Welcome to The Open Championship of Atlantian Oceania! The newest Grand Slam on the ATP circuit, it is being held at the Olympic Tennis Centre in Emberton. Those with a long memory may remember the venue from the Seventh Summer Olympics held here in Emberton, the capital of Krytenia; for those who don't...well, it's a chance to make some memories of your own.

One hundred and sixty eight singles players, and seventy-nine pairs of doubles, will be competing in the event; currently, the doubles competition is unsorted pending update to the rankings.

The Singles Competition
[*]The top thirty-two players entered in the competition are seeded in the main draw.
[*]The next thirty-two ranked players are unseeded, but qualify automatically to the main draw.
[*]The three Krytenian players with an ATP rank not in the top sixty-four are wild-carded into the main draw.
[*]One player from each nation with no players in the top sixty-four entrants receive one wildcard place (Grand Angland, Spartaned, Cosumar, Rietumimark, Witty Penguins, and Semarland).
[*]The fifteen next-ranked players also qualify automatically to the main draw, giving a total of eighty-eight.
[*]The remaining eighty players have been drawn into forty play-off single qualifiers. No player will play anyone from their own country, and the forty winners advance to the main draw.
[*]All matches, including qualifiers, are best of five sets. Sets at 6-6 are decided by tiebreaker; if the fifth set is at 6-6, then play continues until a player leads by two games.

The Doubles Competition
[*]The top sixteen pairs entered in the competition are seeded in the main draw.
[*]The next sixteen ranked pairs are unseeded, but qualify automatically to the main draw.
[*]One pair from each nation with no players in the top thirty-two entrants receive one wildcard place (Grand Angland, Witty Penguins, Spartaned, Cosumar, Rietumimark, Natanians and Nosts, Semarland, and The Sword Bloke).
[*]The remaining thirty pairs have been drawn into fifteen play-off single qualifiers. No pair will play anyone from their own country, and the fifteen winners advance to the main draw.
[*]All matches, including qualifiers, are best of five sets. Sets at 6-6 are decided by tiebreaker; if the fifth set is at 6-6, then play continues until a player leads by two games.

Your Host City - Oxley District, City of Emberton
Emberton is the sprawling capital of Krytenia. Known as the "City of Nations", pretty much all nationalities can be found somewhere in the city limits. The centre of the city is full of gleaming skyscrapers, whilst the outskirts are "garden suburbs" with plenty of parkland. The Olympic Tennis Centre itself is in the Oxley area of the city; expect to see many maroon and navy shirts and scarves, as Royal Emberton FC play about a half mile down the road. Transport is good, with Oxley Hawton Road station on the Emberton Metro the best bet for reaching the venue. If you fancy a bit of a walk, Oxley Park station (on the mainline) is by the football ground, and offers a refreshing (and well-signposted) walk that will take you through the centre of the district, and the bars, restaurants, and cafés therein. Oxley Park Green, next to Oxley Park station, will host a big-screen "fan area" with live music throughout the tournament.

Your Host Venue
The OTC is a rather large venue, set as a venue "in the park". Plenty of landscaping, plenty of space to mingle. Free maps are provided. The complex contains twenty-one courts, including five show courts.

The Medal Court - Marked on the map as MC or Court Zero, this is the main court. Nineteen thousand can be seated here, and there is a retractable roof for bad weather.
Olympus Court (Court One) - Seats fourteen thousand. No roof here (yet), but one is expected to be installed in time for TOCAO II next autumn.
Celesta Court (Court Two) - The smallest of the central courts. Seats 7,800. Easily recognisable by its sky blue seats, as opposed to the dark teal of the rest of the complex.
South Court (Court Ten) - As the name suggests, the southernmost court. Seats 3,100.
North Court (Court Twenty) - As the name suggests, the northernmost court. Also seats 3,100.

The remaining courts range from capacities of five hundred to fifteen hundred. General admission tickets give all-day access to non-show courts, subject to available seats. Reserved seating at any non-show court can be requested prior to day's play. Show court seats are available per match or all day, but will cost more of that hard-earned cash.

Schedule
Tuesday 29 September - Qualifiers (minor courts only)
Wednesday 30 September - Round 1: Singles sections A-D, doubles sections A-B
Thursday 1 October - Round 1: Singles sections E-H, doubles sections C-D
Friday 2 October - Round 2: Singles sections A-D, doubles sections A-B
Saturday 3 October - Round 2: Singles sections E-H, doubles sections C-D
Sunday 4 October - No scorination
Monday 5 October - Singles round 3
Tuesday 6 October - Doubles round of 16
Wednesday 7 October - Singles round of 16
Thursday 8 October - Doubles quarter-finals
Friday 9 October - Singles quarter-finals
Saturday 10 October - Semi-finals
Sunday 11 October - Finals

Cutoffs will be approx 2300-2330 BST (2200-2230 UTC) on each day, except October 1st which is likely to be approximately one hour later. Should any Krytenians reach the last sixteen of any competition, those matches will be scorinated by a third party. RP bonus is cumulative, and added directly to logarithmic rank for each player.

THE HISTORY OF OUR SINGLES PLAYERS. 11/12 Already Qualified!

AREA: Emberton, Krytenia
With Hollande Fullingbloom.

One hundred and sixty eight single players line up in the host city of the 7th Summer Olympic Games, hoping to win a gold medal in the best venue of Emberton. The Tennis Park. Admittedly, Tennis is one of the best, if not the best sport in the entire universe. Forget the World Cup for a second, and not because we don't even get pass the group stages, but let's take a moment to identify the lost sport of NSSports, the lost sport in the multiverse, though one of the most effort used, the most history possessed, and the sport that has been modernised in to the Association of Tennis Professionals, or as most people call it , The ATP Series. It is the final push for the Britonish Squad, and this push must be a big one. Eventhough 11 of the 12 have already qualified, not all 12 Britonish Players will survive for the Round of 16. Though a dream that could be made, it is almost certain that 75% would be washed away by the tennis giants of the world. Giants that we didn't expect, Giants that snatched Britonisea up like a hiding crocodile in murky waters. The Britonish Multi-Surface Tennis Organisation (BMST) or most commonly known as, The Britonish Nation Tennis Association (BNTA) has tried to fund the Britonish failing sport. It was correctly reviewed that less than half of the schools studied Tennis. Why was this? This is because "tennis is a veteran sport." says head-teachers around the country. It was time for a change and BNTA forced the government's inclusion of eight weeks of tennis split in to separate lessons, or, 10 hours of learning tennis and 6 hours of core playing. This sport has overgrown Football, the 90 minute sport people get paid way too much for. Going back to the Month Championships, the start of the main tennis tournaments, Britonisea was triumphant. At the start of ATP, Britonisea still meant something, but that title soon died away. Nearing the end of the year when Britonisea hosted the World Tour Finals in December and January, only one [Ricardo Toli] qualified for the 8-person tournament, and only one couple qualified, a disappointing end to a momentous year. Quite sad. Having 11 out of 12 players qualifying for the main draw draws relevance for Britonisea in the tennis world. This quote comes a month after we nearly enihilated Ceni in the International Tennis Trophy. The Cenians said that if (or when) they beat the world's best tennis nation, they will have signaled a return to relevancy in the tennis world. Now, newsflash, Britonisea is still there, and will always be. Me may not of had the greatest few months, the greatest few years but Britonish Tennis has gone a long way away from the monotonous days of resounding victories from the so called dominant nation. Congratulations to Ceni though, a very close friend succeeds at our national sport, but we're here to reclaim the title of World's best Tennis Nation. World's best Nation? You don't know what I am talking about am I correct? The World of tennis [for Britonisea] started back in 2013. When nations today weren't around.

