Tourist Guide
Welcome to Star United States

Welcome to the land of diversity! The country of Star United States is composed of five districts, which are known as Estrall, Herbeid, Piasxe, Opangue, and Starix. City of Star stands proud as the Starian Capital. Diversity can be found from the small forgotten streets in little towns to the busiest market streets in primate cities, be it food, the people, of the languages. Here in the Starian lands, the most common languages are English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and are spoken throughout the whole region. Portuguese, however, is more common and known on the Starian Islands. There are seven beautiful islands in the West Esportivan Ocean that are known as: Alegria, Ilha do Sur, Ilha Central, Paz, Ilha Recife, Sorriso, and Ilha do Norte. It should also be noted that the official religion of the country is Christianity.

New Wolfopolis Wolfpack - National Football Team
Captain: Nicholas Pollard
Style Mod: -1

(4-4-2)
Image
NIcholson allowed 27 goals in 14 games during World Cup 68 Qualifiers, just less than 2 per game on average. With the Wolfpack being barely more defensive than offense, he, and the rest of the defense are going to have to step up their game if they want to qualify.
Image
Carlisle is the least notable of the defenders, but still able to come through and make a tackle when needed. Carlisle has been training and has improved since the last World Cup, and that resulted in him keeping his starting spot.
Image
Oconnell is the most fundamentally sound defender on the squad. He was key in stopping many goals last Cup, and definitely will be instrumental in the gameplan for the Wolfpack this time around.
Image
Lim is a good defensive player, of course, but he has a bit of a temper. He is very good at making unnecessary physical plays, often resulting in penalties. He picked up two yellow cards in the last World Cup Qualifying stage, and he'll have to be much more careful this time around. Nevertheless, his feistiness gives him a certain intensity on the playing field, and ultimately, makes him a better player.
Image
Clement, around the world, would be classified as an average defender, but the Wolfpack don't have much to work with, so he is a starter. He's nothing terribly special, but he'll make plays when necessary.
Image
Pollard, the captain of the squad, is gifted. His talents are unlike any others on the squad. His brain was made for football. His instincts are unparalleled. He plays for Jaunepont Hérault in the Northern Sunrise Islands, the first player on the Wolfopian squad to travel abroad for club play. Bottom line, he is a skilled footballer, and his skills will be crucial for the Wolfopian side.
Image
Bob Good is one of the fastest players on the team. He almost always covers more ground than anyone else. His kicking could use some work, but his speed is always a presence, and is key to him making so many plays.
Image
Walker is notable for his skills at intercepting passes. His best skill is reading the player's eyes to know where he'll pass the ball. Walker will need to intercept quite a few passes and be at the top of his game to help the Wolfpack advance.
Image
Cormier was an attacker in the last Cup Qualifiers, but now will be playing a more defensive midfield. He was quite uncomfortable in an offensive role, and is more used to his current position. Hopefully he can settle in and help the Wolfpack.
Image
Pendleton will be key this World Cup Qualifying. He needs to be able to help out and be helped out up front. He and Spears need to be able to play off each other, mix it up, confuse the defense, and score the max amount of goals.
Image
Spears is the best short range shooter on the team. He was responsible for 6 of the Wolfpack's 20 goals last Cup Qualifiers. He plays on an Yttribian club team, FC Olivera. His striking skills will be crucial for the Wolfpack, but he may need to step up his goal scoring potential.

Gylian national football team

National information: Available on iiwiki.

Background

The national football team of the Republic of Gylias has historically had a rather limited international sports presence due to its gender-neutral roster, as the team absolutely insists that it will either be allowed to play as is or it will not participate in an event at all, which has led to it boycotting several international tournaments. Its experience consists mainly of frequently scoreless friendly matches, though it has participated in the Tyran Cup since independence, winning in 2000 and coming second in 2014. It also participated in this year's Baptism of Fire 57, coming in last in its group, and in the 70th World Cup, coming fifth in its group.

Gylians are known for culturally regarding sport as an opportunity for enjoyment above all else, and refusing to acknowledge the competitive aspects. The national football team is no different, as its players are drawn from local football teams which never play in tournaments, but instead only play friendly matches, completely ignoring winning, losing and even scores in order to focus on having fun. Gylian players are known for a near-perfect record of good sportsmanship, having only very rarely received yellow cards due to accidents, and for frequently interacting and engaging in friendly conversation with their teammates and the other team's players on the pitch while playing.

As a secondary effect, the Gylian team's carefree playing style has given it a highly erratic record in international tournaments and a reputation for quirkiness that has often enchanted audiences due to its contrast with the regular competitive approach of other teams. This was famously expressed by Shalumite commentator Antoon Heijman's remark, "The Gylian team seems to be either amazing or awful, and nothing else in between."

The standard Gylian playing style is mainly inspired by the total football practiced by the Dutch national team in the 1970s and the tactical innovations of the Hungarian national football team in the 1950s. As such, the Gylian national football team has no fixed formation, and instead uses a fluid lineup whereby every player on the field except for the goalkeeper freely switches between multiple roles and positions, emphasising flexibility and cooperation over specialisation.

During matches, the team is also known for frequently playing at a slower pace, engaging in friendly banter with each other and casual conversation with the opposite side, and are known for indulging in eccentric actions for their own amusement, such as spontaneously turning a match into a moment of volleyball through headers and high passes, or attempting to kick the ball at the end of a roll simply because "it looked cool". In reference to this, former team manager Lausidh Zynlae remarked, "The most important thing is that our matches are never boring."

The team's shirts are white with a golden line running through the middle, regardless of whether they are the home or away team. If it would be necessary, they request that the Gylian national anthem not be played before a match in order to avoid depressing the audience.

Kits: White T-shirts with a golden line running through the middle, whenever they feel like wearing them. Their kits do not have numbers on the back, just the players' full names in large type.
Style: 0 (balanced)
Formation: Total football - no fixed formation

The position of goalkeeper rotates among all members for each match, and the roster is also changed for each match. Every half-time, the Gylian team will make two substitutions to rest players and give backups a turn on the field, ensuring that all members play as equally as possible throughout a match or tournament.

NEPHARA
Preferred Formation:
4-4-1-1
Secondary Formation: 4-4-2
Style Modifier: -1
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell. Capacity of 88,000, no attached club.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

Dominant in qualifying, not even letting a shadow of a doubt pass overhead as they breezed their way into first with thirteen wins from fourteen matches. It's not for nothing that Nephara are dark horses to win the whole damn thing. Great goalkeeper, great defence, great midfield... a striker. And a manager who seems for all the world like a rough diamond being polished by every match as it comes. Nephara was the first Esportivan nation to get as far as the quarterfinals and now hopes to better that feat - and with what looks convincingly like the best set of Cormorants ever, there's no time like the present.

Overall Record
195 wins - 37 draws - 61 losses
600 scored - 345 conceded

Honours
Champions of the 51st Baptism of Fire, the 6th, 8th and 10th Campionati Esportiva, the 61st Cup of Harmony, Eagle's Cup 5 and Market Cup 6.
Qualified for World Cups 67-68 and 70-72.
Quarterfinalists in WC68 and WC71 - the first Esportivan to make it that far.
Ranked 6th in the world.

First Team and Tactics

Riether's favoured formation will be a 4-4-1-1, with a big man up top to hold up the ball and an attacking midfielder behind, with two banks of four and an emphasis on overlapping wing play. The hope is that Kellard, skilled at playing with his back to goal, will hold up play and bring the midfield into the attack - meanwhile, the defence starts from the front and is tighter than ever at the back. So far, it's worked a charm. Physical and powerful, the Nepharim are always looking to impose themselves on the game. The first of many backup plans is to bring on another striker, quick poacher Kurtis Quinn, but Riether is versatile and prides herself on always having something up her sleeve.

*** One per match.

Theresa RIETHER - 47
Manager
Appearance
Lean, weathered and with a slight but noticeable limp. Angular face, sandy blonde hair. Tends to wear a dress shirt and tie while pacing around the technical area.
Summary Ultra-competitive and priding herself as a tactician, Riether shows a refreshing lack of the wobbles and inconsistencies that have marred Nepharim teams of years past. She'll guarantee wins over the weak teams and might get a result against the strong ones, too - and now the players' belief in and respect for her is absolute. Aims nothing short of bringing forward a Golden Age for Nephara.

Portia THRIFT - 48
Assistant Manager
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome. Solidly-built.
Summary Elevated from coaching staff, Portia Thrift is a familiar name on Nepharim rosters, just more often seen with a number 1 on her back. Nephara's first great goalkeeper, playing deep into her thirties for Crisisbless, then for Riverside in Saugeias, and winning 78 caps along the way. An iconic player for the Cormorants, and a real leadership figure in the dressing room - she's been there and done that on just about every stage but the World Cup itself.

Franziska RENSENBRINK - 27
Whip
Appearance
A tall, lean woman with sharp features and close-cropped chestnut hair.
Summary Rensenbrink, one of the many daughters of NFA President Markus Rensenbrink, unsurprisingly took a while to win the trust of the staff and players. That said, she's managed to firmly become one of the fixtures of the team. There are limited rumours that her bond with Catheline Stockinger is very strong, whether platonic or romantic - whatever the cast, they're certainly seen together a lot.
1 - Diandra BALLARD - 30 - Image FC Endeavour
62 caps, 24 clean sheets
Appearance
6-foot-even, strongly-built brunette, hair kept long and braided.
Summary It's now or never for Diandra Ballard. The best goalkeeper Nephara's ever produced, a truly world-class shot-stopper... and yet she's never quite reached those heights while playing for the national team. With Caravella and Seward waiting in the wings, Ballard has to step it up, and when she does show glimpses of her club form - and she has, at times - she might well keep Nephara in a game single-handedly.

12 - Isadora CARAVELLA - 27 - Image FC Brimstone
7 caps, 2 clean sheets
Appearance
5'9", greyhound-thin, lean face and light on her feet. Olive skin and wavy black hair, cut short.
Summary Somewhat notorious for her very late declaration for Nephara - rejecting a callup two years ago to pursue her options with Yttribia, for whom she qualifies as a second-generation immigrant. When no options were forthcoming thanks to the younger, roughly equal in quality and actually Yttribian Totso, Riether persuaded her to make the right choice. A step below Ballard in terms of quality but with the same general skillset as a shotstopper, though she lacks the strapping Treasoner's strength. Played in two World Cup games thanks to a Ballard red card - couldn't do much about Kandorith, but looked solid against the Blouman Empire when called upon.

20 - Seb SEWARD - 31 - Image Sabrefell Athletic
1 cap, 1 clean sheet
Appearance
Lanky sandy blond with a small, ferretty face.
Summary Seward's pure reflex and speed are his greatest assets. While not exactly an imposing physical presence, he's out of his box and on you like a flash - and that's without mentioning his shot-stopping capabilities, which are strong in their own right. Reasonably consistent as well, with most errors coming down to shaky handling.
2 - Sasha CHRISTENER - 25 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Right-back
40 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome. Wouldn't look out of place on a pin-up.
Summary Rightback has, historically, been a problem position for Nephara. And then, after winning her position from Rhein during qualifying last cycle, kept Aitor Jovellanos quiet for most of ninety minutes. The sleek, languid, graceful Christener is still young, and her best attributes tend to be her attacking runs, but finally Nepharim fans can look to the right of Belfast and feel secure.

3 - Catheline STOCKINGER - 28 - Image FC Brimstone
Left-back
70 caps, 6 goals
Appearance
5'5" and greyhound-thin, olive skin with short, straight, dark brown hair.
Summary On the pitch, Stockinger is an ambitious, highly professional young woman who's taken a leading role in this current Cormorant side with her darting runs, her electrifying pace and her great work ethic. Off the pitch, she's courted some cameras - first for an anxiety attack days before the final of the Eagle's Cup which she went on to be the best player on the pitch for, then for (probably) sleeping with Brenecian midfielder Catherine Purrington during the Campionato Esportiva. Has become a fan favourite largely as a result of this. "Cathy Stockinger, she shags who she wants!"

