Background:
This will be the first Olympic Games for Caermine due to it their isolist nature. Recently the government gave their sporters a lot more freedom, as they were the ones to give their nation pride. Only five of the sporters at the Olympics have played internationally before and they are the only players with medal-chances tied to them. Especially Linda Sēlis is considered to be a national hero, she's one of the most populair sporters in Caermish history while only being 24 years old. This will also be the first time someone has the honour to bear the Caermish flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. This honour will go to Ludvig Vasiļjevs, the most populair male athlete of the country at this tournament.

Nation: Caermine (CAE)
Flag-Bearer: Ludvig Vasiļjevs, speed skating 10 000 m
National anthem: ''Nekad paklanījās, nekad sadalīti'' (Never bowed, never broken)

Hockey:
Ice Hockey is at an amateur level in Caermine, the sport itself excists for only twelve years with the Ludza Swans making the first team in 2004. At this moment there's a national competition consisting of four teams; Ludza Swans, Ludza Bulls, Meija Kazaks and Skrunda Frost. All of these teams both have a male and a female team. There are no expectations at all for Caermine to make something happen.
Image

Curling:
Curling is a sport only really played by the Kazak minority in Meija - Caermine's second largest city - and played at a relatively low level. Due to it being played by the ethnic minority, these teams will not be playing in Caermish carmine, but in Kazak's sky blue.

Lead: Andrei Ivanov
Second: Roman Antsiferov
Third: Alexei Savchenko
Skip: Dmitri Malgin

♀:
Lead: Elena Usanova
Second: Marina Lebedeva
Third: Darya Argokov
Skip: Alina Raikova

Due to a lack of international experience, Caermine will only field one referee.

The Holy FSM Empire

(OOC: sorry about my poor english)
National anthem: Kaisalili Marsi (Imperial march)
Flag bearer: Maximilian Meckler
Colours: All athletes wear some combination of red, black, white and yellow.

Jakob Seyfried Biathlon: Men’s 10 km Sprint, 12.5 km Pursuit, 15 km Mass Start, 20 km Individual, Mixed Relay 2×6 km+2×7.5 km

Image

25 years old Jakob Seyfried is the strongest medal candidate of FSM biathlonists. Seyfried, who is also sergerant of the Imperial Army is extremely strong in short distance events. He is especially fast skier, but his erratic performance in shooting can be a problem when fighting for the first places.

Wenzel Rosen Biathlon: Men’s 10 km Sprint, Men’s 12.5 km Pursuit, Men’s 15 km Mass Start, Men’s 20 km Individual, Mixed Relay 2×6 km+2×7.5 km

Image

Rosen is 29 years old professional biathlonist. He used to be the best FSM biathlonist, but Rosen is getting old and during the last years his performance has not been as good as before. His strongest event is 20 km. Rosen has some problems with National Secretary of Religious Purity (NSRP) because of his liberal opinions. FSM media is adviced not to interview him in live broadcasts.

Eckehard Oppert, Benjamin Schedl, Niclas Wagenseil & Torben Gehring Bobsleigh: Four man

Image

Bobsleigh is not very popular sport in the Holy FSM Empire: tracks are in poor condition and funding is insufficient. The strongest of bobsleigh teams is four man team Oppert, Schedl, Wagenseil, Gehring. These promising young athletes have got large government aid to fund their training and they are in fact the only medal candidate of FSM's numerous bobsleigh teams.

Roland Graf Speed skating: Men’s 500m, 1000m, Men’s Team Pursuit

Image

Department of Sports of NSRP maintains list of immoral sports. Speed skating was in this list until year 2007 (speed skaters have too tight-fitting outfit) In 2007 it was removed from list after long and complicated negotiations between NSRP and rich sportswear manufacturers. This is why speed skating is quite new sport in the Holy Empire and there are only few strong skaters in FSM delegation.

One of them is 22-years old Roland Graf, who is especially good in 500 m. His extremely rich family has sponsored his training and sport career, and his father, Gerhard Graf is one of the influential business executives who were fighting against prohibition of speed skating.

Figure skating still remains in the list of immoral sports and FSM has no participants in any figure skating events.

Vera Hillebrand Alpine skiing: Women’s Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super Combined

Image

Women's sports are not very popular in the Holy FSM Empire and some people even consider women participating in sports being immoral or inappropriate. This is why there are not very many talented FSM women participating in the Olympic games. One of the female medal candidates is 23-years old Vera Hillebrand. He is known to be devout member of the pastafarian church, and this is why he also gets lots of publicity in national media (and lots of incomes from sponsors).

Maximilian Meckler Cross country skiing: Men’s 15 km Freestyle, Men’s 30 km Skiathlon, Men’s 50 km Classical, Men’s 4×10 km Relay

Image

Maximilian Meckler, the idol and demigod of all FSM skiers is strong in both short and long distances, in classical and freestyle, in clear and poor weather.. In his own opinion, he is the only true athlete of FSM delegation and his goal is to get at least four medals, one in each of four events he is participating. Meckler has narcissistic personality disorder, but national propaganda media only loves his victories and huge self-confidence. Meckler is also flag-bearer of the whole FSM delegation.