August 1st 2013, Britonisea enters Tennis. Lance Mance-Lawrence beats Ricardo Toli, who was once part of Bryonie Islands (Which is nowerdays Aloquirbe) . It was a thrilling 5 set match to bring in the new tennis world in. Eventhough Toli won the first two sets 6-4, 6-2, the great Lance Mance came back from two sets to love, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. The crowd roared, was this the great start of Lance Mance, or even Britonisea. That was the starting match of a lot of matches, as August 2nd saw new players emerging. Peter Petes-Larry beat Tatras player Vojtech Jona in another thrilling 5 set match with a circular motion of who wins the set. Then, the women played separately to the men, Abi Forrest lost to her rival from Bryonie Islands, Kayla. Someone who we should recruit as a Britonish Tennis Player. Lacey won against New Edom though. Quick and Easy. The Britannual Britonish Open was a slow, draw out tournament, where players would play every two to three days, so you'd have to wait every odd numbered date to see thrilling action from the Britonish Squad. As Lance, Peter and Lacey progressed through the next round, loads of players from New Edom and New Berenzik fell in the quake of the Britonish. Not so new now. Fast forwarding to the eighth day, Irina Mukhametsova of San Jose Guayabal beat Laila from Bryonie Islands, and it seemed as though the Britonish Earthquake didn't hit the now powerful San Jose Guayabal. It's a shame they don't participate in the ATP, I am pretty sure that joining the ATP Series would improve the tennis quality in their nation; not saying they're bad or anything. Lance Mance did win in the men's though. Britonisea and San Jose Guayabal, tennis champions of the world? Well, that was certainly consolidated in the September Championships. The Men of Bryone Islands beat the men of Britonisea in the finals of the doubles for that thrilling first tournament in new world tennis.

Moving swiftly on to the September Championships, and Ceni joins the gang. Elaine Foyner and Ardil Navsal has keen eyes on the title, though oblivious to what this springboard confirms for them in the future. Estope also joins with Brett Roley and Jared White. Two men who would flaunt top 20, top 10 position in the ATP. Now realising, I know now that these nations joined way before I suspected their addition in to Tennis. Ardil beat Richard King of Britonisea quite easily, something he will learn to do in future, for his benefit. Ricardo Toli didn't do well either, falling at the first hurdle repeating embarrassing memories which faced him in Britonisea's tennis tournament. Unfairly, both Britonish girls played each other, and Lacey beat Abi very easily. Unfortunately, Britonisea had no singles player in the Semi-Finals. However, Britonisea won both titles of Men's and Women's Doubles championships. I wonder why that doesn't reflect on todays results?

Patistan joined for the November Tennis Finals. The only Months Tennis Finals. Ceni beat them. We beat San Jose Guayabal. However we still had a lot to do to be the winners of the tour finals. Lance Mance beat Gloriax which caused hype about Lance Mance in the future. Is Lance Mance going to be the Britonish Poster Boy? Well, San Jose Guayabal did do well too. They were the first nation who passed the 100 points barrier. The finals were weird. Not expected. Varsonian Newton beat Malcolm Courtney of Gloriax, claiming the title while a rematch of Irina and Lacey took place. So skilled. However, Britonisea came out triumphant, making a come back in the overall charts. The points are done, Britonisea won with a three point advantage. Or that's what Britonisea thought. We were only at the quarter finals of the doubles and they did go to the points. Britonisea were knocked out by the tidious, unorganised "group knock out" and it left Patistan and Gloriax in the men's final and Neu Engollon and Varsonian Newton for the final in the womens. Patistan and Neu Engollon won respectively, and this didn't contribute to the overall points, for Britonisea or San Jose Guayabal. The two main nations ended the year drawn at first. Kings of the Land of tennis. A year over a new one started. That new year brought highs and lows, something you'll fins out soon enough, in the coming days.

Back to The Open Championship of Atlantian Oceania or TOCOA (Hopefully it is as juicy and delightful as Tacos), Alvon Quiken is the only one who hasn't qualified for the main draw and therefore has to play Nikolai Sokolova. The name is great, though is the player's tennis as good as. We haven't seen or know any trigramme with RTM. Trying to copy Electrum [ETM] I see? Interesting. We'll see tomorrow. There are problems that face Britonisea in the main draws though. Section A has ranked (2) Elaine Foyner of guess who...If Jason Gordon of Britonisea wins his match against the tongue twister of a name Baumgartner or Amasli, he will play Elaine Foyner. (I mean, do you really think Munoz or Toprac will beat Foyner). And if Elaine or Jason wins their match, they may have to play Leo Garry. Dile Emma, we got a dilemma. Assuming you know an Emma. Tracey Turner is also in that group so hopefully the Britonish can stand up to the much powerful Ceni while also looking out for PCU and Neu Engollon, two masterminds of tennis. I don't have much time, Ricardo Toli is in section C which Ceni's Andy Amada. Interesting. Ricardo has the strength to beat this guy, hopefully a dream to become true. Time will tell fate! Lastly, only 3 of Britonisea's top 12 qualified are ranked.

OOC: Not my real views, kind of.

THE UNITIA CITY TIMES

Penguinish tennis players prepare for Grand Slam

29 September 2015

With the Baptism of Fire now in full swing, the nation is in the grip of football fever. While the football team experienced large fanfare as they departed for Eura, the 15 Penguinish players headed for TOCAO in Krytenia received a more modest farewell as they departed last week. For some of these players this is their second tournament this month, with many competing in the New Oxford Masters in Ceni.

The Penguinish delegation consists of 11 singles players. Two of those singles players, along with four others, form 3 doubles teams.