5 - Hadrian BELFAST (c) - 33 - Image Dwile Warriors
Centre-back
144 caps, 7 goals
Appearance
Powerfully-built man with wavy chestnut hair. Light peppering of stubble - an electric razor man, not a clean-shaver.
Summary It's unfortunate, but true - Hadrian Belfast is set to turn 33 before the World Cup, and already the slight signs of personal decline are starting to show. But class is permanent, and that's important when you were once considered the best defender in the world - peaking in winning a Player of the Year in the Apox National League, remarkable for anyone, let alone a centre-back. An inspirational captain, strong in the arm, precise in the tackle and generally putting himself in the right positions, Belfast is going to start matches. The only question is, what partner can do the job?

6 - Daniel KRUSE - 25 - Image Firewood City
Centre-back, left-back
14 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome. Lean, long-boned build.
Summary Soft-spoken and calm under pressure, Kruse is highly-rated but yet to truly break through in a green shirt. Still, he's almost certain to get his chance at some stage. Cultured and intelligent, Kruse nevertheless has had his share of fighting through adversity. His experiences with struggling LigAnaia side Firewood City have, while painful, been personally enlightening.

17 - Malachi ROSEWOOD - 23 - Image North Laithland
Right-back
5 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Tanned blond, 5'7" and all lean muscle. Generally wears a black headband.
Summary Surplus to requirements at Maximum Rovers, Rosewood found plenty of suitors but just one that would give him the first-team football he needed. As it happened, he excelled at North Laithland, his pace and stamina gelling well with the energetic Spiders. Well-rounded and with a slightly violent streak, he's got a fair shot at shaking up the fairly static-seeming rightback slot.

19 - Kieran RITTER - 24 - Image Bastion
Centre-back
16 caps, 1 goals
Appearance
5'10", stocky and sandy blond.
Summary "Describe yourself in a sentence," a local journalist asked Ritter upon his arrival to Eura - the Nepharim U-21 fairly obscure on those shores at the time. Ritter grinned. "Not afraid to get my hands dirty." And so he's proven, the rough-tackling, hard-talking and endless-running centreback giving all the virtues of desperate defending to regular play. He's everywhere, and his studs are in everyone. With Belfast approaching his twilight years, Ritter needs to get used to that green and black shirt. Fast.

22 - Calliope KATSKALIDIS - 23 - Image AFC Treason
Centre-back, defensive midfielder
13 caps, 1 goals
Appearance
5'11", swarthy and with short, thick, wavy hair. Scar on one cheek.
Summary Given a chance to shine and the number 6 at the Campionato Esportiva, Katskalidis played every game but didn't quite convince, and after a chastening season at club level might well have it all to do again. Has all the physical gifts one could ask, and a hard and precise tackler, but not quite with the mental strength or decision-making one would hope of an international defender.
4 - Logan MURDOCH - 29 - Image RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS)
Holding Midfielder
62 caps, 11 goals
Appearance
Tall, athletic sandy blond, with an angular face and a prominent, hooked nose.
Summary Half-Licentian and born in the immigrant-heavy suburb of Violence, in Sabrefell, Murdoch is the sort of player who keeps the midfield ticking over with blue-collar grit and work ethic. Not afraid to get stuck in, Murdoch excels at unsettling opponents and throwing his weight around, and he has a knack of arriving late into the box and powering headers past unsuspecting goalkeepers. Despite the recent mass exodus from the Polar league after the recent storms, Murdoch honoured his contract and refused to agitate for a move away.

7 - Brendan RIVERS - 27 - Image Bengtsmark IF
Right Midfielder
28 caps, 6 goals
Appearance
Tall, muscular brunet, well-tanned and with sharp cat-green eyes.
Summary A tough Laith native, and it shows in his play. Rivers excels at breaking down the right and hitting those early crosses, but he has a good, well-varied skillset and a tendency to work just as hard to defend as he does in attack. Less of a threat when shooting from distance, he's occasionally happy to drift in at the far post for a cheap header - unusual for a winger in that he's happier on the receiving end of a free kick than taking it.

8 - Elaine ASHDOWN (vc) - 26 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Central Midfielder
52 caps, 16 goals
Appearance
5'8" of sleek, lean muscle, with black hair cut to the shoulder.
Summary One of the leading lights of recent history, Elaine Ashdown has gone from strength to strength. An all-rounder who devotes everything to the team with good pace, limitless stamina, two good feet, decent strength, genuine tenacity and football intelligence, a fine tackle, an eye for goal and a spectacular passing range make her an essential part of the team, first name on the sheet every time. To nobody's surprise, designated vice-captain.

11 - Andrea CAWDOR - 23 - Image Crisisbless United
Left Midfielder
11 caps, 4 goals
Appearance
5'3" and lithe, with dark brown shoulder-length braids.
Summary Unchallenged master of the 'knock ball past full-back then run after it' strategy, Cawdor is a shock inclusion to the qualifying squad and few expect her to make the World Cup. Used to playing on the left wing of a front three with unglamourous but attack-minded Crisisbless United, Cawdor is perfectly two-footed and moves quickly, incisively and unpredictably.

13 - Tanya BOTTLEGREEN - 27 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Midfielder (Either Wing)
39 caps, 11 goals
Appearance
A runner's lean build, with a pale complexion and very dark brown-black hair and dark green eyes.
Summary Able to play on either wing, Bottlegreen's a quick, incisive sort of player who's enjoyed remarkable success in the Premiership at a young age. Has only flourished further with a move to the LigAnaia, and has thrived for the national team despite just 27 caps. Rather unlike her swashbuckling persona on the pitch, Bottlegreen tends to be quiet and professional off it, and shies from the cameras.

14 - Rutger LOCKE - 29 - Image Tannenberg FC
Central midfielder, attacking Midfielder
84 caps, 22 goals
Appearance
Handsome with a decent tan, a tall, lean physique and short sandy blond hair.
Summary The most expensive Nepharim player in history, Locke's national career has nevertheless stalled under Riether. Capable of playing in a midfield four (which he once did with Logan Murdoch for Violence Chariots, to great - almost title-winning - effect) Locke's natural gifts of pace, power and incisive passing come to light further still in an attacking midfield position, where he'll be expected to compete.

16 - Rook BRANAGH - 24 - Image Lajuno
Central Midfielder, attacking midfielder
7 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
Average height, weight and looks, livened up only by a peroxide-blond undercut.
Summary A Chatswood trainee, Branagh has spent his entire senior career to date in Eura. A familiar pattern, it seems, and he's started out well. Any doubts as to his capability were broken during the Campionato Esportiva, where he played well in three appearances and even managed a goal to his name.

18 - Nikita LUNDGREN - 27 - Image Chatswood
Holding Midfielder
5 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Just 5'3", somewhat stocky, with dark hair and pale skin.
Summary Some more maturity has definitely helped Lundgren's career to flourish, but she's more of a depth option in the stable of midfielders Riether demands. Still, the versatile Chatswood midfielder won't disappoint with her endless energy and quick bursts of pace. No real weaknesses in her play beyond her obvious lack of aerial threat.

21 - Rowan GAWAIN - 27 - Image Sabrefell Athletic
Attacking Midfielder
15 caps, 6 goals
Appearance
Pale and cleanshaven, with chestnut hair and a small Celtic cross tattoo on one cheek.
Summary Rowan Gawain's one flaw has always been that he needs support in midfield, and he's only ever looked comfortable playing in the hole, besides. But as Riether recently said, "you have to craft a national team around the players available to you," and to leave out Gawain again would be a tragedy given his recent form. He genuinely does have everything as far as attacking gifts go - perfect passing range, a knack for scoring goals and a penchant for dictating the tempo, keeping the ball moving as the runners around him need it. Not exactly a pushover, either, and more than capable of bringing traditional Nepharim muscle to the party.

23 - Brigid KESTREL - 26 - Image Fligsive FC
Left midfielder, leftback, central midfielder
21 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
An easy-going freckled redhead, fairly slender.
Summary Immensely versatile, Kestrel can leverage her very accurate passing at all ranges, her pace and her work-rate at virtually any position in the bottom-left quarter of the pitch. An eventual breakthrough into the first-team was inevitable, but Kestrel's likely to primarily be cover - able to play left midfield, left-back and the holding role in central midfield, her versatility is ideally suited to the gruelling pace of the World Cup cycle. "She's the perfect tournament player to have," Riether once told a press conference with a smile.
9 - Michael KELLARD - 25 - Image Emberton Reds
Striker
19 caps, 9 goals
Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered, rough-looking man with auburn hair and heavy stubble.
Summary A big lad up top, strong and rough and very comfortable playing with his back to goal. Prefers to finish his chances himself, all things equal, but he's unselfish when he has to be and makes an ideal target man up the top. A Project +90 graduate, Kellard has never been shy of trying new things, and jumped at the chance to play for a Krytenian club in the LigAnaia. And at least now that he's left the Moths the incessant Gerhard Thunder comparisons can stop...

10 - Kurtis QUINN - 28 - Image AFC Treason
Striker
38 caps, 23 goals
Appearance
Just 5'8", with a wiry but sturdy build and short blond hair.
Summary A favourite for club and country, Quinn has won plaudits for his scoring prowess in the Premiership. Built on sheer pace, energy, a leap like a salmon and an instinctive way of finding the goal, Quinn's short frame defies the fact that he's as much of a threat aerially as on the ground, and he'll get goals from either avenue. No great technician, doesn't add to other phases of play, but when Kurtis Quinn is on the pitch, goals happen. That said, not so much of a lone striker - it's possible he might be out-of-favour if Riether, as expected, favours a 4-4-1-1 formation.

15 - Sigmund LEVY - 27 - Image Vermillion Rage
Striker
7 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
A mulletted, moustached mountain of a man. True old school.
Summary A depth option, but a useful one to have. Levy is... well, he's 6'7". Not the best technically or with his feet, nor is he quick - but he'll stand his ground against anyone and is happy to lay chances out for strike partners rather than demanding them all himself. Definitely capable of getting goals and laying on assists, but is perhaps not an international-quality striker.

National Football Team of Schottia

World Cup 72

Manager: Barry Gorman 47

First Team Coach: David Chettwell 63
First Team Coach: Max Linellan 42
Gk Coach: Norman Davis 40

Team info

Again Barry Gorman has opted for a fairly settled side, in a bid to take his players to the finals for the first time. As a team Schottia have made steady progress under the 47-year-old's guidance, climbing slowly through the world ranking to 66th. The White and Greens now find themselves third seeds for the first time, and will feel that they may be within striking distance of reaching the play-offs.

Some of the newer recruits to the tiny island nation include, Kim Coultan, Gareth Souter, Jenna Koemann, and Thio Crillin. Although Jottar Kallsmudden number ten Coultan has been in the squad before, this is the first time she is expected to command a starting berth. Souter is the latest in a long line of DBC 33 graduates, and the teenage centre-back will be looking to show the manager what he is capable of, if he is given the chance. Jenna Koemann is something of a shock inclusion to the side, and the young woman who plays in the Fleftic league will need to prove her doubters wrong, if she is called into action. Finally Crillin, who received his first cap in the last CoH is one to watch for the future. Once the big midfielder manages to establish himself in the first team, there is likely to be no going back for him.

Coming into an otherwise settled back five is BW Pallstadt's Larry Watt. The player who impressed us so much with Marionville and in his time in the U-21's is finally given his chance to star alongside Messrs Hanlon, Okywä , and O'Brian. Watt and O'Brian will marshal the right and left wings respectively, looking to get forward and support the attack whenever the opportunity presents itself. The central-defensive partnership of Darren Hanlon and Chris Okywä will likely remain intact, with Hanlon's technical ability a good foil for the Soessch man's pace and strength. The hopefully solid defensive line is completed by team captain Lucas D'Araby, who brings some experience, as well as a dependable pair of gloves between the sticks.

