A Guide to
Star United States

Image
Welcome to the Utopian Republic of Star United States, where we find peace in harmony under God.

Our History
The land of Star United States was once composed of five independent states, which are known as the mainland districts of the country. The people of these former sovereign states came together in peaceful agreement, thus creating the Federal Republic of Star United States.

Disclaimer: Some information presented by this map is inaccurate, such as the shape
of the neighboring island, and the title of the country.

The government of the Federal Republic ruled for hundreds of years, until the day of the Vertex Storm. The storm was composed of large-scale disasters, such as the constant rainfall on the coastal cities, leaving many unreachable. Thousands of civilians wear rushed into underground designated underground bunkers, where food was rather limited. The government, due to rain and underground blockages, was unable to supply the needs of the bunkers to meet the demands of the people. Anti-Federalists began to appear throughout the country, both in affected and unaffected areas. They gained power as the Federal Republic greatly lost it. Soon enough, an unstable Federal Republic crashed and burned. It meet its defeat at the attack on City of Star, and with the assassination of President Cross. These events plunged the country in chaos, and into smaller governing providences.

The remaining population that served as the Federal government quickly deflected to the Starian islands. The Blun Party became popular, and gained power. The Blun Communist State was created, and it controlled almost the entire Starian mainland. Surrounded with smaller warring providneces, the Blun Communist State started to become weaker. The islands reformed themselves as the Republic of Star United States. After their short-term elections, they planned a counterattack against the communist reign, and ultimately succeed.

In a movement to prevent such events to reoccur in Starian history, the Utopian Republic of Star United States was created. Many new laws were installed, and the country opened its doors to the international community.

The country now lives under the motto, “Peace in Harmony under God,” and the Starian history continues to be written.

Our Culture
Languages, Religion, & Sports

The Starian culture is a unique one, as it is a direct blend of five distinct cultures of those who used to inhabit the land. Traditional foods may be found all around the country.

Currently, there are three official languages of the country, which are: English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Most Starian Citizens are proficient in two of the three official languages. Although the three languages are rather dispersed through the country, each respective culture is concentration in certain areas. The Portuguese culture is mostly located on the Starian Islands, or the Sixth District. The English-based culture is located towards the northern part of the country, while the Spanish-based culture is located towards the southern part.

The most popular religion in Star United States is Christianity, as it is the official language of the country. Specifically, Protestant Christianity prevailed throughout the Starian lands. Although it stands as the official religion, it is not imposed onto anyone. Everyone is granted freedom of religion.

Starians love sports, especially soccer. Starians find pleasure in ever match, be it a small match between children in the middle of the street to the World Cup Qualifiers being playing in World-Class Stadiums. World-Class Stadiums adorn almost every large city in the country. The National Sports Federation maintains the sporting venues. Previously, Star United States has hosted, or co-hosted, five editions of the Star Triathlon Worldwide Tournament; International FireStorm Cup VI, Second 5-A-Side World Cup; First Triathlon World Championship; March Triathlon Open; Runner Cup 4; World Lacrosse Championship 21; and a national league of sports.

Our Geography and Weather

Star United States' coast line stretches on the eastern border of the country. Tropical jungles and forests are scattered across the country. The largest one, however, may be located at the National Zoo and Reserve. Star United States is divided into six districts, which are known as: Starix, Herbeid, Estrall, Piasxe, Opangue, and the Islands. Starix is the most population condensed district, as Opangue is more rural in comparison.

Concerning weather, Star United States has a stable climate according to the season of year. Temperatures, however, vary from location to location, such as the snow-covered mountain tops to the sun-blazing beaches. The summer time calls for thunderstorms more often than any other seasons.

Transportation, Lodging, & Currency

Into the Country
There are various ways to enter the country. By law, it is required for everyone to legally enter the country. This could be done via airport, train, sea ports, and land check points. It is important to notice that illegal entrance into the country is punishable by law, however, it is not necessarily to illegally enter Star United States, as everyone is almost always accepted to enter the country for a finite and infinite amount of time.

In the Country
All the large cities in Star United States have public transport services. Public buses run from 5:00am to midnight, and short-distance trips are completely free. Long-distance trips cost a cheap and reasonable price. Subways and train stations are located through large cities and at airports. Rental cars are also available at airports, hotels, and at selective locations throughout the country. Those who rent cars are expected to follow all driving and road laws.

Hotels and motels can be located almost anywhere, and prices vary from location to location. Each city offers a mass variety of lodging locations, from five-star hotels to on-the-side-of-the-road motels.

Star United States uses the "Starlite" as its currency. It is important to note that the Starlite has become a digital currency. Guests may exchange currency for a digital currency card at Exchange Windows, online exchange, banks, airports, selective hotels, and selective sport stadiums.

Introduction

The Kingdom of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group, giving to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments and being politically speaking a stable nation working into the frame of a Constitutional Monarchy. The ancestral heritage given by Spanish colonizers and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this basic information guide is presented important information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of other ethnic groups. The economy was based on hunting and selling bearskins for the winter season, or the planting and harvesting of grapes or apples during the spring time. The system of government was nonexistent and remained so for a long time, where the Eskimos were the majority before a new ethnic group in the center of the country, which was the group of "Wára-Wára" who ended up being called "Native Guayabalenses.”

Many centuries later, nothing changed regarding the ethnic background of the population, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much stronger than ever through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that they abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We are going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, The Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then. The discovery of new cities and new cultures was almost unstoppable, the isolated Eskimos decided to merge into a new society, full of opportunities for everybody. And that hasn’t stopped yet, because more groups came to stay in our nation, coming from the north the Finns, Swedes, Russians and Anglo-Saxons, creating a multicultural society in a big nation, who had a strong sense of unity and brotherhood since the early beginning despite the racial differences.

In the last 200 years, San José Guayabal has suffered drastic changes into his history and social system, being caused by political reasons, who led to three civil wars (1989, 2024, 2047) where the main factor was the wish of liberty and prosperity from a diverse but united nation with strong wishes of success in international issues as business, industries and more specially peace and freedom.

Today, San José Guayabal is a nation that is rising from the ruins by leaps and bounds after the most recent and devastating civil war that put a stop to the tyrannical communist regime of then President Miguel Serrano. In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasing momentum of the touristic industry and the micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced seeking for a better future and to overcome adversity in order to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Esportivan Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate and geographical features.

The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and a high number of volcanoes, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens and decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. "El Valle" is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

The North Steppe is the most arid area of the territory, dominated by its large sand dunes, this region has very little rainfall throughout the year and extreme weather in the summer, easily exceeding 42°C at noon and decreasing the 9°C at the night, fauna it’s minimal there except for scorpions and some lizards.

The climate of San Jose Guayabal is generally quite predictable because there are four distinct seasons being these winter (June 21 to September 20), spring (September 21 to December 20), summer (December 21 to March 20) and the autumn (March 21-June 20) while in Rossana (overseas colony) the condition is different because of its location in the northern hemisphere being the winter between December and March, spring between April and June, the summer between July and September while autumn is from October to December. It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the monitoring systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

Inwe talk about natural phenomena, we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate. This makes our nation quite prone to seismic events place but do not panic. The nation has high construction standards regarding the prevention of seismic events and is mandatory that each building has evacuation plans which are placed in visible to make easier the evacuation besides making evacuation drills at least two times for year. Note that at least 45% of citizens are people trained to provide first aid, this being part of the given requirements to complete the Students’ Social Service, required for the graduation of students in the education system.

We now turn to other less lethal phenomena, as are the aurora australis and the migration of geese, spectacular events that attracts lots of people. The aurora australis is a phenomenon that occurs mainly from March to September, while maintaining an appropriate intensity to be seen until the end of December, usually can be seen throughout the country, including northern areas like El Roblar or Metapán. The migrating of geese occurs during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head to the north of Esportiva. These spectacles often see lots of people witnessing the wonders of nature.

Travel

Visiting San José Guayabal is not a very complicated process, as the provisions of international travel are applied for each foreign visitor. International flights usually land at three airports, one for each egion of the country, being the El Roblar International Airport designated to the west, Luis Barbosa Airport in Vladivostok for the central region and San Salvador International Airport to the east, the latter being the most important because of its location in the capital.

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires, use always your seatbelt and be sure to have your National Driving Authorization or a Multiversal Driving License, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police or even some time on jail, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the very beginning, on he epoch of the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

This Eskimo tradition of worshiping natural phenomena remained for more than 2500 years until the arrival of Spanish colonizers, who spread a new faith, Christianity in an easy way and without shedding innocent blood by religion. The Guayabalenses have been very receptive to the religion without falling into religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, this being a meeting point of unity and for society.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and Protestantism dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Today the trend remains solid, the population is even more liberal than before in terms of tolerance creeds, admitting any theological thinking according to the Constitution of the Republic, severely condemning any act of censorship of religious expression or fundamentalism religious. Notably, church attendance has been increasing in the last seven years, bringing together a large part of the population; the missions of the churches typically perform community works across the nation or even international level people who need it most.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Below, a table of English phrases translated into Spanish is presented, in order to have a broader contact with the population or in case of an emergency, which can be very helpful during your stay.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported their culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, and yes, there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally an accompaniment to the main course, where people normally waits for all to start to eat at the same, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes in case you are invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the youth guys in the communities playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as a distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you want to call it like that, many fans in the stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent, flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, drums, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the organized fans in time of watching the local teams or the National Team, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football topics in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the National Team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, if the perpetrators are caught by police, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 Coronas (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if fatalities occur.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hate and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that to enter in the stadiums, fans are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra or Barra Brava”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Uniforms (by Libertad Sportswear):

From left to right, our home kit, our away kit, and our third kit (in case of clash.)

Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the loudest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. Also, if you are going to refer to my nation by a different name for IC reasons (like Gregoryisnotgodistan) please either TG me or leave an OOC note saying you are referring to Gregoryisgodistan. I frequently search for mentions of my nation, but if it's not mentioned by name, that doesn't help. So either mention it by name in an OOC note or TG me to give me a heads up. You don't need to wait for permission with the TG, but please send it so I can respond to the RP. Also, striking out the "isgod" part (as in Gregoryisgodistan) causes it to not show up on the search, so this will not fulfill the notification requirement. However, feel free to use that style as long as you either mention me by name without the strikethrough in the same post or TG me to let me know about the post. And don't flagrantly violate the laws of Gregoryisgodistan while in Gregoryisgodistan and expect to get away with it. Taunting us with chants of "coconut" or shirtless fans while we are playing away or at neutral sites is fine and encouraged, but if you try it in Gregoryisgodistan, those fans are probably going to die. Painfully. Which is fine by me if it’s OK with you. TG me if you have questions as to what is flagrant and what isn’t. Also, no completely unrealistic scoring events such as 80 meter goals.

NEPHARA
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell. Capacity of 88,000, no attached club.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

A semifinal finish in CE12, the best record in qualifying of any side before a quarterfinal finish at the World Cup... Theresa Riether definitely seems to have what it takes. But it's not without problems.

Tosca Marlowe (141 caps and a goal, the most of any Nepharim) retired from international football after a shaky World Cup, saying she simply wasn't able to keep up with both club and country commitments. Brandon (134 caps, 6 goals), Rowland (103, 47) and Cathar (104, 55) soon followed, and Reece Coleman (51 caps, 24 clean sheets) wasn't picked. That's a total of 533 caps bleeding out of the squad, over five players. Oh, and assistant manager Auburn Bywater cut an eleven-year association with the national team to pursue a career in journalism as well. Nephara are among the favourites as always, but that's tempered with the fact that they are, most definitely, a side in transition.

Overall Record
176 wins - 37 draws - 58 losses
533 scored - 317 conceded

Honours
Champions of the 51st Baptism of Fire, the 6th, 8th and 10th Campionati Esportiva, the 61st Cup of Harmony, Eagle's Cup 5 and Market Cup 6.
Qualified for World Cups 67, 68, 70 and 71.
Quarterfinalists in WC68 and WC71 - the first Esportivan to make it that far.
Ranked 6th in the world.

First Team and Tactics
Image
Tactics are classically Nepharim - pass and move, make the most of your possession, don't dwell on the ball. Stay physical, press high, don't be afraid to go in hard. Just as a matter of national pride, Nepharim don't dive, nor do they waste time. Front line based around a strong, physical presence in Kellard or Levy and a quicker, more incisive strike partner in Quinn or Walker.

Image
Plan B is generally a shift to a diamond midfield, attempting to dominate the centre of the pitch at all costs. They do lose their strong wingers, but Riether's never been afraid to experiment. Even mid-match, where the utility player Kestrel will be exceptionally useful on the bench.

Theresa RIETHER - 46
Manager
Appearance
Lean, weathered and with a slight but noticeable limp. Angular face, sandy blonde hair. Tends to wear a dress shirt and tie while pacing around the technical area.
Summary 'No messing about.' That seems to be Tess Riether's creed, as while she remains without a trophy to date her win percentage stands at a staggering 79%. This includes a record run of 14 straight wins - 13 in qualifying that gave Nephara the most points of any side, and a 2-0 win in the World Cup over Audioslavia to cap it off. Fancies herself as a tactician - sometimes it backfires. But no matter what, the initially unfancied but ultracompetitive manager is determined to win every match as it comes.

