Introduction

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States is a diverse country inhabited by several dozen sapient species, each contributing to the nation's proud culture of tolerance and giving the Equestrian States a reputation of compassion and kindness. Tradition and innovation have combined well in this North Pony Lands nation, rapidly bringing it into the modern world after centuries of self-imposed isolation from the rest of the multiverse. This Lonely Multiverse travel guide is designed to be the ultimate companion for any tourist (regardless of his/her species) visiting the Equestrian States, and is loaded with every tip and bit of advice one needs to have an safe and enjoyable stay.

History

Originally colonized by sapient equines (commonly referred to as ponies) from Magical Equestria over 2000 years ago, the Equestrian States was first established as a largely-autonomous overseas territory of its motherland. As a colony, the Equestrian States was fairly prosperous, developing a matriarchal society similar to that of Magical Equestria and other prominent Pony Lands nations. Several decades after the first ponies set hoof on the islands now part of the Equestrian States, however, the rise of a mysterious and chaotic entity known as Discord led to the government of the growing colony to adopt strict isolationist policies to avoid attracting the attention of Discord.

Several centuries later, the anarchic reign of Discord in the Pony Lands came to an end, though the Equestrian States remained firmly entrenched in its isolationist policies. Having formally declared its independence from Magical Equestria during the rule of Discord, the Equestrian States was reluctant to turn away from the policies which had allowed it to escape the turmoil faced by the rest of the region. Yet another cataclysmic event, just over a millennia ago, saw the known world embroiled in conflict with itself and the fledgling former colony sunk deeper into isolation for the next several centuries.

However, about 200 years ago, the long-standing policies separating the Equestrian States from the rest of the region gradually began to erode with the rapid growth of international maritime trade. Though it would take until just 50 years ago for the remaining isolationist policies to be overturned or made obsolete, foreigners began to take note of the Equestrian States and its northern location in the Pony Lands. What finally drove the ponies of the Equestrian States to abandon isolationism entirely was commerce, with the nation's location being perfect as a refueling and stopping point for ships traveling from outside the Pony Lands.

Active membership in the Coalition of Ponyist States (a military, economic, and political alliance famed for its quick, efficient, and merciless dealings with nations actively persecuting sapient equines and other non-humans) gave the Equestrian States reason to become heavily involved in international politics and trade. Within a decade, the Equestrians entered the modern era, utilizing magic in creative ways to avoid industrial pollution wherever possible and speed the nation's development.

Today, the Equestrian States is an advanced country that has successfully merged tradition, magic, and technology. With an economy dominated by tourism, agriculture, and the mining of precious minerals, the Equestrians have found their niche in the international community. Thanks to its location in the Pony Lands, the Equestrian States has become a travel hub for many visiting the region from around the world, and the nation is easily among the more prosperous and safe for foreigners to visit.

Geography & Climate

The Equestrian States is best described as an island nation. However, most Equestrians live on the largest island, which is referred to by locals as the mainland, due to its size and role as a population and commercial center for the country.

The mainland is mostly flat grassland and plains, though forests and hilly areas exist and are generally scattered throughout the island. Running north to south are the Harmony Mountains, named for Mt. Harmony near the capital city of Canterlot. The mountain range divides the mainland into eastern and western geographic regions, and was once home to dozens of active volcanoes. However, no eruption has occurred in the Harmony Mountains in over 800 years, and the range is believed to be inactive. The ancient volcanic activity on the mainland (and on many of the Equestrian States' smaller islands, as well) resulted in mineral deposits from which Equestrian miners have extracted gold, silver, and other valuable materials for export.

Two notable exceptions to the mainland's grassy majority are the Everfree Forest and Southern Desert. The Everfree Forest is more of a jungle than a temperate forest, and is widely considered the most dangerous region in the Equestrian States due to its large numbers of wild carnivorous species, some of which would be considered "mythical" by foreigners. Within the Everfree Forest is the city of Everfree, located along the banks of the Stampede River and home to the largest population of non-equines in the nation. A number of more typical temperate forests surround the Everfree Forest itself.

The Southern Desert is (as one might expect) a dry region located in a small pocket of flat land surrounded by the Harmony Mountains near the southern coast. The only major population center in the Southern Desert is the small city of Appleoosa, located in what could be considered by some as a cooler oasis.

But where things begin to get weird for the average tourist is the Equestrian States' weather. Due to the magical nature of many of its inhabitants, the Equestrians are fully capable of creating, manipulating, and otherwise controlling the clouds and weather. This gives them the ability to determine where and when in rains, snows, hails, or any other . The Equestrian government is very actively involved in coordinating the pegasai of the country to generate and control weather patterns favorable to the Equestrian States inhabitants (and its many farmers, in particular). As such, the odds of an Equestrian weatherpony giving an incorrect forecast are almost nonexistent, unless you happen to be in the Everfree Forest (the only region of the Equestrian States where the weather is practically impossible to control due to a prevalence of wild magic).

Travel

Travelling to the Equestrian States is generally easy, as most methods of interregional travel are available to visitors from outside the Pony Lands. Most international flights to the Equestrian States arrive at Canterlot's Harmony International Airport, but other regularly-used airports such as Manehattan's Royal International and Stalliongrad's Friendship Heights International are easy to find flights to. However, it should be noted that pilots flying to and from the Equestrian States internationally must receive additional certification due to the nature of the Equestrian States and much of the Pony Lands. Because of this additional requirement for pilots, some airlines do charge extra to cover the training fees.

Another common way of reaching the States is via sea. Manehattan's seaport is among the most active in the North Pony Lands, and isn't located far from the heart of the Equestrian States' largest city.

Once in the Equestrian States, there are many other options for travel. Rental cars, taxis, and busses are easy to find in the larger cities such as Manehattan, Stalliongrad, and Everfree, though one might notice that most vehicles are electric-powered. But while cars and busses are regularly used in some cities, there are also several in which their use is limited to emergency services (most notably in Ponyville and Canterlot's Old City district) or is totally banned (as is the case in Cloudsdale).

However, the limited use of automobiles is balanced out by the proliferation of trains for travel between and within cities. Some of the more prominent and historical lines (such as the Ponyville-Canterlot Express) still use steam-powered engines or high-speed trains designed to mimic the classical appearance of an Equestrian train. Subways are also a common feature in Equestrian cities, spreading underground to connect many places of interest for foreign tourists. Cloudsdale is the only city where cars, buses, and trains/subways are unavailable.

