a.k.a
The 58th Under-21 World Cup

Map of Valanora

Valanora Information
The most important thing to know about traveling through Valanora is that automobiles are banned except for government officials. A high tech railway system connects the entirety of the nation, with three international airports in Raynor City, Gladerial, and Baysleef. A ferry from Rinaldi travels to and from the island of Capri every hour on the hour. The most distinguishing feature of Valanora is the prevalent amount of forests standing in many of the inner half of the nation, even in cities, with the elven attempts to live in harmony with nature. Vanorians are a polite if not a bit high on themselves, believing elvenkind to be superior to humans, though they show a respect for the potential their humanoid cousins have.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This will be the sixth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in the Di Bradini Cup. Ever since the team finished third in Di Bradini 33, it has been a period of ups and downs for the team. First, Di Bradini 34, considered as Abanhfleft's best chance to have won some silverware, was mysteriously discontinued for unknown reasons. Then the team was knocked out in the group stages of Di Bradini 35 by Farfadillis, and then they were knocked out in the round of 16 of Di Bradini 36 by a Pasarga team that decided to show up at that exact game. Here's to hoping Di Bradini 37 goes better than those past tourneys...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-3-1-2 (This will be standard unless I change it through RPs)
Head coach: Celerino delos Reyes (60 y/o, Philippines)

STARTERS
GK: Ursula Qatintiki 21 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies FC Image, female
Qatintiki is a ferocious keeper who believes herself to be a good sweeper but unfortunately doesn't have all the necessary skills to be an actual sweeper keeper. The presence of an experienced back four in front of her could help her concede less in this tournament, but now that she's 21 herself, surely she needs more than just her back four to keep clean sheets. Qatintiki is rumored to be going out on loan to an undisclosed club.

RB: Horace Popov 19 y/o, Fortuna Novonikolaysk Image (Pridnestrovia) on loan from Dinamo Bender Image (Pridnestrovia), male
A member of the Fleftic under-21 team's backroom staff happened upon Popov while playing Championship Football Manager and noticed that the kid had high defensive potential. Popov is still a diamond in the rough, but some experience under the wing of Melisizwe Afolayan could see him become a potential star. Whether it's for his mother's homeland Abanhfleft or his birth country Pridnestrovia still remains to be seen, but for now, while he's still under the age of 21, he's Abanhfleft's man. With Afolayan now ineligible, it's up to Popov to make an impact that will keep him in a white shirt.

RCB: Terri Hartin 20 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies Image, female
Hartin once served as backup to Melisizwe Afolayan, but now that Kristin Pittmann is ineligible for the under-21 team due to her age, Hartin has been placed in a right-center back role due to other player options not being deemed match ready by delos Reyes. She did well in a position that she's a little uncomfortable with, but her defensive liabilities were properly exploited by Pasarga during their round of 16 matchup. But after some time in the middle of the pitch, it is hoped that Hartin has finally learned to cope with being a center back..

LCB: Ainsley Gibson 20 y/o, Submarine Yeralenko Image, male, captain
Gibson has large shoes to fill in following the graduation of Rory Edwards to the senior team and Celerino delos Reyes' decision to give the captain's armband to Gibson. Perhaps delos Reyes would have been better off if he had given the armband to Cedric Pearson or Joe Warren, but after Gibson's commanding performance as captain of the under-18s, Owen Bevan would have none of it. Gibson is a speedy center-back, which used to serve as the perfect foil to Kristin Pittmann's rock-solid presence on the pitch, but with Pittmann now ineligible, he's had to work hard to limit his attacking runs, especially now that this tendency of his was exploited by Pasarga in that fateful round of 16 matchup.

LB: Lemuel Fuller 21 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image, male
The pure left-back provided excellent cover for Ainsley Gibson when the latter was injured in the semifinals of the Sporting World Cup, but playing out of position in the final made him uncomfortable and was probably one of the many factors leading to the 5-2 loss against Semarland in the final. But now that he is back in his favored and natural position, Fuller will look to tear up any attacks coming his way. But he still happened to be on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline, this time against Pasarga in the round of 16 of the last Di Bradini.

RDM: DeAngelo Levin 20 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image on loan from Ludogorets Markovsky Image, male
Nothing much was seen of Levin during the Sporting World Cup, but we'll finally get to see a lot of him in this tournament since he's stepping into the right defensive midfield role once occupied by Cedric Pearson, who's now too old to be part of the under-21 squad. Still nothing much else noteworthy to report about him, although it looks like he could be loaned out to an Unang Liga team in the January transfer window. He was indeed loaned out to Thereisnogodistan FC, and it looked as if he was one of the deciding factors in getting them up to the Premier League.

CDM: Luĉjo Miĥaelo Kleinmann 19 y/o, Malabon SC (first team) Image, male, vice-captain
Kleinmann is finally in the starting eleven of the Fleftic under-21 team, much to the relief of Malabon SC fanboys as well as Kleinmann fanboys. Everyone knows how good he is as a central defensive mid, and now he has proven that he can do it on a regular basis after finally earning the starting spot that the now-ineligible Joe Warren once occupied. Well, except for the fact that he was completely and utterly shit in the big game against Pasarga. Is he really as good as people think he is, or is he just another hyped-up talent who can't perform in the big games?

LDM: Billy Bolin 21 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image on loan from Miroz Old Boys Image, male
Some good appearances for the Unang Liga side with the slightly misleading name of Miroz Old Boys (whose team's average age is just a little lower than their rivals-by-name Gyouza Young Lads) have earned him a call-up with the under-21s. Apparently he's now the best option in the left midfield now that some of the other players in his position are now ineligible for the under-21 team. Loaned out to Ikatlong Liga's Duhblakk Rovers. (Note: The Ikatlong Liga is the Fleftic equivalent of England's Football League Two.)

CAM: Mabel Finnemark 21 y/o, Cornellians FC Image, female
Finnemark broke into the Fleftic national team setup following her great performances during the Sporting World Cup which led to the Fleftic sporting media calling her "the next Allison Torres" and "the female Rory Edwards" due to her performances as central attacking midfielder for the Fleftics. Like many Fleftic CAMs, most attacks are routed through Finnemark on their way to either forward, but sometimes she can also play a false 9 by wreaking havoc on the opponents' back line and scoring goals, just like a lot of Fleftic natural CAMs. There is no way but up for Finnemark, but sometimes her success gets into her head and she may need to be taken down a notch. Or two.

RS: Kareem Dagen 18 y/o, Eikborg Club Image, male
Dagen can be described as the breakout player of the Sporting World Cup, scoring 10 goals and leading Abanhfleft to second place in the aforementioned tournament. His amazing performance as a striker led to his signing by Eikborg Club, a Semarlandish club competing in the Globe Cup, making him the first ever Fleftic player to sign for a foreign league other than Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum. Dagen's quality performance in the Sporting World Cup also earned him a starting spot in the Fleftic under-21s, over the likes of Garrett Krantz and Irina Babarushchik. Now he's starting because those other players are now ineligible as well.

LS: Annamarie Sabado 18 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image, female
Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the under-21 squad by Celerino delos Reyes, the Filipino might be looking to do the same, this time in the Di Bradini Cup.

RESERVES (All players are members of their league team's youth squads unless otherwise noted)
GK: Orestes Katsouranis III 19 y/o, Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Image on loan from Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image, male
The son of Marinos Thimpodopoulos manager Orestes Katsouranis Jr., Orestes III's inclusion into both the Marinos and Fleftic under-21s squad may seem like nepotism, but his shining performances for the Marinos U-21s in the Professional Development League (Men's Division) (keeping fifteen clean sheets on the way to a second-place finish in the league) have proven that he has what it takes to represent the Democratic Republic. But whether he can displace Ursula Qatintiki in between the sticks is still up to debate. EDIT: There is no more debate, as Qatintiki is clearly better than Orestes III, at least right now.

GK: Brook Arzate 17 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image, male
Yet another Marinos player carried over from the under-18 squad, Arzate has barely played any games, both for his club and his country, and his chances of starting in this tournament are equally slim. However, this is a good opportunity for him to learn international quality football, so it's not all lose-lose for him.

DF: Eileen Onyu 18 y/o, West Releinthi City Ladies Image, female
First of all, enough of the punny name jokes. Second, Catarina Soler has finally turned 22 after a million years, allowing someone else to occupy the bench spot that the budding Air Force sergeant had made her own for the last sixty gazillion years. But whereas Soler was confident with her ability and saw no need to improve upon herself, Onyu knows that she's got a lot to learn before she can even challenge for a starting spot. But a bench spot is good enough for her, and she's got the likes of Ainsley Gibson to learn the tools of the trade.

DF: Colleen Adams 19 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Ladies Image, female
The first and perhaps only "true unknown" in the current squad, this is the first time that Adams has been called up to represent Abanhfleft, and whether she will get to represent the blue, orange and green in this Di Bradini Cup still remains to be seen. One year later and no one still knows what she can do for the team. Maybe it's moral support from the bench? No one knows.

DF: Miranda Sullins 17 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Ladies Image, female
An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LCB: Georgine Baum 13 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image, female
Another player with foreign roots playing for the Democratic Republic. This time, Georgine's parents are immigrants, or rather expats, from Pridnestrovia, who escaped the country after her father said a few things that were not to President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanenko's liking. Georgine is more than likely to play for Abanhfleft in the future, but stranger things have happened. Arkadia Zubarenko did end up playing for Pridnestrovia after years in Abanhfleft's youth teams. Somehow, despite being just thirteen, she's already in the under-21 team. Thankfully, she's just on the bench right now.

MF: Lashaunda Datta 17 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image, female
The product of Haranguer's burgeoning mixed-gender youth academy, Datta has the potential to be a real world-class defensive midfielder. If only she could realize that and stop being too much of a defender or too much of an attacker. Hopefully some time watching recognized international DMs could set her head straight.

MF: Jeanine Stober 20 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image, female
Has the potential to be a real ball distributor, if only she could turn her two left feet into a proper pair with a right foot and a left foot.

MF: Marietta Toksvig 20 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image, female
Many questioned Toksvig's addition to the squad starting from the ill-fated Di Bradini 34 campaign, but once she hit the ground running in the Sporting World Cup, she has certainly proved her worth, both to Celerino delos Reyes and to Godric Wexler. Rumors are that she will get a number of games as a substitute and, depending on Abanhfleft's situation in the tournament, could even get a start or two.

LCM: Cecily Segovia 14 y/o, Ladies of Santos FC Image (Oontaz Dert Li Ng), female
CeCe is the foil to Trinidad Kleist's hard-hitting CDM. The Oontaz-born central midfielder is the creative outlet for the midfield, setting up passes and long balls to initiate the attack. But that doesn't mean she shirks from her defensive responsibilities. Still, like Trinnie, CeCe is still a bit enthusiastic with the sliding tackles and will get her name on the referee's notebook a fair few times. Another member of the second-place under-15 team from Schottia who got an inclusion into the under-21 team.

FW: Claudia Roos 14 y/o, Dinamo Bender Women Image (Pridnestrovia), female
Claudia is the player on the under-15 team who is most likely to end up representing another nation once she hits the senior level. Abanhfleft is enjoying Claudia's services while she's still with the team, as she is already turning into a future star winger, what with her pace, crossing ability, and incisive runs into the box. Pridnestrovia will come knocking for her, and the SFA knows it, but while she's still playing for the blue, orange, and green, Claudia is Abanhfleft's best under-15 player, and because of that, she merits a spot on the bench of the under-21s.

FW: Arkady "Arlie" Rozier 14 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia), male
Another Pridnestrovian player born in Abanhfleft who looks like he could be poached by the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States. Arlie has serviceable hold-up play but questionable finishing and ball distribution skills. He's also a bit selfish, preferring to shoot the ball himself even if there is a teammate in a better scoring position. But he's just 14 years old. Surely he can learn how to improve himself and his technique, right? Right?

FW: Margarita Stephenson 18 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Ladies Image, female
One of the best penalty, free kick and corner kick takers. Unfortunately just about shite in everything else. A bench spot and training camp with international quality strikers could hopefully help her improve. Apparently not, as even she is bottom in the list of forwards which includes two 14-year-olds!

Tumbran U-21 National Football Team
The Junior Blues
Image

Formation:
4-3-3 with Left Wing/Right Wing

First 11

GK - Alexander Hudson (17 y/o, Goldlion Arsenal)

Tipped as the future guardian of the goalposts of the National Team, Hudson is the Arsenal's third choice goalkeeper. He didn't play much throughout the Arsenal's title winning campaign, but when he played for the reserves he showed real potential, making some world-class saves. He is a bit error prone, however, and is easily unnerved.

LB - Thomas Krabb (15 y/o, Connaught FC)

Krabb is by far the youngest on this team, and when he was announced to be in the starting XI, beating Ivan Elliot no less, it took many people by surprise. While still part of Connaught's U18 squad, he has already signed a pre-contract with the team and will be joining them on his sixteenth birthday. However, he's still relatively new and a bit clumsy on the ball but is a master at clearing balls upfield.

CB - Joel Tyler (18 y/o, Thurmond City)

Tyler is one member of Thurmond City's youth academy that could very well make it into the first-team ranks of the City team if he plays his cards right here. A speedy and technical defender, Tyler's passing ability and vision might be a bit off but his ball control is exquisite.

CB - Gale Hartwidge (19 y/o, Mosjoen XI)

Hartwidge, while having been considered for a spot on the team, was a relative outsider and really only entered serious contention once the XI were promoted to the Tumbran Premiership. Having been raised in the Lackland highlands, Hartwidge is an extremely physical player who always seems to tackle fairly. He does have a bit of a temper but normally manages to keep it under restraint.

RB - Sebastian Lawrence (18 y/o, Thurmond United)

The Thurmond United academy is extremely famous for producing extremely talented footballers that waste their career in the reserves and are shipped off to some lower league team once their contract is up - but that is not what has happened in Lawrence's (or Lawro as the fans call him) case. Lawro has proved the exception in United's dismal season - he managed to drag the team all the way to a Globe Cup spot through his superb defending. Slow as he is, Lawro has a massive physical bulk and will use that to any ability.