Portia THRIFT - 47
Assistant Manager
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome. Solidly-built.
Summary Elevated from coaching staff, Portia Thrift is a familiar name on Nepharim rosters, just more often seen with a number 1 on her back. An iconic goalkeeper for the Cormorants, and a real leadership figure in the dressing room - she's been there and done that on just about every stage but the World Cup itself.

Franziska RENSENBRINK - 26
Whip
Appearance
A tall, lean woman with sharp features and close-cropped chestnut hair.
Summary Rensenbrink, one of the many daughters of NFA President Markus Rensenbrink, unsurprisingly took a while to win the trust of the staff and players. That said, she's managed to firmly become one of the fixtures of the team. There are limited rumours that her bond with Catheline Stockinger is very strong, whether platonic or romantic - whatever the cast, they're certainly seen together a lot.
1 - Diandra BALLARD - 29 - Image FC Endeavour
42 caps, 15 clean sheets
Appearance
6-foot-even, strongly-built brunette, hair kept long and braided.
Summary A world-class shot-stopper, now starting for one of the world's best clubs. Ballard's waited a long time for that number 1 shirt, and she's more than earned the right to it for years to come. That said, despite Ballard's ability on paper, she's looked shaky at times for the national team and was, notably, sent off during the World Cup. A number of cryptic quotes from Riether as to how 'nobody's place is guaranteed' has done nothing to shore up her confidence.

12 - Isadora CARAVELLA - 26 - Image FC Brimstone
5 caps, 2 clean sheets
Appearance
5'9", greyhound-thin, lean face and light on her feet. Olive skin and wavy black hair, cut short.
Summary Somewhat notorious for her very late declaration for Nephara - rejecting a callup two years ago to pursue her options with Yttribia, for whom she qualifies as a second-generation immigrant. When no options were forthcoming thanks to the younger, roughly equal in quality and actually Yttribian Totso, Riether persuaded her to make the right choice. A step below Ballard in terms of quality but with the same general skillset as a shotstopper, though she lacks the strapping Treasoner's strength. Played in two World Cup games thanks to a Ballard red card - couldn't do much about Kandorith, but looked solid against the Blouman Empire when called upon.

20 - Seb SEWARD - 30 - Image Sabrefell Athletic
1 cap, 1 clean sheet
Appearance
Lanky sandy blond with a small, ferretty face.
Summary Seward's pure reflex and speed are his greatest assets. While not exactly an imposing physical presence, he's out of his box and on you like a flash - and that's without mentioning his shot-stopping capabilities, which are strong in their own right. Reasonably consistent as well, with most errors coming down to shaky handling.
2 - Markus RHEIN - 26 - Image Slateport Bulls
Right-back
32 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Small and wiry. Badly-shaven with a ragged mop of black hair.
Summary A Sabrefell lad to the end, Rhein's a scrappy little fullback, liking to burst forward and use his pace to his advantage. He's a great defender, too, and can stick to his man when he has to - clipping their heels and hacking at their shins for ninety minutes, like a sort of terrier. Lost his place to Christener and, after the latter excelled in the position, is yet to win it back.

3 - Catheline STOCKINGER - 27 - Image FC Brimstone
Left-back
53 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
5'5" and greyhound-thin, olive skin with short, straight, dark brown hair.
Summary On the pitch, Stockinger is an ambitious, highly professional young woman who's taken a leading role in this current Cormorant side with her darting runs, her electrifying pace and her great work ethic. Off the pitch, she's courted some cameras - first for an anxiety attack days before the final of the Eagle's Cup which she went on to be the best player on the pitch for, then for (probably) sleeping with Brenecian midfielder Catherine Purrington during the Campionato Esportiva. Has become a fan favourite largely as a result of this. "Cathy Stockinger, she shags who she wants!"

5 - Hadrian BELFAST (c) - 32 - Image Dwile Warriors
Centre-back
127 caps, 5 goals
Appearance
Powerfully-built man with wavy chestnut hair. Light peppering of stubble - an electric razor man, not a clean-shaver.
Summary Slightly past his prime. In theory. In practice, Hadrian Belfast has hardly slowed with age, and his instincts are even sharper. He's probably still the best centre-back in the world, with strength, intelligence and leadership to lock down the back four for his club rival, Diandra Ballard - herself one of the world's best in her position. Won't miss a trick, almost never makes errors, and with the captain's armband around a muscular bicep, he's ready for this.

6 - Calliope KATSKALIDIS - 22 - Image AFC Treason
Centre-back, defensive midfielder
Uncapped
Appearance
5'11", swarthy and with short, thick, wavy hair. Scar on one cheek.
Summary The shock selection of the group, but with the generational cap of quality centrebacks Katskalidis makes makes perfect sense to wear the 6. A regular starter for AFC Treason, Katskalidis is Marlowe's partner at club level and her successor for the national team. Where Marlowe looked a touch off the pace and a little shaky last year, Katskalidis is much faster and much better with the ball. The only mark against her is a touch of naivete and, perhaps, she isn't the quickest mentally in general. But Belfast's there to keep her on the right track. This, on paper, should work.

17 - Esther CARDIFF - 27 - Image AFC Treason
Left-back
9 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A whippetty 5'7" platinum blonde, with sharp cat-green eyes.
Summary It was always going to be a tough ask to succeed Cathy Stokes for her club - but Cardiff managed it, bringing her clever feet and good instinct to AFC Treason. Originally with humble Ritter Town, the experience of being on a fairly weak team taught her how to clamp down a defence against the Premiership's best. She's adapted well to the Stags, and to UICA football, and she has that scrappy battler's mentality Gethin Ramsey values so much. Has excelled for the national team when called upon.

19 - Sasha CHRISTENER - 24 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Right-back
21 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome. Wouldn't look out of place on a pin-up.
Summary Rightback has, historically, been a problem position for Nephara. And then, after winning her position from Rhein during qualifying, kept Aitor Jovellanos quiet for most of ninety minutes. The sleek, languid, graceful Christener is still young, and her best attributes tend to be her attacking runs, but finally Nepharim fans can look to the right of Belfast and feel secure.

22 - Kieran RITTER - 23 - Image Bastion
Centre-back
6 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
5'10", stocky and sandy blond.
Summary "Describe yourself in a sentence," a local journalist asked Ritter upon his arrival to Eura - the Nepharim U-21 fairly obscure on those shores at the time. Ritter grinned. "Not afraid to get my hands dirty." And so he's proven, the rough-tackling, hard-talking and endless-running centreback giving all the virtues of desperate defending to regular play. He's everywhere, and his studs are in everyone. With Belfast approaching his twilight years, Ritter needs to get used to that green and black shirt. Fast.
4 - Logan MURDOCH - 28 - Image RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS)
Holding Midfielder
44 caps, 8 goals
Appearance
Tall, athletic sandy blond, with an angular face and a prominent, hooked nose.
Summary One of the real winners of the Riether era, Murdoch's the sort of player who definitely makes himself felt. A dynamic runner box-to-box and a dangerous aerial presence, Murdoch's impressive eye for goal is more than matched by his ability to lock down the midfield and dominate physically weaker or slower opponents. With Michael Brandon's international retirement, the half-Licentian Murdoch can finally lay claim to the number 4 shirt.

7 - Brendan RIVERS - 26 - Image Bengtsmark IF
Right Midfielder
14 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
Tall, muscular brunet, well-tanned and with sharp cat-green eyes.
Summary A tough Laith native, and it shows in his play. Rivers excels at breaking down the right and hitting those early crosses, but he has a good, well-varied skillset and a tendency to work just as hard to defend as he does in attack. Less of a threat when shooting from distance, he's occasionally happy to drift in at the far post for a cheap header - unusual for a winger in that he's happier on the receiving end of a free kick than taking it.

8 - Elaine ASHDOWN - 25 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Central Midfielder
32 caps, 8 goals
Appearance
5'8" of sleek, lean muscle, with black hair cut to the shoulder.
Summary Under-21 captain for two consecutive Di Bradini Cups, Elaine Ashdown's career kicked off from there. Sterling work as a teenager for Iron City saw her picked up by Brinemouth, and when she quickly became their best player as soon as she had a run in the first-team, LigAnaia giants Hastmead Diamante were quick to throw money at her. Helping them to a trophy in her first season was icing on the cake for a player whose playmaking, work-rate and leadership have taken her so far in her brief career. The biggest winner of all in Riether's time at the helm, and now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

11 - Rutger CONNACHT - 27 - Image AFC Treason
Left Midfielder
22 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
Rough-looking ginger with a tough, barrel-chested build.
Summary A quick, bruising scrapper on the left, Connacht is a true competitor. He'll do anything to get the ball and will stop at nothing to keep it, usually before throwing one of a variety of impeccable crosses or cutbacks into the mix. Two-footed, he's a significant threat when cutting inside as well, and his unpredictability and physicality combine to make him a total nightmare for defences.

13 - Brigid KESTREL - 25 - Image Fligsive FC
Left midfielder, leftback
12 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
An easy-going freckled redhead, fairly slender.
Summary Immensely versatile, Kestrel can leverage her very accurate passing at all ranges, her pace and her work-rate at virtually any position in the bottom-left quarter of the pitch. An eventual breakthrough into the first-team was inevitable, but Kestrel's likely to primarily be cover - able to play left midfield, left-back and the holding role in central midfield, her versatility is ideally suited to the gruelling pace of the World Cup cycle. "She's the perfect tournament player to have," Riether once told a press conference with a smile.

14 - Rutger LOCKE - 28 - Image Tannenberg FC
Central Midfielder
78 caps, 19 goals
Appearance
Handsome with a decent tan, a tall, lean physique and short sandy blond hair.
Summary Nephara boast enviable depth as far as advanced playmaker types go, Locke being a $25 million acquisition for Tannenberg but out of favour under Riether despite thriving under Mortlock. That said, he's a piercing, incisive, muscular midfielder and first-choice at the tip of the diamond Riether occasionally favours, and his class is unquestionable.

16 - Rachael LOXLEY - 29 - Image Goodfeather FC
Defensive Midfielder
10 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Wiry and blonde, with hair kept in a long ponytail.
Summary An early bloomer who made her breakthrough for Goodfeather at 20, and has proved resolutely a one-club woman since. A deep-lying playmaker, skilled at breaking down opponents' play, Loxley is at her best at the base of a midfield diamond. Opportunities have been slim so far as a result, but with Brandon retired she adds stability and familiarity in the position that nobody else has. Riether isn't throwing a tool like that aside.

18 - Rook BRANAGH - 23 - Image Lajuno
Central Midfielder
Uncapped
Appearance
Average height, weight and looks, livened up only by a peroxide-blond undercut.
Summary A Chatswood trainee, Branagh has spent his entire senior career to date in Eura. A familiar pattern, it seems, and he's started out well. That said, he's still young and raw and, so far, a squad player for this side. But the experience will stead him well, he should earn a first cap, and if he is called upon, he'll do his part.

23 - Tanya BOTTLEGREEN - 26 - Image Hastmead Diamante
Midfielder (Either Wing)
20 caps, 5 goals
Appearance
A runner's lean build, with a pale complexion and very dark brown-black hair and dark green eyes.
Summary Able to play on either wing, Bottlegreen's a quick, incisive sort of player who's enjoyed remarkable success in the Premiership at a young age. Rather unlike her swashbuckling persona on the pitch, Bottlegreen tends to be quiet and professional off it, and shies from the cameras.
9 - Michael KELLARD - 24 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Striker
1 cap, 0 goals
Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered, rough-looking man with auburn hair and heavy stubble.
Summary The second coming of Gerhard Thunder, perhaps? For someone who nearly quit football to become a carpenter at the age of 18, Kellard's path that took him from being frozen out of the setup at Rhagant's youth system to Project +90, to Sabrefell Moths, through Riether's U-21s to the national team is nothing short of inspirational. A big unit who creates a lot of space but has a marked preference for finishing his own chances, there's definitely shades of Nepharim record goalscorer (and mentor at Sabrefell) Thunder in this one...

10 - Kurtis QUINN - 27 - Image AFC Treason
Striker
28 caps, 18 goals
Appearance
Just 5'8", with a wiry but sturdy build and short blond hair.
Summary A favourite for club and country, Quinn has won plaudits for his scoring prowess in the Premiership. Built on sheer pace, energy, a leap like a salmon and an instinctive way of finding the goal, Quinn's short frame defies the fact that he's as much of a threat aerially as on the ground, and he'll get goals from either avenue. No great technician, doesn't add to other phases of play, but when Kurtis Quinn is on the pitch, goals happen. Scored 11 goals last cycle over 14 appearances - 3 in the World Cup. Needless to say, Quinn's white-hot.