The young Luis Vincent-Durand has been granted a wildcard, which sends him straight through to the first round. He will face Arthur Huxley, who appears to be a strong opponent, having won against no. 13 Maya Cassington in Ceni. Sara Strauss/Jane Goodlock and Martin Hathaway/Cole Klempt also received wildcards to the first round for the doubles section. The remaining doubles team and singles players will need to win their respective qualifying matches in order to progress. Strauss and Goodlock will be facing Ceni's Thotan and Nagya, while Hathaway and Klempt will play Storm and Chrisp of Frenline Delpha.

Unlike the New Oxford Masters, players will only play one qualifying match, rather than playing in a group. This means players must win their only match, whereas they would've had the chance to progress at Ceni even if they lost one of their match. Of the delegation, 5 have not played internationally before. None of those players have received a wildcard entry, therefore they must start strong on their debut match to get into the main event. The Main Round Begin
Emberton, Krytenia

With the conclusion of TOCAO qualification round, now we're heading to the Main Round of the last Grand Slam tournament this year. In the first day of Round 1, only 5 matches that involved Pemecutanian players and all of them are in Single Competition.

In Section A, Ayu Ratih Kemalasari will meet newcomer Slautoa Ghanujialor of Spartaned. Ghanujialor was a qualifier in New Oxford Masters but lost in the Round of 64 against Carmichael Brown of Electrum. While (11) Ngurah Putra Muliawan will play against host player, Stuart Riley of Krytenia. In New Oxford Masters, Stuart Riley lost in Qualification Round.

Oka Sulastra face hardship by meeting up with (6) Botack Andiam of Ceni in Section B. It could become a quick exit for Sulastra. While still in Section B, (24) Maria Sophia Lubis will be played against Witty Penguins's qualifier, Terry Wakefield. The last but not least, Indah Susanti will meet Livinia Moore of Electrum in Section C.

The rest of Pemecutanian singles and all double teams will be played in the second day of Round 1.

ATP World Tour - News
Grass court swing heads to Grand Slam in Krytenia

Qualifying matches in Emberton, Krytenia are over and the ATP World Tour's top players prepare to fight it out for 2,000 points and up to $2.75 million in prize money. World number one Ardil Navsal, Electrum Slam champions Elaine Foyner and Johmer Vales, and world number 3 Kika Dovan all highlight the field chasing for the crown. However, a good number of the ATP's top players are missing, including Cenian Open champion Riley Escobar of the Andromeda Islands, whose tennis players have not shown up to any international tournaments in the past few months. Also strangely missing are players from Costa de Ouro, who enjoyed a good beginning of the season, and Madesu, whose Gabe Anderson reached the Electrum Slam semifinals this year.

In the doubles tournament, world number 1 pairing Elia and Fia Xal hope to avoid another disastrous first-round exit to qualifiers Larry and Haters in the first round; if they make it that far, they can meet up-and-coming Pemecutan team Komang Antari and Kadek Andreawati or serve-and-volleying newcomers Will Kolovor and Kell Korden of Ceni, who did so well against Levinsky and Gredello in New Oxford. Kika and Neia Dovan hope to recapture the form that saw them to last year's Cenian Open quarterfinals, while Ellela Thotan and Ciache Nagya, seeded ninth, hope to end the reign of Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky. The Rianor brothers, as well as Coosal Darlcheri and Gyrachor Rentos, also hope to continue their good form that brought them to the finals in New Oxford. The Rianors have recently enjoyed good performances at Grand Slams, while Darlcheri and Rentos defeated Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky at the Cenian Open.

In the lead-up to the tournament, world number one and recently crowned New Oxford Masters champion Ardil Navsal cemented his number one status as eighth seed Dewa Putu Adrian Putra of Pemecutan defeated fellow Cenian Elaine Foyner in the semifinals of New Oxford. This continues the breakthrough of the Pemecutan player, who entered the top 10 for the first time and is on course to win the eighth spot to the World Tour Finals in November. He's had a breakthrough season so far, reaching the semifinals of the Cenian Open and now the finals in New Oxford. Meanwhile, Ardil Navsal is resurgent after being in the shadow of Elaine Foyner for a good part of the year. Shock losses in Electrum led to Navsal overtaking Foyner in the rankings, with Navsal preserving the lead by taking home the trophy in New Oxford, only his second Masters title (after Cenial this year); Foyner was in contention for the spot had she reached the final.

With only four tournaments remaining before the World Tour Finals, players just inside the first eight hope for good results at the TOCAO tournament. Malcolm Press, Electrum Slam semifinalist, is only 500 points out from the top 8 in Finals contention, while Cenian Ciache Nagya is only 200 points behind him. Other players looking for a leapfrog into the top eight include Ngurah Putra Muliawan of Pemecutan, Carmichael Brown of Electrum, and Paul Quiront and Marla Gerard of Neu Engollon. In the doubles, the eighth spot is still in contention as well, with the Cassington sisters of Electrum six hundred points short. Thotan and Nagya and Levitt and Smith follow; Nolovor and Korden hope to leapfrog from momentum this season into a finals berth next season.

ATP CEO Oris Andron believes that the TOCAO Grand Slam will attract new nations to the international tennis scene. "With Krytenia being one of the most respected countries within the sporting world, I hope that this Grand Slam here in Emberton will mark a new era in the ATP." Andron also said that the ATP would be releasing its preliminary 2016 schedule soon, with the clay courts of Astyria to host the first tournaments of the year.

Excitement abounds in Emberton with the ATP's top players, and you can buy your tickets now for the second week of competition.

TOCAO: More obstacles to come for players

29 September 2015

Today may have been a great day for many of our Penguinish tennis players at TOCAO Qualifiers in Krytenia, but now the real challenges lie ahead as 5 singles players and 3 doubles teams prepare for Round 1. Many will have to face some of the world's top ranked players tomorrow, as they all look to progress to Round 2.

Though today saw mixed results, with 6 of the delegation failing to qualify in the singles section, it was an improvement over the New Oxford Masters qualifiers from earlier this month. Nina Totem's efforts were rewarded as she secured a 7-5 7-6 3-6 6-3 win over Krytenia's Amanda Hervand. For Harkman, his opponent proved to be tough. After winning the first two sets 6-3 7-5, Reospa Invulcis fought back to win the following sets 6-7 1-6. But ultimately Leo came out on top, dominating Invulcis 6-2 in the final set. Newcomers Renee Weber and William Sutton made great debuts to their international tennis careers. Weber won 6-1 5-6 3-6 5-7 against James Williams, while Sutton knocked his opponent out in 3 sets, winning 1-6 4-6 4-6. They will join wild-carded Luis Vincent-Durand in the First Round. Meanwhile in the doubles section, two of the three Penguinish teams enjoyed a match-free day, having received wildcard entries. The remaining team, consisting of Katrina Baker and Terry Wakefield, had to fight for their spot. It was a long and tiring match against Cosumar's Casterlan Hood and Catalina Vallejos, but the pair won 4-6 4-6 6-3 6-4 5-7. The victory was bittersweet, as both had lost their respective singles qualifiers.

