Nation: Somewhereistonia 'B'
Team Nickname: Eagles
Style Modifier: +3
Formation: 4-1-3-2
Home stadium: Spektakl-3-Arena
Kit:

Image1st Kit Image2nd Kit Image3rd Kit

Manager: Sir George Douglas (That crazy guy from Dariusville, you know, pink ponies? Yer HIM.)
Assistant Manager: Benjamin Oliveira (Continues to coach A.F.F. of Cafundeu despite his new position. A top quality manager).
Head Physio: Gustav Tolving (Owner of a sports physio centre outside Qasarian, he has shown a brilliant ability to bring players back from injury sooner than expected).

With the first team rested following their Copa Rushmori victory, manager George Douglas is able to try out a few fringe players in preparation for World Cup qualification.

Team roster.

First 11

1. Karela Hanaterisana, 26 [GK]. A former Norwellian, being non-genderqueer he was subject to some abuse in his home country, since his move to Somewhereistonia at the age of 17, he has enjoyed high levels of success at Ventspils Redwings and after gaining citizenship has finally won selection to the national squad.
2. Dimitri Zaks, 16 [FB]. A solid defender for Kabano Zeppelin, Zaks has shown his ability to perform at the top level, despite only having played one season in the Meistrliiga.
3. Jurgis Ģipslis, 32 FB [Radyukevich]. After leaving Vetra Karrakiv for Radyukevich of Candelaria And Marquez, the sturdy full-back has struggled to make a name for himself, and looks to be on the move again in the near future. The now retired international will captain the inexperienced side in this tournament.
4. August Vanka, 20 [CB]. [Ventspils Bluewings]. An up and coming talent, thought to be a long term replacement for Grinius. He still shows his inexperience at times and is a bit of a surprise selection.
5. Jüri Pihl CB 24 [Qasarian Sparta] - Pihl is expected to work well with his club team mate Hellat at the back in league games, there are still some frailties in the pairing, and Pihl is yet to establish his national team career.
6. Toomas Uexküll, 28 DMF [Ventspils Redwings]. A sturdy holding player for the redwings, he has played a large part in Ventspils recent successes. A successful Di Bradini Cup has helped him win a place in the world cup squad.
8. Justinas Kaiser, 28 [MF]. [Olympia Gladiators (NEW)] - Kaiser has had mixed success in his career, until his move away to Newmanistan he was on the fringes of the national squad, now with Keres having retired, he has a place.
7. Lembit Sacharias SMF 28 [Qasarian Sparta]. Good solid midfielder, just not really good enough for a first team slot.
11. Ąžuolas Antanas, 25 [Wing]. The ISC Rig captain was a late addition to the squad. Following the club's convincing promotion to the Meistrliiga he has begun to be scouted by many top sides in the division. Although he may only get limited appearances, his addition to the squad will give Somewhereistonia and extra threat of the bench. Something that Alekna did not quite seem to have.
10. Vytautas Aavik, Fwd 20 [Atlético Insular (CAF)]. The young talent has been on the wings of the national team for a few years, this tournament may be his chance to impress.
9. Arak Nokk, 23 [Fwd]. The Valodiscow Resistance forward is expected to become a solid performer off the bench for the Eagles. Expect a few substitute goals from this guy.

Reserves/Substitutes

14. Vytautas Altosaar CF 22 [Somewhere is Nethertopia]
12. Boris Veetäse GK 24 [Oaków Lightening]
16. Klosov Marilas MF 31 [Farlandh United (Weegies)]
13. Karl Nurkse MF 24 [12 de noviembre (AGU)]
17. Jaspers Kahn FB 20 [Metalurgs]
18. Alanik Belmovski Fwd 25 [Tammeka Kuressaare]
15. Ov Mäeltsemees Def 22 [Dinamo Karrakiv]
19. Raavo Kaps AMF 22 [Volodiscow Resistance]
20. Tulak Vilosius SMF 26 [Qasarian Sparta]
21. Alanik Štālbergs CB 24 [Metalurgs]
22. Juhan Kivirähk CB 26 [Ventspils Redwings]
23. Oleksandr Küüta GK 28 [Metalurgs]

If my opponent RP's first they can:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Hand out Yellow cards to my players: Yes (only up to 3 a match)
Hand out Red cards to my players: Yes (no more than 1)
Godmod Other Events: Ask first

<Beddgelert> if that were true, i'd never have woken up with pockets full of ketchup

Osarius Squad for the Ebyria Regional Cup

Manager: Benedict di Corradi
Assistant Manager: Giorgio Cassetti

Modifier: +2

As always, the Osarians are almost hopelessly committed to attacking. A few players are given an opportunity to earn their first caps for The Firebirds, as Benedict di Corradi searches to find the team that can bring glory to Osarius.

