Welcome to Associated Godlands, where the 23rd World Lacrosse Championships is currently taking place. This is the everything thread, where you will post all of your rosters and RP's. We here at Associated Godlands are very excited to host you, and expose you to the truest form of life - the worship of God and the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

A quick summary of our nation, as stated in the bid:

The Theocracy of Associated Godlands is a beautiful paradise, located in Rushmore. It is ruled by its king, God, and His sapient mouthpiece, Queen Shirley Phelps-Roper. The devout nation boasts a beautiful landscape, full of rolling, grassy plains and magnificent sand dunes. The geography of the nation is, in fact, so beautiful that it cannot be put to words, as God Himself carefully constructed everything in this nation to perfection. And, for the more cosmopolitan folk, Associated Godlands has its share of modern yet timeless cities. God City, the capital, is the best of these, and despite the fact that it is too holy for anyone to enter, it's pretty great. There are also cities that can be entered, such as Phelps, Repenta, Christville, New Centra, Old Centra, and many more. All are full of welcoming people (as long as you're Christian). And, finally, we get to the best part about Associated Godlands - the religion! Associated Godlands is a devout, Christian Eden, where Christians and fundamental Christians alike thrive, while sinners are put to death as necessary. We here at Associated Godlands re very excited to show off our religion to the world, so we are doing something completely unprecedented. For the first time ever, foreigners (with some exceptions) will be granted free passage to our country, regardless of religion! And, if they inevitably convert to Christianity during their time here, they can leave too! We understand that it is necessary to expose some godless heathens to Christianity, as the only reason they are godless heathens could simply be that they were brainwashed in childhood and never exposed to new ideas. So visiting fans will be granted free passage, one (1) Get Out of Execution Free card, and free church membership. We so look forward to hosting you.

If you are familiar with sports RPing, this will look very familiar to you. But if you aren't here's the skinny: This is an RP permissions box. Nations will post these boxes along with their roster. Basically, the RP permissions box dictates what an opponent can or can't do when RPing your game. If you select "no" for, say, choosing goal scorers, this means that your opponent may not choose who scored your goals without asking your permission.

The term "god mod" means to do something unrealistic, or, in the case of a suspension, often to decide the length of the suspension. "Godmodding" a scoring event would be something unlikely, like a ball being caught in an eagle's mouth and flown into the goal. Meanwhile, godmodding other events could mean basically anything.

Travel Guide

Should you be traveling to Associated Godlands, here are some tips,and information:
-You don't have to be Christian to enter Associated Godlands if you are a fan, but it is recommended.
-There is only one airport in Associated Godlands, Associated Godlands National Airport, and it is located very conveniently close to the national stadium, where the final will be played. You must either take trains or ride horses to other stadiums. Luckily, trains will be running 24/7 to accommodate for fans, and horses will be made freely available in major public centers.
-The following things are banned in Associated Godlands: Homosexuality, adultery, lying about virginity, prostitution, being raped, bestiality, incest, polygamy, drinking blood, eating anything that mixes dairy and meat, sacrificing anything with yeast and honey, eating fat, eating pork, waiting too long before consuming sacrifices, eating bread with yeast during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, eating aquatic creature that lack fins or scales, eating meat not killed in the Kosher way, eating peace offerings while being ritually unclean, not being circumcised, trying to convert people to a religion besides Christianity, worshiping idols, practicing magic, blasphemy, breaking the Sabbath, consulting a psychic, being a psychic, going near the tabernacle while it is being moved if you are not a priest, being a false prophet, working on the Sabbath, going to temple while unclean, sacrificing animals while not at a temple, manufacturing anointing oil, planting more than one kind of seed in a field, wearing clothing woven of more than one kind of cloth, cutting your hair, touching a dead pig, dressing as the other sex, being a disobedient slave, and speaking in church if you are a woman. These are in addition to traditional crimes such as theft, rape, murder, etc. Punishment is usually death by stoning, but occasionally other execution methods. Fans traveling to Associated Godlands get one (1) Get Out of Execution Free Card, while players will be extradited immediately upon arrest should they commit a crime.

Ferret Civilization Ferrets

Ferrets have always been isolationists, but due to the continuing events there is more of an urge to get out into the outside world(s) in any way possible. One way just happened to be sports, this would continue the fact that ferrets continue to try and participate in sports event outside The Colony. Sports, like lacrosse, are not big things but are well known for commercial gains and leisure activity. With this being the baseball team's first major event, there is a general excitement, and no matter what happens everyone looks forward to the future events and games.

Experience - This is Cosumar's 16th WLC. We debuted in WLC 8 and have since built a reputation as one of the premier lacrosse nations in multiverse, due to our strong domestic league (the CLL) and five WLC medals. Cosumar won back-to-back WLC titles in the 20th and 21st editions but crashed out early in WLC 22 last time around. Currently ranked 1st, nevertheless. Cosumar has also hosted the tournament in the past. Lacrosse was an obscure sport in Cosumar 30 years ago, but in the time since has risen rapidly to become the fourth most popular spectator sport here behind only soccer, gridiron football and basketball.

Cosumar's uniform feautres an aesthetic design provided by Barrengaka Kits of Astograth and makes heavy use of the national colors of Blue and Silver. The goalie's kit feautres the colors of the Royal Family of Cosumar - Green and Gold. A silhouette of the iconic Cosumarite Azure Dragon takes the center of the uniform, reminding spectators of the natural beauty and magnificence of Cosumar while also striking fear into the hearts of the opposing team.

