Cosumar sets sights on World Cup 74

The Fiefdom of Cosumar is a strange place. On a map, it seems just another nondescript Atlantian island-continent, occupying the far northeast corner of the region like a silent gatekeeper.

Yet, as anyone who has ever lived here - or even visited - can proclaim, it is a nation completely unique...feeling at times like an entirely different world from even the other island-continents that neighbor it. Worldly and open, yet somehow also a bit isolated and cut-off, as if entranced by its own spirit. Cosumar is a place of innovation and knowledge. A place of nature and magic. A place of open hearts and open minds. A place where people with blue skin and horns jam with humans in jazz clubs, where dragons soar over the northeastern mountains...followed by spaceships bound for Kepler.

And it is a place of football.

While not among the vaunted nations of the World Cup Hall of Fame (yet), Cosumar has a long history in the sport. A history that includes 24 consecutive World Cup cycles, three Cup of Harmony medals and, in the last edition, a remarkable run to the Quarterfinals that could rightfully be considered a "6th place" finish. In the minds of many hopeful Cosumarites, the decades of recent futility have been erased by the surprise success of World Cup 73. Now, head coach Gethin Ramsey and his staff must do it all again. Cosumar, that peculiar place out east beyond Audioslavia, is back on the map of world football and expected to remain there now.

It starts tonight. Group 19. As is tradition, the first home qualifying match will be played at Fire River Arena in Ramusok. The visiting opponent is Szavoda, our highest-ranked groupmate at #43 in the world. There's no easing into it in World Cup 74 - this is one of the most important matches of the whole slate right here at the beginning. Szavoda have the fiber to push us. They've invested a lot of money into their program in recent years and now have some quality from the Euran league (plus a Euran coach) in addition to their hardy, cohesive bunch of domestic players. Ulsa midfielder Branimir Milic is the main one to look out for tonight. Look for Gethin Ramsey to assign Vareza Na'Noni the task of sticking to Milic like glue.

After Szavoda, the biggest threats in the group are a pair of familiar opponents in Eastfield Lodge and Sarrbia. Unified Lycan Territories, while new to the sport and lowly ranked, show potential as well. Owner-osity and Vaugania should be cupcake wins.

But for the first time in two decades, Cosumar is the highest-ranked nation in their group. A failure to qualify would be seen as cataclysmic. Not entirely shocking given the Fiefdom's struggles in that regard throughout history, but Cosumar hasn't fallen short of any major goal yet since Ramsey took over and made them "The Vanquishers". Ramsey is a proven wizard at navigating Qualifying, but does the 71-year old Nepharim have what it takes to do it now with more pressure than ever on his old shoulders and a target on his team's back?

That is the question, friends. But it's not just the manager. Cosumarite civilization is one of the treasures of the world, but if Cosumarite football is to gain matching regard, the whole team must unite and rise above all challengers to take our spot. Rise - like Ramusok from the ashes after the fiery conquest of Mikael The Magnificent.

Below is the full team of 24 that Ramsey has called up, listed alphabetically with starters bolded. Looks like his usual flat 4-4-2. Alexander Soarhaven, Matt Branch and Vyacheslav Kolen are set to make their Cosumar debuts, with controversial omissions including veteran Crisisbless defender Jon-Perohlin Nodtveit, Eikborg Club midfielder Timo Sorben, Trothwands Evolution attacker Octavius Ioda, Cranequin Wanderers goal-man Coden Hari, and the young Kit Kvanderwyk from Cassandra City.

Goalkeepers: Esteban Hernandez (Mierton Manatees - TAE), Jakk Winterfyll (Exton FC - APX)
Defenders: Arndu Farsgaard (Hastmeade Diamente - OSR), Maynard Gorham (Papillio Mertagne - MRT), Jacob Pandan (Trothwands Evolution - OSR), Senter Senterekoesima (Rozelle United - BRE), Sheldon Serra (Zenit Attawapiskat - QUE), Alexander Soarhaven (FC Jansberg - SEM), Peter Svensson (FC Jansberg - SEM), Tomasso Tenebrosa (Ramusok United)
Midfielders: Matthew Branch (FC Jansberg - SEM), Tiffany Elam (Guingamp - KRN), Vyacheslav Kolen (FC Kolberg - SEM), Darwyn Lucassen (North Hall - BRE), Vareza Na'Noni (Avenida Principal - FFD), Ole Öhman (Sabrefell Athletic - NPH), Aziz Senturk (Maximum Rovers - NPH), Mauricio Sigler (Real Atlantea - TAE), Frazan Va'Goshal (Galatica - PAS), Augen Wittevrongel (Barbury Town - APX)
Strikers: Anders Engström (Crisisbless - NPH), Tevin Lilley (Rozelle - BRE), Ace Newman (Urbanista - APX), Belarmin Worsaw (Eastweald)

Torgos Tribune ~ Once More Into The Breach

Császár Mór is a legend among the Wanderers, up there among the greats like Calabrese and Tobias Möller, having won the World Cup and Copa Rushmori in his time on the national team, while making it to another two World Cup Finals and Copa Rushmori Final. The deeds that he has done in the Wanderer shirt are quite a long list and it is with good reason that many hold him in high regard, not just at home, but abroad even among nations who are used to success. It is a true testament to just how great of a career that the midfielder has had, with his domestic career in Eura and Spartangrad nearly as celebrated.

However even the greatest of individuals eventually start to see a decline and as much as we do not want it to be so, the man is two years on the wrong side of thirty as we enter the Qualification stage of the Seventy-Fourth World Cup. Most other midfielders would have not even been considered for a call up when looking down at the gauntlet that will be the upcoming World Cup cycle, most managers would look to a younger player with more stamina and upside left in their game. However there is a certain quality about players like Mór and Möller that is so rare to find that you keep those players on your side as long as they are willing to be called up to represent their nation. It is a quality that is hard to define but you know it when you see it, like that of Laborious Hawk or Jenji Y and Di Bradini have had in the past.

These type of players are special, they are like the hearts of the nation and team, stalwart in their preparation even if their skills have began to diminish. Do not get this wrong however, Mór is still highly talented even if he may not be the same type of player he was four years ago when the Wanderers lifted that World Cup trophy in celebration. There is still a role for him to play in this side besides a mentor, there will be games where a moment of magic from the maestro in the middle may turn the tide, though he may not be an every game starter at this stage in his career. You can be sure though that come the critical games in the Qualifying that may decide whether the Wanderers win the group or not, that he will be there to do his part.

Looking at the group for the Wanderers you have to expect that they will make it out of the group though do not be surprised if Sameba and/or Super-Llamaland will give the Wanderers a tough push throughout the Qualifiers. Sameba we know from multiple Copa Rushmoris and present a familiar and somewhat difficult challenge, especially in their home stadium where I do not expect anyone to go in and walk away with three points, a draw away there should be considered a victory. The Llamas have been a consistent if not very spectacular side in international football for decades now and they are battle tested, that alone makes them a hardy challenge but even though their rankings would suggest otherwise, I feel Sameba is a bigger threat and the more likely of the two to snatch up the playoff spot in the group, provided it is the Wanderers who win the group.

The rest of the group is a handful of unknown quantities as well as those who are rather new on the international footballing scene and while there is definitely a chance for pitfalls among them, at this point in the Wanderers development, you have to expect them to take six points from these matches. The Wanderers have been to three straight World Cup Finals and are definitely chomping at the bit to get right back there and show that this is not a blip in the radar, but rather the true measure of Pasargan football. Many flames have shined bright before being snuffed out, the Wanderers are looking to be a star that burns eternal.

For the first time, Ethanian players will be participating in the most prestigious tournament of the multiverse. Nations from all over the place come together to play the beautiful game, to find out who is the best team in the world. Ethane, fairly new to the international stage in football, will be hoping to make a good first impression to other nations in the world. While it is unlikely that the national team will progress beyond the qualification stage, due to the superior competition that the team has to face, they will be hoping to cause a few upsets against the big teams in the same qualification group as Ethane, and at least put some pressure on the top of the group, threatening them for the progression places.

The Ethane National Football Team is no stranger to pressure, and tight situations.
Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Quazira 3 2 1 0 5 3 +2 7
2 Ethane 3 1 1 1 2 2 0 4
3 Whovian Tardisia 3 1 0 2 3 4 −1 3
4 Oisinistan 3 1 0 2 3 4 −1 3

In the Baptism of Fire, all the teams had to fight up to the last minute to secure a place in the next stage. Feeling the pressure from being last in the group at the end of Match Day 2, in which the Ethanian team had lost 1 game and drawn 1 game, the team had to secure a win to progress. Having not scored any goals in the tournament so far going into match day 3, there were many doubts about the striker, Boivin, and whether he could perform when needed. However, when he was under the most pressure, when his expertise and goal scoring ability was most needed, he delivered the goods, he found his form and scored the 2 goals that were needed to win the game and progress. He went on to continue in form, and it is hoped that he can continue his form into this world cup.

The Ethane National Team has also caused upsets before, and hopes to do so again in this world cup. In a friendly match against The Sword Bloke in Ethane, the team swept to a comfortable victory over a much higher ranked team, beating them 3-1. Boivin again secured the goals for Ethane to win, continuing his form onwards and strengthening his place in the team. The team will be hoping to pull off some surprise victories such as this in the World Cup Tournament, and show their strength and unity as a team on the international stage.
Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.

Interview by Uyeda Tanosuke

Discover the World Intro Song

: Intro begins with a view from space as the world slowly turns below before cutting to a shooting star in the sky in the distance, in a field of cherry blossoms with the words Discover the World written in the night sky. Intro then proceeds to show Tanosuke all over the world eating local foods, interviewing people, attending concerts, football matches, etc. About a minute and a half later the intro ends and cuts to Tanosuke and Hikaru sitting across from each other in a hotel lounge room. Tanosuke smiled and looked into the camera.

T: "Bonsoir et Konbanwa, welcome to Discover the World on the KBC Network, I'm your host Uyeda Tanosuke. This show took my dreams of travel as well as my love of global understanding and allows me to share the world along with it's characters with our viewers in Kirishima, and the world. Tonight we have a special treat for those who are watching at home. I am here at The Iconic Matsuri Hotel in downtown Akihabara, the Anime capital of Kirishima, with nation football team manager Kyosuke Hikaru-san . "Tanosuke turned to face Hikaru. Hello and thank you for taking the time to do this interview.

H: Hikaru turned to Tanosuke with a big grin "No problem Tanosuke I always have time for a pre cup interview and there was no way I would miss Discover the World ." He said with a laugh. "I mean look at this view!" He added with awe.

T: Tanosuke smiled "Akihabara truly is wonderful but credit has to go to you with spending your last night of training in this city." Tanosuke responded. "Now on to the first question, What do you hope to accomplish in World Cup 74?" Tanosuke asked.

H: Hikaru chuckled, "Woah you are not pulling any punches." Hikaru then stroked his chin. "Hm, I would have to say top two spot in Group 18. Last cycle we were expected to finish fourth and after World Cup 72's struggle my staff and I had to get things done. We were how you say....on the hot seat. I hired Kikuchi Makoto when she did a fantastic job with Yabuta in her first season with Akihabara. We switched formations and we change our play style and shot for a 4th spot. The results we had instead by finishing 2nd and qualifying for the World Cup Proper was a....welcome surprised. With a top two finish in our group again, I think the international community will truly recognize the Kitsunes as a legitimate threat.

