WILLISVILLE WYVERNS vs AEGIS VALDIU [1 - 0]

Olsen Sportsdome, Willisville

An exciting kick-off for the Atlas World Cup 2015! The hosting Willisville Wyverns were superb throughout this match, displaying raw aggression which kept the ball firmly in the Valdian half of the pitch for much of the game. A goal from Olivia Whittington put the Wyverns ahead four minutes into the second half, and the Valdians just couldn't bring it back. The ACS #10, Samuel Myers, received a yellow card for an overly aggressive sliding tackle later in the match, and that seemed to dampen the Wyvern's spirits, preventing them from pulling ahead further.

KHEIASTAN vs AVUZ MARKSMEN [1 - 2]

Goldwing Arena, Lundene

The Avuz Marksmen looked to take an embarrassing defeat home for their first match as the Kheiastani side pressed the attack straight from kick-off, scoring an early goal with an impressive long shot, but the Marksmen recovered and managed to equalise before half-time, before a header late in the second half managed to put them ahead and give them their first win of the tournament.

SIASOE BURNING STARS vs ASTARIA FC [0 - 2]

Siasoe Primus, New Cinoth

Despite the home turf advantage, the Cinothians struggled against the Valaran side today, with the players of Astaria FC showing a lot more energy and determination, letting very few opportunities slip past them. A first-half corner followed by an excellent cross put the Valarans ahead early in the game, and they sealed the deal with a long shot in the second half which sailed nicely into the back of the net despite a valiant dive by the Cinothian keeper.

EDEN NATIONAL FOOTBALL CLUB vs DYNAMO CHERESHLYA [3 - 1]

Whitehall Arena, Edenguard

This was a close-fought match for much of the first half, with the Hayabusans taking an early lead, followed almost instantly by a rally from the Sde Dovians who counter-attacked and snuck a stunning goal past the Hayabusan defence.

The second half saw the Dynamo Chereshyla team run out of steam, however, and a series of attacks by the strikers of Eden wore down their defenses, slipping two goals past the weary Sde Dovians to take the match.

CARLOSO NATIONALS vs DA'KLAWEDIAN THUNDER [5 - 1]

Nire Park, New Carlingford

Everyone expected the Carlossans to do well in this tournament, as one of the largest football-loving nations in Atlas, but their opening performance blew away the Da'klawedian defense, with astounding displays of agility and skill delighting the home crowd to give the Carlossans the largest win of the tournament so far, with a +4 goal difference.

CSKA VASTAVA vs YAGOONA ARSENAL [1 - 0]

Dappa Arena, Empire Bay

Both teams in this match were premier-league teams rather than national ones, and it showed. Lacking some of their bigger names, who had returned home to play for national sides, the teams struggled to hit their stride, with CSKA Vastava taking a yellow card following a dispute over an intentional handball. The Stasnovans managed to score a goal in the second half, edging themselves into the lead and taking the game.

BRYTENE vs BAVARIA [2 - 2] (4-2 on penalties)

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This was a corker of a match, and saw the Brytisc team in black-and-gold struggle against the scarlet-grey Bavarians. The action was closely fought, with the ball spending a lot of time at either end of the pitch, and both times the Bavarians scored, the Brytisc managed to equalise. The match went to penalties, where some excellent shooting from the Brytisc put them 2 goals ahead to give them a victory. This match, however, will be recorded as a draw for Bavaria, giving them 1pt, and both teams will have a 0/0 goal difference as penalties are not included in the final tally.

RIVERSIDE FC vs ZERINITE UNITY EAGLES [0 - 1]

Tsuki Stadium, New Cinoth

No-one knew quite what to expect from this match, but the Zerinfriom side proved to be more than capable, pressing the West Aurelians hard and slipping a goal past their defenses shortly before half-time. The second half of the match was marked by several confrontations between players, resulting in a yellow-card for the Zerinite striker, although the Eagles managed to hold their lead.