Associated Godlands Roster, World Lacrosse Championships 23

Background
Associated Godlands has never been a lacrosse power; they don't even have a rank. However, the sport has recently been growing in the theocracy, with more and more people playing. That is part of the reason why Associated Godlands chose to bid on a lacrosse tournament. For the roster, the coach is Shirley Phelps-Roper, who is also the Queen of Associated Godlands. Normally, she doesn't have time to coach lacrosse amid her duties as Queen and soccer coach, and she leaves it up to her assistant, who happens to be one of her eleven children. But now, in such a special event, she will coach the team. In terms of the players, the best is, of course, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who scores most of the goals for the team, is the best defender, the best leader, and so on. A few of the other players are good, too, Christian Christian comes to mind. And several of Shirley Phelps-Roper's children play on the team, and they live up to their great name.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's fourth time participating in the World Lacrosse Championship. For reasons that can be simply summed up as "it's the best thing we've done in a while," the Democratic Republic is sending forth their women's national lacrosse team once again. The women's team, led by the "Fearsome Threesome" of Menan Alrisheb, Fatima Alsambis, and Cecilia Cuvimi, managed to win third place in their first ever tournament WLC XIX, beating the Serbian Empire to nab the bronze from under the veteran nation's noses. This women's team is different from the other women's lacrosse teams, because they are trained in men's lacrosse rules, the reasons why will be explained in the history spoiler below.

The history of lacrosse in Abanhfleft is both long and short, in that it has been in the country for a long time, but a concise summary of said history can be written down in just ten to fifteen sentences or maybe more. Lacross was introduced in Abanhfleft by vacationing Canadian college students and expatriates who missed playing the game. The first truly Fleftic lacrosse players came from association football and field hockey backgrounds, and these players played in seasonal lacrosse clubs to augment their salaries during their respective sports' offseasons. The first national lacrosse league in Abanhfleft was established in 1929, and was composed of 7 teams coming from the Capital Islands. The Fleftic national lacrosse league system adopted its current promotion-and-relegation format in 1951, with the National League (now called the Lacrosse Premier League) at the top of the pyramid. The Fleftic Lacrosse Federation (Flefteikor' Fidourhat'she ob Lakros or FFoL) was established in 1930 to manage the leagues, and to see to the creation of a national team. The Abanhfleft men's national lacrosse team played its first game in 1931, where they lost 1-0 to a team of Montreal college players.

1963 saw the first attempts to introduce women's lacrosse into Abanhfleft. Women's lacrosse had vastly different rules from men's lacrosse, and while these programs saw some success in the mid-sixties, Fleftic women decided that the rules of women's lacrosse were "too soft," and simply adopted the rules of men's lacrosse. When the women's national lacrosse team played its first games in 1969, they surprised many other teams with their extremely aggressive style of play, the likes of which were more usually seen in men's lacrosse games. This led to many incidents of broken legs, broken arms, broken ribs, broken jaws, and so on and so forth. Eventually the FFoL established another women's team, this one focusing on women's lacrosse rules. Teams playing Abanhfleft are well-advised to treat the women like men, because the girls will certainly treat their opponents like Fleftic men.

Head Coach: Luzviminda Lozima (68)
Lozima is the first ever head coach of the Abanhfleft women's national lacrosse team, a position which has been ironically dominated by men. A noted lacrosse player herself, Lozima definitely knows how the players think on the field and off it. This gives her an edge over many former managers, who were men and therefore had no experience playing women's style lacrosse. The players also have a deep respect of Lozima because of her fame and role in the old silverware-winning national side of old.

Assistant Coach - Tactics: Tim Blyther (42)
Blyther is an Australian who played lacrosse in Abanhfleft's Lacrosse Premier League for almost fifteen years, eventually retiring in 2009 with five championships under his belt. Blyther is also a fan of association football, and was the mastermind of adapting some of that's sports tactics into lacrosse, and this combination of lacrosse and football helped lead the Releinthi Fighting Sticks to three consecutive championships in the Lacrosse Premier League. Being the inventor and innovator of FootCrosse (the combination of football and lacrosse tactics), Blyther was invited by the FFoL to be both national teams' tactics coach, but this will be the first time that FootCrosse will be seen on the world stage, and how Abanhfleft will perform in this tournament will determine the viability of FootCrosse on the international lacrosse scene.

Assistant Coach - Training: Chan Lua (56)
A popular aerobics instructor back in the 1980s, Chan Lua was hired by the FFoL in 2012 for a yearly salary of 2 million new penenks, one of the largest yearly salaries ever in the federation. Lua's job will be to increase and enhance the players' fitness levels. Lua's hiring, which had been a controversial decision at the time, eventually paid off when both national teams' starting lineups lasted much longer on the field than their opponents. Observers keen to gauge this side will look to Lua's contributions to the effectiveness of the national side. In his spare time, when he is not the fitness coach of the Fleftic women's national lacrosse team, he is the fitness coach of the Fhulghamous Peninsula national football team.