Christian Schmadel, Patrik Lerner Ski jumping: Men’s Individual Normal Hill, Men’s Individual Large Hill, Men’s Team Large Hill

Image

Ski jumping is extremely popular in the Holy FSM empire, and FSM team has two excellent participants in all men's events. Schmadel (in the picture) and Lerner. Schmadel is older, 30-years old veteran athlete and he has probably seen his best days, but is still in excellent shape. Lerner, 21-years old, very promising young competitor will now fight with him for honor to be the number 1 of the very talented FSM ski jumping team.

Women's ski jumping is forbidden by the Department of Sports of NSRP, and FSM delegation does not include any female ski jumpers.

Ice hockey is one of the most popular winter sports in the Holy FSM Empire. National ice hockey league, Maistaliga has extremely skilled players, and most of players of national ice hockey team (also known as "the piranhas") come from Maistaliga. Biggest problem of this strong team is poor team play. Team is full of extremely skilled individuals, but they don't always support each other and play together.

Like all women's sports, women's ice hockey is not very popular in the Holy FSM Empire. However, there are lots of talented players and ministry of sports has given massive financial support to develop strong women's team. National team is full of young, promising players who have both individual skill and ability to effective team play. Biggest weakness is goalkeepers, and team has only found quite mediocre players to watch their goal.

Curling is not very popular sport in the holy FSM empire and it is only played in some northern parts of country. Women's team is not very talented, and it's members are young and quite inexperienced amateur players.

The Holy Empire of FSM had also men's team, but it's members are now under custody because of blasphemy and they will not compete in Olympic games.

BULGAR ROUGE WINTER OLYMPIC DELEGATION
Official roster assessment
Department of Sports and Recreation, People's Committee of Domestic Affairs
Appr. 81835a

This document has been drafted by the Department of Sports and Recreation of the PCDA to serve before
the General Directorate of the PCDA, the PCFA and relevant domestic and international bodies.
This is not an exhaustive document as it only represents selected athletes. Full roster submission
is responsibility of the Directorate on Foreign Movement of Individuals which handles the matter
in procedural terms. This document only serves as an assessment of selected athletes' capabilities
which can be taken into consideration by relevant authorities before and after the conclusion
of the XI W.O. The Department of Sports and Recreation urges caution when applying measures to
athletes who did not live up to expectations, as this report is not comprehensive.

========
Image
BOYANA DIMITROVA (left)
AGE: 20
DISCIPLINE: Short track 1500m
ORIGIN: C-57
PRELIM: Capable short-track athlete albeit inexperienced one. Holder of Republican
short-track record on 1000 and 1500 m, two international competitions so far
(Universiade and Leftist Agrarian Revolutionary Union Games). Shows much talent
but needs additional appearances in a non-domestic setting.

In addition, Party records are clean. Member of the Youth Agrarian Corps since
age 14. Family background has not presented counter-revolutionary tendencies.
Weak pre-Revolution parenthood simplified separation and communisation process.
Loyalty to the Party and system is undoubted. Appropriate flag-bearer.

CONCLUSION: Likely not to yield medals but very prospective. Maintain support.

========
Image
GABRIEL KATSAROV
AGE: 24
DISCIPLINE: Biathlon, 10 km sprint and 20 km individual; relay squad
ORIGIN: C-225
PRELIM: A talented athlete with good physical and marskman qualities.
He was among the first commune members to join the Republican biathlon base
as he displayed great intuition in firearms handling during his NPLA service, along
with robust skiing abilities.

While his pre-Revolution street background and somewhat troublesome separation from
the parental body (State Security Archival Reference #103855) during communisation
could have left an impact upon his mental condition, he does not seem to be losing
focus and keeps a steady mind in both sporting and Party activities.

CONCLUSION: Not a top-notch athlete, but very possible to medal and an excellent
supporting squad member during the relay. Maintain support.

========
Image
PANAYOT KIROV
AGE: 26
DISCIPLINE: Biathlon, 10 km sprint and 20 km individual; relay squad
ORIGIN: C-227
PRELIM: Leading athlete of the delegation. Perfect physical and mental condition.
Holder of three Republican records and participated in two rounds of LARU Winter
Games, two European championships and two World championships, medalling in
five of them (including a silver the World championship).

Kirov shows remarkable physical endurance. He is a proven and skilled marksman
and displayed excellent shooting skills during his conscription service in the NPLA.
Party loyalty is beyond question as he lost both of his parents under the previous
regime and has been raised under the Socialist system with full consciousness.

CONCLUSION: Very likely to earn a medal. However, maintain support if this does
not happen.

