Hello everyone,
Welcome to the International Bob-sledding World Championships i Sign-up Thread. I have drawn enough interest in the sport to make a championship for it.

How a Championship would be set up:
1. I would want to have AT LEAST FOUR NATIONS wanting to compete in this cup.
2. I think hosting would be decided by a vote.
3. If we have EIGHT nations it would be TWO groups of FOUR if we have TWELVE nations it would be THREE groups of FOUR with the nation with the fastest time in qualification going straight to finals match. If we had sixteen nations it would be FOUR groups of four.
4. Each team will run down the track ONCE and the team with the fastest time wins.
5. We will have 4 man co-ed teams.
6. A championship will be held every TWO months.

Participating:
1. You must post a roster on sign-up threads to participate.
2. Puppets are allowed (TWO PER NATION)
3. Once the hosts win, their word is final, no arguing.
4. Please try to keep your posts RELATED
5. You are subject to removal from the competition if you infringe one of these rules (EXCEPT FOR FOUR)

Hosting:
1. You may have Two-Men, Four-Men or both.
2. You might want to have four stadiums but it is your choice.
3. If you end up hosting allow three more days for more sign-ups before proceeding.
4. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE have some experience before submitting a bid to host this.
5. AND MOST IMPORTANT: HAVE A GOOD BID!

5. We would use a four-man co-ed team.

Hosting:
1. You would need to have AT LEAST THE FOLLOWING INFO: TRANSPORTATION, CURRENCY and TRACKS, look up on Wikipedia for more info.
2. You would need at least FOUR tracks for the event with a minimum seating capacity of 25.000.
3. Your currency must be able to convert to a NSD (Nation States Dollar) and a USD (United States Dollar) and others you want to use.

As Britonisea said whilst I was writing this: Can't you host it? I mean, unless you have a good reason why you can't host (like you don't have the time or your computer can't run a scorinator), I think it might be the best thing to do. I'm not being rude, it's just a suggestion, that's all.

No need to panic, mate. If you want some help with roleplaying, feel free to check this out or this if you have any questions. I know there's a thread for questions about scorinators somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Either way, you don't need to worry, since it's a good way to practice.

I could host and organize it. I've already hosted a tournament and taken part in some RPs as the Grand Duchy of Seahold, before Aurora imploded and various IRL issues forced me to abandon NationStates.

Ilva's Host Bid for the 1st Bobsleigh World Cup

The Principality of Ilva, a microstate of just 295 square kilometers blessed by a mild Mediterranean climate, is the last place anyone in their right mind would ever want to host a Bobsleigh World Cup in. This is exactly why eccentric Ilvan billionaire Jean Crespin decided to single-handedly finance the construction of a temporary bobsleigh track just outside the capital city, Ferraia. How did he get the country's government to back his insane bid, it's something you don't want to know. The 1st Bobsleigh World Cup, if hosted in Ilva, will be a knockout tournament. The standings for each race will be calculated over the aggregate of four runs. All participating nations will have a skill level of 0.5; RPs will be rewarded with bonuses.

I have the last version of Xkoranate, and know how to use it.

Schedule: the World Cup would start in a week, on the 7th of January - to allow more nations to sign up. I'd scorinate a whole round each day - depending on the number of nations taking part in the World Cup, the length of the tournament could change, but I would still post once a day. The RP scale would be the same of every other sport RP; the bonuses would have a 15% effect and, as for the RP permissions, the only variables that could apply to bobsleigh are deaths, injuries and events happening out of the track - therefore, it'd be better to have at least a substitute on your team, and to ask for permission before, for example, murdering your opponents in a gruesome fashion. In my case, you can do whatever you want.

Don't get discouraged by the naysayers, but let's definitely do this right. Start off by spelling each nation's name right, possibly. There's less than double digits entered so far, so it shouldn't be too difficult to give each nation their due diligence and respect.
Also, I don't get where the ranks come from if this is the first Tournament? Everyone should be unranked, unless you're counting teams that have Olympic experience.

Bids should have more information to them. I can post some examples if needed. Describe host cities, tracks, go in depth on how scoring will be accomplished and type of RP bonus to be garnered. Schedule of scoring runs, too, as said by Britonisea.

I understand. Let's co-host. I'll help you out. TG me to start with some cities that could host, and we'll get to work on putting a proper bid together. We all have to start somewhere. Why not now? Just for transparency and a little primer for those new to NSS, you generally have a few components to a host bid:
Some IC info about your nation, map, culture, laws, travel, etc. Maybe a little extra detail about the particular host cities. I will get some track info. Then put up some things about the sport, regulations, team restrictions, possibly even accommodations for them.
OOC part: Scoring, bonus RP, cut off time and days that will be scored (will there be byes or off days for RL circumstances?)

So, Ilva, start writing up some of that and I will do my research. In the meantime, let's get some more numbers signed up. I may submit a puppet for numbers.
