Calix City Open | Calix City

| Kebec and Calix City |
Kebec is a democratic, thriving northern nation in the North Sea. Interestingly, the northern part of Kebec is mostly tundra, pioneered by the native Eskimo population, however, the farther south you go, the warmer the temperature becomes, at best reaching a sizzling 36 degrees. The leader of the nation is called the Premier, the current Premier is Arinjor Bjarki who resides in the nation's capital of Nuuk. Seen as a somewhat primitive country, it is unknown to the multiverse that much of Kebec sports many stadiums and buildings are modernized and up-to-date.Rugby is a relatively unknown sport, but, it has gained recent popularity in the past decade throughout the nation. Traveling to Kebec will allow you to experience the native peoples performing their rituals alongside seeing the big cities of Nuuk and the rustic cities of Calix City and Eckenburg. The most prominent faith in Kebec is paganism (Norse Mythology), it is illegal to attempt to convert someone. Doing so will subject you to death by trident. Kebec is very strict about someone traveling to it, you are required to have a valid passport from the nation of origin, a valid temporary passport Kebec and a valid visa from Kebec along with paying N$350.00. Among strange things, public nudity is illegal, why not? Odin does it! However, public sexuality is illegal as per public code.
Calix City is located in the Kebecois province of Norway, locally referred to as Oslo. Calix City is a large metropolis of over 350.201 thousand people, a whopping size as it is situated in Norway. Calix City is know doubt the rustic version of Sario, almost the same size, however, older and well... rustier? Here in Calix City, you'll find a bunch of old nature-loving freaks playing with trees. Currently, plans are in work to renovate much of Calix City, the old, crumbling ruins in certain areas have caused Kebec to consider renovation of this region. Calix City however will be on its best display after receiving a N$196-million dollar renovation of the airport and its rails.

Calix City Open | Calix City Gardens Shooting Range

| Calix City Gardens Shooting Range |
This hollowed range, the Calix City Shooting Ranges is filled within its walls with history worthy of hundreds of years worth of folklore. This range is situated within the highly revered Calix City Botanical Gardens which opened to the public years ago in 1907. The gardens have been known as a place of much mystery, legend has it that the ghosts of animals and humans alike come back to live amongts the trees, whether this shall be proven true is no doubt a mystery. As such, the gardens are kept as part of the ever-growing wish to preserve ancient Calix City. The city itself has been around since ancient times, dating back to 463AD, however, this has come under much scrunity, modern times have the birth of the city a little over 200 years ago in 1811. Calix City itself has many treasurs just beyond plain sight, with its massive, rising columns allover and its label as a city of mystery. It is rumored to be home of ancient pirates and soldiers alike who sailed the high seas.

The tourney itself will take play at the Calix Botanical Gardens in the southwestern part of Calix City, the gardens will continue operations throughout the entire tourney. The Botanical Gardens will receive major renovations and will build a 11.000-seater temporary stadium which will house individual archery. Team archery will take place within the actual gardens at various locations. Patrons will be allowed to interact with the wildlife present but shall remain in civilized manner during the event. The Calix Botanical Gardens will be in harge of all festivities related to the event including prelude gallas and the awards ceremony.

The Royal Society of Judean Archers is pleased to present the Judean Royal Archery Team. Once again these three Judean archers have arrived to honor their King and their country. Archery has a long history in the Kingdom of Judea and is one of time honored sports of the nation. The Archery Society is hoping to host an event in Yafo later this year in the NSAO Tour. For now, the team has come to the Calix City Open, hosted by Kebec.

JUDEAN ROYAL ARCHERY TEAM (JUD)
COACH: Ehud benDekel

ARCHERS
Eyal benOren
Lihi batKidla
Lior batAryeh

ALTERNATES
Oren benMaayan
Bithiah batTzvi
Melech benAmnon

About the Archers

Eyal benOren of Aitit, a village in Tsor County of the Sureyah Region, has been competitively shooting bow since his early teens. His experience with a bow began earlier when his father would take him bowhunting for deer. From those early times he has continued to shoot bow through secondary and tertiary schools. Eyal benOren began professional competing after graduating from the Royal University of Dammeśeq. He currently holds two national championship titles and finished in the Round of 16 during the last NSAO. When not shooting bow, Eyal is a software developer and game-programmer for a Judean entertainment firm.

