Toucans Win Low Scoring Affiar

Postby The Fair Republic » Wed May 20, 2015 7:21 pm

The Fair Republic Toucans won 13-0 versus Karabakh to improve to 2-1 in World Bowl XXVI. It was a day where the offense couldn't get anything easily. the Toucans front 7 harassed the Karabakh QB all day. They forced 5 sacks, 2 fumbles (1 recovered) and 1 interception. Despite all the turnovers, the Toucans couldn't get any momentum going. Buck Williams had some accuracy problems early on that stopped some promising Toucans drives. It wasn't awful, but his passes either sailed too high or low for the receivers to catch it. He calmed down later in the second quarter throwing a touchdown pass to Brain Udderson right before halftime to break the scoreless tie. Brandon Yarlson kicked two field goals in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to the final result of 13-0. Said Coach Buck Natters after the game, "Buck didn't pay the best today. Give him credit though, he took his lumps and was much more accurate in the second half. If he plays like that more consistently, I think we can go far."

Scoring Summary:
2nd Quarter:
(TFR): 16 yard touchdown pass to Brain Udderson from Buck Williams. 7-0 TFR (00:09)
3rd Quarter:
(TFR): 47 yard field goal by Brandon Yarlson. 10-0 TFR (13:52)
(TFR): 33 yard field goal by Brandon Yarlson. 13-0 TFR (6:05)

ABANHFLEFT HANGS ON TO FIRST; SEIZES VICTORY AGAINST VERMARK

By Hernan "Hummus" Pereira

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - It can be said that it was a sack that finally ended this game in favor of Abanhfleft.

Abanhfleft and Vermark were first and second in the group respectively, but it was Vermark who had more to lose in this game than Abanhfleft, as Vermark could potentially slide to third in the event that both Abanhfleft and Gregoryisgodistan won their games.

Once again, the Armored Revolutionaries came out of the gates hot, straight and normal courtesy of quarterback Phil Masterson, who once again scored a 9-yard rushing touchdown to open up the scoring, and he also managed to get Uranus Sanidor's name on the scoresheet. Vermark was no pushover however as Herman Amundsen gave the pigskin to Wilhelm Ostergaard for a 13-yard touchdown.

When the second quarter came however, it was Abanhfleft which was uncharacteristically quiet and Vermark who were getting the scoring opportunities. Peter Pedersen received a handoff from his quarterback and ran 29 yards to get a massive touchdown for his country.

The third quarter saw things return almost to normal with both teams landing almost back-to-back touchdowns. Vermark was the first to score, with Amundsen and Pedersen working together for a 5-yard touchdown. Meanwhile, on the Fleftic end, it was Masterson and Helter who combined for a 6-yard TD in almost the same play that Vermark used to score.

It was the fourth quarter that finally separated the two teams. Vermark's Eric Kristensen scored a field goal from 39 yards, but it turned out that this was all that the Varish could do in the quarter. Meanwhile, Masterson passed to Sanidor once again, who rushed for 21 yards and the touchdown. The Varish did manage to get the ball after an interception, but they could only get as far as 25 yards from their end zone. Two sacks moved them to within just inches from their end zone, and it was yet another sack that secured victory for Abanhfleft, as the poor quarterback who also happened to be the ball carrier in the play happened to be in his endzone when he was sacked by Giancarlo Basilone.

TIGHT WIN AGAINST PASNEILA PROPELS ABANHFLEFT TO TOP OF GROUP IN WORLD BOWL
By Hernan "Hummus" Pereira

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - Abanhfleft's Armored Revolutionaries grinded out a gritty 7-0 victory against a Pasneila side that simply refused to lie down and be beaten up.

The first quarter proved a quiet quarter, as Abanhfleft's numerous attempts to get the pigskin to the end zone was met by stiff resistance from the Pasneilan defense. Phil Masterson, while he was class as usual, failed to get a teammate over the endzone, despite getting close to the endzone at least five times.

The second quarter proved to be the breakthough moment for the Armored Revolutionaries. Pasneila miscued on a punt which resulted in Abanhfleft getting the ball at the opponent's 4-yard line. Despite that it took the Armored Revolutionaries 3 downs and just a yard gained before Masterson managed to find Tim Helter in open space to land the touchdown. Carl Calebson made the extra point to put Abanhfleft 7-0 up over the newcomers.

Pasneila had chances to get on the scoreboard in the first half, but Pasneila's kicker Jimmy Lester failed to find the space between the uprights. Attempts from 46 and 48 yards were met by some strong winds, which caused the aforementioned deflections away from the uprights.

Abanhfleft got the ball to start off the second half and moved down the field in just ten players. However their drive stalled at Pasneila's 20, and a field goal attempt from Calebson also met the same wind resistance that stymied Lester earlier.

Pasneila had a chance to score in the last three minutes of the game, but Filius Nabera intercepted the pass and ended all hope for a Pasneila comeback.

ABANHFLEFT TRIUMPHS OVER GREGORYISGODISTAN 18-6!
By Hernan "Hummus" Pereira

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - Gregoryisgodistan got off to an early lead in the first half of the game against Abanhfleft, but the Armored Revolutionaries soon got back on level ground and even managed to dominate the Grid Slaves in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter.

Gregoryisgodistani kicker Mathematics Teacher 2737ASH drew first blood by managing to score a field goal from 39 yards just six minutes into the first quarter. The Armored Revolutionaries kept the Grid Slaves well beyond even field goal range after that field goal.

Mathematics Teacher 2737ASH struck once again, this time from 50 yards, to start off the second quarter. But the Armored Revolutionaries got to attacking almost immediately after, and Phil Masterson threw to Gupta C. Vikrant for a 7-yard touchdown at the half-point of the quarter. Then the Armored Revolutionaries decided to risk a two-point conversion. This time it was Masterson who blasted through the Gregoryisgodistani defensive line for a 3-yard touchdown and the two points in the bag.

In the third quarter, Gregoryisgodistan was still going strong, and they made it as far as Abanhfleft's 30 before they were finally stymied by the Fleftic defense. An interception by Basilio Horton got Abanhfleft to Gregoryisgodistan's 30, and after getting stuck there Carl Calebson kicked for a field goal that made it through the uprights. This marked the moment when the momentum shifted in favor of Abanhfleft.

The fourth quarter was all an Abanhfleft show, with the Armored Revolutionaries dictating the whole tempo of the game at that point. On 2nd and 5 in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter, Masterson threw the pigskin to Gregory Zarko, who ran up the remaining length of the field and landed the touchdown, making a few Grid Slaves trip up amongst themselves in the process. Calebson's successful point conversion served to secure Abanhfleft's victory over Gregoryisgodistan, and after that it was time for Phil Masterson to take a well-deserved knee.

