Mapletish Ligue Basketball

Reformed and gained enough support from the Mapletish Sports Federation, the usual Big Sixteen will fill the spaces in this Ligue Basketball which will be the national league for basketball and this will give a greater exposure to basketball for the many fans around Mapletish. With the Ligue Basketball, it is likely to have a more structured league after its implementation of this new system.

Mapletish National Basketball Association

Previously known as the Mapletish Ligue Basketball, the MNBA will be filling into replace the Ligue. Just last season, Home United gripped the Ligue with a close 1W over their closest rivals Golden Phoenix. Apart from that Home United also proved to be the ultimate champions in the entire season as they won the Ligue Playoffs by defeating Golden Phoenix once again the best of three finals series. This season, further modifications are made to the league and it was expanded to 32 teams which will be playing from their geographical locations, namely the North, South, East and West divisions. The top 4 teams will eventually play legged elimination rounds to decide the playoff champions.

Rugby Union Premiership

For the first time in the Premiership history, the league is expanded to two divisions with thirty-two teams playing out the season. In the past two seasons, Golden Phoenix and Home United, the two biggest sports clubs in the country have each won one edition of the Premiership title. Mapletish Hockey League Season II

The Mapletish Hockey League will now operate to be the official ice hockey league of Mapletish after the 117th Mapletish Sports Federation Meeting in the MSF Headquarters at Struggait DC, the MHL will also operate together with the Cherries Cup, the oldest ice-hockey trophy in the Mapletish Union, this trophy will be awarded to the league's playoff champion at the end of each season. As of usual, the league will consist of the Big Sixteen, notably the best sixteen sports teams in Mapletish.

Mapletish Major League Baseball Season I

The Mapletish Major League Baseball or MMLB is the pinnacle league for professional baseball in the Mapletish Union. Teams are separated into four divisions based on their geographical locations. The MMLB is composed of thirty-two teams. Four teams from the eight in each divisions advance to a single legged post season tournament that culminates to the Mapletish Series, a best of three championship series.

The Mapletios Cup of Nations is an association football competition for the Mapletios region which is held every WC season (NS-wise) or biennially (M-Alternative Earth). It is organised by the Mapletish Sports Federation which oversees both sports on the Mapletish Union level and the Mapletios regional level.

The eighth Mapletios Cup of Nations was held in the Maridan Islands. The teams played a double round-robin tournament with the team achieving the first place in the overall table as the tournament winner. The eighth Cup of Nations will see Callenham looking to defend their Cup of Nations title after being the overall winners of the previous Cup of Nations by the minimum points rule against Mapletish which featured six sports in the competition. In the association football section, Callenham swept the group undefeated and topped the association football section of the Cup of Nations. Can they replicate their form again?

It is the Cup of Nations once again and what is it this time? It is the historical tenth edition of the Cup of Nations. This edition, the Cup of Nations will be held in Mapletish, the fourth time the tournament will be held there. Yes, they are also the most successful country in the Cup of Nations winning four of the previous nine editions of the Cup of Nations with Callenham and Maridan Islands following closely behind with two trophy wins each. While Danaelia is the least successful with only one trophy win to their name in their miraculous Cup of Nations VI run where they beat Maridan Islands in the playoff match for the 1st place with a confident 3-1 win but struggled in the following Cup of Nations as they finished last in the Association football section and eventually tailed the nations in the overall rankings with only 14 points.

On paper, it is obvious that Danaelia is the weakest team in the Cup of Nations while their Mapletish counter parts are the strongest team. However it is worth noting that Callenham edge Mapletish in the seventh edition of the Cup as they won the trophy on minimum points rule as Mapletish struggled in the basketball section of the Cup as they finished at the tail of the four nations. Even Danaelia did better than them there as they finish closely behind Callenham, their best performance in the entire Cup so far while they finish last in other categories.

