Campionato Esportiva XVI

Welcome to the 16th edition of Esportiva's regional championship tournament: the Campionato Esportiva! The National Soccer Teams of 32 nations will soon begin competing for a spot in the final 16. Those final 16 teams will travel to Falatulu for a single elimination tournament to determine the best association football/soccer team in the home region of the reigning World Cup Champions. Will the reigning World Cup and CE champions repeat? Will San José Guayabal bounce back after losing CE and World Cup finals in the same cycle? Will the hosts and reigning CoH champions win on their home soil? Or will one of the other 29 nations rise to the occasion and become the champions of Esportiva? We will find out soon.

Manager: Rodrigo Vaz, 54 (Dreamplanet)
Vaz was hugely successful during Dreamplanet's non league days, taking Sporting CD to the 1984 championship in the Libon Division (now a district division). Vaz, still young, later became manager of Real Island CD, one of the country's finest clubs, in the 1989-90 season, which he won. He cemented his status as Dreamplanet's greatest manager in the 1999-2000 season when he lead Sporting CD to third place. Moving onto FC Libon in 2000-01, he gifted the team with a second-place finish before leaving to become Dreamplanet's first national team manager. A respected name within his country, and, after guiding an aging squad back to the World Cup, in Super-Llamaland as well.

Assistant Coach: Trevor Duncan, 56

Goalkeeping Coach: Michael Kerraway, 55

Defense Coach: Kristopher Sanchez, 49

Attacking Coach: Jeremy Saberhagen, 55

Team Trainer: Jon LeRoux, 57

Advance Scout: Bryant Magnusson, 50

Video Coordinator: Cyrus Vogel, 38

Sabermetrician: Conan Estelline, 37

ALL-TIME TEAM RECORD: 147W-57D-88L (50.34% win percentage)
updated to the end of WC 74
  • 85-28-64 under Bryan Ferguson (one World Cup qualification)
  • 6-2-2 under Arismendy Luteño
  • 29-17-11 under Bogdan Antonescu (two qualifications)
  • 13-3-4 under Carlton Hoover
  • 5-4-1 under Tobyn Clearwater
  • 9-3-6 under Rodrigo Vaz (one qualification)

Background
The Tigers did fairly well for themselves last cycle, qualifying for the World Cup for the first team since the WC71 cycle after two Cups spent at home, but they did so on the backs of a number of aging, now-retired players such as Alex Cartwright, Sebastian Myers, and Sebastian Inriquez. Now, Vaz has decided to use the CE to test out new, younger players to carry on the torch and (hopefully) lead the team back to the Cup, rather than play his strongest lineups. While the team does have a number of NT starters and reserves on it, it's not at all full-strength.

#01 - Lukas BERNHOLM - North Blanton (EST) - 23
A surprising pick to start, it’s the unproven Lukas Bernholm who’ll have the honor of wearing #01. Bernholm isn’t the acrobatic shot-stopper that James Costa is, but he rarely makes mistakes, is strong aerially (not just because of his imposing height), and has captained North Blanton since he was twenty. A fun locker-room presence who gives it all on the pitch and is the favorite to start in a few years.
#12 - Caroline McGUIRE - Jaunepont Herault (USI) - 28
McGuire couldn’t live up to immense expectations with New Llama Gold, but Vaz noticed that her problems were more mental than physical (McGuire suffered several anxiety attacks) and recommended she leave the club. Sure enough, a move to the Sunrise Islands did the trick, and she’s now expected to contribute. Athletic, and capable of stopping most shots, although somewhat of a loner.
#23 - Mark HOROWITZ - Oslerholm Capitols (ARN) - 33
Horowitz has good intuition, strong leadership, and can stop anything near him. Unfortunately, he occasionally falls well short of the ball being near him, and his attempts to save penalties are laughably bad. A late bloomer who's arguably at his peak now.

#02 - LB - Luke SVENSSON - Vargas College - 19
Svensson made headlines for his play in high school, but was determined to finish a degree before he began playing professional football and notably skipped a year of high school to start for the Tigers' best college, Vargas. Quick and composed, Svensson is surprisingly polished and could easily factor into the Tigers' defense during the Qualifiers.
#05 - L/CB - Jake URBAN - Dalen Athletik (ARN) - 26
Urban was expected to break out during WC74 Qualifiers, but instead the defender looked timid and confused. Still fast and strong, especially aerially, the Qualifiers marked the beginning of a very bad few years as he bounced around FLULON and ended up settling in northern club Dalen Athletik. Whether or not the former top prospect can rediscover that spark is anyone’s guess.
#13 - CB - Kurt REICHART - Francesca Orient (BRE) - 25
A tall, hard-nosed defender who tends to rack up cards. After earning a reputation as New Llama's defensive anchor with his play and leadership, he made a move abroad to the A-League. Strong aerially; somewhat but not particularly athletic.
#47 - CB - Troy JORGENSON - Cyclones FC (SLL) - 29
Troy Jorgenson is very athletic - enough to be drafted in the first round of the Llamanean Baseball League Draft, having spent his teenage years roaming center-field and impressing scouts with his speed. After flaming out in the minor leagues, however, he began to work his way up from lower-tier clubs. While he hasn’t put everything together yet, and is still somewhat unpolished, he’s getting there, and should get some match time this cycle.
#28 - LC/RCB - Immanuel KANE - Oslerholm Chariots (SLL) - 31
Despite lacking the physical tools of, say, Jorgenson, the half-Eirelian is incredibly underrated, with great intuition and positioning. A solid man-marker who can lead any back line and is exceptionally polished, Kane should be able to find a spot in the defense - a capable left foot helps his case as well.
#14 - DF - Chris MYERS-BRIGGS - SC Aurora (SLL) - 20
The younger brother (fifth of six children) of previously capped Sagan and Adonis, the more mundanely-named Chris is just as versatile as his two older brothers are, capable of playing any defensive position. A high-octane player who likes to spark attacks when on the wing, but who can also play a more defensive game as a center-back - still, even then, he can often make high-profile mistakes.
#27 - RB - Tristan KARNSTEDT - Cenial United (CEN) - 33
Expected to be one of the leading lights of the Tigers' defense for years to come, Karnstedt instead declined and quickly lost his starting spot to Michael Sorenson. A fantastic attacking wingback, Karnstedt has exceptional stamina, good speed, and is a strong passer. On the defensive end, he's able to hang back and play adequately, making few mistakes but not doing much either. Could improve his work on set-pieces, but overall a solid right-back who knows he'll need to overperform to make the WCQ shortlist.

#16 - DM - Ethan CANDELARIO - Goodfeather FC (NPH) - 25
A bruising, physical midfielder with decent but uninspiring passing touch isn’t the sort of player you’d expect to find on the Tigers. But previous editions of the team’s midfield seemed unable to provide anything in terms of defense (the Tigers’ best midfield pairing, Kyle Sturgeon and Jake Wiggins, were both playmakers who played defense sparingly, a model that recent teams have tried to emulate), and somebody like Candelario should be able to hold down the fort. Will be given a shot, especially after a few solid campaigns in Nephara.
#03 - DM - Nemanja VESELY - 27
The towering yet agile Vesely was a basketball prospect until fourteen, when he picked up a second sport over frustration from not being picked for the highest-caliber youth basketball team in the nation. Quick-tempered and volatile, Vesely nevertheless has a ton of potential and the work ethic needed to reach it. Only a certain type of coach will work with the hot-blooded midfielder, and the wrong team could turn Vesely's untapped potential into a disaster. Athletic and dangerous on set pieces, with strong passing skills, but one who can be easily rattled.
#17 - DM - Jason SANTANA - Free Agent - 20
Santana has had his share of issues off the field. However, at age 20, he seems to have recovered from a brief bout with drug addiction and his best days are still ahead of him. A somewhat quick, technically adept midfielder who's calling card is his stamina and strong positioning, who could get a shot at the National Team if he does well.
#55 - DM/CAM - Harry KARJALAINEN - Free Agent - 18
Karjalainen is quick and not afraid to get physical, but at 18 is very unpolished and tends to rack up cards. The relatively unknown midfielder is hoping to use the Campionato to springboard a career both for club and country.
#29 - CAM/ST - Felix RASMUSSEN - Cenial United (CEN) - 27
Recklessly incisive, Rasmussen is prone to playing out of position. However, he does have the potential to excel in a more free-floating role, as well as the technique and speed to keep up, making him a vital cog to this edition of the Tigers. However, he also possesses a new maturity after spending four years playing abroad in Ceni - while Rasmussen himself still prefers playing everywhere on the pitch, he can confine himself to a more confined position if necessary, and Vaz will appreciate the tactical flexibility Rasmussen brings to the table.
#50 - CAM - James CHEN - Norrion Rovers (EFL) - 28
The previously unheralded James Chen has continued his solid play for Norrion Rovers, flashing signs of potential by coupling devastating playmaking abilities with a very good shot. Still, although he’d like to give 100% every day, growing injury concerns are starting to become a concern, and he arguably wouldn’t have made the team had he not gone off in a Llamaland-Eirelia friendly, scoring a hat trick and assisting two goals in a six-one blowout. Has managed to smooth out some wrinkles in his game and is generally more consistent than the James Chen of four years ago.
#51 - LM/CAM/RM - Morgan HERNANDEZ - Free Agent - 17
The versatile but extremely unproven Hernandez is a huge gamble by Vaz - scouting reports of Hernandez are glowing, calling her a "strong leader" and "a very good playmaker who is versatile", but there's little video to back those up, as Hernandez chose to attend high school. We'll see how things go in training, but Hernandez doesn't figure to play a significant role on the team, leading many to question why she was selected.
#45- LW/LM - Eva VELASQUEZ - AC Bartolome (MIA) - 18
The promising if raw Velasquez is fast and agile. However, while one would expect Velasquez, who trained in AC Bartolome's academy for three years, to adopt a flashier playstyle, she's instead far more direct and focused - although she can use tricks to get out of a pinch, she'll rarely use them if she doesn't have to. Velasquez's shot is somewhat raw, although she is a decent distributor.
#46 - RW/RM - Max QUIRK - Oslerholm United (ARN) - 30
The younger Quirk takes the game far more seriously than his brother - very fast and a composed dribbler, Quirk struggles with his finish but is a decent enough player.