In the case of injuries, suspensions, or a drop in form, Gorman may look the versatile Jack Gordon, Holin's Chris Jack and John McCann to fill in.

The midfield will be anchored yet again by Fadrön Flight's Jon Fotan, and depending on dips in form, the towering figure of Gary Corsie. Fotan is the deep sitting playmaker, and last line of defence, while Corsie will do much of the fetching and caring, looking to break up the play. In front of them Kim Coultan Eoin Killanen and Gaston Avelione will combine to give Schottia an attacking emphasis. All three of them, but particularly Avelione, have an eye for goal. Killanen brings a raw physicality, combined with some more subtle technique. Coultan is a two-footed, cultured midfielder, who despite her tender age has the ability to stamp her authority on the game. Finally Avelione provides the main goal threat in the side, and as the top goal scorer in three cycles now, he will yet again be the one to watch.

On the bench Gorman is spoiled for choice this cycle. The manager can look to the likes of Seggerson, Crillin, and Mark Kelman for the central spots. Along with wingers such as Joey Bia, Craig O'Maramy, Chloe Rudden, and Lachlan Frazer, should he want to change things about.

Spearheading the attack will be FC Hill Valley's Mark Allen. The powerful striker might be upfront alone, however, he will get no shortage of support from the three advanced midfielders, as Schottia will look to attack at every opportunity.

There are also two very capable understudies on the bench. Both Soesch's Bruno Schwartz and Porty's Paul Coine have scored goals at international level, and will be on hand should they be required.

The kits for this cycle have been designed by AER Sportswear of Gloriax, replacing the previous strip worn in World Cups 69 and 70. This new design has got replica shirt sales rocketing, featuring a predominantly black away strip for the first time.

Squad
The starting line up displayed here is probably the most likely eleven to play, however, if you are PRing feel free to read the player descriptions and make a few changes. Also you can check my most recent post in the RP tread to get some more up to date information.

1. GK Lucas D'Araby, 32 Image Handon United Height:190cm Weight:84kg (c)
One of Schottia's problems in past tournaments has been the defensive lapses, however, none of this could be blamed on team captain D'Araby. Since joining Handon United as a youngster, he has become one of the country's most decorated players. Big, Strong, and dependable between the sticks, he is one of the players in this side who is a certainty to start. There is no one on the team for whom qualification would mean more to than the experienced keeper.

15. RB Larry Watt, 22, Image Blau-Weiss Pallstadt, Height: 180cm. Weight: 75kg
Following a big move to Buyanese team BW Pallstadt, Watt has gone on to establish himself as a first team player for Schottia. He earned the move, following a series of excellent performances for both his old club Marionville, and the DBC winning Schottia side. He is a good all-round right back, fast and strong, and more than able to bring the ball forward to join the attack. He is widely regarded as the player who will occupy the wing back slot for many years to come.

3. LB Darren O'Brian, 24, Image King's Park Height:178cm Weight:71kg
Following a highly disappointing season at Kings Park, where the club failed to finish in the top six of the SPL for the first time in eight years, O'Brian will be desperate to prove himself. He has been in the senior set-up in Schottia for five years now, and despite being a left-winger, he has made the left-back position his own. There have been a few well-documented cases, where he has slipped up defensively, however he makes up for it with his attacking skill. His pace and ability to support the forward players, is crucial to how Schottia play.

22. CB Darren Hanlon, 23, Image VfB Brandenberg Height:188cm Weight:84kg
A former Schottia U-23s captain, his breakthrough into the first team would have come as no surprise to many of the fans. Boasting a wealth of technical ability, and still young for centre-back, Hanlon has been an important player for VfB Brandenberg since signing for the Vyrsarian club. This is now his second cycle in the Schottic starting line-up, and many will be expecting this to be his tournament.

5. CB Chris Okywä, 28, Image Soessch Height:183cm Weight:84kg
Fast becoming one of the elder statesmen of a squad increasingly swelling with young talent, Okywä is an important player for Barry Gorman. Second now only behind D'Araby in the starting line up in terms of caps, he brings valuable knowledge to the side. Although occasionally a bit of a bomb-scare at the back Okywä's strength and athleticism are not to be messed with. He is often regarded as the joker of the team, and is very popular in the dressing room.

6. CM Gary Corsie, 23, Image Fineberg Flockers (On loan at Image Marrionville) Height:190cm Weight:80kg
Corsie is a player with the ability to blow hot or cold. On his day, the Marionville man is one of the best players in the side, however he has been pulled up by sections of the press for a "stinking attitude." On a good day the 15 million pounds midfielder is a box-to-box player, with strength and stamina to match even the top players in the world. However, on a bad day he is lazy, seems unwilling, and as good as a man down. He recaptured some form last season, back on-loan at his hometown club Marionville. Corsie had previously been forced to put his contract with Edomite side the Fineberg Flockers on hold following the outbreak of a civil war.

11. CM Jon Fotan, 24, Image Fadron Flight Height:177cm Weight: 80kg
Now established in the Taeshani League with Fadrön Flight, the 24-year-old is one of the higher profile players in the squad. His form with New Belfast Warriors won him much praise in the media, as well as a vast amount of caps for his country at a young age. After gaining most of his caps playing on the left, he is now back in his preferred position of central-midfield, where he runs the show in this side. Fotan is a great passer of the ball, and is trusted with the set-piece responsibilities. He also has an incredible shot on him, matched only in the side by Gaston Avelione.

10. AML Gaston Avelione, 29, Image Handon United Height:195cm Weight: 84kg
Avelione is the player everyone in the squad looks for to produce something special when required. His goals and assists have been a major factor in Schottia's rise up the world ranking in the last few cycles. It's no secret how highly manager Barry Gorman rates the Handon United man, putting his faith in him time and time again. With pressure mounting on Gorman to make the play-offs this time round, he will be praying his faith is rewarded. The North Islander, is blessed with incredible pace and skill, he also has the ability to score form almost any angle around the 18-yard-box. Avelione has been the team's top goals scorer in the last three sets of qualifiers.

18. FC/A/CM Kim Coultan, 20, Image Jottnar Kallsmudden Height:160cm Weight:52kg
From the fringes of a side in the second tier of Schottic football to one of the stars of the side, which finished third in the Buyanese Top League. Coultan's journey over the last two years of her life has been a rags to riches story. The 20-year-old DBC winner became the first woman to play for the senior team when she was capped in the Cup of Harmony two years ago, and has since gone on to establish herself in the first team. Small in stature even in terms of the other female players, Coultan relies on speed and agility to out-fox the opposition. Good on either foot, she is best known for her crisp, one touch passing and her goal scoring abilities.

19. AMRLC Eoin Killanen, 21, Image FC Zurich Height:176cm Weight:70kg
Now really coming of age, Schottia's DBC winning captain is one of the out and out stars of this World Cup Qualifying squad. The FC Zurich man was outstanding as his side lifted the title in Starblaydia, and has since replicated that form for the national team. The former Lammerton wonderkid has in the past been accused of being too selfish, however, this is something he has worked had to rectify. Killanen is similar to Coultan, in that he can play anywhere in the midfield. That said, he is perhaps more comfortable just behind the striker, where he can get more opportunities on goal.

21. FC Mark Allen, 25, Image FC Hill Valley Height:191cm Weight: 81kg
It has been a hard battle for the Hill Valley man to establish himself as the number one choice in the coveted loan-striker role. The former Port Sebastian man was the Schottic League's top scorer before he departed for the Adiran club. If he is sometimes accused of being lazy and reluctant to chase back, he makes up for it with his strike capability, and vision in front of goal. He has been the preferred man up-front for two seasons now, but failure to qualify again, may see pressure begin to mount.

Substitutes

13. GK Chris Gonzaö, 24, Image Port Sebastian Height:202cm Weight:85kg
The Port Sebastian 24-year-old has been forced to bide his time, in his long stint as understudy to D'Araby. Despite performing will in the occasional friendly match, it has been impossible of him to force his way into the first team reckonings. More that capable when called upon, there is little doubt that he will be a suitable long-term replacement when the time comes. In the meantime at least he gets a good view of the matches from the bench.

14. CB. Gareth Souter, 19 Image Sporting Cenial Height: 188cm. Weight: 79kg
Since making his debut for Handon United aged 18, there has been a feeling that Souter could be a special player. After leaving the club to join up with Cenian side Sporting Cenial, he has impressed Barry Gorman with a string of good performances. He helped his club to fourth in the league last season, and was named fourth best defender in the league in the process. Souter is a strong player, who takes the game very seriously. He has a good footballing ability and is comfortable on the ball, meaning he can play in midfield if called upon.

4. CB John McCann, 31, Image Handon United Height:191cm Weight:82kg
While first choice centre-back of the previous administration, McCann has had to settle for a spot on the bench in Barry Gorman's side. That said, he is a more than capable player, with bags of experience, and will no doubt feature heavily during the qualifiers. He is vice-captain for his club Handon United and has proven himself to be a sting and solid defender, if not a bit of a blunt instrument.

2. RB Jack Gordon, 31, Image Handon United Height:181cm Weight:73kg
A versatile and highly adaptable defender, Jack Gordon has been an important player for Schottia in their rise up the world rankings. The Handon United full-back can play either side of defence and can fill in at centre-back if required. He is a good solid option at the back, and has the pace to get forward and support the attack.

16. R/LB Jenna Koemann, 24, Image Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, Height: 170cm. Weight: 68kg
Looking to become woman-number-three to receive a cap for her country, Koemann will provide cover for the left wing back position. The 24-year-old, who plays in the Fleftic League is no stranger to international set-up. She featured for the Schottic Woman's side, which reached the quarter finals of the last Olympic games, and has been called up to the DBC squad. Koemann left MPL side Cornellians to join Ludogorets Markovsky two seasons ago, in a bid to get regular first team football.

24. RLD/M Chris Jack, 23, Image Hollin Height:186cm Weight: 80kg
Jack's main attribute is his versatility. The Holin wide-man can play right or left, defence or midfield, making him a great option on the bench. He is most likely to feature at right-back however, and will compete with Larry Watt for the starting berth. Jack is a good natural winger, who is more than capable of playing at this level, however, he probably needs to a bigger club to further his career.

23. RM Craig O'Maramy, 22, Image New Belfast Warriors Height:177cm Weight: 62kg
Craig O'Maramy has been absolutely outstanding for New Belfast Warriors this season, helping them lift the Schottic title. A Di Bradini Cup winner, he more than has the ability to come on and make a difference for his country. Although he faces stiff competition for the right midfield role, his flat out pace is something that none of the other players can offer. At the outset of the tournament he looks set to be just behind former U-21s teammates Coultan and Killanen in the pecking order, but this may change.

25. R/LM Lachlan Frazer, 23, Image Strangers FC (MPL) Height:181cm Weight: 65kg
The young winger recently left SPL side Marionville, to join up Strangers in the MPL. With pace and skill in abundance, Frazer will be hoping that his run in the Mesillan side will help him work his way into Barry Gorman's first team plans. The 23-year-old has featured for Schottia at U-21 level and has received one senior cap in a pre tournament friendly last year.

7. AMR Jonathan Bia, 18, Image Port Sebastian Height:170cm Weight:72kg
Despite his tender years, Bia has already established himself as a valuable member of the Shottia team. A big player for his club Port Sebastian, he was part of the same title wining side as Corsie, Coine, and Allen. He is a left footed right-winger who always looks to get forward and help out the forwards. He will no doubt appear a far bit during world cup 72, and he represents a more attacking option coming off the bench.