Lihi batKidla of Ashkelon is one of Judea’s most highly decorated archers, with four national championship titles to her name. Lihi is an expert bowess, having first become interested in the sport while attending summer camp in her youth. Lihi continued to participate in archery in youth competitions and eventually stepped onto the national stage. While she did not rise to the challenge during the last NSAO, Lihi remains an extremely popular athlete in Judea and rumor has it that she may make an acting debut in a historical drama about Yael bat Yitzchak, a medieval Judean princess and spymaster.

Lior batAryeh of Eilat is the youngest member of the Judean team, and has only four years in national circuit but has already scored a national championship win. She won the the juniors competition in her first post-collegiate tournament, and has been a force to reckon with ever since. She returns to the NSAO Tour hoping to surpass her previous Round of 32 finish. Lior has often been described as being the “little sister” to the other members of the Judean team, and in interviews has confirmed that team mate Lihi batKidla is one of her personal heroes and the reason she began participating in competitive archery.

Delegation of Qasden for Calix City Open

Calix City, quite a gander of rustic Kebec at its finest. The city, locally known as Oslo, has been renowned for many things. It's history, it's culture, it's...shooting ranges? Well, that third part may not exactly be true, but for the next week or so, it will be as the NSAO tour starts right here, at the Calix City Open. Players will have to endure the harsh temperatures and each other's flat-out skill to determine who really is the greatest on ice. Last time, in Petrovijanka for NSAO 1, we saw our own Tyler Ponaski take 2nd in the individuals event, while the Vans struggled to keep up in the team event resulting in a premature defeat. Today, we mark the start of an era, an era that leads Qasden to the throne of the NSAO2 tour! The following list displays the names of our three archers that will be competing in the individuals competition, as well as 3 back-up archers for the team event, should one of the starters be unavailable.

CCO Roster
•Tyler Ponaski (2)
•Marlie Yikati (22)
•David Acuais (39)

~Reserves~
•Diamond Hart
•Lyric Cusat
•Medellin Tazano

Can the BRs take down the competition and claim an NSAO victory, once and for all? Or will the icy Calix City prove to be to much to the natives of Southwestern Atlantian Oceania. Stay tuned for futures reports published by QADAN (Qasden Athletic News).

Just no injuries or deaths without getting my permission first. Feel free to make wacky shots. The weirder, the better!

Mattijanan Roster For The Calix City Open

Archery in Mattijana:

Archery in Mattijana has hit new highs after the Inaugeral NS Archery Open was held in the capital, Petrovijanka at the newly-renovated MattijanaTierZentrar. Mattijana came a positive 3rd in the team competition and will hope to build on that success over the coming tournaments, particularly after the Mattijanan Sports Department lodged a bid for the second of 4 NSA tour tournaments, to be named the Petrovijanka Open.
Mattijana's team are probably most likely to bring home a medal after their bronze on home turf, however, they also have 3 highly talented individual performers.

The Archers:

Matej Pingov:

The aptly named Pingov grew up in the Northern town of Kranjagrad, normally known for its motor-racing heritage as it is situated just a few miles from the Kopylov InternazionRing, Mattijana's WGPC-spec racetrack. However, it was always archery that captivated Pingov, as the reasonably rural nature of the region, as well as the local hills, meant that he and his family were able to practice their skills on trees, targets and the occasional deer in relative peace.
Having moved up through the ranks of international target-shooting, Pingov was selected for the Olympic Games in Centralis in the summer, before reaching the round of 16 in Petrovijanka shortly afterwards. He will hope to improve on that this time round.

Jelena Alićič:

The Mattijanan number 2 is still in the fairly early days of her career at 25 and has been making solid progress despite an early exit in NSAO 1. She comes from the island of Antalja, just off the south coast of Mattijana and although archery is not part of its rich cultural history, it is very much on the rise in the area, mainly due to her efforts. She is expected to win a few ties this time round, although winning may be slightly beyond her.

Katja Kreuzana:

The youngest member of the squad at just 19 years of age, Kreuzana is a graduate of the renowned Pulnik academy, a school for aspiring sports professionals also offering a high level of academic performance. She also made an early exit from NSAO 1, albeit at the hands of eventual winner Ameila Defence (West Phoencia). With more experience on the board, she will be hoping to reach the quarter finals at least, but may also struggle to progress further.