#11 - ST - Ansel PENBROOKE - Longeylin Coast (VIL) - 25
Considered the heir to Cartwright’s throne, Penbrooke has set milestone after milestone. Patistan offered him forty million dollars and he declined to head over to one of the best youth teams in the world. Expected to take over the #10 next campaign, Penbrooke is still very athletic, and maturation in Apox has turned his good touch into a great one. Has become everything Tigers fans dreamed of, and a move to Vilitan promotion contenders Longeylin Coast can only help. However, Penbrooke was considerably shaky when taking over at WC74, and the hope is that a slightly lower-pressure environment might help Penbrooke out.
#20 - ST - Kyle RUTHERFORD - North Isle (EST) - 27
Rutherford, a technically adept, composed striker, is the Plan B if Penbrooke somehow falters again, which is unlikely. The striker was sidelined with injuries for much of his early years as a professional, but seems to have put that behind him - although not as quick, he's still very good in the air and at positioning, and should be a leader in the clubhouse.
#33 - ST/RW - Jarred NASH - Louargat (KRN) - 30
Previously blocked by Eric Hoover when playing for the New Llama Cyclones, Nash was one of a handful of players positively affected by the dissolution of the LFL - after moving to Eastham, everything clicked and he lead the league in goals. Nash’s shot is his centerpiece, and he’s able to use his agility to maneuver towards it, but has earned a reputation as soft and has difficulty scuffling in the box, making him more useful as a winger than a center-forward. Getting his ribs kicked around by an opposing defender for “flopping” took him out for a few months, but he’s back to full strength now.
#31 - ST - Violet TICHELI - AC Bartolome - 22
Ticheli is very fast, technically adept, and a decent shooter, and isn't afraid to get involved in the box. However, she can still easily be pushed around, and her positioning is a bit weak.

San José Guayabal (SJG) National Team

Image

The Guayabalense NT in the last cycle

Winning the Cup of Harmony at home soil was a good element to motivate this national team after a devastating elimination in playoffs of the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, the game proposed by Oliveira and Herrera is a game stile that stills working today, dynamic and offensive but that give some fruits to the NT and the fans in the next cycle, qualifying to the World Cup Finals and winning the Qualifying group for the first time against good rivals like Ko-oren and Abanhfleft who played hard but La Selecta knew how to snatch some key points from their games to qualify as the leader of the group, but that cycle finished early with another Group Stage elimination, but this time we were closer to qualify to the Round of 16 than any other time, despite that the hopes were renewed and the next cycle seemed promising in the horizon.

Those promises about the next cycle weren't wrong, and despite a weak start losing at Estadio Cuscatlán vs Jeruselem, La Selecta managed to recover pretty good and won ten games in the qualifiers, including two victories against Gregoryisgodistan, being the most important one that 1-3 away win at Gregoryisgodistani lands. Qualifying as the first place in the group again and with a good position in the group were enough to feed the hopes to qualify to the Round of 16, and those hopes were confirmed after winning the group unbeaten with just one goal against in a group including Polar Islandstates, Farfadillis and Schottia, then the desired door to the Round of 16 was open and Kandorith was the rival, somehow La Selecta won the game and qualified for Quarter-finals and the illusions appeared among the fans, we were in front of the best national team in the history of San José Guayabal, they made more illusions after winning Cosumar with a lone goal and with that qualifying for Semifinals, expectations and illusions were high and people wanted the final but Eura was in front, the Eurans won all their previous games on that cycle with easiness and big amounts of goals on those games. With a smart sense of the game, La Selecta stood against the Eurans and kept them nil-nil in ninety minutes and then going to the penalty kicks after the Eurans tied the game with a late goal, in a mad penalty kick series, the Eurans won the game, 13-12 on penalties but that wasn't bad for the Guayabalense team, they already made history and they achieved more after winning the third place of the World Cup against Vilita with a 4-2 win.

After a CE that put every Guayabalense to dream with an extraordinary participation, reaching the final for the first time ever, with a splendid offense and a extraordinary defense performance, they were ready to face Nephara, but the dream of winning it came to an abrupt dead end, an horrorific 1-5 defeat finished the wonderful run into the tournament, despite that, people is happy by the fact of reaching a CE final for the first time. Now with WC 74 being hosted back in San José Guayabal, illusion arose at the highest levels, La Selecta didn't disappointed and performed well, beating strong rivals such as Farfadilis, Audioslavia in order to do the dream and achieve the first World Cup Final appearance for La Selecta, a fatidic penalty kick roulette kept the Guayabalenses away from achieving their biggest sporting glory ever. After an intense World Cup, the managers decided to bring for the CE a team fully made from Liga Premier players in order to relax the usual players, except for Leónidas Bregoo and Sebastián Núñez, who will be the experience bulwarks for the new Selecta while a new rising force of players might be the trident who causes danger to the rivals, such as Humberto Santa Cruz, the Liga Premier top scorer, Kevin Santos and Omar El Sayed, both finished into the top 8 of goal scorers this season with them there are more players who this time aims to avenge their loss in the Final of the last edition and try to win the trophy

After undesirable results in the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, La Selecta decided to start a reengineering in its game system, after proving that a good defence is not something from other planet, receiving fifteen goals in fourteen matches during the World Cup 71, a new slightly defensive system was established in the team, featuring for the first time a line of four midfielderss, trying to block the highest number of possibilities of the rival team, also including a rookie into the team, Abraham Terrazas is having his first experience as the goalkeeper of the Starting XI, with one midfielder who can have a rol of defence like Núñez, this team is probably a quite defensive version of La Selecta. A key aspect that changes a bit from the other lineups used throughout the history, is the use of two strikers instead, in order to keep the offensive capacity that has characterized the football of the National Team and maybe the bastion of the whole Guayabalense football.

The "home" roster of SJG features the use three defenders with some experience like James Moreira and Meyson Salume, both can act as key players if we talk about the realization of transitions to offensive plays meanwhile Passarelli is the team sweeper and also most experienced of the team in terms of playing in the international scene, specifically in UICA tournaments. In the midfield we can see a rhombus shaped position of four players, being Saucedo and Bregoo a kind of fake forwards due to the changing role of the tactical system that can feature five forwards in case of need and Núñez together with Valencia can be sort of defence in case of need. In resume this strategy helps in defence and attacking because it can turn into a 3-2-5 in attacking moments or a 5-2-3 in defending moments, creating a complete system that can help the team to achieve victory at any cost.

There are three words to describe the game style of La Selecta being that: efficience, speed and withe, something that makes the team look solid at any time, no matter the game but it is a team that rarely gives up, even if the conditions are totally against, the team tries to score early, to score the highest amount of goals and going decidedly to the front in order to score, to fight with courage every ball and also having a high esteem and sense of unity as a team.

That philosophy of "To Kill or Die" has a formal name, it's name is "Presión Fulminante" (Fulminant Pressure) which means to press the opposition right after losing possession, to press as an organized unit the moment when the team does the transition to defense. The entire team hunts the ball and, in the ideal case, immediately wins it back from the opponent. The aim is to prevent the opponent’s counterattack and to win the ball. People may call it counterpressing but in the end the opponent’s counterattack is pressured, that's Presión Fulminante.

Game style: The game who SJG does is essentially technical, based on the agility of movement from the players, using their intelligence for the game to find lone spaces and perform single passes that are very accurate and "in depth", they like to accumulate players while attacking or using the surprise factor which is use the speed of the players to perform counter attacks that usually have a good level of effectivity, taking in consideration that this is a team who thinks in score the goals as fast as possible instead of defending (Well known as "The Kill or Die Philosophy." Which is the most used tactic on Guayabalense football throughout his history), something that they do even when they face a football powerhouse or a extremely offensive team, no matter the rival, the objective is score the highest amount of goals and win the three points.

In the defence area, they tend to use physical game style in order to set conditions to the rivals, despite that the defenders are of medium height, they are well known for their skill at aerial game, so it is very difficult to beat them, specially in corners or set pieces, expect always fair play from this team, avoiding to do fouls into the last 25-30 meters of their defence area.

Players normally like to do long-distance shots or seek for chances in aerial game via set pieces or corners, especially with Sebastián Núñez and Santa Cruz, who are the tallest players of the entire squad. Still, this team can do some special moves, considering the idea of the team of never give up and trying to be efficient while attacking.

The Managers

Paulo Oliveira 46 Y/O, Nationality: Valladar Image

Strict, offensive and organized are three words that describes the new manager of San José Guayabal National Team, former player of the one time Globe Cup champions, Marinos Metrópolis (He coached on the final series) and them he served to Marinos and helped them to achieve the best positions on the Valladar Liga-1, going to Champions' League berths or Globe Cup berths, his seasons on charge of Marinos showed always a nice display of game, being direct, offensive and with high pressure to the rival defenders, a manager who tends to be strict but motivating to the players of the National Team, Oliveira is one of those managers with a high devotion to football and his environment, specially the ones like the Guayabalense football atmosphere, with a lot of pressure and expectations from the fans and the Football Federation itself. His arrival to La Selecta has already received good criticism, as being "one of the best decisions that the FGF could have made", considering the zestful and strict character of Oliveira, good results can be expected from a renovated National Team.

Alfredo Herrera 68 Y/O, Nationality: Aquillian (Part of Osarius) Image

We've all heard the anecdotes about Aquillian's national football team manager Alfredo Herrera, and how he is sometimes "endearingly zany". His open training sessions during some friendlies, or at tournaments like the the Cup of Harmony or WCQ, reveal some -- but not the full extent of his preparations. He stands on the touchline, barking the same orders over and over until they are followed perfectly. "Retreat! Retreat now!" he barks at his wingbacks during one exercise. "You have less than seven seconds to return or they will pierce the gap!" His barking continues. "Release immediately! No hesitation! No delay! Control, release, move! Control, release, move!" His players are practicing to execute his commands with such speed and efficiency, they appear almost instinctive. The level is intense. He shuffles things around. Rotates players. Alters the tempo. Introduces more rules. Removes rules. The withdrawal, surveying and tinkering process repeats itself several times over before he appears satisfied. "Excellent! This is how we go! This is how we win!" He finally bestows some praise upon his players.