But in the end, the most common method of travel in the Equestrian States is one's own two feet (or whatever you have to walk on). Few Equestrians drive or use public transportation unless they have to, preferring to take in the clean air on their way from place-to-place.

Culture & Society

Religion

Any analysis of Equestrian culture and society must begin with its majority religion and guiding philosophy: Harmonism. A dualistic religion, it revolves around the physical sun and moon deities, Celestia and Luna, as well as the six principles known as the Elements of Harmony. The religion's origins are near-impossible to determination, though it is widely believed to begun shortly after ponykind first encountered Celestia and Luna over two millennia ago. Unlike other religions, Harmonism lacks a written scripture or centralized multiversal organization to create such writings, occasionally resulting in disagreements between Harmonists from different regions. For the sake of brevity, we will only be exploring the most common spiritual and secular beliefs held by those from the Equestrian States.

As stated earlier, the central beliefs of Harmonism include the worship of the Regal Sisters (Celestia and Luna) and adherence to the Elements of Harmony. Celestia and Luna are the two Princess rulers of distant Magical Equestria, though Luna has (in recent years) begun to spend considerable time aiding the C'tan in preserving peace throughout the Pony Lands. Immortal and, according to spiritual Harmonists, capable of moving celestial bodies through magic, the two Regal Sisters are worshiped (or at least respected) by ponies throughout the multiverse as living goddesses. Some have recently begun to question the actual power of the Sisters, though it is widely accepted among ponykind that they are the two most powerful magical beings in existence.

The six Elements of Harmony are Honesty, Laughter, Kindness, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. These Elements exist both as philosophical concepts as well as physical objects capable of great power that contain the purest magical essence of the aforementioned virtues. The philosophical aspects of the Elements are more central to Harmonist faith as a set of morals to guide one throughout life. They are, for the most part, fairly self-explanatory, except for Magic. The sixth element has been connected not only to the ability of equine Harmonists to use magical spells, but also to the drive for new knowledge or understanding. It also has been connected to the power of friendship, and is mentioned in the most common Harmonist saying: "Friendship is Magic".

However, Harmonism has expanded from its spiritual roots (particularly as more non-equines are exposed to harmonist teachings) to become a secular philosophy as well. Secular Harmonists generally try to follow the virtues of Harmonism, though they generally do not believe that the Regal Sisters are physical goddesses. The expansion of Secular Harmonism has also led to the traditional virtues being adopted and woven into other religions as well, such as Christianity. Excluding the overwhelmingly Spiritual Harmonist equine population of the Equestrian States, the most common religion is Harmonist Christianity, which is especially popular among the human inhabitants of the nation.

Language

Traditionally, ponies have spoken in their native Equestrian tongue which is common throughout the Pony Lands. However, since the emergence of the Equestrian States into the international community, laws have been passed requiring citizens to be capable of speaking multiple languages. The most common non-Equestrian language is easily English, which is spoken by approximately two-thirds of the population. It should be noted that some English words have been altered by Equestrians to better fit the equine majority, as the use of "everypony", "anypony", "hoofball", and other such words are modifications of the more standard English words. Mastery of many different languages is especially common among Unicorns, and as they are generally the ones more involved in business, are easy enough to find for foreign visitors. Numerous translating services exist throughout the Equestrian States, and airport bookstores generally contain a plethora of multilingual dictionaries for purchase.

Food

As one might expect from a nation dominated by a species of herbivores, many traditional Equestrian dishes are vegetarian in nature. The proliferation of such food is also furthered by the general lack of agriculture for the purpose of raising up animals for the slaughter. To hurt another living creature is, to many Equestrians, simply unthinkable. However, the Equestrian States is not only inhabited by equines, but also by griffons, dragons, and humans (among others). Restaurants do exist to cater to these non-equine species, and do serve a wide variety of meats imported from outside of the region. That being said, it would be unwise to be seen in public eating a hamburger made from beef or any other meat product as many Equestrians are disgusted by such foods. This can make finding food difficult in smaller cities and in the nicer areas of the larger ones. A general tip would be: if your waiter looks like a herbivore, don't ask them for a cheeseburger or steak. Equestrian cafes are fairly creative with what they can do with non-meat products, and the bread and pastries are oftentimes better than what you might find in other nations.

Drink in the Equestrian States also differs significantly from other nations around the multiverse, as the most common alcoholic beverage is hard cider, which can be found at virtually every bar, pub, and restaurant. Ponies generally refrain from drinking too heavily, but other non-human sapients such as griffons are known to consume vast quantities of alcohol in a single sitting. We advise our human readers to graciously decline any drinking challenges offered, as one is unlikely to win, and drunk griffons can be notoriously temperamental. Beer is a distant second to cider, in terms of both popularity and availability, though bars and eateries which cater to human tourists will often keep domestic Equestrian brands in stock.

Inter-Species Relations

As the Equestrian States is home to a wide range of species, it is practically impossible for any visitor to the country to avoid seeing a member of another species, regardless of where they might be. Unicorns could pull this off in certain neighborhoods of Canterlot, and Earth Ponies could do the same in isolated rural areas, though foreigners will often stumble across other species upon entry into the Equestrian States as customs officials are perhaps the most diverse Equestrian demographic.

Relations between the three major pony races have not always been smooth, and some tensions still exist today despite the educational system's teaching of acceptance and tolerance. However, inter-species violence is very rare within the Equestrian States, as is violence in general, with the possible exceptions coming from dragons, griffons, and other more naturally-aggressive species. Angering a dragon is about as dumb as it sounds, and is not advised unless one has a death wish.

Visitors to the Equestrian States are also advised to avoid appearing speciesist to locals, as Equestrian society could be described as having a herd mentality, where an attack against or insult towards one person might be considered an attack on all those around that person. Thus, some words to avoid using in the Equestrian States are: horse, mule, foal, or donkey. Calling a pony any of those terms is likely to result in a backlash towards the offending individual, as they are considered to be offensive unless one is actually speaking to a sapient horse or donkey, which are both easy to tell apart from ponies through their size and general lack of bright-colored fur or manes.