ABANHFLEFT DECIMATES VANGAZILAND 56-7 TO START OFF WORLD BOWL CAMPAIGN!
By Hernan "Hummus" Pereira

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - Abanhfleft started off its World Bowl campaign on a high note. An especially high note, considering that the Armored Revolutionaries scored an astonishing 56 points against Vangaziland. who could manage only a comparably weak seven points.

Once the game started, it was immediately obvious that Abanhfleft would be dominating this contest. The Armored Revolutionaries succeeded in moving the chains quite rapidly, and their efforts were soon rewarded when Phil Masterson noticed a gap in the defense and managed to get through for a 20-yard touchdown. Carl Calebson made the first of what would turn out to be eight conversions for him in this game. Just two minutes before the end of the first, at 3rd and goal, Masterson threw the pigskin to Dimitri Faure for a 9-yard touchdown.

The second quarter was more of the same business, with Abanhfleft doing all the attacking and Vangaziland doing all the ultimately futile defending. Masterson found Gregory Zarko loitering just out of notice from the defense, and the fullback managed to score an 11-yard touchdown. Masterson scored a second rushing touchdown on 2nd and goal, when he noticed the Vangaziland defense beginning to fall apart. Vangaziland did manage to penetrate the Armored Revolutionaries courtesy of quarterback Rick Hizzle, who found his wide receiver Matt Starvold who managed to 6-yard touchdown.

Second-string QB Deimos Johnson came on for Masterson in the third half, and he proved just as effective in scoring touchdowns as the player he replaced. He passed to Tim Helter for an eight-yard touchdown, and he himself managed to score a 32-yard TD after shedding off a Vangaziland blitz.

With the score running up to ridiculous standards, it was decided that Johnson would rest for the fourth quarter and give a chance to third-string QB Radomel Santos. Even that didn't stop Abanhfleft from running up the score, even if a bit unintentionally. Santos noticed yet another gap in the Vangaziland defense and secured a 5-yard TD in his name, and he managed to get Faure a second touchdown, this one a 15-yard TD. After that it was decided that it was probably time for a kneel play, and everyone on the field was happy to oblige the runaway winners.

San Llera Fall to Equestrian States, Drop to 2-2
San Llera's promising debut World Bowl campaign took a hit today when they failed to upset defending champions Equestrian States. Equestrian States easily outclassed San Llera on both sides of the ball, winning by 18 points, 24-6. The loss was not the fault of anybody on San Llera - Equestrian States were simply better - but Xavier Pan had to admit that his offense was abysmal. In fact, he did admit it:
Our offense was abysmal. Agusti couldn't complete a pass for his life; the few good throws were dropped by the receivers; Normando never got going; even the punter sucked. Even the meager 6 points we scored were because of fantastic field position from the defense.

Indeed, San Llera's 6 points came after a defensive interception that left them with only a mere 10 yards to go to score a touchdown. They did score a touchdown, but Martini Prado missed the extra point. Meanwhile, Equestrian States had 3 long touchdown drives to put this game out of reach. But Xavier Pan isn't getting too worried.
Whatever. We just have to move on to the next game.

That next game will be against New North Aqmuland.

Kings Flatten Coreyo 48-0

Kaboomlandia showed up in their fourth game of the World Bowl in a big way, shutting out Coreyo 48-0. Head coach Frederic Allemande took a risk, choosing third-stringer Russell Jones, and he did not disappoint. The Kings were all over Coreyo on defense. In particular, the combination of cornerback Richard Cody ad strong safety Cameron Johnson combined for 19 tackles, two forced fumbles, and an interception by Cody. The offense was potent in this game, as Jones went 23/28 with five touchdowns. Running back Andrew Michaels ran 133 yards and had a touchdown. After the first half, the score was 28-0 Kings. Early in the second half, kicker Caleb McCallum scored a personal-best 51-yard field goal. After the score got to 45-0, Jones was taken out and Tyler Martin played the last half of the fourth quarter, which ended in another McCallum field goal.

NEXT UP: Electrum. With the Kings having the tiebreaker on the hosts, and being only a point behind Greater Vakolicci Haven, this is a must-win game. How will the raucous crowd affect the Kaboomlandians?

Regulars overcome injury to escape with win over Le Grove

The injury bug hit the Regulars once again, this time on their first offensive play of the game, to a crucial player. Graagur Baaltrsunn limped off the field after a low tackle, and was looked at by the trainers before subsequently being pulled from the game. To the considerable relief of Regulars fans, it turned out that his removal from the game had been a precautionary measure rather than one of absolute necessity, and Baaltrsunn will be able to play in the final game of the first half of qualifiers against Nephara.

In the short-term, though, that meant that most of the team's offensive burden wound up being carried by Ella Kaarbrynn, Brandt Hendriks, and, getting her first real repetitions at halfback of the campaign, Anna Eriklunn. Izaak Kleiner ended up playing another unspectacular, but efficient game, and the defense stepped up to win the game for the team on a day when the offense struggled.

The game opened with Le Grove getting the opening kickoff, which they were only able to return to their own 19. The Regulars defense was able to swarm them, actually forcing Le Grove's offense back three yards before they had to punt. Jana Graelunn got the ball back to the Allamunnic 42, and the offense took the field.

On their first play from scrimmage, Graagur Baaltrsunn went down, and left the game as a precautionary measure. Some tough play by Le Grove's defense ensured that the Regulars, despite getting to the redzone, came up short and had to settle for Justyn Kynyks' 36-yard field goal. Nonetheless, Ella Kaarbrynn showed some flashes on the drive that were encouraging.

The rest of the first half passed without any scores, although the Regulars proved much more effective at moving the ball than their opponents. The thing Le Grove did have going for them was good field position from solid punt returns, and an effective enough punter and coverage team that they were able to keep the Regulars far enough back that scoring again did not become possible again in the half. In the Regulars' case, it was simply the fact that their rushing attack could not quite get the yardage needed consistently enough, combined with a conservative game plan that called for protecting field position, not attempting fourth-down conversions unless absolutely necessary, and so on.

At one point, it appeared that Le Grove's offense might get within striking range to answer Kynyks' field goal, but thankfully an interception by Rikard Junnsunn put an end to that drive at the Allamunnic 27. The Regulars entered the locker room at halftime thoroughly frustrated at their inability to build a lead on what was perceived as an inferior team.