15 - Nate WALKER - 28 - Image Violence Chariots
Striker
8 caps, 5 goals
Appearance
5'10", lean, and quick on his feet. Ginger with close-cropped hair, but well-tanned.
Summary Born in the Licentian Isles, forged in the Islander academies of Project +90, and carving a path for himself in the Premiership since the age of nineteen. Even then, Walker could find the net, and ever since his composure has only sharpened, his work-rate heightened, his force of will pushing him through any obstacle - and defender - in his way to goal. Picked up a flamboyant streak from the Project, too - but doesn't try to overdo it.

21 - Sigmund LEVY - 26 - Image Vermillion Rage
Striker
Uncapped
Appearance
A mulletted, moustached mountain of a man. True old school.
Summary A depth option, but a useful one to have. Levy is... well, he's 6'7". Not the best technically or with his feet, nor is he quick - but he'll stand his ground against anyone and is happy to lay chances out for strike partners rather than demanding them all himself. Can do a job, but has big shoes to fill.

1 - Diandra Ballard (FC Endeavour, APX)
12 - Isadora Caravella (FC Brimstone, APX)
20 - Seb Seward (Sabrefell Athletic)

2 - Markus Rhein (Slateport Bulls, VLD)
3 - Catheline Stockinger (FC Brimstone, APX)
5 - Hadrian Belfast (Dwile Warriors, APX, c)
6 - Calliope Katskalidis (AFC Treason)
17 - Esther Cardiff (AFC Treason)
19 - Sasha Christener (Sabrefell Moths)
22 - Kieran Ritter (Bastion, EUR)

4 - Logan Murdoch (RSK Longyearbyen Town, PIS)
7 - Brendan Rivers (Bengtsmark IF, BYN)
8 - Elaine Ashdown (Hastmead Diamante, OSR)
11 - Rutger Connacht (AFC Treason)
13 - Brigid Kestrel (Fligsive FC, TCU)
14 - Rutger Locke (Tannenberg FC, VLD)
16 - Rachael Loxley (Goodfeather FC)
18 - Rook Branagh (Lajuno, EUR)
23 - Tanya Bottlegreen (Hastmead Diamante, OSR)

9 - Michael Kellard (Sabrefell Moths)
10 - Kurtis Quinn (AFC Treason)
15 - Nate Walker (Violence Chariots)
21 - Sigmund Levy (Vermillion Rage)

APOX CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA XIII ROSTER

Manager: Gavin Hughes, Aged 43
Assistant Manager: Jorge Guardia, Aged: 39
Style: -1

Spiel: Gavin Hughes and the Apox National team return to the Campionato Esportiva for the tenth time - the runners up from the last tournament determined to win a third title and draw level with the Nepharim as the best in the region. This is one of the most experienced squads they've had in years, with the team having gone through many transitions over the years, but having been relatively settled recently with 6 players in the squad on 50 caps or more. Alan Eustathios gets a starting spot over the excellent Ettie Seabrooke, who is likely in the squad as a squad player from here on out, aged 35 now. Solomon Etezadi is still the enigmatic captain in central defence and is one of the best players in the team. This is likely to be Armando Quillisi's final international competition, with the veteran midfielder starting in an otherwise all female, and all powerful midfield unit. Up front, it's a sight people have become very used to recently, with Tolgus Tregajorran and Adnan Zozula starting together, with this likely to be Tregajorran's last international competition as a starter. He's on 93 caps, and barring major injury, he'll become only the third Apoxian to reach the magical 100 caps mark, after Olim Benzari & Jack Forster. A notable addition to the team's attacking quartet is Alpha Gandhi, the 19 year raising a few eyebrows and being selected over more experienced players such as Martin Roskorwell, Alfreton Zerzubar, Maximillion the Codger and Osric Keast. However, if you'd seen his antics in the Npeharim Premiership last season with Maximum City, it will come as no surprise that he's in the team. The fella is electric.

BRASILIANIA NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM - CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA XIII SQUAD

Goalkeepers
1. - Cristóvão ADALBERTO Machado
Height - 188 cm - Weight - 86 kg - Age: 28 years old - Club: Sporting Adlanense
Adalberto has always been first choice for club and country since he was 19. Bursting on the scene after Adlanense's then first choice keeper Juliano was injured, a series of superb displays saw him called up to the national team, and has been first choice since. Off the field, Adalberto is known to live in Northern Adlanense, and has two children, two girls, and is married to model Elisa Darosca.

12. - Armando Olegário NATANIEL CRUZ
Height - 194 cm - Weight - 82 kg - Age: 25 years old - Club: Athletico Nomarazo
Nataniel Cruz is relatively new to the international side, with only four caps in his name, and has only been first choice keeper for Athletico Nomarazo for only about a year. Despite this, Cruz's height makes him a good stopper for high shots, but his weakness is low shots, which gets the better of him. However, this does not stop Cruz being second choice keeper, but, if an injury occurs to Adalberto, third-choice keeper Jorge may be selected instead.

22. - RAMON Cortez Costa
Height - 182 cm - Weight - 83 kg - Age: 24 years old - Club: Imperial Clube
A string of impressive performances in the Serie 1 this season saw 24 year old goalkeeper Ramon earn the call up as third choice replacing the retired Jorge.

Defenders
2. - Antonio Lucio VERATTI
Height - 183 cm - Weight - 71 kg - Age: 29 years old - Club: Internacional Curibia
Right-back Veratti isn't much of an attacking player. A solid defender, the 29 year old is much better at tackling. He is also beginning to lose his pace, which is why most likely other right-back Caixão is more likely to be selected. However, Veratti is a better tackler, but do Brasiliania want the pace and flair or the solid defending option?

3. - Dado Augusto ÁLVARO FONSECA
Height - 181 cm - Weight - 67 kg - Age: 27 years old - Club: Lorinto Pino
Álvaro Fonseca is the perfect left-back: fast, good tackler with a touch of flair. However, he has been plagued by injuries for the past couple of years but this does not stop him from being selected.

4. - Virgílio LUÍS SANTIAGO
Height - 171 cm - Weight - 65 kg - Age: 24 years old - Club: Liro Puena
Liro Puena's left back Luís Santiago has a good pace, a good tackle, and a good pass. Most likely to be Álvaro Fonseca's understudy, he'll get his chance if Fonseca is injured or out of form.

5. - Armando HERNANDEZ
Height - 189 cm - Weight - 76 kg - Age: 33 years old - Club: Liro Puena
Veteran captain Hernandez has the perfect qualities of being a defender. He is tall, strong, a good captain, and a very loud voice. He is renowned for barking orders at his team mates, and is a strong motivator. He is nicknamed O Outro Gerente (the Other Manager) or O jogador-treinador (the player-manager) for his loud instructions.

6. - Antônio Cristian Perez Rodríguez "CAIXÃO"
Height - 184 cm - Weight - 63 kg - Age: 26 years old - Club: Athletico Nomarazo
Possibly one of the most wanted players in Brasiliania right now, right-back Caixão is extremely fast, and has a strong tackle. A classic example of Brasilianian flair, the shining young right-back is one of Brasiliania's key players. He is more likely to be selected over Veratti, due to Veratti's slowness, but Veratti has a strong tackle. However, Caixão will more likely get the nod.

13. - Vítor Carvalho RUBEN MARTINS
Height - 180 cm - Weight - 69 kg - Age: 27 years old - Club: Imperial Clube
Central defender Ruben Martins is relatively uncapped. Only playing twice for the national teams, Martins is a strong back up for central defenders as he is a good tackler, but due to his inexperience this may make him not the first choice in defence.

14. - Edmundo SÉRGIO Rodolfo HENRIQUES
Height - 177 cm - Weight - 62 kg - Age: 20 years old - Club: Numo Octubre
Sérgio Henriques is a versatile full back than can play on the left or right flank. However, he has got tough competition for both places. Former full backs such as Ricardo Placci are calling this young man a rising star, which he is. He has been capped nine times so far, with 6 games on the left, 2 on the right and one in central defence.

16. - Paulino Luisinho MARTIM NUNES Ribeiro
Height - 170 cm - Weight - 57 kg - Age: 21 years old - Club: Imperial Clube
Small and light, Martim Nunes doesn't look the most imposing of centre backs. But beneath his small appearance is a vicious tackler who can easily whip the ball away from you. Also used in defensive midfield, Martim Nunes is one to watch for Brasiliania.

Central/Defensive Midfielders
8. - Luisao MARCO AURÉLIO
Height - 183 cm - Weight - 62 kg - Age: 28 years old - Club: Francio Norelo
Marco Aurélio is a great defensive midfielder, due to his tackling, composure, passing skills and his fair play. Called the "best passer in Brasiliania", Marco Aurélio will be a likely starter for the team.

14. - Marco Figueroa "FIGURINHO"
Height - 179 cm - Weight - 68 kg - Age: 32 years old - Club: Athletic Sorao
Figurinho first started off as a centre-back, but was moved forward by his coach at the time, Franco Guierro due to his composure on the ball and passing skills. Renowned for splitting defenses with his passes and sometimes, their legs with his tackles, Figurinho is a solid veteran and a fantastic player.

15. – Fernando LUISINHO[/b[ Rios
Height – 175 cm – Weight 70 kg – Age: 22 years old – Club: Aquilano Rulito
Young midfielder who impressed for the U21s and his club, Aquilano Rulito.

[b]17.
– Felix MATEUS Camilo Santos
Height – 174 cm – Weight – 67 kg – Age: 21 years old – Club: Numo Octubre
Short, snappy and fast little central midfielder who has impressed since breaking into his first team early on in the season. Made 18 U21 appearances scoring 8 goals.

Wingers/Attacking Midfielders
7. - Desidério FILIPE PAREDES
Height - 186 cm - Weight - 60 kg - Age: 29 years old - Club: Sporting Adlanense
Tall and fast, winger Filipe Paredes is an exceptional crosser. Most of his crosses result in an attempt on goal, and are very rarely headed away. Some of them curl, some of them are diagonal, but all of them are good. Along with that, he has exceptional pace, and at 29 years old, he is still a good person to challenge Caixão to a race!

11. - Rufino Francisco Cruz Achilles "RUFINÃO"
Height - 183 cm - Weight - 63 kg - Age: 24 years old - Club: Numo Octubre
Rufinão has established the right wing place since he made his debut aged only 16 for the national team. A speedy winger with mazy dribbling skills, Rufinão can cut through the opposition's defence and is also the player with the second most assists in the team.

19. - Lino Sérgio ROLANDO Freitas
Height - 182 cm - Weight - 69 kg - Age: 30 years old - Club: FC Jansberg (SEM)
Veteran attacking midfielder Rolando is a technical, strong, attacking midfielder. Either bustling and barging his way through defences, setting up strikers or scoring amazing long range shots from outside the 18 yard box, Rolando is a key player in the team.

21. - MAURIZIO NUNES
Height - 183 cm - Weight - 64 kg - Age: 27 years old - Club: Solenense
Maurizio Nunes is a firm starter either in attacking midfielder, or sometimes as a support striker. With many assists for both club and country, and amazing dribbling and passing skills, Maurizio Nunes is another key player.

22. - Mauricio Nuno Edson da Silva Nunes "NUNÃO"
Height - 175 cm - Weight - 62 kg - Age: 25 years old - Club: Numo Octubre
Left-footed playmaker Nunão has just burst onto the international scene and has certainly made his mark. With only six caps, but with five assists and two goals, Nunão has a good chance of starting for the side.

Forwards
9. CARLOS Duarte Rodrigues
Height - 197 cm - Weight - 63 kg - Age: 28 years old - Club: Sporting Valconese
By far the tallest player in the team, lanky striker Carlos is also one of the best headers in football. Around 95% of his goals have been headers, with shooting not his strong point. Despite being a good player in the box for set pieces, both offensive and defensive, Carlos may not start but he will make the squad no matter what.

10. FABIO RAFAEL Gimenes Garcia
Height - 191 cm - Weight - 60 kg - Age: 23 years old - Club: Athletic Sorao
One of Brasiliania's best strikers yet, the youngster has already made himself first choice in attack. With the elements of former players such as Costao, Rubinho, Kelson Domingues and Rabao, Fabio Rafael is one of Brasiliania's most exciting prodigies.

18. Samuel Ronaldo Fabricio Ferreira FABRINHO[/b[
Height – 184 cm – Weight – 63 kg – Age: 20 years old – Club: Athletic Sorao
Already established as Fabio Rafael’s starting partner for club, he’d like to start alongside his teammate for country, too. A small striker with a penchant for headed goals, definitely one to watch for the future.

[b]23.
Heitor Amando André MAURO Paredes
Height - 179 cm - Weight - 58 kg - Age: 24 years old - Club: Athletic Duozo
Mauro, like Fabio Rafael, has established a place in attack. Although he plays with Athletic Duozo, one of the lower teams in the top league, Mauro is linked with a move away, due to his amazing eye for goal, as he was one of the top scorers in the league.

24. Roman Hector Silva "ROMINHO"
Height - 184 cm - Weight - 57 kg - Age: 30 years old - Club: Fluresio Colocco
One of the only players playing abroad, Rominho is a sharp striker, still sharp at 28. Being Brasiliania's sixth most highest goalscorer, Rominho may not start due to players such as Fabio Rafael, Julio and Mauro, but he is sure to at least be a substitute and a good player for turning a game around.