Venues for the 32nd Di Bradini Cup

Group A
Royal Equestria Stadium

Image

Location: Canterlot
Capacity: 98,625
Tenants: Equestrian States National Team
Will host: Group A, Round of 16, and Final

Not far from the traditional home of the Equestrian States' government, Royal Equestria Stadium is one of the newest sports venues in the nation and can seat nearly 100,000 ponies with standing room for thousands more. Built to replace the aging Equestria Dome as the official home of the national teams, Royal Equestria Stadium is a reflection of the country, truly representing its traditions, natural beauty, and modernity. With a roof of magically-sculpted crystal, the stadium is awe-inspiring in its grandeur and has allowed the Equestrian States to show its most appealing side to the rest of the world. Royal Equestria Stadium has hosted a number of major events, including the third-place match at the 67th World Cup and the finals of the 57th Cup of Harmony, 29th Di Bradini Cup, 21st World Cup of Hockey, and the annual United Cup final.
Star Stadium

Image

Location: Canterlot
Capacity: 59,250
Tenants: Canterlot Stars
Will host: Group A, Round of 16, and Quarterfinals

Located in the suburbs of Canterlot, Star Stadium's name is derived from its glittering exterior as well as the fact that it is home to the Canterlot Stars. Though only the third-largest hoofball venue in the Equestrian States' capital city, the stadium can seat nearly 60,000 and is often packed to the brim with supporters for Canterlot Stars matches. The Stars are often viewed as being the 'other' club from Canterlot, second to the more successful Royals, but recently have begun to close the gap between the two clubs in the United League. Regardless, the local fans are devoted to their club and tend to be a bit showy despite being from the middle class of Equestrian society.

Group B
Derby Field

Image

Location: Manehattan
Capacity: 65,000
Tenants: Manehattan Dragons
Will host: Group B

Looming over the financial district of the Equestrian States' most-populated city is Derby Field. One of the oldest sports venues in the country, Deby Field boasts an impressive brick and glass exterior that speaks of its age. When it was first built the stadium was easily the largest in the Equestrian States, but has since fallen outside of the top 10 venues by capacity. The loss in status for Derby Field mirrors that of the Manehattan Dragons hoofball club, once a power in the domestic league but now a fairly average mid-table team. Still, despite the aging of their home stadium, and the decreasing quality of their favorite club, the locals continue to turn out en masse whenever there's a match to be played.
Manehattan Industrial Park

Image

Location: Manehattan
Capacity: 47,160
Tenants: Manehattan Manticores
Will host: Group B and Round of 16

Home to the recently-promoted Manticores, Manehattan Industrial Park has one of the least-appropriate venue names in the Equestrian States, being located far from the city's actual industrial district. Rather than being an accurate indicator of the stadium's location, the name merely refers to the Manehattan Manticores' original home and their largely lower-class supporters. Boasting some of the United League's more rambunctious fans, the Manticores are often able to fill every seat, so foreign visitors may find tickets to be scarce outside of those allocated to them by tournament organizers.

Group C
Elements Stadium

Image

Location: Ponyville
Capacity: 48,750
Tenants: Ponyville United
Will host: Group C, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals

Ponyville might not look like a commercial hub, but the city's traditional town-like architecture hides its true status. Pleasant is the best word to describe Ponyville and its citizens, and the seamless incorporation of modern technology and conveniences allows visitors to feel at ease when in town. Centrally-located between Canterlot, Everfree, Manehattan, and (to a degree) Cloudsdale, the city also serves as a transportation hub, thriving on the Equestrian States' booming tourism industry. Elements Stadium itself is named after the Elements of Harmony, the guiding principles of the majority faith of the nation: Harmonism. Visiting fans often enjoy the stadium's central position alongside the crystal-clear Mane River, not far from some of Ponyville's largest and nicest hotels.
Sky-High Coliseum

Image

Location: Cloudsdale
Capacity: 65,000
Tenants: Cloudsdale Flyers, Cloudsdale Colts
Will host: Group C and Round of 16

Like many hoofball venues in the Equestrian States, Sky-High Coliseum's name was given for a reason. Located in the pegasi-dominated city of Cloudsdale, Sky-High Coliseum is a nice 2.5 kilometers above ground, with nothing besides the clouds separating it from the grassy plains below. Made of the clouds that it is named after, Cloudsdale is not a city for those who are afraid of heights or magic, the latter due to the necessity of spells for non-pegasi to walk upon the clouds. To accommodate foreign supporters who are not so keen on being zapped with magic by a unicorn mage, large zeppelin-like balloons based in Ponyville are employed by the Hoofball Association that will carry a limited number of fans above Sky-High Coliseum to where they can safely observe the match without the use of magic. Sky-High Coliseum's use as a venue for international competitions has been criticized in the past, as the hesitation of foreign supporters to sit in the stadium itself generally allows the Equestrians to gain an almost unbeatable home-field advantage.

Group D
Diamond Park

Image

Location: Stalliongrad
Capacity: 75,000
Tenants: Stalliongrad HC
Will host: Group D, Round of 16, and 3rd Place Playoff

Though Stalliongrad is not as impressive a city as Canterlot, Diamond Park is one of the most stunning accomplishments of modern equine engineering. Built into the very sides of the mountains, a carved overhang provides shelter from the sun, and unicorn magic gives the rocky stadium protection from destructive rainfall when the Ministry of Weather Control schedules it. Named for the seams of gems and precious metals that can still be seen crisscrossing the roof, Diamond Park is a beautiful stadium that stands out in a city that has become wealthy through nearby mines. (OOC: I'm aware that the above image does not fit with the description given. Add one or two tiers and replace the overhang with one made of rock, and you've got a mental image of Diamond Park.)
Maple Bowl

Image

Location: Trottawa
Capacity: 54,385
Tenants: Trottawa HC
Will host: Group D

Group E
Wild Grounds

Image

Location: Everfree
Capacity: 56,500
Tenants: Everfree Forest HC
Will host: Group E, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals

To foreign visitors Everfree might seem just like any of the world's jungle cities (albeit with a large population of non-humans), but for Equestrians it's the strangest place in the country. Surrounded by the dense Everfree Forest for which it is named, Everfree boasts the largest population of non-equines of any Equestrian city, and is home to a sizable community of humans. Elsewhere in the Equestrian States, the pegasai weather ponies control the clouds and weather patterns of the nation, allowing Equestrian farmers to take advantage of optimal conditions for agriculture. But in the Everfree Forest, the weather is nigh unpredictable and difficult to predict. Added to the presence of countless predatory creatures, the Forest is a forbidding place for ponies. Humans and other non-equine sapients were less afraid of the Everfree's bizarre weather patterns (though the hydras and manticores were still a deterrent) and ventured into the Forest, eventually stumbling upon a clearing which evolved into the modern city of Everfree. Wild Grounds itself is appropriately named, being home to the ever-so-slightly crazed supporters of Everfree Forest HC and located near the very edges of the Forest itself. With a breathtaking view of the city, Wild Grounds offers one of the best atmospheres for hoofball in the country and the city has been a regular stop for the national team ever since the Ponies began to play outside of Canterlot.

United States of Devonta Men's Soccer U-21 Team

Roster

Coach: Vince McMahon
Assistant Coach: Bruce Springsteen

Goalkeepers:

#1- Danny Cake Vanburen [Middleton F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 176 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter

#3- Francisco Marian Rodriguez [Danza F.C]
Height: 6’3 - Weight: 195 lbs - Age: 20 - Substitute

Left Defenders [Left Fullbacks/Wingers]:

#6- AJ Gupta Styles [Astro F.C]
Height: 5'10 - Weight: 157 lbs - Age: 18 - Starter

#7- Donny Rudolf Simpson [Harding F.C]
Height: 5'11 - Weight: 168 lbs - Age: 19 - Substitute

Center Defenders [Center Backs/Sweepers]:

#5- Martin Paul Benton [Middleton F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 188 lbs - Age: 20 - Starter
A product of Blue River Valley High Schools soccer program Benton arises from high school soccer a three time MVP and many best player awards including many man of the matches. He was instantly drafted as a first round pick by Middleton F.C. During his first season Benton showed his worth as a fast and ultra observant sweeper for his team making many goals that could've been no more by knocking them out of the penalty box. In his second season his team made it to the finals. Benton played admirably till the last ten minutes when he made the mistake of passing the ball to player on the other team, Resulting in a 1-0 loss. Benton was driven to make it in the mens national team by his haunting mistake, That he did and as the second youngest player on the team.

Benton many strengths is is quick agility and his ability to focus on multiple points of the penalty box at one time, It is also not uncommon to see him quickly slide tackle without fouling. Critics have noticed he has gotten more aggressive on the field since his mistake and only passes short precise passes. If there is one thing everyone knows, It is he wants to redeem himself.

#4- Coby Lamar Rice [Real Langston F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 179 lbs - Age: 19 - Starter

#2- Fredrick Banhammer Joe [Strickland F.C]
Height: 6'4 - Weight: 197 lbs - Age: 19 - Substitute

Right Defenders [Right Fullbacks/Wingers]:

#9- Eric James Martin [Real Langston F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 167 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter
Martin was not introduced to soccer till he decided to try out for his high schools soccer team at a freshman and made junior varsity. The next year he was pushed up to the varsity team and in the next three years. In his senior year his high school won the state championship partly because of him. Martin then went to college at Langston University where he played soccer for two years having an okay first season and a good second season, His performance in the second season of his college career earned him a chance to play for Real Langston F.C which he proudly took and signed with the team for two years. Martin had an exciting but still disappointing first year. He had his good and bad moments and critics were a shocked by his poor performance. Looking for another opportunity to shine Martin found himself at the national teams training camp and was selected for the roster.

Martin is a quick Right Fullback and he is not afraid to challenge an opponent for the ball, Although this can backfire if his opponent is good at crossing but his speed makes up for any lost ground. Martin is known for only being able to play on the right side of the field and normally played poorly in the center and left side of the field.

#8- Mathew Alexander Creasmen [Carter Villa F.C]
Height: 6'1 - Weight: 174 - Age: 17 - Substitute

Defensive Midfielder:

#10- Marco Hernandez Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’8 - Weight: 145 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter
Hernandez begun his soccer career playing for a local youth league team, He left the team during his first year of high school to play for a minor league team. He played up and down seasons for six years, Four of those years he played on his high schools varsity team to. His six season at the age of 20 was his most successful and his team won the minor league championships. Hernandez was signed by Ceceila United F.C and listed in there reserves. During his first season in the reserves he played two games and did well in both. He is suspected to be a starter for the team next season. Hernandez surprisingly was selected to play for the national team after a excellent show at the national training camp.

Hernandez is known for his nice crosses and his ability to slide tackle well, He is not the fastest player but not the slowest either. He struggles with finding and then passing to a man, Whether he kicks it out or down the field if pressured too much.

#12- Zahhere Amadeus Abdul [Riverton F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158 lbs - Age: 19 - Substitute

Left Midfielders:

#11- Anthony Don Crox [Devonta City Capitals]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 161 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter
Crox did not start playing soccer till he was sixteen years old, Playing for his local high school team and managing to bring them to two city wide championships both years, But his team lost on the state level. By the time he graduated he received a scholarship to play for Kanza University and he took it over three other scholarships. He played for Kanza University for two seasons and helped them win one championship. After two years he was offered a large contract lasting two years with the Devonta City Capitals, A minor league team. In his first season he played well and his the Capitals made it to the finals but were defeated 1-0. Crox was one of the few minor league players invited to the national teams training camp and in an impressive feat was selected to play for the national team.

Crox is better suited for defense then he is on the offense, That is one reason he plays as a defensive midfielder. Known in the minor leagues for being able to mark men and pass, Although he is also known for being too aggressive and bad crossing. Crox as shown he can learn more from his more professional teammates and is very promising.

#13- Nicolas Xavier Fulton [Mandiana F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158 lbs - Age: 18 - Substitute

Right Midfielders:

#14- Tyre Irving Edwards [Harding F.C]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 179 lbs - Age: 20 - Starter

#15- Julius Xander Washington [Mandiana F.C.]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 171 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Washington begun playing soccer at a young age for local youth leagues around it hometown. When he attended high school he chose to continue to play for local youth teams instead of his high school. When he graduated after limited success in the youth league other than a few awards, He attended George Town State University and played two surprisingly well seasons for his team, Breaking his universities record for assists and sending them to the semi-finals his last year. Before signing a two year contract with Mandiana F.C., An emerging professional soccer club. In his first year as a substitute he played well and helped the team to the semi-finals. Washington was invited to tryout at the national teams training camp and he soon accepted the invitation, After hard work and a determined effort Washington was selected for the national team.

