Welcome to the Republican States of Silvacometopia, where teenage male video gamers often suffer repetitive strain wrist injuries, social media sites go into shut down for days at a time to censor user content, conspiracy theorists allege Nylo's new subway map resembles Satanic symbols, and young children are learning advanced physics to scientifically disprove the existence of Santa Claus.

The competition will be hosted in various cities throughout the nation. We hope you all enjoy the tournament.

J.S: So, there are a remarkably high number of teams who have never made a GWFC appearance before, and the highly anticipated return of Camelone is a major thing in this tournament. Also, Hamitltonia are not participating in this tournament, amid rumours of the end of their Gaelic Football team's funding.
D.M: Myself, I'm very excited to see how Savalen will do, after a year of missing out. So let's go through the groups shall we?

B.C: BeardedAndroidia haven't made to many changes this year to there squad
T.L: Yeah, due to a broken ankle that occurred in the trial match, first choice keeper Tim Redshaw is out meaning Brendan Nixon is starting and Freddie Higgins moves onto the bench.
B.C: Yeah that injury was unfortunate for BeardedAndroidia
T.L: Well Billy Compton has been put into the starting and Mitchell Wade was demoted to the bench.
B.C: Xander Davies and Adam Davidson were called onto the 7-man bench.

Group Draws Announced

For their first appearance at the international competition level Hanalia have been drawn in Group B for the upcoming Gaelic Football World Cup.

This is the 4th edition of the competition and will again be hosted in Silvacometopia. The hosts, currently ranked 4th head up Group A along with Ethane.

Oisinistan will kick of the defence of their title from Group C.

Hanalia will have to preform well in order to advance being up against United Vietussia and BeardedAndroidia, both semi-finalists from the pervious competition.

J.S: Now, our top story is our 0-29 to 0-8 defeat of the inexperienced newcomers of Islana Lunigo.
D.M: What a walloping. In those 80 minutes, there was a goal every 2 minutes.
J.S: Man of the match for me was definitely Luke Dunne, he scored a solid 11 points for Oisinistan to seal a nice victory.
D.M: Agreed, Luke was out of this world in the game, he's pulled off a decent season for Camross this season, but nobody expected much from a GAA season.
J.S: Anyway, let's trip around the groups.
In Group A: Silvacometopia smashed Australand Icelandia by 1-37 to 1-14, Ethane narrowly defeated a plucky Northi Arabia side by 0-16 to 1-12, and Camelone returned to GFWC for the first time in 3 years with a narrow 0-16 to 1-10 victory over Great Caledonia and Northi Hybernia.
D.M: In Group B, United Vietussia were almost beaten by a tough Hanalia side, who eventually lost 0-10 to 0-6. BeardedAndroidia got off to a very poor start, losing to Third Australand in a thrilling 3-11 to 0-17 encounter, while Qasden beat Britonisea 0-23 to 0-15.
J.S: In the other two results in our group, Antrixia won 0-14 to 0-5 against a poor Cheongji side, while Savalen lost to Kep in a surprise 1-14 to 1-26 loss.
D.M: In Group D, Youhavenorightsistan beat Revolutionary Nordskania 1-11 to 0-8, Frenline Delpha beat Barunia 1-16 to 0-4, and Warrahelne surprised Abanhfleft with a 2-14 and 1-11 victory.

Xavier Nogueras led his time back out onto the field for the fourth straight season. This past game showed just why he's still here.

United Vietussia won the game 0-10 to 0-6 over Hanalia. It was a great win for the team as they look to snap a streak of consecutive 3rd places after winning the inaugural season. Hankow native Stephen Cluxton, who is the captain and goalkeeper of the team, had this to say when asked about the upcoming season and the first game.

"It's the first time we've ever had to worry about not having a bye, although I'm not too worried about our team being affected by it. It's the other teams that should be worried. [...]It was a great first game, although it was close. I'm sure we'll have some extra practices coming up in order to set up for our next game. [...]I like our group. We've got a lot of new teams with a few returning teams. [BeardedAndroidia and Britonisea] I think we'll cruise to the playoffs easily, but it'll be interesting to see if a newcomer team can make a run."

This latest edition of the Gaelic Football World Championships features games from every group each day with no byes, something never seen before during group play in a GFWC. The teams will get one off day after group play if they qualify for the knockouts.

This edition is also being held again in Silvacometopia after some controversy surrounding host bidding that pushed the start date back a few weeks.

United Vietussia faces an easy group, but the real question now is how the playoffs will shape up early. From Hankow, I'm Jeb Ports.