25. CM Thio Crillin, 23 Image Myrmidon Height: 188cm. Weight: 88kg
Since joining Cenian side Myrmidon just before the last world cup, the DBC winner has gone from strength to strength. The former Holin man has helped his side to second in their domestic league, scoring his fair share of goals in the process. A highly rated central-midfielder, he adds to his manager's headache, as Gorman is forced to chose between five good players for the same two places. Crillin has always made a name for himself has being something of a no nonsense player. He is likely to be brought on when Schottia are looking to steady the ship.

8. CM Mark Kelman, 25, Image Cornellians FC Height:181cm Weight:76kg
It has been a long journey for Mark Kelman, in his quest to realise his early potential and win a senior cap. After starting his career at Handon United, he failed to force his way into the first team and had to look else where for a regular slot. After three good seasons with Port James Athletic he won much acclaim and was signed by Cornellians for the inaugural MPL tournament. Since joining the Eagles, Kelman has won the MPL Cup along with helping his side to second and third in the league respectively. Kelman is a great all-rounder, a solid midfielder, who combines the fetching and carrying side of the game with an attacking impetus.

17. CM Alfred Seggerson, 25, Image Handon United Height:181cm Weight:79kg
Alf Seggerson has made a big impression so far, playing for his adopted nation Schottia. The skilful attacking midfielder, who has been signed for Handon United since he was sixteen, was granted a Schottic passport just before the last World Cup. Since joining from Kloithian side Amothsborg Fishermen, he has established himself as one of the leagues top players, and takes the free kicks for his club. Gorman seems to see him just behind Fotan and Corsie in the pecking order, much to the annoyance of some fans, who would like to see him in a regular starting role.

12. LM/F Chloe Rudden, 18, Image North Laithland Height:172cm Weight:60kg
Chloe Rudden set the Women's Super-League alight in Schottia with her pace, skill and goal scoring. The Jet-heeled winger was so impressive that she won a move to North Laithland in Nephara. If the charismatic teenager is able to take her scoring form at youth level into the senior set-up then she will be a massive hit with the fans. Picking up two caps in the last Cup of Harmony, she became the second woman to play for her country. She is most likely to be brought on late in the game, when her pace can trouble the opposition's tired legs.

20. FC Paul Coine, 27, Image Port Sebastian Height:183cm Weight:81kg
Although it never worked out for Paul Coine in terms of international starts, he has been an important player coming off the bench. The Port Sebastian man has a good work rate, and is excellent on the ball. His goal scoring in the Schottic League has been very consistent over the past few seasons, making him reliable reserve for the national team. Coine can play as a striker, or in the attacking midfield role.

9. FC Bruno Schwartz, 27, Image Soessch Height:191cm Weight:85kg
Like Coine he is famed for his work rate, and his great hold-up play with his back to goal. Schwartz is an old fashioned number nine, who is strong in the air, quick across the ground, and dangerous in the 18-yard-box. The FC Soessch player generally shares the striking responsibilities with Mark Allen. The only criticism brought against Bruno Schwartz is that he needs to add more goals to his game at international level.

Formation and tactics

Image

Barry Gorman will no doubt go into the tournament with the same attacking mentality as world cups 69, 70, and 71.

Schottia are a very fast, physical side, who play a direct form of counter attacking football. Neither winger normally operates on their natural side, and therefore they often take up more central positions to cut in and shoot. For this reason the team relies heavily on attacking wing-backs to contribute width to the team. This usually means Schottia are a tricky side to defend against, however, it can lead to them being caught out at the back. The job of the two central midfielder is to protect the back four when their side is under pressure, but also to act as an outlet, using strong running or accurate passing to get the team out of danger. Schottia's three attacking midfielders all like to shoot from distance, so the loan striker has to be alert and quick enough to feed off the scraps provided from deflections and bodged clearances.

Harbour Hill Stadium
Location: Handon, South Schottia
Capacity: 55,000. Including some safe standing sections.

Schottia is a small peaceful nation best know for its progressive social policy and whisky distilleries. The country is located in the region of Tyran off the west coast of the Northern continent, and has a diverse population of 6.6 million. Schottia has a temperate maritime climate, with warm wet summers and mild winters. The nation gained its independence in 1866 and has been self governing ever since.

Handon is the capital of Schottia and home to around 1.1 million people. The predominant language spoken around the city is English or Scots, but most of the population are also fluent in German and French. The city itself is located on the ester most tip of South Schottia, the largest of the five islands which make up the Free Colony. Harbour Hill is situated in the centre of the city near the quayside area, and is easily accessible by bus or tram; the latter being the most common way to get around the city.

The architecture of Handon is largely mixed, with some buildings dating back to the 17th century, contrasted with more modern 20th and 21st century structures. Harbour Hill was recently revamped adding a closing roof and safe standing features. The stadium, in some form or another, has been the site of Schottic home games since 1903 and has witnessed some of the great matches in the region's history.

Handon has a huge range of hotels and apartments for anyone staying in the city, however locations near the stadium tend to fill up quickly around match days. There is also plenty to do in the evenings after the games, with Schottia's legendary pub-culture always a draw, not to mention a list of top restaurants serving food from all over the region.

Barunia's National Football Team

Everything you ever wanted to know about Barunian Football History

Cup of Harmony 62 runner-ups, World Cup 71 quarter-finalists...the Barunian Suns are on a roll, and looking to push even further in World Cup 72. With a ranking back inside the top 20 and a fearsome line-up, expectations in Barunia are high for this incarnation of the Suns. Questions, however, have been raised about the lack of retention from the last cycle - Leigh Robinson and Kassandra Berry are the only debutantes who return. The newcomers, though, are expected to provide some excitement, especially Lisa "pocket rocket" Collins-Holzknecht, who has been wowing crowds all across the country as she led the Cougars to the X-League. The midfield is well-stocked, and many of these players will be interchanged, with Marsh and Bubble even expected to spend some time in the forward role.

Sam Winton, who was named interim captain during Cup of Harmony 62 and stayed in the role for World Cup 72, is not expected to be on the field for all games and so becomes vice-captain instead. That leaves the door open for Paul Bainbridge, arguably the best goalkeeper in Barunia's history, to take the captain's armband.

Head Coach: Joric Ruskin
Joric Ruskin played just seven international games in his footballing career, but he is still regarded as a legend in Barunian Sports. The Sun's captain during his career, Joric led them to the quarter-finals of the Baptism of Fire. In the Sun's inaugural World Cup campaign, Joric played just one game before departing the team suddenly. It later transpired that he had left to join the Socialist army in the civil war. His career as both a footballer and solider came to an abrupt end when he lost his legs in a grenade attack. Now confined to a wheelchair, the former defender for the Marion Hawks has found a new career as a football coach. His first campaign as coach saw him guide the team to their first world cup qualification (WC67), before following it up immediately with a second. While his job was in danger after the rocky campaigns of 69 and 70, the Cup of Harmony performance saw him gain a reprieve, which he seized with both hands by returning the Suns to the World Cup in 71.
NB: As is typical of football teams in Barunia, the Suns do not have a manager. The Coach is responsible for managing the team.

Stadiums
Sun Stadium (National Stadium of Barunia), Porthaven - Capacity: 95,000
Ground will host: Kirisaki, Atrua, Vermark
Sun Stadium was built on the site of the old United Stadium, however it is not a renovation but a completely new building. Located in the national capital of Porthaven, Havenia state, the stadium was designed to be the home stadium of the Suns. This is evident in the seat patterning, which represents a yellow sun in a blue sky, and the golden "sunburst" roof. The stadium is multi-purpose too, creating a vibrant sports hub for the capital. During the World Cup, a party atmosphere will descend on the grounds around the stadium, as the national stadium will host the biggest match-ups of the tournament.

Memorial Stadium - Capacity: 100,000
Ground will host: Ceni, Welcomzia
It's been a long time coming for this upgrade to the Marion Hawk's home stadium. Originally intended to be named in honour of Hawks legend and national coach Joric Ruskin, the stadium name was changed at Ruskin's suggestion to honour all those who fought in the civil war. Memorial stadium is located in Edwardton, the capital of Marion state, and is shared by both the Marion Hawks and Edwardton Eagles, which has led to the nickname "The Birdcage". One of the newest stadiums in Barunia, Memorial stadium was built by Kytlerian company BNW Varin and features a retractable roof, 90,000 seats plus terraces, plenty of room for foreign media and large movable screens at the back of the top tier.
Image

Sam Garcia Field (Northport Sports Complex) - Capacity: 43,000
Ground will host: Emperor Pudu, Ingla Terra
Located in the city of Northport-San Baptise in the Northern Islands, this ground is the sacred heart of Barunian football. Located near the place where people first came to Barunia, San Baptiste island is considered the place where football began in this country. It's a ground known for firsts, hosting all home matches during the Suns inaugural World Cup campaign (due to it being the only safe ground during the civil war) and is the home of the San Baptiste Sea Lions, the first Barunian Football League championship team. Named in memory of former Sea Lions and Suns goalkeeper Sam Garcia, who died in a ferry crash that claimed hundreds of lives.

National information.

Located within the West Pacific, Port Christopher is an unincorporated state of the Free Colony of Schottia. The nation is home to just over 1,000,000 people, the vast majority living in the City of Port Christopher. The small country is home to a diverse population of various ethnicities and backgrounds. Port Christopher has an extremely high population density especially around the coastal areas.

The colony was established as a trading post in 1879, when the then, United States of New Scotland, were looking for a way into the West Pacific market. The wealthy polyarchy of merchants swamped to Port Christopher in a bid to take advantage of this situation.

At the time the USNS government came under heavy criticism for their treatment of the native population. Many of whom it is believed had their homes destroyed and were either sold into slavery or died from disease and hunger as their fields were dug up for cash crops. General Lewis Home-Christopher, whom the colony is named after, is still a controversial figure in Schottia today for the methods he used in securing the area.

The Port Christopher merchants quickly became some of the richest in what were the beginnings of a New Scottish Empire, taking over from where the previous administrations had left off. The new colony flourished along with the USNS at this time and was another hub to new enlightenment and developments in science, education, literature and philosophy. The City of Port Christopher became the Empire's second city and one of the richest Tyranan ports.

Squad information.

Despite having its own domestic league for a number of years, Port Christopher has never fielded a national team in a competitive fixture. Previously they have competed in the Schottic Regions Cup, and traditionally players who opted to play for Port Christopher would not then be called up to the Schottic national side. That said, since residents in Port Christopher carry Schottic passports, there is technically no criteria for what constitutes a Christopheran citizen. To those ends an agreement was written up where by a definition would serve for purposes on the national side.

Port Christopher are currently managed by Willox Street Pirates boss Jimmy Mitchel, who has been in charge of the club for six seasons. Mitchel is likely to go with the same tactics, which have served him well at club level, operating a 3-5-2 formation. Pirates’ players are expected to make up the back-bone of the team, and no fewer than seven of the twenty-thee man squad play for the league champions.

Port Christopher's fans will have been pleasantly surprised by their teams showing in the Baptism of Fire, battling their way out of a tough group to finish third. Score lines like the 5-1 win over Santaclauseisgodistan have shown the side is capable of pulling out the results, however there is no doubt that they will struggle against more established sides. This time round expectations are unlikely to be very high, at most the team will be hoping for a respectable showing in the qualifiers. That said, sneaking a win against Schottia would be great for the bragging rights.

---The Squad---

GK: Carus Laxium, 27 Willox Street Pirates Height: 192cm Weight: 87kg
Laxium is strong and reliable keeper with many years of experience in Christopheran League. Not a native of the state, however after nine years living in the country, he qualifies for this inaugural Port Christopher side.

CB: Xavier Paulos, 32 Willox Street Pirates Height: 183cm Weight: 79kg
A wise, experienced head, at the heart of the defence. Paulos is a tried and tested defender, and has won multiple league titles with his club the Pirates.