CM - Kyle Sanders (17 y/o, Waterford City)

Sanders is the only player in this team to hail from Sofan - and he plays like a Sofanese footballer, being fast and light on the ball, with not-so-great vision, and yet is still only 17. He could be in the senior Tumbran team in times to come, but those days are still far off.

CM - John Rhys-Stevens (20 y/o, Merton FC) - Captain

Rhys-Stevens is the neighbourhood defensive, ball-playing midfielder - strong physically and yet not so strong technically. With what seems to be two left feet, Rhys-Stevens' mature mentality does help him with that, but he needs to be able to get over his ball control weaknesses if he is to progress to the next level.

CM - Stephen Atkins (18 y/o, Goldlion Arsenal)

Another player from the Arsenal, Atkins played in seven matches during their title-winning campaign and was admittedly rather average during those seven matches. However, when he played for the U21 team, he showed flashes of brilliance not seen when he played with the senior team, which begs the question of whether he's being wheeled into the first team too early. An excellent passer and chance-creator, often playing as a raumdeuter - someone who looks for space in the opponents line and exploits it. While his finishing is lacking, the other attributes of his makes him a key player for the team.

LW - Almar Hussein (18 y/o, Connaught FC)

Aerial Almar, as the fans call young Almar Hussein, is the aerial king of the Tumbran team. Able to head almost any ball that comes his way, Hussein is one of a new breed of Tumbrans that are highly regarded as the future of Tumbran football. Excellent ball control makes him a very technical footballer. His long passing could be better, but apart from that he's generally considered an alright footballer for his age.

ST - Tristan Hale (18 y/o, Thurmond United)

The Hale name is widely revered in Tumbran football, and for good reason. Stephen Hale, Tristan Hale's father, was a prolific striker back in the 1990s, and since he was young, Tristan has been trained to be the striker that could lead the front line of Tumbra's offense in the future - and is already showing flashed of his father's technical skills. He is still rather slow, however, and his positioning isn't the best either, but Hale's powerful finishing ability is said to rival even that of his father's.

RW - Edward Richardson (19 y/o, Thurmond City)

Richardson is one of the more controversial players to take part in this campaign. Accusations of him diving to gain an unfair advantage have surfaced, most notably from his detractors. While fast and able to deliver stunning crosses into the box, he's not much else. His teammates and manager have defended him, saying that he is just unstable on the ball.

Subs + Reserves

GK - Andrew Carr (19 y/o, Fayborough United)

Control of the area is what Carr specialises at, and even if he is called bossy from time to time, there is no denying that Carr is an excellent shot-stopper. Why he is not the first-choice goalkeeper is anyone's guess, though there have been rumours of a potential rift between Stoff and Carr.

GK - John Byrne (17 y/o, Chalk Wharf)

Byrne is a product of the Chalk Wharf academy - another academy famous for shipping out players year after year to lower league clubs without the chance to ever don the Chalkers' jersey. This is his chance to make his name on the stage - if he could only get some playtime. The set-piece stopper has potential, but he isn't getting playtime at his club and isn't likely to get any here.

LB - Ivan Elliot (18 y/o, Humoor Eagles)

Elliot had a superb debut season for the Eagles in his left-back position, and his reward is a place on the team. While rumours persist that he is moving to Connaught FC (as all semi-decent Humoor Eagles players seem to do), Elliot is determined not to let that get him down.

CB - Harrison Lee (17 y/o, Connaught FC)

Harrison Lee hails from the neighbouring town of Thurmond, but was poached by Connaught FC's scouts to join their very reputable youth system. Already extremely mature, Harrison is the speediest player on the team, but not much else.

CB - Charlie Lester (18 y/o, Newport United FC)

What a horrendous season it has been for Newport United FC - they went through four managers and still managed to end the season managerless and on the way to the Second Division. Newport born-and-bread Lester is staying on with the Lack-Whis (Black-Whites) for now, but rumours continue to persist that Lester will be released from his contract due to downsizing of the club. A jack-of-all-trades, his defending skills are average but one thing that he is excellent at is heading.

CB - Quentin Gardner (18 y/o, Humboldt Albion)

Gardner is a limited defender - one that passes balls on to the next level of the playing field, the midfield. Preferring short passes to long passes, Gardner is good at what he does, but he is not very versatile. Lack of physicality also hurts him.

RM - John Sangford (19 y/o, West Langham)

Sangford was a virtual unknown to all but the most dedicated West Langham fan - only rising to prominence after scoring a brace in a regelation six-pointer a few years back, saving West Langham from relegation. Since then, Sangford has only looked up, being an adept player wherever he plays - on the wings or in the middle. He is not very fast, and his crosses leave something to be desired.

LM - Lewis Holt (17 y/o, Metz FC)

Lewis has already made a name for himself as the cleanest player in the entire Premiership, and that is surprising because Holt is supposed to be a left defensive midfielder, one that normally picks up a lot of bookings. The mercurial striker is rapidly rising up the ranks of the Metz FC playing order, and is on course to be a first team starter come next year - which is amazing for a player merely seventeen years old. Fast, his one shortcoming is that he cannot kick the ball high.

CAM - Nathaniel Hodsgon (19 y/o, Humoor Eagles)

Son of famous footballer Henry Hodsgon, Nathaniel is struggling to break out of his father's shadow. Nathaniel and Henry share the same attributes - both are excellent at heading, both enjoy (or enjoyed) playing as trequartistas, and both aren't very fast. Nat will spend the entirety of this campaign attempting to create his own identity, and not just "Henry Hodsgon's son".

CDM - Frankie Valentino (18 y/o, Chalk Wharf)

Valentino is one of the Wharf academy players that actually managed to make it into the first team of Chalk Wharf FC, but has been sidelined throughout the campaign with injuries. When he did play, however, he was excellent and managed to get the Man of the Match award two times of the six that he started, and being Chalk Wharf's highest rated player on five of those six occasions. Slow yet physical, Valentino seems to fit right into the "hard man" image that was cultivated in the 1980s by Alex Curtin and more recently Robert Byrd.

CM - Bennie Dalton (17 y/o, Rothes Rovers)

Dalton is one of the few box-to-box midfielders in the Premiership, or all four levels of the Tumbran football ladder at that. Extremely physically fit, Dalton's stamina seems to be superhuman, yet when his energy level drops off, his footballing skills drastically decrease as well. Heading is not his strong suit, but his vision is extraordinary.

ST - Oliver Ganson (16 y/o, Ilcaster Town)

Oliver Ganson was the surprise addition to the team, with him not even being on many bookies' lists to be included in the final team. Ganson hails from Ilcaster, a Northern industrial city that formerly contributed to Tumbra's burgeoning steel industry. Fast forward fifty years, the steel mills are closed and yet Ilcaster is one of the poorest cities in Tumbra. Ganson joined his hometown club and rumour has it he was only picked because Robin Stoff went to a Fourth Division match and saw Ganson in action. Passed over for Ganson was Jonathan Hughes, who is reportedly extremely jealous. Because not a lot of people pay attention to Fourth Division matches, Ganson is a complete unknown, but supporters of Ilcaster will say that Ganson is one of the best talents the club have ever nurtured. Certainly not one to be underestimated, if Stoff ranks him above Ganson.

Staff:
U21 Coach: Robin Stoff (2006-date)

Stoff's ten years in the job have made him the longest-serving manager in the Tumbran FA hireachy by far. While normally a bit apprehensive to experiment with what works (the formation in this cup is the same of that in the DBC 31 - the first cup Tumbra took part in), that approach has seen him last for ten years. Having recently signed a contract extension, Stoff looks safe in his job and looks set to continue in it for the forseeable future.

Two years after the last tournament, Brown has made 21 changes to the side retaining only two eligible players and handing many their U21 debut as Semarland seek to win the tournament for the first side. Several of the successful U18 World Cup winning team are included plus many players that have already gone on to make their first team debuts.

GOALKEEPERS:
#1 - GK - Nathan Musendo - Age 20 - Northern Union (BRE)
#12 - GK - Jorgen Lovenkrands - Age 20 - Eikborg Club
#22 - GK - Nathan Baxter - Age 19 - Fransborg set Njilkaer
Perhaps surprisingly, Martin Valbuena was not named in the squad despite already being involved in a training camp with the senior team. Manager Rene Brown has elected to call up three other goalkeepers instead, in Nathan Musendo, who was second choice to Valbuena in Semarland's U18 World Cup triumph and has now moved to Northern Union in Brenecia; Jorgen Lovenkrands who has had a stellar last couple of seasons with Eikborg Club having made his first team debut; and Fransborg's Nathan Baxter who has long been tipped to be their new number one. All three are strong, solid goalkeepers but all are yet to have any senior involvement. However, should they showcase their abilities well enough this time they may well be involved in Andreas Jansen's future plans.

DEFENDERS:
#2 - DR - Valentin Modise - Age 19 - Kangemark Sport
#3 - DL - Djair Claro-Hunt - Age 18 - Hastmead Diamante (OSR)
#4 - DC - Kwame Lindberg - Age 20 - Krsthaven
#5 - DC - Emmanuel Awuah - Age 20 - 1830 Cathair (AUD)
#13 - DC - Junde Toonga - Age 19 - FC Jansberg
#19 - DR - Mathias Courts - Age 19 - FC Nuholm
#21 - DL - Marc Kanu - Age 18 - FC Kolberg
Left back Djair Claro-Hunt is one of only two players from the previous squad to be retained despite several others being eligible, including goalkeeper Dbuzu Bakambu, defenders Nathaniel Simeone and Saido Diallo and striker Kwame Nelson, who we all know is part of the senior team now. He is backed up by FC Kolberg's Marc Kanu, whilst Valentin Modise and Mathias Courts (who both have over 20 first team appearances to their name) competing on the other flank. In the centre of defence, Brown has the choice of either Krsthaven's Kwame Lindberg, 1830 Cathair's Emmanuel Awuah or FC Jansberg's Junde Toonga, with Kanu and Modise able to fill in the centre if needed.

MIDFIELDERS:
#6 - DMC - Bennik Hreidarsson - Age 20 - International of Tyrellia (LGL)
#7 - ML - Marcel Mbonne - Age 19 - Krsthaven
#8 - MC - Adlai Ykugu - Age 20 - Cenial Liberty (CEN)
#11 - MR - Nathaniel Mavila - Age 19 - FC Nuholm
#14 - MC - Emmanuel Ansah-Adaye - Age 19 - Lylat Starfox (NSI)
#15 - AMC - Eric Nti-Bonso - Age 19 - Eikborg Club
#20 - MC - Mobiri Mkutu-Masansi - Age 18 - FC Jansberg
#23 - MC - Kwabena Ikpeazu - Age 18 - Sporting Saint Adrensburg
Only two wingers are included in Brown's squad with both Marcel Mbonne and Nathaniel Mavila having prior first team appearance - the latter a regular for FC Nuholm last season. Defensive midfielder Bennik Hreidarsson finally makes the squad after moving from Audioslavia to Legalese, with the talented defensive midfielder slightly off the radar considering he plays abroad. Attacking midfielder Eric Nti-Bonso has had another impressive season with Eikborg whilst Mobiri Mkutu-Masansi and Kwabena Ikpeazu are the younger two of the four central midfielders, with Adlai Ykugu and Emmanuel Ansah-Adaye both earning moves abroad.

FORWARDS:
#9 - ST - Leon Kadamu - Age 20 - FC Kolberg
#10 - ST - Soren Sakho - Age 19 - Lexington Victory (CEN)
#16 - ST - Malakhai Songa-Mbiru - Age 19 - FC Nuholm
#17 - ST - Orick Kasangi - Age 18 - Sporting Matrolvik
#18 - ST - Idris Albridge - Age 20 - Shanak FC (OSR)
Five strikers are included this time compared to last edition's four. Leon Kadamu is handed the number 9 shirt after a successful season with FC Kolberg, coming back strongly after his surprise release from Sporting Saint Adrensburg to score a few goals for Kolberg's first team. Soren Sakho, who moved to Cenian side Lexington Victory two years ago, is also included as well as 20 year old Idris Albridge (another one who SSA let go) who now plies his trade with Osarian side Shanak. Joining them are Malakhai Songa-Mbiru of FC Nuholm and the youth-level prolific Orick Kasangi of Sporting Matrolvik, who scored four times in twelve games last season for the club's first team.

CENIAN ROSTER FOR DI BRADINI CUP 37 >>>

OVERALL INFORMATION >>>
Ceni's senior team has consistently gained the reputation of being a very attacking side - send the ball up the field and try to score on it. However, during the World Cup qualifying campaign, this strategy - which emphasized heading up to the goal, no matter what the cost - proved to be Ceni's undoing as lesser-rated sides took advantage of overextensions and lack of credible threats in the midfield. In the 35th Di Bradini Cup, Manager Corran Artis decided to, instead, look into developing more competent midfielders and defenders on the youth side of the coin in order to rectify this glaring problem. Indeed, during training camp, Artis urged his team to be smart about their attacking play - go when there is an opportunity, not just when they have the ball. He realized that opportunistic play would be the best way for Ceni's football to further develop, and he has taken that ideal to heart when training Ceni's first ever Di Bradini Cup team and selecting their formation. Many football observers have noted that it was among Ceni's best crop of youngsters, with several young and emerging talents present on this team. Because these players know each other - and, indeed, have played with each other, as part of the Pinnacle Project - they have developed strong bonds of friendship and teamwork. The Cenian Football Federation hoped that the combination of the talent and Artis's innovative football strategy would produce a good run for Ceni's team at the Di Bradini Cup. They did have a good run, with Kira Koromin declared the best player of the tournament as the Cenian team reached the finals, losing to fierce rivals Cosumar.

Artis, however, was forced to retire from his post due to health issues, and the Cenian Football Federation, in keeping with their new adoption of the System Takil principles, appointed a new manager to head up the Cenian Di Bradini Cup team: Peter Petrossian, a Cenian of Armenian descent, who was one of the initial promulgators of that principle within the CFF itself. He takes to the team an aggressive strategy that tries to pressure the opponents and allows the team to convert off even the slightest of opportunities. He has also selected a fairly flexible 3-2-2-3 formation for this tournament, with the midfield able to easily convert from offense to defense. Despite playing down the importance of the defense, Petrossian has focused his efforts on the midfield as well as the forwards, believing that any success must come from the midfield; strikers can't create chances without help from the midfield, he believes.