Menan Alrisheb (#10) - The star player of the Abanhfleft's women's lacrosse team. She definitely has the makings of a world lacrosse superstar, being in the prime of her playing career. Her talent was spotted at a very early age, being already courted by some of the country's top universities when she was still 11. She eventually went to Malhall State University, which has a critically acclaimed lacrosse varsity program and is incidentally near her hometown of Selid, in Myleikaf state. Alrisheb was then signed by the Bytuch Wyk Hermits (Ladies) at the age of 21. Alrisheb began representing Abanhfleft in 2005, when she was a reserve attacker for the U-18 side. She made her first team debut against Canada in 2009, and she immediately showed signs of her emergence as one of the best lacrosse players of her generations by scoring a goal and assisting in two more in a hard-fought 3-3 draw. She also made waves in the national sports scene when she announced that she was in a relationship with Ibrahim Ahmadinejad, right fielder of the Verbergerkinnh Cubs of the Abanhfleft Major League of Baseball and the men's national baseball team.

Fatima Alsambis (#9) - One of Fleftic sports' greatest success stories. Alsambis was diagnosed with a congenital defect which meant that she had little to no control over her excretory system, leading to her being stuck with diapers her whole life. Most people would have given up the rest of their lives at that, but not Fatima Alsambis. Despite her medical condition, Alsambis strived hard in athletics, and eventually became a skilled lacrosse player. One would think that playing sports, especially lacrosse, would be hard while wearing an adult diaper, but Alsambis made it work. She was signed by the Riuwiee Stateswomen in 2004, and she was called up to the national team soon after. Cecilia Cuvimi (#8) - Cuvimi carrries on her shoulders the legacy of the Cuvimi sporting family, begun by her grandfather, Cecil Rhodes Cuvimi, Senior. She started playing for the Bendy Benny Benders (Ladies) in 2004, and was called up to the national team in 2007. Up to this day, she has been inconsistent in her playing style. Sometimes she shows the brilliance that evokes the run-and-gun style of the elder Cuvimis. Other times she plays like a seventeen-year-old reserve player forced up into the first team by injuries to the better players. Cecilia definitely has a lot to prove, and while she has become consistent in her game during the World Lacrosse Championship XIX, there is still room for improvement for her.

ZOVOROSSIA: THE CRUSADERS

Zovorossia is entering their first World Lacrosse Championship this season, sending a team featuring many players from the northeastern region of Ikeria. Ikeria is home to the Greater Saburova Stars, the most dominant lacrosse team in the country, and it sees the greatest support for the sport. Many of these players fought in the northeastern theater of the Second Zovorossian Civil War. The Church of Zovorossia is funding the squad, and is proud to be a part of a tournament in another Christian country.

Most likely to score - Bastian Del Calderon or Alexandra Zurabiani. Both are teammates on the Vlasovo Cyclones, and they're a duo with good chemistry. Both of them are fast, even though Alexandra is faster, but Bastian goes more for ranged shots after getting in position whereas Alexandra prefers to roam and poach goals from close to the net.

Most likely to assist - Our midfield is set up to assist the forwards more than for the purpose of joining the attack, but Christian Nanava sometimes pushes forward and joins the forwards, letting him get assists more often than the Jaqeli sisters.

Most likely to commit fouls - Tyler Polzin, despite being the best defender on the team, will produce a lot of fouls because of his physical play. Catherine Jaqeli is liable to commit fouls in the midfield.

Most likely to start trouble - Even though Polzin commits fouls, he usually doesn't start trouble with the other team. That job solely belongs to Marco Toreli, who doesn't appreciate being fouled or having calls go against him.

Players with upside - Antonia Jaqeli definitely hasn't stepped out of her sister's shadow yet. Other teams likely won't pay attention to her, until she shows flashes of her full potential and scores from range. Slawa Pajari is another player usually overlooked, because of his young age, but he's capable of making very good saves when needed to.

Banija aims for gold at the 23rd edition of the World Lacrosse Championships

ISTRIA- Even though lacrosse is basically only played in Northeast Askum, and the hub is within the City of Istria, Banija has launched itself as a force to be reckoned with in international lacrosse. In their inaugural tournament, at the 21st World Lacrosse Championships, Banija was able to reach the final, including beating the host 13-4 in the semifinals, before their Cinderella run ended against defending champions Cosumar in the final. They found similar success in the 22nd edition, finishing in 3rd place as they were tormented by tournament champions Abanhfleft, losing to them twice in the group stages and once more in the semifinal of the tournament.

This group finished in 4th place at the Multiverse Games in Centralis, host of this year's Olympic games. This group goes into its 3rd straight World Lacrosse Championships not as underdogs, or as a rising powers, but seen and solidified as a major power within the sport. They have medals from both their 1st and 2nd appearances in the tournament, and they are known in lacrosse-playing nations as a world power in lacrosse. Banija is no longer just another country- people associate the nation with lacrosse. Northeast Askum has a tradition of pumping out lacrosse players, as it is by far the most popular sport in that part of that region, and they have done the nation proud on the world stage.

This group is entering their 3rd tournament with high expectations. They had a disappointing finish at the Multiverse Games, losing in their 2nd straight semifinal, and that being their first major international tournament without attaining silverware. As the #4 team in the world, Banija are established as the clear-cut favorites to make it out of the group stage as group winners, and one of the favorites, on a list that includes lacrosse heavyweights like Cosumar and defending champions Abanhfleft, to actually win the whole thing and take home the trophy.

This tournament will feature the end of one of the lacrosse generation that allowed Banija to explode on the international stage. Marko Babic, easily the biggest star on the team and the most recognizable name in Banijan lacrosse, will be retiring from the sport after this tournament. He has a great passion in playing for his country, and will surely leave it all on the field as he captains this team with the hunger of knowing that this is his last chance to get that trophy. Among the other names retiring at this tournament include winger Ethan Zwic, and defenders Robert Ilic and Travis Verska, who will both be coming off the bench, at least for the group stages.