CB: James Del Vertio, 31 Sarrburgh Town Height: 180cm Weight: 75kg
James Del Vertio is widely regarded as the best defender in the Christopheran league. He is a composed individual, and distributes the ball well.

CB: Robert Wessel, 26 New Dundee Star Height: 190cm Weight: 88kg
One of New Dundee Star's Wessel twins, he and his brother Moritz are a mainstay of their club. The sons of Schottic North Island migrants, they have lived and played in Port Christopher all their careers. Robert Wessel is a big goal threat coming forward for set-pieces.

CM: Diego Bandos, 26 Willox Street Pirates Height: 177cm Weight: 74kg C
Captain of the team, Bandos is a quick and dynamic player who combines silky passing with robust tackling. He has been branded as the poster boy for this squad, and will have to handle the weight of a nation's expectations on his shoulders.

CM: Elisa Rivera, 25 New Belfast Warriors Image Height: 167cm Weight: 63kg
Sarrburgh Town have never quite recovered from the loss of Rivera when she left to join Schottic side the Warriors. She will probably play in the most advanced role of the midfield-three, and is great with the ball at her feet, a short crisp passer of the ball.

CM: Miller Icacic, 24 Kelsy Merchants Height: 182cm Weight: 79kg
One of the more surprising names in the squad, but he has had a great season with his club the Kelsy Merchants. The central midfielder is a tall and athletic player, who is not afraid to shoot from distance.

LM: Tim Maitfield, 23 Willox Street Pirates Height: 179cm Weight: 77kg
Maitfield is your typical right footed, left sided midfielder. He is most effective with his head down running at the defenders with pace. He scores regularly for his club, cutting in of the left and unleashing some ferocious strikes.

RM: Moritz Wessel, 26 New Dundee Star Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg
The other half of the Wessel twins, Moritz is very different form his brother. Tall and lanky he lacks his Brother's power, but he is a potent player in his own right. Capable of playing anywhere across the midfield his best position is just behind the strikers.

CF: Franz Müller, 27 Willox Street Pirates Height: 185cm Weight: 77kg
A cultured striker who has been at the sharp end of football in Port Christopher for a decade, since joining from Schottic side FC Soessch. He is a player who combines traditional number 9 qualities with a broader skill-set.

CF: Tony Uist, 22 Blue Coast 1981 Height: 179cm Weight: 76kg
The league's top goal-scorer, who simply could not be ignored in this first squad selection. Uist is a third generation Christopheran, a local lad and immensely popular in his country. Blue Coast are already having problems warding off interest in the player, this tournament is likely to make that even harder.

---subs---

GK: Donald Gordon, 26 New Saint Johns Height: 185cm Weight: 80kg
Many might count him unlucky not to be in the starting line up, Donald Gordon is an agile and fast keeper.

RB/M: Anderiz, 21 New Saint Johns Height: 169cm Weight: 67kg
The Saints defender is the only wingback in a side, which plays a 3-5-2. Anderiz has won a huge list of admirers with his performances for his club.

CB: Lara Dixon 25, Willox Street Pirates Height: 179cm Weight: 70kg
A regular first team player for the Pirates, Dixon may have to settle for a place on the bench in this tournament. She is a little different form the other defenders, and offers a bit more pace.

CB: Baxter James 30, Hollin Image Height: 196cm Weight: 89kg
A giant defender, James is one of only two members of the squad who play outside of the Super-League.

RM: Jose Almedro 25, New Saint Johns Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg
Tall, powerful and lightning quick, Almedro is someone who can be brought on to influence the game if things aren’t going to plan.

LM: Tom Popescu-Black 22, New Saint Johns Height: 183cm Weight: 76kg
A teammate of Almedro, Popescu-Black is one of the most highly rated midfielders in the league. He qualifies to play for Port Christopher through his maternal grandmother.

CM: Hector Berg 24, Sarrburgh Town Height: 189cm Weight: 81kg
Some will have been surprised to have seen him starting on the bench, however this is perhaps down to his club's lowly league position. A tall, powerful, holding midfielder, Berg is also capable of some more subtle play.

CM: Dietmar Koenig 26, New Dundee Star Height: 180cm Weight: 76kg
Like Berg, the Stars captain will perhaps be disappointed to have to settle for a spot on the bench. Everyone will be expecting to see him feature heavily though, as his skill and passing ability are legendary at his club.

ACM: Aredhel Neil 22, Blue Coast 1981 Height: 164cm Weight: 87kg
A complete midfielder, Neil is one of the more exciting prospects in this Port Christopher squad. She impressed fans by turning down an offer to play for the Schottia U-21 ones just before DBC 32, opting to stick it out when rumours of a Christopheran national team were in the air. Her and Blue Coast teammate Tony Uist, are two of the most exciting players in this squad.

CF: Jim Reid 36, New Dundee Star Height: 187cm Weight: 84kg (squad-C)
Despite being capped for Schottia at U-21 level sixteen years ago, no one has been more instrumental in setting up the Port Christopher national team than Big Jim Reid. A powerful, no nonsense striker, he has been given the honorary title of squad captain.

CF: Ross Jameson 23, Kirston Eagles Height: 178cm Weight: 75kg
Jameson is heading of to join New Dundee at the end of the tournament. The 23-year-old got everyone talking with his goals for Kirston Eagles, helping the semi-pro side to a respectable league finish.

CF: Jack Kent 25, Willox Street Pirates Height: 193cm Weight: 78kg
Normally the strike partner of Pirates teammate Franz Müller, Kent is expected to make a massive impact in the team. His height is a huge threat from freekicks and corners.

Associated Godlands National Soccer Team

Name: Associated Godlands National Soccer Team
Nickname: The Obeyers
King: God
Head Coach: Queen Shirley Phelps-Roper
Assistant Coaches: None
Style Modifier: 0

History

Associated Godlands has always harbored a passion for the game, but the most organized play that existed was churches playing against one another. However, the Associated Godlands government has recently decided to take a more vested interest in soccer, starting with entering the World Cup. In Associated Godlands's first ever international match in the Baptism of Fire, 50,000 followers made the long trip to Star United States to see them play out a 0-0 draw against Recuecn. Associated Godlands then scored their first goal and earned their first win in the next match against United RussoAsia, a 3-0 victory. They followed that up with a dominating 4-0 win over Helmon to finish first in the group and make the knockout stages. Unfortunately, they didn't last long, falling 5-1 to Port Christopher in the round of 16. But fans are still optimistic about Associated Godlands's chances in the upcoming World Cup.

Associated Godlands also has a rich history outside of soccer. The nation was established 2015 years ago when The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born and cast His glow over previously dark, barren lands. He made these lands, now called Associated Godlands, burst with life. Associated Godlands has been a paradise ever since.

ICELFA Roster for World Cup 72 (qualifiers)

Demonym: Eastfielder

Eastfield Lodge is a pretty glorious nation, somewhat situated in Northern Rushmore - in reality, there's a very small island (acting as a transport hub) which hosts a portal linking the NSverse to a small bubble universe, wherein the rest of the Imperial Commonwealth is located (barring a couple of nations, but they’re linked up in other ways). The IC part describes the fact that there are several empires contained within one superstructure – divisions which are somewhat reflected in the convoluted league structure.

Those of you who know this nation well however will wonder what has happened to the Whoniverse (the universe of Doctor Who, the TV programme). Don’t worry, I will (hopefully) RP what went on. To those who don’t know, this nation used be in the NSverse, but due to the acts of a lone madman from The Holy Empire (mad, or pitiful, the legends are a bit shaky), Eastfield Lodge almost vanished from existence, leaving behind a small island (now in Rushmore), attached to a portal connecting here to the Whoniverse. Things happened, the portal became unstable, and we had to form a bubble universe, and as a result, the resulting temporal shockwave both wiped out all electronic records, and did some weird stuff to people’s ages (hence why some names in the team may seem recognisable).

Anyways, because of the initial portal, whilst humans are the overwhelming majority of the populace here, don't be surprised to find several other races and much advanced technology here. Some more historical information can be found here, in lieu of a factbook (NB: a lot of the information there is inaccurate though, TG me for clarification).

Back to the nation itself, Eastfield Lodge is probably the best place to live in the entirety of Rushmore, according to the WA at any rate. Amongst the accolades heaped upon are: Most Compassionate Citizens, Most Beautiful Environments, Happiest Citizens, Most Dedicated Public Healthcare, Healthiest Citizens, Least Corrupt Government, Longest Average Lifespan, Lowest Crime Rates, Nicest Citizens, Largest Public Transportation Department, Safest, Smartest Citizens, Most Popular Tourist Destinations, Best Weather and Largest Welfare Programs. Also of note is the fact that, in a region containing Saintland, Eastfield Lodge is the Most Devout nation, with Islam being the national religion, and that we have the Highest Police Ratios, so do not be alarmed by the sheer number of police officers.

Lodger City Memorial Stadium
Location: New Lodger City
Capacity: 150,000
Description: The home of Eastfielder football, the stadium was built on the ruins of the old capital of Eastfield Lodge, Lodger City, which was flattened in a double disaster (severe floods from dams bursting and an explosion from an unknown source, killing much of the population of the city and rendering the city useless. Administrative functions were transferred over to Lodgertia, the city began to be rebuilt, and it was decided that this stadium would be one of the monuments erected in place. The inside walls contains inscriptions of the names of all the dead – just under 9 million. The stadium currently plays host to the two classic giants of EL football – RGS Athletic and VLC FC, at least until both have their new stadium plans approved. For the purposes of ‘fairness’ (with the rest of the league), the attendance is limited to 100,000 for league games, but is maxed for the cup games of both sides, and the final is played here as well.

Parliament Stadium
Location: Lodgertia
Capacity: 80,000
Description: The second largest stadium in Eastfield Lodge, behind the Memorial Stadium in New Lodger City, it was built in the centre of Lodgertia, the capital of Eastfield Lodge, and the Imperial Commonwealth. It was named due to the fact that the Parliament is based just a few hundred metres down the road; in fact, the original stadium was actually joined to the Parliament building, as an area where MPs could watch or even engage in sport with the public, as well as being a designated protest site. However, with Lodgertia becoming more built up, it was decided that the stadium needed to be built up as well. It is home to Lodgertia United and Lodgertia City alongside being temporary hosts of RGS Athletic and VLC FC (when Lodger City was being rebuilt), and in the past has hosted several international matches, including the final of SBCC 27 and a group in both stages of Market Cup 4.

Schedule:
MD3: The Holy Republican Empire @ Lodger City Memorial Stadium
MD5: Stellonia @ Parliament Stadium
MD7: Lons @ Parliament Stadium
MD8: Buyan @ Lodger City Memorial Stadium
MD9: Callagea @ Parliament Stadium
MD11: Cosumar @ Lodger City Memorial Stadium
MD13: Torisakia @ Parliament Stadium

Manager: Lowell Brown
Age: 51. Manager of Seaton Town, Brown is known in Eastfield Lodge for being one of the fairest and impartial managers in the top flight - if his team were lucky with a decision, he will not claim otherwise. Has managed on the international scene previously, being put in charge of both the men’s and women’s Olympic football teams, featuring most of the players selected for the qualifying campaign.
Coach: Shabeen Ahmad III
Age: 56. He went down in Eastfield Lodge history as having scored over 200 goals for the EL national team (a record that will stand for a long time since all other records since then have been wiped). Still an inspiration to everyone and even at this age his skill is noticeable, even if his agility has waned. He has been the main offensive coach for several World Cups now.