Introduction

The Constitutional Monarchy of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group offering him to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments. A former colonizers ancestral heritage and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this guide basic data information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of his ethnic group or the like. The economy was based on hunting and selling bearskins for the winter season, or the planting and harvesting of grapes or apples during the spring time. The system of government was nonexistent and remained so for a long time, where the Eskimos were the majority before a new ethnic group in the center of the country, which was the group of "Wára-Wára" who ended up being called "Native Guayabalenses.”

Many centuries later, the picture did not change in ethnic background, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much more informed through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, we mean the Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then. The discovery of new cities and new cultures was almost unstoppable, the isolated Eskimos decided to merge into a new society, full of opportunities for everybody. And that hasn’t stopped yet, because more groups came to stay in our nation, coming from the north the Finns, Swedes, Russians and Anglo-Saxons, creating a multicultural society in a big nation, who had a strong sense of unity and brotherhood since the early beginning despite the racial differences.

In the last 200 years, San José Guayabal has suffered drastic changes into his history and social system, being caused by political reasons, who led to three civil wars (1989, 2024, 2047) where the main factor was the wish of liberty and prosperity from a diverse but united nation with strong wishes of success in international issues as business, industries and more specially peace and freedom.

Today, San José Guayabal is a nation that is rising from the ruins by leaps and bounds after the most recent and devastating civil war that put a stop to the tyrannical communist regime of then President Miguel Serrano. In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasingly thriving tourism industry and micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced its breakthrough in the future and seek to overcome adversity to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate geographical features.
The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and extremely volcanic relief, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens, decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. El Valle is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

The North Steppe is the most arid area of the territory, dominated by its large sand dunes, this region has very little rainfall throughout the year and extreme weather in the summer, easily exceeding 42°C at noon and decreasing the 9°C at the night, fauna it’s minimal there except for scorpions and some lizards.

The climate of San Jose Guayabal is generally quite predictable because there are four distinct seasons being these winter (June 21 to September 20), spring (September 21 to December 20), summer (December 21 to March 20) and the autumn (March 21-June 20) while in Rossana (overseas colony) the condition is different because of its location in the northern hemisphere being the winter between December and March, spring between April and June, the summer between July and September while autumn is from October to December. It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the control systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

In terms of natural phenomena we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate. This makes our nation quite prone to seismic events place but do not panic. The nation has high construction standards regarding the prevention of seismic events and is mandatory that each building has evacuation plans which are placed in visible to make easier the evacuation besides making evacuation drills at least two times for year. Note that at least 45% of citizens are people trained to provide first aid, this being part of the given requirements to complete the Students’ Social Service, required for the graduation of students in the education system.

We now turn to other less lethal phenomena, as are the aurora australis and the migration of geese, spectacular events that attracts lots of people. The aurora australis is a phenomenon that occurs mainly from March to September, while maintaining an appropriate intensity to be seen until the end of December, usually can be seen throughout the country, including northern areas like El Roblar or Metapán. The migrating of geese occur during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head north of Esportiva. These spectacles often bring many people to be witnessed, because they have an enormous facility to witness each of these phenomena.

Travel

Visiting San José Guayabal is not a very complicated process, as the provisions of international travel are applied for each foreign visitor. International flights usually land at three airports, one for each egion of the country, being the El Roblar International Airport designated to the west, Luis Barbosa Airport in Vladivostok for the central region and San Salvador International Airport to the east, the latter being the most important because of its location in the capital.

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires and use always your seatbelt, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the beginning of time to the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

This Eskimo tradition of worshiping natural phenomena remained for more than 2500 years until the arrival of Spanish colonizers, who spread a new faith, Christianity in an easy way and without shedding innocent blood by religion. The Guayabalenses have been very receptive to the religion without falling into religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, this being a meeting point of unity and for society.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and Protestantism dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Today the trend remains solid, the population is even more liberal than before in terms of tolerance creeds, admitting any theological thinking according to the Constitution of the Republic, severely condemning any act of censorship of religious expression or fundamentalism religious. Notably, church attendance has been increasing in the last seven years, bringing together a large part of the population; the missions of the churches typically perform community works across the nation or even international level people who need it most.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported your culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, but yes there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally accompaniment to the main course, where it normally waits for all those who eat at the same table finish their plate, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes and should you be invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the Community youth playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you are so want to call, many fans to stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, hypes, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the bars organized teams or selection, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the national team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, as if they are the perpetrators, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 crowns (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if they occur fatalities.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hatred and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that stadiums are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Spanish Long Version - For Formal Acts and/or Ceremonies

¡Despierta, Guayabalense, del sueño de la muerte
en el que te sumieron los tiranos!
Ahora o nunca, fórjate otro destino
ante el cual se inclinen tus enemigos.

Ahora o nunca

English Long version - For Formal Events and/or Ceremonies

Awaken thee, Guayabalense! wake up from deadly slumber
The scourge of inauspicious tyrannies
And now or never to a bright horizon clamber
That shall to shame put all your enemies.

It's now or never that we prove to the world
That in these veins still flows Guayabalense blood
And in our hearts for ever we glorify a name
Triumphant in battles, the name of Ramírez.

Behold, imperial shadows, Barbosa, Hernández, Suárez
At the Guayabalense nation, your mighty progeny
With arms like steel and hearts of fire impetuous
"Live in liberty, or die" that's what they all decree.

Home Stadium

Image

The crowning jewel in The Sarian is Home Covert, home to the most successful team in Sarian History, FC Chippenham who have won both the Super League and the Florican Shield a record of five times. Seating just over eighty-two thousand spectators, Home Covert is the largest stadium in the archipelago. Due to the stadiums size, versatility and unique architecture the stadium has been used many times in international events , including the premier Beltane Cup final, and the Third Place Playoff of the 57th Baptism of Fire.

Home Covert was erected in 2127 and was designed by architect, Kieran Karsh. Karsh, whose other works include the Beltek Tour in Lavington and more recently Salvador FC's Poseidon's Palace, which is of course in Port Salvador. The stadium was designed to represent the might and continuing prosperity of 2120's Sarian, and many years later it is still viewed as one of the best looking stadiums in the federation.

Home Covert is found in the Central District of Chippenham, meaning that it is easily accessed by both the underground, overground and capital bus service. Commute by car, while possible, is not encouraged due to the high congestion and high road tariffs in the former capital.

The central location of the stadium is beneficial for travelling fans, being just seventeen minutes on the Overground from Chippenham Central Airport, with a direct train. The location of the stadium also means there is a wide range of accommodation for fans, officials and players alike. Ranging from cheap SariMotels, which have rooms from as little as ɨ7 a night to the luxury branded Maiden Hotels, which cost considerably more.

Tourist attractions around the stadium include Parliament Square, Pitaluga Street, Hopton Palace and the Chippenham Eye, in addition to a number of museums, retired Naval Vessels and impressive skyscrapers that mean you can indulge in both Sarian Culture as well as the culture of football, and even make playing The Sarian part of a longer holiday, rather than just popping over for the match.

Spiel: Time for our 13th appearance in the Campionato Esportiva. Olim Benzari brings a settled, experienced team who can genuinely back themselves as one of the favourites to go out at win it. Solomon Etezadi, now the record cap holder for Apox seems to have been around forever, and although he's reaching the tail end of his career, he is still a towering figure. A good run could see Kaj Aurora reach 100 caps, while Luxulya St. Cleer is almost guaranteed to reach 50 caps, which is the leat she deserves, as one of the best players in the team and the vice-captain. Racao presents the squad that achieved a third place finish (without a single ranking point!) in the 14th Campionato Esportiva.

RACAO ROSTER FOR CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA XVI>>>

GOALKEEPERS >>>
SAKOTO >>> GK (28) Sakoto is one of Racao's most experienced goalkeepers. Despite being one of the older players on Racao's team, Sakoto still possesses reflexes and wit. Sakoto, like many of the Racaoan players on this roster, grew up playing football on the streets of the slums outside Racao's major cities. Although the culture at the time encouraged goal-scorers more than goal-tenders, Sakoto quickly discovered a natural talent for goalkeeping. A scout for Soalara Strike noticed Sakoto's abilities and signed him on. He won the national championship twice with that club before moving on to Port Louis Lightning, where he is today.

Hassan HIRANA >>> GK (26) Although Hassan Hirana is an up-and-coming goalkeeper, he has taken second fiddle in the Racaoan team to the more experienced Sokoto. He definitely has good shot-blocking skills, and far and by large, he is an excellent goalkeeper.

Trojana RAKOHELY >>> GK (31) Trojana Rakohely is somewhat of an old geezer on the Racaoan side. Having just barely made the team, Rakohely's skills are growing old and he no longer possesses the quick reflexes he had in his youth.

DEFENDERS >>>
Andrian RAKOTONIRINA >>> RB (29) Andrian Rakotonirina brings some experience to the defensive side of the field. He has played for several Racaoan clubs and knows his way around several strategies. His guidance will help the younger defenders when they need it.

Justin RABELOMASINA >>> RB (23) Justin Rabelomasina might be the total opposite of Chris Rakotomaharo. While Rakotomaharo specializes in large kicks, Rabelomasina specializes in short, precise passes that work nearly every single time. He helps to maintain a defensive field around the goal which almost never allows shots through. Good dribbling and pickup abilities help Rabelomasina to keep the ball away from the goal. Rabelomasina also has good concentration and will use them to complement his passing and dribbling and his fellow defenders' good attributes.

Christopher RAKOTOMAHARO >>> CB (21) One of two teenage prodigies starting on Racao's national team, Chris Rakotomaharo is a speedy defender with a tight control on the ball. His kicking abilities are legendary on the Racaoan team and feature strongly in the defensive strategy of the team. His fellow defenders act like a funnel, sending the ball towards him so he can send the ball far away from the goal. If that doesn't work, he is more than adept at dribbling, and keeping with the opportunistic Racaoan team, he makes use of his many skills to keep the ball from penetrating the goal. His versatility and quick thinking make him an asset to any team that has him.

Ciriaque RASOA >>> CB (26) Ciriaque Rasoa is a competent defender. He lacks creativity, however, and sticks to by-the-book strategies, something that doesn't fare well for Racao's current strategy.

Masibo RALAVANOA>>> LB (27) Masibo Ralavanoa is a good all-around player - he has decent stamina, decent passes, decent blocks, and decent stealing. However, the team strategy did not call for a jack-of-all-trades, and Manendry fit the bill for a left back better than Ralavanoa did.