Washington is a moderately fast midfielder who is very versatile, Although he plays better on the offense. His abilities to control the ball and keep it are widely noted. He struggles with finding openings to pass but shows he is willing to learn from more senior players on his team.

#16- Alexander Graham Jones [Mariner F.C.]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 154 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Alexander played soccer for his local youth soccer league before he joined his high schools varsity soccer team leading them to a city wide championship twice in his four years of playing for his high school, After high school he managed to get signed onto a minor league where he played two great seasons but with limited success. Recruiting agents for major league soccer watching one of his games decided to work out a contract with Jones. Jones signed a two year contract with Mariner F.C., In just one season he helped his team to the quarter-finals and became a noted player. Jones received an invite to the national teams training camp for tryouts and proudly accepted it, After a superb effort he managed to make the national team.

Jones is a good passer and knows how to keep tempo with the game. He plays better on the right side of the field and lacks crossing capabilities.

Offensive Midfielders:

#17- Kyle Tallahassee Jr. [Riverton F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 162 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter

#18- DeMarie Franz Burton [Nordland F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 164 lbs - Age: 20 - Substitute

Forwards:

#19- Lamar Samuel Adams [Danza F.C.]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 157 lbs - Age: 17 - Starter
Adams attended the Dock City Soccer Academy most of his child life, He quickly made himself known and became noted around the United States of Devonta, Helping his college expand their soccer dynasty. By the age of 17 he was already in talks with the professional league, He signed with Danza F.C. for two years in a deal that was reported around the nation. Adams became the youngest player in the league when he signed his contract. His first year at Danza F.C. went well but his team only made it to the quarter-finals. Adams was invited to the national teams training camp and proudly accepted, It was no surprise when he was chose as a starting forward, Making him the youngest player on the national team.

Adams is a quick versatile Forward, Using his speed to make good crosses and get through defenders, His dribbling and control are also noted. Shooting seems almost basic to him. Adams has also shown is worth defending using his speed. Adams sometimes gets too frustrated or has problems with bragging about his goals.

#20- Condor Jesse Madrid [Riverton F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158 lbs - Age: 19 - Starter

#21- Jeremy Jackson Creeds [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 162 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute

Kits

Image
Home - Away - Reverse

Like the national team, the Equestrian U-21 squad receives its kits from two different companies, though the design for each is the same. Kits for the humanoid players (see above) are provided by Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia, while those for equine and other non-humanoid players are provided by Generosity Sporting Equipment. The Equestrian kits were designed to be simple and easy to identify, using the national colors of purple and orange.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

Cosumar U21 National Team - Di Bradini Cup 32

Image

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is technically a Fiefdom, which means Cosumar is comprised of 21 historical "fiefs" which are now effectively provinces. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy and believes wholeheartedly in complete civil rights, protecting nature and exploring outer space.

Region: Atlantian Oceania

Official Nickname: Dragons

Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, White

Stadium: The Royal Palace (capacity 54,000)

Location: Ramusok, Cosumar.

Team: The roster consists of 24 players, 22 of which are human (species homo sapiens sapiens). The remaining two are Vloo (species homo cosumarensis), a humanoid race native to Cosumar. Please note that the Vloo, though not human, have no considerable physical advantage over human players. The average Vloo is about two inches taller than the average human, and they must wear different cleats due to their unique foot structure. Vloo are roughly equivalent to humans in terms of strength and speed, but have a blue taint to their skin and two small, dull horns on the top of their head. Most Vloo's horns are mostly covered by their thick, black hair. This Cosumarite team features an emphasis on surgically-precise passing and technical possession football.

Kit

Image

The senior National Team has just received its new kits from Meski Soccer Store, to be used in AOCAF 45 and WC70 and beyond. Since it should be an honor of great prestige to don the uniform of the National Team (one that must be earned), our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U21 Team will wear the old kits of the senior National Team (provided by Barrengeka Kits), used from World Cup 54 to 69 and decommissioned earlier this month. These are pictured above. Like the current National Team kit, both the home and away jerseys make heavy use of the national colors (blue, white, silver), while the keeper's uniform is gold and green - the royal family's colors.

"So, these 23 guys want to play soccer?" asked Prime Minister President to his Sports Chief. "Yes, sir," said I've Been Kidnapped By Terrorists. "It seems they are the only 23 in the country who know how to play, and they're all under 21, so they can compete at the Di Bradini Cup. Is this ok, Mr. President?"

"Yeah, go for it, or my name isn't I'm The President," answered the esteemed Prime Minister. "Send them to Equestrian States to compete, and maybe let them compete in the next World Cup. Just make sure that once some of them turn 21, we have other athletes to compete in this tournament."

"Yes, sir."

The Secretary of Defense walked into the Prime Minister's Office. "You called me?" asked Yes Sir.

"No, sir" replied the Prime Minister.

Then the Deputy Prime Minister walked into the office. "That's me," said Yes Sir's younger brother, No.

"I wasn't talking to you," replied Prime Minister President, just as Senator That's Me walked into his office after hearing his name. "Oh, I'll get him too then," he said, and walked out. A short while later, he came back in with his colleague, I Wasn't Talking To You. "GET OUT!" screamed the Prime Minister, and the third and final member of the National Senate, Ms. Get Out, walked in. "My, aren't we crowded?" she asked. All of a sudden, the Prime Minister's dog came running into the office and started licking Get Out. "He comes whenever you call him," said the Prime Minister. "He's a very obedient dog."

"I hate dogs," said I Wasn't Talking To You. A cat then moseyed in from near the office and began meyowing. "Who is this?" asked That's Me. "That's my cat, I Hate Dogs" answered the Prime Minister. "Have you forgotten that this is also my residence?" "But if you hate dogs, why do you own one," asked I've Been Kidnapped By Terrorists, who was still patiently waiting to finish working out the details of sending the soccer team to the Equestrian States.

