To be honest, while I've been a regular in the CdE, this is my
What will be the scorinator?
Scorination will use the latest version of Xkoronate and the SQIS formula. Nations may choose modifiers from -5 on the defensive side to +5 on the attacking side; nations not stating a number will be assigned the neutral zero.
How will they be graded?
RPs will be graded based on quality over quantity and will accumulate over time. Roster posts will count as bonus RP points for those who post them. All RPs posted for the day will be considered in awarding bonus, though only one per day will count at full value.
What will the format be?
As always, this Coupe d’Esquarium would consist of a group stage followed by a knockout stage. (*insert gasps here*) The group stage will be a single round-robin and the knockout stage will grant no byes. The number of groups will depend on the number of sign-ups we receive. Groups, of which there will an equal number no matter what, will be of equal size no matter what and the knockout stage will be arranged so that teams do not move between countries or countries from the same group do not meet before the semifinals unless absolutely necessary.
- 16 nations: 4 groups of 4, winners and runners-up advance to the quarterfinals
- 20 nations: 4 groups of 5, winners and runners-up advance to the quarterfinals
- 24 nations: 6 groups of 4, winners, runners-up and four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 28 nations: 7 groups of 4, winners, runners-up and two best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 32 nations: 8 groups of 4, winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16 (preferred number)
- 36 nations: 6 groups of 6, winners, runners-up and four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 40 nations: 8 groups of 5, winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16
Standard three points for a win, one for a draw, none for a loss. In the inevitable event that ties must be broken, the following criteria will be taken into account:
- H2H points
- H2H goal difference
- H2H goals for
- Overall goal difference
- Overall goals for
- Drawing of lots (to be done via a scorinated play-off)
Eligibility
Any association affiliated with the Esquarian Football Association may participate. No Republic of Nevanmaa, or Caliphate teams plox.
Each user would be allowed to enter one puppet, provided that they post in the sign-ups thread with said puppet and their main publicly confirm it. If nations need to be cut to get to a nice round multiple of four, puppets will be cut in reverse order of sign-up (last puppet gets cut first, etc) or at owner’s request. Please use your puppet to post RPs meant to count for your puppet; all RPs will count towards the bonus of the nation they are posted with.
Nations must be residing in Esquarium prior to December 4th, 2016 to be eligible.
And when will sign-ups close?
Good question! They will close at 10:00 pm CST (Saskatchewan doesn't use DST, so it's always 6 hours behind UTC) on Saturday, December 10th, or when 40 nations join. My hope is to get the Everything Thread up by then, and for the first match to be played on the 12th of December. So you have about a week to sign up.