The Regulars got the ball to start the second half, with Eriklunn returning the ball to the Allamunnic 31. Two plays later, on first-and-ten from their own 43, Ella Kaarbrynn took the hand-off and followed Torren Tormundsunn through an open right-side A-gap. Tormundsunn annihilated a Le Grove linebacker, giving Kaarbrynn all the room she needed. She turned on her jets, streaking up through the middle, slipping a sloppy tackle and breaking into the secondary, where she was able to outrun one safety and slip the other, all alone with nobody left to beat.

Kaarbrynn is not the absolute fastest running back (that would be Eriklunn), but she is more than fast enough, and nobody could catch her as she bolted down the field to finish her 57-yard run in the opponent's endzone. After Kynyks' PAT, the Regulars led Le Grove 10-0. Their opponents nearly answered on their next drive, pushing down to the Allamunnic 34 before Adryk Jaarlsunn and Henrik Baaldr combined on a sack, with Jaarlsunn stripping the ball and Alf Vaalhulmsunn diving on it, to end the drive.

Spelling Kaarbrynn, Brandt Hendriks had his most effective stretch of running to date, carrying the load on that drive to move the ball down the field into Kynyks' field-goal range. Although the drive ended up stalling on a holding penalty deep in Le Grove territory, the Regulars were still able to get Kynyks' 35-yarder out of it, widening their lead to 13-0 late in the third quarter.

From there, the Regulars were able to kill Le Grove's drives early and easily, while the offense, while never reaching scoring distance again, were able to move the ball and run the clock effectively enough that the game was effectively over midway through the fourth quarter. The game ended with Izaak Kleiner taking a knee inside the two-minute mark.

The running game was not as consistently reliable as it was with Baaltrsunn leading the charge, but it got the job done. Kaarbrynn finished with 16 rushes for 105 yards (although 57 of those came on one run) and a touchdown, while Brandt Hendriks had more restrained numbers with 16 rushes for 53 yards, although his value in powering through and running down the clock cannot be overstated. Anna Eriklunn added 8 rushes for 25 yards. Izaak Kleiner was not a liability, was reasonably efficient, but did not do anything spectacular, either, dropping back 13 times, getting sacked twice, and going 6/11 on the remainder, for 82 yards, along with his first interception of the year.

Ardryk Jaarlsunn and Alf Vaalhulmsunn both added to their sack totals, meaning Vaalhulmsunn now has 6 sacks over four games, while Jaarlsunn, a relative latecomer to the race, has 4 in as many games. The duo lead the team in sacks, although Henrik Baaldr has three, Maarkus Staalhelm has 2, while Kyl Waalturs, Junn Haaldur, Waldr Baersvylk, Rikard Theodur, Erik Dahlhorst, and Baeryk Skarrsunn all have one each for a total of 21. The defense has also totaled two safeties, four forced-and-recovered fumbles, and three interceptions over those four games.

Still, the difficulty of this game was cause for concern to some. At minimum, despite the win, head coach Baeryk Vaalburger was not exactly ecstatic.

"It's a good win. We got a tough scrap from an underrated team, it was one we weren't expecting. We got our reward for looking past an opponent, which was a game that was harder than it needed to be. It was a nice little wake-up call to remind us that you cannot look past any team at this level of competition, because any one of them is capable of bringing any other team down on a given day," he said.

"I would have liked to see some better execution out of this team, but, you know what? We still won by two scores. We're not going to nitpick this too much. We'll review the tape like we always do, see what we can do better, and move our focus on to Nephara."

So what does this all mean?

The win moves the Regulars to 4-0, currently with the fewest points allowed in group stage play (with 6 through four games; Ko-oren and HopNation are tied for second with 7 in the same span). Moreover, the second matchup against Nassau-Hessen is increasingly taking on greater and greater importance, as that nation has managed to hold onto second place in Group F with a now-3-1 record. Thereisnogodistan dropped their second-straight game to fall down into fourth place.

Newcomers Mavenheim are an intriguing case; the Regulars defeated them 29-3 on the first matchday, but they have gone 2-1 since then, downing Le Grove and Nephara. On the whole, the defensively-minded side has shown some notable promise as a first-time nation. Of course, some observers in the Allamunnic media (and team, for that matter) do not seem to understand why Mavenheim has been so hard on its team, which is, by all accounts, having about as successful a first campaign as one can expect.

"It is worth remembering," former Allamunnic national-team head coach turned analyst Vaalhulm Studdenburger remarked "that we finished with sub-.500 records in our first two World Bowl campaigns. It took a decade of building, but the championships came, eventually, under Ryan Smart. That's something that a lot of these newcomers to the World Bowl don't understand; with rare exceptions, almost no team is immediately successful in their first tournament or two. The important part is to identify the right players and build your program; the wins will come as you build your team up."

Of course, some might note that the Allamunnic system of national team-building is somewhat unorthodox, given the fact that, for much of the last twenty years, Allamunnic players have not generally been allowed to play on domestic league teams during their time as Volunteers or Regulars. The early years of late head coach Stevan Vaalburger's building program was focused on finding second-chancers, washed-up players, and players who had gone undrafted, people with things to prove.

It is quite possible that, had Allamunnic Sporting Commissioner Hadley Thornburger stuck with the original plan of building an AGL All-Star team as the nation's national team, they would never have experienced the success that the Regulars have had.

"Building a program is not a quick or easy process," Studdenburger said during a segment, "it starts with going out, playing your best even when you're overmatched, getting players noticed and building that core of experienced guys, like what's happening with Schottia, and two of their young players, Rupert Kenny and Nathan Johnson. Those two guys, hopefully among others, are going to build that core of experience, bring it back to their side, and increase their overall level of play. So it's important that these newcomer nations not get discouraged and give up, just because they are not successful right away.

Timbermunich Tidbits
World Bowl XXVI

Time
A curious thing is time and depending on your perspective it either flies by or seemingly lasts for an eternity. In Timbermunich this couldn’t ring more true. For the mortal or normal everyday villagers time seemingly flies by on a daily basis. Perhaps this is because they age or perhaps it is because they feel as though they don’t have enough of it during their waking hours to get the things done they need or want to get done. On the other hand for the Greats time appears to be never ending. They pass each day, month, and even year without aging. They lose family members, friends, and companions before ever getting a chance to understand what path is ahead of them. They not only outlive everyone else they also leave at an early age to live within the Heart of the Grove, to set into their lives as greats well before they are truly considered an adult. Many people consider the life as a Great to be wonderful and is indeed something that is cherished, but for a Great after time it is almost a curse. To lose everything dear to you when you are merely a youngster to see so many people around you disappear as you never seem to age could be tiresome. However, never will you see a Great complain of such things or worry about such things. They are indeed very grateful to have been found to contain the Greatness. Those mortals around them cherish this as well and almost worship the Greats, for the Greats do wonderful things with the time they have been granted. They use this time to watch over Timbermunich, to keep it and its people safe. Sure they lose a great deal along the way but it is a Great thing to be given such a great honor and to be celebrated by the people of Timbermunich for their servitude to them, for them, and the land. There has only been one great tragedy on the Greats watch and if you ask anyone living within Timbermunich today, it will never happen again. So TIME, truly is GREAT in the land of Timbermunich.