While half of our delegation were celebrating their victories, their other half were sent packing for home. It appeared to be deja vu for Colombia, Reynolds and York, who failed to qualify at the New Oxford Masters earlier this month, losing again in their matches today. Katrina Baker's singles debut finished with a disappointing 3-set loss against Knudt Silksberg. Amelia Nunez was sadly no match for Noelle Dennis, also losing in 3 sets. Wakefield put up a long fight against Ben Moore, but fell in the 5th and final set 6-3.

But for those who succeeded in climbing the qualifying hill, the First Round mountain now poses a larger challenge. Sutton and Weber will need to follow up their debuts with victories over Gine Jeorge and no. 29 ranked player Patrick Park (respectively) in order to progress, while Totem is up against no. 23 ranked Samuel Gates of Electrum. Leo Harkman faces Cathy Crespo, ranked 31st, and Luis Vincent-Durand will play Arthur Huxley. Ceni's Ellela Thotan and Ciache Nagya, ranked no. 9, will be a tough opponent for Sara Strauss and Jane Goodlock. Katrina Baker and Terry Wakefield have a serious challenge tomorrow, as they face no. 15 ranked team Fradina Johnson and Isabella Lipez. Hathaway and Klempt will face Frieta Storm and Lakita Chrisp as well.

THE NEW YEAR ARISES. All Britonish Players through to First Round!

AREA: Emberton, Krytenia
With Hollande Fullingbloom.

Today in the great city of Emberton, we witnessed the start of the juicy Grand Slam tournament; and I can confirm that there has been a sense of Olympic fever in the air, as qualifiers fight to reach the most important part of the tournament; (well, the second most important after the finals) The First Round. When I think "First Round" I think half of the pack falling at one. Well yes, that is so. That is what happens. But, we will speak about the first round in more detail tomorrow. The Qualifying round saw Alvon Quiken, the only Britonish who failed to automatically qualify, win his match, and therefore joining the group to see whether he can make it far down the line. We also saw the doubles going quite far, eventhough they made our hearts come out of our mouths. Is that the saying? I am not sure, too busy watching tennis. Yesterday, we spoke about how The Month Championships started and how Britonisea were the best at tennis, and yes, I understand I was a bit large-headed but we need to be more large-headed to succeed in life. Correct? We spoke about how Irina Muk-something-stova rivaled against Lacey Turner, and Lacey getting her payback in the Novermber Finals, and we also spoke about San Jose and Britonisea at the top of the league. Ladies and Gentlemen, if you fear Britonisea not being the best, I suggest you look away now. This could get really ugly.

As soon as The great November Championships close, The Kannapian starts in January. We hadn't even been given time to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas. Glued to the television, The Second Kannapian International Tennis Open started off with the qualifying stages. Great. Something that would spring tennis in to life and give it a bit a shebang. The amount of nations participating and the amount of players participating were on a rapid increase. Looking at previous sheets, Alex Gachuk vs. Ricardo Toli, Jamie Morgan vs. Lance Mance, Giroud Francois vs. Peter P Larry, and all matches were won, this meant that these all followed the rest to the main draws. We also noticed that Ricardo Toli has made the transition over to Britonisea then; a great thing to do which started a great and still raging career. All, but Ricardo, won their First Round match meaning Lance and Peter were placed 4th and 10th position overall respectively. In the second round, Lance qualified through as Peter P Larry fell at the "second hurdle". Lance Mance was pushed down to sixth place; he then faced Ardil Navsal of Ceni. Ardil won and Britonisea were booted out of the tournament. Al Montis de Surmar won that tournament. Even though he is not around now, he turned out to be tennis' main rival though best tennis player.

Next, Antillia Masters Tennis Open, hosted by Costa de Ouro, another nation who would grow to do very well in the tennis scene. Peter P Larry and Dunkun Newman were at their peak as they won their matches. Lance Mance fell at the first hurdle. It was tough upset for the Britonish as we were unsure who our tennis poster-person would be. Lance was beaten by Shaheer Chaudary of Patistan in straight sets. This was Shaheer's revenge as Lance beat him easily in the November Championships. In a conference by Britannual, he stated, "I am happy to be here. Shaheer played a better match. He is very kind..." though tensions were obviously heating up. In the second day, Ricardo Toli won his match in straight sets and he was excited to see what was going to happen next for him. Dunkun and Peter had a very hard second round. Very hard. They had to go to 4 and 5 sets respectively, and both players were lethargic after their matches as Ricardo fell here. In the next round, Dunkun got kicked out by Estope's Bishop Lou Kelly, though Peter P Larry stayed afloat. Peter was blown away by the amazing Al Montis Sumar by Anditia. He was simply unbeatable. In a press conference in Anditia, he stated, "Its always great to play someone who challenges me. Peter played well, I think I was just on today, I felt good out there. You know, my serves just happened to go where I wanted them to.". Al Montis then went on to win the tournament.

The Lzher-Jeckland Invitational was a great contest. Known in Britonisea as the "January Open", after a scandal with the Months Championships Board, Lzherusskia and Jeckland were named hosts of the great contest. This was much bigger than Antilla Masters Tennis Open, and was the first contest which was both ATP and Month Championship Sanctioned. This was only one of two tournaments, and the penultimate Month Championship tournament. Lot's of Britonish people won the tournament at that time, however we are going to skip all of this information and go to the juicy bits of the tournament. In Group B of the Second Round, Peter P Larry defeated Ellie Fangol, Ardil Navsal of Ceni defeated Al Montis, while Ricardo beat Lance. Very interesting and surprising results. There was doubt for Ricardo as people though he won't be able to withstand, and with Lance out of the way, Britonisea won't have a great chance. There was a tease however, this was only the group stages, not the knockout. Peter P Larry versed Ardil in the Quarter Finals, the first Britonish Quarters since the November Open, nearly three months before this date. Ardil beat Peter in straight sets. Ardil then won his first Grand Slam. Something that would spur him along. "CRUD!" was the response from Al Montis, we would just have to work harder next time.