T: Tanosuke nodded "Is there any changes that we need to know of?

H:Hikaru once again nodded. "For the most part the team has remain the same. I added Akiho Ubukata as she has had two impressive seasons in the KPL and she was a must. Other than that I feel like we finally found an Identity on the pitch and we should not fix what is not broken. Of course we had a bad showing in the group stages in the world cup proper but it was our first time and we are stilling gaining experience. At this stage consistency and chemistry is key."

T: Tanosuke adjusted himself in his seat. “Speaking of chemistry when Kirishima upset Carialus on the road Joseph Yabuta and Koharu Miyamoto were seen briefly embracing romantically, will that be an issue?"

H: Hikaru shook his head. "Of course not, those two are professionals who are young and enjoying their lives as the Goddess Illias would like to see.

T: "Ah okay, well do you think you are ready for tommorrow" Tanosuke asked.

H: "Illias willing, I hope. It's only the first match but we ought to start positive. If we want a good group finish."

Tanosuke turns to face the camera. "This has been Discover the World on the KBC Network from our nation’s capital. What will I do next and where I go are the questions to which I have no answer, tune in next time to find out. Stay tuned as Newsroom Report is up next. Once again I'm Uyeda Tanosuke and this as been Discover the World: change your perceptions.....change the world." Tanosuke said the motto as the Space Ambient Credit theme plays as the camera pans out. The credits begin running down the screen as Tanosuke can be seen shaking hands with Kyosuke.

Pregame

Edgar Morra: Hello, my name is Edgar Morra, I'm here with my partner, Jan Viktorio, and we are here in Minford, Azrea, ready to bring you San Llera's first World Cup qualifying match, against, you guessed it, Azrea. Thoughts, Jan?

Jan Viktorio: Well, Edgar, I am very excited. San Llera is the favorite to win this match, but it won't be easy going on the road. Only time will tell.

EM: Quite. Any official predictions.

JV: I'm thinking San Llera will bring home the W. 2-1.

EM: So you're saying that San Llera will find Viktorio?

JV: Oh, for the love of God, could you stop that?

EM: Sorry, it's not my fault audiences enjoy punny commentators. Humor makes great entertainment.

JV: I... I'm speechless.

EM: You're no pun.

(silence)

JV: To be completely honest, I don't know too much about Azrea, as the most recent tapes I could find came from seven years ago. But look for them to be attacking and plucky. In order to succeed, San Llera is going to need to be able to keep possession of the ball and avoid making mistakes.

1st Minute

EM: And we're off! Bou kicks off to Mestre, he passes it back to Fonda, and the game is underway. This is the first step in a very long road to, hopefully, a World Cup berth.

3rd Minute

EM: Bou slips it through nicely for Mestre, he has some space to work with, and- oh dear, he butchered that chance. Carles Mestre has a shot, granted at a tough angle, but not even close.

JV: That, Edgar, was horrendous.

EM: Yes it was.

11th Minute

EM: Oh dear, Jacque Olivier loses the ball. In comes a cross for Azrea, and they win the header, and it's barely wide! The first chance for Azrea in the game is a header that went just wide of Chimo Fons's goal.

JV: San Llera very lucky there.

EM: Indeed. Don't forget to visit sanllera-today.llr for all of the highlights. You can find clips of any major points in the game there.

34th Minute

JV: I would argue that Chell SC is better than Cremando Llera, Edgar. They got off to a slow start, but they picked it up, and I have high expectations heading into UICA play.

EM: Speaking of Chell SC, here is Pelechamchas up the wing... cuts it inside, not sure if that was a shot or a pass, but it sure was close! Right between Don Llorens's outstretched foot and the far post!

40th Minute

EM: Well, it's the 40th minute, so it's time for me to read palapas [tweets] with the hashtag #SANvsAZR. Let's see what xxxxMarcxx has to say

JV: That's like 95 x's in their username.

EM: What?

JV: 95 x's. Like 95X.

EM: 95X?

JV: Yes, 95X.

EM: Just... just let me be the funny commentator.

JV: I wouldn't say funny is the right term...

EM: You're right. The term is punny.

JV: You've already made that pun, several times in fact.

EM: Anyway, xxxxMarcxx says, "Mestre not playing well rn, I'm hoping to see him subbed out." Nice analysis, xxxxMarcxx, I'm inclined to agree.

JV: Ya, and I see now that Dwight is starting to warm up. Man, he is a specimen.

EM: Quite.

Halftime

JV: The halftime whistle blows.

EM: That's right, it's halftime! Not a very eventful half, a couple chances, but it's 0-0 at the break, San Llera and Azrea.

51st Minute

JV: Is it true that you don't believe in evolution?

EM: Yes, why?

JV: No reason... it's just a bit odd in this day and age.

EM: As a matter of fact, evolution has been disproven by irreducible complexity.

JV: What even is that?

EM: Well, in a complex system, the reduction of any part results in it not working, hence evolution could not have happened

(Morra and Viktorio get into extended argument about evolution, during which they ignore several missed opportunities for San Llera.)

64th Minute

JV: Do you know the folk tale about the flatbug and the snail? The snail kind of reminds me of you.

EM: Do you know the joke about the two nuns, the donkey, and the plate of spaghetti?

JV: What? Isn't that, like, someone else's thing.

EM: The joke?

JV: Ya.

EM: No, I don't think so.

JV: Well I could swear I've heard it before.

EM: Well, a man rides a donkey into a colonial-era hospital. There, he finds two nuns and a plate of spaghetti. He asks why the spaghetti. They say, for vaccines!

JV: I... I don't get it.

EM: Well the joke is an allusion to how nuns spread disease by vaccinating indigenous peoples with dirty needles in the colonial era. The pieces of spaghetti are the needles, and the sauce is the blood of other infected patients that will inevitably enter the bloodstream of any future patients!

JV: That's incredibly obscure, and not even funny in the slightest. Where did you even hear it? And why did you bring it up in the first place?

EM: It just came to me one day. And then I felt the urge to share it on national television.

JV: I have no words.

79th Minute

EM: The shot from Dwight! Oh, so close, I think it grazed the crossbar.

JV: Wow, there was a lot of power on that baby.

EM: Power on a baby? That sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

JV: An accident? Just like your first son?

EM: You shouldn't talk. I know about the abortion!

JV: I told you that in confiden- (cuts out, audience watches rest of the game in silence)

Banija defeats Dudgeon 3-0 to achieve first ever victory in the World Cup Cycle

Image
The team celebrates John Katumba's(8) game opening goal in the 16th minute

BUSUKUMA- To say that the team's last World Cup Cycle was disappointing is a massive understatement. Yes, in a tournament of this magnitude, where 160+ teams enter the qualification tournament and only 32 teams qualify for the finals, plenty of nations will say it is disappointing. Yes, it is basically impossible for a first time nation to qualify for the World Cup Finals. But even when you adjust those standards, the futility of the Banijan men's national team was shocking. They not only took only 1 point from 3 games in the 60th Baptism of Fire, but they followed it up by going winless and drawless in the 73rd World Cup Qualifiers. Out of 160 tams, they were one of two teams to not achieve a single result over the 12 matchdays in Group Play.

Banija was dominated in every fashion of the word. They scored only 5 goals across the 12 games, and allowed an astonishing 33, which is a rate of almost 3 per game. They allowed over 6 times as many goals as they scored, which is most definitely a recipe for disaster. That is why manager Jan Cassallerus, the manager out of San Llera, emphasized getting off to such a strong start. He believed that the team started poorly, and everything just started piling on top of each other, on to one of the worst qualifying campaigns of all time. That is why he helped lead a ticket drive with the association, to ensure that the stadium would be sold out.

He emphasized a massive home field advantage in helping the team start well. He felt that if they got plenty of fans, a full house, to back them against Dudgeon, they could start with some momentum and have that give them some confidence that they can take throughout the rest of the qualifying campaign, to garner Banija respect that they don't currently have as one of two teams that did not gain a single point in the last World Cup cycle. And Banijan fans responded to the call, selling out and filling almost every single seat of the Stadium of Restoration.

The team responded with two early goals to get on top and get the fans excited and bouncing. They were playing a counter-attacking style of soccer, as a team like Dudgeon would try to get Banija on their heels early and often. However, in the 16th minute, Dudgeon turned the ball over at midfield, giving the Banijans a 4 on 3. Muhumuza brought the ball up, and passed it to Kiggwe Mavuto, who then laid the ball off to John Katumba at the 18. Katumba hit the ball square on, and drilled it into the upper right hand corner to give his team a 1-0 lead over the Dudgeons, and get the Stadium of Restoration rocking.

Banija would then score again in the 22nd minute. Another counter attack had yielded a corner kick for the Banijans, and they converted from the set piece. The ball was crossed in by Katumba, and was hit towards the near post. The ball was flicked on by Kiggwe Mavuto, who got his second assist of the game when Muhumuza blasted the ensuing header home to make the game 2-0 and bring not only the stadium, but the entire country to their feet. Banijans everywhere were dancing, and celebrating, as it looked like the team was finally showing its true colors as a talented side.

The Banijan defense then clamped down on Dudgeon for the remainder of the game. They had a bend but don't break philosophy, where they would cede plenty of midfield possession to the opposition, but did not cede many quality chances to the opposition. They did not allow almost any second chances, getting to every single rebound first, either off of a save or a deflection. Dudgeon's shots were contested from long range, and they simply could not beat 37 year old Banijan keeper Moses Mbabazi.

Muhumuza did also convert a penalty kick in the 71st minute, which he converted after Kiggwe Mavuto was fouled. Banijans exploded to celebrate the 3-0 win, as the national team danced on the field, fans danced inside & throughout the stadium, and even manager Jan Cassallerus was absolutely ecstatic. He said that this was a great day in the history of Banijan soccer, but not because it was going to be one of very few victories, but because it would be the first of many that would be achieved over many World Cup cycles over the course of very many years and many generations. The great nations must start somewhere, and the Banijans would start here.

Banija's next match is a visit to Ko-oren, who is the top-seeded team of this qualifying group and is ranked 22nd in the world. Ko-oren is a very deep and very talented team, and while Banija are big underdogs, the game is sure to be an entertaining one, as Banijans have surely acquired some sort of confidence after their 3-0 take down of Dudgeon on home soil. Ultimately, what Banija have shown tonight is that instead of getting embarrassed night in and night out, that they will compete in every single game. No matter who they are playing, they have the capability to not only compete, but on the right night, they might be able to score a few upsets during the World Cup Qualifiers.

Grand Duchy ties with Chromatika
San José Guayabal- The 46566 national team has tied it's first World Cup Qualifier against the nation of Chromatika 0-0.This is a huge victory in itself due to the fact that Chromatika is over 100 spots above the 46566 national team. With the tie the Grand Duchy national team is tied for third in Group 16.
Matches in Grioup 16:
46566 0–0 Chromatika
Kirisaki 5–0 Jeckland
Arioslavia 0–3 Stvoto Latoli
The Group rankings is the following:

Group 16 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Kirisaki 1 1 0 0 5 0 +5 3
2 Stvoto Latoli 1 1 0 0 3 0 +3 3
3 46566 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
Chromatika 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
5 Arioslavia 1 0 0 1 0 3 −3 0
6 Jeckland 1 0 0 1 0 5 −5 0

With the tie the Grand Duchy national team must be prepared for the hardest team in the group Valanora. This would be Valanora's first game of the qualification process. The game would be the Grand Duchy;s second game of the Qualification process and a chance to further cushion a gap between them and the bottom teams of the groups. The experts are expecting a heavy loss to the Valanora team. The 46566 national team hopes to keep the scoreline under 3 goals.