Dominique Lamy (Age: 28, F, Club: Walston Brook Albion, Position: CB)
Abdur Rehman (Age: 22, M, Club: RGS Athletic, Position: RB)
Robyn Summers (Age: 27, F, Club: Olympia FC, Position: RB)
Darlene Finn (Age: 25, F, Club: Norrion Rovers, Position: LB)

Tia Drenas (Age: 21, F, Club: RGS Athletic, Position: ST)

Formation: 4-1-2-3
Image

The formation is a weird variant on the classic basic 4-3-3. Here, there is the one holding midfielder, and the other two are pushed up to play just off the ST as attacking midfielders, whilst the WFs are also slightly tucked in from a usual position. This allows them more of an equal choice of either cutting in or going out wide for the cross, which may be met by the other winger or one of the midfielders. The front five can drift to other positions at any time, just to keep defences on their toes. Defensively, the AMs will drop back and slightly out wide or into the middle as required, and are decently proficient at dispossessing the ball and using it well. The DM is mainly there to guard the defence, and is adept at picking out a pass (short or long), and helping to dictate plays. The CBs are as standard, but the FBs are given the freedom to roam forwards as far as they can get away with, and more often than will get involved in attacking plays, with some crosses from both deep and closer in.
In terms of goal scoring, the ST will get the bulk of the goals, with good contributions from both the AMs and the WFs as well. The WFs will get most of the assists, followed closely by the AMs, then the ST and DM.

Starting XI:
GK: Veronica Puppy

RB: Abdur Rehman
CB: Dylan Bell Jnr
CB: Charlie Richardson
LB: Darlene Finn

DM: Dennis Jagger
RAM: The Doctor
LAM: Waleed Saqib

RW: Georgina Wadimu
LW: Roman Qwivotic
ST: Thomas Graham

Give out yellow cards to my players: Y (maximum five, TG me with a reason for more)
Give out red cards to my players: Y (only one more than the number given to your team, maximum of three - i.e. I get two red cards, you must have at least one)
RP injuries to my players: Y (Maximum 3, no career-ending injuries without my explicit permission - TG me if you want to RP injuries longer than 3 MDs)
Godmod injuries: Y (within reason)
Godmod scoring events: Y (Have fun.)
Godmod other events: Y (TG me if you're planning on killing anybody though, or anything really extreme.)

If I do RP, I will include the line-up for the next match in my RP post, along with any suspensions/injuries. If there is no line-up, look through my posts and check for current suspensions/injuries, but otherwise it’s fine. Also, if you're RP'ing any part of my match, please use the full name Eastfield Lodge at least once, it helps me find the RP.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

Stadium
Image

The crowning jewel in The Sarian is Home Covert, home to the most successful team in Sarian History, FC Chippenham who have won both the Super League and the Florican Shield a record of five times. Seating just over eighty-two thousand spectators, Home Covert is the largest stadium in the archipelago. Due to the stadiums size, versatility and unique architecture the stadium has been used many times in international events , including the premier Beltane Cup final, and the Third Place Playoff of the 57th Baptism of Fire.

Home Covert was erected in 2127 and was designed by architect, Kieran Karsh. Karsh, whose other works include the Beltek Tour in Lavington and more recently Salvador FC's Poseidon's Palace, which is of course in Port Salvador. The stadium was designed to represent the might and continuing prosperity of 2120's Sarian, and many years later it is still viewed as one of the best looking stadiums in the federation.

Home Covert is found in the Central District of Chippenham, meaning that it is easily accessed by both the underground, overground and capital bus service. Commute by car, while possible, is not encouraged due to the high congestion and high road tariffs in the former capital.

The central location of the stadium is beneficial for travelling fans, being just seventeen minutes on the Overground from Chippenham Central Airport, with a direct train. The location of the stadium also means there is a wide range of accommodation for fans, officials and players alike. Ranging from cheap SariMotels, which have rooms from as little as ɨ7 a night to the luxury branded Maiden Hotels, which cost considerably more.

Tourist attractions around the stadium include Parliament Square, Pitaluga Street, Hopton Palace and the Chippenham Eye, in addition to a number of museums, retired Naval Vessels and impressive skyscrapers that mean you can indulge in both Sarian Culture as well as the culture of football, and even make playing The Sarian part of a longer holiday, rather than just popping over for the match.

Style of Play: The Augusticinian Attacking form of play is often a Slow Build-up form of play but during ending minutes it may change to more of a counter-attack style. The Augusticinian Defending form of play is often a Block-Defending style. The Augusticinian Team uses a slow methodical style of play.

Travel Guide for Teams: Bring your Passports! Augusticinia requires passports to get into the match and to get into the country. Weather can be from 78-92 degrees farenheit. Do not speak about religion publicly though Augusticinia's love to speak about politics in public. Augusticinian People and Players will shake your hand. They do not accept anything else such as fist bumps or high fives. Do take the underground rail system. Also, Augusticinian's like referees and will get mad if you get angry at a referee. Do not insult the Emperor or State Officials. Augusticinian's do not typically show if they find something funny. Ask an Augusticinian to teach you some of the Augusticinian Language. It will make them happy.

APOX WORLD CUP 72 ROSTER

Manager: Gavin Hughes, Aged 44
Assistant Manager: Jorge Guardia, Aged: 40
Style: -1

Spiel: The last three tournaments have been dubbed "successes" by the AFB, and, to be honest, it's fair to see why. Runners-up in CE12, then reaching the round of 16 last World Cup, before a credible third placed finish last CE. Could it be that Apox, a nation seen as always underachieving in international competition, has finally come of age? Well, there are plenty of young players coming through this cup, and with a good balance between them and the more experienced players, it feels like Apox could really go out and achieve something this time around. However, there is definitely a bit of a change in the side, with several key players over the last few years dropping out of the Starting XI - with Ettie Seabrooke, Armando Quillisi and Tolgus Tregajorran all watching much of the action from the subs bench this time around. All three were unbelievably skilled internationals at their pomp, but now there are younger, hungrier players ready to take over. Tolgus Tregajorran, in particular, is incredible - breaking the goals scored record, only the second Apoxian to gain 100 caps, winner of pretty much every medal - apart from the big one. Well, it's a target certainly. Let's focus on getting there first though.

About Skarosbrekka and the Brekkish National Team

Skarosbrekka - Trigramme: SKB, is located in the northwestern zone of Esquarium has a population of about 513,200 inhabitants and an area of 504,402 square kilometers. Because of its location on the north geological ridge of Esquarium, it is a country with great volcanic and geological activity; This factor greatly affects the landscape of our Brekkish territory. Much of the area near the coast (200 kilometers inland) and 35% of the country consists of a plateau characterized by mountains, abandoned landscapes and glaciers, while many glacial rivers flow to the sea through lowlands. Due to the combination of certain weather events in the area, Skarosbrekka has a moderately cold weather regarding their latitude but not an extreme weather that may affect the living conditions of the country.

The first human settlement in Skarosbrekka dating from 600 BC when, according to the "Tilkomu bók af Skarosbrekka" or "Book of appearance" Hafsteinn Muninnsson leader became the first permanent settler on the island. Other sailors, as the viking Ástvin Ástolfursson, possible discoverer, visited the island around the year 610 BC to pass over winter. However, they never established a permanent settlement there. Over the following centuries, human groups of Nordic origin settled in Skarosbrekka. Until the twentieth century, the population of Skarosbrekka depended on fishing and agriculture, and from 1093-1723 AD was a feudal kingdom. In the eighteenth century, in the middle of the eighteenth century it became a republic, a situation that has kept the country's political system, economy and society steadily, becoming a reference in the area that aspires to more. Nowadays, Skarosbrekka has a mixed economic system, which combines the best conditions in terms of social welfare, market economy, and a relatively low index in terms of taxes compared to other nations in Esquarium due to their good profits at oil extraction and fishing activities.

The Brekkish National Team, a relatively new nation in sporting terms, especially football, a sport that attracted the attention of many people in our nation since Guayabalense tourists came to Skarosbrekka two years ago (1995), who decided to take two stones on each side of the pitch as "goal posts" and took a ball they brought to play, drew lines in the sand of an empty outside the capital of Skarosbrekka, Salteyraross, symbolizing the lines that a normal football pitchhas, the locals decided to join just for curiosity sake and this is how the first football game was played in Skarosbrekka where visitors e-mailed the rules of football and also promised to return to create a governing body of football in Skarosbrekka, which recently was created in February this year (1997), creating the Skarosbrekka Fotballforbund, which is determined to promote football in Skarosbrekka and promote the professionalization of the sport.

Those Guayabalense tourists the reputation of being the ones who brought to this corner of Esquarium won the world's most beautiful sport, a sport which has seen a group of 25 people have been chosen to go to San José Guayabal (Esportiva) in order to become football professionals, these same 25 players chosen by their different physical conditions such as high and also taking into account their speed, endurance and physical strength, which are essential to have experienced players in this Ilddåp Mesterskap 59 (Baptism of Fire 59) that can make an excellent debut in an international competition, just three months after starting to play in a professional team of San Jose Guayabal, the CD Millonarios, which is composed exclusively of Brekkish players in order to promote unity among the group of players and make them stronger psychologically against their challenges at the Baptism of Fire and the upcoming Verdensmesterskapet-kvalifisering. Key for roster: 1: Skarosbrekka is a mixed team composed by women and men, in order to make the sex distinction easier, Brekkish language has patronymics and mother name is used, especially in cases in which the mother wishes to either make a statement or wishes to break as many bonds with the father as possible, but these aren't the only reasons. It's also possible to have a different surname, one which doesn't follow the patronymic system. This usually happens when somebody from a different culture marries somebody in Skarosbrekka, but like choosing the mother's name, it could have many other reasons. In resume the suffix -sson is used on men while -dottir is used on women.

2: All the Brekkish squad plays in the same club, CD Millonarios of the fourth division of San José Guayabal.

National Info: The Unified Sunrise Islands are, in fact, the religious union of many countries whose names have Sunrise Islands. According to the Liro d'Arceus, a book where the religion of Arceusism is based after; the Sunrise Islands were formed by Arceus to guarantee peace and order. At one point, however, those rules ended up being forgotten by a good portion of the people, so Arceus sent Pokémon to carry its' word. After a brief while with both creatures coexisting, they all came to a term and the Sunrisians then became the people to carry the word of Arceus and follow its' principles.

At first, there was only one Sunrise Islands, known as the Northern Sunrise Islands. They are the most memorable name among the Sunrise Islands and also the one responsible for most of its' accolades. However, that doesn't exclude the other Sunrise Islands, all generated by other PokéDeities who, bored and inspired by Arceus, decided to take a try and create their own pieces of land on different realms. It wouldn't take long for almost all of the Sunrise Islands to end on a secondary realm, where, after the Kirigiri-no-Mikoto incident, all Sunrise Islands ended up joining the realm of the Northern Sunrise Islands. As a result of how out of hand the situation became, there is at least one Sunrise Island for each direction known to any being, even Up and Down; though reports say that they once considered having an All-Around, but that would sound "like a plan of a Spinda" and the closest to that are the Ferris Wheels still on existence at the Sunrise Islands.

Sunrisians mostly use English as their main language, seeing as most of the countries involved, for some rather helpful coincidence, all speak English with some other language but considering most of the Sunrisians have a thing for foreign culture, it's not rare to see that some weird group of people speak your language, even if it's way hidden and original and full of diacritics. In the end, the Sunrisians are a peaceful bunch, only getting to arms when really needed. They consider Pokémon Battling to be a thing, are starting to get used to cars yet have already developed a cure for a bunch of stuff. That's the Sunrise for you. And that's why most people love it.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-3-3
Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - recently refurbished, a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: the Patriots

Shockingly, despite a strong semifinal finish at the Campionato Esportiva, Catherine Bardsley's contract with the national team was allowed to lapse. It was a shock - after all, Bardsley had sent the team towards qualifying for the World Cup for the first time! And then the second time! All while developing a new generation and playing an assertive, attack-minded style!

But the why is irrelevant. With former Rozelle United manager Danielle Granger brought in along with a whole new generation of talent (ten uncapped players in this squad of 30, with former captain Erin Camden among those cut), the BFA hopes this change will bring the actual tournament success that has, so far, proven elusive. But it's a hell of a gamble.