========
Image
DANIELA MARINOVA
AGE: 18
DISCIPLINE: Biathlon 12.5 km mass start; relay squad
ORIGIN: C-225
PRELIM: Primary choice for supporting roles in relay squad. Completely inexperienced -
2nd LARU Games are her only international appearance - but shows great promise.
Consistently medals in Republican championships. Failed to break Republican record
in Women's 10 sprint by 0.2 seconds. Occasional underperformance primarily due to
psychological and not physical factors.

She has also shown diligence in her sporting works and seems devoted, although sometimes
casual and even negligent in execution, in her Party activities. This inclines the assessors to
believe that she has not accepted her separation from the parental body during communisation.
The assessment is corroborated by existing evidence (State Security Archive Reference #894116)
which describes her as "unusually passive" during the separation process.

CONCLUSION: Possible medal and anticipated above-average performance. Crucial for relay
team. Exert caution - possible defection unit. Increase support with preventative purpose.

========
Image
KARINA SEMERDZHIEVA
AGE: 22
DISCIPLINE: Biathlon 12.5 km mass start; relay squad
ORIGIN: C-227
PRELIM: Female squad leader with excellent physical and marskman skills. Graduated
NPLA Military Academy with a degree in Alpine Warfare after NPLA service. Holds the
Republican record for quickest biathloon shooting round (5 targets in 7.9 seconds) and
consistently finishes with a clean target record. Top-notch physical skills, although
mostly acquired - she is naturally prone to injury. Medals from four LARU Games,
one Universiade, two European and two World championships.

Party record is mixed. Disturbance during separation from the parental body has been
observed (State Security Archive Reference #199531) and she is most certainly not
fully agreeable with Revolutionary policies. However, she has been obsessively perseverant
in her military and Party duties. Assessors believe this to be a manifestation of
acceptance of the system's inevitability, but in a negative shade. Prone to individualism.

CONCLUSION: Flagship female biathlete, likely to medal. Will continue to walk a fine
line between disobedience and political discipline. Maintain support, but do not allow
obvious disagreement or demonstrations of dissent.

========
Image
MARIN KYUCHUKOV
AGE: 28
DISCIPLINE: Luge
ORIGIN: C-360
PRELIM: Perfect physical and mental conditioning. Best luger in the history of the state,
displaying remarkable intuition on turns and flawless handling of the luge. Kyuchukov is
well-known to the Department of Sports & Recreation as he is not only a practicing
luger but also a trainer at the National Academy for Luge & Bobsleigh. Rich file on
Republican records and international competitions. Owns a total of 11 medals (including
three gold) from international competitions and a variety of other trophies.

Party record is generally clean. While he has caused some minor disturbances and breaches
of communal regulations, they have mostly been benign and did not interfere with
economic activities. They have also increased his popularity among fellow Commune 360
members, as he often displays a sense of humour and originality. In spite of his lax attitude,
he has shown great devotion to Party activities and has been instrumental in setting up the
luge and bobsleigh schools of the Democratic Republic.

CONCLUSION: Very likely to medal. Maintain support with good recommendations.

Police Officer CN1838AHS is a hockey official who might work both men's and women's games. He is willing to issue unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and even ejections for even the slightest violation, especially against countries he doesn't like. This is very much like he work as a police officer, where any minor offense will earn you arrest and possible execution.

Teams from Saintland, Costa Luna, Free Republics and San Jose Guayabal should be especially forewarned about biased officiating. However, even looking at him the wrong way or laughing might earn you a game misconduct if this guy is officiating.

Clockmaker RD2DA91W is one of the official timekeepers for the tournament. He is a certified timekeeper in speed skating, bobsled, luge, skeleton, and short track, though he will only be working a few events across those sports during the tournament. It is his responsibility to make sure all the timekeeping equipment works right before the event starts, and if it does not, to repair it. He is very good at what he does, and does not tamper with the equipment to give any team or player an unfair advantage.

Male Dancer 9DBBFBBB is a figure skating judge in the ice dancing competition who competed in the ice dancing at the VIII Olympic Winter Games. He judges fairly and accurately. He will not cheat.

The various ministries, departments and organizations that represent athletics, sport and culture around the region of Astyria decided that it would be in the best interests of all involved Astyrian nations to band together and put forth a unified delegation in their first venture into the Winter Olympics. In some cases, even nations that were recently in dispute with each other have deigned to put aside their differences in order to represent the greater ideal of sport and the cultural exchange that comes through friendly International competition. While bringing some national pride, these athletes ultimately stand as one under the purple and gold flag of Astyria. A new dawn has broken as Astyria looks to the future and casts aside old political divides to advance the region as a whole in the International arena, and come together simply as human brothers and sisters.