Notable omissions include Mariana, Carter, Mooney, Deery and St Ledger, who have all featured heavily in the national squad recently.

This is some information about Balida, the stadiums being used, and housing for the teams involved.

Map of Balida
Image

The Capital of Balida is Balida City.

Stadiums
Balida has chosen these stadiums to host the games for the Ebyria Regional Cup. They are selected due to their populatiry and most are home to a BFL team.

Image
Custard Lexicon Stadium
City: Cape Faith
Details: The Custard Lexicon Stadium has just been completed. The games in the Ebyria Regional Cup will be the first games to ever be played on these grounds. The stadium features a retractable roof so weather doesn't effect games played here.
Club Team: Custard Lexicon AFC
Capacity: 72,000

Image
West Narlon Stadium
City: Coveton
Details: West Narlon Stadium is home to the Coveton Dolphins and can hold up to 26,000 fans. The new structure has a waterfront park and plaza used not only for stadium entry, but also for city sponsored events such as festivals. The plaza will have eight 20 ft. MaxiTrons placed outside the stadium for non-paying fans to view the games inside and also to view games at other stadiums.
Club Team: Coveton Dolhins (Balida Cup 10 Champions)
Capacity: 26,000

Image
John Badeda Stadium
City: Balida City
Details: Once home to the Balida National Team, John Badeda Stadium is a bit outdated. The once retractable roof no longer works and the owners said there will be not further repairs done to the stadium. That said, it seems these could be John Badeda Stadium's last few games.
Club Team: Balida City Stars
Capacity: 72,000

Image
Mil State University
City: Agana
Details: The college level field is the best one in the north. Yes, we called it a field on purpose. The grounds are often soaked due to heavy rainfall in Mil, and the seating is very limited. Any games played here will remind your players of their high school days.
Club Team: Mil Rovers
Capacity: 500

Image
Star Stadium
City: Balida City
Details: Star Stadium has been built on the outskirts of Balida City and has been finished just in time for the Balida Cup Final. The stadium took two years to build and over 10,000,000 bills to pay for it. It has 98,000 seats and enough standing room for a total of 99,500 fans to cram into the stadium. The stadium is the most high-tech stadium in Balida, and will be home to the Ebyria Regional Cup final.
Club Team: None... Home to Balida National Futball Team
Capacity: 99,500

STADIUMS

Olympiastadion, Berlin

Image

Capacity: 74,500

The current Olympiastadion was originally built in 1995 to host The Sific Games in 2000. The biggest stadium in Burchadinger before that was the 68,000 seater Lepiez Gormann Stadium and the regional officials found it unsuitable. Now, it is the home of Berlin FC.

National Stadium, Bucharest

Image

Capacity: 63,500

Bucharest may be the Capital City of Burchadinger and what not, but it only has the third largest capacity in the whole nation. Its well known for hosting the annual National Triathlon, and most notably, it is the home stadium of 5 time Super League Champions Star Bucharest.

Kyrotne Stadium, Rakvere

Image

Capacity: 60,000

Kyrotne was designed and built at around the same time Goberschit was. Both were built for the same purpose, Rugby, and both were nearly ruined after the abolishing of the National Rugby League and only survived due to government intervention. Rakvere has 2 football teams, SG Rakvere from the Super League, and 2000 Rakvere from League 1. Both use Kyrotne as their home.

Salasce Stadium, Seirmare

Image

Capacity: 57,000

Salasce Stadium was designed in 1987 and finished in 1990, making it the only stadium built during that period. The Stadium was onced home to Seirmare FC, but is now home to the newly formed Sporting Seirmare, after Seirmare FC moved to the bigger Rema Dome.

Stuttgart Arena, Stuttgart

Image

Capacity: 55,000

The Stuttgart Arena's design earns it the nickname "The Face". The field itself, while looking like a face, actually meets standards and the shape is just for, well, you could say fun. VFB Stuttgart plays its home games here.