We head back to Kannap for, and don't cry, the final Month Championship! 128 athletes crammed inside Kannap who hosted in full delight and glory. Skipping the Round of 16, Abi and Lance went through to the quarter finals while Peter perished and got beaten. In the Quarters, none of the Britonish Players were close to win, to be honest. Brianna Powell of Kannap ended up winning in her own country and the last set was to her at 16-14, against Al Montis. Such an inspiring match. We can't go without mentioning the Doubles. Do you remember in the September Championships? Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles won? Something similar was recreated. Lance Mance/Elizabeth Quehall beat Al Montis de Surmar/Gulagga Grappo in five sets while eter P Larry/Lacey Turner beat Mosca Massimo/Colomba Von Freytag in straight forcing the two Britonish to play against each other in the finals. Britonish vs Britonish; a Britonish was to win the contest since November. Lance Mance/Elizabeth Quehall lost to Peter P Larry/Lacey Turner (4-6, 5-7, 4-6). Al Montis de Surmar/Gulagga Grappo lost to their rivals too. Such a shame. The sun sets on the Months Championships, will it rise again?

Nikolai Sokolova (RTM) 6 5 6 4 1
Alvon Quiken (BRI) 4 7 3 6 6

This five setter was Alvon trying to be the best, trying to show of his ability. It was a game of round and round until Nikolai got bored of it. Nikolai won the first set which caused a few boos within the crowd of Krytenia. Thanks Krytenia for great support, we love you! Alvon won the second though Nikolai won the third. Alvon winning the forth, he had enough power to win the fifth 6-1. Amazing result for Alvon however he verses Lance Mance in the first round. It is almost certain that Lance Mance will win, but only time will tell.

Master Larry / Lucky Hater (BRI) 7 6 6
Sebastien Durand / Francois Navarre (KRY) 6 1 3

Master Larry and Lucky Haters played against a Krytenian Pair. It wasn't that exciting of a match, however, the support for Britonisea - here- was pretty bleak. The first match was great. 7-6, we though we would be in store for a great tiebreaker of a match, however the standard was dropped with Larry-Haters beat the Krytenian pair 6-1, sadly. 6-3 came following, though Krytenia couldn't do enough to beat Master Larry, who is Peter's son, and Lucky Haters. What's more sad is that they have to play seeded number ones next match. Can you guess what nation they're from?

Yahab Qwbalp / Zrtan Qasdfgit (SPA) 3 4 7 2
Tzar Hollingfield / Samantha Quehall (BRI) 6 6 5 6

Tzar and Samantha Quehall (A sister of Elizabeth) beat this pair in a near easy match. It seems as though Tzar and Samantha kept their level of play up. Britonisea showed their maturity today. We think that they'll keep this up but this match is self explanatory.

Jason Gordon / Peter P Larry (BRI) 0 6 6 6
Wasamosalan Gtarijklmensoqeriamianeol / Patruc (SPA) 6 4 4 3

For the country with the SPA Trigramme, they thought that they are going to get revenge in this match when peter and Jason didn't even get a game in the first set. However, this was later disputed, as Jason and Peter came back with a vengance to beat the SPA pair 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Congrats to Jason and Gordon and we hope to see them next round doing well.

Rushmore's iron grip on the Slams will be loosed today as the first TOCAO tournament hits the blocks. Day One Preview - Krytenians in action

STUART RILEY v Ngurah Putra Muliawan (11, Permecutan)
Stuart Riley, 22, could be a name to be reckoned with in the future. Sadly, the first TOCAO will be a little too soon for him as he takes on the eleventh seed. Muliawan should be looking good for at least a last sixteen place, and will beat the Krytenian in straight sets.

ANDREW BAUMGARTNER v Jose Wong (Albaie)
Baumgartner is Krytenia's number three, and his mission is to do better than Jess Moreaux. Beating a qualifier in round one is job one.

BRIAN VAN VOSSEN v Samantha Howell (Kannap)
Howell is one of the better unseeded players. Sorry, Brian.

JESSICA MOREAUX v Martin Smiley (Frenline Delpha)
The eighteen-year-old is really coming into her game, and Smiley should be the first of at least one victim of the teenager's skills.

SIMMONS/WALSH v Rianor/Rianor (3, Ceni)
You know what? It's home turf. It's fourteen thousand Krytenians against two Cenians. I fancy a shock in the opener on Olympus Court.

METAGNE/CORBISIERI v McKenzie/Sidwell (Grand Angland)
Could we have both Krytenian pairs in Round Two? We certainly might. Jeremy and Liz might be the weaker pair of the two playing today, but their opponents are there for the taking.

Day 1 Result: 4 to Round 2
Emberton, Krytenia

From 5 matches of Pemecutanian players in the first day of TOCAO Grand Slam, only 4 of them gets ticket to the Second Round. Indah Susanti is the only player who lost yesterday.

Ayu Ratih Kemalasari met Slautoa Ghanujialor of Spartaned. Kemalasari begins the match with high confidence and able to control every move. The first set end with Kemalasari victory of 6-2. Ghanujialor didn't back down and rise up in the second set. He able to balance Kemalasari performance and even force 5-5 deuce. But Kemalasari remain calm and able to break Ghanujialor surprise shot. She eventually win by 7-5. In the third set, Kemalasari and Ghanujialor showed a great performance and win a games one after another. Ghanujialor lead the way by 5-4 and Kemalasari tried to force 5-5 deuce in the 10th game. But her attempt backfire after she lost a tremendous rally that give Ghanujialor the victory. The situation turn upside down in the forth set. Kemalasari showed her best performance and didn't give Ghanujialor a room to improve his play. Although Ghanujialor able to difficult her a few times, but Kemalasari emerge as the winner.

Also in Section A, (11) Ngurah Putra Muliawan played against host player, Stuart Riley. Muliawan was shocked in the first set with great performance by Riley that makes him surrender by 3-6. In the second set, Muliawan makes up his mistake and pursue the victory through a tight 5-5 deuce which he eventually win by 7-5. Riley gets hard time in the third set where Muliawan outplayed him. Although Riley able to steal some games but Muliawan eventually win by 6-3. Riley try to rise up in the forth game. He equalize Muliawan by 2-2 in the 4th game and again in the 8th game by 4-4. But Riley unable to keep up in the 10th game which gave Muliawan the victory point.

A shocking result coming in Section B. Oka Sulastra surprisingly defeated 6th seed, Botack Andiam of Ceni in a tight 4 sets match. Sulastra surprise Andiam in the first set with his fast shot and rigid play which makes Sulastra win by 6-3. Andiam try to pursue a victory in the second set but Sulastra halt his attempt a few times. Sulastra force 5-5 deuce in the 10th game and force 6-6 tie-break in 12th game. But Andiam able to win the tie-break with 7-4 to secure the second set for him. The situation were duplicate in the third set but unfortunately for Andiam, it was Sulastra time to win the tie-break with 8-6 to grab the third set. Already in high confidence, Sulastra continue to makes surprise. He press Andiam until he unable to play right. Sulastra eventually win the set by 6-1 and advance to Second Round.

