Basketball is one of the faster games played in the Union of Ko-oren... that's also on a small field and with small teams. It's the ultimate urban pickup game: it's informal, you don't need a lot of space and games are easily started. It's popular in some areas of the Union more than in others (which is where the trigrammes stand for: nations within the Union of Ko-oren. See the domestic newswires (in the signature) for more info).

It's a game for both genders, at least in the Union, and about half the domestic league is comprised of female players.

Team name: Union of Ko-oren, Dragonflies, Greenblues, feel free to add your own
Demonym: Unionites, among others
Colours: Green, blue, yellow
Style: -5
Style notes: Defence is highly prioritised in the form of positioning. The strong defence comes almost entirely from tactical advantages instead of physical ones. The Union always plays a clean game with few fouls. Offensively, the focus is on running down the clock a little, opening up space for other players, passing and above all waiting for the perfect time to release, maximising accuracy and shot percentage. Threes are fairly common. Offensive schemes are extremely variable and can change every quarter if needed to always get the tactical edge over their opponents.

Starting:

PG - Juliet Shillington (f) - KOR
SG - Wang Shen (m) - KAO

The rankings are decided by the following factors: how good the team is, how good the player is RP'ed to be, how well the player is RP'ed, and bias towards my team. Only players on current rosters are included.

For some players, I added information. If you didn't specify anything that sets players apart, I, in general, made stuff up. If you like it, feel free to use it. If you don't, then you can RP my article being incorrect, considering that it is the opinions of a journalist.

So, I'm sitting in my desk one day, planning out my article on the Copa Rushmori, when by boss rushes to me.

"They need to know the players!" he yells. I'm confused.

"The... Copa Rushmori players?" I ask.

"No, the IBC players, goddammit!. The audience! They need to get to know the IBC players! Some of them are new to basketball!"

So here I am, in an effort for you to get to know the players competing at the upcoming International Basketball Championships. So here are some players to watch, ranked. I present you the top 24 players at the 18th International Basketball Championships!

(I only included one player per team, as an arbitrary rule.)

24. PG David Parks-Germain (Frenline Delpha)
Frenline Delpha, making their first International Basketball Championships appearance, will be most notable for David Parks-Germain, their 7'3" point guard. Produced by some sort of freak of nature, Parks-Germain is the most agile Frenlin in the starting five, despite, onc again, being 7 feet and 3 inches. He has an incredibly long stride and impressive speed, so that he can use his insanely long arms to swipe at the ball, and then take off on the fast break, speeding away from everybody and dunking without even jumping. Parks-Germain is somewhat short of actual ability, as his shooting touch is a work in progress, but his inhuman athleticism and surprising passing ability easily makes him the best player on Frenline Delpha.

23. PG Daniel Gordon (Alastonia)
The second point guard out of two players on this list, Gordon lacks the freakish size of the player above him, but he makes up for that with his skill set. The Alastonian point guard, leading his team into its first International Basketball Championships, has a sweet shooting stroke and hawkish defense which make him the focal point of any opposing coach's scouting. Gordon is the type of player who can go toe-to-toe with anyone, and on an inexperienced Alastonian squad, that is crucial. His aggressive defense in which he isn't afraid of any matchup gives him the title of best Alastonian player, and he is a formidable threat on offense as well. With his ability to create offense by himself as well as his willingness to spot-up and shoot, Gordon will be looking to take Alastonia to the Round of 16.

22. PF Ion Victor Molnár (Natanians and Nosts)
The tallest player in this International Basketball Championships, Ion Victor Molnár of Natanians and Nosts stands 2.5 meters off the ground, or 8 feet and 2 inches. The power forward (oddly, not center) is not the greatest natural basketball player in the world, nor in Natanians and Nosts, but he has something you can't teach: height. His height is so unrivaled among even basketball players that Natanians and Nosts's offensive strategy usually revolves around throwing the ball high in the air towards him and letting him dunk, something he can do without jumping. If Natanians and Nosts utilizes his height properly, they could be a force to be reckoned with.

21. SG Peter Flammia (Marion Oaks 2)
Peter Flammia of Marion Oaks 2 is yet another height anomaly in this IBC, being a 6'10" shooting guard. Flammia is somebody who simply cannot be guarded by another shooting guard, as he is too large, too powerful. And even if other teams were willing to switch a taller player onto him, one who probably wouldn't be fast enough to keep up, forwards on opposing teams will be focused on other players on the giant Marion Oaks 2 roster, such as the 7'4" center and the 7'1" power forward. Hence, Flammia will likely be the biggest matchup problem for Marion Oaks 2's opponents, and therefore the key to their success. If he can dominate his adversary, this team might find some success.

20. PG Michael Buckner (Kaboomlandia)
Four inches taller than the center he starts next to, Kaboomlandian point guard Michael Buckner is a combination of size, speed, and skill which makes him the undisputed leader of their basketball team. And it is a team in need of a leader, as coach Michael Myers's status as a serial killer call into question his leadership ability. Buckner is a prototypical star point guard - he is an excellent passer, he can drive, and he plays tenacious defense. But what sets him apart from many other point guards is his size. At six feet and 8 inches, he is a matchup nightmare for most opposition (I say "most" due to the size of some of the players earlier on this list). And after a largely mediocre performance in IBC 17, Kaboomlandia are in need of something that sets them apart.

19. SF George Russell (Valladares)
As a 7'1" small forward, George Russell of Valladares is another very strangely positioned player. However, he does have some of the skills of a small forward, and paired with this 7'1" frame, this can be a dangerous combination. Russell doesn't quite have the speed as others in his position, which is a major flaw on defense, but he makes up for it with his blocking ability. And he more than makes up for it on offense, being too good of a shooter for any center to guard and too large for any small forward. Russell should be the Valladars' primary option offensively, and they might just win a few games if he produces.

18. G Tetsuya Kuroko (Flardania)
With Flardania entering their second IBC with their sights set on the Round of 16, they will be looking for guidance from leader on and off the court Tetsuya Kuroku. The guard, who is fully capable of either running the offense or drilling threes assisted by Yuna Akashi, is Flardania's best player on both sides of the ball. He is also their undisputed leader in the locker room, as he is the one looked to when they are struggling. And with his never-give-up attitude, Kuroku is the best man to get Flardania out of a slump. His eagerness to run with the fastest (he truly embodies their nickname, "Lightspeed") and tussle with the strongest makes him the focal point of everything Flardania basketball. Which, if you are a Flardania fan, is a good thing.

17. PF Aemaeron Malithlhûn (Valanora)
Valanora, a soccer powerhouse, is not quite as adept at basketball. However, they are not without some very good players, such as Power Forward Aemaeron Malithlhûn. The 724-year-old elf is right in the prime of his career at this moment, and is playing the best basketball he has in his life. Malithlhûn is not very large for a power forward, given that he is an elf, but he certainly makes up for his lack of size in other ways. He packs a very large punch for, and can be very aggressive sometimes dirty, in dealing with opponents. In fact, it is rumored that he is feared by opposing power forwards who don't want to deal with him. Malithlhûn also uses his size to his advantage, slyly eluding large, helpless defenders on offense. With his excellent boxing-out ability, he is a shockingly good rebounder, and his aforementioned aggression makes him an above-average defender. If only every elf on Valanora showed the same vigor, they would be higher than 52nd in the rankings.