THE BENEVOLENT DICTATORSHIP OF FALKASIA

Falkasia is a predominately Nordic and sub-Nordic nation, containing within it a diverse variety of peoples, landscapes, and climates. The majesty of this land extends from the frozen wastes of the northern Falkasian Gulf, down through the central grassy steppes and forests of the Falkasian heartland, and into the craggy scrubland of the Border Region with neighboring Gragastavia. While prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Falkasia was frequently represented by many accomplished athletes as part of a combined Russian/Falkasian delegation, no athletes from an independent Falkasia have yet been sent to compete for international fame and glory. In combination with its neighbors and friends within the region of Astyria, the opportunity is nigh to break this trend, and set precedent for future generations that the Falkasian spirit cannot, and will not, ever be dominated.
Bobsleigh

Yule Skoog (26)

Full-time commercial fisherman with the Falkasian Crab fleet in the Falkasian Gulf, Skoog has always been an active member in the Falkasian bobsled circuit since he was a child. Skoog hails from the icy island village of Reynir, located just a few degrees below the Arctic Circle. His father is Falkasian, but his mother is Yellosian (Yellow Star Republic), from just over the northern border.
He spent much of his childhood with friends sledding on the various static icebergs surrounding the island. As with any self-respecting Falkasian, Yule cut his teeth playing organized youth hockey throughout the northern-most province of Volskaya. Despite being an accomplished skater and offense-man, he found that ice hockey lacked the adrenaline rush free-form sledding had given him as a child. A self-described "speed freak," Skoog is the Pilot for both the Falkasian Two-Man and Four-Man bobsled teams. In recent years, especially with the announcement that Falkasia would again send a delegation to the Winter Olympics, he has taken time off from work and focused on training. Ironically, his team has no formal facility to conduct practice runs. Instead, they ride the same icebergs he grew up with as a child.

Karl Svensson (25)

Son of a baker, Svensson was born in the central Falkasian town of Vilzen; population 257 plus several dogs. As a child, he tended to avoid organized sports and instead preferred to explore the rolling hills and valleys surrounding his home with his childhood companion, a fluffy collie named Sasha. Karl's disinterest didn't matter much however, as the city of Vilzen was only able to afford a small ice rink, and only during the winter. Svensson's adventures fostered within the young man a strong sense of independence and determination, which ultimately led him to school to study business. While studying at University of Ekaterine, he was approached by a member of the Falkasian Olympic Committee, Dimitri Romanov, who ultimately recruited the begrudging, headstrong young man as their Two Four-man Sled Brakeman. Presently, when he is not training with his two and four-man bobsled teams, Svensson runs a small chain of Falkasian pastry shops, know as Pryanikis, throughout Vilzen and the surrounding hamlets.

Dimitri "Rossiya" Romanov (57)

Known as "Old Man" by his enemies and "Rossiya" by his friends and teammates, Dimitri is the oldest member and contingent captain for Team Falkasia. He is also the oldest ever athlete sent by Falkasia to attend an Olympic Games. However, don't let age fool you. Every one of his 57 years is backed up by twice as many in experience. In fact, Dimitri has participated in several Olympics previously as a Falkasian appointee to the Russian Delegation. He was slated to take part in the Four-Man Bobsleigh during the 1980 Games in Lake Placid, but was prohibited from doing so due to political problems back home in Falkasia. Outside of this, Romanov is directly responsible for re-establishing the Falkasian Olympic Committee and putting together delegations for competition overseas. Officially, Dimitri is retired and lives in a modest town-home on Ulansky Street with his wife, within sight of the Tretiak Arena. Unofficially, he works as the FOC Chairman. In his own words; "This is my dream job."

Jan Holtgren (19)

Young and ambitious, Jan strives to be the best. "Strives," however, is likely an inappropriate word choice. Brash and unrestrained, likely on account of his age, Holtgren did not start out as a Bobsledder. Rather, as a child he played competitive ice hockey for the Crab Kings, a youth professional sports club based out of Volsk. The circuit took him throughout Falkasia, as well as neighboring Gragastavia and briefly into the Yellow Star Republic. Despite what he may say, Holtgren was a C player at best, and was often resigned to the grinder/enforcer role on the Fourth Line. As he said it, being at the bottom meant "he could see his path straight to the top." However, the ladder fell out from under him following an off-ice altercation with members of an opposing team, alongside two on-ice officials who attempted to intervene. He was promptly sanctioned by the Falkasian Youth Hockey Association, and after a similar altercation with several of his own teammates a week later, was permanently suspended from the league. Almost as if by chance, he was approached by a Falkasian Olympic Committee official who was able to offer the youngster a fresh-start. As the team quickly learned, his enormous size, youth, and hockey conditioning allow him to accelerate his sled as a Pusher at breakneck speeds. Outside of the sport, Holtgren does odd jobs to support himself. He aspires to become a Falkasian Marine Raider some day, but acknowledges that neither "[his] academic performance [nor] attitude would allow him to do well."