Cosumar play it cool in World Cup 74 opener, cruise 4-0 past Szavoda

R A M U S O K -- Some fans were worried that the Vanquishers would be unprepared to face Group 19's strongest rivals right away on the very first Matchday with several first-time starters trying to integrate. But Gethin Ramsey's men put those fears to rest, looking every bit like the 18th-best side in the multiverse as they dismissed #43 Szavoda at Fire River Arena, four goals to nil. No sweat.

The new starters in question, midfielder Aziz Senturk and defenders Peter Svensson and Alexander Soarhaven, weren't entirely convincing in their first starring appearances, however. Senturk was a little quiet throughout and didn't see much of the ball in the key areas. And when he did, he seemed to be on a different wavelength from his teammates, misplacing passes and offering poor link-up play...although he did grab a goal late on when Anders Engström unselfishly teed him up. Svensson and Soarhaven didn't have much to contend with in the back, but they surrendered Szavoda's best chance of the game early on by getting the positioning all wrong on Pero Milovanovic's run.

It was still 0-0 at that point (the 17th minute) and beginning to get a little nervy in Fire River Arena, but Mauricio Sigler settled things down soon thereafter with a lasered shot from the edge of the box that eluded the goalkeeper's outstretched diving hands. A fortuitous Engström goal five minutes before the break, deflecting off the head of Tim Lukic and into the corner of the goal from 25 yards out, ensured the second half would be smooth sailing the rest of the way despite the somewhat shaky performances.

Sure enough, Captain Andy added another after half-time to make it 3-0, laid on by Ace Newman. Instead of blowing the roof off Fire River Arena with a hat trick, he then supplied Senturk a lunging tap-in with seven minutes left to go. Which blew the roof off the historic stadium anyways, but still. By the fierce look on his face, Engström knew how big of a win this was for Cosumar's World Cup campaign.

Cosumar captain Anders Engström is emphatic after scoring his second goal of the night. He also had an assist.

The win puts Cosumar at the top of Group 19, where they will hope to remain for the rest of the Qualifying, and lends a sizable boost to the potentially-critical GD statistic.

It didn't come without a cost though. Starting left back Maynard Gorham had to be carried off in a stretcher after he collapsed with a non-contact injury in the 50th minute. Team doctors have not yet disclosed the severity of the injury, but we can only hope it is not serious. Gorham was seen clutching his hip with a grimace on the sidelines. That said, Senter-squared filled in admirably in a second half that saw Szavoda produce only one shot on goal. The dependable veteran, Arndu Farsgaard, can provide additional coverage at the position if needed.

For Matchday Two, Team Cosumar will hit the road for the first time of this campaign, travelling to Rushmore to take on the catholic nation of Vaugania. The Vauganians just lost to Owner-osity 2-1 in their World Cup debut.

This is actually part two of my MD1 RP. I only posted it first because it was the easier one to make, and I don't know if I might be able to finish part one in time for the second cut-off.

WORLD CUP 74 QUALIFIERS: YOSMAR VS ABANHFLEFT

YOSMAR - It took all of sixty minutes before a resilient Yosmar side caved in under sustained Fleftic pressure and allowed Alexandra Rousseau to score the only goal in the game and give Abanhfleft a vital starting boost in the World Cup 74 qualifiers.

The Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies striker struck home from sixteen yards to secure victory for the Lady Revolutionaries in a game that threatened to be a nil-nil draw, despite the pressure from the visitors.

The visitors looked to have capitalized early on from their constant pressure when Chelsea Stuart headed the ball powerfully from Adelaide Singh's cross, but Momir Skalin cleared away the danger with his head.

Yosmar had a penalty appeal waved off after Dawn Jackson made a questionable two-footed tackle on Klimek Sokolowski, the referee having judged that the challenge happened outside the box.

Abanhfleft dominated possession for long spells, but it was home keeper Christopher Harvey who kept Yosmar in the game, twice denying Stuart and Rousseau and palming away a Lillian Prescott corner that appeared to be going in.

The visitors were wasteful with their chances, a total of 23 shots resulting in only 5 on target, and the fans would be left ruing at how many times they could have put the game to bed were it not for some dodgy finishing.

It took until five minutes after the start of the second half before Victoria Carter was finally troubled, but Vincent Lynch's effort was tame and rolled almost willingly into Carter's waiting hands.

In the rare times that Yosmar had the ball, they were equally wasteful with the little chances that they had, and Lugo Zambrano twice fired over the bar to the groans of the home fans.

Abanhfleft's pressure finally paid off as Rousseau surged clear into the middle of the park and smashed home what would turn out to be the game-winning goal, but it was the combination of Stuart and Allison Torres pulling away defenders and allowing Rousseau to come into the space that allowed the goal to happen in the first place.

Yosmar were relentless in their pursuit of the equalizer, but with Abanhfleft putting all players behind the ball, it was a very tough task for the side 199 places below the multiverse rankings of the side currently leading in the game, and Yosmar's best chance, a belter from K'mter Amexar, was tipped over the bar by Carter, but only after she stretched herself to her limit.

Abanhfleft had a chance to close out the victory in the dying minutes of the match, but substitute striker Zsofia Dolan saw her rolling shot trickle just wide of the post.

Abanhfleft manager Kasper Molak: Not the best result, but three points is three points

Abanhfleft manager Kasper Molak: "It's not the best result from the performance that we gave on the field, but I have to break out the old cliche and say that three points is still three points.

"I'm very satisfied with the way that the players are carrying themselves. They know what's at stake and, seeing as their male counterparts have qualified for the World Cup last time around, they're looking to do the same, and probably even one-up their brothers in white.

"We'll need to work on our finishing, that's for sure. We can't afford to be that wasteful when we go up against the likes of Nephara and Omerica, and even the other teams in the group like Augusticinia. They'll punish us for it if we keep doing that.

"But, overall, we did what we were asked to do, and I can't fault the players for that. We've got eleven more games to go, and we'll see where we are after those games."

Abanhfleft will host Uzekia at the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium three days from now.

THE ROZELLE OBSERVER
Routine Win Starts Patriots Off On Right Note
by Rose Mackay

Long before the Patriots even really existed on the world stage, Rejistania were one of the best sides in the world. That time, however, has passed, and a clear victory that handed caps to several fringe players - and a debut to forget for Peter Uffington, as the first goal of the game came off his heel past a helpless Woodgate. But the Patriots fought back in style, Syrene Ramsey getting her chance to try and push for a final 23 spot with a goal and two assists (to Maddon and Trevelyan). Cathy Blackslate finished off the Orange-and-Blues before a late consolation was forced through Woodgate's legs.

It was an easy win, though it has to be said that a clean sheet should probably have been kept, and it was good to see the hard-running, battling style back in force on a night that did sometimes lack end product. Not from Squire Trevelyan, of course, who might be forgiven for harbouring regrets of not holding out for Apox to cap him in light of his recent form but to his credit appears to be doing his utmost for his new country. He was a constant, muscular presence out on the right wing, often smashing his way inside and taking more shots than anyone else. It's also a welcome boost to Sheila Maddon, whose career has stuttered in the past couple of years and seems stuck behind Ursula Rankin indefinitely - today, after tapping the ball through the onrushing legs of the goalkeeper for her goal, she was full of confidence and seemed to be everywhere in the attacking third. Gryphon, Waters and, own goal aside, Uffington all impressed given their chances but the actual player of the match was Syrene Ramsey, winning only her second cap for the national team and seeming like a genuine option ahead of the next tournament.

What is worthy of note is that between Maddon, Duffy and Paterson of Nephara, Larsson of the Sarian and Trevelyan and now Uffington of Apox, the latest roster has six players who were born abroad and would probably consider themselves to have a different 'first' country - add on Rankin, who entered the Centre for Excellence of Apox at a young age, and you have seven players who weren't developed by A-League clubs. But for all that the detractors say, the evidence that the heart is there is on the pitch - and as long as the likes of Trevelyan in particular continue to wear their hearts on their sleeves and give everything for the blue shirt, adding so much class and depth to the national team, then who will be the one to stand in their way? Trevelyan might have been born and grown up abroad, but he accepted the call-up, pulled on the shirt and he's played his heart out every match he's in. He could well be ready to take the right winger role long-term. And surely that's the mark of a true Patriot.
Puppet of Nephara.

Their Lives

Pre-Theater Menu.

#10: E. Killanen, Attacking Midfielder

The Auld Printworks Bar, Courter Street Lane, Handon

'C'mon, get that down yer hatch and we'll order one more round.' Said Eoin Killanen checking the time one his phone, before downing the last couple of centimetres of his beer. He bounced from one foot to the other with a kind of nervous, excited energy as he looked round for the barmaid. The Kingsgrove midfielder pulled out his wallet, bulging with notes, and laid it on the edge of the bar. He could afford to be casual with his money these days.

Killanen was certainly setting a pace for the others to follow. 'I've still got half a beer here mate.' Said Thio Crillin holding his pint up to illustrate the point. 'I'm going to be half pissed by the time I get to the awards ceremony.' Crillin was a big guy, but he wasn't much of a drinker, never really had been. It wasn't so much that he was abstemious, it was more the case that getting drunk just didn't have the same appeal to the Myrmidon player as it once did. He was at a good club, in a good league, in a country that wasn't completely insane. As any sensible player knew, in Mulitverse-Football, that was a rare thing and you didn't just throw it away for the sake a few drinks at the weekends.

'That's the whole point big-man.' Killanen smiled roguishly, as he finally succeeded in catching the barmaid's eye. 'Four of the same. Right guys?' He shot the others in the party a serious look, daring them to say no. Crillin nodded grudgingly while trying to force down the last of his Ossorian stout like it was paining him. There others, Jarred Clotterman and Jack Hobbs, nodded much more vigorously, no doubt desperate to impress The Eoin Killanen. 'That's the sprit lads!' Killanen had a mischievous glint in his eye. He was a leader, there was no two ways about it, and something about him was very persuasive. 'Trust me, these end of season gigs can be a right pain in the arse unless you're suitably hammered before you go in.'

Hobbs and Clotterman of course had had the same idea. Neither of them were likely to be up for any awards at tonight's ceremony - even domestically - but the thought of sitting in a suit at a table for four hours was a massive culture shock to a couple of working class kids like them. It was often hard for Schottic players moving club, to bridge the gap between their blue-collar, ascetic, socialist values when going to live abroad. For Killanen on the other hand it was he who was a big fish suddenly back in a small pool. He had always been one of the in crowd, but after a phenomenal first season in the A-League, and his three goals in three games at the World Cup, it was fair to say his tail was definitely up. Champions Cup football, The Campionato Esportiva title, A-League's player off the year, and a man-of-the-match award in Schottia's draw with Farfadillis - and he was no doubt expecting a similar accolade tonight. Killanen, like all the other players, was dressed in his most expensive suit, grey with a white shirt and his club tie, something he was keen to show off. The annual player of the year award and players' dinner was big business, but it was also one of the only times during the year when everyone involved in Schottic football had the chance to get together in a social context.