No injuries or deaths (although how one would pick up anything more than an elbow strain doing archery is slightly beyond me). Other than that, any dodgy business is quite welcome. So are some nice juicy winds.
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

The individual ranking round at the Calix City Open. Has left West Phoenicians in a quiver. With only Ameila Defence making the cut to reach the top 8. And just through the skin of her teeth. The overall number 3 is amazed that she ranked so slow coming off such success recently.

Head Coach Roberto Taylor was even more unhinged as he witnessed Pete Long and Marion Hood bowing out. While Marion's game has not been so sharp lately due to her taking time off to complete the West Phoenician Air Force Officer Selection Board it is a travesty her placing 13th.
Pete Long narrowly missed out placing 9th behind Miss Defence.

Another shock was the early out of number 2 overall Tyler Ponaski of Qasden. Ameila was hoping to get another crack at one of her biggest rivals.

Ameila Defence moves onto the quarter-finals where she plays off against Big Soo of The Furbish Islands.

"I have no idea who this person is. But by the end of the match, my name will be a memory on their lips as i move to the semi finals." Miss Defence said waving the victory finger sign to cameras as she left the tournament today.

“Seventeen archers in what is supposed to be a major tournament,” Eyal benOren scoffed. “Maybe archery is a dying sport.” Lihi batKidla sighed.

“Maybe. All you see on television these days is football.”

“It’s not dying,” insisted Lior batAryeh. “The world just needs to gain the refinement to appreciate the sport.” Eyal snorted.

“Refinement. Right.”

EYAL benOREN TAKES SECOND IN CCO QUALIFIERS

The qualifying mass shoot that begun the individual tournament of the Calix City Open was held yesterday with good news for one Judean and poor news for other. Of the seventeen archers participating in the mass shoot, only eight moved on to the elimination tournament and of those, only Eyal benOren will represent Judea.

BenOren placed second in the qualifiers in a close mirroring of his results in the first NSAO when he was edged out by Matej Pingov of Mattijana. With eleven bullseyes, benOren has certainly earned his spot going forward. Unfortunately for the Judeans, Lihi batKidla and Lior batAryeh were not so successful and once again find themselves eliminated in the tournament.

“It’s disappointing,” said Lihi batKidla. “I’m used to performing at a much higher level than this.” BatKidla has a number of trophies to her name, including multiple national championships.

“You see a lot of different places when you participate in international sports,” says Coach Ehud benDekel. “For some people it’s difficult to acclimate to new climates. As we travel around and get used to new climates, you can expect our archers to start performing everywhere to the level they do at home.”

STRANGE RESULTS PROMPT QUESTIONS AT CCO

The opening qualifiers are not free of the whiff of scandal, however. Highly ranked archers like Tyler Ponaski and Marion Hood have fallen by the wayside while relative unknowns have progressed, including Big Soo of the Furbish Islands who managed to lead the pack.

Of particular note is that all three of the host nation’s archers progressed despite having no history with the NSAO. This unexpected result has some questioning whether or not the opening stages of the archery competition were administered fairly.

“It is a curious occurrence,” admitted benDekel. “I’m not saying that anything toward happened, it just seems strange is all. I certainly don’t know anything that would suggest the hosts were giving the home team and unfair advantage.” Still, many are left wondering just what is happening on the fields of Calix City.

Fans in Disbelief After Round 1 Tragedy in Kebec

Today marked a new era for the NationStates Archery Open, as it embraces a new tour-like style, with 4 mini-tournaments leading up to the grand NSAO itself coming next February or March. With Kebec hosting the first tourney, the Calix City Open, things didn't go as well as hoped for the Qad archers.

Firstly, the shocking uninclusion of archer, David Acuais, from the ranking round. While we could've said he might have just gone through with a bye, it ain't expected as both Yikati and Ponaski, the other two higher-ranked TQ archers, had to participate in it. Fans were outraged not to see David's name anywhere on the board. "It's shocking really," Acuais began as his fellow allies pursued the ranking round, "I would've thought that we specified that Marlie, Tyler and I would represent Qasden in the ranking round, not just Marlie and Tyler. This is a big mistake for CCO's organizers and to the host city and nation, whom I believe think should redo this whole ordeal. Oh well, guess I'll just have to try my luck in the team event I suppose.".

