Yeah, I know it's not the same thingy were football and other sports are played on (anymore), but I know that it's some sort of green (or blue) and not white/icey.


And now to something completely different.

Why working yourself if you can let other do the work for you? I did this before, so I try it again.

As the best way to have a good team is to buy other good players, Kriegiersien increases it's team sport squads (every Ball team sport is available) with players from other countries. Many of them are already originating from Electrum and New Gelderland, who just happen to take over the Kriegiersien jersey for the Olympics at home.
If you have a player who want's to compete for a Kriegiersien team for whatever reasons (trouble with his own association, too good/bad for his nation, fleeing from the regime, Kriegiersien ancestors, too much money offered from Kriegiersien, a spy etc.), telegram me.
It could be a coach, a player, a physio, whatever. Maybe that offers a opportunity for some roleplay.

Hey, you have a big advantage over teams who play ice hockey on the field hockey field. Nearly double the number of players, they are running with skates on gras, half of their actions are fouls... That should be easy.

Fun fact: Ice hockey had it's first appearance at the summer games, 1920 in Antwerp.

Yeah I mean it's up to the host, but I could totally see the guys who fielded an ice hockey lineup for field hockey would have their skill modifiers reduced to pretty much zero, lol

Yes. Hockey is field hockey. Football is 'Soccer', not American Football, Australian Football, or any other kind of football. When I first came to these forums, I initially thought the WCoH was field hockey, not ice. Food for thought, eh?

I've always thought that since the RL Olympics sport selection process is largely based on sports that are more popular in the RL world, the NS one should also have some sports that are more popular in ns but are not so across the wider rl world.

Well, Ice Hockey is in the olympics, just the winter ones. There is no need to have it in the summer games as well.

American football as a demonstration event is fair enough. I believe the selection of the demonstration sports for these games though was based on the sports that will make their RL games debut at Rio next year.

Well, Ice Hockey is in the olympics, just the winter ones. There is no need to have it in the summer games as well.

American football has been a demonstration sport in the past. In recent years demonstration sports have moved away from host responsibility, so it's up to people to propose (and sign up for) them. In any case demonstration sports in the Olympics tend not to be RPed that much anyway, and team sports too, let alone demonstration team sports. Simply wanting something doesn't mean it'll happen.

More importantly, as a participant in this competition, I object to the fact that I will be asked to RP with people who are RP'ing the same tournament with a completely different sport. That makes RP'ing almost impossible, and is completely unfair to those of us who actually want to RP field hockey, when someone comes in and starts talking about checks and icing calls and the rest of it.

Writing as someone who's actually attended hockey matches at a summer olympics (1996 - men's and women's), the basic point is sound - as others have also pointed out.

I haven't attended any Olympic field hockey, but I've attended an NCAA Field Hockey Tournament (in 2012) and two Big East Field Hockey Tournaments (in 2010 and 2013) while I was at college at UConn, so I care about the sport too. It's worth noting that when I host tournaments, RPing about the tournament as if it's a different sport (e.g. RPing an American football tournament as if it's soccer) is one of the few things that would earn you an RP Bonus of zero - the others being a gibberish post or one in another language. Even one-liners like "We won Woohoo" got something. Not much, but something. (Posts violating others' RP permissions were generally graded normally with a penalty deducted after the fact which usually more than outweighed whatever bonus was received but was dependent on the severity of the violation, not the bonus earned.) It may be different in a multi-sport event, particularly if they RP multiple sports, but that's up to the hosts.

Draws are up for Boxing, Tennis and Table Tennis, as these bracketed tournaments take place over multiple days. Draws for Judo, Taekwondo are already made (Wrestling, for tomorrow as I need a break from data entry), but won't be released since the results all come out in one day anyways...

It's not like ice hockey although high sticking is rule break if it hits the face. I'm more familiar to lacrosse and ice hockey (I have an OHL team in Saginaw as a feeder to the NHL as the place where Brandon Saad played before joining the Blackhawks in Chicago).

Going through the sign-ups, I've realised that in the Shooting, in FFR's Signup Creator, it has two instances of "Women's Skeet" instead of "Men's Skeet" and "Women's Skeet". As a result, those who used the SC may have signed up four entries for the women's skeet, and 0 for the men's skeet. I think as a precaution, people should send two replacement male names to the account Electrum and New Gelderland if they used the signup creator, to replace those with two sets of women's skeet athletes.