The biggest name retiring is not Marko Babic, for all of his starpower. It is the head coach and the President-Elect of the Lacrosse Association of Banija, Dejan Polek. He will become the next President of the national organization for the sport he loves. He has been seen as a pioneer for the sport, all over the country. He has spread the game across the country, though the team is still comprised of players entirely from Northeast Askum. It was his idea, in the early stages, to take a Banijan team to the first World Lacrosse Championships. He convinced the association, and Banijans at-large, that the team could go out and compete with the best in the world, and he has proven that time and time again.

Dejan Polek has repeatedly said that he believes that to maintain this sort of success, there needs to be a change at the helm every once in a while. Even though the association would have been willing to extend his contract past the 23rd World Lacrosse Championships, he thought that it would be best for the team if they had a change of the guy at the top. While he was convinced to stay for this tournament, he promised that this would be the last time he would ever coach this team. At the same time, he was able to run for, and win as the sole candidate, the Presidency of the Lacrosse Association of Banija. Dejan Polek has said he has a vision for lacrosse in Banija, but he will work on that after the tournament. He is scheduled to take office exactly 1 month after the World Lacrosse Championship final.

The group itself looks favorable for Banija. As Banija was a top-6 team, they were able to be placed as the top seed in their group. They were drawn with #27 Britonisea, #33 Natanians and Nosts, and the Minecraft Miners, who are unranked and entering their first-ever World Lacrosse Championship. While Banija goes into the group stages as heavy stages, they are sure to be reminded of what happened in the last tournament. They were slight favorites to win the group, but Abanhfleft dominated every game of the group on the way to a title in the 22nd WLCS, which included defeating Banija twice, in Banija, during the group stages and annihilating them 19-8 during the semifinals.

The 6 game group stage is set up so everybody can play each other twice. Banija was lucky and placed in Group F, the only group to playing in a lacrosse-specific stadium. They will be playing at the Lacrosse Stadium in New Centra, which is very passionate about the sport, and will have plenty of seating available for Banijan lacrosse fans traveling from our nation. They will open with the unranked Minecraft Miners, then play Britonisea, and then the Natanians and Nosts, and then repeat that same schedule. Banija knows it needs to start out strong, and while we believe Banija are heavy favorites against the Minecraft Miners, they will use the WLC opener to prepare for tougher games against both Britonisea and Natanians and Nosts.

No Place For Heroes, Part One

Gharbambiyah City, Gharbambiyah

Gerry Anthony woke up to the sound of throbbing airplane engines.

Because his brain had just come out of its very deep sleep state, the directions that Gerry's thoughts took were wild and varied. First he thought that he shouldn't be hearing a plane and its engines because he wasn't living anywhere near an airport. Then he thought that someone was about to do a September 11 on Riuwiee for whatever possible reason, and then he finally remembered the real reason why he was hearing plane engines.

Gerry opened his eyes and took in the sights of a Fleftic Air Force C-130 that had been stripped to its bare essentials except for long rows of airliner-style seats in which he and at least two hundred soldiers of the Fleftic Armed Forces had been crammed in for the flight to Gharbambiyah.

Gerry, along with nine other members of a top secret deniable operations unit of the Republican Bureau of Investigation, had boarded the C-130 at Kuroma Air Force Base, and they had the plane to themselves until it landed in Dorfdifving AFB, which was where the Fleftic contingent of the World Assembly Mission to Gharbambiyah (WAMIGHA) had boarded and occupied the two hundred airliner-style seats fitted onto the transport plane. Since the trip from Dorfdifving to Gharbambiyah would take at least ten hours, Gerry thought of getting some shut-eye and did so, sleeping until the plane had finally landed at their destination.

As he stretched his arms Gerry could also barely recall a dream in which he remembered being in a firefight, with bullets flying all over. He also remembered holding a submachine gun in his hands and pulling the trigger at an unseen target. But as the last shreds of the dream faded away from his mind's eye, Gerry felt an elbow digging into his ribs. "Welcome back to the land of the living, Sleeping Beauty," the owner of the elbow said to him.

Gabriel de Galicia, a man in his late fifties rapidly nearing the RBI's mandatory retirement age, flashed a smile in Gerry's direction. A Caucasian with stark white hair and black horn-rimmed glasses over kindly yet tired brown eyes, he looked more like a Confederate soldier than the Mexican bandit that his name suggested. Unfortunately he didn't have the mustache and sideburns necessary to portray an American Civil War-era fighter and commander.

"Are we there yet?" Gerry mumbled through sleep-numbed lips.

"I believe so, because I heard the pilot clearly say just moments ago, 'Welcome to Gharbambiyah,'" Gab replied.

"Thank God for that!" Gerry said. "Honestly, flying coach in a Cessna is much worse than this."

"Don't sweat it, Gerry; you're not the only one looking to get out of this plane ASAP. Our mutual lady friend is complaining something fierce about these seats!"

"Yes, and for good reason!" Ellen Quest piped up from the other side of Gab's seat. The Englishwoman sat up in her seat so Gerry could see to her better. "These seats are packed so tight, you can hardly drop a pin here! And I also need to go to the loo. And I don't think holding it in is a good idea. I've been doing that for ten hours straight now!"

Finally the RBI agents managed to deplane after the main group of Abanhfleft's contribution to WAMIGHA. As Gerry made to follow the soldiers he noticed a sign on the airport tarmac saying WELCOME TO PRESIDENT-FOR-LIFE GENERAL ABDUL FAKKADI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in English, Arabic and a language that he could only describe as alien. "Berber script," Gab said in reply to Gerry's unasked question. "The Berbers were the dominant people in the area before the Muslims came and converted everyone."