16. SF Alain Desjardin (Omerica)
One of the more versatile and perhaps underrated player participating in this IBC in Alain Desjardin, the centerpiece of Omerica's offense. Desjardin is a very smart basketball player, and that couple with his skill is very potent. He specializes in finding the right place on the three-point line and draining threes, which is fairly easy in a well spaced-out Omerican offense. However, it is his cuts that are most dangerous to the opposition, when he dashes towards the basket at just the right time and his found by a teammate for a wide open layup. Defensively, he plays as hard as just about anybody you can find, which is one of his traits that is often overlooked. Sometimes he plays too hard, and gets into foul trouble, which hurts Omerica greatly. Without him on the floor, they are a pretty poor team. But if he can stay on the court, this is a team capable of competing.

15. SG Kris Reece (Elejamie)
The captain of the Elejamian basketball team is a 7'1" shooting guard named Kris Reece. In any other tournament, this would be very abnormal, yet many such anomalies exist in this IBC 18. However, this one has an interesting backstory. Allegedly, Reece played center for most of his career when a clerical error in a scorecard labeled him as a shooting guard. When he jokingly decided to play shooting guard, many were shocked to see just how well he did, lighting up the floor with threes and blocking jump shots on the other end. While this story has been called into question as of late, it is still true that his shooting ability is unrivaled for anyone his size. Reece is probably the best shooter on Elejamie, as well as being one of the better ball handlers. And defensively, he accumulates a massive amount of blocked shots. If Reece can help Elejamie be stingy defensively and he gets going from long range, they have a very feasible shot at getting out of the group stage.

14. C Marcelino Navarro (Nueva Andalusia)
The MVP of the domestic Nueva Andalusian basketball league and perhaps the most valuable player on the Nueve Andalusia Horneros is Marcelino Navarro. Despite being of a below-average height for a center in this field full of giants, Navarro can still use his size. He is built like a tank, and, with an array of post moves, he can use either power or finesse to make the player defending him look silly. And he is very good defensively, not making any huge plays but effectively taking his counterpart out of the game, making the most threatening player a non-threat. He does sometimes struggle to keep up with his team's fast-paced play, but never as badly as his opponent. Navarro has a fierce me-vs-you competitiveness, in which he tries to do everything better than his direct opposition, usually the opposing center, does. If all the other Horneros do that to their men, they will win games.

13. SG Pejan Dord (Banija)
Pejan Dord, the captain of the Banijans' entry to the International Basketball Championships, embodies everything that is Banijan basketball - fast, fun, light-out at shooting, and poor defense. Dord is a below-average defender, just like most of his teammates, but he earns his place in this list on the other side of the ball. Dord is very fast, and his engine rarely seems to run out, with him running up and down the court at full speed whenever he is on the floor. He plays like he is entranced in a completely different world, with pinpoint focus and absolutely no regard for what is happening outside the 94 by 50 feet bounds of the basketball court. And, of course, there is his shooting. Pejan Dord is a lights-out shooter, with a picture-perfect motion and a ball that always seems to find the back of the net. When he gets going, Banija is one of the best basketball teams in the multiverse. The question is whether he can sustain that form.

12. PF Booker Washington (United States of Devonta)
Booker Washington of the United States of Devonta's inclusion in this list lies not in his sweet shooting stroke or athleticism but rather in the intensity and vigor he plays the game with. From his pursuit of loose balls to his post game orations, Washington's zeal comes out in many ways. Sometimes, said fervor translates seamlessly onto the basketball court, and he is all over the place, simply outworking the other nine players. Other times, he takes it all out on the referee, or another player, and gets into trouble. It is limiting these outbursts that should be the focus of United States of Devonta's Benny Davis, who has been accused of at times enabling what gets Washington, and
his entire team, in trouble.

11. SF Tori Gunnarsson (North Armeia)
Just missing out on the top 10 is North Armeian Tori Gunnarson, a player who has never appeared in this tournament before, but still has high expectations. The first of several female players on the list, Gunnarsson is something of a basketball wunderkind, starring in the Armeian Basketball SuperLeague at the age of just 19. It is unclear whether her 25 points and 14 rebounds per game average will translate to international play, but she is well though-of in Armeia. And scouts seem to like her too, describing Tori as a "6'11" "small" forward who dominates the game in every possible. If she meets expectations, Armeia might be a dark horse in this tournament, and a powerhouse in years to come.

10. PG Hectare Yulssen (Vangaziland)
A true general of the floor, Vangazilandian point guard Hectare Yulssen is relied on by the 52nd-ranked basketballing nation in the world to manufacture much of their offense. Yulssen will bring up the ball on every single play, and then proceed to attempt to find a good shot for either himself or his teammates. He is an excellent fit for this job, with his slick handles, remarkable vision, and silky passing. But it is often speculated whether this responsibility is too much for one player. However, Yulssen has persisted in proving his doubters wrong, as he is the driving force behind Vangaziland offensively. Not to mention that he is especially deft at stealing the ball on defense. Yulssen forces more turnovers than he creates, which is impressive considering how much he handles the ball, and he is undoubtedly the key to Vangaziland's success.

9. PG Justin "Ghost" Jones (Cruenatia)
Ghost Jones, the slick Cruenatian point guard, definitely has earned the title of the most hyped player that came out of the blue. His name was not very recognizable to any fan, casual or die-hard, just a week or two ago. Now, many are buzzed to see this player's handles, passing, footwork, and general artistry. The entirety of Cruenatia is very excited to see him play internationally, with his ability to generate offense out of what seemed to be absolutely nothing. However, there has been doubt expressed in the media over whether he is experienced enough to properly lead. But with his take-no-prisoners attitude, Jones seems like the perfect person to lead Cruenatia to success in their first try at the IBC.

8. SF Tyson Ejim (Royal Kingdom of Quebec)
The co-hosts of this tournament, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, are looking to make a run at the title, but they can't do that without Tyson Ejim. The small forward is the grimmest of the grim reapers, and despite his constant pessimism, he continues to be the best player the Quebecois can offers. Ejim is a knock-down shooter and is never afraid of driving in amongst the trees on offense. But the most notable trait about him is his refusal to feel satisfaction. No lead is too big for Ejim, and there are no small mistakes. So when he's upset when up 20, imagine him when he's 20. It is unknown whether this makes him better. Some think that he is his biggest critic, and that makes him the superbly talented player he is. Other say that he lets his frustrations get the better of him, and does reckless things. Regardless, if he stays the pessimistic way he is and keeps producing at the level he is currently, Quebecois fans will be just fine.

7. SF Blaine Marks (The Sword Bloke)
The last time around, also The Sword Bloke's first stint here, they made a surprising run to the Round of 16. At the center of that run was Blaine Marks, one of the stingiest defenders in the tournament. Marks leads an Over 200cm Murderballers side that is always a challenge to score on, and he is the best defender on one of the best defensive teams. Marks is capable of guarding absolutely anybody on the court, and doing so exceedingly well. He is big and rough, with long arms that swipe at dribbles and swat aways shots. The captain of the team is also nearly impossible to drive on, something he does impeccably on offense in addition to his defensive prowess. With his driving being the most dangerous weapon The Sword Bloke has on offense, Blaine Marks is certainly invaluable to this team.

6. SF Atualo Vela (San Llera)
The third straight small forward on this list, and, more notable, the San Lleran, is Atualo Vela, clocking in at sixth in my slightly biased basketball rankings. Vela is very well-known among San Llerans, but he probably won't be incredibly famous worldwide until he leads San Llera to the inevitable championship victory. So I'll give any foreigners a rundown: Vela is freakishly athletic and the star of San Lleran basketball, and he is simply the best. Many doubters, before this IBC, acknowledged his athleticism but doubted his actual ability. However, he will prove his doubters wrong, as he will show an excellent shooting touch and great court vision in his MVP performance this IBC. Vela is by far the fastest player on San Llera, and the most athletic, with a 36-inch standing vertical leap. He has also developed shooting and passing skills in the last 2 and a half years, and will be San Llera's star in this incoming IBC.