CORASPAR KNIGHTS vs FC SPARTAK VOSTOCHNOY [1 - 2]

Bayside Stadium, Golden Bay
The Coraspar Knights' opening clash against FC Spartak Vostochnoy of Elesar was a tightly-fought match, with both sides struggling to maintain control of the ball. Excellent defensive work meant that both sides failed to secure a lead, sending the game into overtime, where the Spartak veterans managed to chip a goal past two defenders and the keeper to secure their first win of the tournament.

HUDA vs SERBIAN EAGLES [2 - 1]

Ibex Stadium, Ebon

This was a mess of a match, with the Hudian team pressing the attack from the get go. They managed to take an early lead with a header from within the Serbian box, but an intentional foul by the Hudian midfielder gave the Serbian Eagles a chance to push back down the field, where a sloppy tackle from a Hudian defender ended in a disastrous own goal! The Hudians managed to push back and retake the lead in the second half, but the Hudians have got to be feeling like pillocks right now.

WILLISVILLE WYVERNS vs CSKA VASTAVA [0 - 1]

Olsen Sportsdome, Willisville
Both teams won their previous encounters, and both are reckoned to be forces to contend with this tournament, so the ACS vs Stasnov match was bound to be the highlight of the group, but the match progressed slowly, ending up in overtime where the men and women of CSKA Vastava managed to score a long shot which bounced off the post and into the net, sealing another win for the soccer-loving socialists.

BAVARIA vs KHEIASTAN [2 - 1]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg

Bavarian fans breath a sigh of relief today as the Bavarian team thundered to victory over Kheiastan, pushing them relentlessly and displaying the kind of well-oiled teamwork that only comes from a tight-knit team. The damp conditions made this match perilous, and what appeared to be an intentional kick to the face saw the first red card of the season and a Kheistani defender was sent off!

ASTARIA FC vs ZERINITE UNITY EAGLES [1 - 2]

Siasoe Prime, Cinoth
The Zerinite Unity Eagles took the lead in Group C today, giving a powerful and aggressive display right from the start, but it came at a cost as the team received a red card for a vicious sliding tackle. The Valarans failed to take the opportunity to equalise, however, leaving them one goal down at the final whistle.

EDEN NATIONALS vs CORASPAR KNIGHTS [2 - 1]

Whitehall Arena, Edenguard

The Eden team, playing in front of an ecstatic home crowd, managed to beat the Coraspar Knights today despite a shaky start which saw the Coraspar side sneak a goal in through some clever footwork and a well-placed corner kick. This places the Hayabusan team firmly at the top of their group.

CARLOSO vs SERBIAN EAGLES[3 - 2]

Nire Park, New Carlingford
Today saw the Carlossan national squad clash against the Serbian Eagles, in a match which many believed was a foregone conclusion. However, the Serbians fought hard, taking a complacent Carlossan side by surprise and taking the lead 2-1 in the first half. Some subs in the second half saw the Carlossan forward Emesto Silva come onto the pitch, where he promptly equalised with a stunning drive up the centre, before captain Eoin Barron managed to edge his team out in front with a header, giving the Carlossans their second win of the tournament.

YAGOONA ARSENAL vs AEGIS VALDIU [3 - 2]

Dappa Arena, Empire Bay

These two teams were both playing to win, with both stuck at 0pts and looking for a win to take the heat off. The match was a tight one, but eventually Yagoon Arsenal took the lead thanks to some unfortunate mistakes by the Valdian defenders.

BRYTENE vs AVUZ MARKSMEN[1 - 2]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
The Avuz Marksmen were shooting sharp tonight, scoring two long shots which sailed past the Brytisc defense to net them a clean win, although a lightning charge by the Stags late in the game managed to recover one goal for the host nation.

SIASOE BURNING STARS vs RIVERSIDE FC[0 - 1]

Tsuki Stadium, Cinoth

Bad news for the hosts of Group C as they lost their second match, this time to Riverside FC. The West Aurelians managed to put a goal in the net early in the match, and played a defensive game, effectively running out the clock in the face of determined but desperate Cinothian resistance.

DYNAMO CHERESHYLA vs FC SPARTAK VOSTOCHNOY[3 - 2]

Bayside Stadium, Golden Bay
This was a struggle of a match, with both teams even at 1-1 by halftime, but the Sde Dovian team really kicked it into overdrive in the second half to score an additional two goals, accidentally ceding a single goal to the Spartak side just minutes before the final whistle.