Félix MANENDRY >>> LB (25) Félix Manendry is a solid and consistent defender. Skilled at passing and retrieval, Manendry is willing to take risks. Although he is a left back, Manendry often deviates from his assigned position, and he is also capable of playing center back. He often takes control of the ball right after the opposing team penetrates the midfield, passing it back to his teammates before they send it wide into the midfield. His defensive style is on the border between creative and by-the-book. When an opportunity arises for either situation, Manendry is not hesitant to use his skills to pick up on that opportunity. Manendry is currently with a club in Port Louis.

MIDFIELDERS >>>
MOSA >>> CM (28) CPT Mosa, Racao's most experienced midfielder, still has years left in him. Despite flagging stamina, Mosa knows how to connect with the ball. His main asset is his versatility. Whether on defense or on offense, Mosa knows the right tricks to get the ball where he wants it to go. He is a prolific scorer despite being in the midfield. Strikers Ipirina and Arivelo are often at the receiving end of his passes for a creative goal shot, and Mosa is adept at getting that perfect shot in line for them. His experience shows on the playing field. Mosa is described as eother a creative midfielder or a midfield general player, and he has the abilities to fit both profiles. Indeed, he does create many scoring opportunities for the trio of young strikers. At the other end of the stick, though, Mosa directs play in the midfield and scoops up the opponents' shots. He is a confidence booster for the younger members of the team. Mosa definitely deserves his captainship because of the wide range of abilities he possesses.

Nizar AMADA >>> LM (25) Nizar Amada just barey made the Racaoan team - he is not very accurate with passes, and he doesn't has good defense or stealing abilities. Despite these failings, overall he is a decent player, yet not decent enough for the starting squad.

Albert MANASOA >>> LM (24) Albert Manasoa is a good complement to Mena Rabalasoa on the other side of the field. Manasoa's best attribute is arguably his stealing ability. Opposing defenders will not be safe if they are in Mansoa's zone; he will find a way to send the ball to Mosa or the offensive end of the field, like teammate Rabalasoa. His stamina along the left flank also helps him to maintain a good defensive posture. Manasoa, when in his element, is virtually unstoppable.

Rado SALIM >>> CM (24) Rado Salim is on the midline between a somewhat good player and a good player. He just needs a little more development. Indeed, he is fairly competent on the defensive side of the midfield, but sometimes, he cracks under pressure. Maybe in a cycle or two he will be promoted to the starting squad.

Masibo ANDRIANAJAKA >>> CM (24) Masibo Andriananaka has the mixed blessing of sharing the center midfield with the venerable Mosa. However, his skills are up to the task. Known for his box-to-box style, Manasoa is as equally adept on the defense as he is on the offense. Extremely mobile and blessed with good stamina, Andrianajaka possesses the qualities he needs to shore up both the defensive and offensive ends of the midfield. Arguably, Andrianajaka is the best box-to-box player Racao has ever produced.

Tahiry MAHAZAKA >>> CM (27) Tahiry Mahazaka is one of Mosa's and Masibo Andrianajaka's colleagues. He is a bit older than Andrianajaka but his stamina is falling and he is not aggressive enough, or at least according to team management. He will probably be subbed in if the team needs to take a more defensive posture.

Mena RABALASOA >>> RM (27) Mena Rabalasoa is an excellent right-winger. He is a flank player who possessive great pickup abilities. These abilities, as well as his legendary speediness, serve him well near the pitch boundaries, where he can force the ball towards the center of the midfield, allowing his teammates the opportunity to set up a goal-scoring play. He has the experience and gut instinct which allows him to predict a good next move, which allows him to foresee opponents' moves and to be there before they know they will be there. All of these qualities make Rabalasoa an excellent defensive midfielder.

Vincent RAHARISON >>> RM (28) Vincent Raharison is one of the more experienced midfielders, along with Mosa. However, he never was a good as Mosa, and despite being a good midfielder, a slightly younger and faster Mena Rabalasoa took the spot.

STRIKERS >>>
Ryan ARIVELO >>> ST (21) An up-and-coming striker, Arivelo is one of the youngest starters (and, indeed, players overall) on the Racaoan national team. Currently, he plays for Cenial United of Ceni; he formerly played for Once Municipal of San Jose Guayabal. Arivelo is known for his speed, endurance, passing, and unorthodox tactics. Indeed, he often takes risks and is rewarded with creative shots that go into the goal. He is a team player and despite his individuality, he is more than willing to work with his other teammates to score goals, even if it is at the expense of his own pride. Arivelo is on track to be one of the best players Racao has ever seen.

Pascale RAVELONAJATO >>> ST (27) Pascale Ravelonajato is a conventional striker. He is at least competent and knows what he is doing. His shots can be off target, but for the most part they are not shabby.

Aristotle IPIRINA >>> ST (23) Aristotle Ipirina is in the class of Ryan Arivelo. The two players have many similarities: both are young, risk-taking strikers. What sets Ipirina apart, however, is his shot-making ability. His risks are not in shots but in his position. Ipirina has a great mental acuity and can compute the best angles for shots while on the field (as evidenced by his name). When he gets in position, the ball almost always scores points for the Racao side. Ipirina also has the endurance to make it through a long match and the confidence to back himself up.

Mark VELONIRINA >>> ST (27) Mark Velonirina is by most conventional standards, an excellent striker. He has accuracy and power. Indeed, he led his team in Saint-Denis to the championships. However, team management decided to adopt a more risky approach rather than the stolid play Velonirina is used to.

Arman RAKOTOARISOA >>> ST (26) A fairly competent striker, Rakotoarisoa excels in accurate shots. He is a little bit slower than his peers but he does a good job with what he has. This, unfortunately, was not enough to earn him a place on the starting squad.

Silvëre RAVALOMANANA >>> ST (23) Completing Racao's trio of young strikers is Silvëre Ravalomanana. Unlike his peers Ipirina and Arivelo, though, Ravalomanana's specialty is outwitting defenders. He is extremely flexible with the ball and his dribbling and faking skills are second to none. No defender can stop his movement. After he is through all defenders, Ravalomana will either attempt a straight-up shot or pass to teammates Ipirina or Arivelo. Considering his accuracy, Ravalomanana is often the top choice to take penalty kicks. Ravalomanana also performs well under pressure, as a good striker should.

COACHING STAFF >>>
SOJA >>> Manager (37) Soja is probably one of the most-known footballers in Racao, and he is definitely a household name. A former striker and captain, Soja led the Racao national team and the Soalara Strike team until he retired from playing a few years ago. He has since turned his attention to coaching. Soja prefers to have innovative strategies rather than more conventional ones. The 3-4-3 approach that the team currently takes is his trademark style. Soja emphasizes personal fitness as well as opportunism and creativity. He is an extreme confidence booster and the players are proud to have him leading their team. He is an extremely popular coach, and inspires the team to do well. Apart from making lineup choices, Soja is also responsible for financial issues, travel, and other arrangements.

Robert JOSOA >>> Head Assistant Coach (38) Robert Josoa, another former player (a midfielder) from Soalara Strike, is responsible for more of the day-to-day activities of the team. He leads practices and ensures that the players are trained adequately before the match. He helps Soja implement general team strategy and also oversees the assistant coaches that train the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers. Josoa is also respected by the players and generally offers good tips for their improvement. He is interested in the team's welfare and will go far to ensure that they will win.

Dr. Hery TOLOLAHY >>> Medical Director (41) Hery Tololahy oversees trainers and physicians that make up the Racaoan national team. The son of the first real sports doctor in Racao, Tololahy followed in his father's path, studying at the Port Louis University and gaining admission to a prestigious program in the Kytler Peninsulae. As part of his job as the medical director, Tololahy treats injuries and takes steps to help them team avoid injuries. He also helps the team to maintain their energy and stamina and regain lost body fluids. On the side, Tololahy also runs clinics in Racao for aspiring footballers and other athletes on the importance of medicine.

STRATEGY >>>
The Racaoan strategy for this tournament will be a versatile format that aims for effective coverage of the entire field to gain possession. Racao will adopt a slightly aggressive but balanced strategy that emphasizes control of the midfield. Starting with the 3-4-3 position, the Racao team will develop the offense by tactical use of midfield plays. If a team manages to get through the midfield, the defense and goalkeeper are more than able to handle them, although a midfielder may be shunted towards the defensive end of the field in case of this scenario. However, with a strong midfield, this scenario is unlikely, but the team will be able to deal with this occasion. At the offensive end of the field, shot-making and accuracy are emphasized. If the team is behind, similar to strategy for defense, the midfield is capable of going on the offense. When this occurs, the two center midfielders will fan out towards the opponents' penalty box. This flexible approach ensures that the team is not caught off guard by offensive maneuvers and that goals can be made with relative ease. After the team's disastrous campaign in World Cup 70, Soja decided to tone down his' side's propensity for offense and instead focus on man-to-man defending, more flexible midfield strategies, and less reliance on the strikers to lead the team to victory. Depending on the results of this CE campaign, Soja might decide to make some changes to the formation, including adding additional midfielders and removing strikers.

Here is the Gregoryisgodistan soccer team's roster. Our team is nicknamed the Foot Slaves. Our style modifier is -5

Head Coach: Secret Police Agent Dominic Button
Assistant Coaches: Slave Beater 8AUSUJA and Horse Beater LOICHESDRACKX394EUD

Gregoryisgodistani names have the title first, which is usually whatever job they have. Then comes either the government ID sequence (for commoners) or the name (for government VIP's.) If that is the same, they are the same person even if the title is different. However, government VIPs can change their name whenever they want.

All players play domestically in the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League except as noted. Only government VIPs are permitted to play club soccer outside Gregoryisgodistan. All clubs are accurate as of the last UICA cycle.