'And make that four doubles of the 24yr old Glen Ellen.' He said handing the barmaid a fifty as she finished pouring their beers. 'Here's too a good night lads.' He said taking a sip of the whisky and savouring it, before washing it down with a sip of beer. 'I thought some of the others might have been here for a drink as well.' He looked at his phone again, impatient that he hadn't drawn more of a crowd. 'Where's the rest of the old Di-Bradini-Thirty-Three lads? Where's Souter? Watty? Wee Craig?' Scotty Burton?

'Watty is here with his girlfriend, they'll have just went straight to the town hall.' Crillin replied scratching his head. 'I'm not sure about the other's I guess they're going to meet us there now... given the time.' Crillin had to look at his feet as he spoke; he had a horrible feeling that some of the players might have been avoiding Killanen. The man could be... well lets just say he had something of a reputation hitting the drink on opportunities like this, and there were one or two instances which left something of an imprint on the players' minds. Killanen was thoroughly pleasant... Nice enough... Okay, maybe somewhat arrogant when sober, but when he'd been drinking it was best not to ask. Crillin could still remember Jenna Koemann having to slap him in the face after they celebrated their under-twenty-one win in Starblaydia.

'What's happened to you anyway big-man?' Killanen shot Crillin the question. 'You used to enjoy a drink as much as the next man.' He turned to the youngster next. 'Back in the day this boy could've drank Nial Feirsen under the table. Now look at him nursing his beer!'

Hobbs and Clotterman laughed awkwardly, a little out of politeness, and drank their own beers all the faster for fear of succumbing to the same ridicule. Both were probably now wandering if a quiet drink before the dinner had been the best idea. All the same, they were in the company of two of their heroes, two players they aspired to be, and they didn't want seem like a pair of kids, still wet behind the ears.

'Yeah, and where's Nial now?' Crillin asked changing the tone of the conversation, waiting while the cogs slowly turned in Killanen's brain. The other two remained silent as they didn't even recognise the name. 'Exactly! Well I'll tell you where he is: Augustinople Saints, in Pravenna. Yeah. A good reason not to drink like Nial Feirsen.' Killanen was forced to swallow the point, even if he didn't much like being corrected. Feirsen had been part of the same generation of Schottic youngsters as Gary Corsie, Mark Allen, Darren O'Brian, and a few others. He was the perfect example of a glimpse of fame too early corrupting a good young player. Had his career progressed evenly he would no doubt be a linchpin of the national team, but instead he was a nobody. He still had an incredible left foot on him by all accounts, but even that seemed only to serve as a painful reminder of what could have been.

'Okay okay okay okay!' Killanen waved furiously, as if he was trying to waft the negative energy out of the conversation. 'Point taken Captain Buzzkill. Lets finish up these drinks before we head over the road'

Crillin slowly shook his head, his inner disappointment worn on his face in the form of a heavy frown. He didn't say anything but raised his glass up to the light again and sighed as he tried to work out how drunk he was going to be after he had finished it in the twenty minutes they had left. That was it; it was going to have to be water for him when they got to the dinner table.

'So how's life treating you over there in Rushmore anyway big man?' Killanen was one of those people who always had to keep everything light. Talking about anything with any amount of substance was completely off the cards. Even showing emotions were normally a taboo, so something casting a spotlight on one of his imperfections had to be stopped at all costs. 'You must have found yourself some nice Cenian lassie by now. You've been there... what? Three seasons now? You went there about the same time as Souter, no?'

'Yeah, about right.' Crillin was glad of the change in conversation too if truth be told. He had found himself in the unusual position of getting quite heated, and was now attempting to run a finger inside his shirt collar to elevate some pressure. 'But no, I'm just focusing on the football just now.' He answered sternly and considered leaving it there, but the two teenagers were watching him closely and had picked up the bad vibe. 'Plenty of time to settle down, eh?'

Killanen simply shrugged, pulled a face that would sour milk, and went back to his pint. The atmosphere had gone from fun and games, to one you could cut with a knife. There was a painful silence, which seemed to surround the group, cutting them off from the rest of the bar. Such was the tension, Jack Hobbs incurred violent stares from the other three when he put his pint glass down too loudly on the end of the bar as they made to leave.

Schottic Football Association, Player of The Year Awards Ceremony and Dinner.
Old Handon Town Hall, Handon, Schottia

The walk across the road on a breezy October evening was good to blow some of the cobwebs away. It was evident from the two younger players that they hadn't quite realised just how drunk they were until they had stepped outside. The bar they had been drinking in was small and inconspicuous. It was the kind of place that didn't have enough of a buzz about it to bring in passing customers, nothing about it screamed: "Drink in me!" This however, was probably what the regulars were going for, preferring a quiet drink after work surrounded by familiar faces. Its location, just tucked into an alleyway of Courter Street Lane, made it a perfect place for the four footballers to hide out before heading to the dinner and ceremony.

Now back out in the city, they only had three streets to cross, but already the national media, along with dozens of fans were lining the streets to get a photo of the players going in, or perhaps an autograph. Hobbs and Clotterman, were probably only just realising how drunk they had become as the contrast between the dingy pub and the bright, cool Autumn evening became more apparent.

Killanen was out in front, setting the pace, and for all his apprehensions in the bar he now seemed hell-bent on getting to the town hall as quickly as possible. To the younger players it seemed that he needed to make his entrance on his terms, to stride in at the head of the group. He was the man they were all here to see, the bookies tip to pick up Schottic Player of The Year.

The simple truth, however, was that Eoin Killanen was nervous.

He was nervous that the only person who had turned up to the bar was Thio Crillin, the one man, who was too polite not to. He was nervous because he hadn't seemed to draw the same crowd that he once had. And above all he was nervous because he had been here before. Six years ago he thought his career had taken off when he was at Lammerton, one of the leagues top players and only eighteen-years-old. He had just received his first senior caps and it could only be up from there, the good times were going to last forever - but that wasn't to be the case. He had been here before and then it had been "Crash" "Bang" "Wallop" back down to earth with a bang.

He was reaching dizzying heights, and it was a long way down from here. There were even talks of a move to Mâ Âlâmëómë somewhere in the pipeline, but he was keeping those cards close to his chest. There had been rumours in the past and he had let his hopes get built up only to have them dashed.

So much worse that the nervous feeling - that stomach lurching sensation when he though about moving to a bigger club - was thinking that he had lost the respect of the other players here. This was just crazy! Why wasn't he better liked? He had to be the best player this country had ever produced.... Right? His poster was on bedroom walls in every town and city in this little country. Then why the hell were the only people who turned up to the pub, Thio Crillin and two nobodies, the latter he suspected had been there already.

The real reason he was setting such a pace, as he lead them all up the hill and into the town hall, was that he wanted to check and see where everyone was. He wanted to study the reactions on their faces and weigh up whether or not he was mistaken.

Port Christopher 3-0 Anthor
Goals: 10" Maitfield, 55" Bandos (pen), 84" Uist - Port Christopher

Line up: Laxium 6, Anderiz 7, Gonclaves 8, R.Wessel 7, Del Vertio 6, Neil 8, Maitfield 7, Bandos 8 (59- Popescu-Black 7), Rivera 8, M.Wessel 6, Uist 7 (89- Jameson 2)

There was no problem for Port Christopher in their opening World Cup 74 qualifier, as they put in a polished display to see off visitors Anthor. It was manager Jim Reid's first completive game in charge, and the former New Dundee man would have been delighted to have gotten the campaign off to a winning start on home soil.

This is when Port Christopher are at their best; a warm evening, playing at home against a lower ranked opposition who don't press them too hard. The Esportivan side made the most of it, and while the fans will have no doubt enjoyed themselves, they will be painfully aware that more challenging encounters lie ahead. The fans inside the Willox Street stadium didn't have to wait to long for an opening goal against Anthor however, after a strong start from the Small Schottic Territory. Tim Maitfield, who has been outstanding for his club Celtic Noviodunum this season in the Terannean League, carried over some of his form latching onto an Elisa Rivera ball to open the scoring after only ten minutes. A quick exchange between the Marinos Thimpodopoulos girl and captain Deigo Bandos, meant the former was free to cut inside the full-back and pick out Maitfield with an inch perfect pass. Although he is sometimes guilty of only having a plan A, on this occasion it worked as he slammed his shot low past the keeper to open his account for the qualifiers.

Despite having their tails up after the opening goal, Port Christopher were unable to capitalise on a number of first half chances, and head to head up the tunnel unable to add to their one goal lead. Top scorer Tony Uist passed up one of a number of chances, when he got too much on Aredhel Neil cross, sending the ball harmlessly over the bar.

In the second half Reid's players pushed on, and went close to doubling their lead straight from the kick-off. Bandos looked up and played a clever through ball to Moritz Wessel just inside the box. The New Dundee Star player couldn't find the target however, as his shot whizzed past the outside of the post. After this there was a sense that another goal had to come soon and when Rivera was carelessly upended in the box, Diego Bandos was on hand to dispatch the resultant penalty. Given the way that Port Christopher had seemed hell-bent on passing the ball over the line for most of the game, the penalty kick will have been a welcome relief to a side, which really needs to find its cutting edge.

One player in the side, however, who needs no invitation to move the ball forward is 16-year-old defender Liam Goncalves, who already looks to be forming a potent partnership with the likeminded Maitfield, down the left flank. It was from one of the teenager's typical surging runs that the third goal came, five minutes from the end. Gonclaves, who was part of the Dundee side promoted to the Schottic Premier League last season, managed to reach the by-line before cutting the ball back to teammate Aredhel Neil. The Blue Coast midfielder then had the perfect angle to curl a long ball into the path of Uist, who at full stretch managed to poke the ball past the keeper for a resounding opening day victory.

Port Christopher fans tuning in after the game must have wondered if their TVs were upside-down, as the 3-0 win put them top of their group on goal difference. It might only be one game in, but it is still an unfamiliar feeling for the side used to fighting to avoid last place. Jim Reid sounded ambitions in his interview, claiming the side were targeting a play-offs spot, and while this is probably unlikely, most fans will be at least looking forward to a better showing that last year. Next up for Port Christopher is a trip to The Medician Islands and what could be another winnable game, before they host Yttribia in a must win match if they are to have any hope of qualification. These next two games are crucial and Reid will be desperately hoping his players discover some grit before they go toe-to-toe with the group's second seeds.

Kitless Turori need... Kits

Eelandii, Turori :: An Open Request to the Kit-Making Nations of the Multiverse!!

With the recent untimely demise of the famous Audioslavian threadmaker Kirola, the Football Association of Turori (FAT) has been left in an uneviable position for the upcoming World Cup 74 qualifying campaign. They have no kits.

The Turori National Team turned its back on long time Vilitan kit maker 3WD early on in the modern era, in a move that equally outlined a demise for 3WD who have since lost a majority if not all of their business share to nearby Tropicorp Sports; 3WD existing solely in a physical sense in a small room at the Vilitan Football Association facilities for quick turnaround and special edition kit work.