"Ok, everyone get out except for I've Been Kidnapped By Terrorists" shouted the Prime Minister. "I'll issue a national security warning, sir" replied his security guard. "No, that's actually his name," replied Prime Minister President. But it was too late. The entire country was on lockdown for eight hours before they realized it was a false alarm. Eventually, the Prime Minister and the Sports Chief managed to work out the details of the trip to Equestrian States for the competition. Prime Minister President would propose before the three-member Senate that funding be allocated to the soccer team for the Di Bradini Cup. The President would have to once again apply for funding for the Baptism of Fie and World Cup Qualifying should they wish to do so.

A day later, the Senate voted on the funding measure, with I Wasn't Talking To You and That's Me voting in favor of the measure and Get Out voting against in protest of the "despicable conduct the Prime Minister showed in his office yesterday." However, the majority vote was enough for it to pass, and Prime Minister President signed it into law, allowing the team to depart. They arrived in Salt Lick City a while later and began preparing for their three matches of the qualifying stage.

Later, Prime Minister President realized that his nation would need to play its home games during World Cup Qualifying at some stadium. He contacted I've Been Kidnapped By Terrorists to determine a suitable venue. Eventually, they decided that they would use the soccer field in Insert Park Name here, the largest park in Error 458-No Nation Found. The field would be called Park Park. There is no permanent seating there but fans could bring their own lawn chairs and sit behind the fence for free. It would be a good way to encourage people to come early to get good seats. And they could even sell lawn chairs for a few Credit Card System is Downs to raise money for the program. Here is what it looks like. On one side, there is a building with restrooms. On one side, there is a tall chain link fence to protect the street. Nobody could sit on that side. On the other two sides, there are short chain link fences and people could set up their lawn chairs or buy lawn chairs for 25 Credit Card System is Downs to raise money for the program. But the World Cup Qualifying wouldn't start for a month or two. Right now, they need to worry about the Di Bradini Cup.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This will be the first time that Abanhfleft will participate in either the Di Bradini Cup or the U21 World Cup, which is actually just the same thing. Due to a scheduling mixup, most of the best players of Abanhfleft's U21 squads in both men and women's teams are participating in differing continental tournaments, and therefore the country is stuck with players that are usually substitutes or in the reserves. But that doesn't mean that there aren't a few diamonds in this motley collection of leftover players. A few players to watch out for are Rory Edwards, younger brother of Abanhfleft men's national team captain Luke Edwards; Yoshinobu Mori, the impressive Japanese-born youngster that had been convinced to play for his mother's home nation; and Karen Villegas, widely considered to be the "super-sub" of the Fleftic women's U21 team.

OOC: I'm replacing my original RP with this, because I felt it was a little "empty" and I wasn't satisfied with it.
Chris' Ramblings
Your source for football gossip, all throughout Tumbra

Chris Henderson, 26 September

Well, our boys (our under-21 boys that is) have reached the Equestrian States, home to the next Di Bradini Cup. It's our first appearance in the tournament-frankly speaking, I don't have high expectations.
Our three matches, in order, are:
27 September: vs Wolfbenz
28 September: vs Fenbar
29 September: vs Thatius
Yes, we have never come up against them before, but to be honest, I don't see us making it through. Maybe we'll miraculously win, maybe we won't, but here are my predictions.

vs Wolfbenz: We lose 3-1

Wolfbenz are a strong side, and I really think they will top the group, so they will make a mauling out of us.

vs Fenbar: We draw 2-2

We will draw this; we don't have their roster yet so who knows what will happen.

vs Thatius: We win 1-0

If Stoff fails to even win one game, then he must be sacked. Again, we don't have their roster yet so who knows what will happen.

So, we'll get 4 points, presumably finish third and get kicked out...

Our tournament hasn't got off to a good start (Adler Sport's kits not being done) and this is frankly, not the way you want to start a tournament.

That's all for now. Goodbye!

Murin, Estenia,
Murin International Airport,
27 Celsius, Sunny,
1400 Local Time

As they reached the airport, the coach held them up before leaving to the Equestrian States and as such he started talking

"Boys, most of you just entered the Adulthood, a very nice period for both soccer and military, tommorow, we will arrive to the well-known nation for ponies, Equestrian States. In that contry you must show and prove yourselves by playing the best soccer you've every played and give the best to achieve a win, that U21 Football Competition well known as both Di Bradini and U21 World Cup has reacvhed its 32nd and 53rd edition repsectively. Me being a fan of Di Bradini as well as most of you guys thinks that it's a great honour playing for the tournament in it's first edition outside Starblaydia, the nation of this star footballer. Are there any questions regarding the tournament before we leave?"

then star player Yuri Makareshi as anyone else, didn't know that Estenian U21 National Football Team had reached the Final group stage, not knowing their opponents yet and he asked

"A question that everyone of us has in mind but did we reach the Qualifying Group Stages or the Finals Group Stages? A good answer may solve our problems in training schedules and such."

then Andrei Stampov having completely forgotten of saying that the Estenians had reached the Finals Group Stages, he said

"Oh I am really sorry of forgetting telling you that but... we are in the Finals Groups Stages and we will wait until October 4th for our Premier Games in Di Bradini Cup. But don't worry you'll have both a useful time for both resting and training and we will play our games fresh and ready, I know most of you after the tournament will have some games for the UICA competitions but you know that the season will go well, very well. Let's get inside the airplane it's getting warmer out here."

and then all the players just answered by saying

"Yes, coach."

and everyone got in and just taken their positions to the luxurious airplane, with some opening their laptops and some others just watching television and others beng on their telephones with being wither online or listerning to song when the plane started moving and reached the height of 10.000 feet, everyone just saw Estenia as in the map and they were just leaving their continent to head of to another one nearby. The travelling would take 20 hours but it would certainly be very good for the players.

