Hello everyone! Kosovakia really wants to join the world cup. Kosovakia Has the level of the real Kosovo and Slovakian football team. If this country will participate in the real FIFA . then Kosovakia number 98 in the world !! But Kosovakia has no real life team  But this is the opportunity for Kosovakia to join the big NS World cup. They are already official member of the (NS UEFA). And currently Kosovakia build stadiums for friendly matches and qualification tournaments. But in the future for bigger events!! So my question can Kosovakia participate? (I will make a wiki page about the Kosovakian football team for more information)

Greetings Kosovakia

Welcome to NS Sports.
To answer your questions/comments?
1. We use our own football rankings here - they're usually known as the KPB rankings, after the creators of the formula.

2. What exactly is the NS UEFA?

3. Stadiums are always good to have, as they add RP flavour, but I will just state that they are in no way required to participate. We'd just assume you have one.

4. To participate, you just need to find an open signup thread, and post that you signup. Unfortunately you're a little late to the party, as WC67 is already underway, but the next World Cup will start in about 3 months. There is also a cup for beginners, called the Baptism of Fire, which is run just before the World Cup and which I highly recommend joining. In the meantime, there should be other tournaments happening, such as youth cups, for you to get a start in the wonderful world of NS Sports.

I shall not be voting on the CoH hosting, because the Bears will be ending their involvement in international football at the end of these qualifiers: They've taken the team's results during the first half of qualifiers as a sign from the spirits that they should do so.
(This is something that I'd been considering OOC for a while anyhows, due to time constraints, and for which I had just been awaiting a suitable IC justification....)

However they'll probably return to the Olympics, after having missed a cycle or two, next time around...

I've just cleaned up some spam from the same account posted in this thread and the presidential announcements thread.

I haven't voted in the CoH host election for the simple reason that my priority right now is my new job, and I don't feel sufficiently informed about the different hosts - and lack the time to read their bids individually to the level necessary to make an informed decision. Otherwise I'd be voting solely on personalities.

This is a conscious decision on my part stemming from my need to focus on RL right now.

Hey everyone! Damukuni here.

Vilita suggested in the #nssport channel over on EsperNet that we put together an archive of World Cup logos from 1 to 76. I volunteered.

The World Cup Logo Archive
is online and still looking to collect the remaining logos from World Cups since past.

Help me out by dropping some links, preferably via TG to me so as not to spam this thread.

Thanks! Happy scavenging!

You'll enter in the rankings soon after your first participation in a NSWC competition (As are your first time ever playing a WC, you can enter in the Baptism of Fire), friendlies doesn't have interference on rankings. You can, also, choose one of the three most big sports regions (Esportiva, Atlantian Oceania or Rushmore) to join it, as a big opportunity to earn experience and participating in the regional tournament (Campionato Esportiva, Copa Rushmore or the AOCAF) which is played before every Baptism of Fire and World Cup.

Oke thanks for more information. I also will participate in one other football cup. But the world cup is so great and maybe the best for Kosovakian football team. I love it to be here in this big NS Sport family.

Others may disagree, but I would really rather prefer it if you didn't.

Especially given that this is a personal initiative rather than a formal WCC initiative.

I'm using this nation on purpose so it's clear that this is a personal opinion, but it feels uncomfortably like unsolicited spam.

I'm well aware of my right to vote, and don't need a third-party unsolicited TG unilaterally sent out without any input from the appropriate governing body to remind me.

I'll make sure you don't receive them in the future (and I'll extend the same offer to anybody who states their wish not to receive such telegrams).

I'd disagree. It'd be worse if someone did that but tried to keep themselves anonymous. Saintland has gone the full-disclosure route, which is fine by me.

I had initially thought that this NS Voting League guy was you, actually, before reading the entirety of the telegram :p

I'm okay with the idea of telegramming users to remind them of the importance of voting, but I would have preferred the idea to have been mooted on here first (if it has and I accidentally ignored it, tell me). I think, with something like this, it's important that the wording of the TG is made public before it does the rounds. I do, of course, appreciate that this Voting League thing is entirely separate from any other IC/OOC sporting entity, as was stated explicitly in the telegram, and so I don't get to do anything here but give my opinion while holding my WCC Prez hat behind my back. Figuratively. I haven't had that hat made yet.

We don't have any rules on bidders sending/not sending TGs during an official WCC vote. Any such rule would be more or less impossible to enforce without the highest mod level powers. I think the unwritten rule on campaigning during WCC votes is 'don't do it outwith your own bid thread', but there's still not much anyone could do if a bid team campaigned via sending TGs. I don't know if that would fall foul of NS rules or not.

There is, as yet, no unwritten rule for how or when to send unbiased, neutrally worded reminders to potential voters that their vote is welcome and important. I think, if we were to write down think aloud about what that unwritten rule might look like, it'd be something along the lines of 'make sure all the bidders are all cool with the idea first'.

This particular TG was well written, so it's all cool.

The basic reasoning behind sending those telegrams out was to make sure that everybody who is eligible to vote was made aware of that fact, as there are many people who don't exactly read the WCDT or the announcements thread. I did debate whether or not to put the disclosure in and also whether or not to hold this off until I wasn't one of the bidding parties, but decided it was best to just go ahead with it rather than waiting and that it was probably best to disclose who was sending it.

I'm willing to step aside should official tournament organizations elect to send out telegrams to eligible voters instead and I'm also open to suggestions for any improvements to the wording of the telegrams.

Vilita wrote:
Not technically, no.