After the initial wrench thrown towards Qasden, the entire freaking toolbox crashed on the country's head as Ponaski, the 2nd-ranked archer overall and top-ranked archer represented in Calix City, struggled to maintain a good score. Meanwhile, Yikati had actually performed much better than Tyler, going head-to-head in an intense battle for first. It was undoubtedly one of the craziest rounds of archery ever experienced for TQ and NSAO in general.

In the end, Marlie finished 3rd in the ranking round, with 6 bullseyes and no missed targets. Tyler, whom had just 2 bullseyes less than Yikati, finished with 615 points, 15th place and overall cut from the competition. This was a major blow to the Vans' confidence going into the team ranking round tomorrow and the individuals quarterfinals. First place had gone to Big Soo, a rather unfamiliar and new face from the debuting country of Furbish Islands. While Soo had won, the archer must clash with the 8th overall player from the ranking round, the NSAO heavyweight, Amelia Defence of West Phoencia. Despite the top seed playing the 8th seed and the 2 seed taking on the 7th seed for the quarterfinals, organizers of the CCO have aligned strange 3v4 and 5v6 duels for the quarters as well, matching Marlie Yikati against Kebec's Jean-Jacques Lucroy.

"Calix City sure is off to a weird start," Yikati spoke in a post-game interview, "but I'm sure things will get fixed soon. I'm sure the Kebecois didn't want two of their own having to clash in the quarters, but they could've just made it to where Vasseur (the 5th seed from Kebec) and had Lucroy play Pingov (6th seed from Mattijana/Marlie's intended opponent). I guess it can't be NSAO without a little crazy, right?". Tyler, however, felt the tournament was rigged of some sorts. He theorized, "I find it a little odd that, for one thing, all 3 Kebecois made the quarters and two, that David [Acuais] wasn't even in the round at all, despite having been confirmed one of Qasden's main 3. I don't know what these hosts are up to, but I might as well save that until we fall in the team event, which we won't. Congrats to Soo and Yikati on their respective victory and progression, and I guess next for me is the team event.".

That's all from this report. Can the Vans somber up enough strength to play well tomorrow in the team event? Can Marlie Yikati carry what's left of the blue and red all the way to the finals? Only one chicken gets to cross the road, so stay parked, stay tired, and stay clucked for our next report, fresh from the Calix City Open!

The United Republic of Kernovi is proud to be presenting it's first international delegation to the world of Archery, long considered the traditional sport of Kernovi and in recent years, having the sport enshrined in statute as the national sport of Kernovi, with all the protection that comes with it. Having missed the individual rounds due to passporting issues in Calix City Central Airport, the 'Kernovi Archery Team' is nonetheless happy to make an appearance for the Teams Ranking Round. The team is accompanied by outgoing Kernovi Premier Elizabeth Beal, of the Repoblekan An Parti [The Republicans (Kernovi)], as the High Courts are in recess ahead of the first round of Kernovi's first Presidential Race.

1st ShooterAlfred Cernovii23Greater KernoviiCernovii is the three-year defending champion of the Kernovi Archery League, entering the professional circuit at only 17. He became a overnight celebrity in the final of the 2014 Finals, where he turned an incredibly weak start into a 1 Point victory over opponent Victor Doyle, a feat that was very nearly repeated in the 2015 Finals. Cernovii was born to an family previously represented in the Court of Peers, although he personally spends his time working as a sponsor for various firms.
2ndVictor Doyle26Petroc

Sten Omdhi'skans (Graduated)
Doyle is considered the rival of Cernovii, having lost both the 2014 and 2015 domestic finals to him, as well a televised friendly shoot-off. None-the-less, Doyle is an incredibly talented Archer, having graduated from a prestigious sports academy in Sowena, the capital of the Sten Omdhi'skans province.
3rdChester Bligh26AsisiChester is an interesting choice for the team, having not shot professionally in the 2015 domestic circuit, however, his selection was on the basis of his strong showings in 2014 and 2012. Further, it is suspected that due to his recent resurgent celebrity status, being the runner-up in domestic reality show 'Celebrity Jungle', the Kernovian Archery Commission was pressured to selected him to raise interest in the Calix City Open domestically.

After what only can be called a bad LSD trip suffered by all athletes at the Calix City Open it appears changes have been made and additional archers put forward to qualify.

West Phoenicia must have prayed to all their gods for the results to lean in their favour.

With the new Individual scores rescored it appears that, Ameila Defence, Marion Hood and Pete Long all progressed.