25. JULIO Nuno Eustaquio Ferreira
Height - 183 cm - Weight - 59 kg - Age: 26 years old - Club: Sporting Adlanense
Another sharp goalscorer, both for club and country, Julio is another player in the crop of the new generation of Brasilianian players. A keen goalscorer, good with both feet and his head, Julio is a good candidate to lead the line for the team.

26. Lino Tiago Victore "LINÃO"
Height - 182 cm - Weight - 54 kg - Age: 28 years old - Club: FC Kolberg (SEM)
Unexpected. Unpredictable. Charismatic, enigmatic striker Linão is an energetic and vibrant striker, both on and off the pitch. Leading a heavy party lifestyle has often got him suspended, and he is sometimes sent off for dangerous tackling. Away from that, he has a good eye for goal but is yet to replicate his club form for his country, having a bit of a dip in country form.

27. Ruben LUCIO Bente SYLVESTRE
Height – 180 cm – Weight – 53 kg – Age: 19 years old – Club: SC Polaaberg (POL)
The youngest player in the squad, striker Lucio Sylvestre only recently broke into the U21 side. A summer move to SC Polaaberg cemented his reputation as a potential star for the future, and while it may be slightly unlikely he’ll play this time around, he’s likely to in the near future.

Starting XI
GK - Adalberto
DL - Álvaro Fonseca
DC - Hernandez (c)
DC - Ruben Martins
DR - Caixão
DMC - Marco Aurélio

MR - Rufinão

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-3-3
Style Modifier: +2
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - recently refurbished, a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: the Patriots

"It's amazing how three matches can change the tune of five years," Catherine Bardsley remarked acerbically in response to accusations that her Patriots have crumbled in tournament play - most recently levelled after three defeats in the World Cup group stages. This has been married to an accusation of never straying from the core of players she brought through, which has been rather inexpertly countered by bringing nineteen of the 23 who went to Yttribia last year - and the first XI is likely to be identical. The expectation is a top four finish. Can they do it? Well, with victories against Felix, Apox, Nephara and the Holy Republican Empire under their belts within the last three years, you wouldn't bet against them.

Overall Record
82 wins - 43 draws - 56 losses
306 scored - 244 conceded

First Team
Image

Tactics
Under Catherine Bardsley, the Brenecian national team will play aggressively for the first time in modern history. Assembling in a 4-3-3, Brenecia will rely on a fast, direct game, aiming to pump the ball forward, preferably on the wings. Meanwhile, the three central midfielders will assert themselves on the game - Breton (or Fife) in a holding role, the other two more free of movement and to create play. A very quick, athletic side, Brenecia will hope to catch defences off-guard through the pace of Scherzer (or Maddon) up front. With regards to skill, Brenecia are somewhat a patchwork as far as depth is concerned, but they have a solid first-team despite lacking any real star players.

Catherine BARDSLEY - 45
Manager

Under fire, but relishing the challenge. Bardsley, the former Kingsgrove manager, is widely considered the mother of the modern Patriots, fostering a true golden generation. Responsible for Brenecia's first, then second World Cups, but what's missing is silverware. The first Brenecian manager to pioneer a quick, attack-minded style of play, and it's worked out well for them.

Conrad KEANE - 41
Assistant Manager

A clever, canny man who enjoyed a career largely in the B-League, before becoming a player/interim manager and being quite successful. Later became scout, then head scout for Kingsgrove - but evidently managing is still high in his thoughts, and when Bardsley called him up he leapt at the chance. Rumoured to show some ambition towards the main job.
1 - Sara FAIRHALL - 32 - Image North Hall
20 caps, 7 clean sheets
Appearance
A tall, strongly-built blonde, with hair cut short and close-cropped.
Summary Sara Fairhall has been the outstanding A-League goalkeeper of recent seasons. She's stubbornly remained solid and workmanlike against the trend of A-League goalkeepers to be entertainingly eccentric and unreliable, and brings a firm presence to a Brenecian goalmouth that has often needed it. Somewhat susceptible to well-taken set pieces, however.

12 - Geneva URQUHART - 26 - Image Guilder
Uncapped
Appearance
Just 5'7", pointy-faced, stereotypically green-eyed and freckled ginger with short hair.
Summary A dark horse and eye-catching late riser to the challenge for the Patriots, with great reflexes and an unnerving way to get to shots no matter what. Great distribution and ability with her feet form about 90% of a complete product. The problem is that she's obviously pretty poor aerially, and she is just a little error-prone. Pence mark 2? Possibly, but she's probably going to be between the posts sooner rather than later.

20 - Olenna KNIGHT - 29 - Image Kingsgrove
Uncapped
Appearance
Tall, lean and quick on her feet, with a long, angular face and long brown hair.
Summary Knight is a good and reliable shot-stopper, but her energy coming out of goal, ability to keep calm with the ball at her feet and fantastic distribution have steaded her well with Kingsgrove. Not world-class, but certainly good enough to hold down her place. Her one weak point is that she can be a little flappy when coming out for crosses.
2 - Fiona BERENGER - 27 - Image Crisisbless
Right-back
51 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
A lanky, long-legged blonde. Small snake tattoo around her left wrist.
Summary An aggressive, attack-minded, nippy little fullback, used to providing width in a narrow Crisisbless side, and ideally suited to overlapping a side like this. Something of a two-trick pony with her pace and crossing, and can occasionally be suspect in defence, but adds a lot of dimension to this team.

3 - Miriam PORTADOWN - 29 - Image Kingsgrove
Left-back
56 caps, 6 goals
Appearance
Small, mousy, dark-haired woman with bright green eyes.
Summary More athlete than technician, Portadown's form's been dipping of late for country and her club in general is declining - it was Branagh who looked the more solid throughout last year. Still, she'll continue to put in her shifts both going forward and in defence, and her two-footedness gives her the enviable ability to cut inside and run the diagonal. It's given her the most goals of any Brenecian defender, and she's two matches short of being the nation's most-capped leftback.

13 - Brady MONROE - 29 - Image Northern Union
Centre-back
17 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Weathered-looking brunet, powerful build.
Summary The one who got away for Northern Union - formerly one of their top prospects as a teenager and a U-21 for Nephara through parentage, he was haunted by injury. The move abroad that seemed to be inevitable did materialise, but it was to the Nepharim second tier. After rebuilding his career, however, Monroe won a return to Union, and seems to have largely recovered from his cruciate hell. A powerful, talented centreback, set to be a fixture for club and country - but one has to wonder what could have been.

6 - Orson FAULKNER - 29 - Image AC Izotz Zubia
Centre-back, right-back
46 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
Weathered-looking auburn man with rough-hewn features.
Summary A heroic performer for Zozi in the LigAnaia, Faulkner's equally comfortable at centre- and rightback and could probably do a job on the left, or in defensive midfield. A daring defender who likes to step up into the midfield and play the ball, but also very capable at just sticking tight to his mark and keeping them out of the game. Probably the best defender on the team.

13 - Brandon DUGUID - 23 - Image Kingsgrove
Centre-back
2 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Classically athletic, with short auburn hair, stubble and piercing blue eyes.
Summary An actual defensive prospect in the A-League, Duguid is the man of the future for the national team. He's been starting for Kingsgrove since he was 20, excelling in the role of a centreback very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well as being no pushover defensively. This will be a relief, given that the last great prospect in the position was Emma Kelly, who cleverly combined the skillset of a midfielder with the physique of a winger to somehow be a centreback.

17 - Diandra BRANAGH - 28 - Image Northern Union
Left-back
9 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
5'3", unusually hourglassy blonde.
Summary A technically-adept leftback whose first cap has been long overdue. Not the quickest, but seemingly endless reserves of stamina keep her going the distance, sprinting the whole time. Doesn't score too many, but her crosses are lethal. Her form over the World Cup cycle has made her the favourite to start throughout the Campionato.

19 - Scout GIVEN - 25 - Image Bengtsmark IF
Right-back
12 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A tall, lean and angular sandy blonde with very deep brown eyes.
Summary A quick-footed and quick-witted rightback who's been starting in the A-League for years before a move to Buyan. The difference between her and Berenger, roughly even in talent, comes down to style - Berenger's greatest talents are going forward, Given's strengths are actually being a defender.

22 - Ash KILCANE - 28 - Image AC Zevella
Centre-back
17 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
Tall, strong and lean, with braided auburn hair.
Summary A devilishly fast player, Kilcane's no brute, but she can more than hold her own. A player most at home hanging tightly to her mark, harrying and lashing out at them over the course of the match, and rarely caught out of position - though her single-mindedness can occasionally count against her. Has been in and around the national team for a long time without ever really stamping a leading role in it.
4 - Augustine BRETON - 30 - Image Brinemouth
Holding Midfielder
65 caps, 0 goals
Appearance
A lean, tough-looking brunet with a generally severe expression.
Summary Breton has overcome criticism for club and country with a recent resurgence in form. Part of this is thanks to a reinvention under Stephen Frew - from the slow, suffocating possession-retention under Larissa Garrotte (winning him the nickname 'the Crab' among dissatisfied supporters) to quick, energetic passing. One touch to take the ball, a second to pass it, generally forwards. Keeps the team clicking, and is of course a strong anchor out of possession.

8 - Erin CAMDEN (c) - 31 - Image Northern Union
Central Midfielder
84 caps, 20 goals
Appearance
A lean, wiry brunette with a small face and frame.
Summary A fan favourite - not through being a fantastic player, but sheer willpower has converted a middling prospect, fringe Nephara U-21 and filler at Parrhesia United into a mainstay for club and country. Her long passes and free kicks aren't works of genius. They're works of practice, endless practice on the pitch, and she singlehandedly makes Brenecia a threat from any dead-ball situation while being a solid supporting central midfielder in general. Unquestioned captain.

10 - Catherine PURRINGTON - 26 - Image Wye United
Central Midfielder
44 caps, 15 goals
Appearance
A short, rather stocky, unathletic woman with a short mop of dark brown hair.
Summary Short, overweight, slow, one-footed. But what a foot. Purrington is pure technique and grace, the foil to more or less the entire rest of the team, with a touch that can be every bit as delicate or vicious as the situation demands. Contributes goals and assists by the bucket against even the strongest opposition, and is undoubtedly their best player in terms of ability, if not necessarily overall. Forms a vicious partnership with Scherzer.

16 - Diandra KILBANE - 26 - Image Lotus Park
Central Midfielder
7 caps, 2 goals
Appearance
6', angular auburn. Darting cat-green eyes.
Summary Probably the closest non-Purrington thing Brenecia's ever going to find to Purrington this generation, Kilbane is a true gamechanger. Gifted with a searing imagination and the penchant for killer balls to match, Kilbane's ambition can't quite match her ability all the time but when she does, nobody can doubt her ability as a playmaker. Is prone to off-days sometimes, and is perhaps a little too clever for her own good.

26 - Lilith FIFE - 26 - Image Kingsgrove
Holding Midfielder
1 cap, 0 goals
Appearance
A lean, 5'2" ginger, with a once-broken nose that never really set properly.
Summary The diminutive Fife is a ferocious terrier - of course, she has the passing range one would expect of a Kingsgrove player, but just as crucial is her harrying tendencies, going right for the ankles and simply refusing to be knocked off the ball herself by anything short of a shove. A cunt.

23 - Hecate CHARING - 28 - Image Rozelle
Central Midfielder
9 caps, 1 goal
Appearance
A six-foot-one hazel-eyed blonde, lean and muscular with an angular face.
Summary With the best passing range in the A-League, Charing's ability to find the perfect pass can cut A-League defences apart, and it's a handy skill at international level too. She's a capable all-rounder in other aspects, pulling her weight respectably until the critical moment she puts her clinical passing into action. A born leader, and a perfect penalty-taker.
7 - Isadora CULLEN - 27 - Image Barbury Town
Right Winger
49 caps, 14 goals
Appearance
Pale brunette with a sharp, ferretty face.
Summary Isadora Cullen is just a backup for Barbury but is a crucial cog in the machine for the Patriots. Quick of mind and body, and with a genuine flair to her play, Cullen's dangerous whenever she's on the ball and always looks to either make or enable those key runs past the defence. She proved her ability by scoring Brenecia's first ever World Cup goal and setting up their fifth and last by drawing a penalty - that said, she was scoreless during the Campionato Esportiva, something she'll be desperate to set right in Qualifying.

9 - Cheney SCHERZER - 29 - Image Wye United
Striker
62 caps, 40 goals
Appearance
Slick dark brown hair with an angular face and a prominent nose. Pin-up material.
Summary More than a simple pace merchant, Scherzer's workrate is diligent, his touch delicate, his finishing seamless. Doesn't add much to other phases of play, but the quick centre-forward is the man on the end of it all, racing past and through defenders and in a one-on-one situation, you'd back him every time. Needs nine more goals to become Brenecia's record scorer.

