey world pundits was certainly unanticipated. Typical invitee's, including Robertson, Poindexter and Deschamps were on there, however Lane Hunter was the notable absence on the roster this year; indeed, only Robertson, Poindexter, Deschamps, Langely, Pearson and Thorpe are World Cup veterans on this team, every other player will be making their first international appearance in this Cup. In addition to this, Langely is even more surprisingly a back-up behind Yarmouth's general-in-the-net Dickson Moore, a thirty year old who won Goalie of the Year this recently finished season and led the league in both wins, and save percentage.

The roster was controversial from the minute it reached the media, and it has been discerned and interpreted by many others, so I will leave that to them and offer only my brief summary. Many express concern that the lack of experience on this 'whole new level of a playing field' will have a negative impact on the team that is seeking to match their Round of 16 appearance last year, and it exceed. However, far more rational heads have pointed out that Horn spoke on the subject through a press conference last week and he stated "the veterans on the team will perform much like veterans on any team, a core group of leadership for the newer guys to consult and receive advice from. Let's remember, Michael Brice isn't a rookie who only scored 13 goals, and Harold Jewel certainly knows his way around a ring, I don't think the adjustment phase will really affect us at all."

He speaks of course of two of the many press-heralded appearances this is upcoming, the debuts of Michael Brice who many see as the next-generation's forefront defender as he led the league in hits given, an extremely physical player who isn't afraid to rise to the challenge and get the puck, and Harold Jewel, the left winger for Yarmouth who has challenged Poindexter and Robertson for points scored; he has literally battled with the Gods, and come up pretty well, with 43 of his own for the last two seasons, his appearance coupled with Adam Bohatec's will certainly add many more tools into the Duck's offensive arsenal in these upcoming matches.

Speaking onto our arrangements wise, we seem to have earned ourselves the scorn of Lady Lucky once more; we were drawn by our elvish hosts into Group D, where will be joined by Tomikosan, Natanians and Nosts, and, our budding rivals, the defending world champions in Elejamie. The first two group members, Tomikosan and Natanians and Nosts, are both unranked members of the competition and I anticipate that Horn and his team will want to come into those matches and inflict a blowout to secure themselves a morale victory, because let's be honest, even if he hasn't said it, it's pretty obvious to any that know the sport, in that the every match, and every minute, will be spent readying themselves to face off against the Ice Elephants. There is certainly room of revenge, the world champions did a beat down on us in the Group Stage last Cup with a 4-1 loss for us, and then we faced them again in the Round of 16 after qualifying and we lost in overtime off of a well-shot goal, not to mention the two international friendlies we exchanged with them during the weeks building up to this tournament, so we have the experience, we've faced off against them, and I, nay we all, certainly want these Ducks to take on, and take down, the world champions this tournament.

You know, I really think the 5 weeks of training camps negates this whole shtick about 'meh rookies will ruin us'; c'mon guys where is the faith?! Your Ducks came in and dealt last time around, sure there was bumps and bruises, but you know that just means more finish was applied this time around ;)