Dermeir Park, Tolger

Image

Capacity: 40,000

It may look big, but most of it is filled with generators and lights! The Dermeir Park was designed in 2003 and finished in 2005, but it wasn't until SG Tolger came to existance in 2007 that fans experienced football in the stadium. A common joke is, "Don't go at night, you'll go blind." Which is obviously explainable in the above photo

This is a serious test

For the 'B' players that will play in the Ebyria Regional Cup, to which Somewhereistonia (slightly surprisingly) got an invite, this is a great chance to prove their worth. Each one is looking to either cement a first team squad place, move up to the first 11 or simply to get into the full 'A' squad. Every player out there has something to prove, and the manager will be keen to see how well the players cope together. They have been training hard the last week, gelling together to try to form the winning squad. It looks to be a cup that will not be overly challenging, but one where there is a real prospect of silverware for the second-string Eagles.

This is a big chance for the players to prove themselves in an otherwise small tournament, and with the likes of Ąžuolas Antanas (the ISC Rig captain) prepared to start, you really must see this as a glimpse of what may be the all important depth of the Eagles team in the world cup. This is a good squad of players, all of whom should be able to hold down a first team place at any of the other nations in this tournament. We should win, but it is clearly not guaranteed. Expect this tournament to be taken seriously because everybody in it has something to gain by doing so.

<Beddgelert> if that were true, i'd never have woken up with pockets full of ketchup

Postby Osarius » Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:32 pm

Osarius opened their Ebyria Regional Cup campaign with a convincing victory over Evgenia. Benedict di Corradi used the match as a statement of intent, fielding his strongest eleven from the outset.

Typically of the Firebirds, they pressed hard, taking an early lead - predictably through Dean Atkinson - after just six minutes. The Turic striker was lively in the area and when Benni Watson's free kick was slightly off target, Atkinson responded quickest to tuck in the rebound off the post. It was a landmark moment for Osarius' top goalscorer, as it was his 20th goal in the red, black and gold of his national team.

If Evgenia had expected the Osarians to slow down a little after gaining the lead, they were sadly mistaken. The ultra aggressive side continued to pile men forward, with captain Lewis dictating things from the heart of the midfield. When Lewis found Cassetti in space, Evgenia's defence panicked, and swarmed the creative attacker. Calm as he is creative, he merely nudged the ball out of the crowd and straight into the path of Jermain Lewis. The marauding captain's fierce drive struck the bar.

The intense pressure kept up for most of the first half, with Evgenia making some incisive counter-attacks, only to be thwarted by the last ditch defending of Gidds and Higuain - both back to top form again - and occasionally the reflexes of Orlando Florian.

Despite all the pressure, Osarius seemed to be encountering the same problem they have faced in the past - in inability to convert chances. While Atkinson is a reliable goalscorer, he was being double marked for most of the first half, placing much more of the burden on Aguilar, Watson and Cassetti. Watson came close again with another free kick, while Aguilar forced a brilliant fingertip save from distance. Cassetti struggled to overcome the central midfielder who had dropped back to cover him, and Lewis couldn't find space going forward. Approaching half time, it looked as though Evgenia might have been able to find a way back into the game, as their smothering tactics seemed to be working.

During half-time, di Corradi made the decision to take off Roberto Cassetti (again), and made history with his replacement. Rudy Atkinson - in great form for Dynapolis United, having scored in each of their last five games - came on to partner his brother up front for the first time in almost ten years, and the first time brothers had ever partnered one another for the national side.

The younger - but stronger - Atkinson's impact was immediate. His strength on the ball allowed him to hold up play long enough to draw Lewis into attacks, or to spread the ball wide for Aguilar or Watson. Osarius were taking control of the game again. It took only twelve minutes of international play for Rudy Atkinson to open his scoring account for the national team. Controlling a diagonal pass from Watson, he turned and played his brother in behind the last defender. The elder Atkinson faked a shot, and backheeled the ball square into the path of his brother. Rudy Atkinson made no mistakes. 2-0 Osarius, and a well worked goal.

On sixty-four minutes, Benedict di Corradi decided to make two more changes, clearly comfortable with the notion that his team had secured victory already. Off went Aguilar and Anderson, on came Bonriou and Vilito. Play continued as before, with Rudy Atkinson becoming the focal point of Evgenia's defensive man-marking. Unfortunately, this was a poorly thought out plan, as it left his brother with too much space. Remy Bonriou would capitalise on this when he beat his man on the left flank and looped a cross over and into the box. Rudy Atkinson managed to win the ball and flick it on under pressure, where his older brother was waiting to stab home and complete a convincing three goal victory.