FRP Sports Network: Defensive TDs Lift Cougars Over Vangaziland

MD4 - Pasneila's defense not only limited Vangaziland's high-powered offense to just 7 points, but also provided all of Pasneila's scoring in a heart-stopping 13-7 win over Vangaziland on Wednesday afternoon at jam-packed Hamilton Stadium. Vangaziland threatened to stretch a 0-7 lead to a two-score advantage on the final play of the third quarter, but Pasneila's Bradley McClain scooped up an errant snap on a Vangaziland field-goal attempt. He would return the fumble 73 yards for a touchdown and give Pasneila an improbable 7-7 tie going into the final quarter. Pasneila was flagged for excessive celebration following McClain's score. Just 1:22 later, linebacker Marcus Keith intercepted a Vangaziland pass and rumbled 46 yards for what proved to be the winning points. The extra point was unfortunately blocked. On their next possession, Pasneila's offense was able to pick up four crucial first downs over its final two possessions and ran nearly seven-and-a-half minutes off the clock. The Cougars punted the ball back to Vangaziland with 42 seconds still remaining in the ballgame. On the first play of the Vangaziland ensuing drive, cornerback Ricky Howe intercepted a wobby pass at the 40 yard line to seal the thrilling victory.

In all, Pasniela's defense limited Vangaziland to 302 yards, nearly 50 below its average coming in, including just 32 yards on the ground. That is almost 100 fewer than it averaged over its first three games. Using a multitude of blitzes, the Cougars punished the opposing quarterback throughout the afternoon. He was sacked four times and was hurried on seven more occasions. Pasneila also broke up 10 passes, as the Vangaziland quarterback only completed just 22 of his 42 throwing attempts. Keith led the stellar defensive performance with 11 tackles, two sacks, two-and-a-half tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and a quarterback hurry to go along with his first interception for a touchdown in his career. Fellow linebacker Blake Horn also tallied 11 tackles and cornerback Edgar Lamb had three pass break-ups to go along with a sack, forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. Offensively, the Cougars squandered a number of opportunities to put points on the board throughout the afternoon. Pasneila had at least one first down on eight of its 11 possessions (not counting when it took a knee on the final play of the game) and was in Vangaziland's territory six times. However, three turnovers and a missed field goal stymied the Cougars offensive attack. Despite throwing two interceptions, Roberts totaled 195 yards of offense (143 passing, 52 rushing) to lead Pasneila offensively. Chad Bridges led all rushers with 63 yards and Louis Parks caught five passes for 65 yards. Things don’t get any easier for the Cougars as they host (2-2) No. 42 Vermark this Thurday for another much-anticipated Group H clash. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be televised across the Pasneila on the FRP Sports Network.

Centrals Arena, Centralis
It was late at night, when Team Panem finallly finished the game. They had the last play and a meager audience to play in front off as their worst fear came true, they had been turned into a football joke. And even though they pounded Atanatos into a pulp, they were not in the lightest of moods, still brooding over their drubbing the other day. Sitting down in their locker room, they cleaned up in almost silence when the coach entered the room. "Hey guys, why the long faces, you did win a good game today?"

"Yes, we did drub them well, but Atanatos is a joke team, they haven't beaten anyone. Tomorrow, we face the Southern Bears where...." Cassius started.

"Let me stop you there. We may not be perfect, but we are smart and we can learn from our mistakes. For a first team, we haven't done too bad. We have actually held our ground and our great win tonight pushed us back to fourth place in our bracket. All we have to do is is beat Southern Bears tomorrow or at least have a close game to start climbing our group again. Guys, it has never been done, for an underdog like us to do so well, but we can do it. Don't let discouragement get to you, the Quebecois are good players and so is Ko-oren. However, the Southern Bears have not always done so well, and maybe we can change the cards stacked against us."

"That's true sir, they were beat in a close game against Ko-oren and beat Atanatos by not as large of a margin as we did. We may be able to take them on and win."

"Yes, they are great at touchdowns with some good field goal kickers. Cassius, we need to strengthen our defenses out there, we'll try to wear out them and in the last half, start scoring our points to blow them out of the water. This just might work, boys, we can do this, I know we can."

Dragonflies' contracts in jeopardy

The Thaulandian action towards the Ko-orenite national gridiron association has had consequences bigger than anyone imagined. A double whammy hit the national team in this way: half of the domestic professional teams move to Thaulandi, meaning that after the World Bowl, most of Ko-oren's greats are to show up in cold Thaulandi instead of cool and nice Ko-oren. Secondly, even though two teams are added to the league overall, many Thaulandian players will appear on teams across the newly founded Union. And this is bad news for some Ko-orenite players who will inevitably lose their job.

All this was continents away as Ko-oren beat the Minecraft Miners 27-0 in the World Bowl. They played as if the problems in the domestic league were just that: small problems in just one of the many leagues in the multiverse, and the Dragonflies looked unaffected. They were also unaffected by the offence of the Miners, who are now in last place in Group C with zero wins. Ko-oren is now topping the group, ahead of Quebec and the Southern Democratic States.

Ko-oren's running game was the dealbreaker. The Miners had some answer to Germain's passing game: De Bruijn managed 70 yards, not bad for an average wide receiver game, but his colleagues couldn't get past 40 yards. Legrand recorded 37, Tadahiro got 31 and Rhydwyn has 23. However, Richter rushed for 89, Willems carried 60 and Mercier, the third running back (!) added 39 to the yardage. The defence was instrumental in the win, with four interceptions and two forced fumbles. In fact, the player with the most yards in this game was Jim Washington, MLB, with 92 yards (two returned interceptions: one for 14 yards, one for 78). Touchdowns today were for Sébastien Germain (QB), Simon Richter (RB) and Rhydian Powel (OLB). Germain was handed the ball under centre on the Miners' 3 yard line, and saw no option other than run it in himself. Richter was passed the ball in a screen pass and the four remaining defenders in front of him were taken care of. Powel scored the other Ko-orenite touchdown in the third quarter for a 24-0 score, from a fumble returned from the Miners' own 25. The kicking game was flawless, with Helene Guillon lining up for three conversions and two field goals. She made no mistake and added six plus three points for a total of 27... to nil.