5. SF Jimmy Tremmor (Taeshan)
Yet another small forward (odd), and reluctantly put ahead of Vela on this list, is Taeshan's Jimmy Tremmor. Tremmor, a person of immense popularity in Taeshan and their best player on the basketball court, combines a fierce determination to win with an element of fun. He is known to run down the court in a sort of frolic, and has an incredibly strange shooting motion. But that shooting motion, in which he jerks around in the air and lets go of the ball milliseconds before touching the ground, works. Tremmor also, oddly, uses a similar passing motion for even the shortest of passes. But he garners a decent amount of assists, so it must work. As does the frolic, apparently, as he is quite fast for his position. But anybody that knows him will tell you that he is a fierce competitor, and his press conferences full of screaming emphasize this. Tremmor will be an interesting watch this tournament.

4. PG Leonidas "Leo" Baxter (Abanhfleft)
Leo Baxter, the captain of the Abanhfleft National Basketball Team, stands a mere 67 inches off the ground, and yet he is tall (for his position) compared to his teammates. On a team whose starting center isn't even 5'10", outside shooting is needed, as not much offense is going to be had inside. And that's exactly what Baxter provides. The diminutive player not look very dangerous, but teams have learned to never let him shoot, as he will knock down pretty much any open shot you give him. Baxter is also quite at perhaps being small in a good way, as he is very elusive in the paint. And Baxter's cleverness on both sides of the ball truly set him apart. Unfortunately for all basketball fans, however, Abanhfleft were not drawn with Frenline Delpha, so he will not guard a 7'3" player. But hey, there's always the knockout stages!

3. SG Omar Martin (Nova Anglicana)
It is somewhat unclear who Nova Anglicana's best player is, but it is fairly clear that the one with the most responsibility is Omar Martin. Martin, just 23, will be expected to score in bunches for a Lions team that recently lost the legendary Gary Hale to retirement. The former Rookie of the Year in Nova Anglicana's domestic league will also assume a big responsibility on defense, as he has been tasked to be "the guy chasing the opposing team all over the court". Some are skeptical of whether he can handle all this. Martin can shoot very well, as well as drive, and his offensive game should translate internationally. But the real question is can he handle chasing people on defense? Will that adversely affect his offensive game? Will he have enough in the tank for a run at the finals? Only time will tell with Martin and this Lions team. But if there is one man who can handle all that and lead Nova Anglicana to the light, it is Omar Martin.

2. C Melina Carlisle (Ko-oren)
Barely missing out on the privilege of being named the best basketball player in the world is the star on the best team in the world, at least according to the rankings, Ko-oren's Melina Carlisle. Carlisle is the anchor of the best defense in international basketball, with her shot-blocking, rebounding, and on-ball defending ability. It is nearly impossible for opposing bigs to consistently scored posting up, and it is this lack of an inside option for opposing offense that makes the Ko-oren defense so dangerous. Offensively, she isn't bad either. Carlisle shoots two's exclusively from within five feet of the basket, mostly layups and dunks she's excellent at finding. She pairs this with the occasional three, which she is very capable of making, to keep defenses honest. Since she earned he starting spot on the Ko-orenite national team, it is her all-around talent that helped Carlisle emerge as one of the best players in the world. She may cement her place as the best if she leads Ko-oren to a two-peat.

1. C Prince Ioannes (Saintland)
And finally, the best basketball player in the world is indisputably Prince Ioannes. He is a force to be reckoned with on offense, with the capability to post players up, face up, elude opposing centers, shoot most jump shots, and simply overpower defensive players. Anything less than a triple-team and it is a near guarantee that he will wreck a team offensively. He is also quite good defensively, with his discipline setting him apart defensively from other Sanctii players. Overall, absolutely nobody wants to play him, and he is capable of winning games all by himself, not to mention all the other weapons he has around him. Prince Ioannes and Saintland are my favorites to win the International Basketball Championships this year, after San Llera. Prince Ioannes is the reason why.

And that concludes our rankings! Thank you for reading!

National Basketball Team of Electrum
National Team for International Basketball Championships 18

Management Team
Jack Allen - Head Coach
Paula Hobson - Assistant Coach

History
Last year was an excellent year for the Electrumite basketball team. They had a breakout year in their very first tournament, the 14th edition of the International Basketball Championships in Cassadaigua. A debut team, which was heavily favoured to crash out and burn in the group stage, got through by the narrowest of margins, and had to face basketball powerweights before getting to the Championship series through hard work and dedication. They would face the Sanctii, a team to be reckoned with, and they nearly went the whole way in defeating them, but they narrowly lost the championship series 3-2, in the final Game 5. Then, in the second edition of the World Hoops Showcase, Electrum decided, along with Mizuyuki to host the tournament. Electrum enjoyed the home support and cruised through to the final, where they crushed Vyktory 2-0. Then, in the next tournament, the Olympics, the women's team did not make it past the group stage, but the men's team made it all the way to the final, scoring a gold medal for Electrum.

The next tournament was to be their pinnacle for the year. Electrum and Mizuyuki once again secured the hosting rights of the next edition of the IBC, IBC 15. As all matches were held in Electrum for the Electrumite team, they were under the pump the whole way through, with some disasterous losses to teams that nobody ever heard of. The kicker? They were eliminated in the final match day by some idiot chain of islands. That was their main opportunity to finally win THE basketball tournament at home, but they couldn't. Saintland would go on to win. Then, in a record, Electrum and Mizuyuki would host again for the third time (after newly elected Minister Nina Spring's initiative). Surprisingly, one of the foundation coaches, Scott Brown, defected to Super-Llamaland, dropping the coaching staff down to three. Unfortunately, yet again, Saintland would defeat Electrum, this time in a three match series, in the semifinals.

A basketball league has risen from the ashes of the former Collegial Basketball Association (which was initially used to select candidates for the IBC), with the professional competition in Electrum being called 'The Big Six' (the former locations of the universities, with two in Centralis, and an extra team formed in Port Grenville), meanwhile the basketball league has been renamed to the more boring University Basketball League. The roster is unchanged from last edition. With former head coach Warren Jefferson now out of the picture after retiring after a fairy-tale finish, another championship finals appearance (beating Saintland 2-1), before losing to Ko-oren and getting the runners-up. Allen has now stepped up to be the new coach. Captain Mirza is still out on an achilles injury, so Greiner will be acting Captain.

David Parks-Germain was reading random articles on their wi-fi enabled plane. He was trying to calm his nerves on the long, cross-galactical trip to San Jose Guayabal. They were going to the first International Basketball Championship for Frenline Delpha. After reading a rather vague article about the host countries, he came across an article writing by Marco Brelli. After reading the first section, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see his best friend, George Orwelt.

Orwelt: What are you reading, Dave?
Parks-Germain: It's a power ranking of the best player from each nation in the tournament. And get this: I'm on it.

David shows George the article

Orwelt: Well, he got one thing right. Your lack of skill.
Parks-Germain: Shut up! And I will let you know that I am highly regarded for my passing abilities. I am the team's play-maker, after all.
Orwelt: But he complimented your speed? You can't beat a snail in a foot race.
Parks-Germain: Haha. I may not be fast, but I do have a long stride. And the freak of nature comment was humorous. I am rather tall. I blame my father.
Orwelt: Congratulations on being named captain, David. Do you think this article had anything to do with it?
Parks-Germain: Probably not. I just hope we can get out of the group stage. We need to leave our mark on the IBC.
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

CSI-NCIS : Take a look at 2019 Fall Premieres

Hey guys! QBC has just announced the schedule for the fall season, which should start in 2 weeks. With all 6 of them coming back in action, this should be a very interesting season to watch with some changes on board here and there to meet that.