Lineup:

GK Prune Farmer 3818F - Prune Farmers FC (Age 21)
DL Police Agent Jorge Warlord - FC 17 June (Age 28)
DC Enemy Crusher Fatty Footy - AC Enemy Crushers (Age 23)
DC Prune Farmer HUXU88238ASF - Prune Farmers FC (Age 24)
DR Slave Catcher I913AFBSBFI239 - Police Squad (Age 26)

Bench:

GK TV Repairman 99SFIDSF - November 5 SC (Age 20)
GK Youth IKDUCHALAD - Coastal Soccer Club (Age 15)
DL/DC Youth XILE42 - FC 17 June (Age 17)
DC Prune Farmer LISHERWIZE - Prune Farmers FC (Age 20)
DC Police Officer YSHERKOW91239 - Police Squad (Age 26)
DR Slave Beater YUSEAXA - FC 17 June (Age 23)
ML Hacker Fred'); DROP TABLE Rosters;-- - Rouyn-Noranda Coal Diggers FC (Quebec) (Age 25)
ML/MR Pervert Chaser KIS9DLLMZMAABDB - Missile Minders (Age 29)
MC/OMC/DMC Slave Beater SUAXMC91 - FC 17 June (Age 25)
FW Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Robert Possibe - Real Campo Grande (Valladares) (Age 26)
FW Soccer Captain Laredo Potato - London FC (Quebec) (Age 32)

Notes: For the first time in a long time, Soccer Captain Laredo Potato will not be in the regular lineup. His skills are in decline as evidenced by his poor showing at World Cup 72, and he is no longer in the starting lineup. Obviously he no longer is captain either.... Youth IKDUCHALAD is the youngest player ever to be named to a Gregoryisgodistani senior squad, but as the third-string goalkeeper, it is unlikely he will ever play. Indeed, behind two young goalkeepers on the depth chart, he may never play.... This is a very young back line as three of the four starters (plus the starting defensive midfielder) retired following World Cup 72.... Soldier 0EDCK13DHI is one of two members of Military FC not to be killed in the Great War, mainly because he was playing with the national team.... As part of an effort to have all citizens identify with Lord Almighty Gregory, the Gregoryisgodistani government eliminated birthdays except for Lord Almighty Gregory's, and all citizens will see their ages increase on June 1, the Gregoryisgodistani New Year. Lord Almighty Gregory's Birthday is June 17. All citizens must give him a present.

OOC: If you don't get the hacker reference, see this comic. If you still don't get it, entering that name as a database input in certain programming languages will delete all the rosters from the file. Feel free to RP this crashing your computers or something like that.

Uniforms (by Libertad Sportswear):
Image

From left to right, our home kit, our away kit, and our third kit (in case of clash.)

Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the smelliest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. Also, if you are going to refer to my nation by a different name for IC reasons (like Gregoryisnotgodistan) please either TG me or leave an OOC note saying you are referring to Gregoryisgodistan. I frequently search for mentions of my nation, but if it's not mentioned by name, that doesn't help. So either mention it by name in an OOC note or TG me to give me a heads up. You don't need to wait for permission with the TG, but please send it so I can respond to the RP. Also, striking out the "isgod" part (as in Gregoryisgodistan) causes it to not show up on the search, so this will not fulfill the notification requirement. However, feel free to use that style as long as you either mention me by name without the strikethrough in the same post or TG me to let me know about the post. And don't flagrantly violate the laws of Gregoryisgodistan while in Gregoryisgodistan and expect to get away with it. Taunting us with chants of "coconut" or shirtless fans while we are playing away or at neutral sites is fine and encouraged, but if you try it in Gregoryisgodistan, those fans are probably going to die. Painfully. Which is fine by me if it’s OK with you. TG me if you have questions as to what is flagrant and what isn’t. Also, no completely unrealistic scoring events such as 80 meter goals.

BANGUELA

Colours - Red and black
Trigramme - BNG

Manager - Joao Ferreira
Captain - Djalma Yaba

Nickname - Os Gnus
Record InternationalDjalma Yaba, 44 caps
Record ScorerRui Mokanga, 22 goals

Style Mod - +1
Record - 20 wins – 10 draws – 16 losses in 46 games
Goal Tally72-60

WC 73 - Did not qualify
CE XV – Quarterfinals
WC 74 – Group Phase

WC Rank: 47 – Esp Rank: 12

The qualification to the World Cup will be recognised as a pivotal point in the history of Banguelan football in any future textbook. Even if the tournament itself saw Os Gnus pick up not a single point, all three opponents had to fight till the last whistle to take home victory and doing so against the cream of the crop should be considered no mediocre performance. It was the result of six years with a highly positive growth curve, the unknowing amateurs that first set foot in the Baptism of Fire evolving into a side that managed to avoid the predicate of ‘admirable loser’ on the biggest stage of all. Even if we lost. And were slightly admirable in our attempts. Ok, maybe we deserved that predicate, but we weren't wiped off the pitch nor the freak exotics.

Joao Ferreira was also clever enough not to cruise on the results but to recognise that this was both an end and a starting point at the same time. An excellent first generation has done its thing, opened the door to the international debate with a gutsy, raw style of football, staging a 5-3-2 that took no hostages but rather made the most of an underdog role. A procedure that allowed Os Gnus to keep better sides at bay and, a painful San Jose Guayabal trashing aside, walk off the field with pride every time.

But one downside at performing well as underdog is that you lose that predicate. It is time for a new system, manned by new names who will not only manage to hold on to the acquired spot amongst the greats but also enlarge their scope and capacities. As such, Joao Ferreira does not approach this tournament as a point of revenge against the painful exit of last time, but rather as a preparation for the 2014 World Cup. Even if this tournament is still forty months away at this point, that moment will mark ten years of Banguelan football. Many of the great names of the initial BoF selection will have retired and this is the excellent stage for those who want to take their place to show they’re worth it.

As such, do not expect a fixed selection for the qualification process. Joao Ferreira will send out invitations to eighteen to twenty players for every game, honing his group for a possible finals and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. This will allow us to see the new way of playing envisaged, not only executed by the returning international stars but also a warm welcome to many of the lesser known diamonds that currently still ply their trade in the domestic Superliga.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Sure
Godmod scoring events: Please, not
RP injuries to my players: Fine, but not beyond the scope of the tournament
Godmod injuries to my players: Don’t
Hand out yellow cards to my players: All right
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes, but only one
Godmod other events: If it’s funny

General note of advice - please read my previous RP, it should contain a line-up.
Also note that most of the names are one. It makes little sense to say "Mata" when referring to "Ze Mata". Colloquially, one can say "Ze".

Expect line-ups to be given ahead of every separate match. One can find more information in both my World Cup roster or in the (pretty exhaustive) thread on Banguela Sports.

FROM THE DESK OF ROSS HORN
Manager, The Sarian National Team

John,

I am growing increasingly concerned about the state of the National Team and the national game.

As you well know, we laid out a ten year plan to put Sari football back on the map. Whilst I didn't expect it to be followed to the letter, it was with great concern and frustration that I found out we would be participating in the Campionato. Originally, you and I had decided to forgo the Campionato, in order to allow the team to come together both through playing with each other domestically and through international training camps for the two years preceding the World Cup Qualifiers.

Instead, you decided to 'chuck us in the deep end'. Whilst this may hold internal logic for you, it was decided in the State of Sarian Football conference, which both you and I attended, that it would be detrimental to the rehabilitation of the game to compete in the tournament. You need to remember that people look back in fondness at the days when we competed in the World Cup finals, so to see a group of what are essentially amateurs (minus one season of the SariLeague) may demoralise the fan base, and once again take money out of the sport.

Additionally, a key part of our strategy was to have a large number of our national team play overseas in order to aid their development. It is firmly my belief that my time abroad, and the time of some of my teammates abroad, is what allowed us to do so well following the Baptism of Fire. Therefore, I am naturally concerned that a poor showing in the Campionato will put teams off buying and investing in our players.

Naturally, I am doing all I can to right this, but I believe you have made a terrible error by entering us in this competition. I therefore, regrettably, feel that the direction of The Sarian Football Federation would be better suited under different leadership.

Shale has placed more emphasis on defensive discipline and tactical flexibility than late-Riether's aggressive, flowing game. But the side's greatest strength remains its pace down the wings and up front, as well as the solid spine it's built on.

* Ashdown takes penalties, most free-kicks and corners.

*** One per match.

Reinhard SHALE - 52
Manager

Summary When Riether's shock resignation was announced, Shale was the leading candidate to take over. The first manager to win the Premiership title with two clubs, he's taken in broadly successful stints with Maximum Rovers, AFC Treason, the Buyan national team and Crisisbless. The press love him, and generally speaking, so do players.

Michael BRANDON - 39
Assistant Manager

Summary One of the best players of Nephara's formative years, Brandon was a model professional as a player and a stalwart holding midfielder of rare ability on the pitch. With a keen intellect, eye for tactics and dispassionate, objective view of modern football, he was a natural choice for management. Has a marked Euran accent from spending his entire senior career with Directus.
1 - Isadora CARAVELLA - 31 - Image Sabrefell Moths
12 caps, 2 clean sheets

Summary An excellent shot-stopper in the vein of most Nepharim goalkeepers, Caravella is relatively weak coming out for crosses but otherwise fairly well-rounded. She is, in fairness, a little overconfident with her feet, but that hasn't lead to catastrophe yet for the national team. Caravella has taken her chances where they've come, including two World Cup matches in light of Ballard's suspension, and now looks set to take the reins for herself.

12 - Lind PRESSINGER - 28 - Image Sabrefell Athletic
9 caps, 1 clean sheets

Summary Sabrefell local Pressinger had one match to impress after international goalkeeper Seb Seward had a couple of poor matches and was dropped. He seized the moment and never let go, securing his reputation as an acrobatic shot-stopper, brave coming out for crosses and intelligent distributor, relatively comfortable with the ball at his feet. Pressinger is a very strong goalkeeper and only getting better with time, having started the entire Trindl Cup.

20 - Matt VINTNER - 26 - Image Brinemouth
Uncapped

Summary Vintner is a modern goalkeeper entirely at ease sweeping out from the back, and his excellent distribution skills don't exactly hurt either. But, more importantly, he's still an excellent shot-stopper who has established himself as Brinemouth's number 1. He's set for a bright future in what looks to be a hotly contested goalkeeping position.
2 - Sasha CHRISTENER - 29 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Right-back
94 caps, 5 goals
Summary
Christener has single-handedly restored order to a notoriously unreliable rightback position. A brave overlapping fullback with quick, clever movement, an eye for a cross and, when necessary, the ability to shut down a winger. An intelligent all-rounder with that one universally redeeming feature - pace - making her an excellent rightback. Lost her starting role during qualification, and then won it back to start every game in the World Cup.