However, in these modern times, we always use a two host system for WCC events. The reasons have evolved to be two-fold. Firstly, to ensure the tournament will continue should something happen to one of the hosts. For the lesser wcc (coh/bof) tournaments, this was always a loose requirement but still valid. Things get delayed and potentially screwed up if the solo host disappears.

Secondly, a more modern reason for it, is that it allows a less experienced host to pair with a more experienced host so that someone new(ish) can gain experience hosting a WCC event - either the WC or in preparation for a future World Cup bid. In the modern times the last 25 or so editions of the CoH there have only been two solo hosts.

So that said, there is nothing wrong with the fact that Saintland put forward a solo bid when there were no other bids - in fact it may have been a good thing - as maybe it spurred on some of the other bids to show up. We've resorted to solo-bids for the CoH twice before when there were no bids so if no other bids showed up, it also would have been just fine. But now that there are a slew of two-host bids - more than we've seen for a single bid cycle in quite some time - the real need is no longer there. No, there is nothing technically wrong with a solo-bid. However, its not in the best interest of the community and the development of new hosts for future events. Saintland has already hosted major tournaments including the World Cup and by continuing to campaign openly for his solo bid he is at the same time campaigning to deny hosting experience to potential future World Cup Hosts in the form of Damukuni, Schottia, Tumbra and also The Sarian.

With the exception of Saintlands Solo bid which has no junior partner, every other CoH bid pairs one user with WCC hosting experience with another user who would be hosting a WCC tournament for the very first time.

We go through cycles with hosts for the NSWC and thats why sometimes in the past we've had to resort to solo bids - because there weren't enough willing and able hosts in the pool to step up to the plate. This time, it appears that there are a handful of potential new hosts willing to try their hand at the job and it would be a shame to see them denied that opportunity by someone who doesn't need the experience, and didn't want to reach out to invite a junior partner to join them in their bid.

With a trio of willing and competent junior partners available - (and even inexperienced hosts offering in the West Saintland solo bid thread to step up and help him scorinate matches...) I would have hoped that Saintland would have reached out to invite one of them to join his bid as a junior partner once it became clear his solo bid was not going to be required as a default - if he truly had the best interests of developing the NSWC community in mind.

I'll admit that I would have withdrawn my bid had another bid been put forward using the same format (in fact, I was hoping another bid would do this). I share the view that the CoH should be co-hosted most of the time and only put forward that bid to accelerate the bidding process and to put certain ideas up to a vote. That bid, in some form or another, has been sitting in my draft box for around 10 cycles and I'd always found some reason not to put it forward until I just decided to move forward with it this time around.

I think you may be underestimating the importance of the bit about 'a third-party unsolicited TG unilaterally sent out without any input from the appropriate governing body'.

Again, I'm being very careful to post with this account so people don't misunderstand this as a formal moderation opinion, but the bit I'm emphasising above could potentially be a cause of serious concern if anyone were to launch a formal complaint. I think the basic concept is a sound one worth exploring, but I really think you need formal WCC sanction here rather than doing this unilaterally on your own initiative.

I also don't think defaulting to assuming people want to be included unless they specifically opt out is sufficient to protect you.

As an additional to this, there is also a second issue; namely that if someone other than the vote-taker is sending these, there's a good chance people will receive this TG after they've voted. As a reminder partway through the voting process, done by the vote-taker, this idea may have merit; otherwise, it risks causing annoyance and confusion.

(This is something that I'd been considering OOC for a while anyhows, due to time constraints, and for which I had just been awaiting a suitable IC justification....)

However they'll probably return to the Olympics, after having missed a cycle or two, next time around...

This is the end of an oversized-font era from one of my favourite imagined worlds in NS. At least in the WC.
I feel the moment should be marked, and offer fresh raw Boney Salmon on a platter of berries, wild beans, nuts, tubers and honey-glazed moths; washed down with some blotwine.
We're all off to Barbary Salé in the next cycle to drink your honour at Hrrick's.

Thank you.

(Edit: I'll still be active in NS, but am going to concentrate on the GA and on matters in my home region for a while...)

Hey guys. So if you've been following my RPs Gadirya recently had their general election and the Prime Minister of Gadirya, Mohammed Haik, wants to celebrate his election win with a tour of the "Big Three" sporting regions. I will begin this tour starting this matchday and through the WC final (if I make it) or the CoH (if I am invited). If I am not part of either tournaments I will start RPing it during the Campionato.

If you are interested TG me with detailed information (factbook, nswiki post, etc.) about your country and I'll include your nation on Haik's Global TourTM.

Especially given that this is a personal initiative rather than a formal WCC initiative.

This was my initial reaction, too, although I agree with Audio that the full disclosure route was the correct way to go within that.

The full disclosure is likely the main thing helping Saintland. I have no doubt that his heart was in the right place.

But undertaking this as a unilateral personal initiative without any real consultation was ill-advised and potentially places him in a difficult situation.

In the interests of being polite, I'll simply note that you may not have wholly grasped the central point of this discussion.

Personally, the 'voting reminder' did remind me to vote. Not that it mattered, because the bid I voted for lost, but still.

I would have much prefer if this had been done in consultation with the people up top, but the initiative was good. I just feel that discussion would have helped before hand, rather than keeping it a secret.

Also, sorry for my relative inactivity these past matchdays. I've been relatively busy this week, and probably will be coming into this next week as well, although I will try to get some rp up at some point. Aiming to get my UCAS application sent off before half-term, so that's pushing on my time, plus a load of h/w set recently. Hopefully now I've dropped Biology that'll free up some time though.