Perhaps far more shockingly then the fact they turned their back on 3WD, however, was where the Turori National Team went for its new Kit Supply contract. Kirola. Born and bread on the shores of the once-salty oceans that had been saltified by the tears of millions of Audioslavian losers after World Cup failure after World Cup failure.

But the salt levels had normalized and the land of the Jaffacake had somehow become a winner. This was an attractive thought to the Turorians, who, with Audioslavia crossed off the list of the World Cup's biggest losers, felt they were next in line.

Having contested more World Cup quarter finals than any other nation in history - that also failed to ever progress beyond the Quarter Final stage at any time, the Turori Eels were regularly upended and knocked out by their Audioslave rivals. Maybe the old saying, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em was resonating through the halls in the Football Association of Turori at the time. Whatever the case may be, at first, the Kirolan's took the offering as a bit of a joke - producing some of the most ridiculous looking kits that anyone had ever seen.

Eventually, however, they started to see Turori as equals - worthy of a decent design. The Turorian would retain the kit until the dismantling of the Kirolan production system this past offseason. Now, Turori have had to go crawling back to the warehouse to see what they had left over. A few old 3WD kits with no number on the back of them would have to do for the time being, but it has left the Football Association of Turori frantically searching for a kit provider.

While they aren't too concerned about having a proper kit in Qualifying - even mismatching kits wouldn't be horrible as long as they were all the same color - they certainly don't want to jump out on the world stage without a proper, clean new look. As such, the Football Association of Turori are making an Open Call to Kit Designers world wide - Submit your designs for the Turori National Team's kit and the best design will be chosen by the end of World Cup 74 Qualifying!

The Football Association of Turori notes that Turori National Team kit designs should include the official colors of Turori shown to the right. If a change kit is proposed it is allowable to include the colors of Nigel the Eel, but is not required. Ideally, submission will be received, either by direct submission to the Football Association of Turori or by public submission to the official World Cup 74 Newswire, no later than the mid-way point of World Cup 74 qualifying, such that the Football Association of Turori have ample time to review all submissions, select a winning provider and, importantly, have the kits produced prior to any post-qualifying competition that the Turori National Team should qualify for.

So, Associated Godlands beat Flardania in the first World Cup qualifier, and it was really a joy to watch. Since I was aware that Flardania was going to lose, I let some Flardanian fans into the stadium and told my fans not to murder them (whether they followed that, I'm not entirely sure). When Flardania opened the scoring through some heathen, they were giddy as giddy could be. I watched, knowing that everything was about to come crashing down.

Then, in the 36th minute, we struck. The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ received the ball from Adam and dribbled past three Flardanian defenders, then slotted it into the net. They were so disappointed, it was hilarious. And then when the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made it 2-1... it was a moment to cherish. So much so that I decided not to execute the fans post game, instead letting them get similarly devastated at the return leg in Flardania, assuming the apocalypse hasn't struck and wiped out their entire nation by then.

So Associated Godlands won, and we are in our first step towards winning the World Cup and ridding the world of all the filth. But before the third coming of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the harbinger of the apocalypse, a few points.

- The Jesus Salute is NOT the Nazi salute. Stop calling it that or you will be executed. Besides, Nazis are heathens who will die in the apocalypse. Well-intentioned, but heathens nonetheless.

- What one person calls "genocide", I call "social reform".

That's it. Why does everyone say that we have the Nazi salute? I mean, there are worse comparisons, but a.) the Jesus salute is at a perfect 90 degree angle to the body, unlike the Nazi salute, and b.) we are a lot better than the Nazi heathen filth. Whatever. People who say that it's the Nazi salute are heathen filth themselves.

In other news, after a couple more recent executions, I'm down to fourteen daughters and eleven sons, unfortunately. Hopefully they'll last until the apocalypse.

Phoenix squeak by Santa Clice 1-0

In a cold, wintery game at the North Pole, Kaboomlandia defeated a team made up entirely of fat men in red suits. The Phoenix' 1-8-1 formation frustrated the offensive-minded Santa Clice all night long, forcing 23 offside calls over 90 minutes. The winning goal came just after halftime when Rene Allard found an opening:

"Kessler heads the ball up to Rene Allard. Allard looking for space outside on the Santa Clice, finds it. Cuts outside, dodges a defender. He's racing in, cuts back across the middle, shoots, GOAL! Rene Allard opens the scoring in the 47th minute!"

Phoenix all-world goalie Duncan McEachern was hot, making nine saves for the shutout. The team will next travel home to play the Royal Kingdom of Quebec.

Good day to you all! Welcome back to the Ezekiel Show, renewed once we managed to come up with some superfluously brilliant idea, tangentially related to the current World Cup which which be an interesting exercise for the watching viewers, even if only as a webseries now.

So in other news, I'm going to take off my trousers!

Only joking, though that was my first suggestion for a show idea. No, as you may be aware, the World Cup qualifiers are yet again upon us, and 140 nations will bravely fight it out to become one of the lucky 30 who will make it to the finals. This, as per usual, will occur using the boring, traditional method of 20x7 teams, which seems to have been the method used to determine which teams will make the finals since time immemorial.

This got myself and the team here at the Ezekiel Show rather depressed, [camera zooms in on his face] UNTIL [with a comedically large amount of echo] we had an idea. What if we use the best experts in coding and simulation to simulate a World Cup qualifying campaign, based on the regions which nations reside in. Not only this, but we will also be changing the qualification format in each region, changing it from just the standard double round robin format to all manner of things.

I'll hand you over to my main man Joel here, who will hopefully be able to fill you in about the details of our plan. Joel?

Thank you Ezekiel, pleasure to be here. Right, so for the purpose of this exercise, we have divided the multiverse into 4 categories. There are the three main sporting regions, Atlantian Oceania, Rushmore and our very own Esportiva, while everyone else goes into the "rest of World" category. Each of these 4 regions will be simulated using a different method of qualification.

Atlantian Oceana are the oldest of the sporting regions, and therefore the one most likely to want to maintain the status quo. They are also the most conservative bloc of nations in the World Cup and enjoy blocking any change, so we propose that nothing would change and they'd send nations to the World Cup via a series of double round robin groups, as we have now.

Rushmore are trying to stay relevant, and keep themselves on a level footing with Atlantian Oceania. The only way we believe that they can achieve that, is if they can basically have their top nations keep qualifying, cup after cup. As a result, they will undergo a complex series of playoffs, with the higher ranked nations having many possibilities to qualify, while lower ranked nations will have to keep winning in order to qualify.

That doesn't seem fair?

Not really, but it's what we imagine they'd do in this scenario.

As for Esportiva, we envisage something like a Casaran system to decide our qualifiers, as Esportiva doesn't quite have the history of the other regions and therefore isn't necessarily tied down to loving the current system. It also doesn't have the hierarchy of a region such as Rushmore and therefore would try to opt for arguably the fairest system.

In the Rest of the World region, they would undergo a two tier qualifying system. This is because of the size of the region, at 70 nations, it's half of the total qualifers, and contains many lower ranked newcomers. First, all of the lower ranked nations would compete in a short qualifying double round robin, before the top X number of nations would move to the second round, another group stage, but this time a single round robin group stage hosted in The Holy Empire (a neutral venue), with the Holy Empire themselves playing their games in a created "hostile environment" for neutrality and fairness. They live in the Dreamed Realm, they can do whatever they like.

Excellent news, thank you Joel. One more question though. With 32 places up for grabs and 4 different regions (all of differing sizes and strengths) how did you determine how many nations from each region would advance?

Good question Ezekiel. Well, we took the number of qualifiers from each region from the last 13 World Cups (going back to Apox's first entry into the World Cup, back in World Cup 61) and averaged the number of qualifiers they sent to the World Cup. This was the data we collected.

Region WC61 WC62 WC63 WC64 WC65 WC66 WC67 WC68 WC69 WC70 WC71 WC72 WC73
Atlantian Oceania 9 11 13 15 16 14 12 7 11 10 10 13 11
Rushmore 13 12 8 9 8 10 6 7 5 8 5 7 9
Esportiva 1 1 1 1 3 0 5 9 9 8 11 8 4
Others 9 8 10 7 5 8 9 9 5 6 6 4 4

Averages:
Atlantian Oceania 136/13 = 10.46
Rushmore 107/13 = 8.23
Esportiva 61/13 = 4.69 + 1
Others 90/13 = 6.92 + 1

As each region averaged a touch less than expected for their qualifiers, to ensure that number equalled 32, we added an extra qualifier to those regions where they had the highest decimal number. This was done in addition for correctly rounding the decimal places, giving the following number of qualifiers per region.

AO - 10; Rushmore - 8; Esportiva - 6; Others - 8

Thank you Joel! In the upcoming episodes, we'll be taking you through the process behind this simulations and giving you the results. In the meantime, enjoy the real football, and pray for Apox's safe passage to the finals. See you next time!

The Apoxian national team opened their qualifying campaign with a strong win over minnows Danina, Olim Benzari fielding basically a second choice team and still the team earned a strong win at the Royal Stadium. Up front, the rampant duo of Corinna McKenna and Alpha Gandhi caused problems right from the beginning, Alpha Gandhi opening the scoring in the 10th minute after being unleashed by Luxulya St. Cleer's through ball. Also performing admirably was the highly rated James Palmisano, who was involved in setting up the second goal for Eric Abbraciabene, before scoring himself later on, after a slow build up of play, ultimately pouncing on the rebound of Alpha Gandhi's volley from far out.

Allez la Fluvique!: the national team won 4-3 over Sandwich Territories in a evening drama

In a changing and exciting game, the Fluviqueans celebrated in the first matchday of the qualifiers.

It was a double debut: the first qualifier matchday and the first official match for the new manager, Scott Muyskens. Sam Gonza shined once again and scored three goals for the national team. The Fluviquean star made a hat-trick and Dennis Castanginnet scored his first goal with the senior team. The white foxes ended with 10 men due to the expulsion of Bernard Pullian.

The first half left many things for the analysis: in one side show a Fluviquean team flimsy and lacking in concepts of play in defense and, in turn, slow and erratic in midfield; but in the other side was explosive and forceful in attack, with an extraordinary Gonza.

Perhaps the decision of include two players between 19-20 years in defence, putting Augsburg on the bench. Also, the start of Mhago, in a recent comeback after a two months injury, and Paul Di Angello with some problems with the ball, confused the team and made it slow. In the first 25 minutos, Sandwich Territories with a 4-3-3, had the best chances and even scored the first goal at 18 minutes, in clear offside.

After, Muyskens changed: the initial 4-3-3 turned in a 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2, depending on who had the ball possession and the team improved slightly. Despite that, Sandwich Territories was superior with their order and discipline, however Fluvique had the "broadsword": a certain Sam Gonza.

The best player in the world, at 36 and 41 minutes scored two amazing goals and he turned the scoreboard. In the first goal, he shoot from outside the area, after a great pass of Adam Wilde and, in the second, he evaded two players and later the goalkeeper, after an assist of Di Angello. Before and after, the Fluviquean goalkeeper Andy Paribas saved three times the tricolour goal.

The first ten initial minutes of the second half were the best of the Muyskens team: Di Angello (4') and Wilde (9') had the third goal, but failed in the definition. This period was a mirage, as the team beyond defending with 4 or 5 men, never looked solid and the high pressing did not work. Then, Sandwich Territories, with order and playing good football, took the lead again of the match with goals at 15 and 31 minutes, with a huge mistake of the Fluviquean defenders in the third goal.