"I'll take your word for it," Gerry said. Inside the airport terminal, he spotted a man in a crisp military dress uniform holding up a placard with the word ANTHONY handwritten on it. "I'm Anthony," he told the military man as they approached.

The man lowered the placard and saluted Gerry. "Greetings, Mr Anthony," he said. "I am Colonel Hamzi Hassan Hafizullah Hashimullah Abdulmutallab of the Ministry of National Security. If you will follow me please, I will lead you to the vehicle that will take you to your new quarters."

Abdulmutallab led their little group out of the terminal and into the parking lot, where a small tour bus was waiting for them. "I apologize for the quality of transportation that our government was able to muster for your transport at arrival," he said, "but it is not everyday that our beloved nation is visited by a single agent of the Republican Bureau of Investigation, let alone ten. I assure you though, Agent Anthony, that the Ministry of National Security and the government of the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Gharbambiyah is willing to help you in any way possible."

Gharbambiyah

Gerry Anthony leaned back in his seat in the tourist bus as the uniformed Ministry of National Security driver started the vehicle at the nod of Colonel Abdulmutallab. The driver took the bus out of the airport parking lot and onto the main drag, which incidentally was also the only six-lane paved highway in the entirety of Gharbambiyah. It wasn't due to lack of funding or the other problems that plague the average African nation-state though; Gharbambiyah was simply too small to need more than one.

The scenery outside the bus was made up of almost all desert and rocky hills that looked like mountains with their deceptively sharp peaks and sides, with a few buildings scattered about both sides of the highway. It reminded Gerry of the Myleishi Plateau, the immense elevated desert plain that spanned across numerous Fleftic provinces and encompassed his hometown of Haranguer. Sure, the sandstorms and "salt-storms" from the salt flats were dangerous and not to mention painful to the eyes, but it was home sweet home, and he wouldn't have it any other way. Although his apartment in Riuwiee was quite comfortable as well, if a bit noisy from all the traffic.

It was probably not a good time to mention that until this year, Gharbambiyah was classified by the World Assembly as a rogue nation and a potential flashpoint for an African Islamist revolt.

"So, what is the RBI investigating in my country, Mr Anthony?" Abdulmutallab asked Gerry as they settled in for the drive.

"We're not actually investigating anything, Colonel," Gerry replied. "We're just here to keep an eye on the Fleftics in your country, as well as Fleftic interests in the area."

"And what would those Fleftic 'interests' happen to be?"

"Oh, you know, the usual suspects. Fleftic citizens, Fleftic businesses in your country, AQIM, Boko Haram... that sort of thing."

"Ah, yes, the group that claims that Western teachings are sacrilege. They have never posed any problems for my country yet, but I say that this bud must be nipped before it blooms and spreads its poisonous pollen throughout the continent of Africa."

Gerry nodded. Then he sat up when he noticed a large billboard mounted beside the road. It depicted five people; four men and one woman; four whites and one black. Gerry recognized the face of the large figure at the far left of the billboard and rising above the others as that of Gharbambiyah's new president, Isaiah Cabulovowino. The words WE STAND TOGETHER FOR A BETTER FUTURE were written beside his head in English, Arabic and Berber. Gerry also knew that the two other men beside Cabulovowino's large figure were those of Vice President Thomas Aragaineselase and Lord High Commander General Charles Serserisenyyo of the Gharbambiyan Armed Forces, but he didn't know who the black man and the lone woman were. "Who are those two?" he asked Abdulmutallab, pointing at the billboard in question.

"Ah, yes," Abdulmutallab said in reply. "Those are Colonel General Stephane Eskalumbuye and Lieutenant General Milena Casai. There is a fun fact about General Casai that I can tell you, Mr Anthony. She was born to the house of Casairarivarana but she decided to shorten her name to Casai so that the makers of the name tags will not have to use so much metal to craft hers. Is that not a fun fact?"

"I guess," Gerry muttered.

"They are members of the Supreme Council of Decisions, the body that convenes under the guidance of President Cabulovowino and helps him with making decisions for the implementation of new laws to govern the country. Aside from being Supreme Councillors and members of the armed forces, no one knows a lot of Eskalumbuye and Casai's functions within the government of Gharbambiyah, but there are rumors that they have been commissioned as the heads of secret nuclear and chemical weapons programs at the behest of President Cabulovowino."

"Now that's just crazy, man," Gerry told the Gharbambiyan colonel. "Gharbambiyah barely has enough cash to keep itself financially afloat, let alone set aside funds for secret weapons programs." Sure, nuclear weapons were far beyond the reach of Gharbambiyah, but a secret chemical weapons program was more plausible. Gerry decided to file away the thought in a corner of his mind.

Their bus passed by a sign welcoming them to the city of Chah Rajawhm, one of the seven city-states comprising the federation that was Gharbambiyah. It had been an independent Muslim city-state before it was conquered by the forerunner of the modern Gharbambiyan state. The bus took them to the city's small airport and then parked in front of a hangar. "Welcome to Chah Rajawhm," Abdulmutallab said. "This will be your quarters for the duration of your station in Gharbambiyah. "I apologize for the conditions of your quarters. This was the only place that the government thought would be suitable for hosting agents of the Republican Bureau of Investigation that was also far enough away from the prying eyes of the WA peacekeepers. I hope you will not mind, and that it is enough for your needs."