3 - Nikita GRIFFITHS - 28 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Left-back
32 caps, 1 goal
Summary
The classic kind of leftback, Griffiths is ridiculously quick, has a seemingly limitless engine and loves to knock the ball past her marker. The technique isn't quite up to scratch yet, but she is an international-class fullback without a doubt. The only problem is that Nephara, right now, somehow has about eight leftbacks of genuine class - still, Griffiths' performances for the Moths and her willingness to gel breezily with the team chemistry set her in a class of her own as the frontrunner to replace Stockinger.

5 - Calliope KATSKALIDIS - 27 - Image AFC Treason
Centre-back, defensive midfielder
58 caps, 5 goals
Appearance
5'11", swarthy and with short, thick, wavy hair. Scar on one cheek.
Summary Katskalidis has come a long way. Her debut, four years ago, came too soon for her - her decision-making is still questionable at times - but the physical side of the game is where she's comfortable. A proper Nepharim centre-back, unafraid to get stuck in, and even if her tackles aren't the cleanest they're definitely effective at stopping someone dead in their tracks. A mainstay through qualifying.

6 - Daniel KRUSE - 29 - Image Firewood City
Centre-back, left-back
64 caps
Summary
A quietly intelligent, composed young defender, Kruse is the unlikely perfect foil to Belfast, but arguably the weak point of the side. Struggles with Firewood City in the LigAnaia have shown him what it's like to deal with adversity, although he occasionally dwells too much in possession or thought. Still, he's calm under pressure and his feet are easily quick enough to compensate for the captain's. As far as the future goes, he struck up a great partnership with the rough-and-tumble Katskalidis during the Trindl Cup. That said, he was exceptionally poor at times during the World Cup, and this will be regarded as his time to step back up to the plate.

17 - Gareth WESTMEAD - 23 - Image Violence Chariots
Right-back
Uncapped
Summary
Surplus to requirements at Maximum Rovers, Rosewood found plenty of suitors but just one that would give him the first-team football he needed. As it happened, he excelled at North Laithland, his pace and stamina gelling well with the energetic Spiders. Well-rounded and with a slightly violent streak, he's been well-suited to the Cormorants and has fit in perfectly in the past.

18 - Kieran RITTER - 28 - Image Bastion
Centre-back
33 caps, 2 goals

Summary A hard man who might well get his first chance to start consistently. Ritter is a proper, no-nonsense defender who doesn't consider his job done at the end of the game unless he's covered with dirt and, if possible, blood. No quarter is given or asked, and he's pretty quick, too. Did his part in the World Cup.

19 - Scylla VYNTRA - 25 - Image AFC Treason
Right-back, left-back
29 caps, 3 goals
Summary
Entirely two-footed, immensely talented, ear-marked for success. Vyntra's a hard-working Laithlander of Greek extraction who fought her way into a starting place at Serpentine as a teenager and never let go, eventually winning a big-money move to AFC Treason. Equally capable on either flank, Vyntra runs all match, fights hard to work her way up the pitch and tackles hard. Played every minute of the World Cup, scored the winner against Eura and netted the decisive fifth Nepharim penalties against both Ko-oren and San Jose Guayabal - Vyntra was most people's choice as Player of the Tournament.

22 - Malachite SCHARNER - 24 - Image Crisisbless
Centre-back
14 caps, 1 goal
Summary
6'2" and covered in tattoos, with a nose stud and a fauxhawk... Scharner is quite a cultured, technical defender for someone who looks faintly like a death metal band's bassist. That in mind, she'll still flatten anyone who needs flattening. A somewhat surprising choice initially, Scharner saw her chance and grabbed it with both hands at both club and country level to become the undisputed partner of Katskalidis in the centre of defence.
4 - Tanith RAINSFORD - 27 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë
Holding Midfielder
51 caps, 3 goals
Summary
Rainsford has learned from the best. Direct understudy to Roque Acosta and finding plenty of time on the pitch thanks to Treason's obsessive desire to fight on as many tournaments as possible, a failure to even qualify for UICA was Rainsford's cue to depart. Immensely talented, a solid anchor woman and with a stunning passing range, it may have taken a while for Rainsford to get a cap but there is no doubt she's up for the task now. The one weakness? She's not the fastest, but even then her ability to read the game usually compensates.

7 - Adnan SZALAI - 23 - Image Gwinevra Barbarians
Right Midfielder
24 caps, 8 goals
Appearance
5'8", and all lean muscle. Haircuts tend to be short and of varying quality.
Summary Szalai has been a revelation of recent times, a winger of simply devastating effect bombing down the right flank to cause havoc and destruction along the wing. Two-footed, Szalai has a fairly orthodox skillset and natural inclination but will gladly cut inside and shoot when it suits him, and he's good at that, too. He's still young, of course, but he's got the potential to be world-class - just his decision making needs a touch of work, and while he doesn't lack for effort in defence, he's clumsy at best when it comes to tackles. Now the most expensive Nepharim in history, as Gwinevra were persuaded to part with 30 million pounds for his services. The most recent ANL1 Player of the Season.

8 - Elaine ASHDOWN (vc) - 30 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Central Midfielder
105 caps, 34 goals
Appearance
5'8" of sleek, lean muscle, with black hair cut to the shoulder.
Summary One of the leading lights of recent history, Elaine Ashdown has gone from strength to strength. An all-rounder who devotes everything to the team with good pace, limitless stamina, two good feet, decent strength, genuine tenacity and football intelligence, a fine tackle, an eye for goal and a spectacular passing range make her an essential part of the team, first name on the sheet every time. In her first tournament as captain, she lifted the World Cup.

11 - Andrea CAWDOR - 27 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Left Winger
61 caps, 15 goals
Appearance
5'3" and lithe, with dark brown shoulder-length braids.
Summary Cawdor went from obscurity with Crisisbless United to perpetual LigAnaia title-chasers Hastmead Diamante. Admittedly, this was probably because they lost Tanya Bottlegreen and wanted the closest thing to Tanya Bottlegreen they could find. Cawdor is scarily quick, one of the best in the world at the timeless 'knock ball past fullback and run really fast after it' strategy and lethal both while crossing and going for goal, though she lacks Bottlegreen's enviable two-footedness. Still, she's determined not to stay in her fellow winger's shadow. This job got easier when Bottlegreen retired after the World Cup, but now she has Vesper's challenge to fend off.

13 - Cardinal BELGRAVE - 25 - Image Violence Chariots
Right Midfielder
2 caps
Summary
A quick, dynamic winger who practically sets the grass ablaze once he's run across it, Belgrave is widely considered to be really unlucky to be in the generation that spawned Adnan Szalai (see also: Igrene Cantor). That said, he'll still play a strong part for the Cormorants going forward, and he has no intention of letting up just because he's undoubtedly second in line.

14 - Auburn TARRANT - 27 - Image Crisisbless
Central Midfielder
14 caps, 3 goals
Summary
A hard-running but very technical midfielder, Tarrant was the first Nepharim to leave the Project +90 nest and her formative experiences took place at Extreme Hills, which gave her a chance to thrive in the Premiership. A genuine box-to-box midfielder who'll make her presence felt all over the pitch, great both passing and taking shots but attracting yellow cards like moths to a flame. She's no Ashdown, but who is?

16 - Lienke VESPER - 25 - Image AFC Treason
Left Midfielder
22 caps, 4 goals
Summary
Vesper is a striking presence on the football pitch and models extensively off it, but the Laithlander is as hard-bitten as anyone from that region and won't compromise an inch on the wing. Has an easy stride that belies her ability to suddenly ramp up the pace, and her crossing is frankly terrifying, but she likes to test the goalkeeper from distance as well. Very good friends with Vyntra - they started together at Serpentine, and now they're reunited with Treason and the national team.

23 - Marijana KURALAY - 26 - Image Chatswood
Holding Midfielder
15 caps, 1 goal
Summary
Born abroad but living in the Northern Vale since the age of 3, Kuralay has more flair (any?) than most holding midfielders, and is happy to play a box-to-box role. But in a 4-4-2 formation, she's more likely to be the one sticking behind. Her passing is straightforward, her work ethic is through the roof and her tackling can be tidy or professional as the situation demands. Inspires a lot of comparisons to Logan Murdoch.
9 - Chrysanthe SCAFIDIS - 24 - Image Brinemouth
Striker
Uncapped
Summary
Something of a dark horse choice for the squad, Scafidis is an emerging talent who announced herself as the only real talent in Cranequin City, where she was fortunately only on loan. If she can do that for a team as bad as City, her parent club are licking their lips. Scafidis is tall, powerful and fast, a ruthless force of nature up front, and she's definitely in the mix to compete for a starting berth in this side.

10 - Theodora COVENANT - 27 - Image Trothwands Evolution
Striker
47 caps, 24 goals
Summary
Blindingly quick and remarkably composed in front of goal, Covenant broke through as a teenager and wanted to see what life was like abroad, paving the way for an early transfer away to Osarius. Can play off the shoulder of the last man, but even happier given the trust to float around and play in her support. In a far more fluid-looking Nepharim attack, Covenant should thrive ghosting around.

15 - Igrene CANTOR - 25 - Image Brookford Otters
Striker
9 caps, 4 goals
Summary
The first time most people heard of Igrene Cantor was when a 20-year old scored 34 goals in 38 games in the First Division. And then, in the Premiership, managed 20 in her first season, and bettered the feat the next. Cantor isn't a complicated sort, and pretty much all she does is run fast, beat players and lash finishes into the top corner with her left boot - her right can do a job. Apparently, that's enough to be a breakout star in the world's strongest league, so the chance to shine on the international stage was inevitable.

21 - Penumbra AMOKACHI - 24 - Image Brinemouth
Striker
31 caps, 20 goals
Summary
Amokachi is a simply devastating striker, a whirlwind of destruction who neither asks nor gives quarter in the pursuit of victory. She looks set to end the Nepharim trend of pretty good but not brilliant strikers with a mixture of attributes to give any defence pause. Two-footed, exceptionally quick and an emphatic finisher, she's had the chance to play alongside and learn from her childhood idol R. J. Styrn at her club. It's only made her a more intimidating prospect in front of goal. Has a penchant for elegantly flicked headers. Scored six in the World Cup.