GOALKEEPERS
Juan Pablo Morales GK (18) Image Viento Oeste
Juan Pablo Morales is Ceni's most promising young goalkeeper. Playing with the Cenian side Viento Oeste, he won the Cenileague Golden Gloves his first season at age 17, and third place this past season. He has good reflexes and has good saves; the most important part about his performance, though, is his ability to coordinate the defense so that they don't concede as many goals. It's a great accomplishment to be a good goalkeeper in the Cenian league, especially because it it so high scoring and aggressive. If Morales has some good experience with the Cenileague, then he has good potential to do well internationally as well.

Laura Oannes GK (21) Image University of Cenial
Laura Oannes has shown some good progress with the University of Cenial's university team, having some excellent saves, made possible by her tracking of the ball, good reflexes, and excellent knowledge of the minds of strikers, some of that made possible by her psychology major in college. This knowledge of psychology should help her to further develop her career as a goalkeeper, and reportedly, a Gelderlish side has its eye on her for the next season, depending on her performance during the next year. If she can survive as a goalkeeper in Ceni's high-scoring league, she can probably survive anywhere.

Lucas d'Jek GK (18) Image Whitehaven Triumph
Lucas d'Jek held up the Whitehaven Triumph side that has done very well in the Cenileague 2; he did well supporting the very agressive side at the goal.

DEFENDERS >>>
Chiara Kavos LB (19) Image Pinnacle Project
Chiara Kavos, while suffering from several drawbacks that plague the Cenian defense, manages to work together with her teammates to find the best place to put the ball. She coordinates well with her teammates to stifle any offense trying to move into the Cenian zone, and has a strong clearing motion, and a strong pass, to make full use of her coordination abilities. She always tried to keep her eye on the ball and make sure that the opposition doesn't get close enough to the goal. Besides her coordination skills, she's pretty agile and fast with her feet to make sure that the opposition is dispossessed.

Liam Lorechian CB (19) Image Polaris
Liam Lorechian has a balanced style of play and excels at agility, man-to-man marking, and dispossession, and he relishes the chance to take the ball into the midfield. He tends to go up to advance the ball - so he can also play in the defensive midfield a bit because of this propensity. Although this can make his defense a bit leaky, it works well to move the ball back up the field and get the ball back in play from any failed defensive attempts. Most importantly, Lorechian is good with is feet and is quite speedy around the field to get to wherever the ball is so he can defend.

Nick Torabi RB (19) Image Polaris
Of Persian descent, Torabi immigrated to Ceni with his family when he was 12 after learning to play football on the streets of his native country. Torabi excels at marking and manager Artis’s new zonal defense, as well as providing a credible passing option for the center when it has successfully dispossessed the offense of the ball. Pinnacle Project has chosen to start Torabi this season due to his excellent agility with his feet and the ball as well as his overall strong build, which should make him a credible threat to any offensive-minded player wishing to score. When Polaris was bought by a Guayabalense oil tycoon, they had some money to spend on a quality defender, but they chose a homegrown talent, Torabi, instead, recognizing his talent.

Andar Nyilas LB (17) Image Whitehaven Triumph
Miri Windtide CB (17) Image Whitehaven Triumph
Astara Khan RB (19) Image Pinnacle Project

Astara Khan, a Pakistani daughter of a construction worker and a nanny, found herself playing football with her friends on the street while her parents were busy at work to pass the time, finding herself adept at football, especially the defense. Miri Windtide has been tapped as the new Kaia Travaran of Cenian football, referring to the Cenian national team captain who has been a stalwart of the national team, holding up the defense, both on the pitch and morally, but she'll have to wait for her turn on this DBC squad as some of the older players have the opportunity to play. Andar Nylias is good friends with fellow Whitehaven Triumph player Jack Szarvas, seeing as they both grew up in the Hungarian section of Ceni.

MIDFIELDERS >>>
Tomás Fierro (C) AM (21) Image New Belfast Warriors
After Sunrisian club Ninon Beart was promoted from that league's second division, they immediately turned to Tomás Fierro, one of Pinnacle Project's top players, and Fierro was only too happy to accept after playing a season in Racao, where he proved to be one of the league's best midfielders. The club had two topsy-turvy seasons, and he chose to transfer to Schottic side New Belfast Warriors. Fierro excels in the "build-up" plays of the midfield, working to both get the ball away from possible defense interference and to set up excellent goalscoring opportunities with his good passes and other ball-handling skills. Fierro, additionally, has good pace and the ability to read the ball's trajectory well.

Jasper Valaran MF (19) Image Lammerton
Jasper Valaran has continued to develop his box-to-box style of play in the midfield, excelling at both defensive and offensive aspects throughout his career, but he has really grown into his role as a playmaker in the midfield for 1860 Azoth, and he was instrumental in winning the Cenileague title for his club, providing many crucial passes, which picked him up after a good season at Pinnacle Project in which he scored over a dozen goals and was easily their top goalscorer. Lammerton then bidded on him, and Valaran was more than happy to ply his trade in the nascent Schottic league.

Sendoa AM (18) Image Kings Park
Sendoa, from the Basque side of Nova Ascea, is one of the few Cenian players ever to only take one name - but it is a very memorable name, meaning strength in the Basque language. He is a strong player, with lots of stamina and strength to keep him through long, gurelling football games. He debuted for Myrmidon two seasons ago and made an impact, scoring about a dozen goals before transferring to the inevitable home of all good Cenian midfielders, Schottia, where he helped his club to improve in its previous performances. He is more of an attacker and a scorer than a playmaker, and he possesses great ball-striking instincts.

Petro Valles DM (19) Image Rosaria United
Petro Valles - one of the several excellent midfielders from Ceni's north side, in this case from the city of Nova Ascea - excels as more of a holding midfielder, and he does well to prevent opponents' attacking moves and regain the momentum for Ceni's offense. Valles works well with friend Tomás Fierro, and they complement each other's abilities. This makes them easily able to switch from offense to defense together in a quick manner, and quickly exploit any shift in momentum to Ceni's advantage. As such, Valles has a good grasp on short, simple passes to playmaker Valaran or more offensive-minded midfielder Fierro.

Jack Szarvas AM (17) Image Whitehaven Triumph

It seems like the Cenian efforts to build up the midfield have paid off, and Petrossian was faced with many tough choices when choosing his roster for this crucial area of the pitch. Julian del Olmo, part of the famous del Olmo clan, has featured in Pinnacle Project's starting eleven for the last few seasons, proving instrumental in the defense. Martin d'Orazio, of Valladar descent, has assisted del Olmo in the defensive midfield a lot in his career at Pinnacle Project, and the two work well together. Voren Reth prefers the attacking side of the midfield, and he excels at exploiting offensive opportunities and getting the ball to the offensive side of the pitch, including his friend and teammate Tyro Solaris in the striking zone. Reth has a good tactical and strategic grasp as well, some gained from his studies of Military History in college (he is a history major). Meanwhile, Charles Allegro and Jack Szarvas (of Swiss and Hungarian descent, respectively) proved instrumental in Whitehaven Triumph's promotion to Cenileague 1 and their excellent performance in the Series B Champions Cup, where the team reached the Round of 16 and sharpened their experience playing international football.

FORWARDS
Andrew Arrowsword ST (16) Image Real Azuris
Andrew Arrowsword might be the best Cenian striker since the Koromin siblings - at the tender age of 16, no less. Last year in the Terranean League, he took Club 24, a struggling club in the Terranean League battling to stay in the top season, and made it into a force to be reckoned with; it placed well above the relegation zone, thanks to his help, and he scored 32 goals along the way - becoming the Terranean League's top striker. Several international clubs bid for him, but eventually, Arrowsword chose to play football at Real Azuris, Cosumar's league champions. He has an excellent eye for the ball, and has one of the calmest, most collected finishes in international football. This wunderkind is speedy, shoots well with both feet, has great power and accuracy, and dribbles and passes well. He has the potential to be the next Cenian star at the international level - especially if the team does well at this DBC.

Nico Asturias ST (20) Image Cenial United
Another one of Ceni's top players to come out of the Hispanic north and Pinnacle Project, Nico Asturias could have been one of Ceni's top young strikers had he come out at a better time - unfortunately, Kira Koromin and Javier del Olmo have outshone this rising star. However, Asturias has a number of good qualities that should help the Di Bradini Cup team: he is a fast player with good agility, good penalty skills, and good shooting skills with both feet. These qualities earned him a transfer to Recuecn’s side Heldingen last transfer window, and he starred in that season, leading them to the first place position before the league disintegrated. He then moved to Cenial United, where he honed his ball-striking skills, scoring 32 goals in Cenileague, which earned him the Golden Boot award.

Tyro Solaris ST (20) Image Sporting Cenial
Tyro Solaris, who studied architecture at the University of New Oxford before moving to graduate studies at the University of Centralis (and juggling regular first team football with Centralis Heart, no less), has been tagged as one of Ceni's brightest young strikers. Intelligent, clear-headed, and decisive with the ball, Solaris also possesses excellent stamina and fitness. However, Solaris tends to make some mistakes because of his relative inexperience. He scored around fifteen goals each season with Centralis Heart, learning much from the wisdom of the elder Electrumite player Alexander Krane in his first season. He then moved to Sporting Cenial, which was in desperate need of a reinvigoration of their striking capabilities - and he provides a new, fresh face and an intelligent playing strategy that should serve them well.

Aiden Denarian ST/LW (18) Image Whitehaven Triumph
Ben Lorennion ST/RW (18) Image Whitehaven Triumph
Auren Brahe-Antilles ST/RW (19) Image Longtails

Auren Brahe-Antilles outshone his peers at Pinnacle Project training, and Cenian side Longtails picked him up after the departure of one of their better players Kristoffer; it proved to be a wise choice, as he was instrumental in his club's success. Aiden Denarian and Ben Lorennion both played crucial roles in Whitehaven Triumph's excellent SBCC campaign internationall, and lead the club's offense domestically as well, with a lot of success; they both create a lot of chances, and convert those received from Allegro and Szarvas well.

Cosumar U21 National Team - Di Bradini Cup 37

Image

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, comprised of 21 fiefs that act as provinces. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy with King James II as its head. The tenets of complete civil rights, protecting nature, advancing knowledge, and exploring outer space are held dear.

Region: Atlantian Oceania

Nickname: Vanquishers

Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, Navy, White

Stadium: The Royal Palace (capacity 54,000) in Ramusok

Team: The roster consists of 23 players, 21 of whom are standard human (homo sapiens). The other two are Vloo (homo cosumarensis), a sentient species native to Cosumar. Vloo are humanoid and average two inches taller, with pale blue skin and a pair of horns atop their head. The range of athleticism in Vloo is similar to that of humans. You can recognize which players are Vloo by their surnames: which usually begin with the prefixes Na'- or Va'-. In the image of Gethin Ramsey's senior side that recently went to the World Cup Quarterfinals, Johannes Sulo's squad plays a balanced game, using high pressure to force mistakes and capitalizing on them with quick, up-tempo passing. This generation of young Cosumarite talent includes players already featuring in leagues around the world including LigAnaia, Valanora, Pasarga and Sunrise Islands in addition to our own. After defeating Ceni to win Di Bradini Cup 35, the Cosumarite youth will now seek to return to youth football's grandest stage.

Donning the uniform of the senior National Team is a prestigious honor (one that must be earned), so our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U21 team wears the old NT kits that were used in World Cup 70 and decommissioned prior to World Cup 71. Courtesy of Meski Sports. The home (left) and away (middle) kits feature the colours of the Cosumarite flag as well as the iconic Azure Dragon that resides in Cosumar's northeastern forests. The goalkeeper kit (right) is swathed in green and gold - the colours of the royal family.

AZREAN U21's - DI BRADINI CUP 37

Image

Image Image

Team Summary
Azrea's first DI Bradini Cup features some of the brightest football talents of the U21 level from across the nation. The biggest football clubs in Greenville, Larston, and Minford have supplied national team coach Steven Clarkson with promising and talented youngsters from their youth academies. The formation of choice for Clarkson in this tournament will be a 4-1-3-1-1 with a counter attacking mentality. The players will attack on the wings but when ahead will change this tactic to the middle with short passing instructions. With an experienced manager and a supportive fan base, Azrea can surely make noise in the group. None of these youths play abroad but if the national side can play attractive football and achieve good results, they can surely become noticeable to foreign clubs.

Team Staff
Head Coach: Steven Clarkson (48 Y/O)
Assistants: Marco Kennedy (41 Y/O), Ralph Carter (43 Y/O), Antonio Allen (39 Y/O)
Medical Staff: Laurance Potter (Doctor), Dan Stevenson (Physio), Cole Hartley (Physio), Nathan Benedict (Physio)
Position Coaches: Gabe Narese - 37 (GK), Joshua Smith - 42 (DF), Caleb Boyle - 35 (MF), Ethan Scott - 39 (FW)

Team Information

STARTING XI
GK: Shane Bennett - 20 Y/O - Fort Thomas FC
Bennett has been with the Fort Thomas youth program since he was 15. He performed at a consistent rate for the side and earned his way into getting the starting position with their academy two years later. Shane is a tall and athletic goalkeeper who loves to punch the ball out. He is effective in one on one situations but his aerial ability on set pieces is mediocre.

WBL: Liam Cole - 19 Y/O - Minford FC
Liam Cole has been a sensation as a left back for Minford ever since they scouted him from his local recreation side at the age of 16. They praised him for his speed and marking as well as his timely challenges. He has led Minford to consecutive U20 championships, both with him as captain. Can his success be proven on the national stage?

CBL: John Kingsley - 18 Y/O - Southport
This Southport talent has a long way to go to being one of the best at his position but he certainly has the potential to do so. He was recently scouted last season for the Seahawks and was proclaimed to being a solid center back that loves to use his strength in the most of situations. Kingley can also play as a defense midfielder.

CBR: Brandon Lewis - 20 Y/O - Fairview United
Brandon Lewis has already been promoted to the senior squad of Fairview after tremendous defensive showings with their youth academy for the past several seasons. Lewis has been with the sides' youth affiliate since the age of 16 and he immediately made an impact. His aerial capabilities on corners and crosses are splendid but his speed and stamina can be a problem late in games.