"Yes, Colonel, it's perfect for our needs," Gerry replied, looking at the inside of the hangar.

"I am glad that you are satisfied," Abdulmutallab said. "The men from Customs will be here tomorrow to brief you all in the proper customs of the country, and to stamp the passports and complete the paperwork, the kind of stuff. Once again, welcome to the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Gharbambiyah."

Maxen Uaithne spent most of the time before the game going over everything this nation had to offer tourists, guests, and such along with the rest of the team. Being a part of The Colony's new sports program was exciting for all of them, they were not expecting to win either, notes from the other event they had done proved that while they didn't have a chance they could still pull a few wins out if they tried hard enough. The goal was still just to get exposure, though looking over this place's offers that seemed like it would be harder to do than with the games themselves. At least the team would be able to work together well, that's something all Ferrets could do well, even if the overall wasn't so good.

The team had gotten a whole new set of equipment to do these Lacrosse events. They had excitedly used this equipment to try and practice as much as they could before the first game. None of them were really trying to be aggressive about it though, it was more for the fun of it. Though at this stage of the new program no one was surprised, for now that was part of the goal, to get excited and get exposure. The whole team was lucky that they could do it as a group compared to some of their other Ferrets outside The Colony.

During the game the team spent most of the time trying to play more defensively. And the other team was definitely better than them, Vaughn Ib was pushed beyond his skill level, though he did try his best and stop a few of the other team from getting points. And the defense members did all they could to relieve him of the pressure of being overwhelmed. Though they all lacked the skill the other team had, the attack members were able to at least get one point for the team. Maxen couldn't have been more proud of his team for that one fact alone, and on how well they all tried to work together, he knew that this new program could stand a chance and how the others involved in this must have felt.

Ferret Civilization 1–9 West Guiana

After the game the team spent most of the time just relaxing, they all had overworked themselves trying to play the game better than terrible. The whole team was happy to have gotten at least one point. "Great job everyone. Later we can go see what this place is like." Even though they were all tired, they were still cheerful and looked forward to doing that.

Two sports talk show hosts are at the training camp of the Zovorossian lacrosse team. We hear that they are discussing the hopes of Zovorossia going deep in the tournament.

TALK SHOW HOST 1: This team is being serially underrated, we might not have flash players or a great attacking team but they do everything that they need to do in order to be successful. We have a group that we stand a chance to compete in, and I think by the end of this, we'll have put our mark on the lacrosse world.

TALK SHOW HOST 2: I have faith in Ryan Acosta, and the rest of the staff, I agree and I think they'll get the best out of our team. It's our year, I know we said that about the IBC team also, but this time I really feel confident about the squad we're fielding.

The young rookies surfaced for this tournament. Lilijane Zupan, Marissa Benishek, Goran Alenovic, Marko Pejic, Marina de Silva Marinovic, Martins Kasmets, and Marija Radisic... the eldest only 24 years of age with three of them being too young to drink in the US. Three of them are duel nationals at that. One of them had been raised in Brazil far away from the Balkans with another being an American citizen with both of her parents being ethnic Slovenes who fled Yugoslavia some thirty years ago. The other was the child of diplomats from Lithuania born in Jehenna/Beograd. Now with the High Empress being in power instead of a Communist regime, the Serbian Empire is an alternate world version of a peaceful change from Communism with an intact Yugoslavia.

Citizenship can be by both blood and by being born in the Empire proper and thus these athletes compete alongside of the Zupan sisters from a small town in Montenegro. Tihana was even on the championship team just a few days before her 18th birthday. Now she's the centerpiece of a rebuilt Serbian Empire team. Some of the players have long retired since that miracle run yet Tihana still shines bright. She is the all time leading scorer for the Serbian Empire's Lacrosse team with over 150 goals in international competition. Yet her sister often referred to as just Lili has mirrored her career path although a year and a half later than her older sister and in a crowded roster where the likes of Marina de Silva Marinovic and her older sister serve as roadblocks for the utility role player who can play every position except goalkeeper.

Lacrosse is a major sport to Polarians, and they don't care if it's national teams or some third division teams. They will have a good time, even if the game is bad. Will cheer for good plays on the opponent's end as well.

Cut! As a note, the cutoff tomorrow will be 2-3 hours earlier so as to be before the Thanksgiving festivities, which can last for many hours in my family. "Three weeks before the new year, an RBI officer working as the representative of the Ministry of Finance in Mauritania that then-General Isaiah Cabulvowino of the Gharbambiyan Army had made a deposit of 600,000 dollars from one of his numerous Swiss accounts into an offshore account in the Cayman Islands," Gerry Anthony told his subordinates as the appropriate slides flashed by behind him on the projector screen. He was briefing his people on the mission that had seen them deployed to this little corner of Africa. "A 'computer data analyst' under the employ of the Republican Bureau of Investigation," Gerry pointed at Dennis Messi, a sandy-haired man in his early thirties who was basically the team's "resident combat hacker," as Gerry liked to call him, "manage to trace the owner of receiving account to this website."

The screen behind Gerry now showed a black web page with white text with a big logo prominently displayed in the center. "This is the web page of Group I Security," Gerry said. "It's a private security company that was established two years ago by an anonymous society. As of right now, this website is the only way that we know of contacting Group I. They have no physical address, no PO box, not even telephone number or receptionist to divert calls. But the thing that really made them stick out for us was the fact that at around the same time that Cabulovowino wired 375,000 dollars into Group I's account, their site posted a notice saying that they will be unavailable for business until further notice. Ten days later, one of our satellites photographed a private jet on the tarmac of Abdul Fakkadi International Airport with ten people disembarking. Unfortunately for us, not even the lads at the National Signals Collection Committee were able to give us identification on the ten people through looking down at them from our eye in the sky.

