<>INAUGURAL QASDEN OPEN<> (Everything Thread)

Postby Qasden » Tue Jun 14, 2016 3:56 pm

Welcome one and all to the inaugural contest of the Qasden Open!

What is this?

The Qasden Open is an archery tournament held every so often at the Archery Fields outside of the Capital, T.V. City. Consisting of three rounds, the tournament will begin on July 9th and end around July 17th. Sign-Ups for this event start now and last until the 25th, which from there I will announce the groups the following day.

Why Archery?

Not as popular of an NS topic as association football, hockey or tennis, archery can be an extremely intense sport. It's about skill and style (mostly skill) and even a bit of risk pending on the weather. With the Open, I wish to increase the sport's popularity in NS Sports outside of the Olympics.

Where can I sign up?

Please fill out this small list of requirements and your entry shall be accepted (Unless any errors are spotted). Note that this event is not gender-specific and each nation may enter a maximum of 10 archers and a minimum of 2.

    Nation Name:
    Nation Trigram:

    10.
    Any Special Notes:

I will be using xkorinate to scorinate this event.

If you have any questions, please let me know as soon as possible. Otherwise, I wish you all good luck!

Questions, then, since you asked:
1) Are you sure you know what you're doing?
2) Have you scorinated anything before?
3) Can you explain 'cross your fingers that your entry is accepted' - is this not an open signup?
4) Why do you need a separate RP thread when for a small event like this your signup thread could easily be converted into a one-size-fits-all thread?
5) Why have you jumped straight into NS Sports through hosting, which is always discouraged?

Thanks.

Very well,
1. Through the teachings of another nation, I have gained the knowledge and incredibly sure I will be able to handle this event successfully.
2. This is the not only the inaugural tournament, but my first time scorinating such a large event. I have been messing around on xcorinate, creating random competitions with teams forged from my mind. I do believe this may assist in making the event a success and I look forward to hosting other events.
3. It's just a silly expression I used (My first drafts of the intro are never really that good). I'll edit it to clear things up :3
4. Fair point. I'm still a bit wobbly on my hosting legs, but I'll fix some stuff up to make this seem a bit more appealing (I suck at talking. Basically, this will become the everything thread. Sorry for future confusion)
5. I dearly apologize for entering in such a fashion. I have already entered into the Electrum Slam and Tobiasian Country Cup, and look forward to entering multiple other events. I'll make sure to study other RP's and fix my mistakes so that I am not too discouraged in the NS Sports world X3

Thank you for your questions, if I left out anything important, please let me know via reply or telegram.

Due to the contest's current fate, the sign-up stage will continue throughout next week and end on the 25th. The draw will follow the day after. If Open still left as is, it shall be postponed for a month or two. :meh:

Astonishing Results from Qasden Open
Basil Times

We are astonished to report that our archery delegation is... incredibly... leading the standings, as of the first round. The Swiss have been notoriously terrible at archery for 6000 years now, so the fact that our archers won the first round of any kind of archery competition is really something breathtaking. Even in legends, the Swiss were terrible archers.... folk hero "Telliam Will," was challenged to an archery competition back in antiquity, and infamously missed and shot his son through the face with an arrow. Tragic, really.

Harald Lu-Ondrejson and Janna Knutson both fired excellently to win their groups, with Freddy Winter coming in close second in the Ruby Group. Ladislaus, Thorsen, Cambyses, Kistner will also, astonishingly, all be moving on to the next round.

Says coach Jonah Nizzy regarding the teams performance, "Hey, what are you talking to me for? I didn't bribe anybody, I swear."

Chaos in Free Swiss States as Archers Fare Well in Tournament
Basil Times

Chaos erupted across the Free Swiss States as the Swiss archery delegation drew dangerously close to winning an international tournament. Riots and looting emerged in most of the major cities, as television pundits took to the news to decry the recent sporting results and the Chow Drones Index dropped an alarming 3000%. Says Jonah Nizzy, commisioner of the Swiss Dep. of Athletics, "The end times are near! Find your loved ones and pray for absolution. The Swiss archers will win something for once in their lives and the Apocalypse will happen."

The FSS performed admirably, qualifying four archers for the finals, in both #1 and #2 spots. The result could not be any worse in terms of the age-old "prophecy," which declares that the FSS will be destroyed by God's wrath on the day that a Swiss archer wins an international tournament. The prophecy, which has been in place for the last 6000 years, is the reason that any Swiss archer who showed any remote possibly of talent was either killed or convinced to take up gardening. With the final stages of the Qasden Open looming, it is possible that the FSS will be wiped off the face of the map, if either Cambyses, Ladislaus, Knutsson, or Kistner takes the gold. All we can do is hope that one of the other competitors outshoots our athletes when it matters most.

2 Medellin Tazano (QAD) 298 24 5
3 Grant Cambyses (FSS) 298 22 4

Congratulations to Yissakhar ben Melech and the Kingdom of Judea, your official Qasden Open champion(s)!

Oh yeah, and the national rankings, too.

1. Free Swiss States (FSS) - 65
2. Western Jarwel (FWJ) - 32
3. House of Judah (JUD) - 25
4. Qasden (QAD) -23

Congrats to Free Swiss States for taking first in the national rankings! Well done to Western Jarwel and Judea for silver and bronze performances.

Unfortunately for this competition, the Qasden Open will officially be on hiatus almost indefinitely, but we highly encourage competing countries and viewing countries reading this to consider signing up for the first ever NS Archery Cup, held in, well, whatever country wins hosting rights.

For now, this is all from the PFP Archery Fields, right here in the Principality of Qasden.