Almost a glorious victory for the Patriots and, even so, glorious defeat is still positive food for thought. Still, an aging squad needs to undergo a really, really quick process of renewal - after all, the next cycle of qualifying is almost at hand. The process begins now, blooding the likes of Szukala, Foran and Skorupska for the trials ahead, but why not try and get a trophy along the way?

Bale's side plays lightning-quick, cavalier football, constantly attacking at pace. It's an exceptionally quick but not especially technical side, and maximising opportunities ensures that a few will land in the net. 4-2-3-1 remains a more defensive option when Bale feels the need to put the stranglehold on the game.

Sasha BALE - 46
Manager
Summary
In recent years, Sasha Bale has finally moved out of Catherine Bardsley's shadow - her predecessor at club and country, and who she worked for a long time under as assistant manager. They basically share the same beliefs, at any rate, and like Bardsley before her Bale's won plaudits for her side's performances and methods, not just their results. Just... the results sort of have to follow. She's determined to make that happen.

Fiona SYLVER - 45
Assistant Manager
Summary
A much-loved former captain of Brenecia, veteran of its ill-fated Baptism of Fire, Sylver was a calculated choice for a manager who desperately needs to earn respect. By all accounts, has a highly-refined tactical mindset as well, and took to coaching like a duck to water. Right now, though, she will almost certainly be needed to stick the squad together more than to make arrows on a chalkboard.
1 - Geneva URQUHART - 31 - Image SC Kiel
50 caps, 23 clean sheets
Summary
A dark horse and eye-catching late riser to the challenge for the Patriots, with great reflexes and an unnerving way to get to shots no matter what. Great distribution and ability with her feet form about 90% of a complete product. The problem is that she's obviously pretty poor aerially, and she is just a little error-prone. After Woodgate was in world-beating form during the Trindl Cup, however, can Urquhart take back her place?

12 - Mathis WOODGATE - 24 - Image Northern Union
30 caps, 7 clean sheets
Summary
There is a reason why an incomplete Brenecia side kept clean sheets against the likes of Eura and Audioslavia, and Mathis Woodgate is that reason. An eye-catching stopper just like Urquhart, Woodgate is more reliable and far better in the air. His distribution is okay, but he isn't comfortable with the ball at his feet and sometimes his command of his area is a little slip-shod - all things that will come with experience, of course. A move abroad for him will surely beckon soon - he probably isn't world-class, but he certainly deserves his chance at a top league. For now, he's probably got momentum on his side.

20 - Sheila CANNON - 29 - Image Fligsive FC
3 caps, 0 clean sheets
Summary
A decent goalkeeper and a very good shot-stopper, Cannon is decidedly uncomfortable with the ball at her feet while being exceptionally violent when coming out of the net to claim the ball. A bench-warmer for both club and country, she'll do a fine job if called upon, but is unlikely to edge past either Urquhart or Woodgate.
2 - Scout GIVEN - 30 - Image Firewood City
Right-back
77 caps
Summary
Quick-witted and light on her feet, Given is the sort of reliable defensive fullback that is a genuine panacea to the Patriots' defensive woes. A journeywoman who has played for five different clubs in three different countries, Given is decent going forward but prefers to hunt down wingers and lock down the flank. Passionate and aggressive, occasionally to a fault.

3 - Ophelia LOVELOCK - 23 - Image Kingsgrove
Left-back
Uncapped
Summary
An attacking fullback who plays the traditional Kingsgrove way, Lovelock is a barely-restrained overlapping presence along the left wing and her chemistry with club teammate Carroll should provide a wonderful bonus... particularly since Carroll likes to hang back or cut inside while Lovelock goes the traditional wide route to swing in crosses. Defensively, unproven above A-League level and sometimes questions are asked even there, but she's undoubtedly the future (and, perhaps, the present) for the Patriots.

5 - Anaximander SCRIVENER - 27 - Image Halholzer United
Centre-back
28 caps, 2 goals
Summary
A big, tough centre-half who came from pretty much nowhere to be one of the leading lights of the A-League. Slow on his feet, but surprisingly measured in possession, and pretty much unbeatable in the air. Scrivener got some much-needed experience against first-class forwards in the Trindl Cup, and although he was occasionally caught out for a lack of pace, he generally held firm and did his country proud. The natural successor, then, to Faulkner.

6 - Brandon DUGUID - 28 - Image Mallox
Centre-back
72 caps, 2 goals
Summary
Duguid's had a fairly chastening season at club level, and surely faces pressure from powerful players like Scrivener and Bradden. But Bale has faith in Duguid's composure on the ball and tendency for winning it back cleanly, and he'll get his fair chance to keep his place for the national team.

17 - Czeslawa SZUKALA - 22 - Image Falkner United
Right-back
Uncapped
Summary
Of Buyanese stock, Szukala is a far more marauding rightback than the safety-first Given and thus plays more into Bale's instincts, but remains relatively untested - will Bale dare to throw her into the first team? It's unlikely, but this will be a valuable experience for the rightback. It seems like the sky might well be the limit for her.

18 - Sandra CHILTON - 23 - Image Lotus Park
Centre-back
Uncapped
Summary
Sister to Merry Chilton, and thus set to become the first Brenecian pair of siblings to be capped. Sandra's intelligence and anticipation set her above her peers in the A-League, but she's a fair distance behind the other three centre-halves in this squad. Still, if called upon, there's no doubt that she'll do her nation proud.

19 - Julian COLLINGWOOD - 29 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Left-back
41 caps, 2 goals
Summary
Diligent, versatile and energetic, Collingwood can be thrown into midfield if need be but his vastly preferred position is at leftback - ideally with plenty of license to charge forward. He's excelled for the national team, and should be a nailed-on starter - at least, until the emergence of Lovelock.

22 - Rostyn BRADDEN - 25 - Image Lajuno
Centre-back
11 caps
Summary
Pikemouth's gentle giant, recently moved to Rozelle. You mightn't be comfortable with the thought of Bradden with the ball at his feet, or showing initiative, but he gets the job done, hoofing the ball clear and kicking people into the sky. Positional awareness is a little lacking, but he's still young, very strong and surprisingly quick, and he'll never shirk a workload. He was genuinely impressive alongside Scrivener during the Trindl Cup.
4 - Lilith PATERSON - 27 - Image Maximum Rovers
Holding Midfielder
24 caps, 1 goal
Summary
Okay, so Paterson was born and raised in the Laith, now plays in Maximum and has never been to Brenecia in her life. But Brenecia's a small country, and sometimes you need to look at where maternal grandfathers were born. Mick Reeve lived in Falkner until he was five, and that's good enough for the WCC. Either way, Paterson isn't the best technical player but works wonders as the pure defensive midfielder proven at a high level that Brenecia have needed, badly, for years.

8 - Cathy BLACKSLATE (c) - 29 - Image Harmonica Tundra
Central Midfielder
54 caps, 12 goals
Summary
Blackslate captained the Trindl Cup side and performed excellently throughout, driving the Patriots on to great things with her tireless box-to-box running. Equally likely to put the finishing touch on a cross or clear the ball off her line, there's a growing sense that Blackslate's incredible form has made her the best choice to be the legs of the Brenecian midfield. Scored five goals in qualifying to be equal-top scorer.

11 - Catherine PURRINGTON - 31 - Image Wye United
Central Midfielder
115 caps, 36 goals
Summary
Purrington's not winning any awards for athleticism. Or defensive workrate, or attacking workrate, or physicality, or pace. Furthermore, her right foot is pretty much useless. This leaves her with one foot on a short, chunky body. But what a foot. More talent than any Brenecian in history is confined to a brain and a left foot, and when they're unleashed, a limitless supply of audacious through-balls, ambitious forward passes and blazing shots for the top corner spring forth. Brenecia needs this rough, slightly tarnished diamond.

14 - Aleksandra SKORUPSKA - 22 - Image Northern Union
Central Midfielder
Uncapped
Summary
A resourceful and quick-footed young midfielder, Skorupska is a bundle of energy and ambition that needs time and space to hone that into becoming a midfield killing machine - which, it's looking like, she is definitely capable of. For now, she's a fearless box-to-box presence with an eye for making the decisive pass at the decisive moment, and that deserves a call-up whether early 20s or late 30s.

16 - Laura GALLOWAY - 30 - Image Rozelle
Central Midfielder
31 caps, 6 goals
Summary
A gamechanging player. Galloway's the type to belt forward as soon as she takes hold of the ball and get it moving somewhere dangerous, always looking for a killer pass. Not that she's averse to striking out on her own and getting goals, either - and she's fast, too, with a way of getting into the right positions and running into channels. At her weakest out of possession, and a poor tackler.

21 - Catherine GRYPHON - 24 - Image FC Brimstone
Holding Midfielder
25 caps
Summary
Gryphon cleans things up and gets the ball moving, plain and simple and very, very efficient - an aspiring set piece specialist as well, she's an invaluable asset for the national team and has proven herself worthy of every challenge that's come her way. Together, the axis of 'the three Cathies' has looked indomitable in midfield.
23 - Squire TREVELYAN - 23 - Image Oldem Mechanical
Right Winger
22 caps, 8 goals
Summary
Unambiguously Apoxian and qualifying for Brenecia through blood, one suspects the real reason for Trevelyan getting in the squad over Bowditch is to have him capped before Apox gets to him. Quick, powerful and always fancies himself to get a goal or two, Trevelyan is an irrepressible presence out on the right with undeniable talent. A rough diamond is good enough for the Patriots right now.

15 - Ursula RANKIN - 26 - Image Wye United
Striker
35 caps, 20 goals
Summary
Seven goals over the Campionato Esportiva and another five in the Cup of Harmony prove that Rankin is no mere flash in the pan, and she's a nailed-on starter up front. Pugnacious, direct and diligent, Rankin is a product of FC Endeavour's prestigious academy who wasn't quite good enough to break into contention for the side itself, and still isn't quite over that. Her low centre of gravity and impeccable close control make her superb at getting past defenders, as does her ability to suddenly break into full pace at a moment's notice. Her finishing, too, is brutally efficient, and while her goals aren't usually pretty, there's always plenty of them.

10 - Roisin CARROLL - 23 - Image Kingsgrove
Left Winger
26 caps, 7 goals
Summary
Carroll's easy stride on the ball, remarkable passing range and occasional eye for goal make her one of the most exciting Brenecian players around. True, she's yet to be tested in one of the world's top leagues, but the trust Bale put in her during the Trindl Cup was paid back in full. Carroll could go far, and could be a mainstay of the team for a decade. She isn't, however, as dynamic or direct as some other of Brenecia's wingers.