"Anyway, Director Soriano has given us the job of finding out the identities of these people, mostly because things like these are not the problem of our Tier One units, but also because she believes that we are the people best suited for this kind of job. Seriously now though, the only worry we have with Group I is that they may be clandestinely assisting Isaiah Cabulovowino in consolidating his grip on Gharbambiyah. Cabulovowino is still on the World Assembly's watchlist of potential dictators and strongmen, and these Fleftics may be used in all kinds of crimes against humanity or that kind of thing.

"We need to find out who exactly are the members of Group I, and what their intentions are. To be honest, if Cabulovowino does turn out to be yet another African dictator, we cannot have Fleftic citizens actively assisting him in solidifying control in his country and eliminating his competition. We've done this kind of thing before, and we can do it again. Now let's all turn in for the night, 'cause we've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow. Oorah?"

"Oorah!"

"Hey there, Dani. Are you still awake?"

"Hi there, Gerry, Yes, I'm still awake," Bogdana Kerry, Gerry's ex-wife, said half a world away, back in Riuwiee. The two of them were talking through video chat, as it was the only way that they could talk due to the unreliability of cell sites in Gharbambiyah.

"So how are things stateside?" Gerry asked.

"Nothing much important's gone on over here," Dani replied. "Things are quiet; just the way I like it. How about you though? Is Gharbambiyah treating you well?"

"Oh, I'm just fine, Dani. There's a lot of sand here, but that's just like Haranguer. It feels like home, but it's not actually home. Still, it's very much like Las Vegas, except without the casinos and the strip clubs and the casinos and the pawn shops."

"Sounds like a swell place. Maybe I should go there sometime."

"I know. Anyway, how are your legs now? Can you walk on them now?"

"Not yet, Gerry, but I'm making progress. I finally traded in my crutches for a cane."

"Really? That's good to hear!"

The story of Gerry and Dani's love story and marriage wasn't the average love story, nor was it conventional. While part of the SWAT unit of the Riuwiee Police Department, Gerry and his detachment had responded to a bank robbery. One of the robbers had taken one of the people inside the bank hostage, and Gerry, who was the detachment's sniper, had been ordered to take down the hostage-taker by any means necessary. Gerry took the shot, and took out the hostage-taker, but unfortunately the bullet overpenetrated and struck the hostage in her spine and paralyzed her from the waist down. Gerry had gone to the hospital after the incident had been neutralized to apologize to the woman, and that was how he had met Bogdana Kerry. Somehow their relationship had then turned into friendship, and that friendship then turned into love, and then Gerry and Dani had gotten married. Unfortunately for them their relationship had been built on apologies and regrets, and so their marriage had ended after two years in divorce.

But Gerry Anthony was one of those rare people that believed in the power of love. In his whole life he had loved only two women truly and totally and with his all: a woman named Raisa Darylson whom he had served with in Riuwiee PD and Dani Kerry. Raisa and Gerry's relationship hadn't worked out because Raisa had disappeared. Technically Raisa hadn't actually disappeared, but Gerry hadn't pursued their abortive relationship because she wasn't returning his texts and calls too. Dani was the only woman whom Gerry had kept in contact with, and it was Gerry who had paid for her rehabilitation. And while Dani still wasn't ready to commit with Gerry once again, she was open to the possibility. Just not right now.

"At least I'm spending more time on my feet than in a chair now," Dani quipped.

"Don't worry about me, Dani," Gerry said. "Once I'm done spreading democracy I hope to be back home in two to three months."

"Don't get yourself shot over there, Gerry."

"Don't worry, Dani. I'll keep myself out of the line of fire. Anyway, it's time for me to go. We've got a big day ahead of us over here. I don't know when I'll be able to call you again so... goodbye for now."

"Goodbye, Gerry. I'll be waiting for you."

Ferret Civilization 14–7 Ethane

Vaughn spent the entire game trying even harder than he did the first time, feeling great since he had a lot of helpful support from his fellow teammates, even the attack members of their team seemed to put in an extra effort to win. Maxen cheered them on all he could, even as the other team was still able to get past them and make their own points they didn't care, they focused on trying themselves. The other team played very hard against them, and they also had many advantages over them. That didn't stop them from trying any less, though they didn't have as much fun with it. After the game was over and the found out they actually won the game they celebrated themselves. They all deserved it after overworking themselves to get that win. Maxen was sure to keep track of the games, right now, they were one to one, and still early in the games themselves, which was great for them.

With their next game most of the team was very well worn down by now, they had overworked themselves for two games with little rest and a lot of practice. Maxen noticed how that showed through each of the team members even though they all had on happy faces and still tried hard. He spent the game trying to figure out how to fix that problem, none of them could afford to wear themselves down like that. The whole team still worked together every well with little mistake, though the other team still had the advantage upon them. Vaughn continued push himself to the limit for the team, and even that didn't keep the other team from scoring over them. The attack members of the team were also still working out the best way to work together against the other teams. In the end they did end up losing, but only by a single point.