On the other hand, (24) Maria Sophia Lubis play a hard 5 sets match against Ben Moore of Albaie. Moore difficult Lubis in the first set. Lubis has to play hard in order to force 5-5 deuce in the first before she lost it to Moore. But Lubis make a revenge in the second set outplayed Moore and crush him with 6-0. Moore didn't give up. He play calmly and able to win one game and a time to confused Lubis. Moore take the third set by 6-3 and lead the match. Lubis rise up in the forth game. Although Moore able to difficult her but a nice putting in 10th game secure the forth set for her. In the fifth set, Lubis lead fast by 3-0 before being catch up by Moore until 5-3 position for Lubis leading. Moore able to halt Lubis's victory in the 9th game but he failed to force 5-5 deuce and give the victory to Lubis.

A slight disappointment coming from Indah Susanti who met Livinia Moore of Electrum. Susanti lost easily in the first set by 1-6. She able to rise up in the second set and even force 5-5 deuce. But L.Moore eventually take the set by 7-5. Susanti seems to be out of focus in the third set. with only 3 winning games, she surrender to Livinia Moore.

In Section F, Kadek Adi Wiranatha will meet qualifier a newcomer, Bromislaw Toutant of Spartaned. While in Section G, (8) Dewa Putu Adrian Putra will facing Floyd Sarkozy of United States of Devonta. THE UNITIA CITY TIMES

TOCAO: 1 player, 1 team left in First Round - can they do it?

1 October 2015

Yesterday's First Round matches almost seemed a repeat of the New Oxford Masters, with Penguinish players falling one by one in their respective matches. It's been no easy task for them - for the singles players, many of them are ranked in the 200's (some unranked), and they are facing some of the best players in the world. Still, it isn't all over yet for the delegation: Leo Harkman and the doubles team Martin Hathaway & Cole Klempt are to play their matches today.

Nina Totem found herself facing no. 29 Samuel Gates of Electrum. She had fought hard, and managed to win the second set, but ultimately Gates played a superior performance, beating her 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-3. It seems that William Sutton had run out of steam by the second set in his match against Gina Jeorge. Sutton just lost the first set 5-7, but Jeorge seemed to easily overpower him 1-6 1-6 to finish the match in 3 sets. Luis Vincent-Durand and Renee Weber didn't go without a fight in their matches however, each falling at the 5th set. While Arthur Huxley nabbed the first set 5-7, Luis won the following sets 6-4 7-5; but Huxley proved to be too much for the young lad, finishing the game off 3-6 5-7. Like Nina Totem, Renee Weber had a tough opponent, who was no. 29 Patrick Park. Despite this, Weber did manage to win the first and third sets, but like with Vincent-Durand, she was overpowered. In the doubles section, Sara Strauss and Jane Goodlock lost their match against no. 9 ranked Ellela Thotan & Ciache Nagya. After winning the initial set 6-7, Thotan and Nagya won the three following sets 6-2 6-3 7-6 - though Strauss and Goodlock made the final set a difficult one to attain for the Ceni pair. Meanwhile the international newcomers Katrina Baker and Terry Wakefield had a poor start to their match against no. 15 ranked Fradina Johnson & Isabella Lopez, with the latter easily seizing the first two sets 6-3 6-1. The Penguinish pair came back into force however, taking the next sets 4-6 2-6. Unfortunately they too fell in their final set, losing 8-6.

So today the Penguinish fanbase will be turning their eyes to Leo Harkman, playing no. 31 Cathy Crespo, and Martin Hathaway & Cole Klempt, playing Frieta Storm & Lakita Chrisp. With the additional pressure from being the nation's final hope in this tournament, a lot will be on these players minds. And for a set of players so new to the international scene, the odds would be playing strongly out of their favour. However, maybe the miracle that the Penguinish football team narrowly missed out on at the Baptism of Fire will be handed to these players instead? Well, there's only one way to find out.

Electrum Lawn Tennis Association - News

Lewis Stephens congratulates Krytenian authorities on successful start to the Open and Day 1 Recap

The Association of Tennis Professionals roadshow continues throughout the multiverse as the TOCAO begins in Krytenia. Lewis Stephens, President of the Electrum Lawn Tennis Association praised the Krytenians for, "technical prowess and excellent efficiency." It has been smooth sailing so far, as the Krytenians have revived a past Electrumite tradition of allocating matches to courts the day before the competition, and the clear, albeit brief qualification. With the split draws for the next couple of days before a day off, and then days alternating doubles and singles will mean that players will have more time to rest -- meaning better quality and closer matches for the audience. For too long, Electrumite players, such as the Cassington sisters have complained about the consecutive days of competition whilst playing both singles and doubles. Even Lewis Stephens said that, "This type of schedule will be the kind of thing we will be trying to emulate in the Electrum Slam next year -- it's a great idea."

After the first day of competition, 2 Electrumites were already eliminated from a competition, with newbie Pearl Baumgartner crashing out against the very glutinous Pasteri Amasli in a tough four setter during the qualifications. Then, out of the four Electrumites in the singles draw playing today, it was a shock that second-ranked Electrumite and rising star Carmichael Brown's competition that was cut short, by a certain deity from The Sword Bloke, Shop Owner. After a slightly short run in the New Oxford Masters by Carmichael Brown, in the post-match interview he said that, "[Just didn't get] the preparation that I wanted, not being used to the grass." Despite his slightly dejected press conference, this loss is all part of the process -- Brown only played his first grass court tournament in the Masters just beforehand, and things are looking up for the twenty-year old youngster. He didn't give up the match without a fight either, losing the first and third sets by a single break. His normally pin-point accurate serving was just off the mark today, and his unforced error rate was a bit higher than usual as well, in the end it was only five total points that separated Shop Owner and Carmichael Brown. Shop Owner will go on to face journeyman Master Larry in the next round.

In the other matches of the day, Pelissa Giannapolous, who's only had a few appearances in the ATP this year will be vying for a spot on the roster with a stunning victory over 32nd seed Leo Garry from Britonisea in a clinical effort. Giannapolous, known for her aggression and speed is known for going up to the nets for quick and (some would say) cheap points. 23rd seed Samuel Gates similarly defeated Nina Totem in four sets, dropping only the second, and in another surprising upset, Livinia Moore defeated Pemecutan's Indah Susanti in a three setter. Moore, another one of those newbies is also trying to make her mark on the points and trying to nab those top eight qualification spots from Maya Cassington and Greg Meares. It was a breeze all throughout, with Susanti only really challenging in the second (5-7) by just holding her serve, not making any impression at all on the Moore serve.

