Man, that was close against Sheepish.

Still, I think our good ol' Regulars have bounced back admirably from that opening road loss. :p

By the way, we do need to probably go ahead and do the World Bowl President vote. So far as I can tell, we have nominations for Saintland and myself. We tried the TG thing, and it didn't seem to pan out, so any further nominations should be done here, and then we'll do the votes starting this Sunday via TG to the World Bowl account.

Also, my former varsity team is 2-2. Two big wins, followed by two big losses. :(

I see that a couple teams managed to win to stay alive. Abaja being one of them, whom I hope makes it.

Fight through that laziness! You need as many points as possible to be able to pull off the upset!

I love upsets in fact last edition was full of 'em including me dishing them out. I was excited about it and was jumping around in my room each time I pulled off big wins. So entertain me :p

How will my draw against Ficiscia be handled? I ask since it seems like overtime has been enabled for later MDs but wasn't until that matchday and since it affects both the rankings and potentially advancement (depending upon the tiebreakers).

I'm going to announce now that I'm not going to defend the title and that I'm effectively retiring from the World Bowl, in addition to the World Cup(when this cycle is complete).

Have fun guys, I'm interested in seeing who wins this time around since I won't be RPing.

I'm not even going to get into the reasons because there's still a small chance that I might want to come back some day.

You actually have considerable potential to win, even if you weren't to rp further this cycle, so possibly you...

If you're leaving because of something involving other people on NS, I can tell you from experience that you're making a mistake in doing so.

You'll definitely be missed around here and I hope you do decide to come back at some point.

It's other people but it's me too and I already explained it partially on the Esportiva RMB. I don't want to go into it further because like I said, I have a reputation to protect, but this isn't just something I'm doing on an impulse even though it looks that way. If I do come back, it will probably be four or five World Bowls later when I'm unranked and I most likely won't ever come back to the World Cup once this cycle is over.

Well, I have a solution which may *change* the groups a bit, but will get the fairest way for your draw.

I'm going to account all overtime results as draws, therefore removing the issue of your draw affecting your standing.

I apologise profusely to @Abaja.

Also, I will be delaying the playoffs by 1 day, because I cannot who'll be playing who now, so it'll be up on the 29th September, and RO16 will begin on the 30th September.

Playing devil's advocate here: the only thing changing the OT rules does is screw Abaja. West Saintland (sorry, Saintland) doesn't end up making the cut either way. Abaja RP'ed, but Nassau-Hessen hasn't even posted a roster. Ultimately, it's Ethane's decision as host, but maybe just give this one more round of thought, please.

My own personal preference would be for my game against Ficiscia to be rescorinated for the sake of the rankings with overtime enabled but if we're going to have draws in the official results, I'll count them as half a win whenever I do the next rank update.

Abuja wouldn't have qualified anyway even with the OT win. If I'm getting the tiebreak right, they had to beat Greg by 21 points and Nassau had to lose. The latter happened, but not the former.

So my overtime win wasn't counted as an actual win?

@Kaboomlandia, uh, when we won against Nassau in OT in MD 9 we had a +29 point difference..... Nassau had a +48.
In MD 10, we won against gregory 10-14. Doesn't that mean we should have a +33 point difference? Also, Nassau lost to Islana Lunigo 3-29. That's a 26 point difference. 48-26=22. Nassau should be 5-3 and with a +22 point difference. We should be 5-3 with a +33 point difference

But... "Matchday 9: Abaja 0–0 Nassau-Hessen (Abaja 13-7 Nassau-Hessen in OT)" (Abaja is 4-3)
"Matchday 10: Gregoryisgodistan 10–14 Abaja" (Abaja is 4-1-3)???

Also, "Matchday 9: Abaja 0–0 Nassau-Hessen" (Nassau is 5-2)
"Matchday 10: Nassau-Hessen 3–29 Islana Lunigo" (Nassau is 5-1-2)

oh well, i guess we will remain one of the most unluckiest teams in NS Sports xD

The other thing in all of this is that, as far as I can tell, the World Bowl standard (although as far as I can tell, it has never been codified; it's not in the constitution) is to have games with overtime, with IFAF rules (or colloquially, college overtime).

I remember there was a broad consensus on the type of overtime because we had a big debate about it somewhere in the teens about whether or not the World Bowl should have a standard overtime style or not after someone used the NFL-style sudden death (not the new kind, either, the kind where a field goal on the first drive could win), and there were some people who were miffed about it.

On a more RP-related note, I feel like this would be a good time to ask, is there some amount of consensus on how often the World Bowl happens, IC'ly?

Fluid time, and I'm considering the comments that people have made on whether to count the overtime or not.

Expect a decision within a few hours. The tournament will still be delayed by tomorrow, and tiebreakers up tonight, after the decision has been made.

Sorry for this guys.