Overall Record
88 wins - 45 draws - 58 losses
329 scored - 258 conceded

Tactics
Granger's open to changing her strategy for the opponent - 4-3-3 remains the formation of choice, with the style shifting for their opponents. Most of the time, the play is quick and direct, bombing the ball forward into space to make best use of the blazing speed of the forwards. Defensively, they aren't afraid to get stuck in, and prefer to quickly press their opponents to force mistakes - backing themselves to have the speed to cover the space quickly. On the whole, a physical side more than a technical one, but one that can cause any side problems.

Other Notes
The 30-player shortlist will be trimmed to 23 for the finals themselves - until then, squad numbers will be assigned on a match-by-match basis, starters wearing 1-11 depending on their assigned position. Ages are correct for the World Cup itself.

Danielle GRANGER - 43
Manager
Appearance
A bookish-looking redhead with half-moon glasses and a severe expression.
Summary The most immediately-unpopular manager in Brenecian history, Granger faces an uphill battle to impress sceptical fans who never wanted Bardsley let go in the first place. Brought in from Rozelle United, Granger's earned a reputation as a versatile schemer. Most importantly, she is pragmatic - and with Brenecia having largely gone for the 'heroic defeat' model in past World Cups to the tune of five straight losses, this is probably what landed her the job in the first place.

Fiona SYLVER - 41
Assistant Manager
Appearance
A well-freckled ginger, 5'8" and still quite lean.
Summary A much-loved former captain of Brenecia, veteran of its ill-fated Baptism of Fire, Sylver was a calculated choice for a manager who desperately needs to earn respect. By all accounts, has a highly-refined tactical mindset as well, and took to coaching like a duck to water. Right now, though, she will almost certainly be needed to stick the squad together more than to make arrows on a chalkboard.
Sara FAIRHALL - 33 - Image North Hall
29 caps, 11 clean sheets
Appearance
A tall, strongly-built blonde, with hair cut short and close-cropped.
Summary It's unfortunate, but despite being one of precious few actual competent and reliable goalkeepers in the A-League, Fairhall was poor during the Campionato Esportiva, making a couple of high-profile errors. The veteran North Hall goalkeeper is unlikely to be the starter of choice, but while some might doubt her skill, nobody can doubt her mentality - if called upon again, she will make amends.

Olenna KNIGHT - 30 - Image Kingsgrove
Uncapped
Appearance
Tall, lean and quick on her feet, with a long, angular face and long brown hair.
Summary Knight is a good and reliable shot-stopper, but her energy coming out of goal, ability to keep calm with the ball at her feet and fantastic distribution have steaded her well with Kingsgrove. Not world-class, but certainly good enough to hold down her place. Her one weak point is that she can be a little flappy when coming out for crosses.

Catherine RALSTON - 30 - Image Marque
Uncapped
Appearance
Lean, rough-looking ginger. Always wears short sleeves.
Summary A quick-witted, quick-moving goalkeeper, always good on her feet and knowing the time and place to reposition herself for a save. Can sometimes overthink the situation and leave herself open, but broadly speaking a good goalkeeper, just... not perfect. Has generally overperformed for a Marque side that has, generally speaking, left her hopelessly overexposed.

Geneva URQUHART - 27 - Image Viztourzys Kolektyvinis
1 cap, 0 clean sheets
Appearance
Just 5'7", pointy-faced, stereotypically green-eyed and freckled ginger with short hair.
Summary A dark horse and eye-catching late riser to the challenge for the Patriots, with great reflexes and an unnerving way to get to shots no matter what. Great distribution and ability with her feet form about 90% of a complete product. The problem is that she's obviously pretty poor aerially, and she is just a little error-prone. Won her first cap in the third-place playoff of the Campionato, and is the front-runner to be Brenecia's number 1 under Granger.
Fiona BERENGER - 28 - Image Crisisbless
Right-back
60 caps, 4 goals
Appearance
A lanky, long-legged blonde. Small snake tattoo around her left wrist.
Summary An aggressive, attack-minded, nippy little fullback, used to providing width in a narrow Crisisbless side, and ideally suited to overlapping a side like this. Something of a two-trick pony with her pace and crossing, and can occasionally be suspect in defence, but adds a lot of dimension to this team.

Diandra BRANAGH - 29 - Image Northern Union
Left-back
14 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
5'3", unusually hourglassy blonde.
Summary A technically-adept leftback whose first cap has been long overdue. Not the quickest, but seemingly endless reserves of stamina keep her going the distance, sprinting the whole time. Doesn't score too many, but her crosses are lethal. She's made the cut, but has a fight on her hands to claim the leftback spot as her own.

Gretchen COLBACK - 25 - Image Lotus Park
Centre-back
Uncapped
Appearance
A lanky, rather awkward blonde. Prone to making unflattering, photoshoppable faces in the heat of the match.
Summary Might not be the obvious choice to help Brenecia's defensive woes, but Colback combines workrate and pace with the traditional virtues of strength and aerial prowess. A liability with the ball at her feet and perhaps not the cleanest tackler, but one way or another Colback generally gets the ball clear of danger. The league's most frequent fouler last season - not especially dirty, but she just tends to clatter people.

Ronan DAILLY - 29 - Image Crisisbless United
Left-back
Uncapped
Appearance
Tall and muscular for a fullback, with short dark brown hair and a seemingly permanent death-glare.
Summary Miriam Portadown was generally one of the first names on Catherine Bardsley's team sheets, the manager she made her national debut for. She hasn't even made Granger's squad. The leftback spot is wide-open, and Dailly is a surprising inclusion on paper but deserves his chance to stake a claim to it. Used to have a reputation for being injury-prone, but after a few years in good health has proven himself to be defensively solid and good at overlapping.

Gerry DUFFY - 25 - Image Bellight FC
Left-back
Uncapped
Appearance
Short and scruffy. Cat-green eyes, sandy blond hair, and two sleeve tattoos.
Summary Duffy's primarily defensive skillset and incredible stamina puts him in pole position to win the wide-open race to be the new number 3 of choice for a new, more pragmatic era. Born in Nephara to Brenecian migrant parents, Duffy developed out of the Coret Hawks academy (and still has the accent), and after two seasons starting regularly in the Premiership saw him take new, bold strides as a player he was snapped up by Bellight after relegation.

Brandon DUGUID - 24 - Image Mallox
Centre-back
4 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Classically athletic, with short auburn hair, stubble and piercing blue eyes.
Summary A genuine prospect on a declining Kingsgrove team, Duguid surprised many by moving to Haerlighet Ligan champions Mallox. "I'm just looking for a new challenge," claimed the centreback, and the idea of helping the sleeping giant of the Cosumarite league achieve in UICA was one that appealed to him. He's a skilled centreback, not prone to mistakes and calm in possession, with a passing range one would sooner associate with a midfielder.

Orson FAULKNER (c) - 30 - Image AC Izotz Zubia
Centre-back, right-back
56 caps, 5 goals
Appearance
Weathered-looking auburn man with rough-hewn features.
Summary A heroic performer for Zozi in the LigAnaia, Faulkner's equally comfortable at centre- and rightback and could probably do a job on the left, or in defensive midfield. A daring defender who likes to step up into the midfield and play the ball, but also very capable at just sticking tight to his mark and keeping them out of the game. Probably the best defender on the team, new captain after Camden wasn't picked, and something of a goal threat, too - he scored twice from set pieces during the Campionato Esportiva.

Scout GIVEN - 26 - Image Bengtsmark IF
Right-back
15 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A tall, lean and angular sandy blonde with very deep brown eyes.
Summary Given was already making her mark in the A-League as a teenager, and the step up to the leagues of Buyan has seen her grow further still as a player. Her strengths are chiefly defensive, quick feet and quick wits making her a vicious harrier, and she has the mentality to rise to any challenge. Perhaps too much of that, in fact - punching a Devontan player last qualifying cycle didn't help her prospects in Bardsley's eyes, but with a shift of manager she's looking likely to capitalise.

Ash KILCANE - 29 - Image AC Zevella
Centre-back
20 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Tall, strong and lean, with braided auburn hair.
Summary A devilishly fast player, Kilcane's no brute, but she can more than hold her own. A player most at home hanging tightly to her mark, harrying and lashing out at them over the course of the match, and rarely caught out of position - though her single-mindedness can occasionally count against her. Has been in and around the national team for a long time without ever really stamping a leading role in it.

Brady MONROE - 30 - Image Northern Union
Centre-back
26 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Weathered-looking brunet, powerful build.
Summary The one who got away for Northern Union - formerly one of their top prospects as a teenager and a U-21 for Nephara through parentage, he was haunted by injury. The move abroad that seemed to be inevitable did materialise, but it was to the Nepharim second tier. After rebuilding his career, however, Monroe won a return to Union, and seems to have largely recovered from his cruciate hell. A powerful, talented centreback, set to be a fixture for club and country - but one has to wonder what could have been.
Cathy BLACKSLATE - 25 - Image Harmonica Tundra
Central Midfielder
Uncapped
Appearance
A tall blonde, athletically-built and with a striking face.
Summary One of the only real all-rounders in a generation, it seems, of playmakers. Blackslate's seen her share of adversity with Westpike, and surprised many with a move to midtable stragglers Harmonica Tundra - but she thrives under pressure, and loves making the difference between victory and defeat. Is she an international-quality midfielder? That remains to be seen, but it can't hurt to find out.

Augustine BRETON (vc) - 31 - Image Brinemouth
Holding Midfielder
75 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A lean, tough-looking brunet with a generally severe expression.
Summary Breton has overcome criticism for club and country with a recent resurgence in form. Part of this is thanks to a reinvention under Stephen Frew - from the slow, suffocating possession-retention under Larissa Garrotte (winning him the nickname 'the Crab' among dissatisfied supporters) to quick, energetic passing. One touch to take the ball, a second to pass it, generally forwards. Keeps the team clicking, and is of course a strong anchor out of possession. The question is - how will he adapt to Granger's style of play?

Hecate CHARING - 29 - Image Rozelle
Central Midfielder
13 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
A six-foot-one hazel-eyed blonde, lean and muscular with an angular face.
Summary With the best passing range in the A-League, Charing's ability to find the perfect pass can cut A-League defences apart, and it's a handy skill at international level too. She's a capable all-rounder in other aspects, pulling her weight respectably until the critical moment she puts her clinical passing into action. A born leader, and a perfect penalty-taker.

Lilith FIFE - 27 - Image Kingsgrove
Holding Midfielder
4 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A lean, 5'2" ginger, with a once-broken nose that never really set properly.
Summary The diminutive Fife is a ferocious terrier - of course, she has the passing range one would expect of a Kingsgrove player, but just as crucial is her harrying tendencies, going right for the ankles and simply refusing to be knocked off the ball herself by anything short of a shove. A cunt.

Laura GALLOWAY - 26 - Image Rozelle
Central Midfielder
Uncapped
Appearance
Unremarkable-looking brunette, but with bright blue eyes. Bony build.
Summary A gamechanging player. Galloway's the type to belt forward as soon as she takes hold of the ball and get it moving somewhere dangerous, always looking for a killer pass. Not that she's averse to striking out on her own and getting goals, either - and she's fast, too, with a way of getting into the right positions and running into channels. At her weakest out of possession, and a poor tackler.

Diandra KILBANE - 27 - Image Crisisbless
Central Midfielder
13 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
6', angular auburn. Darting cat-green eyes.
Summary When called upon to make the step up to the Nepharim Premiership, Kilbane did not disappoint, dazzling her way into the starting XI of Crisisbless and never letting go. Has undoubtedly become a better player for the experience - not just an optimistic playmaker now, but a quick, decisive and intelligent game-winner who runs the channels and gets the ball moving forward. Will likely be the foil to the immobile Purrington.