Onto the doubles and the Electrumites continued their traditional dominance winning all four of their matches. Carmichael Brown and Hunter Roberts teamed up to dispatch Crapes/Crikus in five sets, in what would have been a haunting day for Brown -- having the potential to lose two matches on the one day both in five sets (luckily that didn't happen). In that same section, eighth seeders Joan Levitt and Deanne Smith defeated Britoniseans Peter P Larry and Jason Gordon in another clinical three sets, dropping eight games in the process. It's a stunning turnaround from Joan Levitt who after announcing her retirement in the Hamilton International, went on to drop her singles and focus entirely on the doubles, following the path of Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky (though surprisingly Smith still plays singles). In the process, they rose up the rankings to be one of the top teams in the competition. What was their reward for winning their match? A second round match up with Brown and Roberts, an all-Electrum second round. The Electrumites will be in full force, and it will be a match to watch, who will win? The two upstarts known for their big hits, or Levitt and Smith, who are fast, have quick hands, and can take advantage of the springy, bouncier surface of grass? Only time will tell.

In Section A, former World No. #1s, Olympic Champions and Grand Slam champions Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky defeated the Devontan pair Mandy Miller and Tara Chris. Finally, Leanne Stewart and Anthony Kawasaki defeated Mallapragada/Toprac, cementing a spot in the second round, also winning in three sets. The two of them, having only competed in both the grand slams, both on wildcards after they won the amateur mixed doubles competition to get a spot into the doubles in the Electrum Slam (OOC: Similar to this), they seem all but assured of a spot in the Electrum Olympic team for the mixed doubles competition, being the only mixed pair in the squad.

Speaking of the Olympics, the Electrum Lawn Tennis Association announced that the players will be selected based on the rankings, with the top players/pairs of each gender filling up the quota spots, subject to changes including choosing squads with the most amount of athletes so that everyone is participating. So far the rankings indicate that the players competing in each tournament are:

Men's Singles - Malcolm Press, Carmichael Brown, Samuel Gates, Hunter Roberts
Women's Singles - Mia Cassington, Deanne Smith, Maya Cassington, Pelissa Giannapolous
Men's Doubles - Samuel Gates/Greg Meares and Hunter Roberts/Carmichael Brown
Women's Doubles - Sonya Gredello/Rosa Levinsky (defending champions) and Joan Levitt/Deanne Smith (The sisters who are higher ranked are instead doing the singles)
Mixed Doubles - Leanne Stewart/Anthony Kawasaki and a possible combination of Andrew Simmons/Livinia Moore

"It's a horrible feeling," remarked Elia Xal.

"What's a horrible feeling?" asked Fia Xal.

"To lose early to a team ranked a hundred places lower than you, a team who won't even make it past the next round, to a team who just catches on fire, and just as quickly, becomes ash. You know this."

"Sister, it's tough to lose but we have to move on! This slam is proving the nemesis of a lot of seeded players and teams, and whining on it will only make it worse!"

"Well, what do you suggest that we do, Fia? What do you suggest that we do to lose ourselves of this curse?"

"I think we should try and be more aggressive in our match tomorrow, we should hit the volleys hard and head into the net on serve. But the mental game is more important, I think. If we think that we're going to lose, if we think we're going to hit a lot of errors, those things are going to happen!"

"True sister, but think of the Irani/Travers match! Think of the Lord/Cicero match! We weren't making a lot of errors then, and we thought that we were going to win!"

"Yes, Elia, but remember the Laggoe/El Arabia match! After we made one error, we started to doubt ourselves, we started to hit a lot more errors. The trick is to be confident and don't let them get into our heads. If we're not playing our best, we're the ones who lose, and we'll only be hurting ourselves."

"Oh Fia, what are we going to do? Larry and Haters are going to get so lucky, and every single Cenian is going to lose their match today! We are cursed!

"Do not think that way!" Fia snapped, "Do not think that way! The upset could happen - but it won't! We'll dismiss them handily! Right now I think we need to purge all of our negative emotions in this matter and just play the best tennis that we can, without worrying about the other team that much! We need a catharsis!"

Elia sighed.

Fia sighed.

"It's time to stop fretting. We have this under our control, we can defeat anyone we choose," Fia continued. "Just take a few deep breaths and let the emotions flow out of you with each breath."

Fia breathed in and out slowly. Elia followed suit. "In... and out. In... and out. In... and out."

And they breathed slowly, in and out, venting out their desires and their fears.

After a couple minutes of this, Fia asked, "Ready to do some yoga?"

Elia replied, "Why?"

"Not only will it help stretch our muscles for the match, but it will also help us to clear our minds of our difficulties because we're thinking of yoga poses."

"Let's do it. Anything to forget this insecurity... Oh, Fia, did I tell you that I loved you?"

"No, but you don't need to. We're sisters. Sisters do everything together, and we can win this Grand Slam together."

"Sisters do everything together," Elia murmured quietly. "Sisters do everything together."

Gone are the days when one
Could live a carefree life - unworried
About troubles, unworried
About things that they cannot control -
Gone are the days when one
Could live a life of comfort and relaxation
Without the pain of suffering,
Without the pain of an army of troubles advancing
Onward! Onward advance the army of troubles,
Onward to your heart!

The army of worries advance on the battlefield,
Met by your army of hope -
Your army of dreams -
Your army of fortitude that can
Only march forward into battle against that advancing army
If you give it the weapons it needs
To defeat those crushing expectations,
If you give it the soldiers it needs
To defeat those gloomy guards of success -
The army of hope can only advance
When you advance with it.

Onward marches the army of troubles,
It marches onward! Onward!
Yet the army of dreams and hopes has
Stayed stock still - descending in to a rabble of roustabouts
Urge them onward! Send them onward!
Onward, army of dreams! Onward!
Onward, army of hope! Onward!
Defeat the division of doom!

March onward! March!
March magnificently, do not flag
and wallow in your despair!
March onward! Tackle the army of troubles
with aplomb!
March onward! Meet that craven army seeking
To use your own emotions against you -
Meet that craven army of fear and despair,
Meet that craven army of troubles -
Do not let them abscond with your hopes or dreams!

Onward march the opposite armies -
Onward they march, ready to make battle
In the battlefield of your heart
Do not let the army of troubles win and tear you to pieces -
Do not let them divide you and conquer!
Resist! Resist! Resist, armies of the light!
Resist and take the battlefield -
Fill the battlefield with hopes and dreams
and give that enemy
No resting place!

THE UNITIA CITY TIMES

TOCAO Quick Summary: Yes they did do it - now they're through to Round Two

2 October 2015

Well it looks like the miracle that the Penguinish players were hoping for decided to turn up yesterday. After Wednesday knocked out all but 1 singles player and a doubles team, it was looking rather bleak for the Penguinish delegation. In spite of the odds, all players were successful in their efforts and will go on to play in the Second Round.