More news on the Ko-orenite league will come out. As far as we know, all of the players on the national team roster will be contracted by one of the 32 teams. We can only hope news will remain scarce on this topic. We don't want anything to distract the Dragonflies, because, as we always say, this could be our year.

Kings Beat Host Electrum, In Playoff Spot

Kaboomlandia's national gridiron football team beat Electrum 32-10 early Friday, moving the Kings into a playoff spot. Kicker Caleb McCallum had a record six field goals for the Kings to pace the team. In the first quarter, Kaboomlandia got the ball first and marched steadily down the field, but were stopped by the ironclad defense of Electrum and had to go for a 23-yard field goal, which dropped in. After the kick was returned to the 29-yard line, Electrumite QB Bill Kransky went to work. On one play, Kings corner Jeremy Rutherford slipped in the rainy conditions, allowing Kransky to hit Hal Bayley for an untouched 51-yard pass into the end zone. Down 7-3 after the first quarter, the Kings went back to work, but were forced again to make another field goal by the Electrumite defense. The Kings defense, now settled down, held against Electrum, and later managed to score a touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Martin, who had gotten his first start since Matchday 1, found tight end Enoch Bailey wide open behind the Electrum defense for the Kings' first touchdown of the day. The score was 13-7 after the first half.

In the third quarter, Electrum running back Richmond Thorne appeared to punch the ball into the Kings end zone. Originally ruled a touchdown, the play was then called back after review. On fourth down, Electrum kicker Nicholas Glove scored an easy 7-yard field goal to make the score 13-10. While Electrum's defense shut down the deep balls, Caleb McCallum went to work, scoring two more field goals before the quarter was over, to make the score 19-10 after three quarters. After the Kings forced Electrum to punt again, Manny Hayes caught the punt and ran it 43 yards back, leading to a quick touchdown from running back Andrew Michaels. The Kings held, and McCallum scored another two field goals to make the final score 32-10. McCallum scored field goals from 23, 17, 31, 36, 44, and 27 yards, in chronological order. The Kings are now tied for second in the group with Greater Vakolicci Haven, who were slaughtered 71-3 by Timbermunich, the most lopsided match of the tournament.

NEXT UP: Timbermunich demolished Vakolicci 71-3. Undefeated at 5-0, they are the Kings' next opponent.

AROUND THE GROUP:
Timbermunich 71-3 Greater Vakolicci Haven
United States of Devonta 20-3 Coreyo

Prince Andreas announces formation of Human Rights Alliance

(SP) Today, Prince Andreas announced the formation of the Human Rights Alliance, a new organization that will advocate for human rights throughout the multiverse. The announcement was made at Royal Square Garden before media representatives from numerous nations. "Today, I am privileged to announce the formation of the Human Rights Alliance, a new organization that will defend the rights of all of humanity to the dignity that is owed them on account of their creation in the image of God. My faith has taught me that we are all children of the same God and that we are our brother's keeper. Those values will drive the Human Rights Alliance as we fight human rights violations throughout the multiverse. Far too many nations deprive their citizens of the freedom to worship God by refusing to permit His True Church to operate in their nations. This has to stop. Far too many nations permit heinous moral evils and many of those nations turn around and try to lecture the nations of the Godly World about human rights! That is an absurdity that needs to stop immediately. At the Human Rights Alliance, we condemn the murder of people who say the word 'co-co-nut' in the strongest possible terms and we also condemn nations that permit the gross violation of the dignity of woman that is prostitution. We condemn nations that permit women to be objectified for the lust of the wicked and we call upon the nations of the multiverse to protect the legitimate rights of women like we have done here in Saintland for over a millennium. Now, there will be an organization that will fight against actual human rights violations, rather than just existing to defame those nations that actually protect human rights." - Prince Andreas

The announcement of the formation of the Human Rights Alliance was unexpected, but is a most welcome development. Far too many nations these days seem to think that they can persecute Christians and oppress women with impunity while pretending to stand for freedom of religion and women's rights. The preposterous claim that women are oppressed in the Kingdom of Saintland, which is being spread by Feministvs Sanctvsterra and others of their ilk, is a reprehensible falsehood that puts the well-being of innumerable women at stake. It can hardly be argued that a nation that permits women to be enslaved as prostitutes or a nation that encourages a "hook up" culture where men and women engage in the reproductive act on a casual basis is a nation that protects the rights and dignity of women nor can it be seriously argued that a nation that forces women into the workforce, just so huge multinational mega-corporations can make even more money, is a nation that values women for their innate worth as human beings.

However, the individuals harmed most by the violations of human rights are not women, but rather children. Every child has the right to a mother and a father, yet many nations choose to deny their children even this most basic of rights by permitting men and women to irresponsibly abandon their children rather than take responsibility and raise their offspring together through the bonds of Holy Matrimony, the institution ordained by God for the raising of children. Many of the same nations also do little or even nothing to protect their children from the scourges of mind-altering drugs, violent entertainment and pornography then they wonder why some of these same children decide to rape and murder their classmates. Equally grievous is the failure to provide children with the guidance and direction that they need to make the correct choices in life. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and that is equally true when it comes to guiding the young toward the right path.

Then, there are the nations that brutally oppress their own people. For example, the nation of Gregoryisgodistan has a list of capital crimes that is nearly as long as the Index Librorum Prohibitorum! Somebody needs to speak up for the people of that land, who are oppressed by a wicked man who pretends to be God. Somebody needs to answer their cries for freedom and salvation. Somebody needs to stand for true human rights for all. Thank God for the Human Rights Alliance. We can only pray that God will make them the most influential human rights organization in the multiverse.

INVESTING
Commodity Trading: Vermark's Preferred Investment?

The Varish consumer is no stranger to investment; as a highly developed economy, finance is often considered the primary component of the Varish economy. While stocks, property, and mutual funds have been popular financial vehicles for years, nothing has endured the kind of boom that commodity investments have. It's a peculiar development, and, unlike many so-called investment 'fads', this may actually become sustainable.

The surge in commodity investment can be traced back to academic rhetoric as well as strong marketing campaigns by Varish banks. As finance professor Jannick Jonsson said earlier this week, "Investing in certain commodities is a fundamentally good idea. Any investment that is dependent on the human population is generally going to increase in value over time. In other words, as long as there are people who need food, the value of, for example, wheat will increase in the long-term. The key is holding these derivatives for long periods of time and generally ignoring day-to-day changes." Jonsson's comments certainly are not the first endorsement of commodity investing; however, Jonsson's words are some of the best praise for commodities up until this point. Moreover, Jonsson's logic resonates with the Varish consumer very well. Simply put, Vares understand why commodities are a good idea, because they themselves fuel commodity prices. A consumer who buys bread on a weekly basis can visualize how the value of a wheat derivative will increase over time.