11 - Larissa CONNOLLY - 29 - Image Brinemouth
Left Winger
34 caps, 13 goals
Appearance
5'5", compact and muscular, with a dark brown ponytail.
Summary A star of the team. Started her professional career in Nephara for Mainstream Fist but despite scoring 15 top-flight goals in one season at the age of 22 in a weak team her opportunities there were limited. Instead, she had to rebuild her career with Falkner United before she finally found the opportunity to compete with a resurgent Brinemouth. Connolly's had to fight every inch to claw her way up the international ranks, but the reward has come by her staking her claim as Brenecia's number 11... just in time for its first World Cups. Incisive and cutting, fast, technical and most of all clinical.

14 - Sheila MADDON - 24 - Image Sabrefell Moths
Striker
Uncapped
Appearance
A 5'5", wiry auburn with a small, round face but piercing blue eyes.
Summary With a Brenecian mother, former Nephara U-21 international Maddon came out of nowhere to land into prominence after some consistent performances in the Premiership. Insanely quick (quicker than Scherzer) she's a consistent finisher marred only by a white-hot temper and a tendency to throw off her shirt during goal celebrations. Where she lacks is physicality, though she's a little too unafraid to stick her boot in.

15 - Adelaide SWAIN - 25 - Image Rozelle
Right Winger
9 caps, 1 goals
Appearance
Stereotypically freckled pale ginger, with a flashy undercut hairstyle.
Summary A rough diamond polished through being thrown into the fire at an early age. Exceptionally quick and always willing to run through fire for the team, she constantly creates chances but her technique isn't quite good enough to keep up. An exciting one to watch, but a somewhat controversial selection.

18 - Dani PENDRAGON - 26 - Image Northern Union
Left Winger
9 caps, 3 goals
Appearance
Average height and build, with short blonde hair and pale green eyes.
Summary A call-up has been overdue for Pendragon for years. She's a homegrown player for Union, an academy player who held down her place from an early age in a team determined to stud themselves in stars, and the reward's been overdue (delayed somewhat by Miriam Spitfire's existance). Fairly conventional skillset, sets up more than she scores and isn't the most robust physically, but while she might not have reinvented the formula she's certainly mastered it.

1 - Sara Fairhall (North Hall)
12 - Geneva Urquhart (Guilder)
20 - Olenna Knight (Kingsgrove)

2 - Fiona Berenger (Crisisbless, NPH)
3 - Miriam Portadown (Kingsgrove)

10 - Catherine Purrington (Wye United, APX)
16 - Diandra Kilbane (Lotus Park)
21 - Lilith Fife (Kingsgrove)
23 - Hecate Charing (Rozelle)

7 - Isadora Cullen (Barbury Town, APX)

14 - Sheila Maddon (Sabrefell Moths, NPH)
15 - Adelaide Swain (Rozelle)

The 13th Campionato Esportiva

Overall Record (through Campionato Esportiva 12)
GP 224, W 103, D 51, L 70, GF 429, GA 355, WP 45.98%

Staff
Manager: Rick MARTINEZ (61)
Record: GP 114, W 58, D 21, L 35, GF 242, GA 196, WP 50.88%
The former manager of Deportivo Nespa, where he won the domestic treble in the 2014-15 season. He was appointed with the job on a permanent basis after he guided the national team to another Round of 16 appearance at the Cup of Harmony at Valanora, on which he was managing the team on an interim basis. Martinez is a tackler for discipline and he is willing to drop any player he feels that is not ready for a match. He also schedules training for the senior squad two to three times a week, and anyone who misses training has a low probability of starting the next match. He is the first manager to guide the Agilang Dilaw to its maiden World Cup Finals, at the 68th edition of the World Cup in Legalese and Free Republics.

Assistant Manager: Lorick MANGABAY (49)
Assistant of Rick Martinez while at Deportivo Nespa. He always follow what Rick wants, but he is a hardworking staff. He usually gathers data of upcoming opponents in any way he can, and show it to Rick in order to formulate tactics against them.

Coaches: Jervin Datu (40), Dickson Atencio (40), Soren Morin (45), Isaiah Alquiros (59)
Physios: Solomon Andalencio (48), Edmund Aborita (65)

Style: +2.05
A slightly attacking formation, Martinez utilizes his wingers to deliver dangerous crosses and usually employs overlapping of wingers and fullbacks. This tactic was always seen when he managed the Los Islenos and don't be surprised when he uses it again effectively.
Formation: 4-4-2 diamond, switching to a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-1-2-2-1

Stadium
Image

Estadio Olimpico (Sangti, TRB; capacity 100,000)
Tenants: The Royal Barangay National Football Team, Konsehong Pampalakasan ng Maharlikang Barangay
Directions from the airport: Take the avenue going towards Calle Deportes. When at Calle Deportes, go about three blocks, and there is the stadium. This stadium is very near to StadiumSangti. Alternatively, there are buses that go directly from the airport to the stadiums in the capital.
Details: This newly built stadium was originally designed by Kytleran company BNW Varin. However, the inability of the company to built the stadium in time for the World Cup 66 qualifiers meant that the contract had to be passed to other capable companies. The local builder company Vilalobos Corp stepped up and constructed the stadium in time for the World Cup 67 Qualifiers. This stadium took over hosting of national team matches and hosting of the Copa del Barangay final and Supercopa Maharlika from Estadio Ferdinand Marcos, now known as StadiumSangti. The 100,000 capacity stadium has goal line technology installed in the natural grass pitch. Since this is a relatively new stadium, the government of Mazda Senina invested heavily in installing up to date amenities and technologies for the stadium, and since the assassination of the old supremo, security has been improved, with 3,000 CCTV cameras surrounding the stadium. This stadium hosted the final of the ninth Campionato Esportiva, with Taijan lifting the trophy after their 5-4 extra time win over German American States. The stadium also hosted the UICA Champions Cup 53 Final, where 1896 Ebor of Mytannion defeated Turoki United of Vilita, 1-0 to retain the title.

Kits

The Barangayan National team ended its kit deal with Kirola Sports at the conclusion of the 71st World Cup. They acquired the services of Libertad Sportswear Multiversal to provide the kits for the Agilang Dilaw.

Home kit will remain yellow, with black shorts, instead of an all-yellow configuration from the previous four World Cup campaigns. These shorts are still available as an alternate. The away kit is black, with yellow shorts, with black shorts as an alt. Keeper kits will be all-green with yellow trim.

FOOTBALL HISTORY

The football history of Buyan starts about half a century ago, when a couple of Esportivan communist exchange students decide to kick a ball around on a field not too far away from Vannarby. The game quickly spread across the islands which constitute Buyan and currently, football is tilting the crown as the most popular sport in the archipelago. With time, a nationwide professional Top Division has developed which has grown into a top-ten competition within less than a decade. With sides like former Globe Cup winner Viztourzys Kolektyvinis, reigning champion Blau-Weiss Pallstadt and perpetual giant Bengtsmark IF, it has a few internationally respected club sides that either have national titles of President’s Cups on their mantle. The national football pyramid, with 56 teams and still up for expansion is only the pinnacle of a popularity which mainly relies on the local teams and competitions. Only in a few pockets in the eastern part of Buyan, rugby and basket can endanger its number one position.

Before our international wake, Buyanese football was usually noted by powerful midfield play, with a lot of forward focus transcended in one man: a team was often defined by its type of attacking midfielder and the position was probably a bit overrated. Navickas and Cedar, by example, previously grew into the posterboys of their time that way. These days, the man around which Buyanese football revolves is Sverre Devold, although Piotr Kluszak might hold that position in the domestic Top Division. These stars of the new generations, however, demonstrated that the danger doesn't have to come from one person only and the ability from Viztourzys - and more recently Bengtsmark, Blau-Weiss and Jottnar - to deal with this new football reality have allowed them to grow to the highest level. The fact that Sirius Hope, the Paradystopian first and previous national team manager, held on to the same opinion has certainly helped to popularize the idea.

The old traditions were stamped out with a renewed midfield where the wings can produce a lot of danger as well, but with a larger focus on the defending as a whole. It used to be a typical vision in Buyan to see attacking players stay forward when the opposing team launches an attack, causing a lot of pressure and goals, but the national side doesn’t show so. A sturdy defence with a double lock on the door was the recipe which brought Buyan a Baptism of Fire and a World Cup debut, but after 88 international games, the reign of Hope stranded on a goalless draw against Kernansquillec in the WC 69 campaign. His successor, Nepharim Reinhard Shale gave the Blue Hedgehogs a whole new appearance. With his characteristic 4-4-2 diamond, Buyan not only qualified for their second World Cup – only to strand in the round of sixteen to the Polar Islandstates – but got a marvellous international title in the Campionato Esportiva. Buyan broke another glass ceiling and entered qualification for the first time as first seed but the result was a major deception. Shale failed to keep the train on the rails and when Apoxian Chris Maarsden took over, the damage was already done. Buyan misses the World Cup 71 and made a good showing at the Cup of Harmony, despite an elimination in the quarterfinals. Can Maarsden continue his unbeaten reputation or will the CE XIII live up to its number?

Top scorer: Duco Dalmshelf, thirty-nine goals
Most caps: Sverre Devold, one hundred and thirty caps

Buyan has come a long way since their debut interland, a poor 3-0 loss against Dandillis. Their first CE saw proper performances, but the Hedgehogs only got the taste of winning in their Baptism of Fire. Without dominating, they amassed the victories. After beating Kitsunia-Deesse and Dutciberg, they faced The Sarian in a final thriller. After one hundred twenty scoreless minutes, penalties had to decide upon a victor and the steel nerves from the Buyanese came out on top. The tournament marked Zemaitis, Havelund, Tufte and not in the least Sverre Devold as international players and lay the foundation of a respectable yet unsuccessful World Cup campaign.

Despite organising the next Campionato, it didn’t saw a real breakthrough of Buyan and the Beltane Cup ended in deception when Yttribia got the best of us, leaving us with bronze. But the World Cup qualifiers were exceptional, playing eighteen games back-to-back without a single loss. Taking the scalps of United Gordonopia, Thatius and the Equestrian States, Buyan surprisingly qualified for the World Cup 68 proper. After losses against Legalese and Osarius, Buyan grabbed three sweet points after a much contested duel against Rüntenbach, seeing Manuel Schmidt as a hero.

Their third campaign of international football has resolved in mixed results. Due to internal issues, a homegrown side had to contest the CE and the Beltane Cup. The CE ended faster than hoped, as Apox cut short the road to the quarterfinals, but the Beltane resulted in the second trophy in the cabinet, as we once again showed more cool on penalties against Greater Watford. The expectations were high: a second World Cup qualification was a must but that did not work out at all, resulting in Sirius Hope getting the boot. A good final sprint with a draw against Audioslavia nor a second round in the Cup of Harmony did not really resolve the question marks.

The moderate spell continued as the CE XI was no success by any standard, but with a new cycle starting, Shale wanted to bring the national team to a new level. The silver from the Beltane Cup already lifted the spirits and the result was a stellar campaign in which the Hedgehogs surprisingly managed to overcome a strong opponent such as Turori and qualified one match ahead of the end of the qualifiers. Their second World Cup became a success as after a loss against Pasarga, Buyan was the better of Runtenbach and San Jose Guayabal with Devold as their key player. Eventually, they lost out to Polar Islandstates and Kolehmainen in the Round of 16, but that can’t be considered a shame.

Last cycle, already their fifth in international football, started quite exceptional with a surprising victory in the Campionato Esportiva. With a clean run, they overcame Hicana and Nephara before taking out organising nation Apox in a penalty thriller. Ulle Seber stopped the leather twice and Rettinger scored the crucial kick. With this in mind, only qualification to the World Cup in Yttribia and Felix was an option but the Hedgehogs lost too many points along the road. A draw against Matthewsiania after losses against the Equestrian States and Kandorith cost the head of Reinhard Shale. His replacement Chris Maarsden dropped only two points – but due to a three-way tie Buyan didn’t even make the play-offs. The Cup of Harmony saw a similar route, going without a loss but an early elimination by Valanora.

SQUAD

Maarsden selected twenty-six players for this Campionato Esportiva with few unexpected names. Marciak replaces Ralaanen as third goalie - his upgrade to the Nepharim Championship certainly a helping hand there. In defence, veteran Smetona stays aboard and Bortkiewicz is the surprising replacement of Mamontovas and Ruutu as back-up back-up central defender. No Kluszak either, his spell at the national team seems over for good - an end of a promising player who saw his hopes for the national team barred by a better one, Sverre Devold.

STAFF

Goalkeeper Manager: Steponas Teriouris, Image

Steponas is used to living success on the bench. In the early days of the Golden Period for Viztourzys, he was the back-up goalie for Manuel Schmidt. After stopping his active career at the honourable age of 41 – with a few Kolektyvinis trophies in the bag and playing minutes in the last match of the 2018 title season as heights – he joined the BFB. Initially as youth scout, later on as U17 and U21 manager. Some whisper that his presence is a prelude to taking over one day, but for now he’s just a good goalkeeper coach.

Assistant Manager: Adam Kossakovsky, Image

Before saying goodbye to club football, Kossakovsky was known as a free kick hero and captain over at SK Sturm Nuuk. When his time at the Anchors ended, he was picked up by the Lads. During his years over at Wye United, having an indian summer at the midfield, the connection with his coach Chris Maarsden grew, so when the Apoxian took the job at Buyan – he joined the flight. He’s a reliable fellow and a warm contact for the players.