It is of course no wonder that the Mapletish side are one of the best sides in the Mapletios region but that cannot be overstated enough because even Danaelia can cause a shake up in the upcoming Cup of Nations, with eighteen points up at stake, Danaelia can overtake current leaders at 84 points provided Mapletish loses all their matches. (Now which gang/mafia leader is willing to fix the competition and give Danaelia what they deserve, a glimpse of life outside of the bottom of the table.) *PS, the previous sentence will self destruct in the following 30 second before anyone sees it*

Expansion of the competition

Other than discussing who's going to win or what, there has also been calls for the expansion of the Cup of Nations. In the previous meeting in the Mapletish Sports Federation among the delegates of the nations or administrative zones of the region, expansion of the Cup of Nations has been the main agenda of the meeting with goal-line technology and having "sin-bins" for player misconduct which are "lesser" deemed to be a bookable offence. If the competition expands, the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Territories will also be included in the competition. This will increase the number of teams in the competition from 4 to 8. Following a vote among the delegates, the expansion was approved with minimal opposition to add onto the competitive level of the Cup of Nations which will also see the teams play more matches. (It's like a duh)

Hernabuba Estadio played host to the curtain riser once again as Home United, the winner of both the Primer League and FA Cup took on second place SC Galatasaray. It was Home United who proved to be the better team in this match as they dominated from start to finish to assert their authority even before the season starts. The afternoon was classified with strong winter winds as temperatures dipped to 6℃ before the match kicked off.

Player #11 confirmed victory for Home United in the second half with a dipping drive from distance which evaded Gala's keeper G-Player #1, who made his first senior appearance for the club. Player #9 started the scoring with a well taken finish in the first half which comfortably beat G-Player #1.

Player #10 then doubled the lead before time, combining with Player #8 before displaying excellent skills to get beyond the tight Gala defence and fire into the bottom corner.

Gala rallied for a brief spell after the break following the introduction of G-Player #12, but Player #11 sealed the win shortly after the hour mark with his deflected effort. "It was all going to be a long afternoon" recalled G-Player #1 in the post match interview after he conceded the second goal of the game just before half time.

Galatasaray was way off from their historical title win in Season X as they failed to replicate that exact form in Season XI, a season where injuries plagued the team all season long which saw them finish runner ups against Home United who led the season and won the title by 16 points.

Home United spotted a make shift midfield of Player #16, Player #17, Player #15 and Player #10 for the curtain riser of the season. It was certainly not the way to go against an eager and enthusiastic Gala side who would want to avenge for their previous season's failure. Gala started the match with a full strength side after key players like G-Player #7 and #8 came back from their injuries. However, Home United found themselves adapting to the cool afternoon better than their Gala counter parts.

Home United dominated the opening exchanges but clear chances evaded them, and it required a last ditch challenge from G-Player #2 to prevent Player #10 from opening the scoring for Home United in the 14th minute. Impatience and poor finishing were what kept Home United from scoring from their opening exchanges.

The Premier League runner ups however did nothing to turn tide against Home United, G-Player #4 was outran by Player #11 among others in the centre of their defence and that kept Home United open to exploit the generous amounts of space in front of Gala's back four.

Player #10 went to the ground after a 21st minute challenge from G-Player #4 but the ball broke to Player #9's path on the edge of the box who controlled the ball onto his left foot to finish clinically.

G-Player #7 dragged wide following Player #9's searching ball in the 25th minute and G-Player #4 lunged to block a drive from Player #17 as Home United continued to crush forward and put the Gala defence to its limit.

Player #16 got himself the perfect debut as he made a timely intervention to deny G-Player #10 from goal on the end of G-Player #7's cross. He doubled up his attacking efforts soon after as he himself crossed an inviting ball on the other end of the pitch and helped Mr Manager's men grabbed a deserved second goal, three minutes before the interval.

One could easily spot Gala's Mr Manager's disappointment as he walked back to the dressing rooms even before the half time was up as he seemed deep in thought and was scribbling away on his notebook. The first half ended with a convincing 2-0 lead for Home United as Home United's Mr Manager ended the half as the happier manager.

Back in the second half, Gala was task-orientated straight from kick-off as Gala's Mr Manager half time talks must have worked the wonders. Gala started the second half fast on the break and were close to getting a goal back against Home United only to see their best efforts timed perfectly in sync with Home United's disciplined defence while Player #1 got down to regular saves afterwards.

Home United then tore Gala's defence once again as Player #10 collected Player #9's pass and jingled his way through the incoming Gala defence before finding himself at the far end of the penalty box. His nerves of steels ensured that he picked up Player #11 at the other end of the box and his tempting cross met Player #11 as he attempted an overhead kick to triple Home United's lead.