Maxen looked at them all as they stretched out, "Great job as always. Relax, you've all earned it after the amount of work you are putting into this." That got everyone smiling again even though most of them were starting to really feel sore now. They had faced off against every other team in the group they were placed in. And they had a one to two win/lose ratio. Which was pretty great to them, but with that it would probably mean they would be going home after this round of games. He wanted to make sure that his team stayed healthy and happy, since their point of being here was just to really learn and get exposure still. And so far they had focused on winning, which had the reverse effect of wearing them out and still having them end up losing.

"Fernando, we need to talk."

"How may I help you, Gerry? What is it this time?"

Fernando Tarrasco was one of Gerry Anthony's more controversial operatives for his clandestine unit. The product of a Filipino immigrant woman and an Ecuadorian immigrant swindler, Fernando had capitalized upon his father's work and used it to create a large criminal that by the time of his capture had made him one of the most wanted men in the South American continent. His arrest came about from the most mundane of causes: an expired driver's license on one of his many aliases, and he would've posted bail almost immediately before someone from the Fleftic National Police recognized him as the biggest South American crime lord since Pablo Escobar which led to his further detention.

Gerry Anthony had recognized the significance of Fernando Tarrasco's "criminal" empire far earlier than the RBI had. So Gerry had paid Fernando a visit in the station where he was being held prisoner, and there they had struck a deal: in exchange for Fernando's freedom, he would be secretly hired by the RBI as a "civilian consultant," making available his underworld network for use by the authorities. Fernando's assistance had proven critical for the Trail of Ashes affair in South America, even though they ended up losing one of the stolen South African nukes to Gerry's "friend" afflicted with chronic backstabbing disorder Jonathan Longissimus.

"When we got onboard that C-130 at Kuroma," Gerry said as Fernando walked up to him, "we left behind a lot of our firepower back home. I'm sure you know about the little 'fight' going on between Cabulovowino and the local warlords that 'refuse to submit to his authority,' so I've been thinking of getting some heavy firepower for all of us because... well, let's face it. Pistols don't count for shit in this country. They'll only respect Kalashnikovs and M16s here."

"All right, Gerry," Fernando replied. "I'll see what I can do. But it sure won't be easy."

Three hours later, Fernando got a call. He spoke to the person at the other end in good fluent Spanish and then he hung up, turned to Gerry and said, "It's ready."

"That was quick," Gerry quipped. "Even for you."

Gerry and Fernando went out of the hangar that their unit was using as both their staging ground and their quarters and walked over to the airport parking lot. There they found a man standing beside a Suzuki APV that had once been fully white but the underside was now a khaki-brown due to the accumulated dust and sand. The man handed a set of keys to Fernando and then left without a word.

"Not the chatty type, is he?" Gerry asked as they got inside the vehicle.

"There's not much for us to talk about," Fernando replied. "Besides, the less said, the less overheard. Especially by the wrong ears."

The drive from Chah Rajawhm back to Gharbambiyah CIty was quick thanks to the national highway, but just before they entered the city proper Fernando turned their vehicle onto what appeared to be a dirt path carved into the sand but was actually labeled as a national road on official maps. A sign beside the "road" showed them that it led to the Port of Gharbambiyah. But before they got there, they had to stop and give way for a number of trucks and semis going the opposite direction, back to the highway. Once those trucks had passed them by, it was a straightforward drive to the port. It was an area of bustling activity which was itself astonishing considering that there was barely any ship-based trade going on at the tip of the westward bulge of Africa. The population of Gharbambiyah City also wasn't big enough to merit such shipping activity. One would be forgiven for thinking that the recent situation in the country, which was itself just recovering from Isaiah Cabulovowino's coup, would've dissuaded business and foreign investment in the country.

"It's very busy, huh?" Gerry said. "It looks like traffic to here has actually gone up in the last few months ever since Cabulovowino made himself president.

"I like to think that all this activity is due to arms dealers taking advantage of the situation in Gharbambiyah and selling their wares to the highest bidder," Fernando replied.

"And I suppose you would have extensive knowledge of these dealings," Gerry said with a smile.

"What? I'm shocked that you would think that of me!" Fernando retorted with theatrical sarcasm. "A gentleman never tells."

Fernando brought their vehicle to the place where cranes were loading and unloading cargo containers from trucks and ships. At least five trucks had already received their containers and were forming up for another convoy run into the city. Fernando brought the Suzuki up to the sixth truck, a dark green Scania, whose driver stepped out of the cab as soon as Fernando had brought the Suzuki to a stop. The driver of the Scania walked towards Fernando and tossed the truck's keys into the open window and into Fernando's waiting hands.

"Yet another one of your silent workers," Gerry observed.

"Mock them at your own risk, Anthony," Fernando said. "They work hard to maintain their secrecy. Come on. I want to inspect the goods before we take them back to the rest."

"They're your own goods, Nando," Gerry said. "Why do you even have to inspect them?"

"You never know if the Americans put tracking devices into my merchandise," Fernando replied.

Fernando got up to the trailer and opened the container. Gerry whistled as he took in the contents and their number. "This is enough guns and ammo to supply an army," he said. "Where were you gonna send this in the first place, anyway?"

"I forgot, actually," Fernando replied. "Mauritania, Morocco, Western Sahara; hell, maybe even to Abdullah Sulaiman or Cabulovowino himself." Abdullah Sulaiman was the president of Gharbambiyah whom Isaiah Cabulovowino had overthrown. "I might even have sent them to AQIM or Boko Haram for the right price."

"You are a dirty capitalist pig, right to the bone."

"And I love it! It's a beautiful life, being a dirty capitalist pig."