On the bench, Benedict di Corradi must have been thinking he has found a winning combination up front, as the Atkinson brothers combined to devastating effect against Evgenia. The Firebirds will face Albundania next, home nation of BFL Champions Lemanskigrad United.

A fair performance from Andrewboy. They got stuck in and ran out onto the feild pumping withe energy and a inspired performance from Johnson and Wlash. WLash hit s socrtcehr early on and Johnson found the mark after flicking his way past defenders before sloting home. Baldia Minor played a very good game though and came back every time we scored and tied it well to give them a hope.

BURCHADINGER TIMES
BURCHADINGER CRUSH BALIDA MINOR!

Markus Klogh scored his first hat-trick of the Ebyria Regional Cup as Burchadinger lived up to their pre-tournament billing with a fine victory over Balida Minor in Group A. Balida Minor started positively but were hit on the counter-attack, with Maximillian Fischer squaring for Klogh to roll home. Rocco Frank saw a shot hit the post but then Klogh prodded past Wesley Riend to double the lead and after 74 minutes he drilled in a third. Kurt Marlin nodded a consolation before Markus Hoogdalem headed a fourth and fifth for Burchadinger.

Burchadinger wasted a number of openings to win by an even bigger margin and the standard of their performance would suggest a place in the semi-finals is well within reach. In Klogh and Wilhelm Sigmundson, they appear to possess a forward partnership to match any at the tournament and the array of creative midfielders at Deval Enke's disposal should ensure a regular supply line. Balida Minor's Billy Corenton has high hopes to advance to the knockout rounds at every major international competition he has coached at the EBC but the now has a task on his hands just to patch up a porous defence, let alone progress to the last four.

Klogh and Sigmundson looked in menacing form from the outset and inside 10 minutes the strikers each had a decent sight of goal but produced weak finishes. At the other end, Balida Minor were working the channels well and Berrot Shane squared from the right for Raul Esterio to fire wide under a timely challenge from Elias Becker. But, uncharacteristically of a team sent out by Corenton, it was in defence that Balida Minor were exposed. Enke opted against including Leipzig's central midfielder Alexander Schmidt in his starting line-up, instead pairing the forward-thinking Hansen with the more defensively minded Radoslav Pretiev. Pretiev, who signed for 1860 Flumineiro of Queer Poco el Mono Ara after the Burchadinger Invitational Cup, was in sensational form, turning defence into attack at every opportunity and allowing Hansen to pick out Torres and Villa whenever possible. It was, however, a clearance from Leon Muller that resulted in Klogh outmuscling the hapless Eddy Nick on 18 minutes and scoring. Far from deflating Balida Minor, the goal merely encouraged them to throw more men forward and they were unfortunate not to equalise.

Wayne Rene overlapped Berrot Shane and his low cross was missed by four Burchadingan defenders before Rocco Frank saw his curled effort rebound off Klaus Diefenbaker's right-hand post. But Maximillian Fischer almost doubled their lead only to flick wide under pressure from the Balida Minor goalkeeper Riend when slipped through by Klogh. The warning signs were plentiful - Hansen saw a shot parried and then Klogh was denied by Riend at the near post - but still the Balida Minor back four failed to get tight to their men. And they were punished on the stroke of half-time when, after inexplicably losing possession at a corner, Nick Heidfeld moved into space and played a sumptuous through-ball to Klogh, which the Dresden man needed little invitation to slot through Riend's legs.

The second half was even more open than the first. Klogh, now stripped of Sigmundson, who was replaced by Markus Hoogdalem for tactical reasons, shot straight at Riend as Balida Minor backed off. Two minutes later John Rick came in from the left and fizzed a left-footed effort narrowly wide. It took a last-ditch Kent Alvaro clearance to deny Klogh his hat-trick from Elias Becker's centre but, after Hansen saw a header well saved, the 23-year-old scored his third. He collected Hoogdalem's perfectly weighted pass, turned Eddy Nick and wrong-footed Riend. Craig Danny had shot just wide before he turned in a corner on 86 minutes. But, with Balida Minor running on empty, Hansen's shot was parried and Hoogdalem headed in his first international goal to leave Burchadinger well worth their victory. Even in stoppage time, Hoogdalem found the strength for another goal and the match ended 5-1.
