The World Cup Discussion Thread (OOC, Version IV)

Congratulations to all who qualified and commiserations to those who didn't make it! I hope to see you next time around!

Regarding logistics from the hosts here, we are currently working out whether we'll be having a live draw, and what time it'll be if we do. Plan is to have Matchday 1 of the finals commence around next weekend, though a full and more specific schedule will be posted up as soon as possible.

Apologies for the double post, but I now have confirmation of finals details.

We have decided against a live draw, and therefore the draw will be up tomorrow at some point, with the schedule going up around the same time.

I've really enjoyed the quality of RP's this cycle so far. Looking forward to the continuation of them in the CoH, and hoping that the Old Guard like Audio, Eura, PIS, Vilita, etc. RP a bit more once the WC Proper starts. There's nothing like NS to turn my attention away from the stresses of RL.

As for the Chromatiks, an expected finish given the wildly predictable nature of a -5 style modifier and myself not being able to RP as much as I wanted to. Hopefully I stick around a bit more to make it to the WC again in the near future.

PIS, sadly, is in his "swamped by uni" phase again, so don't expect much from him.

Audio, on the other hand, is relishing the prospect of drawing them (hi!) in the Group Phase.

So, folks. I know some of you might be expecting the eventual time of the World Cup where I go and make a little representation of everyone involved. But this time, I decided to go with a new style and a new genre of game. Might be even more understandable. Basically, World Cup 73 - Street Football style. Representations will be made on a style of art work that fits my nation, so I guess you probably already know what I meant. Now, Sunrise... what will you need for that?

It'll work as this. First, I need the appearance of the best four players of your team and the goalkeeper. These will be the players on focus. Then I'll need other 10 players that will act as the team's bench. To top it all off, I'd appreciate if you could grade them with overall numbers for each player with 100 being maximum and 0 being minimum. These might change, of course. I'd show you a test, but since imgur is down, it might take a while before I can edit it in. If you don't send me anything, though, I'll do something with whatever data I have, though I believe it will struggle to fit any canonical data as I really am having a hard time browsing through the site these days for some reason.

I'd appreciate if you could telegram it to me (or just send me via IRC or Skype if you are able to). Thanks for your attention.

EDIT: I'll also go over teams that didn't make the cut for the World Cup if data is granted. Y'know. The Sunrisian basic.

It occurs to me that Gethin Ramsey has now lead his third side into the World Cup (Nephara, the Licentian Isles, Cosumar). I'd be surprised if nobody else had done three, but just out of curiosity, does anyone know any candidates to be record-holder for a manager qualifying with the most nations?

Almost. He never got Audioslavia into the World Cup finals but did win the AOCAF Cup and the Baptism of Fire with them. He did take Silexhera into the finals but only as a player, not as a manager. I believe he has a Campionato Esportiva from his time with Licentian Isles and a World Cup as manager of Eura, meaning only the Copa Rushmori and Cup of Harmony are missing from his tally of the big six international tournaments, which is quite a feat, but alas, he only took two teams to the World Cup finals.

The sign-up thread should open either after the World Cup Proper is done, or sometime during the Olympics. At least, that's what makes sense to me. Last time, it was right after the WC Proper finished up.

It's not really set on stone. Odds are it'll be around Christmas. But there are some other stuff you can join if you're interested, heheh.

There's usually a grace period during which regional tournament happen (especially for Atlantian Oceania, Rushmore, and Esportiva, the three main sports regions) and we have the Thankschristhanukwanzaa season upon us. Keep an eye on the forum is my best advice, but don't expect anything till at least December.