Truen Gunnarsson (25)

A true trendsetter, 6'6" Truen (Troon) was the first woman to pilot a bobsled to victory in Falkasia. Rather, she was the first woman to enter herself as a competitor in a Men's Bobsledding League and win. Her victory opened up the path for other women, much like herself, to form their own parallel organization for female bobsledding within the country. Born in Provno, a suburb outside of Ekaterine, her first sport was actually basketball. Given her height, this was a natural choice, despite the fact there are virtual no basketball courts anywhere in Falkasia. It presented a problem, and when she and her parents were forced to move north to Volsk, she abandoned her pursuit for other options. Bobsledding, ironically, was not a sport she actively pursued as she grew into adulthood. Her first foray was as a substitute Pilot for a men's Four-man Team, after which she became hooked. While attending technical school in Volsk, she and her friends formed the city's first female-only bobsled team and were frequently seen rocketing through downtown streets against rival teams during winter. Currently, her team trains in combination with the men's team on Reynir Island, but more recently she has been attempting to petition the local government for funds to construct a track in-town. In her off-season, Truen is a registered EMT and frequently works to support helicopter evacuations over the Falkasian Gulf.

Johanna Dahlin (23)

Like Svensson, Dahlin is also a member of the 257 individuals who call Vilzen home. She and Karl were distant friends as children, not so much because they had common interests, but rather because there were so few children around. As such, both share a variety of similar experiences that has created a very strong bond between both of them. Despite only being two-years younger, Johanna tends to regard Karl as her older brother and the two can be frequently seen teasing each other about their relative love interests. She is a fully educated and accredited Mining Engineer, the result of an extensive six-year education at the technical university in Volsk. During her time there, she was approached by her dormitory mate Truen and persuaded to join their team as the Brakewoman.

Selja Heino (25)

Unlike her teammates, Selja grew up with bobsledding as her family's past-time. Her father, a native of the city of Atley in the Falkasian ice fjords, participated in a variety of winter sports in his free time. While ice hockey and skiing were among his favorites, there was always a special place in the man's heart for his small, ramshackle two-man sled. Selja, once she was of age, would frequently go out with her father on some of his less exhilarating runs. From him, she learned every skill a sledder would require in to become competitive. By the time she was a teenager, her and her three sisters had built their own ramshackle four-man sled and were competing against other local children for the title of "King of the Mountain." Many of the tracks she and her friends built over the years have since been framed and turned into actual runs, although the facilities to maintain them have yet to be constructed. Grown up now, she still resides in Atley alongside much of her family and trains sled dogs for a living.

Leyla and Yildirim Sezen (20)

Leyla and her brother Yildirim are fraternal twins, born and raised in the chaotic and oftentimes dangerous city of Stana in the southern border region of Falkasia. Their parents, a Gragastavian father and Falkasian mother, were both career military officers serving as the region's security liaison between their respective governments. Given the city's notorious reputation for being a center of terrorist and separatist activity, the Sezen parents decided that it might be better to raise their children in a safer environment. Both of the Sezen twins might have spent much of their childhood growing up in one of the wealthier districts of the Gragastavian capitol of Al Duhaba, but instead a GLO suicide bomb attack killed their father shortly after the decision was made. A week later, their mother requested re-assignment, and the family was spirited away to Ekaterine. Devastated by the death of their father, both Sezen children channeled their grief into release outlets. Aside from being an accomplished painter and singer, Leyla quickly became enamored with the sport of bobsledding after a one-time boyfriend introduced her to the sport. Ironically, Leyla regards fellow teammate Truen Gunnarsson as her idol, having watched her compete in the early days of the sport in Falkasia. It was this same idol who would eventually recruit Leyla to the team.
Unlike his sister, Yildirim had a more difficult time coping with the death of his father. While neither of them frequently saw eye-to-eye, his father was the primary driving force behind his passion. Stana, being a craggy landscape of scrubland, washes, and jagged cliffs, rarely ever got snow. Yet, his father was a strong supporter of his early interests in ice hockey and would actively dodge duty to watch his son play. Unable to separate the thought of his father with the game of hockey, Yildirim quit playing and has yet to step onto a hockey rink since. Instead, he poured his efforts into school and hoped to one day become an accomplished lawyer. Instead, his twin sister dragged him into the sport of bobsledding. At least initially, Yildirim thought of it as a soft sport with hardly any skill involved. Skeleton, a parallel sport often broadcast in accompaniment of bobsledding, captured his attention and held on. When interviewed about this defining moment, he replied, "I like the intensity. It's just you and the sled and nothing else. The purity of it all calls to me. Reminds me if how I felt before my father died." Unlike his sister and the bobsled teams, Yildirim actually trains overseas in Neu Engollon, where he studies International Law at Burgunden University.