Perhaps, the deeper cause for all of this is just good marketing on behalf of Varish banks. The Big Two, Mulighed and RVBG, have been very diligent on promoting commodity trading over the duration of the past month. Not only have these banks used the same logic as academia, their own lending practices have actually driven up the prices of commodity derivatives. In the past quarter, these two banks have made thirty percent (30%) of their loans to agricultural enterprises and twenty four percent (24%) to energy enterprises. This statistic has been widely circulated by the banks who have subsequently been investing heavily in wheat, petroleum, and canola derivatives. This strategy has been good economics so far; the energy and agricultural sectors have received substantial support, commodity values have increased, and banks ultimately end up with more money to lend out. It's a self-feeding phenomenon that, at the moment, appears to be perfectly sustainable.

"Thus far, the financial sector's fixation on commodities has benefit every realm of the economy," says Elisa Lundsberg, Minister of Economics, Finance, and the Treasury. "We see that there is a healthy flow of money going from big banks to small enterprises to every-day consumers. While banks should continue to maintain appropriate lending practices, the Treasury sees no reason to correct the bias that's been placed in favor of commodity exchange."

Lundsberg is right. Commodities are good for the economy, since they encourage production as well as investment, but they can be seen as a form of saving as well. They strike the perfect balance between numerous economic interests. Expect commodities to continue to take off as well as become Vermark's preferred form of investment.

Committee Finally Posts Roster

Postby Zillmerilic » Fri May 22, 2015 6:42 pm

Nation: The Protectorate of Zillmerilic

Mascot: Polar Bears

Committee: Merilic Sports Committee

Committee Members: Tim Wazte, Mil K. Clockz, Paya Lot, and Simon Alenz II

Debut: World Bowl XXVI

Style Mod: 0

Record thus far: 1-4-0

Coaches:
Head: Mai Lingz
Assistants: Trai Taoz, Brenz Foulz, and Hanz Zimmerz
Offensive: Milez Prent, Ollie Zander, Honz Tonk, and Lou Gobzist
Defensive: Grant Lontz, Hentlz Findelz, and Henton Dealz
Special: Patterson Ventzi
Medical Staff: Ven and Von Zeal, Prentice Von, and Mel Lenz

The team has a very good balance between offence and defense, but excels with special teams. Coach Ventzi is very particular and built each of his areas to fit his own design.

After some debate and frantic work by the Merilic Sports Committee, the Protectorate Nation of Zillmerilic has finally come out with their first World Bowl Roster. Their lineup goes as such:

Quarterbacks:
Vough Prentz (starter) 22 years old. Graduated from the University of Zillmerilic with a business degree. Started every game in college and was drafted number one in the ZNFA Draft. He stands at 2 meters 5 centimeters, pushing 216 lbs. He is very agile and works with the offensive squad like a well-oiled machine.

Brailen Tronz 34 years old

Henson Nevent 28 years old

Running Backs:

Kris Zentz(starter) 21 years old. Dropped out of North Zillmerilic State University after his junior year to go to the ZNFA. He was drafted second, behind his former
teammate. He is 1.75 meters tall, 220 lbs. His quick feet make up for his slightly less than great ball control. His communication and connection with his new quarterback is phenomonal, and has probably contributed to his growth and progression.

Rusta Gratz 27 years old

Ryanz Klints 27 years old

Lychz Light 22 years old

Hantz Lount 29 years old

Wide Receivers:

Priz D. Hantz (starter) 21 years old. Graduated with the current quarterback from the University of Zillmerilic. He was the leading receiver for the team with almost as many touchdowns as receptions. His vertical jump is nearly half his height, which is 2.25 meters weighing 198 lbs. His connection with his quarterback is as strong now as it ever was in college. He will be a highly targeted receiver.

Rount Boz (starter) 24 years old

Hugo Boz (starter) 24 years old

Wezly Warner 28 years old

Tight Ends:

Bryson Tynez (starter)

Prezto Kryn

Fullbacks:

Sitsiling Pronz

Hilting Zen

Starting Offensive Line:

Zill Wenz

Hempz Tylez

Gravin Trimp

Louiz Tsuro

Hronz Trinel

Starting Defensive Line:

Jolng Teal (Left Defensive End)

Franciz Lount (Right Defensive End)

Hong Zenez (Defensive Tackle)

Poulo Frentz (Defensive Tackle)

Lants Strawn (Right Linebacker)

Heltz Frought (Left Line Backer)

Kwong Zeatz (Middle Linebacker)

Prentz Gwon (Cornerback)

Naoim Glaz (Cornerback)

Yeatz Ghout (Free Safety)

Peaz Ouitz (Strong Safety)

Special Teams:

Kicker:
Brailz Tong 29 years old

Punter:
Flient Kwongz 26 years old

Kick Returners:
Rount Boz (starter) 24 years old
Hugo Boz (starter) 24 years old

Punt Returner:
Rount Boz 24 years old

This year is the first year the team has competed in international play, but coaches and players have high hopes for their first appearance. The team is in excellent condition and works together better than any other team in the nation.

FRP Sports Network: Cougars Whitewash Vermark, 21-0

MD5 - Pasneila put together a second-straight dominating performance and routed visiting Vermark, 21-0, on Thursday at Hamilton Stadium. Thursday's victory came in even more impressive fashion than the Cougars' 13-7 romp at Vangaziland in their last outing. Pasneila outgained Vermark 567 to 62 total yards, including a 469 to a only 8 total yard advantage on the ground. Pasneila also easily outdistanced Vermark in first downs (26 to 6), possession time (38:40 to 21:20) and third/fourth down conversions (11-of-18 for Pasneila, 3-of-13 for Vermark).

The outcome was decided early, as Pasneila scored what proved to be the only points it would need less that four minutes into the game. Linebacker Alexander Dickson intercepted a tipped Vermark pass on the fifth play of the game. Only five plays later, Chad Bridges capped a 33-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run that made it 7-0. The Cougars stretched the lead to 14-0 on an 11-yard touchdown run by quarterback Everette Roberts late in the first quarter. Pasneila maintained the 14-point lead late into the first half and appeared to be content with the opportunity to take a 17-0 advantage into halftime when Jimmy Lester lined up for a 30-yard field goal with three seconds to go in the half. However, after Vermark took three-consecutive timeouts in an apparent attempt to ice Lester, the Cougars responded with a perfectly executed fake and Daniel Knox, the holder on the would-be field-goal attempt, rushed straight up the middle for a 13-yard touchdown run that stretched the Cougars’ lead to 21-0 at the break.