Fluvique was pure confusion. But in that bad moment, the worst in the game, there was a change in attitude. And after 36 minutes, Dennis Castanginnet's head made the 3-3.

And the end was like a movie: first Rodrigo De la Mesea saved a goal in the line, after a ball deflected by Paribas (41'). Later, Bernard Pullian, but the ball exploded over the crossbar. And, in the last chance appeared, by third time in the score, the best player of the world: Gonza ran with the ball in the middle, touched with Pullian, received the ball, avoided two players and threw the ball over the goalkeeper. The ball flew over many heads and finally entered slowly in the goal.

The tricolour bench exploded, with substitutes and the staff jumping into the field to celebrate the goal and they buried Gonza under a mountain of people. In that crazy celebration, Bernard Pullian was sent off after insult some local fans. However, that was only a little stain in a incredible victory to start the illusion road to the World Cup.

continued from here

Katarina was glad that she had been delegated alongside Molly – it would be a welcome relief to be with someone she liked and trusted, and wasn't constantly seeking to degrade her – it would probably help her work better. The pair walked back out onto the cold Bastion street – there was a hint of snow in the air and Molly dug her hands further in her pockets, but Katarina was used to weather like this, and worse, so thought nothing of it. Molly’s car was parked about 50 metres down from the building in a lay-by, a Bastion City Council badge plastered on the wind-shield.

“Is that legal?” Katarina asked

“Is what legal?”
“Having a Bastion City Council badge in your wind-shield?”
“We’ll do a lot to be able to do our job. If we didn't have that badge, the nearest we’d be able to get for the period of time we wanted would be a multi-storey car-park six blocks away. Not ideal, but we’ll just say we’re with the police if anyone questions us.”

“Fair enough.” Katarina had learnt to put aside any moral complaints when on operation. Molly clicked the doors unlocked and Katarina walked round to get in the passenger’s side. There were two take-away cups of coffee in the cup holders and Katarina went for it instantly. Molly settled in in the driver’s seat and turned on the radio.

“So how does this stake-out deal work, Molly? I've seen it in the movies, but they always cut to the action and skip the sitting around.”

“Well, we do exactly that. Just keep your eyes open for anything suspicious. Riley might be inside for up to 5 or 6 hours, but if you think that’s bad, before you arrived Lauren and I had a stake-out for three days. We were on an intel mission in Valladares, scouting out some guy, I can’t remember – and he didn't leave his house, nor open his blinds for three days, leaving Lauren and I to sit in our car, listen to Valladar pop music and eat this weird, like, ginger candy. As a result I hate the taste of ginger now. Then he left his house, got in his car and fucked off. Three days and we got now’t.”

“Well for everyone’s sakes I hope we don’t get anything today.”

The heavy morning traffic gradually thinned as people went to work and the early morning chaos calmed down. This particular avenue was rather bereft of shops and restaurants, with a majority of buildings just plain office blocks. As a result foot traffic was significantly light, and anything untoward would stick out.

The hours ground by – Katarina soon became versed in one particular economic matter in Eura as a result of hearing three consecutive news broadcasts, as well as an in-depth programme about the issue in question. Katarina was just about to make a run to the coffee shop across the street when Molly nudged her and pointed down the street.

“Look.” She murmured, putting down her newspaper “White van, two behind this blue car.”

Katarina sat up and quickly identified what Molly was pointing at. An anonymous white van, no markings, tracking down the road ever so slightly slowly than the two cars in front of it. It’s occupants were doused in shadow, but there were definitely two of them.

“Why that van?”
“It’s moving slower than the other cars in the lane, almost as if they’re deliberately looking at something.”
“Do you think? Or is it just an old shitty van that can’t do over 20?”
“It could be, but you can’t be too careful. Note down the plates and I’ll shoot it off to Mike to run it.”

Katarina obliged and jotted the van’s number plate down on an empty section of newspaper. The van passed on Katarina’s side and she stared across the street towards it, trying to make out the occupants. They were two men, definitely, but both wore thick winter hats and coats which meant any more defining features were difficult to make out. As soon as the van had passed, Molly rang up Michael Oatley, one half of the team’s research unit, based at a separate Clyne-owned location in the city. The phone rang twice before he picked up.

“Oatley here, what can I do?”
“Can you run some plates for us, just a quick check-up, immediate history.”
“Sure, give ‘em to me.”

Katarina read the plate out aloud and the sound of Oatley typing away echoed through the phone line. A few seconds later he began. “OK, first registered in 2004, was owned by a haulage firm. Sold into private hands in 2012.”
“Any impoundings, clampings, whatever?”
“Yeah, it was impounded by the Bastion Constabulary last year after one of their numerous clampdowns on organised crime. Was retrieved two weeks later, presumably for cash. Since then I've got no road tax, no test reports, hasn't been heard from since.”
“Suspicious?”
“Maybe. There’s a fair spot of unauthorised manual labour in Bastion, it could well be for that. Some suggest there could be up to 5,000 completely unregistered vehicles in Bastion at any one time.”
“OK, well, thanks for the info. See you later.”

Molly hung up and the radio buzzed back into life.

“What do you reckon?” Katarina asked.
“Don’t know, just keep an eye out.”
They were quiet for a couple of minutes, with Katarina deep in thought. She then spoke.
“Molly?”
“Yep?”
“Do you ever have any problems, being…a woman in this business?”
“Not really. You learn to get by…in certain ways.”
“Such as…?” She replied tentatively.

“Come on, Kat, don’t be naïve.” She paused and cleared something from her eyes. She then sighed and continued “Look, Kat, whether you like it or not, sex is a weapon – well, an incentive. When I first turned up here, I was young, I was inexperienced, people wouldn't listen to me. But they would start listening to me if…you know. I'm not proud of it, I wish I didn't have to do it, but it’s how the system works. It just makes things easier – if there’s something I want, I need, there’s a far easier way to achieve it than barking away at people who aren't going to listen to you. In this environment, what with all these guns and explosions, there’s plenty of testosterone flying around, and it’s quite easy to…well, men aren't going to resist me, or more precisely, they aren't going to say no. Obviously now I've garnered a little more respect, so it’s not necessary any more, but it was something that was needed to get things done. I think it’s different for you, because you’re foreign and you've come through a different system, plus…”

“Plus?”

“Well, you’re pretty scary, like, in a good way – people respect you. I mean, I was talking to Garfield and some of the other guys who work in Hornchurch, and they said how you have this kind of, aggressive aura about you – whenever you enter a room, people look up and take notice, hell, if any 5ft 10” Szavda whom I knew could kill me with one hit walked into a room, I’d pay attention. You clearly know how to get what you want, but you don’t have to go through any of the demeaning shit I did. People respect you because they have the knowledge that you could beat the shit out of them. Plus your appearance always puts men on the back foot when you meet them, they naturally want to please you, so you get the edge in any negotiation.”

“That’s a bit of a simplistic way to put it.”

“s’true though” Molly responded through a bite of a croissant.

Katarina grimaced and stared out of the window. She’d never considered herself as an aggressive person, she had even gone out of her way to discard her inherent prickly Szavda nature when she had started in Eura – trying to be equally polite and courteous to any person she met until she was given a remit to be rude to them.

“How many times, out of interest, did you…you know, use it as a bargaining chip?"

“Ah, gee, I don’t know Kat – more than once, less than 10, it wasn't always…”

Katarina interrupted her. “Molly, look, it’s the same van. Same plates.” She picked up the notebook with the plates on it and confirmed her belief.

It was the same van, coming the opposite way that it had driven past a couple of minutes ago. Molly lowered the window and stared at the van as it drove on past the pair. The vehicle slowed outside the building before the office block, before pulling into an open loading bay.

“I don’t like this Kat, load up and cover me, I'm going to check it out.”

Katarina obliged and put a clip into her pistol. Molly opened the door and stepped out, before rounding the car and stepping onto the pavement. She slipped into the crowd and began to move the street towards where the van had pulled up. Whilst following Molly, Katarina caught a glimpse of another van coming down the same way. She then flicked her attention back to Molly, who had neared the first van. Suddenly, its rear doors kicked open, and two men jumped out. Katarina opened the door and stepped out onto the sidewalk, her heart racing now. She stashed her gun in the holster and began to hurry down the pavement. She looked first at Molly, who had moved onto the tarmac behind the van, then to the two men twenty yards in front of her. She gasped when she saw what they were holding, hanging by straps under their shoulders, snub-nose sub-machine guns. She opened her mouth to call out to Molly, but the cry cracked in her throat as the sound of gunfire pierced through the air.

CENIAL, Ceni - Travelers at Ceni's main international airport, Cenial International (CEX), are long used to seeing the name and logo of their country's flag carrier, Ceniana, on check-in desks, gateside markers, and on the large volume of planes that go in and out of the large airport. However, they may have to get used to a new sight, as Air Electrum and Ceniana, two of the biggest sporting world carriers, have merged into Air Terranea in a move that creates a strong competitor to two major Quebecois airlines, Aeroquebec and Spiritair, in an increasingly competitive airline industry. The combined company hopes, however, that its Astyrian operations, superior service, and long-range connections can give it the edge against its competitors. Air Terranea's recent expansion throughout Rushmore, Atlantian Oceania, and Esportiva also bides well for the combined company as they start operations this March.

Although many of the details have not been released, aviation experts widely assume that the larger carrier Ceniana, maybe five or six times the size of the carrier it is merging with, will likely own a majority stake in the airline, although with significant input from former Air Electrum managers. Ceniana CEO Xina Iesan, who has led the company through a renaissance in which it has grown in revenue and profitability, will likely remain on as CEO of the combined company, while Air Electrum CEO Karl Page will likely continue on as a board member in the new company. The combined company will have more than 300 destinations throughout the world, a good portion of them focused in Astyria and the three sporting regions. The Ceniana brand Javelin will become part of the new company, while Global Wings Airways, the company's Astyrian arm, will remain as such under the new arrangement. As part of the consolidation, the companies have announced they will not add services from their other new hub to less profitable or further destinations with not as much traffic, to save costs. As for fleets, a good portion of both carriers' fleets will remain constructed by Monteluci, although the carriers have hinted that they are interested in buying more planes from a "qualified bidder", whoever that may be. As for focus, the company will center its operations on the three sporting regions, and most specifically their area of expertise, Terranea, despite sometimes stiff competition from Euran carriers. However, both CEOs believe that they have the opportunity to take a significant market share in the region because of their long-range services, their business and first class services, and their large amount of connections.

"I believe this is a great opportunity for our businesses to expand and grow together in this region as well as in other regions," Ceniana CEO Xina Iesan said in the press release announcing the merger. "Rushmore has lots of great opportunities for our business to expand, and I'm proud that this merger has taken place. Not only will it help our combined company represent Terranea to the world with great service, low prices, and excellent connections, but it will also help us to compete with Areoquebec and Spiritair as well as augment each other's routes and connections. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for us, and neither of our boards wanted to pass this opportunity up." Air Electrum CEO Karl Page echoed those statements in his own press release confirming the change. "As of today, my company, Air Electrum, and Ceniana will be one company, Air Terranea. I am proud to announce this merger because our companies complement each other and offer our customers a great way to travel throughout the multiverse without baggage hassles, long layovers, or poor service in flights. We still reaffirm our commitment to the most excellent service possible and the valuable human touch, as does Ceniana, and this merger will help us to expand our great service to more regions in the world."