Rachel PROWSE - 31 - Image North Hall
Holding Midfielder
Uncapped
Appearance
Strongly-built platinum blonde with well-defined features.
Summary Brenecia doesn't exactly have a surfeit of defensive midfielders coming through at the moment - as a result, it's the captain of North Hall, Rachel Prowse, brought in to compete for a spot. A stopper first and foremost, but with a good passing range as well, although her pace is lacking and she has a tendency to dwell on the ball. That said, her mentality is outstanding, and she should do well if called upon.

Catherine PURRINGTON - 27 - Image Wye United
Central Midfielder
54 caps, 18 goals
Appearance
A short, rather stocky, unathletic woman with a short mop of dark brown hair.
Summary Short, overweight, slow, one-footed. But what a foot. Purrington is pure technique and grace, the foil to more or less the entire rest of the team, with a touch that can be every bit as delicate or vicious as the situation demands. Contributes goals and assists by the bucket against even the strongest opposition, and is undoubtedly their best player in terms of ability, if not necessarily overall. Forms a vicious partnership with Scherzer.
Isadora CULLEN - 28 - Image Barbury Town
Right Winger
59 caps, 17 goals
Appearance
Pale brunette with a sharp, ferretty face.
Summary A sharp, quick and intelligent winger. Some disagreed with her decision to leave Kingsgrove, where she was dazzling the (then much weaker) A-League, to join ANL high-fliers Barbury Town. Initially a squad player, she eventually fought her way into the starting lineup, though usually as a striker. Swift, technically adept, decisive at whipping in crosses and, crucially, a good finisher, Cullen has so often made the difference for Brenecia in the past - scoring, for example, their first ever World Cup goal. She will doubtless be needed again.

Larissa CONNOLLY - 30 - Image Brinemouth
Left Winger
43 caps, 16 goals
Appearance
5'5", compact and muscular, with a dark brown ponytail.
Summary Starting to age now, but Connolly gets goals, no matter what. Quick enough, but it's her ability with the ball at her feet that's steaded her well in the past - she's lethal when cutting inside but a skilled crosser, too, and has a way of beating fullbacks with dazzling footwork. Can be succinctly described as the team's X-Factor, and shows a consistency that many of the fairly flaky Patriots simply never do.

Marcia DANMARK - 27 - Image Rozelle
Striker
Uncapped
Appearance
Tall, lithe, and with liberally-dyed hair - jet black with blue streaks.
Summary One of three Westpike academy graduates to be called up to this squad, the others being Colback and Blackslate - unsurprisingly, all three have since gone onto bigger and better things. Danmark's natural place is off the shoulder of the last defender, using her height, pace and relentless energy to get past them and cause havoc. The only issue is her slightly wayward finishing - if she scored nearly as many chances as she got, she'd be world-class. As it stands, she faces an uphill battle to fight her way into the 23-man final cut.

Sheila MADDON - 25 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Striker
6 caps, 4 goals
Appearance
A 5'5", wiry auburn with a small, round face but piercing blue eyes.
Summary With a Brenecian mother, former Nephara U-21 international Maddon came out of nowhere to land into prominence after some consistent performances in the Premiership. Insanely quick (quicker than Scherzer) she's a consistent finisher marred only by a white-hot temper and a tendency to throw off her shirt during goal celebrations. Where she lacks is physicality, though she's a little too unafraid to stick her boot in.

Seth MONTAGUE - 28 - Image North Hall
Left winger
Uncapped
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome, with angular features and short-cut hair.
Summary A lightning-quick harrier with not too much end product from range, preferring to cut inside and play shorter. Has in work-rate and sheer persistance what he lacks in technical ability, and his two-footedness helps significantly - but you can tell why he plays narrower for his club.

Dani PENDRAGON - 27 - Image Northern Union
Left Winger
13 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
Average height and build, with short blonde hair and pale green eyes.
Summary A fairly conventional winger, quick and with silky technique. A product of Northern Union's academy - a side more known for buying than developing talent, but Pendragon has regularly started them since she was twenty, and the rapid, physical pace of the A-League suits her. Scored a hattrick on her debut - hasn't scored since. But if she keeps cutting open defences like she's done in the past, and always does for her club, the goals will come.

Cheney SCHERZER - 30 - Image Wye United
Striker
70 caps, 42 goals
Appearance
Slick dark brown hair with an angular face and a prominent nose. Pin-up material.
Summary Brenecia's record goalscorer, and when he's on fire, he makes or breaks the team. That said, he scored just twice last Campionato, one interrupted by an injury (predictably, caused by the Nepharim). Scherzer's no threat aerially, but he's great with his feet, excels at quick bursts of pace and almost always finishes what he starts. The problem is he's prone to running cold - and if he isn't firing by the time of the World Cup, it could be a disaster. Still, at international level, a good ANL-quality striker is a godsend.

Adelaide SWAIN - 26 - Image Rozelle
Right Winger
13 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
Stereotypically freckled pale ginger, with a flashy undercut hairstyle.
Summary Swain's form has been patchy for the national team - sometimes she makes the difference, sometimes she's infuriatingly invisible. Swain's one real consistent skill is to hit the ball past the fullback and run really fast after it, but whether or not she can do anything past that point is a mystery. Still, she generally creates enough chances to get in one decisive cross or shot per match - and when she's on song, she can win a match.

THE COLONY OF THE FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula was first established on 6 December 2008, when Fleftic explorers landed on what was then a previously undiscovered continent. These explorers landed on a large peninsula that they named Fhulghamous because of its rich and lush green forests. One of the explorers then fell into an old mine shaft while exploring the peninsula and discovered that the entire peninsula was lying on top of one of the biggest diamond deposits ever discovered by mankind. Once the explorers announced their discovery to the Fleftic government, the Democratic Republic Army Corps of Engineers was quickly dispatched to help speed up the establishment of the colony by helping in constructing settlements and assisting in constructing mining facilities to extract the diamonds within the land.

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula was officially established as a colony of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft on 6 September 2010 following the signing of Democratic Republic Act No. 2340. The colony's capital would be Port Thimpodopoulos, named after Sergeant Major Pythagoras Thimpodopoulos of the Army Corps of Engineers, who tragically died of a heart attack during the construction of the settlement that would eventually bear his name. Today, Port Thimpodopoulos has a population of ten million, accounting for just under half of the total population of the colony. Other cities in the colony were Besanza, Tadoki, Haritzaga City and Thereisnogodabad, home of Multiverse Premier League club Thereisnogodistan FC.

The colony is under the leadership of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, brother of Minister of Colonial Affairs Demetrios Kulbano. His rule saw the Fhulghamous Peninsula's ascent to being one of the most economically-productive colonies of the Democratic Republic, but due to the colony's distance from the mainland Governor Kulbano is slowly beginning to treat the colony as his own personal fiefdom. This was one of the reasons why he had decided to send forth a petition to send a national team to the Di Bradini Cup, the Multiverse's top under-21 football competition. Unfortunately due to some last-minute troubles, the Fhulghamous Peninsula's team was not allowed entry into the Di Bradini Cup, leaving many people in the colony a bit unfulfilled. But when another chance to send forth a national team revealed itself, Governor Kulbano was quick to submit his team's entry, and this time he made sure that the wouldn't miss out on another chance at participating in an international competition.

The current team is mostly composed of players 21 years old or younger, since Governor Kulbano originally envisioned this team participating in the Di Bradini Cup. Any players older than 21 were supposed to be coaching staff for the attempt at the U-21 Cup, but circumstances had forced to suiting up for their colony for this tournament. Nevertheless, everyone believes they've got what it takes to win it all.

Electrum Football is proud to present the...

Electrumite National Football Team

Introduction
It's strange times for the Electrumite team as they regroup from a disappointing performance in their last tournament, the Copa Rushmori. Also, by the skin of their teeth, they managed to book a pot 2 spot in the World Cup Qualifying draw, for the first time ever. They join long-time football players Unified Sunrise Islands as the top two teams in the group, the last time they were in the same group was when Electrum debuted in the World Cup, and the then Northern Sunrise Islands were responsible for an 8-3 thrashing of Electrum. Times have now changed, and this battle-hardened team will give it their all against the Sunrisians, and avenge that particular loss. Also in Group 20 are the Sandwich Territories, Frenline Delpha, Starlarknia, Gonzales Isle, Thatius and the well-known in the Electrum community for their Worldvision entries, The Sword Bloke.

Executive Board
The coaching team has undergone an expansion. Despite there being new players, Electrum Football has decided to keep the old management team from before, given their recent performances in the group stage of WC70 qualification and their breakout performance in the most recent Copa Rushmori held in Polar Islandstates. This team is known as the Executive Board and are in charge of ensuring the team has a successful performance this time round, as well as managing the ongoing development programs. Coach Wilkinson retired at the end of the Cup of Harmony, seeing through Electrum's rise in the rankings. Daniel Brunet was appointed in the Cup of Harmony as his replacement, opting for a more defensive playstyle.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

Image

Official name: May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium
Capacity: est. 67,000
Record attendance: 72,308 (Riuwiee United vs. Wanda Island Wanderers; June 3, 2009)
Operator: Riuwiee United FC
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.

Image

Official name: State of Wanda Island Arena
Capacity: est. 54,000
Record attendance: 59,674 (Wanda Island Wanderers vs. Malabon SC; November 15, 2012)
Operator: Wanda Island Wanderers FC
Short history: The State of Wanda Island demolished the old Wanda Island Arena in 1998 to make way for a new and improved football stadium that follows international standards. Construction began in 1999, and finished just in time for the beginning of the 2001 Premier League season. The Wanderers played in a nearby high school athletic field for the duration of the arena's construction. In 2010, when IKEA entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Wanderers, the arena was consequently called IKEA Arena for sponsorship reasons. This agreement is expected to continue until 2020, after both sides came to a six-year contract extension.

Image

Official name: Monsanto Stadium
Capacity: est. 50,000
Record attendance: 56,555 (Arsenal de Releinthi vs. Admiral Porcusces; January 7, 2013)
Operator: FC Arsenal de Releinthi
Short history: Arsenal de Releinthi mooted moving to a new stadium ever since 1993, but it was only in 2002 that the club managed to get permission to begin construction on the site of a former landfill after disputes with the city council and land planning office. Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.

Electrumite Diplomatic Offices-Coconut Isle National Football Team

Introduction

Guh? For the first time ever, it seems that the Diplomatic Offices of Electrum will be sending a team to fill the void caused by a nation signing up twice in the competition! The maligned Diplomatic Offices manages the international side of things of Electrum in terms of commerce, diplomatic missions, statistical information and participation in WorldVision, representing the interests of Electrum around the world. It only seemed natural that there was to be a progression towards the World Cup tournament. In celebration of Electrum's 5th participation in this tournament, the Diplomatic Offices will be bringing a team to spread Electrum interests around the world. It will also be a joint team with Electrum's former Esportivan territory, Coconut Isle, bringing in some players for this combined team. This team will be made from all-stars and should feature some recognisable faces, and some others which aren't. All money made by this team will be split between government coffers (players for EDO) charities (players from Electrum) and running the despot nation that is Coconut Isle.

The Gnejs Football Association - WC72 ROSTER

Background
The WC72 marks the first entry of the Gnejs national team, nicknamed the "Dandelions", in international competition. The team has previously only competed at a regional level within the International Democratic Union. Results have been poor. Football in Gnejs is generally focused on defensive play, a style the national team brings with them into the WC72.

Manager Eriksen said, during a press conference in the capital of Port Kejm last week: "We're trying to be realistic about this. We're in it for the experience, and we see our entry this year as a sort of investment for future years. Let's not expect the team winning games or going through the group stage. If we can fend off being completely dominated, and try to leave our mark on the games by maintaining our way of playing and not letting in too many goals, that'll be a huge win in and of itself."