The second half of the singles section played their First Round matches yesterday, including Leo Harkman. He was up against no. 31 Cathy Crespo of the United States of Devonta, and despite being a considerably higher ranked opponent than him, Harkman dominated Crespo. The match was won in 3 sets, 4-6 2-6 4-6. On Saturday Harkman will be up against Mattas Hasantos. Meanwhile in the doubles section, Martin Hathaway and Cole Klempt faced Frieta Storm and Lakita Chrisp. The match was not as easy to conquer as Harkman's was, having to play 5 sets to win the match. Hathaway and Klempt secured the first set 7-5, before losing pace, allowing Storm and Chrisp to take the next two sets 3-6 5-7. However the Penguinish pair soon caught up to the chase and took the final two sets 6-4 6-3, and the match overall. They will now face Pemecutan's no. 13 ranked Ilham Nugraha and Jayadi Ahmad in Section D of the Round Two Draw.

It was a brilliant performance for the Penguinish players yesterday, but there is still a long way to go in this tournament. It will be a matter of whether they continue that performance on Saturday which will see whether they will progress to the 3rd Round.

ATP World Tour - News
Where kings no longer reign

EMBERTON, Krytenia - Elaine Foyner, Botack Andiam, and Ciache Nagya all befell a tough opening round for Cenian seeds as none of them was able to progress to the second round of the last grass court slam of the year. Meanwhile, New Oxford masters finalists Coosal Darlcheri and Gyrachor Rentos and the Rianor brothers Perger and Ricpeer both fell to unseeded duos to round out a disappointing round considering all of the expectations put on Cenian tennis players by their ravenous fandom and tennis aficionados. Much of the good news, in turn, was overlooked in Krytenia as Johmer Vales, Dioro Hansil, Andy Amada, and Kika Dovan advanced comfortably and Lonus Varalin barely survived a fifth-set scare.

Foyner, being one of the older players on the tour at 35, has given intimations that she might retire in the waning days of the season, and her sluggishness showed during the first two sets of the match against Ruben Munoz of Albaie. After the first set, she called the medical trainer to work on some cramps, and looked in a little bit of pain as she continued to play in the second set. She didn't move to get a lot of balls she normally gets, her serve was far less accurate than normal, and she was not hitting a lot of winners. Munoz, on the other hand, was lively and sprightly, and took advantage of Foyner's weariness. In the third and beginning of the fourth set, Foyner found some of the form that had taken her to the Electrum Slam and led 4-1 in the fourth before going down 7-5, an easy forehand into the net the proximate cause of the turnaround. "Unfortunately, as I'm getting older, my quality of play is getting lower," Foyner told the ATP. "I'm thinking of retiring soon and matches like these - in which I'm unable to compete fully at my best - show me some sides of why I should retire. However, I love this game, so I'll have to wait and see."

Andiam, too, had his problems with injury, although the 26-year-old didn't face the same ones as Foyner. He apparently stubbed his toe during the walk to the court after losing his balance and immediately called over the medical trainer to take a look at the toe when he got to court, seeing that it was bleeding and causing him a lot of pain. The trainer, fortunately, told him that the injury was mostly superficial and would heal, but he did feel a lot of pain during the match and had some trouble running around in the match. Sulastra, like Munoz, took the opportunity and ran with it, dictating play and taking advantage of Andiam's painful toe. The match was tight at points, but Andiam sometimes writhed in pain with his toe and could barely walk at some points. It was a surprise Andiam didn't retire at risk of injuring himself further. Andiam expressed to the ATP, "It's unfortunate that I had to stub my toe coming here to play today. I feel like I let a lot of my fans down, and for that, I apologize. However I did want to continue my match, at some points I didn't want to, I was in a lot of pain."

Nagya - meanwhile - did not suffer from the same problems of injuries or cramps like Foyner and Andiam, but suffered from her own sloppy play. Although she did tend to go for the line and hit some brilliant winners, her aggressive style of play led to a lot of errors - often when she overhit the ball, sent a little too much power on it, sending it wide, or beaned it into the net. Her coach when she was fourteen could have had a field day with her - Nagya did not display very much form or footwork. Although at times she did show why she is ranked number fourteen in the world and Tyrus Unpronounceable Name from Spartaned hit his fair share of unforced errors, it's fair to say that Nagya's sloppy play at crucial times cost her the match. "It's a shame that I couldn't hold my game together when it came to important points. However, I'm glad that I was able to put together a good performance with Ellela [Thotan] so I can stay in this wonderful city," Nagya told the ATP. "I just hope that Ellela and I can stay here a little longer!"

A New Dawn, A Cenian Twilight?

As the eyes of the tennis world fall upon the capital, it would perhaps be unfair to say "Krytenia expects". "Hopes" would probably be a better word, with any notions of expectation falling squarely upon the broad shoulders of Emberton native Stephen Perez. If those expectations are weighing him down, though, he certainly didn't show it as he took care of Devonta's Brandon Yon in double-quick time. Perez' game lends itself well to faster courts - it's probably for the best that thus far he's not competed in any clay court tournaments - and Yon had few answers to the inquisition that was the Perez serve. Three sets of vastly similar momentum led to three sets of exactly the same score, and that was the eighteenth seed's path to round two confirmed.

Krytenia's numbers two and three will also be present in that draw, though both dropped a set against lower-ranked opposition. Andrew Baumgartner's reward for beating Jose Wong is a trip to Celesta Court; a shock defeat for sixth seed Botack Andiam, though, means his trip to the last thirty-two just got a whole lot more interesting. Jessica Moreaux, meanwhile, will face potential dark horse Samuel Gates after the teenager dispatched her Frenline opponent.

The biggest story, though, was reserved for the doubles. Owen Simmons and Perry Walsh, though they are Krytenia's top pair, aren't exactly considered international class. Tell that, though, to the Rianors. The Cenians came into the tournament as third seeds; they left it almost as soon as they entered, as the Krytenians, despite losing a two-set lead, held their nerve in a tense deciding set to advance.

One thing that the inaugual TOCAO tournament has taught us so far, though, is to expect the unexpected when you come to Krytenia. The nation's football team are a testament to that, after all. It rings just as true when the ball is smaller and yellow, too; of the 48 seeds in the competition, fourteen have failed to make it past the first hurdle. It seems to have been especially harsh on the sport's number one nation, Ceni; one feels that Stephen Perez may be seen as Satan incarnate when the Cenian Open rolls round.

Words of the Day: Quiet Please. The Krytenians have taken the tournament to heart, which can only be good for the sport; unfortunately, they're a little...boisterous. Especially when it's a Krytie on court. They'll learn. Eventually.