FBR: Simon Evans - 19 Y/O - Avonside Athletic
Another talent who has been promoted to a senior team is Simon Evans, a full back out of Avonside. This player loves to overlap in midfield and he can deliver great crosses in while using his speed to mark down and get past opponents. He can get into foul trouble with the referee with senseless tackles and tends to lose the ball a lot on clearing aerial balls.

DMC: Zachary Thomas - 19 Y/O - Riverside
Zachary Thomas will be one of the most important players in this Azrean formation. His defensive midfield position will determine when and where to press his opponents but will also be the spring for the teams counter attacks. He is a good technical player but tends to be selfish at times, especially in tense and tight moments.

WL: Tbver Dohake - 20 Y/O - Fort Thomas
Tbver Dohake is a crafty and speedy left winger who uses this two attributes to get past his opposition. He has been with Fort Thomas' youth academy for 3 seasons before making his way into their senior squad, recently. Many close fans and observers of Azrea's national sides believe Dohake is one of the nations' brightest youngsters. His weaknesses are defensive pressure and also strength.

MC: Malcolm Taylor - 19 Y/O - Riverside
Another Riverside youth player who has been called to the national side is Malcolm Taylor. The 19 year old "wonder kid"is proclaimed to be thew future of Azrea's senior football program. He has a variety of playing styles but prefers to stay in his central position and deliver balls over the top to the wings. If he can stay healthy and in form, Malcolm Taylor can be a nuisance to many teams he faces.

WR: Christian Roberts - 17 Y/O - Timmons Football Club
Christian Roberts has been a rising star for Timmons U20 side this past season. The youngest member of the U21 side has plenty of skills to bring to matches but his technique might be the best. Roberts' footwork and ability to cross balls into the box is the reason why at only 17, he is Timmons' starting right mid/wing option. Health, and poor decision making at times can cause this player to do poorly in matches. When healthy, Roberts is quite the talent to watch.

AMC: Anderson King - 18 Y/O - Sallace City
Anderson King's slow rise to Sallace City's senior squad has been something to notice. He exploded with 10 goals and 6 assists in 15 U20 matches in his first season with the club at the age of 16. He was able to put up similar statistics with 12 goals and 4 assists last season which now lands him with the big boys. King has a cannon of a shot and is a tremendous set piece taker. His weaknesses are defensive prowess on pressure and technique.

ST: Victor Vage - 20 Y/0 - Greenville FC
Victor Vage is the most well know youngster to feature on this Azrean U21 roster. A 20 goal season last year in the Azrean Premier League in only 33 appearances have quickly led to international recognition. When healthy, Vage is a playmaker, who loves to create opportunities with his team mates. One -two's seem to be his favorite style of play and his burst of speed backs this up. Unfortunately, Vage can become slightly selfish running at defense and is fairly weak when it comes to aerial scoring chances.

Reserves
GK: Lewis Macklin - 18 Y/O - Sallace City
GK: Anthony Ray-Jacobs - 17 Y/O - Larmana

DF: Wesley Jones - 19 Y/O - Chapeco
DF: Cyle Pierce - 18 Y/O - Concord
DF: Mikey Wilson - 20 Y/O - Bellmington
DF: Robbie Bates - 17 Y/O - Larston

MF: Tyler Jordan - 19 Y/O - Timmons
MF: Sammy Powell - 20 Y/O - Dayne City
MF: Tyrone Spears - 18 Y/O - Riverside

FW: Steven Spencer - 18 Y/O - Bellmington
FW: Daniel Davis - 17 Y/O - Rutherford
FW: Clyde Stevens - 20 Y/O - Kempsford

Carlo Machado - 21 years old - Image San Llera University of Chemistry - Was very solid in the back for SLUC last year, has long wingspan but little athleticism

Defenders
Left Backs
Ramondiera - 20 years old - Image Besmarlaltur Wanderers - Tremendous work rate and blazing speed up and down the flank, but technically he's still very raw

Ferro Xabea - 21 years old - Image Campos Soldatos - Best played as a CAM, has a great shot and can pass

Right Wings
Plutarco Huerta - 20 years old - Image San Llera University of Chemistry - Terrific crosser, very speedy, tries on defense but fails regardless
Lionel Roca - 21 years old - Image Patria Poble - Crosses the ball, plays solid defense, not too much else

Strikers
Ismail al-Said - 20 years old - Image San Llera University of Linguistics - Lit up the San League, should be the team's top goalscorer
Marco Boceria - 21 years old - Image Project +90 San Llera - Made the age cutoff by two days, will provide leadership and a poaching presence

MANAGER
Lina Amos, ImageUrrheddiao United F (MIn) Age: 40
The CFF has decided that Franscesca Cortes Larriet should focus on the actual National Team, and also be given an Assistant Manager. Enter Lina Amos, the mastermind behind Urrheddiao's rise. While being Franscesca's rival, they are also great friends; she will take the helm of the first ever U21 squad. The team will try to play a more possession-based football than the usual defensive style of Chromatika. This team is full of youngsters trying to find their way, while captained by a select few who have already proven their worth.

The Team
First listed player is starter; First two starters for Central Midfielder
Under Chromatik law, any player under the age of 18 do not reveal their color.

GOALKEEEPERS
#1 Jillian NIER ImageUrrheddiao United F (MIn) Age: 19 Height: 6 ft 7 in
#2 Mia RIA ImageBelle Epoquenne F Age: 15 Height: 5 ft 7 in
After having her debut performance at the international level at the recent AOCAF, Nier will get another chance to distinguish herself at the DBC. It's hard to believe that she is only nineteen and the current favorite to win the Golden Glove in the League Chromatiks 1 this coming season. Her reflexes and height are her biggest assets, and she'll be looking to use the knowledge learned behind Nikolai Thorben to have success herself. Mia Ria, the recent heroine of the U15 team, will play the substitute role, playing the role Jillian played behind Nikolai. Her experience at Belle Epoquenne along with this squad should help her grow for years to come.

LEFT BACK
#4 Noriko ANAMOSO ImageZ'ai'ai University of Technology M (DBl) Age: 19 Height: 6 ft 2 in
#6 Claire JEWELL ImageChromatik State University F (LIn) Age: 18 Height: 6 ft 1 in
The little-known Chromatik Collegiate scene will come into bearing this DBC, although there is no officially designated athletic competition in the collegiate ranks yet. The teams play each other for bragging rights, and coaches do most of the work. Anamoso is a player who loves to mark his man and run, while Jewell is a tough player not afraid of contact. Expect Anamoso to start, but Jewell will come in after halftime in most games.

CENTER BACK
#28 Luuk AART ImageLonngeylin Coast M (MIn?) Age: 21 Height: 6 ft 4 in
#23 Jeri O'NEAL ImageChromatik City College University M (DBl) Age: 20 Height: 5 ft 10 in
Oh the books that could be written about Luuk Aart, his struggles with the legal proceedings of Chromatika, and his career. He shifts from the AOCAF to the DBC before his second season in the V-League; his skills are unquestioned and his work ethic is great, and now his psyche is being looked at as being strong as well. The new style of play should mean that he can take it a little easier now, as most of the pressure will now fall upon the midfield. O'Neal is a bright product out of CCCU, having nice jumping skills to clear balls, while employing nifty footwork.

RIGHT BACK
#20 Tori HORIKSEN ImageDepri Sanar University F (LVi) Age: 19 Height: 5 ft 7 in
#19 Kevin INGALL ImagePur State University M (DIn) Age: 20 Height: 5 ft 10 in
In the non-funded, coach-led Chromatiks League, Horiksen is known to be someone who plays bigger than he is; someone who is not afraid of getting a little dirty. The Young Anomalies will definitely need his grit to shine through as they venture into a more offensive system than the one Chromatika usually deploys. If he needs spelling, the calm demeanor of Kevin Ingall along with his sure feet will come in handy.

LEFT MIDFIELDER
#18 Carrol LIAM ImageAnomalies M (DBl) Age: 20 Height: 6ft
#15 Brie ERIKSEN ImageDepri Lanar University F (LVi) Age: 19 Height: 5 ft 11 in
Carrol Liam gets the starting nod as he is the National Team's backup. He's a bit shy and prefers actions to words, but he's a solid player who's had some time playing with Antonio in the past. Expect him to the one to push the ball up the pitch, as he tries to get used to a different style. Brie Eriksen is a neat up-and-coming product who features quickness and grit, two great traits.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDER
#30 Joseph RENN Image Chromatik City College University M (DIn) Age: 20 Height: 6 ft 3 in
#27 Princeton ETHAN Image Chromatik State University M (LVi) Age: 21 Height: 6 ft 1 in
#24 Nicholas SENDOR Image University of Myana M (MIn) Age: 19 Height: 5 ft 11 in
#20 Bryce SCHOVEN Image Alnio University of the Arts M (DVi) Age: 20 Height: 6 ft 7 in
Renn and Ethan, two rivals, will be the ones manning the center midfield for the Young Anomalies. Renn is the lanky one who prefers long crosses and playing defense, while Ethan is the offensive minded assist machine, stretching the field whenever he can. Behind them are Sendor and Schoven, two other capable young men. Expect all four of these players to end up in the League Chromatiks sometime, and become household names in Chromatik football.

RIGHT MIDFIELDER
#12 Sascha KRISTINE ImageGurshan Sharks F (LVi) Age: 21 Height: 5 ft 7 in
#8 Arnhel GERARD ImageAlnio University of the Arts M Age: 19 Height: 5 ft 11 in
Sascha Kristine isn't the greatest of players. but she's not terrible. She lacks in speed and size, and makes up for it with precise passing. Arnhel Gerard is also like her, although a bit taller. He still has time to mature and grow, however, so he might turn out to be a more complete product.

LEFT WINGER
#16 Hurik MARIE ImageWirr Tsi Shock F (LBl) Age: 21 Height: 5 ft 8 in
#9 Kriegal LOWRIE ImageUniversity of Myana M (DIn) Age: 20 Height: 5 ft 11 in
Hurik Marie is tired of being mistaken for a man, so it's time for her to show her true colors. She's had a few seasons with Chromatik, and now moved to Wirr Tsi; her shooting skills are adequate, her footwork quite a bit better. Kriegal Lowrie turned down offers in the League Chromatiks 1 to play for University of Myana, his hometown school. He will be a sought after commodity in a few years.

STRIKER
#10 Kéirâ ANDISORI ImageLetson Town F Age: 17 Height: 5 ft 3 in
#21 Leann LEMUS ImageGurshan Sharks F (DBl) Age: 21 Height: 6 ft 2 in
Ah, the rebel who decided to screw high school, screw college, screw Chromatika, and go to Ethane to play football. She's fast, like the fastest Chromatika has ever seen. She's raw, but her motor never stops. Leann Lemus is more of the set and shoot type, and will try to get some playing time, but expect the Andisori show.

RIGHT WINGER
#11 Trenn RIEN ImageAtlético Nacional M (MIn) Age: 20 Height: 6 ft 3 in CAPTAIN
#18 Jazmin DRAGANA ImageMyana Islanders F (LIn) Age: 21 Height:5 ft 11 in
The star studded captain for the Di Bradini squad will be none other than Trenn Rien, the recent signee of Atlético Nacional. His unpredictable nature truly defines him, backed up by supreme talent and playmaking ability. What will his leadership skills be like? Anyone's guess. Backing him up will be Dragana, who's become a reliable source of goals for Myana of late.

National Info: The Unified Sunrise Islands are, in fact, the religious union of many countries whose names have Sunrise Islands. According to the Liro d'Arceus, a book where the religion of Arceusism is based after; the Sunrise Islands were formed by Arceus to guarantee peace and order. At one point, however, those rules ended up being forgotten by a good portion of the people, so Arceus sent Pokémon to carry its' word. After a brief while with both creatures coexisting, they all came to a term and the Sunrisians then became the people to carry the word of Arceus and follow its' principles.

At first, there was only one Sunrise Islands, known as the Northern Sunrise Islands. They are the most memorable name among the Sunrise Islands and also the one responsible for most of its' accolades. However, that doesn't exclude the other Sunrise Islands, all generated by other PokéDeities who, bored and inspired by Arceus, decided to take a try and create their own pieces of land on different realms. It wouldn't take long for almost all of the Sunrise Islands to end on a secondary realm, where, after the Kirigiri-no-Mikoto incident, all Sunrise Islands ended up joining the realm of the Northern Sunrise Islands. As a result of how out of hand the situation became, there is at least one Sunrise Island for each direction known to any being, even Up and Down; though reports say that they once considered having an All-Around, but that would sound "like a plan of a Spinda" and the closest to that are the Ferris Wheels still on existence at the Sunrise Islands.

Sunrisians mostly use English as their main language, seeing as most of the countries involved, for some rather helpful coincidence, all speak English with some other language but considering most of the Sunrisians have a thing for foreign culture, it's not rare to see that some weird group of people speak your language, even if it's way hidden and original and full of diacritics. In the end, the Sunrisians are a peaceful bunch, only getting to arms when really needed. They consider Pokémon Battling to be a thing, are starting to get used to cars yet have already developed a cure for a bunch of stuff. That's the Sunrise for you. And that's why most people love it.

Brigantii Under 21's World Cup Squad

Coach - Andrew Windass, at only 38 Andrew is still relatively young, but having been a member of the senior team is no stranger to international football. The under 21's world cup will be his first competitive duty. A traditionalist it's likely he will play a 4-4-2 with a midfield diamond.

Goalkeeper - Royle Burke. Bishopbury. The third choice Bishopbury keeper is only 19, but has made some great appearances for the youth side who prove to be one of the best in the country. 6ft 6ins with a huge reach he's a stopper with a bright future.

Right back - Brooks Hamilton. Belle-Isle on Sea. The wingback helped Belle-Isle gain promotion to the premier league and was an ever present in their championship winning side, playing 35 of their 38 league games.

Centre back - Leroy Emmett. Called up to the Brierthorne first team this season and turned in some solid performances. He's a tall, ungainly footballer, who will hopefully fill out to be a tall, stocky centre back who controls the back four.

Centre back - Mark Windham. Bishopbury. Another member of the Bishopbury academy, Mark is yet to make his first team debut, thanks to the millions the team spent on international imports, but had a season long loan at League 1 club Beckford, where he played 20 times and caught the eye of some of the premier league's mid-table sides.