Liljan Mogen (34)

An accomplished skier and sledder, Liljan is the very definition of a backwoods outdoorswoman. Born in the mountainous region of Ikovskaya, her family lived in a homestead with three of her uncles, aunts, and their families. There was no running water, and many of the houses had dirt floors on their lowest levels. Her father was a lumberjack and game hunter, but outside of the occasional elk or deer he brought home, all of his earnings went to pay for family expenses and his own drinking problem. Despite his addiction, Liljan's father was as supportive as he could be of his only child, and encouraged her to come out hunting with him once she came of age. In a bit of homestead ingenuity, he would have her sled between the trees and stir out any critters into the open. Surprisingly, this strategy didn't work at all, but it left a lasting impression on the young girl.
As she grew, the sled was abandoned as she and her father would trek out together on hunting trips, for which her father made sure to pass her some spending money. Lacking a formal education, she poured her funds into books and taught herself a hodge-podge of subjects ranging from literature to mathematics. Sledding however, had returned to the forefront of her life. The nearest town, an Army installation known as Camp Ikov, began offering competitions for local sledders to compete. The soldiers there, having little to do during the winter months outside of watching TV and eating food, offered cash prizes. It took very little time before they came to regret their decision, as Liljan quickly bankrupted most of the camp's population. Due to this, and despite her homestead's remoteness, Liljan is fairly well-known and respected by the region's community as a whole. This was partly the reason why she was approached by the Falkasian Olympic Committee, hoping that by having her compete would draw popular support for the fledgling organization. However, as Chairman Romanov mentioned to a reporter, her fame was considerably less important than her exceptional skill at skiing and shooting. "She's just that good," he said, "You can quote me on that too." Currently, Liljan is engaged doing the same trades she's done her whole life; hunting and wrecking financial ruin on bored soldiers.

Valerian Larashenko (41)

A literal translation of the "Most Interesting Man in the World," Valerian has pretty much seen and done it all. Born in Al Duhaba to Falkasian parents, he was a curious youngster who frequently got himself into trouble. So much so, that the local FSIS bureau used to rig him with a tiny listening device to counter-act insurgency movements. Nothing is really ever off-limits, especially in Gragastavia. As a child, his parents traveled the world as official sanctioned diplomats of Falkasia. Over the course of his life, he resided in over 30 countries. As a result, Valerian speaks 9 different languages. It was during his late teens, while his parents were posted to the Falkasian Embassy in Salzland, that he discovered skiing.
He had in the past dabbled in a variety of traditional and local sports, but the nature of his parents' work meant that he could never stay around long enough to fully enjoy them. Illegal drugs were also proving an issue for the young man, so when his parents saw his interest, the quickly jumped on the opportunity and forced him in. While hardly a natural, the more he practiced the more he realized he loved skiing. "It's a sense of control I never had as a kid," he would later reflect to a reporter, "You're in charge of where you go. So long as there's snow, where ever you go is the right place to be." He served briefly in the Falkasian Navy as a gunboat captain in the Falkasian Gulf, where he had several run-ins with smugglers. The ships he commanded, three in total, were all sunk at one time or another with him on board.
Three times each he was fished from the frozen water, ready to jump aboard the next boat to finish what he started. He has stared in a variety of local commercials, held political office as mayor of an Ekaterine suburb, built a successful international alcohol distribution company, and even went undercover as part of an FSIS and Precinct 19 sting operation on a cell of Cardwithian drug kingpins. Currently, his job is skiing. He has devoted himself full-time to practicing his sport in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games, for which he also has a minority investment stake in, and travels the world on his own money to ski the greatest mountains known to mankind.

More nations and info to be added. Thanks for your patience.

THE NATIONAL DELEGATION FOR THE XI OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES

Rosters, Jerseys etc are to be updated until the beginning of the Games, so you might wanna check again before writing an RP.

FLAG CARRIER

The Ficiscian flag will be carried by 25 year old alpine skier Elena Vallira, multiple Ficiscian champion in downhill and super-G and a favourite in these disciplines. She comes from Montes Superiores and will compete in the women's Downhill, Super-G and Super Combined. The flag carrier in the closing ceremony will be decided during the games and be an athlete that deserves special merits for his performance.

C #75 Paulus MARCIUS (22, SH Laconiae)
RW #41 Marcellus SIMONI (23, Limites Nordiques)

Special Teams:
The powerplay is played in the Umbrella formation. In PK, our formation depends on the opponent but we generally attack pretty aggressively and try to get the puck and, if possible, launch counter attacks. Teams are:

PP1: Minor (blue line) - Marcantor, Thorvaldssenn (snipers) - Praesumptus, Vero (forwards)
PP2: Berjaman (BL) - Aleixos, Brica (SN) - Larins, Vaccarius (FW)

PK1: Neri, Fulvius, Praesumptus, Brica
PK2: Arrius, Minor, Vero, Marcantor (Vero plays center here)