G-Player #12 however was the main man for Gala in the interval as he rallied Gala on their front foot only to his crosses and chances wasted through poor positioning and finishing from the Gala front line.

Gala were further beating themselves up as they were awarded a controversial penalty that could help reverse their game in the 78th minute from the corner. Player #5 was man-marking G-Player #10 tightly as he allowed little space for the latter to move. As G-Player #7 got the corner kick going, G-Player #10 shoved Player #5 in the chest who then brought G-Player #10 down with him and tackled him on his way down to the pitch.

Mr Referee pointed to spot straight away and turned the protests from Home United men down. G-Player #7 stepped onto the penalty spot and was up in his regular run up. However he was plain unlucky as his shot went out wide.

Gala were ensured that their luck was running out as Home United dominated the remaining proceedings and sealed the victory in style in 90 minutes, opening up to Home United's title defence campaign confidently.

Mapletish Football League Season XII: Part Two

Season XII will mark the twelfth season of the reformed Mapletish league football. Premier League champions Home United got their perfect start to the season by keeping SC Galatasaray at bay in the pre season curtain riser as they kick off their title defence season. Meanwhile, Moonchester CIty, SC Borussia Dortmund and revamped Feyenood start life in the Premier League. Feyenood started their pre season with a major takeover from SC Las Palmas as Feyenood will now be known. Among others, Barcelona, Queens Park Rangers and Auckland Rovers will spend Season XII in the Championships. In another takeover of the pre-season, Empardo United took over Emirates United as the new owners invested new resources in the rebuilding of Empardo United which were down in debt a few seasons back and also to restore their former Premier League days. Young Tigers, Sau Paluo and New Portland Rovers are also on their way to restore their former Premier League days. New Portland Rovers however are in the most urgent need to reach the top flight as they are the lowest ranked Big 32 sports clubs in Mapletish. Liga Four will be renamed to Conferencio in the new season as they shrink to 20 teams. In another name change to the league, the Premier League is renamed to Primero Liga.

In the kick off to the Primero Liga, six teams kept a cleansheet, a record for the opening day of the top tier. Defending champions wasted no time to bring Primero Liga new boys Pittsburgh with a dominating 4-0 win while Moonchester United were held by newly promoted SC Borussia Dortmund, it was of course a much better result than the 7-0 thumping by Celtics Rovers in Season IX. SC Las Palmas started their life in the Primero Liga by giving River Park a lesson with a heavy 6-0 win to exert their stand in the Liga.

The second match day kicked off with Home United putting SC Borussia Dortmund back to where they belong. Golden Phoenix drowned Catanzaro and chase Home United hot on their heels. Celtics Rovers failed to overcome Struggait United as they succumbed to a controversial penalty which threw their game away. SC Las Palmas maintained one of their better starts to the season as they forced a 3-3 draw against Golden Eagles. One of the Liga old boys Lumburg failed to pick their front foot forward as they went down to a 1-0 loss against Moonchester United.

Golden Phoenix opened the rout with a 8-1 thumping of River Park while Home United taught Moon City the meaning of Primero Liga football with a convincing 6-0 win over them. Gala and Djax caught up with both Home United and Golden Phoenix with victories of their own Gala 2-0 Catanzaro while Djax caught on a narrow win over Club Atletico. It seemed that Celtics Rovers have troubles starting their season as they struggled against Primero Liga new boys SC Busan as they slipped an inch in a 4-2 loss.

Home United continued their cleansheet record to 360 minutes as they gave struggling Bury Town a piece of their mind as they failed to score in any of their starting matches, effectively putting them bottom of the league with Lumburg CV throwing away their two goal lead against Moon City only to slipped through in the second half to a stunning hat trick from Moon City's captain. The Golden rivalry between the Eagles and Phoenix ended with the away team doing away a thumping 7-2 win to keep their title challenge alive. Celtics Rovers failed to recover from their slump as they gave Djax their fourth win of the season together with Gala who both kept their heels close to the top spot.

Heavy investors Moon City failed to make their new signings count as they struggled to find steady form and slipped to a young Struggait United squad.