Like a delicious banana split with an added cherry, they all moved forward to the Round of 16 with an air of confidence.

Amelia Defence was able to defeat missing in action only to return David Acuais from Qasden. With a win by 10 points, she smiled and waved him goodbye from this tournament and delivery her famous victory kiss in his direction.
Ameila has first place on her mind, and nobody not even her own team are safe. She did state she wishes she had been the one to take out Tyler Ponaski one of her biggest rivals. But she was content someone had did that for her.

Not to be outdone Marion Hood defeated another Qasden player Marlie Yikati. Unlike Ameila, Marion kept it classy by shaking hands with her competitor.

And Pete long kept in the tournament by defeating Robert Vasseur of Kebec.

West Phoeicia has a long history of being good at archery. Whether in passed wars where their archers were able to decimate an entire Cavalry Unit to friendly competition. Archery is in their blood.

They next plan to decimate the opposition from House of Judah and Frestovenia.

Coach Taylor was elated that a possible 1,23 is insight.

“So, thoughts on Defence?” asked Lihi batKidla.

“She’s arrogant,” Eyal benOren replied. “She’s earned some right to it, taking third in the NSAO, but she’s gotten through by the skin of her teeth plenty of times. She also has no class.” Lior batAryeh giggled at the last and Lihi rolled her eyes. “How about you, Kiddo? Thoughts on Lucroy?”

“He’s doing alright,” Lior replied. “Haven’t seen too much of him around town or in the news so I can’t really judge him.”

“Fair enough. Well, we just have to make sure to shoot straighter than them and we’re good to go.”

“That simple, huh?” Lihi said with a laugh. “I still can’t believe you beat me,” she said to Lior. “What ever happened to experience and treachery beating out youth and exuberance?”

“Well you already taught me to be treacherous,” Lior replied. “And I’m gaining ground on that experience.”

“I’ll have to give you that one.”

“Alright, ladies,” Eyal said. “Time to get ready for tomorrow. Britonisea has a good team and they’re about as good as we are. Last call for us.”

“Boooooooooo!” Lior complained.

“It’s for your own good, kiddo. Drink it down then get to bed.” Lior grumbled for a moment before taking another swig of her beer. Her eyes trailed around the room until they locked onto a group of young women out drinking together. Eyal followed her eyes and frowned at her. “Alone, if you don’t mind.”

“Fine,” Lior acquiesced, then finished her beer and followed the two older archers out of the bar.

Drugs, Match Fixing and Late Entry Chaos-and we thought the Olympics were bad

The first round of the inaugural NS archery tour got off to a controversial start in Calix City, Kebec, as it was ruled that a number of administrational errors by Kebecois and NSAO officials had rendered the results of the first individual ranking round null-and-void.
It became apparent later that this was due to David Acuis, a talented archer from Qasden, being left off the initial start list for the individual tournament, however it has also been alleged that the re-run made room for a number of late-comers to the tournament, including archers from Frestovenia and Kernovi.
Mattijanan number 1, Matej PIngov, was a victim of the change, having initially qualified, but fallen foul of the re-run, in which a score 605 left him 10 points short of qualification. Speaking to Mattijanan media after the rectified results were published, Pingov vented his frustration, anger and disappointment in one big cocktail of irritation:
"I don't know what's going on really. The score they showed me was easily enough to qualify me for the knockout stages, but I woke up this morning and found that according to the organisers, I only scored 605. It's confusing and it's just unfair on everyone who thought they were good enough to qualify and are now having to pack their bags. Where these other archers have come from is beyond me, but for sure, I think the people behind all this have some explaining to do. There's a load of Kebecan newbies easily getting put through despite not having been anywhere near an archery event before and then there's people going out the back end."
Mattijanan 2, Jelena Allicic was another victim of the changes in ranking. She was just a point short of qualification, but has been unavailable for comment. However, she is rumoured to be 'not best pleased.'

Despite a sense of injustice felt by some, West Phoencian archers have a somewhat alternative view of events. They believe that all athletes at the tournament were drugged before the ranking round, possibly with Lisergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD). Whether this was the work of a rogue chemical reaction in the Calix City Gardens Bar, a radical fringe group or Kebecois trying to ensure their athletes progressed is still an unanswered question, but the theory could also explain the strange happenings.