Manager: Chris Maarsden, Image

First there was Sirius Hope. The Paradystopian brought the Baptism of Fire trophy to Buyan and qualified us for a first World Cup. Then it was Reinhard Shale who led the troops – and in style as can be judged by the Campionato Esportiva on the mantle and the round of 16 in the WC70 in mind. On the plus side, he has a few things in accordance with his predecessors. He’s still young, aged 40, and his active career had been cut short by an ACL injury in a friendly against the Polar Islandstates. Like Shale, he brought in silverware as club coach with Wye United, whom he turned from second tier players into a UICA challenger and Marshall Cup winners.

Furthermore, Maarsden has an extensive career behind him on the pitch. Still number three on the all-time top scorers list and the first player to hit the net a hundred times in the ANL, Chris Maarsden is an Apoxian legend. His favoured formations are either a 4-1-3-2 or a 4-4-1-1, in both situations having pacy wingers who can bring the ball up the pitch and either cross it into the strikers or attempt to dribble it into the box, with the strikers tending to be the tall, target man types. He liked to play the a deep lying centre midfielder/defensive midfielder, to anchor the team down and distribute balls from around the half way line as well as being an extra line of defence. What will be crucial is his capacity to keep everyone satisfied – and with a slightly frustrating Cup of Harmony behind them, this Campionato sets the bar quite high.

KITS

Image

After sporting regular blues for the Campionato Esportiva VIII, Buyan addressed Vulpine Sportif who provided them with beautiful kits, both in a blue edition for the home side and red ones for the away games. But time flies and the BFB rightfully decided that it was time for an update.

The result is the above marvellous shirts, kindfully provided by AER Sportswear. This modern touch certainly has added to our flair. We’ll wear these excellent shirts with pride, added with red shorts and socks. The goalie takes the field in an all white outfit.

STYLE & TACTICS

Style Modifier: -0.42

Some will whisper that we’re returning back to the past with Chris Maarsden as the Nepharim narrow diamond 4-4-2 gets swapped again for a single striker. Then again, this is not the 4-2-3-1 Sirius Hope cultivated. With the deep-lying Sverre Devold as playmaker, this could be some sort of 4-1-4-1. Or maybe it is a 4-2-3-1, but with active wings. We’re not yet entirely sure of it, but it looks pretty balanced.

On goal, it will be Jan Erhardt who will wear the gloves. No major surprise to those of you who catch his performances at Blau-Weiss, but he never got a real chance from Reinhard Shale. His stint so far was not exceptional, but he still has better cards than his back-ups, Saldlund who never brings the same for the Hedgehogs as for his domestic side, the young Marciak or the unnoticed yet gifted Ralaanen.

The backline seldom sports surprises during the last few years. Zemaitis’ name is carved in stone on the left-back position – although it is slightly remarkable that Raestad replaces Dziuba as back-up, the latter having been less this season. The middle duo goes by the names Giertych – Tufte, with the latter one being more experienced but due to his temper and the raw talent of Rafal Giertych, it’s the Jottnar defender who is considered the rock in front of the goalie. Grobanov and Bortkiewicz should provide back-ups - but only poorly. On the right, Giedius Justs finally seems to get past Smetona as starting player yet the man from Liberty Rodriguez still forms an alternative when a more attacking man is needed.

The retirement of Quinten Zermin on the six is still felt, but Wladecki tries to put his game to the next level and live up. With the silent yet remarkable Venclova going past him, he’ll have to do better than during the last cycle. Sverre Devold discovers a new role for himself and didn’t act too shabby during the big games. Well aware that his speed is falling yet his vision sharp, it might turn out to be a golden move by Maarsden.

In midfield, the Apoxian manager shows his interest for pacy wingers with the duo Prinsen – Castell. One is the hot stuff from Pajukas Sport with majestic dribbles, the other has been on the national team for a decade, a favourite and reliable stand-in for guys who have less lungs than him. Ullsmang is a similar type as back-up, Lammerschon is more a working horse, Plovnarov and all-rounder. The surprising CAM is Espen Knutsen. His great skills over at the Nepharim Premiership gets appreciated, he’s not a typical number ten and often operates from the right side, but knows where the goal is and has keen vision. Young Stepaniak fills the midfield roster.

Last but not least, there is the striker position. A vital one in this system. So far, it seems that Duco Dalmshelf will take that spot as the guy with the highest production of all time. But is he enough target man to deal with it? Either way, back-ups are available. Not in the least Knut Dahle, at age twenty-one already a prolific scorer and a great talent. A storm in front of the mouth and a gentleman off the pitch. The more experienced Balnerii and Rettinger form other options next to the young poacher Pajari and supersub Sil Moen makes the attacking system flexible – he’s both an attacker and a midfielder, a winger and a striker, a lover and a hater.

Notes

After a disastrous 70th World Cup cycle, Rule Theriault's privately owned National Soccer Team was nationalized by Consul Kulseth's Imperial Government. The self-destruction of the Holy Republicans was the defining story of World Cup 70, as this team feuded amongst themselves for all of Qualifying, eventually failing to qualify for the World Cup Finals. They were rewarded for their ineptitude with a trip to the Cup of Harmony, a tournament that will be remembered for Rule Theriault's bizarre meltdown during a post-match press conference, after his team had won a match! The conclusion of Theriault's tenure as the manager of the Holy Republican National Team will cast a dark shadow over his accomplishments.

However, Theriault had impressive accomplishments as the manager of this team. Assembling a team of high school dropouts, reform school stars and other rogues of society, Theriault created a cohesive unit that, at one point, were able to beat the best teams in the multiverse by the sheer power of their belief in themselves and in the inherent superiority of the Republican people. This was never exemplified more than during World Cup 68, when Theriault's predictions that his team would win the World Cup on home soil were laughed at by pretty much everybody outside of his own nation. However, few were laughing when a series of miraculous victories saw the Republicans knock off the supposedly unbeatable Polar Islandstates and earn a spot in the World Cup final. Then, it all began to fell apart as Theriault threw a fit over the decision, by his co-hosts from Legalese, to hold the match in Legalese. The team came out flat in that match and began a decline that eventually led to Theriault's downfall.

Petrus Fadius was hand-picked by the Consul to manage the National Soccer Team. Fadius was, formerly, the Tactical Consultant for the Saintland National Team. For his assistant, he chose Lucas Gavius, another talented former Sanctii captain with a similar mentality. Fadius and Gavius are committed to an attack-heavy style and have chosen to revamp the Republican National Team, with an eye toward team chemistry. Notorious locker room cancers such as the female players and Kiernan Hancock are gone while Sachiya Inoue, the well-liked, if somewhat awkward, Taiyouese star has joined the leaner Republican unit. Theriault's ridiculous "Cheerleading" squad, which was little more than a thinly veiled communal harem, has also been disbanded.

This younger Republican National Team, while still built around star attackers Kyle Bolton and Koby Theodore, included several first time starters. Most notable among there were Levai Imre, the supremely talented young keeper and Inoue. While the team has a shaky defense, they have an offense-oriented philosophy and are more interested in scoring goals than preventing them. After a third placed finish at World Cup 71, they have elected to send their full team to the Campionato Esportiva. Assistant Manager Lucas Gavius will not be with the team at the CE, due to his commitment to coach the DBC squad.

An important note is that the official name of the nation is the Holy Republican Empire and that referring to the nation as the "Free Republics" or "Federation of Free Republics" is considered highly offensive by the Holy Party and those aligned with them. Usage of those names for the nation is associated with opponents of the Kulseth regime such as the Legion of Lucifer, which is ICly believed to be responsible for the arson attack on the legislative buildings.

4 days after the facts

“Hi, mum, how are you doing?”

What surprised her most at first was not his slightly ridiculous question but the force within his voice as she could imagine his characteristic grin at the other side of the line. He had always been like that, a bit rash both in words and actions.

“I’m ok... How are you?”

It was a lie, a blatant one to be even more honest. For the last ninety-six hours, journalists had trampled her rosary and front yard. It had been just one, who already appeared on the porch minutes after the police had informed her, at first and quickly a second one came along. What followed was a continuous parade of mosquitos from newspapers and magazines she had never heard of before who came to feast upon the blood of her son. One by one, they tried to suck a scoop out of her and anyone affiliated to them. Friends, neighbours, old strangers, … Anyone got their turn to account old bills from the future.

Every detail got torn out of its frame and became a fact, became ‘proof’. The story about how he refused to let his teammates score as a little kid, instead of giving it to a less talented teammate if they were already numerous goals up. Proof. That one time he tossed a dissected frog to the biology teacher – or wait, had that been his class mate, not important. Proof. His habit to run late at night, a black hoodie and headphones ready – if only just to avoid fans. Proof.

Proof of how her son, Stefan Hostmann, was a danger to society and a psychotic maniac.

“Not too bad. Of course I was in shock at first, it was all so quick and strange. But my lawyer reassured me, I mean, it was an accident, a horrible accident, but I’m not to blame. It’s annoying I’m here in confinement but – well, that’s standard I think. My case should come up quickly, so I’ll be home soon.”

She mumbled something along the lines of ‘yes, indeed, I’m looking forward to your release’. But she knew better, as mothers tend to do.

19 days after the facts

“And as a consequence, the accused will be trialled for the murder of Abel Luchenwill.”

All his senses seemed to go through a post-traumatic experience. His eyes were still swollen from the sudden impact of the light when he was brought into the court room after over two weeks of solitary confinement. The skin from his wrists ached from the handcuffs, which had been itchy at first and now plainly annoying. He could still taste the salt on his lips from his tears when those final words were spoken aloud, words that reverberated in his mind.

As he tried to get things together, the lorry suddenly stopped and he fell forward on hands and knees. Tied, he failed to stand up and that was how the guards found him when they opened the slide doors. Being late in the evening, the sunrays no longer hurting him, he could make up from the letters above the large gate that he had arrived at the Baskin Provincial Criminal Institute. Without further ado, they dragged him out of it and put him on his feet like a bag of potatoes and surrounded by guards, he shuffled through the short driveway into one of the building, big blocks of concrete whose pinned mouth had devoured another human being.

After some humiliating obligations, he entered the cellar hall dressed in a shapeless blue outfit which fitted only with the environment – and not at all with his body, the one from a professional sportsmen in decay. In a way, it was a zoo, seeing how all these humans were packed behind bars, either solo or in duo. Some voice inside his head had warned him before entering this place. If he would just lift up his head and show from his appearance that an honest man walked by, a popular personality who had suffered from the wrongdoing of the official authorities, they would respect him. Maybe even admire him a little b…

Clang.

At first it had been only one of them.

Clang. Clang.

With a bizarre smile on his face, cut in half by a grotesque scar, he smacked his iron cup into the bars in front of him. He looked like the village idiot, with his big dog-like eyes and lips that stood far apart without a sound, dribble dripping from the corner of his mouth.

But another one joined in. And another one. By the time he reached his cell, the self-confidence of Stefan Hostmann was battered by the sound and was chased into a forgotten corner of his mind to last there for a long time. What really would haunt his dreams – both at day and at night – were the prophetic words from the idiot when his cell door with a big black 812 opened.

“Welcome to hell, murderer.”

315 days after the facts

“Any books or newspapers?”

Sarah had learned over time to whisper those words after a soft knock on the cell door – although the creeping wheel of her trolley already warned them upon her arrival. Both for the more aggressive and the jumpy ones, this mode of conduct made the most sense – for the first category to avoid a series of sexist slurs, for the latter ones to avoid cries of despair. If she would have friends or family, they’ld probably wonder why someone in her right mind would be interested in doing this as a voluntary worker, trying to give the prisoners of the Baskin Provincial Criminal Institute some food for thought, a moment for escape – if only in their mind. But she had friends nor family and acquaintances often wondered if she was in her right mind.

The man in 812 was of the second category. Well, man… From his fluttered shirt and meagre legs, the word ‘boy’ was more appropriate. They had told him once that he was a celebrity, a football or a rugby player or something of that kind – something that Sarah couldn’t care about less. For some reason, he had been the punching bag of his fellow prisoners upon arrival, more than often with huge scars and wounds – or worse. According to the guards, some of ‘the guys’ couldn’t cope with someone convicted for murder for what they saw as a legitimate reason – a pretty vague term if you asked her. But her theory was a lot simpler, more tribal – if you’re down in the gutter, it’s sadistically amusing to find someone who has fallen from much higher to much lower.

“I haven’t finished it yet,” the shadow of a once handsome young man responded, holding up the book he was reading in a gesture that was both a sign and a protection – holding it in front of his face to guide a fresh gash in his lip. It bothered Sarah how his eyes and cheeks were hollow, a testimony to his malnutrition. According to the official versions, there was plenty enough food and leisure provided to the inmates. According to the raw facts, those with no gang to support them spend the hour of ‘outdoors activity’ curled up in a corner of the brick stone yard and had to try and put as much as possible of their meagre ration down their throat before someone with more brute force took it away from them.