For the first time in the season, Home United dropped out of the 1st spot as they recorded a close 1-0 win against Catanzaro who troubled the away team all game round as Home United's squad go on a rotation. Golden Phoenix capitalise on their highly pressuring game and got the first spot on goals scored. Season XI's runner up Gala started to fumble in their title chase as they lost their second game of the season as SC Milan scored their last minute corner to keep the distance between the top and Gala to six points. Celtics continued their poor form as they dripped into the drop zone with only a win in six matches, all thanks to their leaky defence.

Celtics continued their road to recovery with their second win of the season and they are just a point away from safety. SC Borussia Dortmund is now already looking set to get themselves back in the championships as they stick their noses at the bottom of the table.

Talking about inconsistency, Las Palamas failed to find their standings at the front of the pack as they fell behind 1-0 against Home United, while maintaining 1170 minutes without conceding. Golden Phoenix continued their confident form with a 1-0 win over Busan, keeping their lead at the top of the table. Celtics continued their recovery and jumped to seventh, just nine points away from the last Globe Cup position. Club Atletico, Gala and Betis on the other hand continued their winning streak as they snatched hte last few spots in the top six.

The wait was over as Golden Phoenix finally dropped points against Djax as they got a 2-2 draw. Home United on the other hand got a close win over Club Atletico, keeping their strong defence while at the same time keeping the gap between the top and the second spot close. Las Palmas slumped to their fourth defeat in the row as they lost to Betis who maintained a two point lead against them. As the season goes, SC Borussia Dortmund looked uncertain whether they can beat the drop as they are eight points away from safety while staying rooted to the bottom, the fans of Dortmund however has urged the board to stay faithful to the head coach. "We share our happiness and shoulder our woes together," commented the fan club president in a recent press interview.

The top of the table opens up once again as Home United conceded for the first time in 14 matches against Betis as they went down to the fourth draw of the season while maintaining an undefeated record together with Golden Phoenix who kept Las Palmas away from the title chase. Celtics are now just a point away from the top six as they beat current top sixers Club Atletico. Dortmund showed bits of nerves and courage as they beat Busan away 2-1 and are 5 points away from the 19th spot.

Dropping points has never been so easy as the league saw nine draws from the ten matches with Gala defeating Las Palmas 2-0 in the only victory of the match day. This has kept the top six open with 26 points. The top spot is still separated from the second by 6 points. Elsewhere, the fight for the drop zone remains close as every team from the tenth spot and below have a chance of getting into the drop zone should they slipped in any of their games as the candidates for the drop zone seemed closely contested even if it weren't meant to be a pleasant thing to be relegated though.

Golden Phoenix finally suffered their first defeat in the cross city derby against Home United as the latter got the better of Golden Phoenix in their convincing 3-0 win over the league leaders. Aside from this, the only team now left undefeated is the defending champions Home United, and odds seemed to be in Home United's favour to defend their title successfully this season on paper. It cannot be all that matters though as everyone who are in the top few spots have a shot at the title chase should their opponents slipped up.

In a dramatic second half of the season, several teams survived the relegation dog fight while Celtics won the title on the final day of the season as they maintained a point lead over Home United throughout the second half of the season. Golden Phoenix threw away their steady pace at the top of the table. Moon City survived the top flight hangover and finished 17th to get another shot at Primero Liga survival, while River Park bid farewell to their time in top flight together with Lumburg CV who finished at the bottom of the league. Moon United would be kicking themselves up as they failed to hold onto the Globe Cup spot later in the season only to see Club Atletico snatching that valuable spot. SC Las Palmas' first season in top flight was remarkable as they looked as if they are serious title contenders only to see their momentum and energy run out in the top flight and they have to settle for a commendable 8th position. Dortmund survived the scare of being relegated as they buckled up their belts in their last few matches to finish 14th in the league.

Association Football League Season XIII

Here we go again, the thirteenth season will kick off once again. Celtics Rovers won their maiden title with a very close race against Home United and Golden Phoenix, only to see Celtics Rovers win the title by a point. They then clinch the FA Cup for a double. Celtics will definitely want to retain their double trophies and will not go down without a fight. Home United and Golden Phoenix on the other hand will want to add another trophy to their cabinet. Keeping a squad of champions in their inventory, fans of Celtics would hope to at least go for a title in a troubled 13th season. Will they be able to do that or will the old birds snatch the title away or will there be another team that will win their maiden title?