Tactics and playstyle
Ficiscia plays offensive with fast passing and a heavy accent on skating skills. The Ficiscian play is fast and offensive, like a mix of the Swiss NLA and the old USSR national team. Weaknesses of the Ficiscian hockey are traditionally fighting for the puck in front of the goal. You won't see many of those "NHL rebound goals" from us. In Ficiscia, international standard 30m wide rinks are used. Most of our players are fast and defensemen typically have a strong shot and decent puck handling skills, while not being as physical as players from elsewhere and often a bit shorter and lighter. If you want to pick a fight, we don't have goons or enforcers but Fulvius, Pecurii and Larins, plus to some extent Andrini, are good candidates if you touch our goaltenders or stars (or them, obvi). Generally we have a culture of collective defense and the 1on1 brawls like in North America rarely happen in Ficiscia, usually you'll have three or four players pushing and shoving but not much boxing if you attack one of us.

Prolieum has never before competed in the Winter Olympics, and the nation’s generally temperate climes make its citizens rather ill-suited for it. Still, the nation has a strong athletic culture, and has many athletes qualified for the Olympics, though few are expected to do well. The exception to this are the female biathletes. The alpine region of Yurise, separate from Prolieum until its conquest and assimilation, has a unique, female-dominated culture, and is the coldest place on Prolieum. Warfare was ritualistic, female-only, and based around ski maneuvers and marksmanship, leading to a world-class crop of biathletes from that area available, and now competing.

None of the nation's team sports groups qualified for the Olympics, with the only exception being Men's bobsleigh, and, of course, the Biathalon relay teams.

Notes

The players on this team previously competed at the Games of the VIII Olympiad as the Feministvs Sanctvsterra Field Hockey Team. There, they won 2 matches and drew another in the group stage and defeated Darmen in the Round of 16 before falling to Valanora in the Quarterfinals. They participated at the 26th World Cup of Hockey and went 1-3-2 in the group stage, finishing 4th in their group. At WCoH 27, they went 4-1-1 in the group stage, playing under their real names for the first time. They advanced to the Round of 16 and were knocked out by Zenic.

Now that the group has been legalized in Saintland and established themselves as a political party, they use their real names and are able to compete on home ice officially representing the Kingdom of Saintland.

Kriegiersien Olympic Teams (KGS)

Flagbearer: Briza Icemop
Colors and Uniforms (Jerseys): A warm black

Nearly all athletes of the Kriegiersien team are Zombiebots, especially build to compete in their form of sport. Despite all hard work from scientists in programming, cybernetics, meteorology, dark magic and bioengineering, nearly all models are equally average, with a difficulty setting of 50 (from 100).

But there are exceptions.

The Kriegiersien (Ice) Hockey Teams.
Both the man and woman teams consists of (living) Bigtopians. These people can be find in many Nations and a diaspora in Kriegiersien made their own Club "Bigtopia Schoenwetter" which makes up a large part of the Olympic Hockey Squad. The Kriegiersien National Team also brought players from other Nations in who are Bigtopians or have Bigtopian roots and got a second Kriegiersien citizenship. Although these players are on a high skill level, the team now lacks teamplay or a common language as they are from different Nations and havent seen each other much before the games. Mostly the coaches try a mix of Kriegiersien, hand signs and English to communicate.

The female Curling team won silver at the (OOC: not last Olympics as written first) IX Olympics. After long and hard qualification games and a long and hard discussion it was decided to bring the old team together and send them instead of the qualified team and Kriegiersien champion. That was not really well accepted by the competing teams of the qualification rounds.
The mens team is the actual Kriegiersien champion but not really as competitive as the womans team.

Skip: Mirya Bratwurst
Vice: Rhonwen Loewenzahn

Lead: Briza Icemop
Second: Andrea Egyptulan
Third: Rhonwen Loewenzahn
Fourth: Mirya Bratwurst

The Bandy team exists out of the players who won the last Bandy World Championship (Championnat du monde de bandy).

The team was a wild mix of Athletes sponsored by Radio Talkback who traveled on their behalf to Cotdelapoms and won the title. With significant effort the team could be reunited for a great dream:
Winning the Olympics in this demonstration event.

The Holy Monastic Republic of The Archregimancy

ARC

National anthem: The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom

Important: the team traditionally insists on having the 2 hour-long anthem played in full when a gold medal is won

Flag-bearer: Fr. Stijepo (curling; part of the gold-medal winning curling team in the IX Winter Olympics)

Team media spokesman: Fr. Vasily the Heavily Accented

Fr. Vasily's catch phrase is "is outrage!", which he'll deploy at the slightest provocation. Fr. Vasily gets particularly upset when a monastic athlete does well (curling excepted), or when the national anthem isn't played in full. The actual Monastic Olympic Committee has a slightly ambiguous relationship towards him, not always approving of his outrage - but he's inexplicably popular with some delegations, and a cult figure in some nations.

Archregimancy athletes always compete wearing monastic robes.