Left Back - Byron Samuels. Moorledge United. Byron was one of the shining stars in an average Moorledge season and his performances have been attracting the attention of the attention of Brigantii's top teams. Pacey, capable of timing his tackles well and pretty good from set pieces, he's a modern marauding wing back.

Right wing - Rowan Newell. Ridgemont Town. The right winger is the oldest member of the team and has been playing regular premier league football for the last two years. Turning in outstanding performances for Ridgemont, it wont be long before the dexterous winger receives a call up for the full team.

Centre mid' - Jamey Irvin. Oxcastle Wanderers. The Oxcastle native made his debut for his home team this season and his eagerness to break up opposition attacks and then find a suitable pass has seen him added to the defensive spot in the midfield diamond.

Centre mid' - Jimmy Boon. Ashbury City. Coming into the Ashbury team in the second half of the season, Boon was one of very few good points in the Ashbury team, even managing to score twice with two stunning long range efforts.

Left wing - Trenton Sudworth. Bishopbury. Playing a few cup games this season for Bishopbury the winger's time on the field has been limited to a bit part. Quick, skilful and with a point to prove, the lefty will be looking to showcase his ability to whoever takes over at Bishopbury in the summer.

Centre forward - Zack Wilbraham. Rookscroft United. Transferred to the champions for free and thriving with regular playing time, even if he is still behind Mjatovic and Gayle in the starting lineup. Wilbraham made over 20 appearances this season, scoring 9 times and will be looking to continue this scoring form at the championships.

Centre forward - Saxton Avery. Landfell. His appearances have been limited to under 21's and reserve games this season, but the 17 year old has shown plenty of promise and will be hoping to break into the first team next year.

Subs – Taking only a 16 man squad, the five on the bench include;

Goalkeeper – Shannon Brook. Almondvale. Coming in for several games this season Shannon showed promise even if a little shy in commanding his box. A little more experience and he should come out of his shell and develop into a top keeper.

Wing back - Kegan Abram. Torkingham Wanderers. Had it not been for Samuels, the Torkingham wing back would have been first choice. Another sublime tackler who joins in the attack.

Centre forward - Xavier Tyrrell. Bishopbury. Yet another Bishopbury under 21's player. Xavier is a short, powerhouse of a centre forward with a low centre of gravity. It's hard to get him off the ball should you be a defender, as league 1 sides found this year during his loan spell at Adamstown.

Centre mid' – Jerrard Kelsey. Skyte City. Jerrard played his part in the Skyte City promotion push this season and has been catching the eye of some of the bigger clubs. Able to pick out a pass and can beat players with the ball, Jerrard will be one to watch.

Right wing – Ian Eaton. Rookscroft United. Ian played a handful of games for the champions and impressed on each occasion. Another player possessing pace, Ian will most likely feature as an impact substitute late on in games if Brigantii are chasing a late goal.

NEPHARA U-21s
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: The 'new style'. Solid in defence, fluid across the wings, hard-pressing, hard-running, hard-tackling. Always moving forward, ideally but not necessarily with quick passes along the floor but unafraid to make devastating long balls across to the opposite flank to throw defences off-guard.
Kit Supplier: Kirola - having generously given a spare design to the youth teams almost as a hand-me-down. Domestically-based Cloaker, now cut out of any kind of deal with the national team, are apoplectic.
Captain: Helmut Chilmark
Nickname: The Magpies

The Nepharim have had mixed fortunes with the Di Bradini Cup, and a shift of philosophies recently with regards to directly grooming players for the national team, having them play attractive and fast-paced football along the floor rather than just using size to their advantage, brutalising opponents and going out in the first round anyway. This is considered a moderately promising generation, but one that should be the norm rather than any particular cause for celebration - that said, players like Woodspur, Gosforth and Drinkwater are among the most anticipated ones to watch in the tournament, while Bruyne and Konoval might be the strongest centre-half pairing in the tournament.

Kirisakian- Kagami Ikeda takes over as boss, after two cycles with Grant Nean at the helm. Nean had the tough job of following on from DBC-33 winner Jock Sonny, and despite guiding the team to a third place finish, never really gained the full support of the playing staff during his four years in the job. There will be hopes now that the 18-year-old Ikeda can bring a fresh approach to the side after catching the eye while leading the Kirisakian U-15 team to a strong performance at the recent World Championships in Schottia.

In many regards, however, the appointment should be a smooth transition for the players, many of them were part of the previous DBC-36 side. That said, Ikeda seems to favour a slightly more attacking style of play, which will be a departure from Nean's slow patient build up - a tactic which only received a lukewarm reception.

Team info

It is a case of different manager very similar squad for Schottia, as the team of seventeen, eighteen, nineteen-year-olds from last time come back two years older, and hopefully two years wiser. After their success in Starblaydia, in Di Bradini Cup 33, Schottia have struggled to replicate the same winning formula, and will be hoping that with Ikeda at the helm, their time might have come.

Absent from the side which reached the quarterfinal two years ago are Anna Kurovski, Esther Abner, and Saskia Holden who all move out of the age bracket, as well as Johannas Ünterhausen who moves up to the senior team. Despite this, the core of the side is largely unchanged with Caity L'Attue, Billy Cross, and Mark Deleuze hopefully all peaking at the right time. Newcommers of note include FC Jansberg's Mark Ünterhausen (younger brother of Johannas and Melanie) Port Sebastian defender Sloane Kirkland, and Marionville's Johnny Birch.

Home -- Reverse -- Away

Image

Squad:

Image

GK Harry Gould, Image Port Sebastian, 21. Height: 188cm. Weight: 71kg
Gould is strong, powerful South Schottic keeper, who has great command of the area and stands up well, particularly in one-on-one situations. The 21-year-old is slightly less comfortable when called upon to get off his line, probably part of the reason he has yet to make the breakthrough at his club. Gould has been in and around the Schottia set-up for a few years now, and will be hoping that the number one jersey here will be a stepping stone to better things.

RB. Mark Ünterhausen, Image FC Jansberg 17. Height: 186cm. Weight: 69kg
Making history in Schottic football by becoming the third member of the same family to receive a cap at under-21 level. Mark joins his older sister Mel in the squad, while their other sibling Johannas moves up to the senior squad. At the tender age of 17, Mark has already equipped himself well, putting in a series of mature performances, both in the Schottic Regional Divisions, and the R49. The 17-year-old will be hoping to make the breakthrough at his parent club FC Jansberg, and continue to progress on the international scene. Although more of a natural centre-back, he looks set to start at right-back, where his pace and power can be used to good effect.

LB Molly Killenan, Image IFK Aldenskoett, 20. Height: 179cm. Weight: 68kg
Up until now Killenan has been best known as the little sister of senior star Eoin, however, she is a talented player in her own right. The 20-year-old was part of the last DBC side, making a couple off appearances off the bench en route to the quarterfinals. Killenan has spent the last two seasons at IFK Aldenskoett in the Cosumarite top flight, and brings pace, invention, and a bit of grit to this side playing at left back.

CB. Chris Bishop, Image Lammerton City, 21 Height: 188cm. Weight: 79kg
Despite seeing his club Lammerton City relegated, Bishop one of Schottia's most solid young centre-halves. Not the most gifted in terms of technical ability, the 21-year-old makes up for it with strong tackling, and brave defending. Bishop has represented Schottia at U-15 and U-18 level, and was part of the same youth team as the likes of Chloe Rudden, Ben Ross, and Boris Hunt

CB. Sloane Kirkland, Image Port Sebastian , 21 Height: 178cm. Weight: 65kg
Kirkland is something of an unknown quantity in this side; having yet to have started much for Port Sebastian. By all accounts, the player is now in the running for a start next season, so Porty fans should get a first look at her here in Valanora. In terms of playing style, Kirkland is a smaller, quicker player, who has a penchant for playing the ball out of danger. This is in marked contrast form her partner Bishop, and her distribution, and ability to build up from the back, will be essential to how the side play.

CM Mark Deleuze, Image San Jose Sharpedoes, 21 Height: 176cm. Weight: 66kg
One of the team's main players two years ago, the Sharpedoes star should be hitting the right age at the right time to really make an impact here. Deleuze is a product of the national academy set-up however he left to join up with the Northern Sunrise club at the age of eighteen. He is a quick technical midfielder, who specialises in accurate one-touch passes, and is always on the look out to play defence-splitting through-balls.

CM Johnny Birch, Image Marionville 20. Height: 185cm. Weight: 77kg
Birch has come out of nowhere to make a big impact at Marionville last season. A previous unknown, who hasn't featured in the Schottia set-up at any level, really stood out with some battling performances, playing alongside Barry Stewart. Birch is the most physically able of the Schottic midfield five, and he will probably need to be relied upon to anchor the side, as his teammates look to move the ball forward.

R/CM Caitlin L'Attue, Image AFC Hollybrent, 21 Height: 172cm. Weight: 60kg (C)
The Hollybrent youngster has been one of Schottia's rising stars for a number of years now, but is yet to receive a senior cap. An athletic, and lightning quick player, L'Attue is the one attacker in this side who really has the potential to be a game changer. The 21-year-old had been playing first team football for five seasons already, having previously stood out with her performances at her hometown club D'Itille. After joining the Osarian R49 side two years ago she since has helped them to second place in the league, and promotion to LigAnaia East.

ACM Billy Cross, Image Arsenal de Releinthi, 21. Height: 183cm. Weight: 75kg
It has taken a long time for Billy Cross to get his career back on track following his release from the Gloriaxian league four years ago. However, by all accounts the player has been putting in some good performances in the Fleftic league with Arsenal de Releinthi. A great, solid all-rounder, Cross has been trust into the more advanced role this time round, a position he should be well suited to, helping provide support to Melanie Ünterhausen in the attack. Cross is another player who is hopefully hitting form at the right time for this tournament.

AML/C Aya Bernman, Image Handon United, 19 Height: 177cm. Weight: 64kg
Bernman has been on absolutely stunning form for Handon United recently, combining explosive pace and fancy footwork to really take the SPL by storm. The teenager has been given a new lease of life under manager Carl Sorensen, and has been performing well both domestically and in the UICA competitions. She has formed a strong partnership with Semarlandic winger Christian Lovenkrands and Ikeda will be hoping to see the same effect here with L'Attue. Cutting inside off the left wing, Bernman will constitute one of the side's main goal threats.

F/ACM Melanie Ünterhausen, Image FC Soessch, 19. On loan from Image Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Height: 180cm. Weight: 71kg
Perpetually on loan, the eldest of the Ünterhausen kids seems to be unphased by all the upheaval putting in strong performances with both Kelsy Merchants in Port Christopher and FC Soessch. Despite Soessch continuing to struggle last season, the teenager impressed many in the media with some very mature performances for her childhood heroes. Much like her brothers, Melanie is a physical player, hardworking and extremely competitive.

Spotlight on - Tsumugi Narita
An interview with the up-and-coming Cornellians starlet

Looking at Tsumugi Narita, you wouldn't know she was a footballer.

The eighteen year old Cornellians midfielder looks eerily like your average Kirisakian high school student, so much so that it would be hard to pick her out from amongst a crowd of students. Unlike other footballers, who have no compunctions about flaunting their status and wealth on a daily basis, Narita - or Tsumugi as she insisted I call her - was the exact opposite. Dressed casually in a Koenagi T-shirt and a pair of jeans, she apologises profusely for being just a few minutes late for our interview - she had stayed back after training to talk to her manager - and flops down into a chair, trying to catch her breath.

Sitting opposite her in a cramped Schottic cafe just a couple of hundred yards away from Cornellians' training facilities, I got the impression that the midfielder was, despite her prodigious footballing talent, just a normal person living a normal life. Her life, as it just so happens, revolves around football.

"Yeah, I consider myself a normal person, more or less. I wake up at six in the morning, get to the training ground at nine, and don't leave until five. I get yelled at several times throughout the day, and I end up flopping onto my bed, dog-tired, once I get home; yeah, I'm your typical Kirisakian student!"

Tsumugi laughs as she takes a sip of her piping hot Earl Grey and picks up a spoon, ready to attack the slice of Mont Blanc sitting enticingly on her plate.

A silky central midfielder with a penchant for attacking, Tsumugi is in many ways the archetypal Kirisakian midfielder. One of several Kirisakian players whose performances in international youth tournaments aroused interest from abroad, Tsumugi signed for Cornellians at the tender age of sixteen, and subsequently moved to Schottia to further her footballing career. Since then, she has firmly established herself as an integral part of manager Alexander Pearce's team, regularly turning in polished performances in the heart of a midfield that has arguably been the driving force behind Cornellians' title-winning campaign. Watching her measured, composed play in the Cornellians midfield, it's sometimes easy to forget that despite hers being a wonderfully talented player flush with potential, Tsumugi is still only eighteen years old.

"I've had to get used to being the baby in the team! Back in Kirisaki, my teammates were usually around the same age as me, but that's definitely not the case here. I've been incredibly lucky in that I have wonderful teammates here; Jeremy [Schottic goalkeeper Jeremy McNott], Eloisa [Gloriaxian forward Eloisa Purinton] and Casey [Nepharim midfielder Casey Brind], just to name a few, have all been great to me, and I've learned a lot from playing in the same team as them. I've also become fast friends with Kathryn [Cosumarite forward Kathryn Kvanderwyk]; she's the only one in the team closest to me in terms of age, so we're stuck together, haha!"

The conversation shifts from her teammates to her life in Lochend. Tsumugi asserts that she's been able to make do with what she has for the most part, and she's gradually managed to acclimatise during her spell at Cornellians.

"There was always going to be a bit of a culture shock for me! I'd lived my entire life in Kirisaki before Cornellians came in for me; and truth be told, at first I didn't like the idea of leaving friends and family behind for a foreign atmosphere. I wasn't the independent, adventurous type, you know; if I'd had my way back then I probably would've signed for a local team instead of Cornellians. I still remember agonising over the decision for a long time; a domestic team offered the comforts of familiarity and security, but a foreign club was way, way more enticing insofar as my career prospects were concerned. It wasn't about the cash so much as the experience that I'd get at Cornellians, playing with a diverse group of internationals - I'd never get that experience at home, no way."