13 - Naphtali THATCHER - 26 - Image Iskara Daii
Left Winger
36 caps, 8 goals
Summary
Hailing from approximately the middle of nowhere, Thatcher isn't most people's idea of the modern footballer. Honest, steadfast and devoutly Protestant, Thatcher dazzled the A-League for two seasons like a Roman candle before moving to the LigAnaia. Not a flashy player, moving more or less in straight or diagonal lines either towards goal or to provide the cross and using both pace and unnaturally good control to dominate opponents.

15 - Karena FORAN - 23 - Image Northern Union
Right Winger, Striker
6 caps, 4 goals
Summary
Okay, so there's a glut of incredibly talented right wingers in Brenecia right now. But Foran is very quick, very physical and very direct, with a ruthless finish, and given that she gravitates towards direct diagonal runs as a winger anyway, why shouldn't that be applicable to a pure striking role? Besides, they need her as backup for Rankin - Foran's been carving the A-League asunder of late, and she definitely deserves this place.

24 - Ronan BOWDITCH - 26 - Image Real Azuris
Right Winger
9 caps, 2 goals
Summary
Another guileless but explosive winger. Routinely outpaces and overpowers fullbacks before floating in a dangerous cross, but the final product isn't always there yet. He's already an intimidating prospect up front, and has been a pivotal piece in Real Azuris conquering Cosumar twice in a row.

18 - Sandra Chilton (Lotus Park)

Postby Northern Sunrise Islands » Sun Apr 17, 2016 9:07 am

A sentiment over the national teams had emerged due to a very important reason: the fact that beyond the Northern Sunrise, none were exactly remarkable. If it sounds odd, remind yourself that the Sunrisians are on one of the most peaceful states they ever were at even if some of the colonies such as the Edenias weren't taking the colony status much nicely. Peace allowed for them to wonder about several things, though the idea of being more remarkable seemed key. Many didn't know about all the Sunrises and as such, the Unified Sunrise felt there was need for minds to be enlightened.

However, due to years of little care about who played the regionals displayed an obstacle. The idea instead was for the Unified Sunrisians to pick players based on home, as in to use the recently popular National Trophies to generate buzz and give strength to the new regional teams. It sounded slightly complex, but it summed up to reinventing the wheel: nations inside the Unified Sunrise would base their squads after their own national leagues, ignoring the Sunrisian Championship. The idea was to prove that the Sunrisians were capable of much more than it seemed by their UICA results.

Two surprises came, however. First, the Sunrisians wouldn't use the original monikers they had, such as the Vaporeons for the Northern Sunrisians or the Flareons for the Southern Sunrisians. Instead, they'd have nicknames that would be picked by the fans. The first poll ever ended with the Northern Sunrisian side switching monikers to "the Machine", based after the hundreds of gears inside of a robot, referring to the numerous islands and colonies the Northeners had. Other monikers revealed were the Trance for the Eastern Sunrisians and the Corsairs for the Western Sunrisians. Finally, the other surprise was when the manager was revealed to be RyoCo and Hibiki Zaibatsu leader Ryo Hibiki. Boasting an impressive record as a Pokémon Trainer on the past yet none football knowledge, he guaranteed that with his newest technological advances, he'd be capable of taking the Sunrisians to the title.

When the football isn't only a 'game'
I've never seen football as just a game. Even from experience. After all, for all you've suffered with this sport it can not be just a game where a team wants to win the other scoring more goals. If it were so simple, so commonplace, how to explain the passion of millions of fans around the world by a group of players running with the same shirt, for which you are able to spend, often, the money does not have to buy it? Simply because football goes beyond all barriers merely sports.
And that connection with football transcends in many cases the emotional relationship the sports community. That is, not restricted to the fact that you have chosen a team to cheer for geographical reasons or family.
Football, through a team, can represent a country without land; show the world the suffering of a people; explain with other eyes a war; translate the anger of a crowd; exemplify passions; translate geopolitics; bring the world economy to a bar wheel; or simply tell a curious story.
All this is possible through this spectacular invention called football, the most popular sport on the planet.
The football world is not just made of the Champions League millionaires wages and stories full of glamor and fame. It is, above all, composed of overcoming stories, trivia and historical facts that show how the game often is just a detail. In several cases, and at times, the most important detail of life.
Many people just like to watch spectacular matches with a high level of play. others value the top teams and tournaments. So downplay minors or countries that have no tradition in the sport or even public competitions. They fail to meet sensational stories.
Stories like hiring policy of The Strip, which prioritizes foreigners to attack and native Red Blackilandians for the defense; all overcome and suffering in childhood of Defour, the "Falcon"; the importance of Montgomery for the entire local population, the football played in one of these tiny world countries out.

Michelle Rakotosoa brings new proposals to table
Measures would focus on human capital
Michelle Rakotosoa, a Senator for Port Louis and a frequent critic of Racaoan President Charles Andriarivo's policies, has introduced her own set of policies that she believes will help to alleviate poverty that focus on human capital - such as health care, education, and other items - rather than roads, bridges, dams, or factories that the government of Andriarivo has focused on. The move has sparked political debate about the future of reducing poverty in Racao - showing that the country has a stable government able to tolerate debate but also highlighting the extremes of poverty in a nation where more than 40% of people live below the poverty line.

Rakotosoa proposed the measures in a piece of legislation on the Senate floor in Soalara, the capital of Racao. She described her measures as "common sense measures for the prosperity of Racaoans and their families" and divided her proposals into several different categories. One was health, as she proposed to invest in digging clean water wells to improve access to clean water and investing in toilets to improve sanitation. She also proposed the purchase of easy-to-use, portable water-treatment devices invented by a Racaoan entrepreneur. To back those proposals up, she suggested funding for community-based programs to get people to use these services. She then focused on education and training, another crucial point in the Racaoan economy. Her measures will increase school funding throughout Racao, not only for new teachers, textbooks, and curriculum, but also for new schools throughout the country and abolition of tuition fees in state-owned schools. In addition, she proposed literacy and vocational training for adults. To provide electricity, Rakotosoa suggested solar panels to power the schools. Finally, she proposed creating subsidies to reduce the price of rice and other food staples to make them more accessible and encourage native farmers to grow the crops.

Rakotosoa said that her proposals were based off of her own experience growing up in Port Louis. "When I was a child, I lived in one of the worst slums on the outskirts of Port Louis. While I could see the glistening towers and manufacturing facilities sprouting in the city center, I would admire them. But there were a lot of problems in the slums - poor housing, poor sanitation, no access to running water, and no electricity. I resolved to make the slum where I grew up a place where I actually wanted to live. That's what I am doing with these measures today." She further took a dig at President Andriarivo's policies, criticizing his pro-business bent. "Mr. Andriarivo, while he has noble intentions, the same as I do, his ways of going around to it are not conducive to reducing poverty. Corruption is such a big problem, while he thinks that his projects will be immune from corruption, but instead, they will be big money wasters. Furthermore, poor quality jobs are not much better than no jobs at all. So that's why I say no thank you to Mr. Andriarivo's proposal of economic development."

Andriarivo wrote in a press release that he was not opposed to the proposals on the face of them. "Ms. Rakotosoa is an important contributor to our national discussion on this issue. Obviously, my way is not the only way to reduce poverty in our country, and I think we can and should consider alternative proposals to alleviate poverty in Racao." Andriarivo further commented that while he thought his proposals were an excellent solution to the problem, Rakotosoa "looks at things from a different angle, and she has proposed worthwhile solutions to these problems." He also added that it was important to have a full discussion on the issue in a democracy: "We can't go trampling over the minority in our quest to reduce poverty. We can and we must consider all points of view in order to proceed."

Economist Cyril Rakotonirina said that Rakotosoa's proposals were an important step to make. "Poverty is a very important issue here in Racao, and I think that Rakotosoa's proposals will go a long way towards reducing it. They are simple, common-sense, and have a multiplying effect. For example, clean water and improved sanitation will allow more people to go to newly improved schools and reduce disease. Furthermore, education and vocational training will help Racaoans get the skills they need to get jobs and start earning money for their families." Funding from the World Assembly, the government, and charities and NGOs can get these projects off the ground, and Rakotonirina believes that Rakotosoa's propositions were a great bang for the buck, as it would allow millions to break the cycle poverty. As to Andriarivo's proposals, Rakotnirina believes they can complement Rakotosoa's. "When we have more skilled labor, more people learning how to do things, a more healthy populace, we can certainly invest in more factories and home-grown industries. That can certainly to more to help get people out of poverty, so I think that these two proposals can work hand-in-hand to help reduce poverty."

A young man read a book with piles of books to his sides. The new Northern Sunrisian manager by unusual reasons and leader of the Hibiki Zaibatsu, Ryo, had just arrived at his young cousin's room. Sato, son of his mother's sister Rina, had been raised as a bookworm, though on the usual Hibiki family, that meant he was mostly a weakling to be pushed around. That changed heavily once Ryo took the spot, who used Sato's skills to obtain a solid advantage on the research field over any competition. Sato was incredibly smart, but his lack of attitude and anything to back himself up caused some concern on the stronger Hibiki's mind.

"Sato." he said, his voice killing what was once legitimate silence. The scrawny kid got up, staring at his cousin happily. Sato knew how much Ryo had backed him out, so there was a debt of life there. "I'm aware you're reading football books." Sato stared back at his book, hiding it. Ryo sighed. "No use hiding it, Sato. But I'm not making you play." He gave a sigh of relief, before hearing "I'm making you the manager of Southern Sunrise."

Sato's eyes widened, shocked. "Uh... No, thanks, if I may." He trembled, dropping his book to the floor as he saw Ryo coming closer. In the past, he remembered stronger members of the family beating him up, something that he expected to happen with him as he assumed Ryo just had enough. A hand caressing his hair. It was then that he noticed Ryo was actually taking care of him.

"Just be a team player." Ryo answered. "I need all the help I can on promoting our newest technology." Sato nodded, silent. "And besides, I've convinced Yo, Mimi and Ayumi." He looked down for a bit. "Sure, Mimi failed to get past the Round of 16, but that happens." He nodded again. "Well, then go. Let's go make some money, shall we?"