Training Plans Room

The coaches were planning their squad tactics and the basice formation, which players being in the basic lineup ad which players being on the bench. And so the assistant coach named Marko Lemifei said

"The best tactic for winning this tournament is 4-4-2 in diamond formation and just playing tyhe game having the ball most of the time on our feet, great players for that are Yuri Makareshi and Ilya Arnautov, because they know how to keep the ball on their feet and how to make good in-game tactics so they can do the excellent score. Yuri Makareshi, come from a successful International Firestorm Cup with Jelle FC finishing in the Quarter Finals. Yuri Makareshi can do an explosion on the game for sure, we need him."

the main coach then agreed and nodded to him with agreement and after that, he said

"Yeah but we need also the forwrd players, where the ball is going to get to them, Filipp Orgonov and Marko Mistrevich made excellent performances together in the last training, they are the strongest attack duo on Estenia in my mind after Yuri Makarov left, leaving Yuri Avchenko as a lone stallion in the Jelle FC offence, bad move Jelle FC, bad move. But at least Yuri scored 5 goals in his first half seson with Stoneshore United. Now let's just give hands and agree that as our main plan."

then they gave hands with each other and left to sit down to their positions.

SEMARLAND NATIONAL UNDER-21 FOOTBALL TEAM - OFFICIAL DI BRADINI CUP 32/U21 WORLD CUP 53 SQUAD

An impressive squad has been selected for Semarland’s Di Bradini/u21 World Cup debut. Containing a mix of young professionals, first & second year scholars and even a couple of schoolboys, a mix of class, flair and strong technical ability good give Semarland a good chance of going far.

Schottia U21 Squad
Brandini Cup 32

---------------------------
Manager: John Sonny
Ass Manager: Boris Thalam
First-team Coach: Scott Peterson
GK Coach: Hannah Russell
Physio: Duncan Collison.
------------------------------

Style Modifier: +2

Jock Sonny's side come in to the Brandini cup qualifiers on the back of there success in the Olympic games, where both the men's and the women's sides made the last eight. Many of the players who featured heavily in that tournament will be in action yet again, with the men's team forming the nucleus of the U21 squad. With some over age players making way, the team is bolstered by senior team players Till Ümann, and captain Eoin Killanen. In addition to this three members of the woman's squad have been called up for the first time, as the SFA's gender integration scheme reaches its second phase.

The White and Greens will feel they have a good chance of making the finals, and Jock Sonny will be keen to catch the eye as he looks to build on his initial success with the U23 Olympic side. The team play a flexible 4-5-1, with Ümann looking to get forward to support lone striker Glen Stephens. Also look to captain Eoin Killanen, normally suited to a more attacking role, to take every opportunity to join the attack. The formation could also look more like a 4-3-3 at times as Warriors' Craig O'Maramy is another player with a reputation for getting among the goals.

In defence there is a mixture of youth and experience with players such as Scott Burton and Larry Watt, both of whom have close to 100 first team appearances already for their clubs. In contrast there are also places for Gareth Souter and Paul Doig, the two teenagers have recently broken into the first teams of Handon United and Port Sebastian respectivly. Providing cover to the back four is the ever dependable Thio Crillin, the Hollin man is also the team vice-captain.

Squad:

GK. Jeremy McNott, Handon United, 20. Height: 186cm. Weight: 83kg
Although Jeremy McNott has spent most of his senior career keeping the Handon United bench warm, the 20-year-old has been capped for Schottia at U15, U19, and U21 level and is regarded one of the nations top up and coming keepers. A good shot-stopper and commanding in the air, he no doubt has a big future in the game.

RB. Larry Watt, Marionville, 21. Height: 180cm. Weight: 75kg
One of the standout players for Marionville, and an important part of the Schottic U23s team who reached the Olympic Q-finals. The speedy wingback is seen as a natural long-term replacement to Handon United right-back Jack Gordon.

LB. Paul Doig, Port Sebastian, 19 Height: 175cm. Weight: 65kg
Paul Doig is yet another member of the Port Sebastian golden generation; although it's unknown how long the club will be able to keep this group of players together. Doig can fill in at centre-back, and his long throws have the ability to cause defences problems.

CB. Gareth Souter, Handon United, 18 Height: 188cm. Weight: 79kg
At the tender age of 18 Gareth Souter was a somewhat surprise inclusion in the in the Olympic squad earlier in the month. The youngster burst into the Handon United first team at the tail end of last season, taking advantage of injuries. Since then he has put in some impressive performances, showing skill and composure far beyond his years. A good all-round defender, Souter is technically excellent and a great reader of the game.

CB. Scott Burton, Lammerton City, 21 Height: 179cm. Weight: 69kg
Scott Burton has been in and around the Lammerton City first team for a few seasons now and brings some much-needed first team experience to this U21 side.

RM. Craig O' Maramy, New Belfast Warriors, 21 Height: 177cm. Weight: 62kg
One of the main reasons the Warriors have been tipped as potential title challengers this season is Craig O'Maramy. The right sided midfielder has defences the length of the country running scared with his pace and power. O'Maramy got off to a strong start this season with three goals in his opening three games.

LM. Christopher Dickson, Handon United, 20 Height: 181cm. Weight: 74kg
Christopher Dickson has the daunting task of living up to Gaston Avelione this season, being his opposite number on the left wing. A difficult experience for any young player, but one he seems to be relishing. Dickson is another pacey winger with bags of stamina and work ethic.

CM Thio Crillin, Hollin, 21 Height: 188cm. Weight: 88kg
Crillin is a player on the verge of making the full national team. The Belkar boy, born and bread is a fan's favourite already with the Hollin support. Crillin has been compared to Handon United and Schottia captain Colin Donaldson, and certainly has the balance and passing ability to match. He is able to anchor the midfield and control the tempo of the game with his composure.

CM Eoin Killanen, Lammerton, 20 Height: 176cm. Weight: 70kg c
With 24 senior caps and 7 goals captain Eoin Killanen is the player in the squad with the most international pedigree. The Lammerton player normally operates anywhere in attacking midfield but John Sonny prefers him in the central role. The little midfielder has a keen eye for goal, however he has a tendency to be a little selfish in possession.

AMF Till Ümann, FC Soessch, 18 Height: 188cm. Weight: 83kg
The second player to be included in the squad with first team experience has, 11 caps and 3 goals. Ümann will be playing in his more familiar position, in the free role just behind the striker. It is in this position where he made his name playing for his club FC Soessch. Ümann is a very skilful player who looks to get forward at every opertunity.