HUDA vs DA'KLAWEDI THUNDER[1 - 3]

Ibex Stadium, Ebon
In a colossal upset, the Da'klawedi side managed to triumph 3-1 over the Hudians today, despite a poor opening performance. They struck like thunder, displaying incredible teamwork to keep the ball on the Hudian half of the pitch for almost the entire match, boasting 71% possession. You can only hope the Hudians have taken some lessons home from this today.

WILLISVILLE WYVERNS vs YAGOONA ARSENAL [2 - 2] (5-3 on penalties)

Dappa Arena, Empire Bay
This match was a nailbiter, with the Wyverns taking an early 2-0 lead and the Chilokverians struggling to catch up, but they managed to score a second goal just before the final whistle, putting the match into overtime where both teams failed to score. Moving to penalties, the Wyverns' goalkeeper was on form, letting just one goal through to seal the match for the ACS. Yagoona Arsenal still earn one point, however, giving them that edge needed to stay in the tournament, meaning that unfortunately it is over for Aegis Valdiu, though they have one match yet to play.

BAVARIA vs AVUZ MARKSMEN [1 - 0]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
These two teams are leading Group B, and their clash determines the winner of the Group. It was a close match, but in the 66th minute the Bavarians managed to force their way past the Vedrian defenders and into a melee by the goalline, with the ball slipping out and scoring a game-winning goal for Bavaria.

ASTARIA FC vs RIVERSIDE FC [3 - 1]

Siasoe Prime, Cinoth
Going into this game it seemed like the two sides were fairly evenly matched, but the Valaran squad quickly claimed the initiative, using excellent passing and co-ordination to keep control of the ball and outrun a confused West Aurelian side. The score at the final whistle was 3-1, securing Astaria FC progression to the next round. Unless the Siasoe Burning Stars can inflict a very one-sided defeat on the Zerinite Unity Eagles, it looks like this Group Stage is concluded.

DYNAMO CHERESHYLA vs CORASPAR KNIGHTS [1 - 1] (2-4 on penalties)

Whitehall Arena, Edenguard
This was a tense match, deciding which team would secure progression to the knockout rounds - if the Coraspar Knights won by even a single goal, they would have just edged out the Sde Dovians by virtue of goal difference. Unfortunately for the Knights, they struggled to take the lead, with the Sde Dovians equalising shortly after half term. The penalty shootout handed the win to the Coraspar Knights, but the 1pt Dynamo Chereshyla received for a draw kept them ahead and ensuring their advancement. The Coraspar Knights still have a chance, if the Hayabusans beat FC Spartak Vostochnoy by a margin of 2pts or more in the final match of Group D.

CARLOSO vs HUDA [2 - 1]

Nire Park, New Carlingford
Everyone thought this match was a foregone conclusion, with the Hudians reeling after a shock hammering from the Da'Klawedians on Friday, and they were right. The Carlossan juggernaut seems implacable, and though the Hudians put up a rare fight, they found it impossible to penetrate the Carlossan defenses to equalise. The Hudians are almost safe from relegation, though if somehow the Da'klawedians and Serbians drew, with the Serbians winning on penalties, the Hudians could still be edged out.

CSKA Vastava vs Aegis Valdiu [2 - 3]

Olsen Sportsdome, Willisville
This was the final match for Group A, and what a shocker! The Stasnov team, riding high on success and dominating the leaderboard, clearly just weren't expecting much resistance from Aegis Valdiu, who had yet to earn a single point in the tournament. However, a fierce onslaught early in the game left CSKA Vastava struggling to catch up, and the Valdians managed to hold the lead until the final whistle. It wasn't enough to save them from elimination, but at least they can go home with one win under their belt.

BRYTENE vs KHEIATSTAN [3 - 1]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This was a tense match, deciding which team would be eliminated from the competition - a Kheiastani win would leave the two teams drawn on points but with a Kheiastani G/D advantage. The Brytisc pulled out all the stops, however, pressing the Kheiastani defenders hard and putting three goals through in the first half. The Kheiastani side rallied after halftime, using a magnificent free kick to score their first goal, but it wasn't enough to recover the match.