"What finally swung it for me was Kaede. She had heard about the offer from Cornellians, and she called me at a really ungodly hour; three o'clock in the morning, to be precise! She gave me a pep talk, encouraged me to accept the Cornellian offer because it would aid my development. I felt a little bemused, listening to her going on and on about the wonders a spell in Schottia would do for me, but in the morning I woke up, gave it a minute's thought and - yeah, Kaede was right, I'd do better to sign for Cornellians."

"Here in Schottia things are obviously wildly different, whether it's football or life in general. You don't have the heavy emphasis on offensive tactics that you have back in Kirisaki, for one; for another, the SPL is a whole different beast compared to the Kirisakian leagues when it comes to physicality. Back home defenders always stood off you if you had the ball because they were afraid of giving away a foul; here, the defenders just come barrelling at you every chance they get! Most of them play hard but fair, they do genuinely try to play the ball when they dive in. Tough luck if you're in the way, because the refs here are more lenient, they're inclined to give the tackler the benefit of the doubt!"

Despite having had to alter her playing style to keep up with the demands of Schottic football, Tsumugi has not let those little niggles get in the way of her performances. Tsumugi's excellent vision and passing range have seen her become an influential figure in the Cornellians midfield, supplying her team's forwards with abundant service - Cornellians plundered 94 goals over the course of the 2020-21 cycle. Her game is not exclusively limited to that, either, as she popped up with important goals in several matches over the course of the season, most notably a close-range rocket in a 2-0 win against Handon United, a match that saw Cornellians leapfrog their rivals in the SPL table en route to winning the title. Tsumugi's consistent displays in Schottia have not gone unnoticed by U21 managers Kaede Shirazaka and Fuu Kiriyama, and while she might yet be some way away from receiving a coveted call-up to Kurumi Shirakiin's squad, Tsumugi's Schottic adventure has earned her a place in the Little Nova's provisional squad for the upcoming Di Bradini Cup alongside the likes of Hino Asahi, Kanade Kirisaki and Koeda Sakuranami.

"I'm glad that I've been selected for the provisional squad, very much so. It goes to show that hard work really does pay off when it comes to football. I know my performances in previous seasons have been lacking in some respects, and I've tried my best to improve my all-round game throughout the course of this cycle. It's definitely a great honour to be able to represent your country, and with any luck I'll be able to play for the Little Nova at the next DBC. I know Kaede and Fuu are scrupulous; they pay a lot of attention to detail when they select their squads, and hopefully they'll consider me worthy of a place in the final squad!"

While she has played second fiddle to the industrious Kanade Kirisaki for most of the previous DBC, Tsumugi harbours high hopes of not only making it on the plane to Valanora, but also making a place on the starting XI her very own.

"Obviously, yeah, that's something I would really love. I know Kanade well, and make no mistake, she contributes to the team in many ways that I can't, but I'd like to think that I've improved by leaps and bounds since the last DBC, and I'm ready to challenge her for her position in the starting XI. The final decision is out of my hands, of course - that's all down to Kaede and Fuu in the end - but I'd be delighted, absolutely delighted, to be given the opportunity to prove myself on such a big stage. I'll continue to put my head down and work hard in training, and we'll see how it goes from there. Oh, and Kanade, if you're reading this - no hard feelings!"

Almost before we know it, the sun has set, with the faint light of the moon casting a gentle glow over the Schottic streets.

"Oh, crap, I had no idea it was so late. I've still got to go stock up on groceries; I've run out of cereal for tomorrow's breakfast!"

Tsumugi smiles at me and gestures for the bill. I hastily stand up and pay for both of us, ignoring Tsumugi's muffled protests as I stuff the notes into the bemused waiter's hands. Tsumugi, turning a little red from embarrassment, thanks me effusively as I trail along behind her on our way out of the cafe. As we step out into the street, I turn around and grasp Tsumugi's hand, giving it a couple of quick pumps.

"Thanks for the interview, Tsumugi, I had a charming evening. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on your future performances, and I wish you all the best in making the final DBC squad."

By way of response, Tsumugi grins and flashes me a thumbs up, no longer the abashed girl from a minute before.

"The pleasure was all mine. Thanks for taking the time to interview me; looking forward to reading your piece when it's published!"

Therefore, he creates the lion's share of the teams chances and scores the lion's share of the team's goals. However, he takes the corner kicks from both sides, so he would not score off of a corner kick.

For reference, Di Bradini Cup 37 takes place in June-July 2013 by the Hasznian timeline which means it finishes before the start of the 2013-14 White League season. Ages for players are accurate as of 13 July, the day of the final.

Hasznian Di Bradini Cup Team

The Hasznian U21 side, known as the “White Dwarfs” in contrast to the senior “White Suns”, are presently the only active international side for Hasznia. The HFA has opted to pursue a “ground-up” style to building a national team, creating a U21 team from scratch before moving into the senior ranks. All of the players play domestically, owing to the isolation imposed by the Kingsley Republic for the past fifty years, but with the liberalization of emigration policy, the door is now open for players to move abroad.

Under Coach Gibbs, the Hasznians are expected to pursue a fast-paced attacking style of football, frequently overloading the box with overlapping fullbacks and wingers. While technically sound, the defense’s success will hinge on three things; the ability of the fullbacks to get back in time to defend counterattacks, the stamina of the central midfielders, and the communication between the center backs in order to run an offside trap. Failing at any of those points will have dire consequences, but the White Dwarfs expect to score enough goals to offset.
Style Modifier: +4

Coach: Phillip Gibbs, 45

Gibbs is a former journeyman player whose relative success in coaching has seen him generate quite a bit of buzz. A native of Sterling and a product of the Sterling Academy, he signed on as the U18 coach in 2011, twenty years after he left in disgrace as an academy flop. He’s proved to be a prolific coach in spite of, or perhaps because of, his use of tactics that are largely foreign to Hasznian football. Gibbs’s fullbacks overlap and act as midfielders at times, where other Hasznian fullbacks tend to stay at home.

Roster
Andrew Foster – Urca – 20 y/o

Foster rose to national prominence with the traumatic injury of Urca’s starting keeper, Mohammed Yaro, in the third match of the 2012-2013 season. He was praised early on in the campaign for his work ethic and the number of acrobatic saves, but later in the season offenses began to expose his decision-making and eagerness to come off his line. He will compete with Willie Hicks for the starting job.
Nicholas Cannon – Blackfort FC – 18 y/o

Primarily on the team to gain experience, Cannon is the number one goalkeeper for Blue League team Blackfort’s reserve side, and will likely split starts in Blackfort's 2013-14 White League campaign. He will be a backup for Foster.
Eugene Reed – Balance – 20 y/o (CPT)

A regular starter for Balance FC in the Blue League, Hasznia’s second division, Reed has been playing senior football since he was 17. A pacy, technically gifted defender, Reed likes to overlap and is a major scoring presence for Balance, but lacks defensively, frequently playing attackers onside in an effort to catch up. He is expected to start at right back for the White Dwarfs.
George Sanders – Excel Athletic (on loan from Blackfort City) – 20 y/o

“Georgie” Sanders is a Blackfort City Academy product currently on a season-long loan at Excel Athletic, where he plays on the left wing in a 4-4-2 diamond. Nevertheless, Gibbs has chosen to slot Georgie at left back for the White Dwarfs, where his pace and skill on the ball will be offset by his limited tackling ability. Georgie is expected to split starts with Clinton Nguyen.
Clinton Nguyen – Sterling – 18 y/o

A relative unknown until he was called up to the Sterling U21 side by Gibbs. A somewhat enigmatic presence, capable of playing on either wing, Nguyen lacks pace for a player his age but makes up for it with excellent distribution and strong tackling ability, leading some to feel he presents more as a center-back. His presence on the White Dwarfs is somewhat controversial given his connection to Coach Gibbs, but he is nevertheless expected to split starts on the left with Georgie Sanders.
Keith Thompson – Castor Wanderers – 20 y/o

Another Black League starter on the White Dwarf squad, Thompson is a 194cm behemoth in front of the net. Already starting to fill out at 20, Thompson is strong in the air on both sides of the ball, and scored two goals off set pieces for the Wanderers last season. His pace is somewhat lacking, likely because of his size, but he is thought to be a locked-in starter for the White Dwarfs.
Kyle Bates – Gray Summit – 18 y/o

Bates was an MVP prospect in Conference North last year, and reports indicate he has been scouted heavily by White League sides in the summer transfer window before Gray Summit snapped him up. A somewhat off-the-wall selection by Gibbs, Bates is a small, fast, technical centerback who wins balls from strikers in the box and makes excellent clearances in clutch situations. The centerback situation is somewhat murky, but Bates is a contender to pair with Thompson at the back.
Donald Kelly – Ophelia – 17 y/o

A rotational player for Ophelia in the Blue League, Kelly is a likely transfer target from bigger clubs this offseason. Lean and fast, Kelly is a key part of Ophelia’s devastating offside trap, but his one-on-one defense leaves a lot to be desired. He will likely play behind Kyle Bates.
Steve Walters – Blackfort City – 17 y/o

A player from Blackfort’s prolific U-18 squad, Walters is nevertheless an unfinished product likely on the team to gain experience for future competitions. Will only see playing time if one of the above is injured.
Alan Fisher – Warton 1916 – 20 y/o

With two years on Warton’s senior team under his belt, Fisher is as close a veteran as the White Dwarfs can be said to have. A fast, hard-nosed #6, Fisher projects as an enforcer in the midfield and a key defensive component of Gibbs’s preferred 4-3-3. Predictably, his main sin is an inability to stay away from yellow cards, and his proclivity for arguing with referees doesn’t help. He will likely start every game for the White Dwarfs.
Willie Cooper – Urca – 16 y/o

The youngest player on the team, Cooper plays as a defensive mid and centerback for Urca’s academy, but lacks the size to be a contributor at the international level. Likely on the team to gain experience, he may see some minutes at holding mid if Fisher gets into red-card trouble.
Robert Barnes – Blackfort City – 20 y/o

A fast, prototypical winger, Barnes makes the cut despite a lackluster showing on loan to Isper last season. Barnes has all the physical gifts to be a world-class attacking mid, but his selfishness, poor direction off the ball, and poor decision-making hold him back. He will likely split starts with the other attacking mids.
Carter Vick – Algares – 19 y/o

A regular starter for Algares in the Black League, Vick is a mature player beyond his years who provides excellent ball service forward. His main weaknesses are his pace, which has never been good for a winger, and his lack of skill as a scoring threat, racking up assists as opposed to goals. He will likely be in the starting rotation for the White Dwarfs.
Carl Bryant – Bellport United – 17 y/o

A critical component of Bellport’s promotion campaign in 2012-13 despite his young age, Bryant is a showy attacking mid who made a name for himself winning one-on-one battles with defenders ten years his senior as Bellport made a run in the Blue League in its first season. His pace is good, but his conditioning remains a question mark. He may see games as a late substitute.
Bruce Zimmerman – Warton 1916 – 17 y/o

A relatively unknown player, recently promoted to Warton’s U21 academy. Probably will not start.
Chris Murphy – Bianca – 20 y/o

A finalist for the Black League Golden Boot last year, ultimately finishing third, Murphy is a long, tall, scoring machine, dangerous with his head and from range. His size and athleticism allow him to boss defenders and score massive goals off corner pieces, but they are also a massive crutch that has hindered his development with the ball at his feet. An obvious starter for the White Dwarfs.
Doug Garcia – Torrington – 17 y/o

A conditional starter for Blue League side Torrington, Garcia is arguably on the White Dwarfs for the novelty of a player over two meters tall who can still dribble competently. Lacks the finishing and pace to be a real impact starter, but may see some minutes late in games when set pieces become critical.
Kirby Mayers – Saffron – 19 y/o

A fast winger with a knack for drawing fouls, Mayers’s size and stamina make him a relatively easy target for tough opposing defenders. Besides falling down a lot, Mayers is known for never making easy goals; that is, his goals typically come when they are least expected, frequently outside the penalty box. Should see starts on account of his scoring ability and decent crosses.
Oscar Baker – Tummel – 19 y/o

A breakout player in Tummel’s 2014-15 Black League campaign, Baker slots as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 for his club, and it remains to be seen whether he can make the adjustment to winger for his country. Known as a poacher, Baker is something of a rival to Murphy in the Black League as two young, high-scoring strikers. He will likely start opposite either Mayers or Walker.
Tracy Walker – Baracha 1919 – 19 y/o

The heir apparent to a long line of successful wingers from Baracha, Walker is nevertheless confined to the Ibex’s U21 side for the time being, which has limited his development thus far. Nevertheless, a technically skilled winger, strong on the ball, but leaves something to be desired in terms of initiative and creativity. Used to playing within the strict confines of the Baracha system. Will probably start opposite Baker or Mayers.
Steven Phillips – Rallington – 16 y/o

A young player on the team for the experience, Phillips has seen some first-team minutes at Rallington in the Blue League, but lacks the stamina to be a factor for his home club. Nevertheless, presents as a solid option at wing, if only for limited periods of time.

Likely U21 starting formation:
Hicks – Sanders, Thompson, Bates, Reed – Vick, Fisher, Barnes – Mayers, Murphy, Walker
Substitutes: Foster, Nguyen, Walters, Zimmerman, Baker, Bryant

One Chance
The Story of a Fourth Division Player

This was it, I guess.

As the car sped down the M1 with just me and the driver inside to St. Phillip's Park, where the team was due to meet up and get our briefing, I silently looked at my small suitcase beside me and began to reflect.

How could I, a sixteen-year-old from the poorest region of Tumbra, be in the team? A team that had no less than two sons of famous footballers, and twenty-two other people from the First Division? It would be almost ludicrous to imagine that some young junker from Ilcaster could make it in.

I was a virtual unknown to everybody too. Even the Herald had my description down as "A complete unknown". Hell, they didn't even have a photograph of me! Nobody paid attention to the Fourth Division, and that was true. Even when I became the youngest goalscorer in the entirety of the Fourth Division's history, I didn't even get a line in the news because that same day, Goldlion Arsenal won the championship on goal difference.