After the half, the only question that remained was whether the Cougars would maintain the shutout. Vermark's only true threat to put points on the board came early in the fourth quarter when a 35-yard return on Pasneila's lone punt of the game and a 15-yard penalty for an illegal tackle at the end of the play gave Vermark the ball inside Pasneila's 20 yard line. However, six plays later, Pasneila's Leonard Cannon recovered a fumble on a botched handoff exchange and the Cougars went on to finish off their second shutout in group play. Pasneila's defensive effort played a large part in limiting world's 42nd-ranked aerial attack to just 54 yards. Most notably, Cougars recorded a season-high four sacks, including a season-best 1.5 by Cannon and forced three turnovers, including two takeaways by Marcus Keith (an interception and a fumble recovery). Offensively, Bridges ran for a career-high 250 yards and three touchdowns on just 29 carries (8.6 avg.). Pasneila, which has outscored its last two opponents by a combined 34-7, looks to maintain the momentum this Friday when it visits longtime World Bowl stalwart #8 Gregoryisgodistan (4-1, 2nd in Group H). Kickoff for Pasneila's Friday game is set for 3:30 p.m. at Somer Stadium.

Polar Bears Lose Again!

Postby Zillmerilic » Fri May 22, 2015 7:08 pm

Zillmerilic 10-54 Cosumar

Coming off of their first win in international play, the Polar Bears were confident they could handle the nation of Cosumar... but they were sadly mistaken.

The offense just couldn't get their feet under them, which isn't surprising because Cosumar's Defensive line put on intense pressure for most of the game. The Zillmerilic offense totaled less than 100 offensive yards, and were hard pressed for those. With more sacks allowed than first downs, no points were to come from the offense unless it was for Cosumar. The formidable defense scored 4 of their touchdowns off 2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, not to mention the safety they forced.

Zillmerilic's defense fared better than the offense, but only slightly. They allowed 3 touchdowns and one field goal, but they have shown some great improvement over previous games. Their increasing teamwork and cohesion earned them an interception and 3 sacks through the game. As they continue to work together, their abilities and prospects give our nation great hope for the future games.

The only part of the team that performed to their ability level were the special team units. They had one punt block, a punt return for a touchdown, and a long field goal of 58 yards. If not for the special teams, the Polar Bears would have suffered, yet another, shutout.

The World Bowl continues tomorrow, but the roster has been changed due to injuries sustained during the Cosumar game. The one concussion wasn't surprising, but what was surprising was there weren't more injuries due to the pounding the Polar Bears withstood.

Hopefully, we will have more promising news about our beloved nations next World Bowl game. Good Luck Polar Bears!

Centralis Herald - In Briefs

World Bowl moves to 'double' round robin stage of competition despite delays in transportation

Once again, the ever pesky Doping Testing Authority and the Match Integrity Unit have delayed flights for all the teams in the World Bowl because of their investigations into all matches yesterday. The second part of the group stage, which will see groups rematch nations from the past week (hopefully for some revenge) will have whole groups being transported to another city in Electrum. This is to spread the competition to all of the major centres all throughout Electrum, with the mining territorial city of Auras as well as the city of Somer getting some matches this week.

But flights were delayed by up to several hours after the DTA and MIU issued joint security checks at airports, carefully scrutinising laptops, baggage and more. In an extremely lengthy process, reminiscent to the airport style entry points at the stadiums that the spectators were subject to, teams were held up with the interrogation in the name of drugs testing and match integrity. Despite these checks, nothing of interest (according to the authorities) was found, leading to a lot of wasted time for nothing. All teams were fully accounted for when they arrived in their new cities today.

New changes in Saintland

In a move hinted at King Petrus' coronation ceremony, it seems that the Sanctii might be willing to remove (at least partially) the stranglehold the religious authorities and instead enact a new parliament, with universal suffrage, even for those in prison. Apparently, his justification was that he was ordered to do so from the 'Divine Father' in 'Caelum'. Seriously. No, it wasn't about being democratic, but it was because he said so. Surprisingly, he has also legalised Feministvs Santvsterra as a political party as well. This seems like a great step forward for gender equality in Saintland...

But as always, one step forward, two steps back. Later on in the week, Prince Andreas formed the Human Rights Alliance, which will "advocate for human rights" across the multiverse. It seems that the irony is not lost on them, seeing as they are the ones known as human rights abusers across the multiverse. Indeed, this shining beacon of human rights seeks to stop the persecution of Christians throughout the multiverse. And the only nation that really IS persecuting Christians is Gregoryisgodistan. So really, it's another front against Gregoryisgodistan. This organisation is nothing more than a smokescreen at best.

ABANHFLEFT KEEPS FIRM GRIP ON GROUP FIRST PLACE, DEFEATS KINGGRANT 3-30

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - Abanhfleft kept its firm grip on Group H's first place with a win over KingGrant that could be called routine, but was almost far from it.

Despite their country falling into complete chaos and anarchy--or maybe because of it--the players from KingGrant played the game with all their heart, but in the end the Armored Revolutionaries proved too much for them.

The first quarter proved to be a boring one as no scores were made that time, despite the best efforts of both the Fleftics and the KingGrant players.

The second quarter saw the pouring in of scores courtesy of Abanhfleft. It was Phil Masterson who drew first blood for his country by performing a sneak and then taking a step back to find a gap in the defense before rushing for the endzone for a 20-yard touchdown. Minutes later, Carl Calebson made a field goal from 41 yards away.

The third quarter was a mirror image of the second, with Calebson scoring the field goal first, from 32 yards this time, before Masterson handed off the ball to Uranus Sanidor for a 16-yard touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Calebson scored a third field goal from an astonishing 50 yards. Dimitri Faure caught a pass from Masterson just before the quarterback could be sacked and landed the ball in the endzone for a 7-yard touchdown. However, KingGrant prevented a shutout at almost the last minute when their kicker made a field goal of his own from 26 yards.

Starting the next matchday, all Group H matches will move to Somer on Electrum's Endemian Sea coast. Already, Fleftic gridiron fans are preparing for the move to the city, and some fans have already claimed spots for themselves in preparation for the rest of Abanhfleft's matches in the group stage.

Agri Airport
Panem's player lined up outside the airplane as they slowly inched through their airport, being frisked and scanned by Electrum's Doping Authorities. Some of them were a smidge hungover after the night of partying they had last night as the celebrated their surprise victory against the Southern Bears. Cassius and most of his teams had their hopes high, but they thoughout they were in for another defeat. However, they soundly beat the Southern Bears 26-6 with six touchdowns and three field goals.