Prisoners could receive visitors – but only under circumstances that could be described as Kafka-esque. Opening hours from three thirty to four in the night on the fifth Tuesday of the month, something like that and please wait in line. You could send packages with food and souvenirs to salvage the time to your inmate. You could send them, nothing was said about arrival.

“I see, one of my favourite authors. It’s a good one,” she tried to make conversation.
Her attempted died at a muttered “yeah.”

The calendar tucked against the furthest wall of what only by approximation could be called a room – a shelf against the wall with a small cabinet and a bucket serving for a toilet was a more correct description – told Sarah that he was far from doing his time. Eight years. Eight long years to rot a human being into a ghost. Rehabilitation of prisoners – and prisoners tout court – were no priority for the Buyanese government.

“Maybe a newspaper?” Sarah tried to connect – well aware that this man, this number to the Buyanese authorities, had gone past the moment of connection to the outer world.
“What’s in it,” he asked.
“The Grephel Times? Something about the zoo, about a new car factory and,” she tried to sound enthused, “it has a special upon the new football season, let’s see,” she read, “Bengtsmark big favourite, Blau-Weiss armed as a contender, how will Ernesse do in their opening…”

Before halfway the titles, he had turned away, facing the wall. She quietly put back the paper and pushed her trolley towards the next cell.

XI for the opening match

Erhardt --- Justs, Giertych, Tufte, Zemaitis --- Wladecki, Devold --- Castell, Knutsen, Prinsen --- Dahle

For those of you – probably most – who have not read my RPs in the World Cup, or noticed it in any of the references by Nephara and others.
At age 16, Stefan Hostmann was the revelation of a minor team called Blimt United – an unknown pearl somehow missed by the Bengtsmark IF youth academies.
At age 17, Stefan Hostmann was the hot prospect from reigning champion Viztourzys Kolektyvinis, a refreshing striker with a nose for goals, scoring more than often.
At age 18, Stefan Hostmann was the youngest international ever to play for the Hedgehogs, appearing for what should have been a long series of caps but eventually were only three replacements.
At age 19, Stefan Hostmann was the major incoming transfer for Blau-Weiss Pallstadt after a difficult year for Viztourzys – losing his status to international.
At age 20, Stefan Hostmann was a gifted striker, eagerly trying to revamp his career with good intentions.
At age 21, Stefan Hostmann is a pariah to everyone in the footballing world after the murder of Abel Luchenwill. Was it an accident of homicide? The facts, with Hostmann pushing over his teammate who fell on the corner of the table, hitting his head violently, told the judge the latter.

Wait, this isn't about the CE! Patience.

Formation, Starting XI, and Style

Image

Style Modifier= +0.5

Lee is an attacking coach, and has transformed the Lions into a more aggressive team than they were before. He has, however, had to compromise his preferred all-out attacks strategy for a more measured approach that Nova Anglicans are familiar with. From Moran, we saw his favorite 1-4-4-1, which eventually transformed into 4-1-4-1, and then morphed into 4-6-0 due to a lack of quality strikers under Gabriel in the CEXI. Lee has elected a 4-2-3-1, which allows him to utilize the defensive talents of Cesar Martinez as well as the attack of Emmanuel Moga. Despite the 4-2-3-1 being a neutral or defensive-leaning formation, Lee has assured the press that his attacking philosophy will be present. The wingers, Parker (graduated to the starting lineup) and Fleming, will press the flanks (supported by Bradley Lancaster the fullback) as Moga and Hodges the striker attack down the middle. The capable Philip Castillo will be more aggressive than Martinez (since he's not a natural DM), but Lee has promised that Martinez will be able to unleash his thunderbolt of a shot on free kicks.

San José Guayabal (SJG) National Team

Image

The Guayabalense NT in the last cycle

After some time of success during the World Cup 70 Qualifiers and also during a great part of the World Cup 71 Qualifiers where they almost dominated their group but felll off in a last matchday game against the top seed, Saintland, there was hope at playoffs but a fatal error from Hernández turned one of the most memorable comebacks of Guayabalense football (From losing 0-2 to winning 4-2 at home and going to WC during those minutes) into another missed chance to be in the World Cup Finals, an own goal in the 92nd minute was enough to send San José Guayabal to the CoH again.

That CoH was beileved to be a fiasco according to some sport pundits, a sahem at home was forecasted but the national team, under the conduction of Paulo Oliveira and Alfredo Herrera performed an spectacular participation that made dream to an entire nations, reaching the final with a new game style, very solid in defense, allowing just one goal during the entire tournament, the final against an historic team like Valanora was the launching platform to glory for La Selecta, who after a hard fought game, they lifted the champions trophy after beating the Vanorians 4-3 in Penalty Kicks.

Now, this national team took that portion of inspiration that they needed to do the things well, they know that achieving major accolades isn't an impossible task, secially with a young and talented squad like this one, now at the World Cup 72 Qualifiers, La Selecta wants to put the pedal to the metal literally and fight for a World Cup Finals berth and then try to do their best in order to beat the Group Stage barrier.

After undesirable results in the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, La Selecta decided to start a reengineering in its game system, after proving that a good defence is not something from other planet, receiving fifteen goals in fourteen matches during the World Cup 71, a new slightly defensive system was established in the team, featuring for the first time a line of four midfielderss, trying to block the highest number of possibilities of the rival team, also including a rookie into the team, Abraham Terrazas is having his first experience as the goalkeeper of the Starting XI, with one midfielder who can have a rol of defence like Núñez, this team is probably a quite defensive version of La Selecta. A key aspect that changes a bit from the other lineups used throughout the history, is the use of two strikers instead, in order to keep the offensive capacity that has characterized the football of the National Team and maybe the bastion of the whole Guayabalense football.

The "home" roster of SJG features the use three defenders with some experience like James Moreira and Meyson Salume, both can act as key players if we talk about the realization of transitions to offensive plays meanwhile Passarelli is the team sweeper and also most experienced of the team in terms of playing in the international scene, specifically in UICA tournaments. In the midfield we can see a rhombus shaped position of four players, being Saucedo and Bregoo a kind of fake forwards due to the changing role of the tactical system that can feature five forwards in case of need and Núñez together with Valencia can be sort of defence in case of need. In resume this strategy helps in defence and attacking because it can turn into a 3-2-5 in attacking moments or a 5-2-3 in defending moments, creating a complete system that can help the team to achieve victory at any cost.

There are three words to describe the game style of La Selecta being that: efficience, speed and withe, something that makes the team look solid at any time, no matter the game but it is a team that rarely gives up, even if the conditions are totally against, the team tries to score early, to score the highest amount of goals and going decidedly to the front in order to score, to fight with courage every ball and also having a high esteem and sense of unity as a team.

Game style: The game who SJG does is essentially technical, based on the agility of movement from the players, using their intelligence for the game to find lone spaces and perform single passes that are very accurate and "in depth", they like to accumulate players while attacking or using the surprise factor which is use the speed of the players to perform counter attacks that usually have a good level of effectivity, taking in consideration that this is a team who thinks in score the goals as fast as possible instead of defending (Well known as "The Kill or Die Philosophy." Which is the most used tactic on Guayabalense football throughout his history), something that they do even when they face a football powerhouse or a extremely offensive team, no matter the rival, the objective is score the highest amount of goals and win the three points.

In the defence area, they tend to use physical game style in order to set conditions to the rivals, despite that the defenders are of medium height, they are well known for their skill at aerial game, so it is very difficult to beat them, specially in corners or set pieces, expect always fair play from this team, avoiding to do fouls into the last 25-30 meters of their defence area.

Players normally like to do long-distance shots or seek for chances in aerial game via set pieces or corners, specially with Árbol Saucedo and Mattías Passarelli, who are the tallest players of the entire squad. Still, this team can do some special moves, considering the idea of the team of never give up and trying to be efficient while attacking.

The Managers

Paulo Oliveira 46 Y/O, Nationality: Valladar Image

Strict, offensive and organized are three words that describes the new manager of San José Guayabal National Team, former player of the one time Globe Cup champions, Marinos Metrópolis (He coached on the final series) and them he served to Marinos and helped them to achieve the best positions on the Valladar Liga-1, going to Champions' League berths or Globe Cup berths, his seasons on charge of Marinos showed always a nice display of game, being direct, offensive and with high pressure to the rival defenders, a manager who tends to be strict but motivating to the players of the National Team, Oliveira is one of those managers with a high devotion to football and his environment, specially the ones like the Guayabalense football atmosphere, with a lot of pressure and expectations from the fans and the Football Federation itself. His arrival to La Selecta has already received good criticism, as being "one of the best decisions that the FGF could have made", considering the zestful and strict character of Oliveira, good results can be expected from a renovated National Team.

Alfredo Herrera 68 Y/O, Nationality: Aquillian (Part of Osarius) Image

We've all heard the anecdotes about Aquillian's national football team manager Alfredo Herrera, and how he is sometimes "endearingly zany". His open training sessions during some friendlies, or at tournaments like the the Cup of Harmony or WCQ, reveal some -- but not the full extent of his preparations. He stands on the touchline, barking the same orders over and over until they are followed perfectly. "Retreat! Retreat now!" he barks at his wingbacks during one exercise. "You have less than seven seconds to return or they will pierce the gap!" His barking continues. "Release immediately! No hesitation! No delay! Control, release, move! Control, release, move!" His players are practicing to execute his commands with such speed and efficiency, they appear almost instinctive. The level is intense. He shuffles things around. Rotates players. Alters the tempo. Introduces more rules. Removes rules. The withdrawal, surveying and tinkering process repeats itself several times over before he appears satisfied. "Excellent! This is how we go! This is how we win!" He finally bestows some praise upon his players.

Starting XI Bio

Abraham Terrazas 17 Y/O, Goalkeeper of Izotz Zubia (AUD) Image

Maybe the youngest keeper on the history of the National Team, Terrazas was even more young when he left to the Audioslavian powerhouse Izotz Zubia, though his youngness was a limitant to be on the starting XI, he taked advantage of any chance he had to demonstrate his best level of game, through the time, Terrazas has been climbing to the top in his club, after some time, he is fighting for a spot on the starting XI and he has more action on it, Terrazas is probably the new promise of the Guayabalense football under the three posts.

James Moreira 19 Y/O, Left Defender of Canterlot Royals (EQS) Image

Young but experienced, Moreira is the typical player who can receive love or hate, his special location in the roster mades him a key player in terms related to defending, being the sweeper but also being one of the creators of the game, despite falling in nerves sometimes the youngest of their football dynasty family as the Moreiras are, his good leadership and attitude makes him being an excellent player in the team.

Mattías Passarelli 25 Y/O, Central Defender of Delare Minon (YTT) Image

The oldest of the defenders in the Starting XI and also the one with more experience in the team, Mattías played in the NT since they were an almost amateur-ish side, he played in Alianza FC and achieved three titles, enough to do his move to the Yttribian powerhouse of Delare Minon, when he got another three league tournaments including one solid run in the UICA Globe Cup made him a worship idol for the fans of the team, he doesn't plans to move of the team, because he feels the love of the fans.

Meyson Salume 18 Y/O, Right Defender of East Franz Athletic (PIS)Image

The reliable Salume is back, after being injured for some matches, the strongest player of the teams is now in action to keep the order in the defence, his role is defend but he does the task of midfielder quite often, his strong point of being tall makes him an ideal player to keep the National Team without many troubles, but his slow speed can make some trouble over there, and can do more due to his motivaion caused due to his arrival to Polarian lands

Rudy Valencia 23 Y/O, Midfielder (Destroyer) of Oakstone (EUR) Image

The globetrotter of San José Guayabal, a player who did his labour in three nations like Mangolana, and Chiata, now is in Eura to show his quality, Valencia's role is being the destroyer of any attempt of play creation in the midfield, his confidence is a strong point for him but his loose reaction when gets booked it's a trouble for SJG, specially to avoid red cards.

Sebastián Núñez 20 Y/O, Left Midfielder of SK Nasjonale Hauker (PIS)Image

Probably one of the youngest promises for Guayabalense football in the future, Núñez is one of the interesting players to follow in the team due to his special moves in the midfield, a player who wants to kick the ball from far as possible and pput it inside of the opposite goal, Núñez is more offensive than the average midfielder in terms of moves across the pitch.

Leónidas Bregoo 25 Y/O Midfielder of FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS) Image

The Rulandese borned but Guayabalian by nationality Leónidas Bregoo is actually the heart of the midfield with his team mate Rudy Valencia, Brego is essential in the midfield specially at the moment of being offensive or defensive due to his time-pacing function in the field, with good skills as headers, long crossed passes and long distance shots, considering his good height of 195 cms, is a good header in the area, in conclusion he's the heart of the team.

Árbol "Tree" Saucedo 21 Y/O, Right Midfielder of Wye United (APX) Image

The tallest of the team, say hi to the 202 cms high player of the Apoxian team of Wye United. Saucedo is without doubt the main weapon of the team in headers and also one of the main defenders, taking advantage of his size, Saucedo tends to run fast in counterattacks, with a speed worthy to compete with the best in the Games of the Olympiad.

