I would like to propose that there be a vote for the Cup of Harmony hosting regardless if there is an opposing bid or not. Consulting with Apox, this motion would need three backers to be put into action.

Expanding upon that, I think there might be the need to a small amendment to the constitution regarding bids like the 4-plan and the Super Bid of WC40, rather than merely relying on the one previous precedent. Though the exact wording for that I'm still trying to figure out.

I oppose this. The voting post explicitly stated the process, and if people wanted to object, they had their chance. If people had a problem with SJG and SVT co-hosting, they had their chance to oppose that by voting RON, and 4 people did.

While we should have an amendment to clarify the process one way or the other, I don't think we should be changing the process in the middle of the event. People knew what they were voting on, they knew what the consequences were, and they had their chance to oppose it. 4 people did, nowhere near a majority. The rest didn't. Unless there's some change in circumstances that would cause a lot of people to switch from supporting to opposing (like if one of the hosts pulls an EQS and doesn't scorinate the qualifiers they're supposed to) I see no reason to overturn the results. Unless another bid is posted, in which case we follow the process and hold a vote.

In short, barring a change in circumstances, which hasn't happened, I see no reason to change the process mid-stream. If people want to change the process for the future, fine, we can discuss that. But we can't apply these rules retroactively. It's not fair to SJG and SVT, and it's not fair to the voters either.

Well, in order to keep with the rules but still force a vote, here is our "bid" for the CoH. I will actually make a serious attempt at hosting if it wins, or as serious as it can be while still keeping with the bid. But I'll do my job and not pull an Ontie/EQS. But nobody in their right mind would vote for this bid, it's just to force a vote and keep Valanora happy while also keeping me happy since we're still following procedure.

If any other bids are posted, this one will be withdrawn.

Cool. Why did you feel the need to tell us here?

Normal roster practice, bud.

Might I also suggest, as a nation that will be visiting one of those stadiums during these qualifiers, that you state which stadium will host which games? Just an idea, but it certainly makes it a lot easier to RP going to a stadium if I don't have to guess which one my team went to.

Oh well, Group 17 is nice.

Depends on how many teams have competed in the last three cups. Currently the total is 315 ranked teams; the bottom three, though, are effectively unranked as they failed to score any points in the tournaments that give them their "ranking" and thus have a KPB of 0.

Moving on... it's worth noting that, no matter the venue or quality of opposition, Omerica have yet to record a win the opening game of a qualifying cycle and lost to the Sunrisians in both meetings during WCQ71. Bets on how badly Les Oiseaux lose the first game of this cycle are now open. :p

The rankings weight a nation's performances at the last three Baptisms of Fire, World Cup Qualifiers & Finals, and Cups of Harmony to produce an overall ran, with the most recent tournaments counting the most.

Theoretically the highest possible rank would be to win every game in your Baptism of Fire, and win three straight World Cups immediately after, winning every game in the Qualifiers and Finals along the way to statistically bet the highest ranked team ever.

I've just read through the last four or so pages of this thread.

Gim, your enthusiasm is commendable, but the WCDT is not your personal chat thread. Your questions about how the ranking system works are valid and belong here; many of your other posts veer towards spammy chat - as pointed out by a couple of other participants.

We've always tolerated a bit of banter here, but sometimes it goes a little far; please consider using TGs or IRC chat if you want an informal discussion with specific individuals.

Yes, someone did tell me casual chat is not allowed here. The posts I made in the previous pages were made, prior to my knowing chit-chat is not allowed here. I told the person who is presiding over this thread that I would not be making short, frequent spam chats. My apologies once again.

I won't be making the mistake again, so worry not. I don't plan to foolishly spam here at all, especially if I am violating the rules of this thread. Thank you for letting me know once again.

I thought that only the last two Baptisms counted in the ranking. :meh:

For shits and giggles, the highest theoretical rating is 69: 7 wins in the last three World Cup finals (plus the three bonus points for qualifying) and wins in every qualifying game in the last three cycles. The qualifying cycles would thus give 12, 6 and 3 points (3 points per game times 4, 2 and 1 respectively), while three perfect World Cup finals runs would give 48 points in total (24/7*8+24/7*4+24/7*2=24/7*[8+4+2]=24/7*14=24*2=48). /geekery

Wasn't it the last two BoFs? And doesn't the highest possible rank include a flawless CoH win, and no BoF because of my first question? Maybe I'm misremembering things, though.