Hell, I saved my team from yet another loss in the league. And for the next few weeks when I went shopping in the local supermarket I seemed to have an air of reverence around me. People were coming up to me and shaking my hand, saying "Thank you for saving us!"

It's the little things like that which make me feel good about playing for Ilcaster. Playing for those teams like Thurmond City for the money? Nah.

Dad was really ecstatic when he saw the teamsheet and the letter sent by the TFA. He didn't know I was in contention.

Nobody knew I was in contention.

"Stephen Hale's kid is in there! Mates always used to worship Stephen back in the day. They'd say he was the best thing since sliced bread..."

"Henry Hodsgon's lad too! This is one hell of a team, Oliver. You're lucky as beans to get in there."

"Look! You're in the Herald! They don't even have a picture of you!" and he'd let out one of his deep, guttural laughs...

The morning where I was due to leave came. It was almost as if half the town had turned up to see me leave. Almost as if I carried all their hopes and dreams on their shoulders. The manager was there too. Hugged me and told me to keep my chin up whatever happened.

The team was there and wished me well too.

Mum buried her face in Dad's shoulders, trying not to let any tears out.

I have one chance.

-***-

The car pulled up at the training centre. Dressed in my shabby old tracksuit, I got out.

I seemed like an anachronism amongst the high-tech kitsch at the training centre. After all, it was the pinnacle of Tumbran sporting technology. Our aim was to qualify for the World Cup someday.

Directed into a room where it seemed like half the team was there. I recognised most of them almost immediately. Alex Hudson, guardian of the goalposts was in the corner fiddling with some things. Gale Hartwidge, with his thick-cut hair and electric-blue eyes, sitting in one corner, sullenly staring at the players from all the more established clubs.

And in the middle of the room was Tristan Hale. His golden-blond hair shined as he cast a wary eye onto me.

"So, you're the kid who's been selected by dear old Robin, eh? 'The kid from Ilcaster' That's all that's on the people's lips these days. How did you manage to make it in?" he sneered

The room fell silent and all their eyes were on me.

I couldn't say anything. Couldn't think of anything to say. Didn't want to say anything either.

Sonny, if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say it. Dad's voice rang through my mind.

I ignored him and placed my bags down on the ground.

"Oi, you! Ganson, was it? Didn't you hear what I said? How did you make it in?"

I continued ignoring him. I wouldn't let him get me down. Behind my back, he made the cuckoo sign and his mates started laughing.

"Alright, alright. I won't pressure you much longer. But I'll let you know that if you manage to mess up, I'll..."

"That's enough, Tristan." An authoritative voice rang out from the door.

Tristan shot me a final sneer before he sat down, hands behind his head and legs crossed. It was evident this wasn't his first time in the centre. It wasn't going to be his last, either.

He was destined for greatness, wasn't he? Destined to lead the front line of the next generation. While I would probably be playing non-league football in a few years. Then I'd have enough, retire and start some boring life as a salesman, knocking on people's doors.

It was grim, but it was certainly the reality.

Robin Stoff - the man who had picked me - walked in. He gave a summary of the tactics, and our roles, and what we were supposed to do. When he announced the lineup for the first match against Azrea, Tristan shot me a dirty look. He was in the first eleven; I was on the bench. Thirty minutes later, we were on a plane to Gladerial. Into the jaws of the enemy.

I have one chance. Or will I get one? Would I get one?

Manager: Miralem Marjanovic
#1: GK: Aurélian Gautier (Parisia)
16 years old - 6’6 - 198lbs

Brilliant in his debut season at the tender age of 16, wonderkid Aurélian Gautier is the real deal. A huge, athletic frame with a freakish wingspan over 7ft, the 16 year old seems like he would be more adept in basketball, however the manchild stands dominant in between the sticks. As much of a giant he is, Aurélian has also been blessed with fantastic reflexes and the innate ability to throw himself to the ground in the blink of an eye. Very commanding when marshaling his defense, the youngster can only really be found at fault in his positioning, which he A. Makes up for with his size and reflexes, and B. has plenty of years left to develop the mental aspect of his game. Selected to the national team for the 50th AOCAF, he didn’t make an appearance but picked up invaluable experience.

#13: GK: Alejandro Navarro (Gracemeria)
20 years old - 6’ - 167lbs
Alejandro Navarro has fast reactions, great form, and great natural talent. He always gives his best effort, throwing himself at the ball; He’s not afraid to put his body on the line to stop the opposition to score by charging out and smothering the ball under himself right at the feet of an opposing player.
He leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to defending long shots, letting his guard down at inopportune moments.

#23 - RB - Admir Dizdarevic (Gracemeria)
18 years old - 6’ - 160lbs

A physical gifted and talented young right back, Admir Dizdarevic is certainly one for the future. Boasting good speed and strength, Dizdarevic’s technical game is still very much a work in progress. That being said, he’s decent enough at the defensive aspect of the game and while shaky going forward, the potential is there.

#14: CB: Eric Bambic (Rayo Shemra)
18 years old - 6’2 - 162lbs

Eric Bambic cuts an elegant figure on the pitch with a trim 6’2 frame and fantastic technical skills that see him delicately poke the ball away from a defender before neatly rolling the ball out away from a challenge before passing the ball to the midfield. He was fantastic for Rayo Shemra in his debut season, playing a vital role in helping the team blow past expectations to finish 11th. Named to the Under-21 Team of the Season, Bambic is looking like he’ll turn out to be a fine central defender for the national team in the future.

#5: CB: Darren Tran (Alexandria United)
20 years old - 6’4 - 185lbs

A very physically imposing defender, Darren Tran is one of the strongest defenders in the league, and couples that with decent pace and great positioning to form a brilliant defensive player. While lacking much of a passing or dribbling ability, the classic hardman Tran is a lockdown defender who, if he can perform strongly at the Di Bradini Cup and secure regular football at Alexandria United, will develop into a star.

#2 - DL - Alexandre Neves (Rosaria United)
17 years old - 6’ - 156lbs

An incredibly pacy and agile left back, Alexandre Neves charges up and down the flank for the full 90, combining his brilliant physicals with his great defensive abilities. He’s great at marking his man, and welds good tackling with a lethal array of offensive moves when headed up field. He has creative dribbling and pretty accurate crossing. We wouldn’t be surprised to see him start for Rosaria United in the next few seasons.

#13 - LB/RB - Itir Marchenia (Rosaria United)
20 years old - 5’10 - 155lbs
A classic defensive fullback, Itir Marchenia prefers to hold his position as a member of the defensive line, rarely pushing forward into the midfield before hitting an early cross. He has a great sense of positioning on the right wing, and really stands out as a picture-perfect stand tackler.

#16 - CB - Giorgio Magnozzi (Sebio City]
16 years old - 6’6 - 187lbs
Another physically scary defender, Giorgio Magnozzi is an absolute manchild. 6’6 and 187lbs, that’s big no matter how old you are. Pretty obviously, he’s dominant in the air and extremely physically strong. Perhaps predictably, he’s slow off the block, but he has a surprisingly quick top speed, and uses that recovery speed with his great marking and good tackling to chase down strikers. He’s decent at passing, but has no dribbling skills making him a limited defender.

#8: CDM (CM): Xabi Arisilde (Goodfeather FC-NPH)
Age: 21 years old - Height: 6’0 - Weight: 164lbs

A complete, consistent, hardworking and versatile midfielder, Xabi Arisilde and is capable of playing both center midfielder and defensive midfielder. Arisilde has good technique, solid vision, and fantastic passing range, he played as the deep-lying playmaker in a talented Parisia squad before moving abroad to Goodfeather FC in the second best league in the world for a fee of 8.17m╜. In addition to his creative brilliance, he is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder due to his strength and powerful build, combined with his rabid tenacity, football intelligence, aggressive tackling style and his mind that has been made to read the game. Occasionally guilty of committing hard challenges, and for his tendency to blow his top and rack up cards for particularly hard fouls.

#6 - CM/CDM/CAM/CB - Brutus Aurelianus (Alexandria United)
17 years old - 6’5 - 171lbs

One of the youngest starters in the league, Brutus Aurelianus had a fantastic season dominating the midfield. The 17 year old’s unique set of playmaking and defensive skills, combined with his physically imposing stature saw him play anywhere from centerback to defensive midfield, to a holding midfielder all the way up to an attacking midfielder. Clearly, this versatility is going to serve him wonderfully in the future, and he looks comfortable everywhere he plays. He has a great sense of positioning both offensively and defensively, and has great tackling, vision, and passing abilities. He lacks a bit in the dribbling department, but his size and strength allow him to get his body in between the defender and himself.

#10 - CAM/CM - Elrond Yorick (Matthew Rangers-USI)
18 years old - 5’9 - 153lbs

The elegant Elrond Yorick displays football in all of it's beauty, with picture perfect passes, elegant spins, and impossibly curving shots. He scored 6 goals and assisted a fantastic 15 goals in his debut season, but despite his best efforts his beloved Club Ithinia was relegated and suitors came out of the woodwork. Matthew Rangers will be sure to help him make the most of his truly world class level of potential. He will be a world beater, just give him a few seasons.

#21 - CM/CAM - Jokum Maram (Real Alexandria)
18 years old - 5'11 - 156lbs
Jokum Maram is a one of the most promising Echani midfield prospects, with the young midfielder possessing a sublime dribbling ability and feel for the ball, and a sharp eye for a defense splitting pass. He likes starting deep as a center midfielder, before bursting into the attacking area and using his dribbling to weave close to goal before threading a neat pass through to his attacking partners. We’d like to see him play as more of an attacking midfielder to make use of his attacking brilliance.

#16 - CM - Trayvon Wilson (Gracemeria)
17 years old - 6’ - 160lbs
A great athlete with a fair bit of pace and strength, Trayvon Wilson comes from the island state of Gracemeria. He’s got a great passing range, and loves to work hard as a member of the team. Trayvon is great at crossing the ball from deep, and is a great free kick taker in the making. He’s got a bit of a hot head about him, and is prone to rash challenges and poor tackles.

#18 - CM: Corbin Guifré (Rosaria United)
17 years old - 6’ - 154lbs
A midfielder in the mold of Xavier Albiol, 17 year old Corbin Guifré brings a sensible, metronome style to the team, pinging the ball all over the pitch to open options to retain possession. He’s got a bright future ahead of him, he’s already one of the best passers of Eshan, capable of pinging the ball around short and long with brilliant accuracy.

#19 - CM - Enzo Rodolfo (Parisia)
18 years old - 5’10 - 156lbs
A classic box-to-box midfielder, Enzo Rodolfo has a little bit of everything in him. He’s got some flair and dribbling about him, strong tackling, a decent shot from distance, good heading and ariel clearing, and most importantly to a box-to-box, an absolutely endless motor on him. He keeps going on and on and on, never stopping for the full 90, always running around the pitch.

#11 - ST/LW - Robby Stanford (Philosos)
19 years old - 6’3 - 154lbs

Tall and lanky, Robby Stanford came out of absolutely nowhere to score 21 goals in the Echani Seria-A before suffering a season ending muscle injury. Incredibly intelligent on and off the ball, Stanford always seems to pick the right option. Laying it out wide to a winger, smacking it back to the defense to retain possession, taking a shot, making a run, all of it is perfectly timed. He’s got blistering pace about him, and a great finishing ability. He’s physically weak and poor in the air, so he’s not winning any balls in the air, but his real strength lies with the ball at his feet.

#9: ST: Anthony Baudelio (Alexandria United)
Age: 19 years old - Height: 6'2 - Weight: 171lbs

For a young lad, Baudelio certainly has an intriguing skill set. Standing at 6’2, 171lbs, the 18 year old is a body for sure. He has the size and strength to bully defensive lines, but he has also been blessed with absolutely incredible pace, and the combination of the two allow him to influence the game based on his physical gifts alone. Add in a solid, if developing dribbling game, and you have a really special player on your hands. As more of an out and out striker, Baudelio isn’t much involved with build up play; his passing leaves a little to be desired, and as an attribute on the developmental back burner it might be a few years before we see him chipping in with some sweet assists but that’s beside the point. He’s already a decent finisher, and one of his main strengths comes from how incredibly composed he is in front of goal, an ice cold finisher. Had a slow start in his debut season, but eventually caught fire and scored 21 goals (7 assists), 6th most in the league.

#7 - LW/RW/ST - Marshawn Mercury (Sebio City)
19 years old - Height: 6’3 - Weight: 161lbs

One of the most entertaining Echani players, Marshawn Mercury boasts world class speed, this kid is easily the fastest player we’ve ever seen come from Eshan, and he’s managed to combine that with a fantastic, two footed dribbling ability. Add in natural flair and a penchant for the spectacular, and you have a truly jaw dropping player who constantly amazes and bamboozles with his creative dribbling moves. He is limited in his playstyle, as finishing and crossing are abilities that evade him for the moment, but reports of his determination and desire to improve are emerging from training camps and that can only bode well for his development. Anyhow, with his speed and dribbling ability, he’s already an invaluable asset to any team. Plus, at 19 years young, plenty of time for him to grow and develop. Had a fantastic debut season, with 7 goals, and 16 assists. He’s made almost 30 appearances for the national team, but as he isn’t a consistent starter he’s been given the go ahead to turn out for the Under-21 team.

#14 - RW/ST - José Joaquín (Alexandria United)
18 years old - 5’11 - 156lbs
One of the more unique Echani youth prospects, José Joaquín loves to lurk on the right wing, contributing little to the team movement, but investigating space and bursting into action with his acceleration and fantastic pace when he detects a scoring opportunity. A creative dribbler who packs plenty of strength in an agile frame, Joaquín makes use of his brilliant off the ball movement to get himself into positions to use his good dribbling and fantastic finishing to put the ball in the net.

#15 - RW/LW - George Ogar (Rosaria United)
21 years old - 5’11 - 153lbs
A classic outside crossing winger, George Ogar charges up and down the right wing, putting in a shift defensively before jumping forward on the byline looking to stretch the defense wide for his teammates. He’s got great pinpoint crossing, absolutely no semblance of a finishing ability, and creative dribbling. He’s a great player for a specific play style, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him move away from Rosaria United after the tournament if he’s put a good showing in.