The company's flagship services will likely remain Cenial-Kingsford (a major city in the trading world), Cenial-Vitalita, and Cenial-Bastion, as well as the addition of Centralis-Kingsford, Centralis-Vitalita, and Centralis-Bastion. Hubs for the new carrier will be located at Centralis and Cenial in Rushmore, Mardi in Esportiva, and Jansberg in Atlantian Oceania as well as New London and Holy City in Astyria (with Global Wings Airways, though). The Cenial-Centralis route, as well as the Cenial-Bastion and Centralis-Bastion routes, will form a new triangle of popular and profitable routes, with the new combined carrier running up to two dozen services on each every day.

In addition to the merger, the press release also announced several major airport rights coups. One of them was Zenic, where the company secured an Emperor's Seal of Trade, which enabled them to operate within the country and operate routes both to, from, and within the country, including its 10 largest cities New Citium, Coohen, Laar City, Binar, City of Indigo, Quia, Hutiberg, Old Maiz, Deline, and San Valerie. As an extra bonus, Zenic does not have a large domestic or international airline industry, so the company will have an excellent operation to run routes all over Rushmore to Zenic as well as routes within Zenic itself. Also closer to home in Rushmore, the carrier announced expanded services to Polaaskan, fairly close to Ceni and Electrum, as well as a proposed expansion to Nuevo Caracas, where the carrier can have a strategic spot in a promising economic hub close to all three sporting regions with airports in Tachira, Carabobo, Maturin, and Altamira.

The new combined carrier also announced an expansion into Esportiva, such as the declaration of Mardi as a new Air Terranea hub and expansion into Red Blackiland's rich aviation market after a foothold in Cestara proved successful. Air Terreanea also announced it would expand into Nephara and Brenecia, two of the region's most esteemed sporting nations, as it gained slots to operate in Sabrefell, Treason, Crisisbless, and Vermillion in Nephara and North Hall and Rozelle in Brenecia. Those slots allow the company to expand its Esportivan reach as well as capitalize on the sporting pride of the Nepharim team as they almost certainly will qualify for the World Cup again this cycle, allowing Air Terranea to capitalize on that fandom, as well as the fandom of the infamous ultras from Red Blackiland. Finally, Air Terranea announced its new hub in Atlantian Oceania to be Jansberg, Semarland, where the company had enthusiastic support from local authorities hoping to increase revenue from travelers coming through the new hub, as well as announcing an expansion into Cathair, a large segment in the Audioslavian and Atlantian Oceanian market.

Aviation analyst Eseph Lorian believes that the deal can actually be beneficial for consumers in the growing sports segment. "Realistically, neither of the two carriers had significant overlap presence on any routes, minus perhaps Electrum. This means that Ceniana can augment its route structures with previously unavailable routes and that there will be more competition with the likes of Aeroquebec and Spiritair, two of the carriers that fancy themselves as the only choices for many travelers, and price themselves accordingly." Lorian continued that the merger could bring lower prices as the airlines would now be forced to compete for market share, and that can only be beneficial for consumers. "There are only a couple of major airlines that connect most of the sporting regions together, and with this new merger, Air Terranea can expand its market share, reduce costs, and help to take down the big Aeroquebec/Spiritair duopoly in some markets." Lorian also believes that the expansion into Zenic and the hub in Jansberg is a smart move. "Jansberg is almost near Quebec and can easily serve as a hub for all three sporting regions. This gives Air Terranea more competition and more of a market coming into Atlantian Oceania."

"...three minutes to go, and Schiavonia's return to competitive international football looks to be going pretty badly. Two-one to Judinct..."

"A..."

"I'm ignoring you now, Kev, your mic is turned off every time I say that word... as the home team push on for a third. The cross comes in, but O'Connor comes to collect. Without his commanding presence, the Sloths would have been dead and buried long ago."

"He's better than I remember."

"Well he has been playing all this time, so he has improved considerably."

"Clearly so."

"And his quick kick out goes to Adams, who holds the ball up well. He's played well tonight, and does so again, laying the ball off to Chester, but she can't make the return pass."

"I like the new guy, Jenny. He seems to have settled in pretty well."

"Indeed he has. And now Cueto breaks up the play, lays the ball off to Sanderson, that's a long and optimistic ball, but Adams is onto it... holds off his marker, Chester is up there, but here comes Godivaaaa..."

"What a save!"

"Great reactions from the Jud... home keeper. A decent height for saving, but that was hit hard."

"The defence have really shut the gate on Schiavonia since they took the lead, but that was their chance."

"Maybe that's why their name sounds like a gate closing."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you're the one who claims that it sounds like a gate closing."

"Do I?"

"Of course you do. Every time I say Judinct..."

"Where? I still can't see..."

"There you go, you're doing it again!"

"Well, I heard a gate closing."

"No you didn't! You heard the name of the home team!"

"I swear I..."

"Look, you've been doing this for the whole preview show and the entire ninety-plus minutes of the match. And all of half-time."

"Honestly, I don't realise I'm doing it. You'll just have to stop saying Judinct... I swear I just heard..."

"Kev... You just said that yourself!"

"I did?"

"Yes! And you do realise that we're going to have to play them again at the Kind Francesco Stadium?"

"We do? Oh... we do."

"We're going to have to get you hypnotherapy or something before the return game. And, in-amongst all of that, we've missed Adams nodding home the corner to equalise for the Sloths! Two-all, and surely there won't be time for anything else!"

"We scored?"

"Yes."

"When?"

"When you turned around to look for the gate you claimed to hear."

"Ah. So it wasn't a gate clinking shut, it was the boom of a header hitting the back or the net!"

"Er... something like that."

"That explains everything."

"It really doesn't, as the final whistle blows and the game is over. New man Alan Adams the hero, saving the Sloths from defeat at the last and earning a two-all draw away from home in their opening game here in Judinct."

"I co..."

"And with that, my pre-cup prediction of the Sloths' record is still on! Now, have you stopped prattling on about that gate yet?"

"Sorry. I just hope your prediction doesn't come true, because that would mean... is five defeats in a row, now? And I don't think I can take such an abject period."

"Well, two things - one, it would be at least six, because in the next round of games we have a friendly against the fourth-ranked team in the multiverse, Vilita. And two, your ridiculous prediction is already not going to happen!"

"There are still eleven group games we can win!"

"You saw us today, Kev. Is that team going to get any kind of result against two of the top four teams in all of football?"

"Well.. you never know. Anything can happen on the day."

"It can, but it won't."

"Don't be so defeatist."

"Never mind. We can only assume that the truth will be somewhere closer to my prediction than yours, but let's find out, when Vilita make their trip to the KFS. We'll be back then for another episode of World Cup Sloths!"

"But... how can we?"

"What do you mean?"

"It's a friendly. Not a World Cup match."

"Fair point, but it's the name of the show. Friendly Sloths just doesn't cut it. That sounds like someone going into the forests and gaining the trust of wildlife."

"Well, can we call it something else?"

"Like what?"

"Like 'Football Match Against Vilita Which Is Not A Competitive International But A Friendly In Amongst The Early Stages Of The World Cup 74 Qualifying Campaign Sloths', perhaps?"

"Well, you can call it that. But I'm going to shorten it, if you don't mind."

"OK. How?"

"I'm going to take 'Football Match Against Vilita Which Is Not A Competitive International But A Friendly In Amongst The Early Stages Of The' away from the beginning, then '74 Qualifying Campaign' out before the word 'Sloths'."

"So... hang on... what does that leave us with?"

"World Cup Sloths."

"It does roll of the tongue a little easier, I have to admit."

"Then tune in to World Cup Sloths next time, when Vilita come to the King Francesco Stadium for a kick about. Until then, from Judinct, it's go..."

"There's that ruddy gate again! Now where..."

"I'll say goodbye on Kev's behalf as well as my own. Goodbye!"

Our history #2 - About Redinxson, the capital of Red Blackiland

Image

Redinxson, today,is the capital of Red Blackiland, substituing Blackberry more later.Have your foundation in the 13th century, was a one of the atheist/skepticism revolution cribs and the born of the growth of medieval empires that more later would turn into a nation, known for its leadership in technology and science, military affairs and equipments, high intelligence agencies and military technologic equipments facilities, music (specially classic music and rock),government, education, museums and nationalism and proud to be a Red Blackilandian.
As RB grow up more and more with time,Redinxson did it too,the leaders made it the center of culture and the arts, as well as the Army.Under the responsability from the first leader of the first medieval empire of Red Blackiland,Thomas Vertzlung I,he thought that for he can build a strong and great nation in hard time,he'll need Redinxson as a strong center with tough defense and bellic power, because of it,your growth was encouraged by his determination to build a great military power and bravure, with the past of the times, with the fact that the Army needed more men,and picked it from small set of islands near these lands with the same ethnity as the old Red Blackilandians.
Half of Redinxson was now mainly a military fort with an armoury, helping some local foundations with the line of prodution of the shields and armored heavily materials, turn this city into a power potency in military equipments production with a new line of gates, swords, shields and other equipments. But not only this, the city was strong and had a commerce/residences part too, became powerful in textiles and clothing (a strong enterprise is responsible for making Dunkelheer,Dunkeluftzweig and Dunkel Kriegewaltmarine uniforms),chemicals, mechnical, with the population growth as the Redinxson territory was anexated to other parts, bureaucracy and military had became bigger and other smaller industries and districts was incorporated to Redinxson activities. But isn't only that,as we said in the previous article,Meskitáh had a hanseatic league with other cities, and one of these is Redinxson, the most famous Meskitáh kontor (kontor means office) from the small region Schautzbuntz, from the central city of Meskitáh had a strong connection with the merchant guilds from Deorihio,in Redinxson and these two made long routs by sea to build strong and big markets, giving profit for the two cities and helping the growth of Red Blackiland into a real nation or empire in medieval times more fast.
With all of the central responsability in Redinxson, became the central of the medieval Red Blackiland, imperial government and the military establishment growned too much, along with the bigger appearences of rich bankers and industrialists. The Reichregierung (the central parliament building) with the central authority was divided in parts, one to took with small crime activities, other with the civil areas of interests like public health care and transportation, other with science advances and technology, one with economy and industries and other with culture incentive. This division helped to generate the fact that sanitary conditions in the city had became too good,at contrary from big part in cities of other countries, improving the working confidence of workers and the growth of production, museums were being built and enlarged and more music was made,a big development of industrial areas and more complex residences with gothic architecture, the government supported classic music shows and operas, building small playhouses through the city. After that,Red Blackiland entered in some big wars and Redinxson was the military center of the country,a true symbol of bravure to the soldiers from the entire country.
In religion,a interesting fact towards this city/state,the only single sights of religion that the country have, are the well-wishing of nordic mithology, specially in few rural small villages inherited by the old small Red Blackilandian islands.
The city's climate is a maritime temperate climate,by your position between rivers, specially the Great Redinxson River, with larger temperature differences during the year.Summers are warm and humid with average high temperatures of 20–24 °C,can low until 14º C,the winters are cool with average high temperatures of 1º C - 3º C can low until -1º C to -3º C.Around of the city, are located low-lying marshy woodlands and forests (one of these went to a patriotic music from the Army) with a series of lakes and great rivers with a little glacial valley and mountains.
In the stands #3 - Connection between music and football