The last time Mattijanans were caught in controversy was during the Aeropag Olympics, when BMX cyclist Riko Salazar became embroiled in Condom-gate, where numerous athletes were caught throwing water-filled condoms at one-another, prompting the Archregimancy's Vrsar the Heavily Accented to proclaim "Outrage".

Meanwhile in the Team Tournament, Mattijana channelled some of their anger into determination as they topped the mass shoot with a massive 1886 points, including an impressive 26 bullseyes, beating Qasden by 3 points and setting up a second round tie with New Gelderland. Defending champions, the New Telengana Rajj, just sealed qualification in 8th place, 12 points clear of the drop zone.

Since then, remaining Mattijanan Katja Kreuzana was eliminated in disappointing fashion by Kebecois Jean-Jaques Lucroy by 104 points to 102. Some sorer Mattijanans called Dingo, but the result was called legitimate by those actually attending the match.

Pingov, Kreuzana and Allicic will return for the team match against New Gelderland tonight.

Calix City Open

Calix City Proving Weird, Kebecois Archers Holding Out

- By Axel Serre

Kébec was obiviously considered ill-prepared to host an NS Archery Tourney however, the members of the NS Archery Association approved the Kebecois bid, thus, Calix City, known locally as Oslo was thrust into the vibrant spotlight. As with any tournament Kebec hosts, the open is not without allegations and conspiracies. People are wonderning, is the Calix City Open tainted or is it clean? The Kebecois Sporting Association has maintained that the open is clean, although it admits it has made mistakes in refereeing the competition which lead to a massive redo of the mass-shoot. Says NS Archery's number two archer according to a Van article, "I find it a little odd that, for one thing, all 3 Kebecois made the quarters and two...", he later added, "I don't know what these hosts are up to, but I might as well save that until we fall in the team event, which we won't." The KSA is apalled that the Vans have knowingly accused Kebec of 'doctoring' result to their benefit without outrightly saying it. Mattijana's top archer who originally was the top qualifier in the first Indiv. ranking round was a victim of the redo, falling to 23rd after the re-run. The Mattijanan article said, "I don't know what's going on really. The score they showed me was easily enough to qualify me for the knockout stages, but I woke up this morning and found that according to the organisers, I only scored 605. It's confusing and it's just unfair on everyone who thought they were good enough to qualify and are now having to pack their bags."

The Kebec team has also failed to come thru which was expected, two of their archers failed in the Round of Sixteen Dominuq Ancel 'took the L' to a clearly superior Judean archer and one of the best in the world, Eyal benOren. Ancel said, "Props to benOren who clearly proved the better archer after our fierce compeititon. I look forward to the team event, we face our big rivals across many sports, the Vans." Included, Robert Vasseur, a native of Calix City's suburb, New Calix bowed out against West Phoencian Pete Long, losing after leading much of the game. Said Vasseur, "The Gods above me were disappointed in me, Odin must have yelled up in Asgard as I failed him. Þorbjörn shall surely destroy me soon." In limelight however, Jean-Jacques Lucroy feared better in her win against a Mattijian, Katja Kreuzana winning surprisingly against top opposition. Said Lucroy, "It came down to the line, no longer was it about me but about country. In the end, when I come before the Gods, I will show them my medal in their honor."

In the upsets, the entire Van team has bowed out in terrible fashion, in a 1, 2, 3-punch, David Acuais lost by ten points to open the game losing against Amelia Defence in which many expected, Marion Hood's archery skills skewered the next Van, Marlie Yikati who lost by eleven points, two West Phoencians destroyng 2/3rds of the Van team. Finally, in the surprise, NS No. 2, Tyler Ponaski bowed out losing by eight points to an unknown and unranked archer out out of Frestovenia, Theo Narmen.

Coming up on the 26th, live from Calix City, Kebecois archer Jean-Jacques Lucroy will square off against the Judean favorite Lior batAryeh in the second semifinal match. At worst, Lucroy has assured herself a placement in the 3rd-place Playoff as she is expected to lose horrifically against the Judean.

Stumbles and Tumbles, What Happened In Calix City

The first tournament of the NSAO2 tour did not go as hoped for, as TQ showed struggles in the opening rounds of both the individuals and team events.