Siasoe Burning Stars vs Zerinite Unity Eagles [1 - 4]

Tsuki Stadium, Cinoth
This match was brutal, and the surprise superstars of this Group, the Zerinite Unity Eagles, pulled no punches against the Cinothian side. The Siasoe Burning Stars needed to win by a margin of two goals or more to stay in the competition, but the group leaders from Zerinfriom laid into the host team and just didn't let up, taking the lead 3-1 by half-time and scoring an extra header in the second half to secure their place at the top of the group and boot the Cinothians from the competition.

Eden vs FC Spartak Vostochnoy [0 - 1]

Bayside Stadium, Golden Bay
This match was a laid-back affair for the Hayabusan side, who knew their place in the tournament was secured. Two star players were absent from the line-up, unsurprising as the Eden team no doubt wishes to conserve their best players for the later stages of the knockout round. The Elesar side took advantage of this lax attitude to win 1-0, but ultimately this match did little other than confirm Coraspia's place in the elimination zone.

Da'Klawedi Thunder vs Serbian Eagles [1 - 0]

Ibex Stadium, Ebon
After a stunning turnaround on Friday, the Da'Klawedians have managed it again, beating Serbia 1-0 to retain their position in Group E and make it through to the knockout stages, leaving the Serbians to lick their wounds and finishing up the Group Stage of the Atlas World Cup!

Aegis Valdiu vs Coraspar Knights [4 - 2]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This first knockout match started off well for the Coraspar side, with them gaining a 2-1 lead within the first twenty minutes, but a clearly malicious foul by their star striker saw them red-carded and down one player for the rest of the match. The Valdians seized the advantage and counter-attacked, taking three more goals to win the match and secure progession to the knockout stage alongside the 15 other successful teams.

CSKA Vastava vs Avuz Marksmen [2 - 1]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This match was eagerly anticipated, with both teams almost perfectly evenly matched, coming out of their respective group stages with 6pts and a +1 goal difference. The Azuv Marksmen kicked off with an excellent shot that whipped right past the Stasnov goalkeeper, but CSKA Vastava reacted furiously and seized possession, setting up shot after shot and eventually putting two goals into the net to secure themselves a place in the quarter-finals.

Riverside FC vs Eden [2 - 5]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
A high-octane game played in unusually warm temperatures, this match saw the first water-breaks of the tournament. Despite this, both teams exhausted themselves early in the match, with a distinct lack of energy in the second half resulting in some sloppy play and missed opportunities. The Hayabusans endured longer, however, rallying several times to drill goals past the exhausted Riverside defenders.

Huda vs Willisville Wyverns [2 - 3]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
Huda didn't do quite as well as the Wyverns in their Group Stage, but the teams were evenly matched enough to promise a close match, and a close match is what we got! An early goal by the Wyverns lulled them into a false sense of security, and shortly before half-time the Hudians managed to storm back and score twice within six minutes, giving them the lead at the start of the second half. The Wyverns tightened up, however, and managed to equalise at 57", before scoring an astonishing header with only four seconds of extra time left on the clock.

Brytene vs Yagoona Arsenal [2 - 1]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
Another closely-matched pairing here, as though Brytene had a slight edge in points it was thanks only to a win on penalties. Brytene managed to take an early lead however, and despite a magnificent corner set-up letting the Chilokverians equalise in the first half, the Brytisc trolled possession and kept hold of the ball, preventing the Chilokverian side from seizing the lead and letting the Stags set up enough shots that eventually one went in.

DYNAMO CHERESHYLA vs CARLOSO [1 - 4]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
Dynamo Chereshyla put in a solid performance in their group round, but Carloso entered this match as one of the highest-scoring and best-seeded teams in the tournament and it really showed. The Sde Dovians played a tight match, attempting to retain possession and avoid taking risks, but the Carlossan attack was just too aggressive and time after time they punched through the Sde Dovian defense to hammer home four goals, with the Sde Dovians scoring only one goal.