Image

"Eta, eta, eta, Red Black Indian or football, woman and rock'n'roll. My God how this is good "... The music 'Futebol, woman and Rock'n'roll 'written in the 90s by Dr. Sin band - with the participation of the mythological narrator Fabian Schmitzer and its famous vignettes, shows a predilection not unanimous, but common to men of Red Blackiland: the combination of football and music. Women do not share, because now form a large audience in the stadiums. Increasing the representation of musical styles beyond rock'n'roll, it is a fact that the mixture football and music are part of Brazilian popular culture since long. The inspiration for this combination, special element to the result and vibration in the stadiums, bars and homes, which is not always popular knowledge. Stories and compositions end up losing over time. An example of little known music is 'Foot-ball' recorded by all Lima Vieira & Co., probably in 1912, and considered by many researchers as the first song that united football and music. However, we do not know the author and even their background or circumstances of inspiration. A curiosity lost in time.
The researcher and journalist Hildago Bernitz, through his book titled `The Soccer connection on National Music makes a chronological organization of the presence of music in the popular football culture and well confirms this concept. Defender of the national culture, Bernitz is one of many scholars who help to preserve this part of our history and recorded in his book interesting facts relating to several mostly forgotten compositions linked to the old Briton sport, such as: `The Amateur' (1970) in the genre of humor, composed of Ismael Hugtzler and Fabian Schmeltzer, it was the first song on the World Cup; 'And in the box!, 17-3 '(1972), composed by Eduard Smeller, first gear humorous about football; the tricolor The Strip has in his honor the'Cassino' tango composed by Ivan Gertz and 'Football’' (1980), composed of Lulis Vergen and Peterz Varde, including the first song on the sport in breach of fashion genre. In his book, there are curiosities like the information that the former shirt ten selection, the father of Felipinho, Manuel Schwartz, also a composer, is the most honored player of the national music, closely followed by the father of Carmona, Igor Carmona, another 10 shirt and idol Mulholland, most cheerleading team still in the country. Despite the glories of Schwartz and Carmona, the team with the most songs written in his honor is Bluebéhrry Cavaliers. Heard about your work, Vergen said that "this issue is of utmost importance in the national popular culture and should be constantly explored to great stories are not lost over the years," he said.
Forgetting is not the case for one of the most performed songs in the stadiums of Red Blackiland, especially in the Red Glorious, and that could be sung by the supporters of the four big clubs in Rio, `The Campeão', authored by Hugo Bolitz. Just the fact that unite rival fans would be an interesting question, but the revelation by the author supporter Ferentásctvaros that the samba was custom a supporter of The Strip, arouses greater curiosity. Bolitz said that "music was commissioned by a friend of mine supporter of The Strip and made during a Britenburg bus trip to Rondel, small regions of the strip, a city in which he lived." Humming, he clarified that the original version began with "Sunday ... I go to the Red Glorious, i’ll cheer for The Strip that I'm a fan." With the traditional smile on his face stops singing and complements stating that "this is a true heresy for a composer supporter Ferentásctvaros," laughs the official interpreter of the ultras club. But Bolitz soon realized the "mistake" and decided to change the letter "taking the The Strip stop," he said in the speech trickster. Thus turned his samba in a hymn of the stadiums to replace 'The Strip' by' i’ll cheer for the team that I'm a fan ', popularized by a strategy that cost him, he said, a "high gravel." He managed with a friend to touch music in the Red Glorious speaker in a game of The Strip and the rental of a van that circled the stadium running and making the compact distribution with the music.
The Cultural Centre in Redinxson hosted in 2004 a series of concerts that honored the great Bolitz. This cartoon was made for the graphic material and the stage shows.
Another composer who liked the largest Twisted River, but with specific songs, was Gerlitzer - who managed the impressive fact renew the hymns of 11 teams in the country. According to the broadcaster Mattheus Gerdal, which began on radio in 1960 and is in the RED Sports radio since the '50s, "the idea came from Paul Marc journalist's challenge, which had the 'Happy Train' program, radio Headline Now . He challenged the composer to create 11 songs in very short time, "he says. The winners would be Athletic Meskitáh, Port Tudor, Easter Redinson and West Rindxson and other teams with history but in amateur divisions or failed it, according to researcher Ludgard Auriel, "he did not receive a song, but a song of love to a loving passion Gerlitzer in the land of great rivers, "he says. The point is that Gerlitzer took to end the "service". So, "Paul Marc had the idea to invite him to her apartment and, upon arrival, the radio went out, locked the door and left the composer with water, pen and paper to complete the hymns," Gerdal says that complements stating that "in the late afternoon the phone rang in the newsroom of radio and was Gerlitzer warning to Paul who had managed to complete the compositions," says happy veteran journalist and President of ICN Institute (Incentive National Culture)
Hymns fell in popular taste and the traditional Team hymn Meskitáh "Meskitáh, Athletic, your glory is to fight," written by former goalkeeper of the house Louis Fontz, took place in stadiums apotheosis "once Meskitáh always Meskitáh ..." and so it was with the crowd of Doherty and the "let's all sing from the heart ..."; the fans of The Strip smoky by talc and the smoke sings "Am tricolor heart ..."; the crowd of West Rindxson with doubt at the time, but playing the "West, Redinxson, champion since ..." and Ferentásctvaros the crowd, led by the composer, in "I will twist, twist, twist ..." Gerlitzer became the most sung composer in stadiums. But it was not the composer that most thrilled fans with a chorus singing his composition.
This glory who had been Gerd Marzel (1909-2008) - which now has a statue at the entrance of Woddlische neighborhood and was one of those responsible for several successes Irisna Berhard. The magical moment of his life happened in a match of an international tournament between teams, held in the country in which more than 152 thousand people who watched the rout 6-1 from our national team on your opponent, decided to sing together - probably until then the record of people in choir, his ‘A brave night’ composition, written with Albert Schmenzel and recorded by Ivan Petthard - `the most patent rádio' in 1942. the great composer of the time, not tired of repeating in his interviews that moment that originally had nothing to do with football, as follows: "it was a surprise that marked me forever. Were nearly 200 thousand people singing together and only one crying. Did not sing, just I cried. They were sweet and gentle tears "(Journal), a cultural event that united football and Brazilian popular music. That happened with ‘A brave night’ become recurring with other songs and slowly twisted were appropriating popular songs, many with their altered lyrics to celebrate the games of their teams. With cheerleaders and ultras also emerged composers stages responsible for amplification of unreleased songs and adaptations.
Mattzer
Disk Erwin Gerhard: "Mattzer".
Music is a reality in football stadiums. Among the already distant year of 1952 until today, when fans of Mulholland sings funk "The ‘caô’ ended (repeat) Carmona arrived!" (caô is a slang used here for a lie or a conflict), Many successes have ended up in the stadiums and the composers of the inspiration came out of lawns, enabling popular hits of artists celebrating made of athletes, clubs and selection. A classic case is that of Erwin Gerhard. One of his many songs about football was 'Mattzer'. Originally launched in 'Bem' disk and immortalized in the voice of Lise Holsenstatt, he praised the former striker Mulholland, Igor Carmona. The inspirational bid happened on January 15, 1974 when the Mulholland faced Spartak Vantouxé the International Summer Tournament, within the Red Glorious. The 'angel' the hills (Hills is a reference to striking geography Mulholland), wearing shirt 12 in red and black, came off the bench and, after 33 minutes of the second half came with inspiration, love and emotion to make a move heavenly towards goal. He dribbled two defenders, took a touch way past the keeper and explosion on goal only not filed ball and all because he had humility in goal. A true home run that made the magnetic (and grateful) Twisted Mulholland sing the victory by 1 to 0. However, the music festival had a course alteration when the match ended up in court due to a misdirection made the player who decided to charge for the honor. Thus, the composer changed the lyrics to 'Mate-zer'. A shot that hit his own foot and spotted his farewell lawns to enter the history of Brazilian music.
The achievements of the national football team are also celebrated in verse and prose in music from the recording Barinzinha crying, Marzel partner in 'Carinhoso` entitled '1-0'. The song refers to a match of our national team against an opponent on held on May 29, 1940, in the Bluébehrry Cavaliers stadium, by the end of a cup. The pioneer team of the country tied it by 0-0, during the overtime, until the third minute, the right wing Nero Bohengard went to the bottom line makes the cross for Ivan Mattis, who kicked into the goal. Nuñez, rival goalkeeper, gave rebound and Mattenrich, the first ace of Red Blackiland, scored the winning goal. The first major achievement of the football being celebrated by a 10 MPB shirt. Interestingly, for many years, music was only instrumental. Only in 1996, Nelson received Hugard letter that was accompanied by Julius Lutzengard.
Other hits were sung from north to south as the anthem of Doherty 'Go forward Doherty' composed of Theodor Huzenghard originally were "ninety million in action, will put forward Doherty, save the squadron ..." Following the trail of Mattenrich, other players have ventured to cross the middle line field between football and music. One of the most successful was the left side of Mulholland, Peter Brozen, 'the maestro' that with samba in the foot on lawns outside the country made more than 300 thousand fans go the shops, in the 80s and 90s, to buy the compact of 'Happy people', popularly known as 'Fly crow, Fly', a related music selection in the '80s, alluding speed, coolness and cunning crow to be the team symbols. Instead of golden boot, the holder of the selection of the 90 went gold. The music has become very important in football.
Returning to rock and football, one of the most performed songs - and that is in the official cd's line of Baptism of Fire 61, held in our country and the Republic of Ceni, is 'A afternoon futebol', made by fan of The Strip, Malius Getthard in partnership with one Cruce Estrella supporter, Gelen Brokenhardt. As ball on the beam does not change the score and need ball into the net to make the score, the philosopher of football art Gonaldo, which already had its exalted name in music and is a deep knowledge of the relationship football, woman and rock'n'roll ( in rhythm of classical music) was approached to discuss the issue and gave the definitive tone, like a slam dunk, "Football and music go hand in hand," says the five-time champion. The rest are many stories to be discovered and perpetuated.

With it being the first game, the team really did not know what to expect, with limited experience and almost no time in playing compared to every other team. There was not much expectation of how to do in the games. Having only a limited idea on how to play well they also had a lot to test out. Varg went around making sure that everyone on the team was ready to go, they may be losers, but they would not be injured losers. Kristoffer and Bjørn talked about how to do their best, compared to the size of themselves to their opponents. Let alone the experience and the skill of the other teams too, hopefully they would not be injured, and could just walk away with a major loss.

Red Blackiland 3–0 Ferret Civilization

The game itself was fairly decisive, with the Red Backiland team completely dominating over them. Not that they really had a chance in the first place, and they already knew that they would end up in last place. At least their prediction was proving to be right.

"Well did you learn anything?" Varg asked as they settled down. Most of the team looked at each other, it was kind of hard to learn when everything moved so fast around them. "Ah, there's always next time... For at least a few more games. Just try not to get injured."

After that it was waiting for the next game, and seeing how badly they would lose that time. If they lost less badly that would at least show improvement. If not at least they helped the other team's get a better score to get them into the actual event.