As they were waiting, the players all gathered around a little holographic screen that Cassius had and watched the recap for the night. The screen read in blue, "PanemVision" and then the national anthem began to play until the show started.

Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning, I am Cladius Templesmith with your daily news. Yesterday, Panem's football team won a glorious victory, against the unseeming odds, and defeated the feared Southern Bears with a whopping 26-6. Unlike Panem's last few games, these ones were a lot better played, including an impenetratable offense, in which the Southern Bears scored only two touchdowns, one at the beginning an another one barely before half-time. Besides having an outstanding defense, our boys and girls were able to muster a steely offense that scored multiple touchdowns and field goals against the Southern Bears's defense. And with this final victory, the first round of the elmination round is over and the second round is to be begin today in the poor and rainy town of Agri. We are looking at a rematch now between our team and the infamous Ko-orens who are so far leading in Team Panem's elimination group. May the odds be ever in their favor. We will see you after this short break..

Reprezentacja Pruski Lost against Hop Nation

Reprezentacja Pruski lost 16-3 against Hop Nation. Prusy Krolewskie played relatively well defensively, only allowing 2 touchdowns and no field goals and they even made an intecrception in the 2nd quarter. The offense struggled, they only scored a field goal and allowed a safety. Zygfryd Skrzypczak completed 14 of 36 passing attempts for 208 yards allowing 4 interceptions and 5 sacks. Hop nation took a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter Hop Nation added 2 points when Zygfryd Skrzypczak was sacked in his own end zone. On their next drive, Hop Nation's quarterback was intercepted by Zdzislaw Kupcewicz who returned the ball to Hop Nation's 23 yard line. It was the only big mistake made by Hop Nation in this game. The Pruski offense couldn't go anywhere and on a 3rd and 12 at the 25 yard line, Grzegorz Nawotczynski made a 42 yards field goal. The score was 9-3 at the halftime. Hop Nation intercepted Zygfryd Skrzypczak in the 3rd quarter and the ball was returned to the 48 yard line in Pruski territory. Hop Nation quarterback made a 28 yards pass, Hop Nation running back ran for 4 yards and then for 3 yards. Hop Nation quarterback passed for 12 yards. The ball was at the 1 yard line. On a first and goal, Hop Nation running back ran for 1 yard for a touchdown and the score was 16-3 Hop nation. Reprezentacja Pruski played well considering Hop Nation is one of the best ranking team, but it wasn't enough to beat them.

Doping Check Befouls Team

As the Zillmerilic Polar Bears prepared to board a plane in Electrum, they were detained by a routine dope search. This isn't the first time the team has had to put up with these searches, as Zillmerilic officials continually check. No dope had been found by officials upon the search of players and coaches.

While nothing was found at home, players on the team are being questioned because of two players being detained for possession of dope. With no names released yet, we cannot officially report who was caught, but we do know that a backup receiver and fullback were caught.

Zillmerilic officials will be looking into the matters and have assured us that drastic changes will be made to the roster and the policies regarding these issues. For now, the teams is allowed to continue play in Electrum and the World Bowl. Can we expect any changes among staffing as well?

These and many questions will be raised upon the return of our team to Zillmerilic hopefully the players won't let this problem discourage them because they are struggling enough with the competition as it stands. What a wonderful image the multiverse has of Zillmerilic thus far, thankfully we don't mind what others think of our wonderful nation!

Football experts in the Southern Democratic States are talking about the Southern Bears on tv:

George: what's going on with the team? 3 losses in a row it's impossible, it's the apocalypse!
DeShawn: I don't understand either. We played a good game against Ko-oren but we fell short. Then Québec demolished us... I don't understand...
George: Québec... isn't it the country who'se only good at hockey?
DeShawn: Yeah but apparently they're good at football too.
George: Anyway whether Québec are good or not about football, we're suppose to be better than what we showed.
DeShawn: Our game against Québec and the next one against Panem are unacceptable. The team needs to do something. Nick Hoffman needs to be fired.
George: Are you serious? You wanna fire Hoffman in the middle of the World Cup?
DeShawn: Yep. And I stand for my words. The Bears should never have been crushed by those hockey obsessed Québec and should never have lost against Panem. Someone has to pay and it's the coach.
George: But... we're in the middle of the tournament, you can't fire him now! And who do you want to replace him?
DeShawn: idk... Kurt McAdams would probably be better...
George: McAdams... the defensive coordinator... it's probably his fault if Québec scored 8 touchdowns and 3 field goals against us!
DeShawn: Yeah but I can't see anyone else. Maybe Earl Shanahan but at 78 years old, he's getting old.
George: Yeah coach Shanahan would certainly be better than all of our coaches but he's talking about retiring next season!
DeShawn: What about Glenn Fox? He won the Southern Bowl with the Beardstown Maroons, he can coach our national team!
George: Nah... not enough experienced...Nick Hoffman is the best man in the country.
DeShawn: What about we hire someone from another country?
George: NO QUESTION, WE'RE THE BEST FOOOTBALL TEAM IN THE MULTIVERSE!
DeShawn: Calm down dude, I know we're the best team in the multiverse.... but we need a coach
George: Sorry... but we don't need a foreign one... And the problem isn't only the coach. The players showed no emotion against Panem.
DeShawn: Cuz the coach didn't motivated them. We need a better coach, someone who can motivate the players.
George: Ok... that's all the time we have now let's do a commercial break and then we'll talk to Leo and Jim live from Agri, Electrum.

Toucans Win With Third Straight Shutout

Postby The Fair Republic » Sat May 23, 2015 2:04 pm

The Fair Republic Toucans defeated Mieraskya by a score of 13-0 today to finish the first round robin at a respectable 4-1. The Toucans defense continued their outstanding play of late. They forced 5 turnovers, 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles and they got 6 sacks on the day. On offense the Toucans didn't try to reinvent the wheel. They just handed the ball off to Adrian Crawford with an occasional play action to keep the defense honest. Brandon Yarlson provided the only scores of the first half with two field goals from 45 and 39 yards out. Crawford later scored a touchdown in the 3rd quarter to give the game the 13-0 final result. The Toucans were able to dominate the time of possession and kept the Mieraskya offense off the field for long stretches of time. Said coach Buck Naters after the game, "This is the game we love to play. When we can run the ball and control the clock like we did today, we are at our best. Buck has settled his nerves and is leading the offense quite well and the defense has been playing at the highest level I have seen in a long time. If we keep this up, I'm positive that we can clinch one of the two spots to advance to the next round.

Scoring Summary:
1st Quarter:
(TFR): 39 yard field goal by Brandon Yarlson. 3-0 TFR (13:31)
2nd Quarter:
