Raedburg have been well on the prowl for the quadruple this season and have already claimed the League Cup and National Soccer League titles, with just two finals remaining: the National Cup against Mortoge and the URFA Champions League against Bayern Munich. Perhaps it was a rush of excitement ahead of these imposing fixtures that overcame the Dragons as they put eight past UC Gênua.

It was Marco Reus who put Raedburg up just four minutes into the match, latching on to a cross from Di María and firing home. The lead was doubled almost immediately as a tenth minute strike from Lewis Gïll rattled the bar and went in. Fantastic play from the home side allowed their striker to take advantage of Altova Danta’s poor pass and grab a goal to bring them back into the game.

24-year-old Adrïn, who has always been known for his aggression as a defender, gave away a penalty in the twenty-fourth minute as he brought down Gênua’s winger in the 18-yard box. The penalty was struck excellently and even Dako Zienen couldn’t stop it hitting the back of the net despite his name as an unbeatable goalkeeper and one known for his penalty saves.

Lewis Gïll was ready and alert to play Reus through just outside the box, and the Avantian midfielder was unselfish in playing a through ball back. Gïll lost possession mid-run but was quick enough to regain the ball and whip a great cross into the box which was headed past the goalkeeper by Dirk Kaïs as Raedburg took a 3-2 lead. Reus was rewarded for his generosity as he grabbed his second goal of the game after he was skilfully played through by Kale Kazern.

Four goals wasn’t enough to satisfy Raedburg as Jaden Araädel and Reuben Pazhkelazo were both on target to increase the Dragons’ lead to 6-2. Araädel played an over-the-top through ball to Kais, and the 31-year-old hit the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs straight back to Araadel who need only a tap to finish it. Pazhkelazo’s goal was assisted by Altova Danta - the Teremultese defender punting the ball far up the field to the winger who smashed it into the corner.

Mario Güzen and Adrian Klürse were brought on for the end of the second half, but Lewis Gïll played some fine passing with Reuben Pazhkelazo and fired home Raedburg’s seventh goal of the game before his 20-year-old replacement was brought on. And what a way to top off an outstanding performance throughout the match than for Marco Reus to bag his hat trick, scoring a perfect volley from Araädel’s corner to earn Raedburg an 8-2 victory and 3 well-earned points.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Marco Reus. The midfielder scored three and played excellent throughout the match.

A new season of the Multiverse Premier League brought with it a knockout cup competition for all clubs to participate in. Raedburg, along with the other eleven Premier League sides, entered the tournament in the Round of 32. The Dragons were drawn against Screeching Hordes and swept them aside in an 8-1 win.

Lewis Gïll opened the scoring in style, netting a fantastic volley from Jaden Araädel’s cross. It may have taken twenty-five minutes, but the chance was taken well and the game continued to produce goal after goal as Mario Güzen doubled the lead, firing home from 23-yards, before Reuben Pazhkelazo cut in from the left and beat the goalkeeper with ease.

A praising half time team talk from Redfield plus the substitution of Ricardo Rubin - the Teremultese winger returning from injury to replace Di María for the second half - saw the Dragons fire five well-worked goals past their visitors at the Republic Stadium.

Almost right away James Rodríguez was on target to increase the lead after receiving a long pass from Aáron Gonzalez. But relaxed defending from the champions allowed the Screeching Hordes striker to sneak past Miguel Rodrígo and bag a goal to bring the score to 4-1.

The shock of conceding such a goal was swatted aside by the players as the supporters cheered them on to another goal. Reuben Pazhkelazo controlled Valdés’ long punt with his chest and played a cross into the box. 23-year-old Gïll reached it with his head to increase Raedburg’s lead. James made it 6-1 with a second excellent strike after latching on to Gïll’s pass.

Ricardo Rubin proved why he is one of the best wingers in the world as he found Gïll in acres of space with a great pass before finishing the Zitran’s return ball and putting Raedburg 7-1 up. He scored the final goal of the game from a corner when Jaden Araädel whipped the ball into the 18-yard box, allowing the Teremult international to volley it into the back of the net.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Ricardo Rubin. His fantastic return from injury was marked with two goals and an outstanding performance.
Rubin return, Di María place in peril?
An unexpected injury to Ricardo Rubin in the 2014-15 URFA Champions League group stage against Paris Saint-Germain saw the Teremultese international out of action for almost 8 months. The vacant position of right midfield in the starting eleven was taken by Argentine star Ángel Di María who signed from Real Madrid in the summer. The 27-year-old has performed well to retain his place in the squad over the younger Dzukë.

However, Rubin made a quick recovery in just 6 months and earned a place on the bench for Raedburg’s Multiverse Premier League Cup Round of 32 clash with Screeching Hordes. The 23-year-old was substituted on at half time for Di María - the player who had taken his place following his injury - and bagged two goals as well as performing very well despite slight traces of injury. The question on all Raedburg fans’ minds is: will Di María be dropped?

Draw vs. Polaaberg Feels Like a Loss
By Carlos del Toro less than a day ago\

There are draws that feel like wins and draws that feel like losses, and then there are draws that feel like you just lost to a team that has yet to win a match, a team that you beat 8-1 in the season opener, and draws that make you feel like you're now three points out of the lead.

It would be easy to pin the loss on Andre Lokomarav, and he definitely deserves a lion's share of the blame. Early on, a miscue between Oliver Donovan and the returning Trevor Hyde allowed a Polaaberg midfielder to penetrate into the Strangers' defensive third. Bayne was caught out of position, having drifted north to aid in the attack, so Lokomarav came out of the box to pin the Polaaberg player down until help could arrive.

Except he didn't; instead, he launched into a slide tackle that would not have been out of place coming from Clarissa Bartlett of the Yuma Matadors gridiron team, taking the player out on what was a clear chance to score. The referee showed red, the midfielder scored on his penalty, and suddenly we were playing with ten men half an hour into the match.

Coach Finke made the wise decision to keep his defense at three men and allow Hoover to sweep the back as the lone centerback, a position he is expected to play on Zane Rodriguez's 3-4-3 national team in the upcoming Baptism of Fire. The ex-frat boy acquitted himself extremely well, earning man of the match honors for his tireless back-and-forth until he finally got gassed and had to be replaced with fresh legs at the very end.

Another bright spot was Jules Walsh, who replaced a similarly exhausted Gottlieb Rieglberg at the hour mark and scored the equalizer on an unglamorous chip shot off an excellent cross by Oliver Donovan. Walsh has historically been a slow, slightly confused striker, a poor third choice behind Christian Cleveland and either Rieglberg or Sean Bennett, but tonight she acquitted herself excellently, generating chances and contributing to the defense wherever she had the opportunity.

Besides the obvious, the biggest question mark last night was the midfield. Oliver Donovan looked to be in typical form, and Lilian Dorsey was indispensable as always in her new home as a defensive mid, but the triumphant return of Trevor Hyde saw the team captain looking like a rookie who'd never worn green and bronze before. Despite his greenness, Lachlan Frazer looked like a much better choice on the left wing when he took over.

Now three points behind Cornellians, every game becomes a must-win for the Strangers until Week 16, when they will face Cornellians for a potential chance to leapfrog into the lead once more. Unfortunately, this fact, coupled with the first training camp for the Mesillano senior national team, means that next week's Cup match against Emeros FC will likely not see the Strangers' first team in order to rest our ailing starters.

A national, interregional football tournament was shaping up in the corner of the globe known as Esportiva. It was the Campionato Esportiva XIII to be exact. With the current state of Emeros FC and its relative success, it was decided that much of the roster would carry over.

Tim Tomasson spoke, "Chemistry. It's all about chemistry. These guys know how to play as a unit. That is what we want to bring to the Campionato. Unity. The bench is going to get a lot deeper though."

RM - Tommy Yoll
CM - Max Tonnal
RB - Michael Dratcherson

Those are the only deviations from the Emeros FC roster at present time. Tommy Yoll is one of the fastest wingers and sharpest passers in The Vannish Football League. It is hoped that he can gel well with Vonoss, the star Striker from Emeros FC. Yoll plays for the East Auster Timberwolves, a competitive team in its league.

Max Tonnal is a dual citizen of Vangaziland and the tropical island chain known as the Svennish Isles. He is young and excited to be on the starting 11. He is another shooter, quick to get through balls and quick to put up second chance shots.

Michael Dratcherson is a stone cold defender. Tough as nails, cold as ice but professional enough to avoid the red cards. He has speed and power, which make for fast accurate clearances.

The coach was quoted as saying Emeros FC would be a lot deeper with those three players and is glad to be working with them in the CE XIII.

The bench underwent a major overhaul for the tournament. Skilled, developing Vannish players replace international role players on the bench. Now the bench will be young, fast and powerful.

All in preparation for one region's storied tournament....

But will it be enough?

Still unbeaten, just three goals conceded, breezing towards promotion. Things were looking sweet for the Saints at the halfway mark.
Triffid Ramsey scratched her neck awkwardly as she waited in the threadbare hallway. Things were looking sweet... but they were about to lose their leftback. Her.
She'd heard it was a deal in the hundreds of thousands. That was more within the range of what she dreamed about as a child, as opposed to her prior experience of flunking out of the Chenoworth academy after a successful stint in the fourth-tier. She'd bet a lot of others in the team felt the same way, too. God knew Theo Michaels, who'd scored his eighth last match, felt that way. He'd gone from sullen and defeated to swaggering - a natural rabbit killer suddenly let into the warren. Bartok, at the tail end of her career. Her roommate Peacock, slowly rehabilitating and privately sharing the same ambitions of a move back up.
The good times had continued to roll. Seemingly nobody in the league had the answer to the Sgouros-Katsalidis partnership, and Anastasia 'Stasi Stasi' Stasinopolous was a towering, reliable presence.
She'd done her part too, of course. She'd even scored in her last match - overlapping with big Nial Feirsen, making a diagonal run to cut inside the 33-year old Bettany and, once Feirsen threaded the forward ball through, hitting the ball first-time underneath young Hartigan.
Hit it with her right, too. She'd always been told that two feet made you three times the player, but that was the first time it had seemed to actually work out on the pitch.
Feirsen and Sarah Dennis had both arrived from her destination - the Cornellians, of Schottia. Both were complimentary, maybe a little envious. But they'd helped encourage her.
So had her father, of course, but then he would, wouldn't he? Always try to get that next step up, that was the code he lived by.
"Come in," came the brusque voice from inside the office. So much for her internal monologue.
She did, lowering herself into a seat before she could be offered one.
Constantine Katsaros looked up at her, wearily. "So you're really gonna do it, huh? After... what, nine league games?"
"They were a good nine games, guv," said Ramsey loyally.
"You know they're offering six hundred thousand for you, yeah?"
"'S a good bit of money, guv. You got me free."
"It is. And I'm letting it go through, if you're still gonna take it."
Ramsey nodded.
Katsaros sighed. "You sure it'll work out for you? You went from the fourth-tier in Nephara to the third-tier here. And now this, after nine games?"
"Sometimes you've just got to back yourself."
"True, true. Look, I didn't come here to talk you out if you were confident. Just to make sure that you were. Personally, I'll be looking on your career with interest." He rose, and so did she - and they shook hands over the desk.
As Ramsey moved to leave, she turned her head. "Oh, and, uh. Y'know I called my dad for advice about this all?"
"Yeah?" Constantine Katsaros was impassive, despite more or less being the spitting (Greek) image of Gethin Ramsey. Same nation, same wolverine build, same managerial style. Truth be told, Triffid Ramsey had found that reassuring rather than creepy. Maybe a little of both.
"Just... said you have a lot of admirers back home. And you wouldn't, uh, fail to find a job."
"Home." Katsaros chuckled. "This always was my home, Triff. I just left for a few years, is all."
"Yeah, thirty-five years."
"You told me when you arrived that this was the first time you'd even been out of Nephara. You... wouldn't understand."
"Even so, guv..." Ramsey chewed her lip, wondering how diplomatic to be. "I mean, this place is kind of a shithole, right?"
"Well. Yeah. But as long as I'm here, it won't fucking stay that way."
Ramsey nodded. "Y'know, my dad was pretty confident you'd be on your way but I knew you'd stick around. Despite, like, everything. Good luck saving all this, guv'nor."
She opened the door and left.

The first match after Ramsey left, the Saints lost.
Katsalidis was his best leftback now, but he was also an even better centre-half, and he was loathe to break up his partnership with Sgouros. So the Quebecois Bishop, whose career had been broken up by military service, started against Badtunna Rovers. He was 31, a true athlete, but didn't have nearly the classy technique offered by Ramsey. She wasn't a top-tier player but she had, at least, been through a top-tier academy. Bishop defended comfortably - shutting Pelissier out of the game, for the most part - but his crossing was erratic at best.
It was Peacock's attempts to overcompensate on the right that cost them, though. Sarmilayenko took advantage of some space to cut inside and then cut the ball back for the laconically-named Lea to clip a low first-time shot past Stasinopolous' outstretched hands.
It was their first defeat in a competitive match.
Six hundred thousand was a lot of money, sure, and Ramsey might have gotten ... difficult, had she been blocked. And they were still winning the division at a canter. But suddenly, for the first time, there were doubts. And six hundred thousand pounds couldn't play leftback.
Had the balance of the team been compromised?

ARSENAL DE RELEINTHI CONTINUE WINNINGS WAYS WITH VICTORY OVER EMEROS FC

EMEROS, VANGAZILAND - Arsenal de Releinthi continued on their winning ways in the Multiverse Conference B with another win over Emeros FC, completing the league double against the Vangaziland club.

Alexandre Cuvillier headed in a corner kick from Elliot Edison to give Arsenal the opening goal and the lead in the 16th minute.

Godzilla followed twelve minutes later with a rocket of a shot into the top right corner that the Emeros keeper simply didn't bother to block lest it injure his hands due to its sheer speed.

In the second half, Emeros finally got a goal back courtesy of striker Anthony Vonoss, who chested down a cross from Frank Bedrix before slotting it to the right of Bradford Jones, who reached out for the ball but just couldn't quite reach it with the tips of his fingers.

But Zar Mihailovic finally secured victory for his team courtesy of a toe poke after Godzilla's shot was saved by the Emeros keeper. The ball landed at Mihailovic's feet, and all he had to do was steer the ball in the right direction with his right foot.

With eight games left to play in the Conference, Arsenal de Releinthi look set to secure first place, the trophy, and instant promotion to the Multiverse Championship. It also has an MPL Cup tie against Buyan's Dyatinsk Barbarians to look forward to.

ARSENAL DE RELEINTHI BARELY ESCAPE SZAVODA BY SKIN OF THEIR TEETH WITH WIN 2-1 OVER SZATEC INVITATIONAL

SZAVODA - Despite going down 1-0 on the opponents' home ground, Arsenal de Releinthi rallied in the second half to win against the SzaTec Invitational XI 2-1.

After thirty minutes of slow and boring possession football, it was SzaTec Invitational that got the first goal, but it wasn't due to any contribution from their own players. Arsenal were defending a SzaTec corner, and the SzaTec corner taker whipped the ball into the box in an attempt to find a teammate's head or foot. Instead it found the chest of Abdullah Karimullah, who had started in place of Ralph Dominguez who had picked up a strained hamstring in Arsenal's last game. The ball bounced on Karimullah's chest and towards goal, and Bradford Jones was so surprised by the ball's impact on Karimullah that he literally flipped, giving the ball a clear path to the back of the net.

Arsenal came into the second half scrambling to pull back at least a goal after Karimullah's own goal, and they were finally rewarded in the 82nd minute when Obaidullah Karim steered clear of the SzaTec keeper and caught the ball that David Osisek had rolled across the mouth of goal.

With five minutes of injury time given, Arsenal seemed to have gotten a second wind, and they searched for a second goal with renewed gusto. Finally, three minutes into added time, Arsenal got that important winning goal, and it was Zar Mihailovic, the Szavodan native now playing for Arsenal, that scored it.

Mihailovic's goal seemed to have been written in the stars in that everything seemed to have fallen into place for him to score. Abdullah Karimullah crossed the ball into the box, and it fell at Mihailovic's feet. Mihailovic fended off a defender, and then he shot for goal with his weak left foot. Despite that, the ball managed to curve away from the keeper before turning back towards the net. The ball went into the gap between the keeper's right hand and the left goalpost, and Arsenal maintained their winning streak.

THEREISNOGODISTAN FINALLY SUCCEED AGAINST ALSTAGRUUKET SARLACCS, WIN 3-0 AGAINST COSUMARITE SIDE

By Malik Qazizadah

THEREISNOGODABAD, FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA - Thereisnogodistan FC finally managed to score against Alstagruuket Sarlaccs, the Cosumarite side that had forced them into a 0-0 draw at the start of the MPL season and quite possibly led to the Atheists' slump in form.

Zack Ervin received the cross from his fellow winger Olen Celis and made an acute shot at goal with his weak left foot. The Sarlaccs keeper was beaten, but the ball looked like it would just roll wide of goal. But then the ball hit the right post and went into the net. All 18,000 Thereisnogodistan fans that packed into Richard Dawkins Park to witness the game yelled out in thunderous applause once their winger's goal had been confirmed.

Thereisnogodistan's goal, ironically enough, would turn out to be an own goal. With every player except Wally Arredondo inside the Sarlaccs half, there were quite a number of players from both teams inside the penalty box. Zack Ervin, the goalscorer, made a wishful cross into the box, hoping that someone from his own team would get to the ball. It wasn't to be. The ball hit the top of Dennis Dellavedova's head, and it went between the crossbar and the Sarlaccs keeper's outstretched hand. It was a mistake that would eventually cost the Sarlaccs the whole game.

Thereisnogodistan's third goal came in the second half, when substitute Rayford Talton beat his marker and nodded the ball into the net after a corner kick from fellow sub Arlen Pounds.

THEREISNOGODISTAN DROP POINTS AGAINST AS BLAINVILLE, LOSE 2-1 TO LES HABITANTS SIDE
By Malik Qazizadah

THEREISNOGODABAD, FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA - Thereisnogodistan dropped all three points against Pays d'en Haut's AS Blainville as Le Habitant's side got back two goals within the last ten minutes of the game despite almost complete domination of the Atheists.

Hugo Willmore gave Thereisnogodistan a quick lead with a ferocious shot at goal in the 9th minute that the Blainville keeper was in no way able to save.

After that, the Blainville defense parked the bus, or what passed for a bus in their country, and the Atheists found it hard to penetrate the 11-man defense.

Despite that, it was Thereisnogodistan which got the lion's share of the attacks and the possession, and Blainville's attacks were few and far between.

Blainville finally decided to get out of the bus and risk an attack, and they were immediately rewarded with a goal courtesy of Martin Prévost, who chipped a shot above Wally Arredondo in the hope that it would clear the keeper and fall into the net, which it did.

With only two minutes of added time, Blainville went on the ultra attack, and Thereisnogodistan had to absorb the pressure from Les Habitants. Finally, in the pivotal last minute of the game, Blainville went all out with their offensive options and called upon their keeper Simon Gauthier to move up into the Thereisnogodistan box. Nicolas Lapointe sent in the ball from the left corner. The ball hit Alexandre Lamoreux in the head, but Wally Arredondo's quick reflexes managed to punch the ball away from the goal. Unfortunately the ball flew right into Simon Gauthier's chest and went into the net, giving the Habitant keeper his first ever goal in the competition. A goalie scoring a goal was a rare opportunity indeed, and even though it was against their team, the Thereisnogodistan fans couldn't help but clap at Gauthier's goal.

This result sees Thereisnogodistan plummet to fifth in the Premier League table.

Cornellians 2-1 Raedburg
Lochend Park
Goals: 33" Dobrescu, 60" Purinton. (Cornellians)
68" Gïll. (Raedburg)

Schottic side Cornellians edged ever closer to their first MPL title yesterday with a 2-1 win over fellow title challengers Raedurg. The Eagles, in what was a fascinatingly close game, managed to edge out their Zitran opponents with goals form Cosmin Dobrescu and Eloisa Purinton, to retake top spot from Messilan side Strangers.

The match which, saw new $600,000 signing Triffid Ramsey make her debut, was one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the season so far. Fans will fondly remember the battles between Cornellians and Raedburgh last season, en route to finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ramsey was filling in for captain Alexander Pearce, after the 38-year-old was punched in the face during their match with Thereisnogodistan. It was to be a baptism of fire for the 21-year-old from Nephara, as she was treated to a torrid time from Ricardo Rubin. Jumping two divisions is never easy, but there were already a few signs of what she might be capable of given a chance.

It was a cagey opening thirty minutes, with neither side able to break down the opposition effectively. The Schottic side's best chance early on came thanks to a long range effort from Cleopas. The Edomite managing to get the other side of Kazern, before sending his shot just wide of Zienen's goal. There was also a chance at the other end when star striker Lewis Gill managed knock the ball past Scott Burton, however the young player couldn't gather possession before it ran through to Jeremy McNott.

When Cornellians finally broke the deadlock it was on the half hour mark. A great pass from Satiago Lowe found Kirisakian midfielder Tsumugi Narita in space, and after a quick exchange with Mark Kelman, she flicked the ball on to Dobrescu. The Jedorian, was once again composed as he left Zienen flapping to give Cornellians the lead.

This was never going to be an easy game and had McNott not been on his toes Raedburd would have equalised immediately. Jaden Araädel, finding the ball in space picked out the run of Dirk Kaïs from deep, but the Schottic keeper did well to turn the ball out for a corner.

There were a few more half chances for both sides, but as the match reached half time, the scores read Cornellians 1-0 Raedburg.

It was more of the same in the second 45, and as Raedburg looked hard for the equaliser there was always the chance that Cornellians could catch them on the counter. It was on one of these occasions, after a scrambled clearance from Scott Burton, that the ball found its way to Ramsey in space down the left. The former Saints striker played the ball ahead of her to Dobrecu, who passed the ball back in field to Mark Kelman. The Schottic internationalist then hit a long hopeful ball forwards towards Eloisa Purinton, who diving at full stretch, got just enough contact to put the ball beyond Zienen.

The score was 2-0, and for the first time in an hour the Cornellians fans could leave the edge of their seats. It wasn't to last however, as Raedburg struck back eight minutes later.

To have not scored would have been harsh on the Dragons, given that they pressed so hard in the opening half. They were rewarded for this pressure when another great flowing move resulted in a goal for Lewis Gill. Adrïn passed the ball down the right to Jaden Araädel, who in turn managed to find the ran of Gill. The striker, in the end, did well to jink past Ramsey before giving his side a life line.

After the goal went in Cornellians did their best to tighten things up, and made it more difficult for Raedburg. There were a few late scares as the visitors searched desperately for a share of the points, but with home advantage the Eagles did just enough.

Line up: McNott 7, Lowe 7, Ramsey 6, Burton 7, Pabadakis 6 McIntyre 7, Dobrescu 8 (61 Keirut 6), Kelman 7, Narita 8, Cleopas 7, Purinton 7 (75 Bhosz 6)

Man of the match: Narita. Fantastic passing genius from the teenager. Her quick technical style of play is like a breath of fresh air in Schottic football.

AS Blainville 2-1 Cornellians
Park Blainville
Goals: 57" Burton, 82" Cleopas. (Cornellians)
41" Lamoureux. (Blainville)

Crowding into the tiny Park Blainville in Pays d'en Haut is never an easy experience, especially for a team used to playing in front of 80,000 people each week. With that in mind Cornellians were treated to a torrid afternoon, where their best efforts to get the upper hand were constantly quashed by a resilient Blainville side.

Even the return of Alexander Pearce wasn't enough to help the Schottic side break the deadlock in the opening half. Mark Kelman and Tsumugi Narita found themselves going constantly toe-to-toe with with the Blainville players in the midfield, as players like Luc of Clan Leclerc made things impossible of the league leaders. With chance thin on the ground, Jock Sonny's men were reduced to shooting from distance, to have any hope of getting on the score-sheet.

Things got even worse for the Eagles just before half time, when Cosmin Dobrescu gave away possession to Baril, who taking the ball forward all of 30 meters, played a cross field ball to Prévost. the attacker then turned quickly leaving Kelman exposed, before picking out Lamoureux. The player still had it all to do, but he was able get himself through on goal, before beating Jeremy McNott with an accurate chip shot.

Cornellians were force to regroup at half time, and Sonny's words must have had some affect, as his side came out transformed in the second half.

Time and time again, players such as Dennis, Purrinton, and Dobrescu pushed and pulled at the opposition defenders, but they were still unable to find a way through. The visitors break came on 57 minutes, when a fantastic pass from Purinton set Cleopas through one-on-one with the keeper. To his dismay Gauthier was able to push the ball out for a corner, the resulting kick was to be taken by Dobrescu. The ball was swung in at pace, and connected with the head of centre-back Scott Burton, who nodded home his first goal of the season.

Schottia kept the pressure up, knowing that there could be no cheep points lost if they were to win the title. Even with all their pressure it was eight minutes from the end before they sealed the three points. Substitute Carus, receiving a pass form Narita, was able to squeeze the ball forward to Cleopas. This time the striker made no mistake, sending the ball into the back of the net, much to the relief of the small traveling support.

Line up: McNott 7, Lowe 7, Pearce 7(84 Ramsey 6), Burton 7, Pabadakis 6 Dennis 7, Dobrescu 8 (82 Richard 5), Kelman 7 (67 Carus 6), Narita 7, Cleopas 8, Purinton 7

Man of the match:Cleopas. His late goal made him a hero in what was a tricky away day.

Away days are always difficult for every club, no matter how big they may be, and an away fixture against a club pushing for the Premier League title after losing out the season before is even more difficult. Cornellians showed no mercy as they held on to rob Raedburg of 3 much needed points in their 2-1 victory.

While various chances arrived for both sides during the most part of the first half, neither could find the back of the net. Daniel Cleopas was denied by Dako Zienen in the seventh minute of the match as the striker smashed a long range shot at the 27-year-old stopper - a shot which the ex-Tweakavant player could only parry away. A chance for the Dragons to snatch the lead from their rivals was thrown away as Lewis Gill lost possession in the 18-yard box. The striker utilized his unbelievable dribbling skills paired with his pace to take him around various Cornellians defenders - including Burton - but goalkeeper Jeremy McNott was quick to scoop the ball to safety.

Cornellians took the lead in the 33rd minute, courtesy of the outstanding performer by the name of Cosmin Dobrescu. The player was assisted by Kelman - who played exchange passing with the youngster Narita before flicking the ball on to Dobrescu - and Dako Zienen was beaten with ease as the ball was slotted into the bottom left of the net.

Various other chances came for Raedburg, particularly from Jaden Araadel and Dirk Kais, who both played fantastic to have a shot on goal only to be denied by McNott. Later on in the game, Cornellians’ lead was doubled by Eloisa Purinton, the Gloriaxian again beating Zienen to slip the ball into the net. Lewis Gill cannot go a game without a goal, and the young Zitran international was once again rewarded for his outstanding performance as he flicked the ball past McNott to grab a consolation goal for Raedburg.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Lewis Gill. The youngster was on target once again to score for Raedburg.

Clean Sheets Signal Return to Form for Strangers
By Carlos del Toro less than a day ago
Scorelines like 4-0 and 5-0 are somewhat nostalgic for Strangers fans, who remember the days just last season when they were routinely blanking teams in the second-tier Multiverse Championship thanks to an unlucky draw that saw them fall just short of the MPL least season. The last two results were a blast from the past as Strangers recorded two more goose eggs for the opposing team while the offense riddled the opposing defense with goals.

Strangers versus Highale City saw the MPL debut of Nepharim youngster Valentine Milner, starting in place of Andre Lokomarav who was sent off against Polaaberg. Milner had an impressive game opposite veteran Martin Hoover, and between them they locked Highale out of the box entirely, allowing the wingbacks to push far forward and add to the attack. The pinnacle of this arrangement came at thirty-three, when Karyl Bayne opened her account for this season with a powerful shot from twenty meters out that just clipped the inside of the top-left corner to deflect in.

The strikers were excellent as always against Highale, though Rieglberg looked a bit gassed as he came off in favor of young Jules Walsh, who impressed with her second MPL goal to spite her critics. Perhaps more significantly, the midfield diamond appears to have clicked, with former defender Lilian Dorsey and Apoxian journeyman Oliver Donovan anchoring the tips while a rotation of skilled and pacy midfielders work on the sides.

The Genua match was more of the same, though Rieglberg looked five years younger as he shook the back of the net twice in the first hour of play. Bayne was able to play forward again, possibly due to a rested and newly determined Lokomarav playing behind her, while newly-minted defensive mid Lilian Dorsey opened her MPL account off a beautiful set piece by Cleveland.

ARSENAL TRIUMPH OVER DYATINSK BARBARIANS IN ADDED TIME, ADVANCE TO MPL CUP QUARTERFINALS

By Malik Qazizadah

Arsenal de Releinthi's Jayson Catacutan slots home a goal after managing to get past the Dyatinsk defense. Arsenal and Dyatinsk managed to hold each other to a 1-1 draw before Arsenal ran away with a 3-1 win in added time. (Courtesy of Crescent News Network Sports Channel/Obadiah Schencker)

DYATINSK, BUYAN - It took Arsenal de Releinthi more than a hundred minutes before they finally found their tempo and beat home side Dyatinsk Barbarians to advance to the quarterfinals of the MPL Cup.

Ex-Arsenal man Zack Tatami, who was bought by Dyatinsk in a mid-season transfer to bolster up their midfield, started in this game against his old club, and he was instrumental in scoring the Barbarians' opening goal in the game, when he made a forward pass to Claudia Catcher, the Buyanese side's other significant signing. Catcher chested the ball down, stepped to the right and then sent the ball out of the reach of Bradford Jones and into the net.

It took more than an hour before Arsenal managed to get a reply. In the 76th minute, Arsenal were given a corner when Sylvester Rellner got in the way of Godzilla's shot and sent it out of bounds. Elliot Edison sent the ball deep into the box from the left corner, and it found the head of Evangelos, who steered it into the back of the net with a nod to keep Arsenal's hopes of winning the MPL Cup alive.

Starting in the first half of added time, both teams upped the ante and began making attacks into their opponents' boxes. Dyatinsk came close to taking the lead once again when Jan Ragowicz's attempt struck the crossbar with such force that it left behind a small dent. But despite this, it would be Arsenal who would get the next goal. Jayson Catacutan, who was substituted in for the flagging Godzilla, received a ground cross from Oleg Mostovoi and then used his left foot to redirect it towards goal. The Dyatinsk keeper stretched all he could to reach the ball, but it was just too far away from his fingertips, and Arsenal now had the advantage.

With the lead, Arsenal now stepped back to absorb the pressure from Dyatinsk. A heartstopping moment came in the 110th minute, when Dan Gelson managed to get away from his marker and struck a shot towards Bradford Jones. Jones parried it away, but it landed right at the feet of the ex-Arsenal man himself, Zack Tatami, who hoofed the ball back to the net. Unfortunately his shot had too much curve, and it bounced off the post before being cleared away by Jaggi Vasudev.

Then a surprise came in the dying minutes of added time. Arsenal were in control of the ball, passing it around while waiting for the referee to blow his whistle. Evangelos decided to hoof the ball right up the pitch towards the Dyatinsk goal. Brendan Meeks, the American youngster whom Godric Wexler saw fit to bring in to the side, went one-on-one against the Dyatinsk keeper. Meeks toe-poked the ball to the keeper's left and then once he had left behind the keeper in the dust he hoofed the ball into the empty net.

With the win over Dyatinsk, Arsenal moved to the quarterfinals of the MPL Cup, where they were drawn against Mesillano side Strangers FC. This coming tie could see Arsenal going up against yet another one of its old players, although for the moment Oliver Vargas is only on loan to Strangers for a full season and has not yet decided to make the move permanent.

GLORIAX - Arsenal de Releinthi completed yet another league double in the Multiverse Conference B as the Gunners smashed Rangers FC on their own turf 6-0.

Godzilla proves his worth once again by scoring a hattrick in this game against the Gloriaxian team, while Gal Tza'eer, Pereirinho, and Selim Tiryaki also got goals of their own.

Godzilla opened up the scoring in just the first 90 seconds of the game when he sent in a screamer from 22 yards out and in an acute angle from the goal. The ball bounced off the keeper's knee before being steered into the back of the net by the post.

Tza'eer added a second goal for the Arsenal when he steered in a free kick from 30 yards that football pundits are already describing as "a perfect free kick, if not the perfect free kick."

Godzilla steered home his second goal of the game following a defensive lapse from the Rangers back four. Seconds later, he took advantage of Rangers' scattered defensive line to bang in his hat trick and become one of the fastest consecutive goals scored in a game with a Fleftic team.

In the second half, Arsenal slowed down a little, but only just a little. Pereirinho, probing the Rangers defense for a gap, saw his opportunity and slotted in his first goal for the club when he saw the keeper out of position.

Selim Tiryaki wrapped things up with an impressive header of his own from a Elliot Edison corner kick.

THEREISNOGODISTAN THRASH COSUMAR'S SPORTING PIRANKOPER TO SECURE MPL CUP QUARTERFINALS TICKET

THEREISNOGODABAD, FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA - Thereisnogodistan FC cruised to a huge 5-1 victory over Cosumar's Sporting Pirankoper to secure advancement to the MPL Cup quarterfinals.

A brace from Hugo Willmore and goals from Olen Celis, Tanner Keener and Feofilakt Demetri gave Thereisnogodistan victory in this game, which also saw the first team debut of Swordean wunderkind Harold Harrison, whom Danny Rhombus acquired from Swordean side That Team the Owner Supports for the princely sum of NS$500,000. Harrison started in place of the injured-in-training Samwell Crownover, who was himself playing for the out-of-favor Wally Arredondo, who not only had gotten two red cards in six games but was also caught smoking cigarettes in the shower during and after games and training sessions.

Tanner Keener opened up the scoring for Thereisnogodistan with a volley from the D that had just enough curve to fly away from the keeper before steering itself into the back of the net.

Hugo Willmore got in on the goalscoring action with a screamer that bounced off the crossbar before going into the goal.

In the second half, Olen Celis received a cross from Zack Ervin and steered the ball in with a twist of his head. Pirankoper finally managed to pull a goal back with a clever effort from Kastor Uvanov, who did a fake shot to fool both the young Harrison and Paul Malachi before steering the ball into an open goal.

But Thereisnogodistan proved too much for Pirankoper to handle, as Willmore scored his second of the game courtesy of a header from an Olen Celis corner just before he was to be substituted.

Even Willmore's substitute Feofilakt Demetri couldn't help but add his name to the goalscorer's tally. He was brought down inside the box by Pirankoper defender Driss Sladen, which resulted in a penalty for Thereisnogodistan. Demetri steered the ball right into the middle of the net, and the keeper made the mistake of jumping to the right in an ill-fated attempt to save the penalty.

This victory over Sporting Pirankoper saw Thereisnogodistan advance to the MPL Cup quarterfinals, where they were drawn with fellow Premiership side Raedburg, which is still aiming to get into the race for the Premier League trophy.

THEREISNOGODISTAN FC TRIUMPHS OVER SC UNITED AND METROPOLITAN 2-0
By Malik Qazizadah

THEREISNOGODABAD, FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA - Thereisnogodistan FC finally managed to beat SC United and Metropolitan, and it was also a quite comfortable victory at 2-0 to the Atheists.

Richard Dawkins Park played host to the Vakolicci side, who were used to playing in front of massive 250,000-strong crowds, and there was the feeling that they weren't quite used to playing in such small venues like Richard Dawkins Park.

United and Metropolitan started off strong in the first half, with winger Blacksen Domination combining with forward Demit Cronan to challenge young Samwell Crownover, who was starting in place of Wally Arredondo after the latter was suspended following yet another red card gained in the last game against Santa Barbara Storm. Cronan struck a strong shot that looked too strong to save, but Crownover showed his mettle and parried it up and above the bar, showing why he was chosen as the new starting goalkeeper for the Abanhfleft U21s in the Di Bradini Cup in Equestrian States.

Thereisnogodistan also got attempts on the United and Metrolopolitan goal with Hugo Willmore receiving the cross from Olen Celis to head in the ball, but it was an easy catch for Mickie Roper.

In the second half, sensing United and Metropolitan going on the offensive, Thereisnogodistan went to defensive possession football with a bit of counterattacking. The defense and the midfield sat back to absorb the pressure from United and Metropolitan, while the forward players also got back to help on defense when needed but were usually also probing the opponents' defense.

Thereisnogodistan were finally rewarded with a goal when Joey Renniger managed to tackle the ball away from Ilja Pronin and then passed it up the field. Karimabdul Dimaintindihan, who was substituted for Rob Rockmore just minutes earlier, caught up with the ball and smashed it to goal with his first touch. The ball rocketed past the keeper before sliding nicely into the corner of the net.

Thereisnogodistan's second goal came about in just a similar manner. Edwardo Carasco dispossessed Demit Cronan and hoofed it upfield once again. This time it was substitute striker Raymon Parisien who caught the ball, sidestepped the United and Metropolitan keeper, and then struck the ball in the net.

United and Metropolitan got a chance to get a goal back when Pronin was brought down inside the box by Renniger, which got him a yellow and a penalty for the visitors. Blacksen Domination took the penalty and smashed it straight at the middle, but Crownover braved the ball and caught it with his hands. It would be the last clear chance that United and Metropolitan would get in this game.

With the win, Thereisnogodistan move back to fourth place on the table. With 11 points separating the Atheists from Schottia's Cornellians FC, a title challenge is now out of the window, but Danny Rhombus is now hoping for at least a top four finish.

THEREISNOGODISTAN CONTINUE WINNING WAYS WITH AWAY VICTORY AGAINST SANTA BARBARA STORM

(Courtesy of Crescent News Network Sports Channel/Ferris Olegovski)

SUPER-LLAMALAND - A hard-fought and quite physical first half gave way to an easier second half that finally saw Thereisnogodistan FC triumph over Super-Llamaland's Santa Barbara Storm.

Santa Barbara struck early and struck first, and their forward gave them the lead just 8 minutes in. Their winger followed up with a second goal after he received the cross from his fellow winger and headed it in past Wally Arredondo. Arredondo had come out to punch the ball away, but his fist made contact with a player instead of the ball. The referee decided that Arredondo might start on his antics once again and immediately gave him a red card.

But despite being a man down, Thereisnogodistan quickly gained the lost ground with goals from Zack Ervin and Rob Rockmore, and the two teams entered half-time level at 2-2.

In the second half, Thereisnogodistan looked hungry for at least one more goal, and they got it from Raymon Parisien's excellent effort. Then quite suddenly Thereisnogodistan found themselves up by 2 goals when Jeremy Trias headed in a Zack Ervin corner.

Alstagruuket Sarlaccs FC 0–2 Cornellians
Stade de Metouran
Goals: 12" Purinton, 72" Lowe (Cornellians)

It was business as usual for Cornellians as they took the trip to the Nuur Colony to face mid-table side Sarlaccs. One goal in either half, from Eloisa Purinton and Santiago Lowe, were enough to keep the Schottic side firmly at the top of the table.

This was one of those games where the Eagles took control early on, a 12 minute goal from Purinton easing any pre-match nerves. The Gloriaxian has been on a fine run of form and showed great skill to turn in Dan Cleopas' pass from a tight angle. Although it was a good goal from the vice-captain, Basir Jurabishian will have been bitterly disappointed to have been beaten at his near post.

The Eagles weren't able to secure the win however, until the 72nd minute when Cosmin Dobrescu got the better of Amir Aksoy, sweeping a cross deep into the box. Luckily Santiago Lowe was lurking at the back post to score, capping of a good performance for the man from Ceti.

Line up: McNott 7, Lowe 8, Pearce 7(56 Ramsey 7), Burton 7, Pabadakis 7 Dennis 7, Dobrescu 7, Kelman 7, Narita 7, (80 Carus 6), Cleopas 7 (70 Bhosz 6), Purinton 8

Man of the match: Lowe. The Adiran player took his goal well, his stamina was endless as he rampaged up and down the right flank.

Cornellians 1-1 Santa Barbara Storm
Lochend, Greater Handon
Goals: 40" Dennis (Cornellians)
67" Buton o.g. (SBS)

With the MPL beginning to throw up more than a few shock results, it was Cornellians chance to feel the sting. A second half Scott Burton own-goal, cancelled out Jeff Dennis' strike just before half time, as the Eagles failed to dispose of Santa Barbara Storm.

The home side had been frustrated time and time again in the open half, as Storm stood firm. The deadlock wasn't broken until a cunning pass from Kirisakian teenager Narita found a gap in the visitors' defence. First to pounce on the ball was Mesillan winger Dennis, who turned in his second goal of the season.

It was to be disappointment in the end however, as Storm found the all-important equaliser. A pass from the edge of the box seemed to miss everyone, and clipped of the heel of Scott Burton as he walked away from goal. Jeremy McNott could only look on helplessly as the ball spun in past him to give the opposition a share of the points.

Line up: McNott 7, Lowe 6, Pearce 7, Burton 5, Pabadakis 6, Dennis 6 (69 McIntyre 7), Dobrescu 7, Kelman 6 (89 Keirut 2), Narita 7, Cleopas 6 (70 Bhosz 4 ), Purinton 7

Man of the match: Pearce. Not a performance which will go down in the history books, but the best Cornellians player on the day.

Cornellians 2-1 Alstagruuket Sarlaccs FC
Lochend, Greater Handon
Goals: 88" 102" Purinton (Cornellians)
20" Ventura. (Sarlaccs)

Jock Sonny went with his old tactic of giving one or two players a chance in the cup games. This perhaps wasn't the wisest thing to do against another MPL side and it nearly cost him the match.

Nepharim wing-back Triffid Ramsey looked good, making her second start for the club, and seemed to settle into the game well. However, she was helpless to do anything to stop Cornellians going behind to a 18 meter Ventura strike on the 20 minute mark.

The Eagles threw everything at the game in a bid to get back level, and it wasn't until the 88th minute when Purinton found the net. A nice pass from Willie McIntyre caught the defence exhausted and the 21-year-old was able to score her second goal in two games against the Cosumarite team.

Purinton also scored the goal which salvaged the win, ten minutes into extra time. This time Ramsey found Carus, who hammered the ball long trying to find the head of one of the strikers. It was once again the Gloriaxian who got on the end of it. Lofting the ball over the head of Jurabishian, to set up a quarterfinal match with Pogon Miedzyzdroje

Line up: Muller 7, Lowe 7, Ramey 8, Burton 7, Pabadakis 6, Hanalii 7 (45 McIntyre 7), Richard 7, Kelman 6 (89 Keirut 2), Carus 7, Cleopas 6 (45 Bhosz 6 ), Purinton 8

Man of the match: Purinton. Had it not been for her Purinton's late winner there would have been a temptation to give the award to Ramsey for her best performance in so far in white and green.

An 87th minute winner saw the Dragons cruise to victory against Pays d’en Haut side AS Blainville last time out as Raedburg bounced back from a 2-2 tie, but the away fixture was nothing compared to the first meeting as a brace from Ricardo Rubin and plenty of fantastic saves from Dako Zienen won the National Soccer League champions every one of the 3 points from the win.

The visitors opened the match in fantastic style following a flow of possession as Teremultese winger Ricardo Rubin swiftly glided past the Blainville defense to put Raedburg a goal up after twelve minutes, before coolly placing the ball round the goalkeeper into the corner of the net. An effort from Lewis Gill to double the lead was saved by Simon Gauthier before François Rodrigue was denied by Dako Zienen at the other end as the 27-year-old acrobatically dived to protect the ball.

Jaden Araadel was brought down just outside Blainville’s 18-yard box following a poor tackle from Samuel Fortin with the 28-year-old being cautioned by the referee. The subsequent free-kick was taken by Lewis Gill who swung the ball into the box to the far post and defensive midfielder Dirk Kais was on target to give Raedburg a 2-0 lead before the break as his fantastic headed effort beat Gauthier and rocketed into the back of the net.

Both sides played attacking football for the majority of the second half but Blainville were the side who prevailed after 30 minutes as Alexandre Lamoureux grabbed a goal for the home side to bring them back into the game. The hosts continued to push for an equalizer for the remainder of the game but Rubin scored his second of the game following through ball play with Lewis Gill - who also grabbed his second assist of the game. A later effort saw Gill increase the lead to 4-1 as he struck an outstanding effort and beat Gauthier with ease.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Ricardo Rubin - For a fantastic return from injury to score a double.

Dako Redfield picked a slightly weaker side to face AS Blainville for the second time in a few days in an Multiverse Premier League Cup outing with Adriel Navas starting in goal for only the thirteenth time in his career with the club. Luiz Alexis and Kale Kazern played as the side backs with Altova Danta and Fernando Gomez in the middle. The midfield consisted of Mario Guzen and Marco Reus playing in the center with Reuben Pazhkelazo and Dzuke on either wing. Adrian Klurse and Dako played upfront.

It was a tough game and the relatively young side found it difficult to beat the Blainville goalkeeper, and the opposition tested Adriel Navas very often throughout the first half. In the 75th minute 20-year-old Dzuke made a break down the right before switching the ball across to Pazhkelazo who played a cross into the box. Dako latched onto the ball with his foot to tap it across in the path of Reus, but the Avantian showed his assisting side as he played a simple pass to Adrian Klurse, and the 19-year-old blasted the ball into the inside roof of the net to lead Raedburg onto the Quarter Finals.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Marco Reus - His unselfish side created plenty of goal scoring opportunities and the winner was scored from one of his assists.

A hard fought win over the league leaders in Miedzyzdroje put Christian Countess' side back on track for a shot at promotion -- a placing many predicted Dynapolis would challenge for at the start of the season -- and showed that talismanic playmaker Kayode Afolayan's contribution to this team is invaluable. "No idea why he's not been called up [for the national team] yet," Countess remarked post-match. "He's been superb since he came back from that injury." The Dynapolis gaffer highlighted the fact that while Andrea Poynter and Sergio Mora have both performed admirably in the red shirts of the national team, neither has rivalled the now-retired-from-international-football Toby Drummond's creative influence. "With Drummond gone, a guy like Kayode can step up. He's very similar, he finds the passes, makes the runs, galvanises the team. He can do it all. If he keeps this up, I don't think the manager can keep overlooking him."

Countess' effusive praise will be welcome to Afolayan's ears, though at twenty-six years of age, the midfielder from Camaron might feel as though he's perhaps missed his chance. "It's difficult to break into a national team at my age, I think. Especially one as strong as ours." Afolayan admitted. "I look at the competition and I know it would be a hard choice to pick me ahead of someone like Andrea Poynter or Sergio Mora. Lucio Lazzarani is another very talented player in this role." The four players are actually quite different in their approach to the role filled by the player at the forward-most point of the midfield triangle in Lewis' "Osarian 4-3-3" and under certain circumstances, it's easy to argue for one of the existing three names over the other two. Afolayan's value is similar to Drummond's in that he can legitimately play the role in any of those ways. Osarius Sport Network analyst Roberto Cormega suggested that the Dynapolis midfielder's versatility might appeal to Lewis. "One of the main reasons that Drummond earned so many caps for Osarius under Jermain Lewis is obviously his sheer quality. However, he could also fit into any interpretation of that 4-3-3 system Lewis likes, meaning there was never a reason not to select him. Kayode Afolayan is starting to show signs that he could be a similar kind of player." Cormega explained. He went on, however, to point out that the level of football being played by Dynapolis might not really measure up to that of other leagues, where his rivals ply their trade.

If there is a way to cement the notion that Dynapolis United -- and by extension, Afolayan -- plays to a high enough level to see their players back in contention for international selection, it would be to win a trophy. With Dynapolis very much in the hunt for the Championship title, one could be forgiven for expecting Countess to focus entirely on the league. Countess would disagree. "We have a shot at taking the cup, I think. We'd be silly not to try, there is a strong tradition of Dynapolis performing strongly in cup competitions, even just since I've been involved with the club." The former Balida international told us. He was a part of the unfortunate Dynapolis side featuring former Osarius striker Rudy Atkinson, that fell just short of winning the Balida Cup decades ago, while simultaneously missing out on the league championship, and still bears the mental scars. "I think it's important, not just for the fans but for the players themselves, to give everything they have. I don't want any of my guys to look back in twenty years' time with regrets. It's not how this is supposed to go."

A convincing three goal win over The Team The Owner Supports in the round of sixteen of the cup sees Dynapolis into the last eight, where they will face Badtunna Rovers. While reluctant to outright admit that he expects a win, Countess hinted at his belief that the Dragons should be strong enough to see off the mid-table Conference side. "Badtunna are strong defensively, like us, so it'll be interesting. I think it might come down to who can conjure up a bit of magic in the end, and we have a magician or two in our squad." Countess said. "I'm trying not to think too far ahead though, we're not looking at the cup just yet. We have league business to attend to, first. We have to keep the pressure on Miedzyzdroje, and show them we mean business. I'm told Tony [King] will be available for first team football again soon, he's been working out well and should get a little run out with the development squad tonight. We'll assess him later and if we can get him back into the team that would be a big boost for us. He's such a big player leading the line for us, literally."

Next up for the Dragons is a visit from 1860 Azoth. The last encounter between the two teams ended in a 1-0 victory for the Osarian side, in Ceni, and was the beginning of an eight game streak of clean sheets for Bartolo Monteforte and his defence. "It's going to be tougher for them coming here," Monteforte remarked. "We know what to expect, and we want to keep that league clean sheet run going. We haven't asked about records or anything, we just want to keep it up as long as possible. That won't change against Azoth."

ARSENAL CONTINUES DOMINATION OF CONFERENCE B, DEMOLISHES BANIJA'S WARRIORS FC 5-1

By Malik Qazizadah

KLIPHOUT, VAN VORFONTEIN, BANIJA - Abanhfleft's Arsenal de Releinthi continued their stunning run of form by scoring five times against Banija's Warriors FC, only letting slip past a single goal from the hosts.

Jefferson Samonte opened up the scoring in the 16th minute, when he nodded in the ball from an Elliot Edison cross. Seven minutes later, Arsenal doubled their lead when Gal Tza'eer managed to break away from his defender and slotted the ball home. Tza'eer got a second goal just three minutes later, toe-poking home the rebound from an effort from Godzilla that was saved by the keeper.

Things almost didn't start as well in the second half when one of the warriors forwards got lucky by outmuscling Evangelos and chipping the ball over Bradford Jones, but after that goal, the game became an Arsenal show once again. Oleg Mostovoi had a clear shot at goal in the 70th minute and was able to take full advantage of his position, sending out a screamer that the Warriors keeper had no hope in hell in saving.

The cake was iced in the 86th minute when Zar Mihailovic banged in a penalty that Arsenal received after Selim Tiryaki was brought down inside the box by a Warriors center back.