Sean "Black Panther" Fraser 25 Y/O, Right Striker of Real Azuris (COS) Image

The top scorer of all the time in the National Team, the useful Sean Fraser is a deadly weapon in the strikers zone, counterattacks, long shots and headers makes him a player who can score in any way possible in any moment, dangerous by his skill and technical game with the dribbling, is a headache for the defenders.

Jonathan "Atomic Flea" Faña 27 Y/O, Left Striker of Oljestaden IF (AUD)Image

Little in size but extremely fast, the "Flea" tends to be very technical and does a lot of dribbles, he can't shot so well from large distances but his excellent speed and counterattack skills makes him a rather interesting player to follow, the bad thing is that he's overconfident and can fail goals even in front of the goal, even if the Goalkeeper was beated by his drible. Well he has a bad luck.

Rodolfo "Fito" Zelaya: 25 Y/O Striker of 1830 Cathair (AUD)Image

Considered the SJG's best player good among the groups of football experts and fans all around in the country, the 25 years old player born in Islas Canarias near the Esportivan South Pole is a player that features good skills if we talk on the goal scoring and headers being the most accurate player if we talk of shots to goal, this crack is the one to put the spotlight on and his strong point is definitively the long distance shots taking in consideration his good skills at bending balls.

Specialities: Free kick.

Introduction

The Constitutional Monarchy of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group offering him to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments. A former colonizers ancestral heritage and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this guide basic data information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of his ethnic group or the like.

Many centuries later, the picture did not change in ethnic background, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much more informed through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, we mean the Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then.

In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasingly thriving tourism industry and micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced its breakthrough in the future and seek to overcome adversity to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate geographical features.
The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and extremely volcanic relief, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens, decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. El Valle is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the control systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

In terms of natural phenomena we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate.

The migrating of geese occur during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head north of Esportiva. These spectacles often bring many people to be witnessed, because they have an enormous facility to witness each of these phenomena.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires and use always your seatbelt, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the beginning of time to the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported your culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, but yes there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally accompaniment to the main course, where it normally waits for all those who eat at the same table finish their plate, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes and should you be invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the Community youth playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you are so want to call, many fans to stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, hypes, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the bars organized teams or selection, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the national team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, as if they are the perpetrators, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 crowns (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if they occur fatalities.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hatred and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that stadiums are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Spanish Long Version - For Formal Acts and/or Ceremonies

¡Despierta, Guayabalense, del sueño de la muerte
en el que te sumieron los tiranos!
Ahora o nunca, fórjate otro destino
ante el cual se inclinen tus enemigos.

Ahora o nunca

Awaken thee, Guayabalense! wake up from deadly slumber
The scourge of inauspicious tyrannies
And now or never to a bright horizon clamber
That shall to shame put all your enemies.

It's now or never that we prove to the world
That in these veins still flows Guayabalense blood
And in our hearts for ever we glorify a name
Triumphant in battles, the name of Ramírez.

Behold, imperial shadows, Barbosa, Hernández, Suárez
At the Guayabalense nation, your mighty progeny
With arms like steel and hearts of fire impetuous

Do whatever the bloody hell you like. Not like I have an enormous stake into what happens to stray animals TAO found lying around on the streets...

Omerican Men’s National Team
Regarding Omerican participation in CE XIII

Turanga ʻAhipula ʻo ʻOmerika
6 Jacques la Rouge Road
Port-Alexandre, Philibiscostal 18-A40
Commonwealth of Omerica

The Turanga ʻAhipula ʻo ʻOmerika is aware of its commitment to participate in the thirteenth edition of the Campionato Esportiva, to be hosted by San José Guayabal and the Star United States. However, the TAO has reservations about participating to its fullest capacity in the competition due to the format proposed by the bidding nations.

The TAO believes that the proposed group-stage format of the thirteenth Campionato Esportiva (a double round-robin) presents an unacceptably long and intense commitment for Omerican players to make for a confederal competition. As the TAO does not wish to commit the members of the Omerican Men’s National Team to an absence from clubs to an overt detriment to Omerican football, the Omerican Men’s National Team will not be called up to participate in the thirteenth Campionato Esportiva.

Instead, with the agreement of member clubs and the management staff of Omerica’s national football teams, the TAO shall not field a team of human players in the thirteenth Campionato Esportiva. Instead, the TAO has agreed to draft eleven local stray cats and dogs from around the venue location as the Omerican side in each of its matches. As part of a goodwill programme, the TAO shall cover all veterinary bills for the selected animals and seek to adopt them to suitable homes in the area.

After all, it’s not as if our human players will do any better than stray animals could do…

As always, we send our best regards to all of our fellow associations and fans of football around the multiverse.

All-Time Record: (W-D-L) (61-28-46) | 40-12-8 under Cardona [WCC sanctioned and regional competitions]

Coaches:
Head Coach: Daniel Cardona (FEL)
Assistant Coach: Gabriel Russell (OSR)
Assistant Coach: Bailey Linville

Well Cardona is still in, so there's that. Russell and Linville are still assisting him, but eh. Same old managerial squad, but the post-Vilhjalmsson era begins right now.

A nation of around forty-six million, Yttribia is located between the nations in Thrilledge and Byfugland, on the continent of Inferiore, in the region of Esportiva; its capital being Fontvieille. The nation's border between the two countries consists of a mountain range known as the Urellans, where most of the Urellians live. There are six official languages, and (in order of usage) they are: English, Spanish, Catalan, German, French, and Italian. The rest of the nation is mostly at sea level, with some of the most gorgeous beaches in the multiverse.

A salad bowl of cultures, Yttribian society is highly welcoming and open to all. Assuming you follow the number one rule in Yttribia, don't be a prick, you're most likely to survive in the country.

The largest five cities in Yttribia are (descending down) Fontvieille, Telino, Gremalsco, Zevella, and Stemanisis.

Home Stadium
Well, we're kind of obligated to list the home venues, but this is if we're in WCQs. Turns out every home game is one for us, woo!

Die Einundsechzigste, Dahlen, Obersinn | cap. 61,000
Image

Remember that promise the Yttribian Local Organizing Committee made back in the 61st Cup of Harmony, where they said they would donate the upper bowl of this stadium to the poor people of La Halda? cue internal laughter from the FF Nope, they've expanded this venue to a staggering 61,000; the expansion allows for the Football Federation's guidelines of hosting the National Team to fit in perfectly with the venue. Right on the northern coast of Yttribia, the venue used to resemble a boat, a former homage to the largest industry in the region. Now the architects redesigned the stadium, and plan on using the dismantled exterior for something. The stadium is located right in the heart of the city, an easy walk from just about anywhere.

[i]Casa Naranja, Stemanisis, Yttribia | cap. 64,236
Image

The site of the 29th Cup Winners' Cup final, the Orange House has a ton to offer to its fans. "Hell on Earth," "Satan's Worst Nightmare," and "The House that Tanas Built" (coincidentially, Tanas is an anagram of Satan) are all nicknames given by the supporters of Stemanisis SSC, and basically every fan of Yttribian football. Sure, the fans of the Orange Machine are nice when it comes to every day life, you just better watch your behind when ninety minutes of hell played in here. However, rivalries shall be put aside when the Ravens splash la Casa Naranja with purple gear. Notorious, yet welcoming to say the least.

Formation:
3-5-1-1

A bit of a change in the formation, as Cisternino will be utilised in the starting eleven.

Style Mod:
+3

Roster:
Goalkeepers
#1 - Michi Totso - 25 - GK - Fontvielle Impact (VLD)
#20 - Gaspard Irvin - 29 - GK - Aturra SC (6th)
#23 - Emmerson Bengochea - 24 - GK - AC Zevella (8th)

Tradition dictates that someone other than #1 should play goalkeeper for the CE. Knowing Bengochea is bound to fuck up, Irvin is the starting goalie for the CE. Don't screw up, Gaspard.

Defenders
#11 - Ulysses Bonaventura - 19 - CB - Revolutionaries (EUR)
#14 - Octavio Morse - 25 - CB - Canterlot Royals (EQS)
#15 - Edgar Ambroise - 20 - CB - Free Agent
#17 - Marco Kemény - 29 - CB - La Halda 1845 (4th)
#21 - Elias Melendez - 26 - CB - North Hall (BRE)
#22 - Torsten Larson - 27 - CB - Mallox (COS)

The hype is real for the young nineteen year old Ulysses Bonavenutra. He's already won the youth league with Eura and captained a successful DBC squad. So Cardona thought "why not?" As a result, Bonaventura is now on the team; in addition to a more unknown Edgar Ambroise, who was barely mentioned during the selection process by pundits galore. Many people are confused with the call-up of Ambroise, but Cardona sees something magical in the young kid.

Midfielders
#2 - Niek Krooijmans - 27 - CM - Urbanista (APX)
#3 - Magnus Lorentz - 28 - DM - Stalliongrad HC (EQS)
#4 - Dado Hale - 26 - RM - Telino (1st)
#5 - Franck Langlois - 26 - CM - Gremalsco FC
#8 - Harrison Yildirim - 19 - DM - Whitetail Foresters (EQS)
#9 - Crofton Abbatantuono - 31 - LM - Jan Mayen Islanders (PIS)
#13 - Michel di Mercurio - 30 - DM - Issington FC (APX) (C)
#16 - Tom Prescott - 27 - CM - Aturra SC (1st)
#18 - Josué Triggs - 28 - LM/RM - Gremalsco FC (9th)

At this point, you can call the Yttribian National Team the "United League All-Star Team," with the amount of players there, but hey! They're doing pretty well for themselves, so they got that going for them.

Attackers
#6 - Raúl Monti - 27 - FC - Parrhesia United (NPH)
#7 - Josef Cisternino - 21 - CAM - Ponyville United (EQS)
#10 - Daniel Celestino - 25 - FC - Sanctuary FC (NOV)
#12 - Moisés Fairclough - 30 - FC - Hellenic Rouge (PAS)
#19 - Bruno Arce - 23 - FC - Telino (1st)

Josef Cisternino is by far one of the biggest talent names out there, having vice-captained the DBC squad that competed a bit ago. Now he's been strapped with a rocket to the top of the chain, already garnering a spot on the starting eleven. His presence modifies the formation, giving him a lot more room to play who he is.

Visual Formation:
Arce
Cisternino
Abbatantuono - Langlois - di Mercurio (C) - Prescott - Hale
Larson - Kemény - Melendez

Announcing my Candidacy for President... of the World Cup Committee

My fellow sportsmen and sportswomen of the multiverse: For far too long, the World Cup Committee has suffered from apathetic and indecisive leadership. At one time, the World Cup Committee was run by great men like Simieone De Brandini (OOC: Misspelling intentional). In those days, the World Cup Committee offices acted quickly and decisively to ensure that the World Cup ran smoothly and to protect the integrity of their great tournament. You've all heard the tales about how the World Cup Committee handled Spaamgate in a fair, honest and forthright manner. In the past, the World Cup Committee would not have allowed corrupt governments, such as the fraudulent, corrupt and quite frankly morally repugnant regime that claims to rule the Federation of Free Republics to make a mockery of sport and steal private property from its rightful owners.

Unfortunately, the World Cup Committee of today lacks leadership. While I'm sure that the faceless Polarian and Apoxoid that currently serve as President and Vice President are decent men, the fact remains that they have failed to lead. Therefore I, Nova Janet Hellstrom, hereby announce my candidacy for the Presidency of the World Cup Committee.

If I am elected, I promise to root out corruption in the WCC and fight to restore the good name of the World Cup. I promise to start by dealing harshly with those who wish to twist sport to serve a political end. Theft of private property is a crime in every decent country and the World Cup Committee should not condone such theft, especially when it is committed by a tyrant and usurper who came to power via an election that was transparently rigged and burned down his own legislature's buildings so that he'd have an excuse to declare himself a dictator! If I am elected President of the WCC, I will immediately utilize the power vested in me by the World Cup Committee to return the Holy Republican National Soccer Team, LLC to its rightful owner: Rule Theriault. Mr. Theriault is a man whom we can all be proud of and he has always conducted himself with integrity, respect for others and an absolute commitment to fair play, even when it is to the detriment of his own team. If only the World Cup had more men like Mr. Theriault...

In addition, I promise to utilize the power of my office to repeal every single word of the President's Decree regarding limits on the signup period. Let's face it: Too few nations have been entering the World Cup of late and this policy is not the solution to the problem. In fact, it is the problem. If I am elected President, I will restore the policies regarding the signup period that were in place prior to World Cup 66. Finally, I will institute new guidelines to ensure that every referee at every World Cup match is above average. Under my No Referee Left Behind policy, the World Cup Committee will watch the film of every WCC-sanctioned match and evaluate the performance of every referee. After each World Cup cycle, I will personally send a pink slip to every referee who finishes in the bottom 50% in terms of performance and replace them with more competent referees because every WCC-sanctioned match should be officiated by a great referee. I hope you will consider me when it comes time to vote for a new WCC President.

I'm Nova Hellstrom, candidate for WCC President, and I approved this message.
