Games of the X Olympiad
hosted by
Centralis, Electrum and Nassau Bay, New Gelderland
Nations of the Multiverse,
We Gelders and Electrumites would like to invite you all to participate in the tenth edition of the Summer Olympics, the Games of the X Olympiad. In many ways it is historic -- it is the first Olympics to ever be co-hosted by two nations. It is the first Olympics in the Terranea region of Rushmore. But these Olympic Games mean so much more, they represent the sporting passion and spirit of the entire multiverse and where people can come together, to celebrate human and beast achievement.
We have provided for you all world-class athletes villages and venues in both Centralis and Nassau Bay, as well as the different venues scattered throughout the two nations. We hope you enjoy these games as much as we do, and hope that this event will be very successful -- we hope not to do you wrong.
Jonathan Mercer and Sally Lines
NGOC and EOC President
Liam Pierce
Bid Chairman (New Gelderland)
How to sign up
Please pay attention and read through the following information very carefully. If there is a problem with your sign-up, it may not be entered and you might need to resubmit your entries.
You should copy and paste the event list in your post and fill in both the nation name, and the trigramme (a three letter code representing your nation). For each sport, there may be particular events -- usually one for each gender. The number in brackets are the entry limit, for example, a (2) would mean you can only send a maximum of two athletes to that event.
In some team events, where the number of people is specified, such as (1 team of 2), then you will need to provide two names, separated by a forwards slash. In other team events, a team of athletes needs to be entered -- for competitions that simply say (1 team), then you should just enter your nation's name, rather than the names of every single athlete (there will be a roster thread for that purpose, where you can also add additional information about your team, such as flagbearers/officials/etc.) Individual athlete's names provided should be First Name and Last Name, with only the first letters capitalised (see below). Team names should be just the simple name of your delegation, eg. 'New Gelderland', NOT 'The Delegation of New Gelderland'.
There is a maximum of 570 entries per nation (Entering the maximum amount of athletes in all events including demonstration). An entry is just one participation of an event (adding up all the numbers in parentheses). A puppet delegation may be added, but the total entries per user is 600, but each delegation (puppet or main) must not exceed the 570 limit. Unified teams of two or more nations/associations are subject to the same rules above, with each OOC user having 600 entries, and one delegation can not have more than 570 entries. All puppets and unified teams should be declared, and they should have a different trigramme.

If you don't have any athletes participating in a particular event, please remove it from your sign-up sheet. Do not 'tag' or add a post and say that you are going to edit in your entry later. If you have any alterations or edits to your sign-up sheet, do so in a new post, or it will be missed.
You may use the Free Republic's Signup Creator to assist you in creating your delegation, found at this link.
Skill Modifiers
Each athlete will be assigned by you a skill between 0 to 100. 0, in this case means, an athlete who has just qualified for the event, and is still pretty decent when compared to the average person. 100 means they are the world's best. The average skill modifier (adding up all the numbers, then dividing by the total amount of athletes) across your entire delegation should be less than or equal to 50. Entries may be scaled down if the average is a bit higher, but entries will be outright rejected if the average far exceeds 50.
Please note that you should try to avoid the use of 'min-max' your entries ie. submitting unrealistic delegations of 0s and 100s only, with no numbers in the middle. You will be penalised by the MMAB based on how much this occurs to your delegation. The weighting for this tournament's RP Bonus will be 20% MMAB, 30% last day's RP, 50% cumulative RP. The methodology for KP's MMAB formula can be found here.
The skill modifier for each athlete/team should be placed under the event you want them to participate in. It should be in the following format: Player Name/Nation;Trigramme;Skill Modifier. Make sure that the trigramme you nominate is consistently used throughout. Use semicolons to delineate between the different sections. Examples of all the formats of a signup are below.

We wish to thank for him for programming it -- it saves a lot of time in calculating averages, though note that you can not save progress: so either do all the entries in one sitting, or do them in parts and combine them at the end (just make sure you stay under 50)

A note
You do not have to be an experienced NS Sports user to participate -- in fact, anyone can! Many people not from NS Sports only participate in this event, as it is the Olympics. There is no minimum or recommended amount of entries, just send whatever you feel like. If you're unsure on how to do anything -- reread this thread, or telegram this account, New Gelderland and myself (Electrum) will be more than happy to help you sign up for this event. If you're going to use Free Republic's signup creator (a real time-saver), as noted before you can not save progress of your entries: so either do all the entries in one sitting, or do them in parts (do the first few sports on one day, then more sports on the next day, etc.) and combine them all at the end (just make sure you stay under 50 all through out).
Deadline
You can submit additional entries in additional to your original entry for as many time as you want before the deadline. The deadline for entries is set at Tuesday, November 24 01:00 UTC. From that point on, hosts will use discretion whether or not minor alterations to entries will be accepted as well. This is one week before the competition starts. The competition will be scheduled over a 22 day period, with Days 0-1 and the Opening Ceremony being exclusively in Centralis, Electrum, and Days 21-22 and the Closing Ceremony will be exclusively in New Gelderland. Dates are tentatively the first three weeks of December (November 28-December 19).