Arsenal now have a six-point lead at the top of the table, with nearest challengers Alliez FC below them on 31 points as opposed to Arsenal's 37 points. Barring a sudden drop in form, Arsenal look set to gaining promotion from the Conference in its first season in the MPL alone.

ARSENAL DESTROYS GINGHARIAN FC 6-1 AT MONSANTO; MANAGEMENT PLEASED WITH PROGRESS THROUGH CONFERENCE
By Malik Qazizadah

RELEINTHI, ABANHFLEFT - Arsenal de Releinthi were unstoppable against a Gingharian FC side that simply weren't allowed to perform, but a lucky play saw them slip a consolation goal past Arsenal keeper Bradford Jones.

Arsenal brought the pain on early with Godzilla and Gal Tza'eer combining to produce four goals just in the first half. Godzilla's first goal was a brilliant shot that had just enough curve to look like it was going past the wrong side of the post before turning back and slipping between the Gingharian keeper's outstretched hand and the post. Tza'eer scored his first through a 33-yard free kick as his shot cleared the wall and struck the underside of the bar before going into the back of the net.

Tza'eer was the first to get the brace when his knee made contact with Elliot Edison's cross to send the ball into the goal by the near post. Godzilla followed up with a shot of his own which came from a pass from David Osisek, who chipped the ball above the defenders for Godzilla to receive and shoot at goal.

In the second half, the game became a bit slow as Gingharian attempted to park the bus following the four-goal onslaught back in the first half. But it proved to be as effective a defense as what they were doing before as Selim Tiryaki managed to get through the four-man defensive line and sending the ball to the far post, where it bounced into the net.

Temuera Cholmondeley topped off the game with an impressive screamer from 35 yards away that went through the legs of at least three opposing players, including the goalkeeper, for what has to be one of the best goals of the season.

Yet Bradford Jones wouldn't be able to keep the clean sheet, because Gingharian managed to get a corner and one of their defenders managed to jump above everyone else to head the ball into the net.

THEREISNOGODISTAN EARN COMFORTABLE VICTORY OVER SC POLAABERG WITH 3-0 WIN

THEREISNOGODABAD, FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA - Thereisnogodistan continued to fight for a good table finish in the Multiverse Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Polaaskan's SC Polaaberg, although in the first thirty minutes of the match, victory didn't look that assured for the home side.

Play in the first thirty minutes of the match was quite calm and mostly possession football, with Thereisnogodistan seemingly having lost the aggressive spirit that they showed against some big clubs such as Cornellians, Raedburg, and more recently Strangers. It was only sometime in the 35th minute that Thereisnogodistan finally mounted an actual attack against the Polaaberg goal, but their efforts would be denied until at least past the 40-minute mark, when Feofilakt Demetri, playing for the injured Hugo Willmore, finally got through the Polaaberg defense and hoofed a strike at goal, which the keeper failed to save, but only by just a millimeter or two.

When the second half came, the game looked more in the hands of the Atheists. Tanner Keener had a straight shot at goal that he didn't hesitate to take, resulting in Thereisnogodistan doubling their lead. Finally, substitute Raymon Parisien banged home a third goal to seal victory for the Atheists.

This victory all but seals fourth place for Thereisnogodistan. Barring losses or draws in the future, fourth place is Thereisnogodistan's to lose. On a related note, Thereisnogodistan's Samwell Crownover has been called up to the Fleftic Under-21s participating in the Di Bradini Cup in the Equestrian States.

THEREISNOGODISTAN PLAY AGGRESSIVE AGAINST STRANGERS, STEAL 3 POINTS FROM TITLE CONTENDERS
By Malik Qazizadah

VENTA DE LA MESILLA - The very aggressive spirit that had seemingly infected Thereisnogodistan during their games against Cornellians and Raedburg seemed to have struck back with a vengeance when Thereisnogodistan traveled to the Strange Republic of Venta de la Mesilla to play against the country's marquee MPL side Strangers FC. Thereisnogodistan were hoping even for just a draw, while Strangers were looking to win every game they could on their way to title contention.

The mayhem began as always in the first half, when Feofilakt Demetri, who was starting in place of Hugo Willmore who had been reportedly sidelined by a training injury, kicked the back of the knees of fellow Estenian Andre Lokomarav. The referee judged that there was an intention to hurt on Demetri's part, and he was duly booked. Just a few minutes later, Thereisnogodistan's Joey Renniger committed a tackle against Karyl Bayne. And it wasn't just any tackle; it was a gridiron football tackle that wouldn't be out of place in the FNLAF, but was certainly an unexpected sight in an MPL game. Renniger was duly sent off, and a penalty given to Strangers. Buyanese striker Gottlieb Rieglberg was sent to take the penalty, but he hoofed his shot miles wide of the target. It was a mistake that would cost the Mesillano side dearly.

Thereisnogodistan wasn't done with the aggression, however. This time they targeted the midfielders and the forwards, and their foremost targets were Apoxian Oliver Donovan and Buyanese Gottlieb Rieglberg. Strangely, none of the Thereisnogodistan players were going after Mesillano players, instead singling out the foreigners on the team. Donovan received a knee to the back while Strangers were defending from a Thereisnogodistan corner, with the offending player Paul Malachi receiving a yellow card for his actions. In the second half, Olen Celis sent his right foot right at Rieglberg's chest. Celis claimed that he was merely trying to control an incoming pass and that Rieglberg unfortunately got in the way, but instant replays later showed that the ball wasn't even in the air when Celis made his kick, and he was duly sent off as well. It seemed that two men down, Thereisnogodistan would have no choice but to collapse under Strangers pressure.

But it wasn't to be. Christian Cleveland, who took the penalty in place of the still-recovering Rieglberg, struck the penalty to the far right, but Wally Arredondo was just equal to the effort. Eventually, after that penalty, Thereisnogodistan seemed to calm down and lose their aggression, and the second half looked to be settled into a goalless draw.

But things weren't quite over yet. Thereisnogodistan got a free kick at 29 yards in the 80th minute. Karimabdul Dimaintindihan took the free kick. The shot zoomed past the wall and into the side of the net that the keeper had left undefended, and the ball went into the back of the net.

The unforgivable penalty converted by Alexis Sanchez in the National Cup final at the weekend saw Mortoge lift the trophy, after an arguably undeserved 1-0 victory over Dako Redfield’s Raedburg. The 57-year-old former club captain had hopes of a treble in his second season in charge after claiming the League Cup and league title earlier in the season. You could say a place in the Champions League final against Avantian giants Bayern Munich was enough to make up for the loss of domestic silverware, but you could argue that the Dragons’ thrilling encounter at Santa Barbra Storm in the MPL was far better.

It would be impossible to criticize any player who was on the field as Raedburg fired eight goals past Santa Barbra to secure a well deserved three points, and a hop up to second place in the Premier League following Strangers’ defeat to fourth-placed Thereisnogodistan FC. Wingers Rubin and Pazhkelazo were on fire as they netted a goal each and grabbed three assists apiece, while striker Lewis Gill hit four into Storm, adding to a goal from Dzuke and a header from Thiago Silva.

The Zitran champions found the lead after just two minutes as Rubin sped down the right and whipped a cross into Dzuke, who volleyed the ball past the Santa Barbra stopper - the youngster’s first goal in four months for the first team. And Storm could only hold onto possession for a mere minute as a second effort from the 19-year-old whistled past the post. A few minutes later, Gill skipped past the home side’s defense and chipped the goalkeeper to double the visitors’ lead after just ten minutes. And they wouldn’t stop there.

An attempt from the hosts in the twenty-fourth minute was effortlessly saved by Dako Zienen, and the 27-year-old sparked another attack down the wing. This time it was Pazhkelazo’s turn. The Zitran was able to outmaneuver Storm’s left winger and left back before cutting into the middle and firing home to give his club a 3-0 lead.

In the last few seconds of stoppage time in the first half, Raedburg won a corner after the Santa Barbra goalkeeper parried away Gill’s strike. Reuben Pazhkelazo stepped up and whipped the ball into the middle of the box, with Brazilian skipper Silva converting a subsequent header without any troubles and allowing the Dragons to take a 4-0 lead going into the second half.

After a twenty minute drought of action, Rubin picked out Gill in space, setting up the striker’s second goal of the game as Raedburg increased the lead to five. The game began to flow perfectly for Redfield’s side as three outstanding goals were scored in just fifteen minutes. The 2013-14 NSL assist leader, Ricardo Rubin, was through on goal in the 77th minute and was able to chip Storm’s keeper for the sixth goal of the game, and lived up to his name in assists as he set up Gill’s hat-trick with a fabulous over-the-top through ball as the 23-year-old volleyed the ball into the top corner.