The Archregimancy excels at winter sports that require getting from point A to point B over long distances - a byproduct of the harsh winter climate preferred by many of the Slavic-tradition monasteries. This is why the team's two best events are traditionally the 10k speedskating and the 50k classical cross-country event (and team pursuit).

However, curling is also hugely popular as the sport is considered wholly compatible with the Orthodox monastic ideal of sacred quietude achieved with self-contemplation and ascetic effort within a shared cloistered environment. In the Archregimancy, curling is a living icon of prayer.

Most of the team is self-explanatory, but one important note:

Curling:

Curling sees the return of the IX Winter Olympics gold medal-winning squad - who crushed Valanora 8-2 in the gold medal match two Olympics ago (the Monastic Republic missed the X Winter games). This is a rare case of an event the Monastic Olympic Committee actually hopes to win, and where victory will not be seen as an outrageous breach of monastic humility.

The curling team is nicknamed the 'Broom-Wielding Wonderworkers', and consists of:

Fr. Stephen, Fr. Ștefan, Fr. Stepan, Fr. Stijepo

San Llera Olympic Rosters

Coach: Martini Corval

Line #1
Forward (Center) - Alafair Wickerson - A naturalized overseas player with plenty of brains but not much brawn
Forward (Right Wing) - Guamo - Incredibly fast skater but lacks in other areas
Forward (Left Wing) - Ricard Millet - All-around, the best player on the team, excels in pretty much every area
Defense (Left) - Macedoni Noell - An aspiring thug
Defense (Right) - Marco Sicilia - Very talented but sometimes makes youthful mistakes, also somewhat thuggish

Line #2
C - Mantequilla - The player named after the word for "butter" (???) is like Serrato from Line #3 in that he is great at shielding the goalie, only not as large at 6'3", 230 lbs. But age is on his side.
RW - Adam Maura - Lacks skills or much athleticism but is hardest worker on the team
LW - Josep Maria Pruneda - Focuses a lot on defense for a forward
LD - Raul Perrita - Dirty, and known for his trash talking
RD - Octavio Barbera - Sometimes strays too far offensively

Line #3
C - Tomas Serrato - At 6'7", 270 pounds, he is likely the largest player the the tournament is therefore excellent at screening the goalie
RW - Artur Maura - Twin of Adam, has similar traits
LW - Oscar Artiga - Somewhat of a "puckhog"
LD - Dionis Almuerzo - Best offensive defenseman on the team
RD - Joan Benet-Mayol - Does nothing significant, which can be good for a defenseman

Line #4
C - Ignasi Mato - Excellent slap shot, which is the main only reason he's on the team
RW - Goncal Marines - Incredibly dirty player, spends most of his time in the penalty box. Incredibly durable for his age
LW - Xavier Gotay - Another of San Llera's incredibly dirty players
LD - Antonio Maratato - Energetic young player who is everywhere but never does much when he's there
RD - Lluis Mascaro - Rounds out one of the dirtiest lines in this tournament

Goalkeepers
Aaron Viola - The starting goalie, he is good but not great in all tangible measures of a goalkeeper
Prosper Virella - Would be an excellent goalie if he wasn't cursed with a 5'8", 170-pound frame
Quinne - Good but too conservative for his own good

Coach: Isadora Benten

Line #1
C - Olivia Messerus
RW - Bonita Paix
LW - Luisa Millet
LD - Amaranta Cata
RD - Graciela Vinyals

Line #2
C - Sofia Exemeno

Line #4

ETHANIAN DELEGATION TO THE XI WINTER OLYMPICS

Introduction

After a surprisingly successful Summer Olympics, in which Ethane managed to obtain 8 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 14 bronze medals, the national Ethanian Olympic Delegation has decided to once again enter a large delegation into the Olympics, in the hopes of retaining their former glory of the Summer Olympics, in Winter. While the different style of Olympics does need a rather different mindset and technique to the Summer, the nation will be rooting for them all the same, in a passionate display, which will be leading on hopes if a great success at these Olympics as well.

Great sporting heroes have inspired the nation, throughout the many different sporting tournaments that the nation has participated in. Great successes in competitions such as the IBS X, the World Cup, and the Summer Olympics has created a wave of sporting fever around the nation, with people getting excited about all sporting events happening around the globe, including the recent invitation to the Cup of Harmony, which has excited many people in the nation, who believe it is now Ethane's time to shine in sports. After breaking the top 100 ranks in football, sporting fever has dramatically increased, and has led to the creation of the new Ethanian league, which is currently in the process of being reformed. The successes in other sporting events has created a craze for the Olympics, boosting the economy from merchandise sales, lifting the nation out of a potential recession, which was avoided due to consumption spending. This has led to the many people at home, and people in charge of this delegation, to have high expectations for this cohort of athletes, which therefore means that they are going to have to impress to be able to return home to a hero's fanfare.