#17 - LW/RW/ST - Magnum Cerelius (Gracemeria)
15 years old - 6’1 - 161lbs
The brightest Echani talent under 18 years of age, perhaps the biggest talent not named Alexandre van Ciavatinni, Magnum Cerelius hails from the island state of Gracemeria, and has been the star of the academy since joining at the age of 4. A fantastic physical prospect, blistering pace and acceleration and a developing level of strength, Magnum Cerelius stands at 6’1 and is starting to turn into a greek statue with his excellent physical development. Absolutely incredible ball control skills and a penchant for flair-filled dribbling, Magnum loves nothing more than embarrassing and nutmegging defenders. He over dribbles sure, but he’s only 15, let him develop naturally in that regard. He’s displayed a good finishing ability, racking up goals in the youth leagues but we’ll see how that translates to professional level opposition. Perhaps still too young to be starting for a youthful Gracemerian squad, don’t be surprised to see him coming off the bench a few times.

#20: ST/LW/RW: Daniele Dionisi (Monmarte)
17 years old - 5’9 - 147lbs
One of the brightest Echani prospects, 2 footed Daniele Dionisi is an absolute magician on the ball. He has fantastic control over the ball, and always plays with the flair lever turned all the way up. Capable of playing up top or on either wing, Dionisi is extremely quick and agile, and is decent at threading a pass through to a teammate. He seems to a poor finisher but somehow manages to find net with some degree of frequency. Dionisi was key in Monmarte’s turnaround when Luuk Wilbert promoted the academy product to the first team.

#22 - ST - Cosimo Dragone (FC Rosaria)
17 years old - 6’4 - 180lbs
A classic targetman, Cosimo Dragone is fantastic in the air and packs a ripper of a shot from any distance. Affectionately known as the Dragon by FC Rosaria fans, the youngster is perfect for leading the line. He doesn’t have much in the way of passing abilities to aid build up play, but to use him in such a manner would be a waste of his strength and stamina to bully defenders.

The Amazononian Observer

U21 Amazonestan side travels to Valanora for the Di Bradini Cup

Image
Nicolas Boaventura will captain this Amazonestan side in the U21 World Cup

VALANARI- As the U21 World Cup approaches in Valanora, Amazonesta will enter this tournament for the first time, where prospects from footballing nations around the world will prepare to impress. This is one of those unique tournaments that is very beneficial for the growth of everybody involved. You get to play in a high-pressure international tournament, where you must put on your nation's colors and represent your country against the best of the best(in your age group). However, due to this being a U21 international tournament, this is a perfect opportunity for everybody playing to impress for their countries. Due to the youth of players in this tournament, many do not start for top-flight clubs, which is not something you can say is true when you play in World Cup Qualifying.

This is very true of the Amazonestans. Due to international regulations, Orlando Juarez cannot be a part of the coaching staff for this tournament, since he is under contract to be the manager for the long-term future for the senior side. Therefore, his right-hand man, Antonio Paz, will get to be in charge for this tournament. Of course, Orlando Juarez will be there. He told Amazonestan reporters that he will not be involved in practices. However, he will attend training sessions that are open to the public, and of course, he will be in the front row, at all games, similar to a scout. He will be evaluating and grading players, as of course there is healthy competition for the spots on the World Cup Qualifying roster.

The competition for spots has already began in earnest. Plenty of Amazonestans are now earning playing time abroad. There will be no Baptism of Fire appearance for the Amazonestans this time around, so they will need to find other ways to evaluate players while wearing Amazonestan green. Some of that, of course, will be through friendlies. The senior national side for Amazonesta played to a 1-1 draw at Osarius, with the hosts using an experimental lineup while U21 captain Nicolas Boaventura, who played for the senior side in World Cup 74 Qualifying, played in the game and played well, though Amazonestan star striker Omar Falcone scored Amazonesta's lone goal.

Of course, this tournament is not only a unique opportunity to put players on the map for the side for World Cup 75 Qualifiers, but to put Amazonestan players on the map beyond that. Just because they don't make the senior side for World Cup 75 Qualifiers, does not mean that they cannot make the team for future qualifiers beyond that. Plenty of players will get a real opportunity to impress. Nicolas Boaventura, the only player on this team who played for the senior side in the last World Cup cycle, will be the clear & undisputed leader of this team. He has been given the yellow armband for this tournament, but there will be others players on this team as well with considerable amounts of talent.

The 19 year old Mário Gustavo will be looking to impress as well. While Omar Falcone has the central striker spot locked up for years to come, Alberto Cavalcanti is retiring from the international scene and will finish out his career in the Oisinistani Football League. That backup central striker spot is up for grabs, and while Gustavo wasn't thought to be #1 on the list to replace Cavalcanti, there's no telling what a good showing at this tournament could do for the 19 year old. Fábio Justo, as well, will also get a chance to impress. There's also going to be quite the competition for spots on the back line, as Amazonestan defenders largely struggled throughout the entirety of the World Cup 75 cycle. We'll see if the defenders here can do any better, especially on the left side, where Alejandro Vila looks to be the most talented player in the back.

This tournament is one of the toughest to get a read on, because many of the players have had very little international exposure prior to their participation in this tournament. While the Amazonestans are in a group with big name nations, if they play with confidence, the same mentality that they brought to the 61st Baptism of Fire and the 66th Cup of Harmony, well, then anything can happen. If they do not play with confidence, or if they fail to defend for a sustained period of time, then Amazonesta will find themselves bowing out of this tournament in the group stages.

Keeping Secrets, Part Six

9970 Court Road
Liebermann, Rosenpfelblatz, Mezaladbyi, Abanhfleft

Karen Villegas was still living in the same apartment that Rosenpflelblatz had provided her when she signed her first professional contract with the club. It wasn't that she couldn't afford a new place; God knows that her latest contract was more than enough for her to get another house aside from the villa that she had already bought for her family. No, the main reason why she was still staying in her apartment was that she liked the place. She liked the place, and she liked meeting the other young players who were being put up in the apartments, which were owned by Rosenpfelblatz City's holding company, and to see how they were adjusting to life in a top club like Rosen City.

It was Thursday, which was a rest day today because their next match was on Saturday at three in the afternoon, so Karen was on her way to the bar with some of her teammates. She was just preparing to put her earphones on when she happened to pass by one of the apartments and noticed that the door was slightly open. Karen half-remembered that the apartment had been given to Isa Tangemen, and that she had seen a few other Armeian players hanging out in there, along with that new young goalie from Anglatia, Blaze Unpronounceable-Surname. Karen, a naturally curious girl, went close to the gap between the door and the wall and tried to eavesdrop on what the former Armeians were talking about.

"Hey, look at the news," someone said. "Ross United just made a ten million mark bid for Isa. They have a pre-contract with Leonne Warner and they're going send her away too."

"Well, that came out of the blue," another female voice said. "How did that happen?"

"I'll tell you later," Isa's familiar voice replied to the question. "Hey, Ezra, that negotiating tactic of yours paid off big time."

Wait, what? Karen thought to herself. Didn't Isa just sign a new contract with Rosen? Why was she getting offers from other clubs?

And then Karen remembered. Isa had made a social media post hinting at a move to a new club by way of posing in an "RUFC" shirt, whatever that was, and captioning it with "Soon". Karen would not have paid much attention to it when it popped up on her newsfeed were it not for the fact that literally just hours before, the club had officially announced that Isa had signed a new contract with them. Karen remembered thinking Really, Isa? when she saw the post, but she didn't give it much thought because was always posting shit like that.

But then this time, it looked like there was some kind of weight to Isa's post. Some of the other players had thought that RUFC meant Riuwiee United, but Karen heard one of Isa's Armeian friends say that it was Ross United which had made the offer. Karen had no idea who Ross United were, but if they were offering ten million marks for Isa, then they must be desperate to get a young and talented keeper at whatever cost.

Karen shrugged, put her earphones into her ears, and walked away from the apartment.
"Ten million marks?" Elena Migdvorak, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies midfielder, said once Karen had finished with her tale. "Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure," Karen retorted. "I heard it myself, you know."

"Jesus Christ! And how much is that in penenks or NS bucks?"

"How should I know? I'm not a money changer; I don't know these kinds of things!"

"Oh, my God, remember when Isa made that stupid social media post saying 'soon' just hours after she'd signed a contract extension?" Claudine Samaniego, Rosen Ladies defender, added. "My God, we all laughed it off because we thought it was just more of the same antics from her. Turns out it was true the whole time!"

"What are we paying Isa now?" Marfa Kirilenko, goalkeeper, asked. "Something to the tune of 30 thousand penenks? And now she's going to move to this club, wherever this is?"

"I think she may have planned it all along, guys," Karen said. "I heard her tell somebody named Ezra that. quote, his negotiating tactic paid off big time, end quote."

"Negotiating tactic?" Elena repeated. "The gold-digging bitch! She's just sucking off all our money before she makes that big money move to her homeland!"

"Technically, it's not her homeland," Alex Rousseau, Rosen Ladies' star striker, said as she spoke for the first time in the conversation. "She's from Armeia, and Armeia just went total war, so technically she's stateless. She's trying to get Anglatian citizenship, though, and this Ross United is in Anglatia's Imperial Super League, so you may have a point there, Elena. I remember just after news of Armeia's going total war broke out that I offered to get Isa Fleftic citizenship, but she refused and said said that she'd rather get citizenship from the place where most of her friends were fleeing to."

"I don't even know what to think anymore," Claudine admitted. "On the one hand, I think we should all just let her go to wherever she wants to go because I simply can't handle her antics anymore. On the other hand, Alex, maybe you should have pushed Fleftic citizenship on her. Maybe that would finally get her to shut up about hating us and wanting to go home."

"I'd prefer to keep my lips sealed on this," Alex muttered.

"I really cannot believe it," Marfa said. "So she signs a new contract with us, and then she calls out a team in her new home country, and now they're offering big money for her? I mean, pardon my French, but what an ingrate! She won the league with us! Well, actually, she won the league with you guys 'cause I wasn't part of the team then, but you know what I mean. The team is obviously spending time and money to develop her, and this is how she repays us? By getting another club to sign her?"

"I know, right?" Claudine agreed. "I mean, you can't make this shit up! We gave her everything! A league title, a loan back to her home club; we even signed her goalkeeping mentor at the cost of our title defense... What more does she want us to do so she'll stay?"

"I don't think she wants to stay here anymore," Alex said. "And that's kind of the point of all this, I think. I mean, here's my scenario, okay? Isa knows she's got a year left on her contract. She negotiates a new deal with the club for more money, probably using Ross United to push her wage up from where Carlos would reasonably want it. And then Ross United go ahead and make the offer anyway. It's win-win for her."

"Yeah, and lose-lose for us," Claudine retorted. "She and this Ross United are the only ones going to benefit from this. All we're gonna get is ten million marks, however much that is in actual cash, and where can you find a good replacement for her for ten million bucks? And who the fuck is Leonne Warner, anyway? What can she add to us that we don't already have? She better be a keeper, and a good keeper at that, or else I'm going to lose it because of these freaking Armangs!" Armang was a new slang term for players who had once represented Armeia who were now playing in and for Anglatia.

"There's nothing much about Warner except for the fact that she used to be a defensive mid who switched over to CB to get more playing time," Karen said.

"God, I hate those kinds of players," Claudine said, raising her arms in frustration. "Why can't they just stick to playing their natural position and wait for the opportunity to become a starter there? It's not like they're gonna be pressed for time, those guys. Playing out of position isn't gonna help them or their team. Jesus, we're really getting the short end of the stick here now, aren't we?"

"There is literally no one else in the history of Fleftic football that has caused one team this many problems," Marfa observed. "You wouldn't get this kind of shit in Pridnestrovia, mostly because there's no money to be made there and Stepanenko might have you reeducated if you tried to do that kind of shit."

"Ladies, let's all remember to not fall into the trap of hating Isa because of her recent actions," Alex cautioned. "But it is becoming harder and harder by the day."

"Alex, I don't want to sound like a kiss-up, but I agree with you," Karen said. "I liked Isa when she first came here, and of course when she won the title, but her constant moaning about not liking the place and wanting to go back to either Armeia or Anglatia is just getting on my nerves. I honestly think that if we just let her go to whichever club wants her, we'll all be the better for it."

"Amen to that, Karen," Claudine said, raising her glass in a toast. "That said, we will have to play with her on Saturday because the curse has come and taken Yannie's hamstring and your knee, Marfa."

"Please, don't remind me of what happened to my knee, Claudine," Marfa said. "It's horrible."

"You know what?" Alex said. "Let's all just kick back and relax and forget about this thing with Isa for the moment. It's our rest day, after all."

RAYNOR CITY, VALANORA - Pasarga are through to the quarterfinals of the Di Bradini Cup after a lively and gregarious display against an unprepared Abanhfleft.

Miluše Richterová scored a hat-trick and Charmaine Ménard and Svjetlana Varga got their names on the scoresheet on their way to a thorough dismantling of a shoddy Fleftic side.

Kareem Dagen and Lucjo Kleinmann scored little more than consolation goals for the Young Revolutionaries as their cup hopes were once again postponed for the next tournament.

Dagen. back from an ankle injury suffered from the openng game against Gim, actually scored the first goal of the game after he collected Mabel Finnemark's clever through-ball, which split the defense and caused the Pasargan keeper to rush out of his area, a mistake which the Eikborg Club striker took full advantage of to give Abanhfleft a 1-0 lead.

But Pasarga was quick to strike back, and Varga netted the equalizer for the Young Wanderers after some sloppy defending from Ainsley Gibson and Terri Hartin.

Richterová, who had been relatively quiet in this tournament before, then found her rhythm as she scored two quick goals past Ursula Qatintiki just before the stroke of half-time.

Ménard then found the back of the net even as the ball appeared to take a deflection on Hartin's shin that led to Qatintiki reacting too slow to the shot that led to Pasarga's fourth goal.

Kleinmann slammed home from right in front of goal after Irina Babarushchik appeared to have been brought down inside the box by Asztalos Koppány but the referee did not give the penalty and hence allowed play to continue, and even Kleinmann could not miss from three yards.

But it was little too late for Abanhfleft, as Richterová capped off her impressive display by completing her hat-trick via side-footing Marvic Vukelić's corner.

Abanhfleft's quest for a Di Bradini triumph continues, while Pasarga will face San Llera in the quarterfinals.