Zerinite Unity Eagles vs FC Spartak Vostochnoy [3 - 3] (5-3 on penalties)

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
This was a shocker of a match, with the highly-rated Zerinite Unity Eagles struggling to find their stride against the stubborn FC Spartak Vostochnoy. Every single Zerinite goal was met with a determined push from the Elesar side, who equalised every single time within three minutes. The match was forced into penalties, where that obsessive Zerinite training paid off, giving them a narrow win by a mere two penalties.

BAVARIA vs ASTARIA FC [3 - 1]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This match was highly anticipated, with both sides faring well in the competition thus far. The Bavarians displayed excellent co-ordination today, with a blur of top-notch passes and blindingly well-assembled advances keeping the ball firmly at the Valaran half of the pitch for most of the game. The Valarans managed to punch through and recover a goal, but it wasn't enough, leaving the Bavarians to advance to the quarter-finals.

DA'KLAWEDI THUNDER vs AEGIS VALDIU [2 - 0]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
Aegis Valdiu barely made it out of the group stage, beating away the Coraspar Knights to make it to the knockout stage, but the Da'Klawedians were ready and waiting for them. This match was a pretty straightforwards affair, with the Da'Klawedians taking the lead early on and extending it with a stunning scissor-kick goal shortly after halftime.

CARLOSO vs EDEN NATIONALS [1 - 0]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
In this clash of titans, more was at stake than just a football match - Carloso and Hayabusa are fierce rivals, and no-one expected this match to be an easy one. The two sides struggled hard against one another, with action pushing up and down across the pitch, but Terciero Alba scored a goal for Carloso at 62", assisted by an incredible set-up from Case Serrano, putting the Carlossan juggernaut through to the semi-finals.

ZERINITE UNITY EAGLES vs WILLISVILLE WYVERNS [2 - 1]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
This was a close match, with the Wyverns battering the Eagles right out of the gate to take a 1-0 lead. It wasn't until half-time that the Zerinites managed to equalise, and shortly before the final whistle a tussle ended up giving another goal to the Zerinites, who have to be counting themselves lucky today.

BRYTENE vs DA'KLAWEDI THUNDER [3 - 0]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
Despite being quite a low seed, the Da'klawedian side have truly lived up to their name this tournament, blasting past Huda, Aegis Valdiu, and the Serbians. Their performance against Brytene today was lacklustre, however, as the team seemed tired and un-coordinated, allowing the Brytisc to slip past their defenses several times.

BAVARIA vs CSKA VASTAVA [3 - 2]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
These two giants were practically evenly matched, and are almost drawn for friendlies played against each other in the past, but today Bavaria was just a little more on-form, taking an early lead and holding it despite the Stasnov squad's best efforts to catch up.

CARLOSO vs ZERINITE UNITY EAGLES [2 - 1]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
These two titans clashed in an epic semi-final which saw the Zerinites take an early lead. However, the Carlossans bit back to equalise just before the half-time whistle. The second half was a rough one, which saw both Carlosso and Zerinfriom suffer a red card as play became increasingly aggressive, but the Carlossans managed to push a final goal through to secure their advancement to the final.

BAVARIA vs BRYTENE [4 - 2]

Goldwing Arena, Contwaraburg
Bavaria have been strong throughout the tournament, whilst Brytene has been up and down. Today was one of their down moments, as they took ceded an early goal to the Bavarians and struggled to find their pace for the rest of the game, with both of their goals followed almost immediately by a Bavarian counterattack. A header finished the match for the Bavarians, sending them to the final against Carloso whilst Brytene must face Zerinfriom in the playoffs.

BRYTENE vs ZERINITE UNITY EAGLES [4 - 2]

Arsenal Parade, Lundene
This play-off was a bitter struggle, especially for the Zerinites who had come so close to the final. Despite pressing hard early in the match to take a 2-1 lead, the Zerinites appeared to tire, whilst the lower-seeded Brytons dug their heels in, desperate to take away a ranking from this tournament, and a fierce onslaught in the second half gave them the lead by the final whistle
