That sounds very subjective, but I guess if a World Cup host in the future decided to 'select' the best kit of the World Cup, he/she could add it as a fun bonus to his/her usual hosting duties, like many hosts have done with many other things.

I definitely wouldn't agree with it being a separate competition, though.

We could also add separate categories, like "Most Unique", "Most Colorful", "Most Polarizing" (think Oregon Ducks football) and even "Most Hideous." And of course, if you want to do such a feature and nobody else does, you could always make it an RP where you decide and/or ask people to TG votes to you. As I recall, Havl did an RP line about uniforms during some earlier World Cup of Hockey.

I am looking for a manager to help with my backwater craphole nation's team, Don't care if they are a horse or a sentient gas cloud, as long as he is fine with managing team of 14 lizards with a 3rd grade reading level and are full-amateur players, I'm sure the Mint could help with the salary. Nice bonuses if we manage to not end dead-last in the qualifiers.

As for the personality, I'm looking someone more like Terry Connor and less like Brian Clough because the mint can't afford the latter no matter what.

If you are willing to help, please TG me.

Good luck to all!

I understand the decision to not allow entry to those who signed up late. I am new to NS, came across the NS Sports forums and got excited about the opportunity to partake in such events. With that being said, it is unfortunate that Isles of Azoria will miss this edition of Baptism of Fire and World Cup but we wish all nations good luck! Looking forward to future opportunities :)

Speaking of which...

After Super-Llamaland teetered on the brink of non-existence, national team coach Bogdan Antonescu decided to look for a position with a more certain future. Therefore, he is offering his services as an experienced football coach.

Personal Details
Nationality: Furelese
Place of Birth: Ingridberg, Furellum
Age: 50
Species: Banteng Cow

Furellum U-15 Squad:
U-15 WC 6 (3rd place)
U-15 WC 7 (3rd in group; missed out on GD)
U-15 WC 8 (Quarter-finals)

Furellum National Team:
World Cup 67 qualifiers (5th in group)
World Cup 68 qualifiers (6th in group)
AOCAF 42
AOCAF 43 (Well, sort of…it's complicated. Also, don't ask about the result)

Super-Llamaland National Team:
Runner Cup 3 (2nd place)
World Cup 70 qualifiers (Playoffs - 2nd in group)
World Cup 70 (Round of 16)
The Opener Trophy I (2nd place - lost on away goals)
Meski Cup I (2nd Place - lost on penalties)
World Cup 71 qualifiers (1st in group)
World Cup 71 (Group stage)

Bogdan's career as an international football coach started in his home country of Furellum. Starting out coaching the Under-15s, his third place finish in the 6th U-15 World Cup would have been more impressive if Furellum had not finished 2nd in the previous two editions. That story of success mixed with failure was repeated throughout his entire career leading Furellum, which it must be said, have a pretty average senior national team. Possibly Bogdan's defining moment was when he backed the FFA's decision to use magic to send the team to AOCAF 43, which thanks to some incompetent wizardry, resulted in the entire team being lost in time and space. Some temporal high jinks later and Bogdan was back in Furellum, but only spent a cycle or two before the fascist Corvidae party took over, and he was very pointedly made unwelcome.

Picked up by Super-Llamaland, a team in much better condition than Furellum, Bogdan was able to show his true potential, taking them to two World Cups, including a Round of 16 finish. However, the story of his life continued, with three 2nd place finishes in minor tournaments - often by the narrowest of margins.

Bogdan's biggest strength, arguably, is his ability to work with anyone. Being from Furellum, he has seen his fair share of craziness, and has worked with humans, cats, wolves, various assorted mammals, gay teenagers, straight teenagers, drunk teenagers, thieves, cultists, amateur wizards, teenage wizards, incompetent wizards, time-travel, magic travel, boat travel, psychopathic defenders, useless defenders, psychopathic strikers, fascists, royalists, realists, nobles, blacksmiths, gypsies, and more. His most difficult challenge was sorting out the relationship challenges of unrequited teenage love in an under-fifteen team, which he kept together even as the situation spiralled out of control and led directly to the overthrow of the government and establishment of the fascist regime.

Bogdan is looking for a team that will enable him to shine to his full potential (OOC: This means you must RP, frequently and well) and also be ranked in the top 100, although this is not an essential requirement, especially if he feels a team can meet the first requirement.

For all enquiries, please TG Furellum

The qualifying format tends to be different for every World Cup because its a matter of host discretion, but the World Cup is always the 2 hosts and 30 qualifiers. As there are 20 qualifying groups this time, the group winners qualify automatically and the 2nd place teams go to the playoffs, where half of them will qualify. Then the Cup of Harmony host(s) invite the best RPing nations that didn't qualify to that tournament (which counts toward the rankings going into the next World Cup).

Nobody's qualified for the World Cup in their first try in a long time, but a few came very close (including my other nation). In most other tournaments, everybody who actively RPs has a decent shot of making it out of the first round, but the World Cup is extremely competitive and we have decided to stick to the 32 team format for the World Cup finals that is used in the real world, so the Cup of Harmony was created so that those who weren't lucky enough to qualify would still have a tournament to compete in.

Yeah, can't have them two beating us now, can we?

Also just realised the games between you and I will be extra special, given I've got an Osarian manager.

There's no fixed schedule, but the cycle comes happens 3-4 (occasionally 5) times a year.