When you concede seven goals in one game without consolation, it’s perhaps the worst feeling in football, but Santa Barbra Storm had their day worsened as the center-back saw red and a penalty was awarded to the visitors. Lewis Gill converted the spot kick and claimed his fourth - and Raedburg’s eighth - goal of the game, as well as picking up the Destiny Airlines Man of the Match award and the match ball.

RAEDBURG, SACARPA - A home fixture against SC United and Metropolitan, old opponents as Raedburg emerged victorious from their group in the inaugural season of the Multiverse Premier League, gave manager Dako Redfield a fine chance to test some of his youth talent as well as other signings who hadn’t been first choice picks for the unstoppable first team squad. Nakyrozian international and FC Barcelona legend Victor Valdes saw his first chance to shine between the sticks for his new club after signing following Nakyrozia’s unfortunate 2014 Regional Cup campaign.

The home crowd were eager for another net-busting performance from their club, and rightly so, but hopes were killed as United and Metropolitan dominated possession for most of the first half. The only chances of the game came when United and Metropolitan’s star striker was played through by Miralim Tardenic, but Blacksen Domination’s powerful effort was tipped to safety by Zienen; then Marco Reus fired a shot straight into Mickie Roper at the other end, but the 39-year-old goalkeeper held onto the ball as the first half ended goalless.

The only goal of the game was scored by 32-year-old Zitran international legend Dako, the former Raedburg youth star latching onto a pass from Mario Guzen and firing home from 30 yards to give his boyhood club the lead after various attempts on target. The striker had two other chances to score, but Roper made a fantastic save to deny Dako his second goal and another was cleared up the park by center back John Harden before Raedburg could pounce.

It appeared that Zienen had found an outstanding run of form as he denied attempts from Blacksen Domination, John O’Hare and Ilja Pronin during the last ten minutes of the second half to ensure the Dragons kept a clean sheet as the match ended 1-0. Despite the disappointing scoreline compared to the Santa Barbra match, Redfield was pleased with his team’s performance and gave midfielder Mario Guzen particular praise for his fantastic assist to Dako’s goal.

Man of the Match: Dako Zienen - For an outstanding number of saves to keep a clean sheet

Redfield disappointed with Cup result

RAEDBURG, SACARPA - Referee Jakob Velaak gave a controversial penalty in the last minute of extra-time which allowed Mortoge to lift the National Cup after a 1-0 victory. Kale Kazern was said to have brought down Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez inside the box, but replays have shown that the 25-year-old made a great challenge, winning the ball with his attempt, and that the offence was outside of the box. Manager Dako Redfield was interviewed after the fixture:

“I am extremely disappointed to have lost out on winning the National Cup due to an official’s mistake. Kale [Kazern] is a fantastic defender and his challenge was very well-timed. The boys played outstanding during the match, and I’m sure the supporters of this club will acknowledge that they did their very best. Mortoge defended well and we expected to lead them onto penalties, but an unfortunate decision went the way of Sanchez and our opponents have claimed the glory over us.”

"I thought we were boring," Christian Countess remarked, tongue-in-cheek, to gathered reporters following Dynapolis United's stunning seven goal victory over Ereazor 99 yesterday. After weeks of his side playing conservatively and struggling offensively in the absence of key attackers, Countess' unwavering faith in the Dragons has been rewarded. The return of Aquilliano striker Anthony King to the starting lineup marked a change in approach for Dynapolis, as they returned to their familiar, double wing attack.

"We're a different side when Tony [King] can lead the line." Countess said. "He's just so difficult to defend against. We can put it in the air for him and send bodies up to support him, we can slip it in behind and let him charge through, or we can play through Kayode [Afolayan] in the middle while Tony keeps the centre backs occupied. He's a key player for us, and we've really missed him."

Putting aside the face that Ereazor haven't exactly lit the league up this season, and were on the wrong end of a 4-0 result the last time these two teams met, they also held the Dragons to a goalless draw in the Dragonpit earlier this season. This time around, Dynapolis were ruthless, and certainly looked stronger going forward than they have in past weeks. King, on his return to the first team, scored once and earned credit for two assists in his sixty-three minutes on the pitch, prompting teammates to pay tribute. "You can always rely on Tony. He almost never loses the ball." Talismanic playmaker Kayode Afolayan -- who ended the game with a goal of his own and three assists -- told us. "He's just so big, you know?"

Dynapolis captain Emilio Tapia was a surprise beneficiary of King's return, turning in a performance that had pundits remembering why he was tipped for greatness in the Osarius national team not too long ago. "Yeah, knowing I was unlikely to get caught out of position helped." Tapia explained. "When you play Tony in, he's better at keeping the ball, so when I make that run forward, I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder just in case."

Oracle's stats show that Tapia did indeed make more forward sprints against Ereazor than he has since before King's injury earlier this season, and the captain's role as a dynamic, box-to-box midfielder clearly relies on this freedom. Behind him, Zoe Barnes created two goals from her deep-lying playmaker role, dictating the tempo of the game. "It's been a while since I had that many options." She laughed.

Countess' side now sit atop the Championship, two points clear of Miedzyzdroje, with five games remaining. "It'll be tough to hold on to this lead," Countess admitted. "Miedzyzdroje are strong, we know this. We can't afford to lose focus now, and I'm just hoping we can stay fit and see this out."

When asked whether he felt Dynapolis' progress in the cup could be a fatal distraction, Countess laughed. "Of course not! If anything it's the opposite. You do well in the cup, you gain confidence, you play better. This is how it works, I know my guys. They want both league and cup, and I think it'd be hard to argue we're not in with a chance."

Dynapolis' swashbuckling display underlines just how potent a team Metis have built, and the buzz is back in the southern region, with fans snapping up tickets to the Dragonpit rapidly ahead of the clash with Equestria HC. "We're happy with performances, and have every faith that Christian can get the best out of the team." A Metis spokesperson told us. "This notion that the board is disappointed, because the team's performances haven't been entertaining enough is ludicrous. The only way this would be a concern for the board, is if it affected profit margins significantly in the negative, which is hasn't, because who doesn't enjoy seeing their team win?" That kind of logic is hard to argue with, as the crowds at the Dragonpit have not shrunk considerably during this period of "Dour Dragons" football.

The impressive performances of the team -- in the cup quarter finals; just one defeat, and four goals conceded across thirteen games so far in the league -- have the board allegedly plotting further improvements ahead of an expected promotion to the Premier League next season. "We can't comment on that." Our spokesperson told us. "The board are focusing primarily on the present, there are still fifteen points up for grabs and Christian and as it stands, the team will need fourteen of those to win the league. Planning for the Premier League now would be extremely presumptuous, and it is not in the nature of Metis plc to make such wild speculations. The company makes its money from wise predictions, after all."

Individual Play Highlighted
If nothing else, the current MPL atmosphere established Anthony Vonoss as a star. The offense is built so Sven Laws and Mark Yerberg feed the striker, and feed the striker, they do. Several hat tricks and a few multi-goal games add up to a total of 14 out of Emeros FC's 29 goals.

How did he rack up more goals than most teams in Conference B? Assists. Good Passing. Jon Lefisse, the Wrexish center midfielder totaled 10 assists. "I've got the timing down." Lefisse said in a recent interview. "My cross has been catching some guys, Sven and Vonoss especially, right on side. And that focus is what's led to Anthony Vonoss becoming one of the big stars of this MPL season."

Defense also has played a part in the run. Emeros FC has only given up 12 goals, a direct result of the d-line's fast, powerful clearances. Fredrikssen has been an absolute monster in the center. His tackles have been quick, accurate and right on time. Many teams have had trouble scoring against him.

Only Arsenal has given up fewer goals with 11. Not only has Vonoss been given praise for his individual play. Many of his teammates have had good seasons statistically.

With such a good scoring ratio, the goalie must also be praised. Time and time again, he has been tested and Hans Yonson has proven to be up there with the best of them.

Of course, coach Tim Tomasson has been asked about trades and loans. "I would love for someone like Vonoss to experience a 1 year loan to a Premier League team. But I like it even more when he's on my roster."

It has been a strong first showing for Emeros FC as they have been one of the better Vannish teams in awhile.

"Functioning as a unit is what has gotten us as far as we have made it so far. Defense clears to the midfield, the midfield sets up a cross to a stryker or winger and as long as everyone acts in the same way with intensity, good things will happen. It's like every player thinks of themselves as a cog in a machine", Coach Tomasson continued.

Emeros FC has lost their Round of 16 game.

Sorry for the late cut-off. Lately it is hard to get a proper cut-off schedule running due to changes at my job - easily to accumulate as 'more work for the same pay'. Hu'f'ing'zzah.