With that being said, here are your Season Premieres for our favourite Crime television programs in QBC 1. Enjoy!

Thursday, 19th of September

CSI : Montreal District Investigation - Season 16 Premiere (20:00 Western Standard Time/21:00 Quebec Standard Time/22:00 Maritime Standard Time)
Recurring Characters: Alexei Rachmaninoff as Bodgan Bordenstein
What's currently the longest-running crime and medical television series in Quebec begins with a bang as the CSI team embarks on a brand new challenge against two of their own. On a Friday night, investigators Alain Dufort (Jeremy Langevins) and Mara Erhadt (Jannok Ben-Amor) get kidnapped by a mysterious masked man with a LAG tattoo on his forehead. They, after great struggles, manage to escape but are left in middle of Great Calanian Desert. In the meantime, the CSI struggles to deal with a string of mysterious deaths that may trace back to the private life of a contraceptive mogul....

NCIS : Jansberg - Season 5 Premiere (21:00 Western Standard Time/22:00 Quebec Standard Time/23:00 Maritime Standard Time)
Jansberg's NCIS base hasn't been quiet in ages, with all the complications associated with Quebecois-Semarlandic naval relationship on the lakes. The Jansberg NCIS team searches for a possible home-grown terrorist after an undercover agent brought back a report from the Republican Government, revealing that a Semar was involved in the human trafficking business to fight in the Republican war zone. The ethereal Karim Radovic (Dima Brzokehmetovic) and thick-layered Mkenze Barlotelli (Nzarbarimb Kisimba) take on the charge, but the mounting case and government's refusal to cooperate makes this case harder and harder to solve.

Meanwhile Andrea Garneau (Ana Sigmundsson) goes through a tough news from home...

Monday, 23rd of September

CSI : Halifax - Season 7 Premiere (21:00 Western Standard Time/22:00 Quebec Standard Time/23:00 Maritime Standard Time)
Guest Appearance: Jose Mueva as Derrick Beauvillier, Brennan Yim as Jong Goon Baek
Coming back with Bryden Falkenham and Jenna Talbot joining the squad, season 7 opens up with Lionel Mah (Hyi Dong Koo) burning through everything, in order to find the people who kidnapped his great-greatdaughter from her captors. Their no-hostge, no-mercy ways may be too risky this time, however, as they encounter what in could possibly be the worst ship disaster the nation may have seen in 2 centuries.

Meanwhile, Catherine D'Iberville (Gabrielle De La Rose) manages to convince long-discharged agent Agustin Cortez (Bryden Falkenham) to return to CSI, and Sinead Osbourne (Diane Patry) wakes up after a long coma from her suicide attempt at the end of last season's finale.

Tuesday, 24th of September

NCIS - Season 9 Premiere (19:00 Western Standard Time/20:00 Quebec Standard Time/21:00 Maritime Standard Time)
Recurring Appearance: Doo Min Kwang as Justice Nam
Guest Appearance: Magnus Reiber as Devin Greene
This two parter is looking to be a highly explosive episode beginning the chapter of the other "Big 2" shows in the field. The unexpecting burning in last season finale hospitalised Lane Bishop (Julia Murray) with horrible burns, which in turn leaves the shellshocked NCIS, under Marco DiPlano (Francois Moran), to continue their pursuit and investigation of a mysterious disappearance. An eyewitness made by a Guayabalense footsoldier breaking the traces, they succeed in finding the victim who's found............... in a Semarlandic Tundra, most of his flesh grilled and eaten.

Written and directed by Alexandre-Philippe Contrecoeur, the series look to take a different artistic and storyline approach to production and should be exciting to watch.

NCIS : Winnipeg - Season 2 Premiere (20:00 Western Standard Time/21:00 Quebec Standard Time/22:00 Maritime Standard Time)
The latest of NCIS series comes back with more action, as the Winnipeg NCIS Office looks to handle cases in all of Western Quebec, where there have been more and more of challenging cases with the army and the people. The episode begins with a bam: Ji Yong Kwak (Joon Ha Yi) and Steve Vasconouk-O'Gee (Henri Burnham) were on their base to the base when their beloved Hummer gets booby trapped. This immediately kills everyone but the two, though Steve has to amputate his legs. With the boss hospitalised and DeRizzo sent to Semarland for the Bishop case, Ji Yong has to try and get them out of trouble, with Jimmy Vanier (Chase Ha) and Delphine Martineau-Svensson (Danielle Hannan) helping in MTAC.

Wednesday, 25th of September

CSI : Attawapiskat - Season 11 Premiere (21:00 Western Standard Time/22:00 Quebec Standard Time/23:00 Maritime Standard Time)
Recurring Characters: Carlotta Mancitta as Julie-Anne Giguere-Bonchetta
Guest Appearance: José Iniesta as Julio Maoxade
On the verge of cancellation few months earlier, CSI Attawapiskat somehow will manage to survive for another season. With the series on the line, the series looks to take an extreme, worldly angle as the investigators on this Nordic city of 785,000 people have to go deeper into their waters.

A nuclear inspection trip to Farfadillis' contaminated waters goes horribly wrong- The plane lands safely, but both pilots are found dead and passengers marinated in cargo compartment. Appalled by what they've found, the CSI team needs to find what exactly happened on that connecting flight from Ruland. Evidence should be easy to find, but the problem would be all the false evidence from other cases they would get with it.

Cosumar National Basketball Team -- IBC 18

Information

Nation - The Fiefdom of Cosumar. A constitutional monarchy renowned for its civil rights, stunning landscape, space program, and sporting culture.

Region - Atlantian Oceania

Demonym - Cosumarite

Team Nickname - Stallions

Team Style - +3. Coach Dupree likes to rotate Simmons and the younger Jeon and Na'Gono at point guard. This is Cosumar's first IBC starting line-up that will not feature aging superstar guard Jakk Klyde, though he will remain a prominent figure on the bench. Replacing him is the defending CBA MVP, Gonzalo Na'Zupito. The talented Vloo has always been a sharpshooter and athlete, but he has developed his passing and ballhandling in recent years to become an explosive jack-of-all-trades. He will rarely come off the floor, unlike the rotation approach at point guard. Another player that Coach Dupree can rarely afford to rest is volume-scorer small forward Benjamin Seymour, who should lead the team in PPG with his inside-and-out game. The Stallions start two monstrous inside presences in Dominik Yaray (the length) and Antoine Arthur (the brawn) who can both run the floor and finish in Coach Dupree's up-tempo transition game. Ronald Savon, who was the greatest Cosumarite center in history in his prime, will get plenty of bench minutes for Arthur even at age 33. Young power forward Severin Søholt, 23, once tipped as the future of the team, continues to improve but is still a bit raw and not ready to start. He will never have blazing speed, but he’s a lethal shooter with a sweet touch from anywhere on the floor, especially for someone of his size (a true stretch-4 a la Nowitzki).

History - This is Cosumar's eighth International Basketball Championships. Our first was IBC 9 in Mytannion, but thereafter we did not return until IBC 13. Cosumar has always been moderately successful in the tournament, but our first real success came here in Electrum in IBC 15, where we made a run all the way to the quarterfinals before being knocked out by #1 Saintland by the slimmest of margins. After further success in IBC 16 and 17, Cosumar is now one of the highest ranked nations in international basketball and has become a consistent Pot 1 squad. Expectations are higher than ever. Could this be Cosumar's first chance to win the whole thing?

Domestic League - Cosumar Basketball Association (CBA). Following the RL NBA model, the CBA consists of 32 teams with 16 in each conference (Eastern and Western). After a season of 62 games, the top eight teams in each conference advance to a playoff for the CBA Title. Best of 5 series are used in the playoffs until the conference finals, at which point Best of 7 is used. Three editions have been completed under the modern structure, with the Altamirano Artillery winning the most recent edition. The Cosumarite teams did not fair too well at the IUBC international competitions. Fort Archer Gorillas had the most success, advancing to the Round of 16 of the Falcon Plate.

A-Sport's live coverage of the 18th International Basketball Championships

Ramirez, San Jose Guayabal- Alastonia's national basketball team got off to a rocky start the International Basketball Championships 18 Monday, falling in their opener to Flardania, 81-61.

Alastonia struggled early on in the game, falling behind on a 10-2 run by Flardania to begin the first quarter. Alastonia only shot 23% in the first half, and found themselves down by 14 at halftime.

Alastonia seemed to settle down in the second half, but by then, the damage had been done. Alastonia would close the gap to single digits early in the fourth, but another run by Flardania put the game out of reach.

Asked about his team's performance after the game, Alastonian coach Gustave Holiday said, "We just came out cold. We weren't hitting our shots and we looked slow out there. We shot ourselves in the foot early and couldn't recover."

Holiday would go on to say, "I thought we got it together more in the second half, but we're here to play some of the world's best teams, and Flardania is a great team. We have to be able to put a whole game together, or we'll get blown out every game. We've got to adjust."

Alastonia was led offensively by Wesley Vickers, with 17 points. Flardania's Tetsuya Kuroko led the Lightspeed in scoring with 24 points.

Alastonia now looks to bounce back against North Armeia, who also lost their opening game. Coverage of that game will be provide live on A-Sport, as are all other Alastonian games in the tournament.

Cruenatian Sports Tonight
-With Freddie Sanchez and Michael Verducci

Michael Verducci: Hello, and good morning Cruenatia. We've got updates after match day one, and for those of you who missed out on the opening game for Cruenatia, you missed out on a Highlight reel performance for the All-Star PG, Justin "Ghost" Jones, Leading his team to a 79- 65 Win over rivals Kaboomlandia. What are your thoughts Freddie?

Freddie Sanchez:I'm man enough to admit when i'm wrong, and quite honestly I underestimated this kid and all the youngsters on the squad. The Kaboomlandians did put up a fight, but they just couldn't handle the constant pressure Cruenatia brought to the table. Let's take a look at the Cruenatian Stats for the Starting five.

Kaboomlandia 65–79 Cruenatia

# Pos Player Points Assists FG 3PT Blocks Steals TO Rebounds
5 PG Jones 32 4 6 7 0 1 0 0
20 SG Gordon 12 2 3 2 0 0 1 1
18 PF Clementine 5 1 1 1 3 1 0 2
12 C Carabolka 4 0 3 0 1 0 0 8
0 SF Scandola 8 3 3 0 2 0 1 3

Points off of the bench: 9

Freddie Sanchez: As you can see, Jones had an explosive night. He proved to be active all over the floor. Whether it was setting up key plays, finding the open man, or just using his dribbling skills to get himself open to drain a three or drive into the paint. He was on fire all night only missing 2 of his nine 3 pointers. He also sunk in several field goals and managed to bring down a beautifully delivered Alley-oop set up by Team mate Clementine. His fantastic passing set up many of the points made while he was on the court. Jones's opposition on the court tonight was 32 year old Michael Buckner who played very well and matched up well against the younger Jones in the opening quarters forcing him to not take as many chances as he usually would, after half time however, Jones seemed to shake off the nerves and really turned up the heat taking a lot more shots and really racking up the points. Jones just out handled him on offense and put enough pressure to force him to pass up the ball regularly while on defense. An impressive opening game from this youngster.

Michael Verducci: We've got an interview with the player of the game winner, Jones, right after the game where he talked about the win and left a message for his biggest fan.
---
Justin Jones: It was fantastic watching the team come together and perform. We've been training very hard the past few months leading up to this and everyone did what they were supposed to do in order for us to bring home the W. Kaboomlandia played very well and were definitely a worthy opponent. I owe my success to my teammates for putting their trust in me, as well as the coach for also having the faith and believing that I could do it. To all my fellow Cruenatians watching at home, We did it! We've put Cruenatia on the map. Stay tuned 'Cause we're far from over, and Sophia, baby. If you're watching this, I love you. Thank you.
---
Michael Verducci:Such a sweetheart. But what a leader Jones has turned out to be. His teammates did come ready to play as well. Gordon was definitely hot in the game sinking 3 out of 5 from the field and 2 out of 5 from outside. Also picking up a few Assists. On Defense, Carabolka showed up and dominated off the backboard. Cruenatia gave them problems in the first half, but really made them suffer for every mistake in the second half, getting rebounds left and right and setting up fastbreaks. So Freddie, how important was this match to the Cruenatian team? How will this win help them in later matches?

Freddie Sanchez:That win brought a good batch of confidence. The Cruenatians were untested and so this was their first impression on the international stage. Now other nations are going to take notice of them and know that these guys aren't a team to underestimate. Now is the time where we will see how good a coach Jeremy Mccoy is. He needs to let his players know that this win is huge, but it isn't going to make this tournament any easier. In fact, teams are going to be prepping for them and having a hawkeye towards Jones. Jones is going to have to get ready for double or even triple teams after racking up all of those points, so we're going to see how good the other shooters on the team are. The bench are also going to have to put in work for Cruenatia to make it to the round of 16. They managed, in total, to rack up 9 this game, which was good. But on games where Jones can't put up those numbers, everyone is going to have to do better, and these guys on the bench just need to do more. Gordon will likely be a good target to rack up points because when he gets open he's almost guaranteed to sink buckets. In a nutshell, this team really needs to spread out their offensive output and not rely so much on Jones, even when he's hot like that.

Michael Verducci:I do agree with you, Freddie. The offensive output needs to increase off the bench, the team needs to work on their defense as well. They did very well against kaboomlandia, yes, but they also made mistakes. A turn over or two, a couple of bad passes, not being able to fully get the rebound. Those are mistakes they just can't afford to make. It worked out for them this time, but you also have to realize, the "Kings" are ranked 67 in the world. They still have to face teams ranked higher later on and they will definitely pay for those small mistakes against teams like that. Mccoy and his staff will have to tighten up this defense.

Freddie Sanchez:Well, this was their opening match and their debut into the International sports world. There was a lot of pressure coming into this match and the players were definitely feeling it. When they step onto the court next time, they will still feel some pressure, but it will get easier for them, especially coming off of a big win like this. They won't make many of the same mistakes on either end of the court that they made here. We have a another interview with Jeremy Mccoy, with his take on his team's performance.
---
Reporter: Mr. Mccoy, How does this win effect your strategy in the upcoming games?

Jeremy Mccoy:Simply put, it doesn't. Tonight we celebrate, we skype home to our loved ones, we do what any other team would do after a win. We get some sleep, and then we're out on the court practicing early in the morning. Offensively, we showed that we can put up points. Jones may have been the main scorer, but we hinted at a few other weapons tonight. Defensively we were shaky in the beginning as the players fought their nerves, but once they got comfortable, they put on the pressure and forced the tough shots, forced the passes and got the results. I have never been more proud of the boys than I am now.

Reporter: How are you going to be spending the bye round?

Jeremy Mccoy:We will be studying Ack Barnes. They had a hell of a game tonight, and showed they are another team that can't be taken lightly. If we want to do well against them, we're going to have to watch their stars and hope we can come up with a good strategy against them. From what we can see so far, we'll have to definitely lock them down on defense and let our shooters do what they do best. Especially with Jones and Gordon's ability to get open and put points on the board and Scandola's ability to get points off of the fast break utilizing his surprising speed, but we'll just have to wait and see how they play the next game.

Reporter: After that rough opening quarter for Jones where he was unsure of himself and made almost no attempt at a basket, do you still believe that Jones was the right man for the Job as captain?

Jeremy Mccoy:Were you sleeping for the other three quarters? Jones warmed up pretty quickly and even in that rough opening round, as you call it, he was setting up plays and making assists. Kaboomlandia definitely controlled the opening quarter but we pulled a 180 on them in the second and really turned on the boosters in the Second half. You can sit here and talk about Jones's nerves all night, but at the end of the day, he brought in results. Ontop of that, it was a lot of pressure leading the team into the unknown like that. So, to answer your question, Yes Jones is still the right man for the Job. I know Mingola is chopping at the bit to get more minutes, but even he has admitted he isn't more qualified to lead the team. Jones has the talent and even as inexperienced as he is, he still manages to play like a veteran. I have faith in him, and so does everyone else in the locker room and in the great Nation of Cruenatia.
---
Michael Verducci:Kind of a silly question to ask if he's still the right man for the Job after a mind blowing performance by the captain. Unfortunately ladies and gents, we are almost out of time, so we're going to leave you with tonights top 10 Cruenatian moments of the game.

First Quarter
10. Gordon's open look 3 to put the first points on the board.
9. Scandola's first fast break which lead to a NASTY one handed Jam all alone.
8. Jones gets past Buckner with a no look pass to the wide open Clementine who sinks in the 3.

Second Quarter

7. Gordon drives in off of a pass from Scandola, then lays it up in such a cool fashion.
6. Jones gets heated up, getting himself open with a few nice moves and sinks in a clean 3.

Third Quarter

5. The GHOST takes FLIGHT! After a beautiful set up from Clementine, Jones slams in a nice Alley-oop and hangs onto the rim like a madman!
4. Jones making his way through the opposition for a nice layup.
3. Wolfe, a veteran playing off the bench with a monstrous Slam out of NOWHERE.

Fourth Quarter

2. SPACEMAN! Scandola's signature dunk, the "Spaceman" makes it's debut after a steal by Jones sets up a fast break to Scandola who ignites the arena with the slam heard around the world!

Number One

1. Of course, the Captain tops off the list with this these insane skill moves to get inside and then the dump off to Gordon who is wide open on the outside that sinks in a beautiful 3. What a shot!

Freddie Sanchez:Well that about wraps it up for now. Thanks for watching, I've been Freddie Sanchez

Michael Verducci:And I'm Michael Verducci, how do you think the Cruenatians will fare in the tournament? How will this win effect Cruenatia and Kabomlandia? We want to know your thoughts! Leave them on our message boards over at CruenatianSportsTonight.com/IBC18. We will see you next time!

The team's red haired coach, Tim Tomasson, summed up the reasons for the loss with one word. Rust.

"Our team got caught flat-footed today", he said. "Our guys just were not as sharp as they could be."

The Vannish offense looked stale. There was some movement along the perimeter, with the ball cutting from corner to the top of the key, back to the other corner. There was not enough action in the post. There were not enough cuts. The timing with the screens was a little off, with pick and roll plays barely getting anything started.

"I think that as the season progresses, we will fall into our game. We can put out more effort than we did tonight."

The coach carried himself in a relaxed manner. He told the media that he 'had a plan' and that Vannish fans should 'not fret'.

Defensively, the Vannish had some good sets, keeping the other team from running the score up too high. But there were some missed assignments, late switches within the zone. The zone is being used a little more than it was last year, at least for now.

Hurcle picked up three blocks and a low post steal on a pass. Offensively, he didn't do much scoring only 11 points. He had a mediocre rebounding performance with 7. Yulssen picked up 7 assists and 9 points. He managed to eek out as good of a passing performance as he could despite the lack of offensive production. His assist count should have been closer to 10. But shots just weren't falling.

The Vannish fans began to boo when Jolla Borgsen missed a layup off a pass. Of course, Vangaziland had its runs and took the lead during a few moments in the game. But by the last three minutes, the game's winner was clear. Some fans started to leave early to beat the traffic.

Team Captain John Jennsen grabbed 8 rebounds and led Royals scoring with 15 points. Speaking on the season, he said, "We'll turn up the volume. Hopefully the next few games will turn out differently."

Newcomer Tom Gravu picked up the Vannish highlight of the game, scoring from a corner on a late, contested 3 point shot. It brought the Royals within 4 at the buzzer of the third quarter's end. He scored 8 points off the bench, shooting 2-3 from three point land and sinking two free throws.

The team would be looking to make a few improvements, hopefully soon.

A-Sport's live coverage of the 18th International Basketball Championships

Ramirez, San Jose Guayabal-
After stumbling out of the gate in their first game of IBC 18, Alastonia rebounded in their second game of the tournament, defeating North Armeia, 75-58.

Unlike their first game, Alastonia was able to get their shots to fall early, hitting their first 4 shots of the game. North Armeia would close the gap in the second quarter, and Alastonia went into the half with a slim lead.

Alastonia would control the second half, and would force double-digit turnovers in the final half. Shooting 66% from three-point range in the game, Alastonia would extend the gap to close out the game, going to 1-1 in the tournament after two games.

"We knew we needed a better showing than yesterday," said Alastonian coach Gustave Holiday. "We shot the ball much better, were more crisp on defense...we just played better. Not perfect, but we definitely improved, and that's what we really want to see."

Alastonia did struggle inside the paint, as North Armeia's center and both forwards had a significant size advantage over their Alastonian counterparts.

"We knew our guards would need to step up," said Holiday. "We knew they were tall and we knew they were going to play quick, so we knew we had our work cut out for us. Our guys stepped up, and that's why we won."

Alastonia will now face Frenline Delpha, who won their first game and had a bye on match day 2.

With the national team having a BYE week, another set of national stars took over the Vannish sports media. The 11th Annual Armed Forces Basketball Brawl was held at Johnston's Fieldhouse Arena in a one afternoon event.

These weren't just basic soldiers and sailors squaring off. Vangaziland has a mandatory conscript policy, where all adults must serve 6-12 months in the military between ages 18-21. This means that most, if not all top prospects will pass through the military at some point. This meant a lot of the top players were lower ranked enlisted basically on loan. Cadets from the service academies also played. The teams were also open to members of the professional, regular military.

It was a showcase where scouts from the Vannish pro leagues and the national team watched the year's military class. This year there was a chance for one player to be immediately added to the roster in a injured reserve spot.

In Game 1, the Air Force faced the Marine Corps. This turned out to be a close game with 14 lead changes. A1C Jessica Halvorsen dominated first half scoring for the Air Force. She would go on to total 27 points on 45% shooting. The 6'3 guard also picked up 7 assists and 2 steals. Fighting back for the Corps was PVT Aaron Jeffssen. The 6'7 small forward picked up 25 points and 12 rebounds. PFC Earl Charlesen picked up 9 assists for the Corps on some flashy passing from the post.

The Air Force won 68-62 over the Corps.

The Army played the Navy in Game 2. This was a rivalry match that didn't take place every season, with first round matchups rotating every year.

The Army's charismatic team leader was SSG Freddie Mott, a drill sergeant in a Conscript Training Battalion. He was a 6'4 shooting guard that had a soft touch on his jumper all over the court. He picked up 20 points in a very tactical performance, shooting from all over. PVT Tomas Juneborg, the Army's seven foot center picked up 18 points and 7 assists. Some say he is like Patrick Ewing in the way that the ball comes to him at the top of the free throw line. Then he chooses to drive, shoot or pass. The defense has to adapt to him.

The Navy started out hot and had the lead at halftime. But they just couldn't seem to find their range in the second half. They ended up losing with the final score 72-58, Army over Navy. Ensign Danny Hannen, a fighter pilot, led the Naval effort with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

So the Air Force and the Army faced off at 2000 hours for the final, fans rowdily cheering as the starting lineups were introduced.

Jess Halvorsen got off to a quick start, running isolation or using screens to bring her team to an early lead. The Army started fighting back, scoring mostly in the post while the Air Force took jumpers. There were a few lead changes in the first half and scoring was split evenly throughout the teams.

The fight continued into the second half. It came down to defense. And the Army was just a bigger team. PFC Jake Raynes put forth a lot of effort, making hustle plays and shutting down the Air Force's PG in the fourth quarter, and limiting him to 6 assists all game. Defense and consistent offense took the Army to the top.

This year's winner was the Vannish Army, 81-72.

Tim Tomasson ended up picking Airman First Class Jessica Halvorsen, bringing one more scorer to the Vannish National Team. She was the first woman selected to a Vannish national team in three years. This year she is expected to only serve in the injured reserve role. But she will have a role in Vannish National Basketball for the next few years.

She will be granted leave from her unit and will resume her duties as a fueler after IBC 18 ends.

Some thought PVT Juneborg would be selected. Tomasson said he wanted to take the year to develop Jess and get her working with the offense.

Nations interested in an inter-branch, military basketball friendly match for charity should contact the Vannish Army's Public Affairs Department for scheduling information.

Somewhere in the Royal Kingdom of Quebec

"I love it when a plan comes together."

It came as a surprise to only foreigners when the Samahang Basketbol ng Abanhfleft (Fleftic Basketball Federation) announced that following the end of the 17th International Basketball Championships in Saintland and Quebec, the federation would be disbanding the current national team and building a new squad from the ground up in preparation for the next tournament. It took almost the entirety of the year between the two tournaments for the federation to decide on their new national squad. And when they revealed the new squad just weeks before the start of the new IBC in Quebec and San Jose Guayabal, the squad was actually almost the same one that had participated in the earlier IBCs, except for the fact that some of the former starters had now been sent to the bench.

It was the starting five that got everyone's attention. This starting five wasn't exactly the kind of people that you'd want to have as your starting five in basketball, seeing as none of them even break through the six-foot mark. The new starting center, Dylan Kapowski, wasn't even five foot ten! His official height is listed as five feet and nine and a half inches. Nine and a half inches. Surely there were other Fleftic basketball players that were much, much higher than that, seeing as center is usually the tallest position in basketball.

But sometimes height doesn't even matter when picking players. Sometimes it has to do with skill. And this new starting five of Abanhfleft certainly had a lot of skill, for they were Riuwiee State University's championship-winning team of the 2008-09 Fleftic college basketball season. They were of a similar vein to Fleftic football's Mythical Five from Riuwiee State University, and it was no surprise when people found out that they were all close friends, the Bagong Rebolusyonaryos's starting five and the Lady Revolutionaries' Mythical Five.

Perhaps the greatest highlight of all the new Fleftic starting five was Leonidas Baxter, or Leo as he preferred to be called. He was quite probably the shortest point guard in the history of the Fleftic national basketball team, and he might even be the shortest point guard to enter the tournament, if some nation of dwarfs or very tiny aliens doesn't enter it too. People seem to like to think that just because Leo, and by extension the rest of his team, was short meant that they would be easy pushovers. And, to be fair, physically that may be true for some of the smaller specimens on the team like Leo and... basically no one else. But Leo has certainly made up for the lack of his height with an explosive shooting skill that allows him to shoot from almost any position on the court and sink the shot nine times out of ten. Sometimes this even applies to points beyond the half-court line.

And his small size also allows him to squeeze past the defense and into the paint. And this is where he really shows his worth. He admits he's short, but that doesn't mean that he lets his "height deficiency" affect him. Instead he conquered his one physical weakness by developing a way which allows him to jump almost as high as a six-foot-six point guard would be expected to jump. That meant that the new starting five of Abanhfleft had yet another weapon in their already big arsenal, ready to unleash upon the unsuspecting and quite dismissive opponents in the International Basketball Championships.

And Abanhfleft sprung their first trap against Kirisaki. The country was basically the successor of Abanhfleft's sometimes rivals Mizuyuki, and as expected the Kirisakians fielded the all-female lineup that they always field in international competitions. Whereas foreign observers and even some Fleftic fans and pundits believed that Kirisaki's more naturally tall lineup would dominate the game, it actually went the other way around, with the short Riuwiee Five making short work (pun half-intended) of their opponents. Of course, early on it was Kirisaki that had the advantage, and they even managed a ten-point lead with five minutes left to go in the first quarter. But slowly and steadily, Abanhfleft chipped away at the lead until things had gone level at the end of the first quarter.

It was at the start of the second quarter that Abanhfleft unleashed themselves. Led by the indefatigable Leo Baxter, the Fleftics took the lead and never looked back beyond that moment in time. Dylan Kapowski and Newton Isaacs were impressive in the paint, racking up dunks and layups left and right and against all common sense. Jan Harris and Leo Baxter were similarly dangerous outside the arc, while Boris Barry took care of everything in between.

But it wasn't all just the starting five who did all the work. The credit for sixth man of the game definitely belongs to Damian Gonzalez, the naturalized center originally from Argentina who featured heavily in Abanhfleft's earlier campaigns in the IBC, and was kept in the new squad because the Fleftic government and basketball federation had already invested a lot in him. Compared to the rest of the players Gonzalez was an absolute tower both in defense and offense, and the team passed to him whenever he had a decent and open shot at the basket.

But if Gonzalez was the sixth man, then Greg Mankiller might just be the seventh man. The small forward who plies his trade as a young journeyman in the Fleftic Basketball Association (FBA) also contributed to a decent share of the action in the game, and he sank the two free throws that really put the game away for the Fleftics. Once the final buzzer had sounded, coach Abdul Halim bin Osman, the freakishly tall head coach of the new team, could be seen pumping his large fists in the air in celebration of his first ever win as a coach, and the national team coach at that. He was the one who was responsible for picking the Riuwiee State Five for the starting lineup of the new team, and the gamble had paid off very, very well.

As Leo Baxter walked over to Abdul bin Osman to celebrate their win, the comparatively tiny point guard heard the retired center say the words often associated with The A-Team. Once Leo was within speaking range, he said, "Yes, sir, I do love the feeling too."

"It's worked, for now," bin Osman said. "But the other teams now know what we're capable of, and they won't be as easy to surprise after this. But you'll be able to handle them all, right?"

"Of course, coach," Leo replied. "We keep playing like this, and the championship's as sure as ours."

"Get your head in the game, Sam! You're embarrassing the North!" shouted Tori Gunnarsson, towering over the smaller point guard. Samuel Ateljevic was having a nightmare game and that wasn't helped by the fact that there was no chemistry with this team.

"And right now you're making Atlas look pretty bad and I haven't said anything," replied Samuel, angrily heading toward the sideline for the timeout.

"You'll have room to complain when you're the one with thirty, thirteen, and seven," replied Tori, stating her scoreline. The game was almost over and it seemed that everyone from Northern Armeia wanted to get off the court as soon as possible, after a second straight blowout.

"Back off, Tori, we all have bad games," sighed Tamara, Tori's best friend, who played college ball in the same suburb as she did. "Some have more bad games than others..."

"You know what? I'm out. If nobody else is going to put in effort and push to keep these games close, I don't know why I should risk my Atlas career to keep playing," Tori sighed, walking to the locker room.

"Hey! Wait!" shouted Alois Feldt, the shooting guard who was now on the bench. He ran after her, following her to the locker room. "You can't just walk off like that..."

Tori sighed again as she hung up her jersey. "Look, Alois... You're a good kid, you're going to go places someday when you turn pro... But the rest of the team is putting in so little effort, I don't know why I should bother with this."

Alois turned and walked back towards the arena. "If that's how you feel, fine... But don't be mad when nobody on the team will pass you the ball next game."

The following is an exerpt from Anaconda Athletes Magazine, a bi-weekly magazine that focuses on Frenline Delpha athletics.

International Teams in Full Swing

This is indeed a busy month for Frenline Delpha international teams. First, the Frenline Delpha men's soccer team will be heading to Santaclausisgodistan for the sixth edition of the Runner Cup. Coach Samuel Snaker Jr. has given us his thoughts on the upcoming tournament, "We need to jumpstart our offense after our disgraceful showing at the World Cup qualifying. We need to work on getting good shots on goal. We also need to capitalize on corner kicks and setpieces. Our defense is looking good as always. Look for us to make a deep run in the Runner Cup." Will, they make it through to the finals, or will they get knocked off early? Tune in later this month to find out how the national team does.

The basketball team is getting its first taste of action on the international level when they travel to San Jose Guayabal for their first International Basketball Championships in Frenline Delpha history. The squad is being led by Coach Tamithy Greenwell. She gave us a private interview a couple weeks before the team left for the tournament.

The following interview was conducted by Fredward Farmhand towards Tamithy Greenwell.
Farmhand: How are you guys preparing for your first international (basketball) showing?
Greenwell: We have been doing a lot of passing drills in order to gain some chemistry between these players. I think our shooting is on point, and we have a lock-down defense. Our onlybig problem is boxing out. I hope that doesn't negatively affect us.
F: How did you decide who would represent Frenline Delpha in the IBC?
G: We took top prospects from our colleges, and we picked up a couple great county league players from aroung the nation.
F: And how did you find those county league players?
G: We sent out scouts all over the country, looking for great amatuers. We found some, and they were invited to join the international basketball team. After we held try-outs, we narrowed it down to our current 12 players.
F: What is your game plan once you get to San Jose Guayabal? How do you plan to handle the #2 seeded Saintland?
G: We just need to focus on one game at a time, and we need to keep up our solid defense. If we can keep up our defense, we should be able to win games.

The third sport going on this month is baseball. The national team will be heading to Sai tland for the World Baseball Classic. Frenline Delpha is looking to make a large run, after making it to the round of 16 last year. Frenline Delpha is ranked 29th according to the WBC rankings. There is a lot of pressure mounted on their shoulders, but Frenline Delpha should be able to pull together a great run that could lead them to the semi-finals and beyond. Only time will tell.

Natanians and Nosts lost the two first games of the IBC 18.It's our first, but our group is amongst the easiests. The first game, against Patistan. The first quarter was boring(Patistan 97x71 Natanians and Nosts),I watched the Patistani team open a 22 points difference(24x2) in the first quarters,I thought, well we played,so now we can go home, but I was wrong, ten seconds later,Públius steals the ball,he passes to Ion Victor who just throws softly the ball and scores three points! That quarter ended 26x7.
The second quarter started with Ion Victor stealing the ball, and making an slum dunk(which is not too hard or impressionant when you just got to be on your tiptoe to do that),our team reacted immediately, starting by Públius' three points.Ion Carolus and Públius leaded the team's offenses, with that quarter ending Patistan 38x32.The third quarter was marked by amazing three points shoots from both sides,Patrick scored 4 times(12 points on total),but the most amazing was the deffensive area three points throw of Ion Victor.Mihai Márius appeared to be injuried when he suffered a hard foul, but the exams he made after the game showed that was nothing but a painful cramp. The Patistanis tried to open more advantage, but our team were better, that quarter ended Patistan 68x59.
In the fourth quarter their team started to play as great as in the first quarter, our team made 68x64,but we just scored again in the end of the match, when it got 97x71,for them.

Cruenatian Sports Tonight!

Postby Cruenatia » Wed Aug 26, 2015 12:50 pm

The following is an Interview conducted by Reporter James Hanson with Assistant Coach Joshua Smith at the Michael De Gea Memorial Stadium in Sapinta, Cruenatia.

James Hanson:Good afternoon Cruenatians! I'm here with Assistant Coach Joshua Smith on his take against the upcoming opponents of Ack Barnes. How are you feeling to day Coach?

Joshua Smith:I'm feeling good, it's a beautiful day out here in Sapinta as are spending the day getting ready for the next game.

James Hanson:Well, it's been a good start so far after your huge win over Kaboomlandia. Your next match up is against Ack Barnes, another unranked team who were defeated by Kaboomlandia yesterday. Does this add any extra confidence to the team?

Joshua Smith:We are taking every game seriously. No team is going to be underestimated and nobody is going to have a big head walking onto that court. We have been paying very close attention to the match itself and we believe we've got a good chance of winning the match if everyone does their part.

James Hanson:There has been some speculation that there will be a slight change in the line-up due to an injury received during training late last night. Is there any truth to that?

Joshua Smith:The rumor came about after there was a Youtube video of Joel Carabolka getting blocked by Ezekiel Jackson, both of whom play the Center position. The video went viral pretty quickly and hence the rumor was born. There will, in fact, be no changes to the starting line-up and Carabolka is at perfect health and ready to start tonight.

James Hanson: Well that's good to hear. So how does Cruenatia feel about the performance of their Team, specifically their All-star Captain, Jones?

Joshua Smith: The guys are bringing a lot of popularity to the sport at home. Before the tournament, Basketball was in the far back burners behind Football, Soccer, and Competitive Paintballing. Now, fans are excited for the sport and have really rallied behind their team. Jones has made himself a household name for basketball fans in Cruenatia. Now he's reached a whole new level of popularity in the country. He cracked the top 10 of Marco Brelli's "Players to watch" list and has lived up to all of the hype so far.

James Hanson:Very nice. So how is it working with Jeremy Mccoy and Daniel Koslov? You and Mccoy have a history together leading Sentinels to domestic glory for the first time in their history, but Koslov is a newer addition. Some have said he is very difficult to work with, how would you describe him?

Joshua Smith:Jeremy and I are really good friends going way back to college. We work very well together and know exactly how the other operates. Koslov has blended in quite well with our team. His expertise on defense has really been a huge impact on our team and has really improved our players. I'm not sure how he has been on other staffs, but he has been extremely easy to work with. He's very laid back and tends to only speak when he knows exactly what he's talking about. He's a very cool guy and I don't like this nasty reputation he has surrounding him.

James Hanson: Alright, final question. Do you think Cruenatia has a shot making it all the way to the playoffs?

Joshua SmithAnything is possible. The guys are motivated, the fans are backing us, and we are ready for anything. We're just taking it one game at a time so we'll see how we fair out against Ack Barnes and go from there.

James Hanson:Thank you for your time, and good luck tonight.

Joshua Smith:Thanks for having me.