It all started with...well...we'll call it the False Start at Calix City. Acuais had been omitted for some reason while the highly-ranked Ponaski was quickly eliminated. While fans were flustered by the ranking round, many came into suspicion that the Kebecois were tampering with the game. That turned out to be a hoax, as the round was later redone. The second take of the false start resulted in a pleasing progression for all 3 Qads to the round of sixteen. Meanwhile, the team showed strong power in the ranking round, ending 2nd behind Mattijana with 26 bullseye and 1 missed target. While Qasden would've faced the 7th-seed New Telengana Rajj, CCO organizers thought it'd be much more interesting to pit them against 6th-seed Kebec.

The next day showed our individual archers playing against some hardcore opponents, like West Phoenicia's Marion Hood and Amelia Defence, while also playing against lesser-known newbies, like Frestovenia's Theo Narmen. Surely at least one Qad could progress. First up was David Acuais taking on Amelia Defence. After strong efforts, David was overall shamed by Amelia, losing by 10 points. Ok, no deal. Next was Markus Yikati, who faced Marion Hood in the round of 16. Again, efforts were made, but had fallen short by a mere 11 points. Worry flourished amongst Qads in the pubs and fanzones of T.V. City. Surely the highly-ranked Tyler Ponaski wouldn't lose to the new guy, Theo Norman, right? Some predicted that the horror of the False Start might realitize once more, and that may be now. 106-98. Frestovenia's beginner's luck took them to exponential heights as Norman somehow infringed the highest-ranked archer in the individuals event, also becoming the final factor towards the premature elimination of Qad players from basically half of the entire open. In the quarterfinals, Defence will take on Judea's Eyal benOren, Hood will play Frestovenia's Michael Reboss, and Norman will be pitted against West Phoenicia's Pete Long. We wish good luck to all of them.

Well, this tournament could be worse, right? Well, the Vans got to play the home team in the quarterfinals, with the winner facing NSAO1 champions, The New Telengana Rajj, in the semis. We gave it our all, and the trio showed strong determination and accuracy against the Kebecois. In the end...we lost. Your worst nightmares are very vrai, sadly. The BRs failed to stop the sharpshooters and, after the last arrow was fired, a 7-point deficit sunk Qasden's hopes to stay afloat in the team event. And so, Kebec will play the ironclads of NTR, and a trip to the CCO Finals against either Judea or New Gelderland awaits them.

Hearts are shattered across the nation and maybe even the region entirely as the 'pality must face the horrible reality of an early exit from an NSAO tournament. While drinking rates in Qasden will probably significantly increase, our confidence in TQ archery will never decrease. Rebounds are not uncommon for Qad players and/or teams, so expect a better performance at tourney 2, which at the moment seems to be taking place in Petrovijanka, Mattijana, a familiar sight. Ponaski himself stated, "What happened these past few days were nothing short of a joke from our performances. Guess we let the Kebecois weather get to us. But I'll tell you this, when we come back for tourney 2, we will be stronger and better than ever. You hear that, Norman and Kebec? Get ready for a world of revenge in a few weeks.".

That's all from our broadcast in Calix City. Can TQ be avenged by the end of the tournament? Or will Kebec show our adversaries the key to victory? While we may be done, stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for future NSAO reports, only from the Qasden Athletic News! Vans out.

Calix City Open

Kebec's Self Doubt

- By Axel Serre

Kébec's Calix City Open is certainly not without its' mystery as Qasden, the main leader in archery saw all three of its archers crash out in the Quarterfinals of the Individuals, signalling perhaps the Vans are not as good as they say they are. Whether or not this is true is something that surprises many of us as the Vans are considered to be in the top three of archery with is considered the Rajjians, the Vans and of course, the Judean teams. It'll come as a surprise to many that number two archer, Tyler Ponaski came crashing out against an unranked archer by the name of Theo Narmen, an unknown Fretovenian who certainly has proved himself. Namren faces Pete Long, ranked 27th in the world overall. We now must turn to Kebec's fortunes in the team event which see Kebec facing off against who else.... the Rajjians.

Kebec's team has done well which was to be expected, in the NS Archery Open somewhere in Mattijana, Kebec's team took 8th overall or somewhere in the top 10 which is certainly respectable given how archery is slowly rising in Kebec. Kebec will go head to head with the Vans tomorrow on Friday the 25th. The Rajjians come into the Open ranked number one overall, despite not showing up in the individual events. Kebec is expecting a loss, but, they wish to keep the lose "comfortable."