CF Glen Stephens, Handon United, 19 Height: 181cm. Weight: 80kg
Glen Stephens, as young strikers go, is the full package. Playing as a lone striker for one of the top clubs in the country, he has all the experience needed to lead the line for the Schottic U21s.

Subs:

GK. Scott Torrance, FC Soessch, 19. Height: 190cm. Weight: 88kg
DF. Nathan Snell, La Gorlions, 19. Height: 184cm. Weight: 78kg
DF. Jena Koemann, Handon Ladies, 21. Height: 165cm. Weight: 53kg
DF. Desmond Dispson, Soessch, 20. Height: 175cm. Weight: 69kg
MF. Kim Coultan, Dundee, 18. Height: 160cm. Weight: 51kg
MF. Jack Briers, New Belfast Warriors, 17. Height: 177cm. Weight: 70kg
CF. Fred Dawson, Port Sebastian, 20. Height: 182cm. Weight: 75kg
CF. Jane Swanson, Handon Ladies, 21. Height: 174cm. Weight: 64kg

Of the new crop, full-backs Evrard-LeCuyer and Iturrigatza are already in and around the senior squad, with both about ready to replace messrs Tal and Polsson as first-choice full-backs for the Bulls, with fellow wide-men Pascal Orizaga and Jean-Pierre Corbijn a touch behind in the pecking order. The strength and depth in defence isn't quite mimicked in attack, however. Strikers Urrunaga and Galling are products of good academies and already have a season each of LigAnaia football under their respective belts - Urrunaga with a championship winners medal to show for it after a dozen appearances throughout the season - but neither has shown form at U21 level and, as such, sprightly seventeen year-old Cazadores centre-forward Espiridon Caszely has been given the nod to lead the one-man strike-force. He will depend largely on a five-man midfield for service, with Catharan playmaker Janos Hufschmied - given the captaincy for the tournament - expected to run things in the middle.

The Local Brewery

Part 1

A grey mist spread across the beach, up over the grassy dunes and out onto the old black cobblestone road that separated the houses of Gullane from the sea. The tide was in, currently tucked up tight reducing the white sandy beach to a fringe along the coastline. Early spring in the Belker region of Schottia always felt somehow mystical as the first shoots of green and the initial snowdrop flower poked their heads up through the freshly thawed earth. Gullane was the sort of place where, despite nothing ever happening, there was always a hive of activity. It was a village where everybody knew everyone else’s business, where you couldn't say a simple 'how do you do' without getting a long answer. The village had one small food store, a paper shop, a butcher's, and three pubs, one of which was attached to the local bowling green.

The majority of people in Gullane were employed in the local vineyards, winery and brewery, just like their parents had been before them, and their parents before that. All three establishments, including one of the pubs, the food store the butcher, the bowling club and most of the surrounding farm land were all part of the same co-operative ownership scheme, of which most of the villagers were members.

Danny O'Maramy lived with his wife Hazel, and their son Peter in a small terrace house facing out towards the sea. His eldest son Craig had moved out a few years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer, and in a town where nothing ever happened, this was big news. The news had succeeded in making Danny something off a local celebrity; everywhere he went he was that boy with the footballer for a son.

Today was no different, and as the community bus bobbed up and down along the country road taking Danny to the brewery at which he worked, there was no shortage of co-workers queuing up to ask him how Craig was getting on.

'So when did Craig find out he'd made the squad?' Asked Vic Cullens, an elderly man who had worked at the brewery for as long as Danny had ever known. Danny himself was already in his mid-fifties, so Vic must have been eighty if he was a day. He still went to his work though. He was waiting at the bust stop at 6:30 every morning, four days a week; come rain or shine, wind or snow. Vic was one of those people who you knew would keep working until the day he passed away.

The squad he was referring to of course was the U21 squad for the Di Bradini cup, and with the qualifiers due to kick of any day now, the O'Maramys were set to be in the spotlight even more than usual. The match dates had already been written up on the blackboard outside the pubs, who had ordered in extra beer and snacks for the nights the games were on.

'I guess it didn't come as too much of a surprise to him Vic.' Answered Danny rubbing the last of the sleep from his eyes. 'But the squad was finally confirmed on the 24th.' It never seemed to matter to Danny how many years he worked these early mornings, he never got used to getting up at half five.

'And are you going to the pub on Saturday night then to watch the game?' There was a small group of people gathered around them, no doubt upsetting the bus' balance, all hanging on Danny's every word.

'Well, we were going to stay in, but then though, maybe we are better making a night of it.' He gave them the answer they were all hoping for. Sitting in the pub watching the game would be nothing if they couldn't study Danny and Hazel's reactions to Craig's involvements. That was the crucial thing. When they were all along there, waving their Schottic flags, or Belker flags, it wasn't totally about supporting either, it was about supporting Craig and through him, their community as a whole.

'That's good' Said Vic beaming from ear to ear, patting Danny on the shoulder. 'Barbara and I are coming along too. It will be nice to see you both there.'

The line of questioning continued at the same steady pace until the bus finally came to a stop in the yard outside the brewery. The driver opened the doors and switched off the ignition, all was suddenly quiet as the workers trooped out into the forecourt. The cool, early spring breeze was in their faces, casting away any lingering cobwebs. Danny, for now was safe from the questioning, they had beer to brew.

Style of Play

Adam Castronova has forced the Royals into a counterattack-based kamikaze attack. The offense is regularly encouraged to make runs into the box, using "an aggressive mistake is not a mistake" as their mantra, and the defense is based off of the twin pillars of getting the ball and not letting it in.

At keeper, Reginald Apostaza is solid. He isn't the best at keeping it out of the net, but his reflexes and foot skill ensure that if he does catch up to it, the attack almost always falters. The defense around him tends to worry more about not letting it in, and their agility lets them stay between their man and the ball. Based off of man-movement and stifling opponent's passing, the defense tends to let a few more in than they should, a result of aggression, but does their job well enough.

The defensive mid Carmichael tends to factor more in a more possession-based game, but Ryan Cartwright is the option should the team want to switch to a 5-4-1. The halfbacks are either setting up offensive "waves" or making runs down the wings. Inriquez is particular is dangerous at this front.

The strikers are built to score in any position, and Kristopher Nilssen is one of the best at this. His substitute Merill is a more laid-back player, tending to stay outside and fire shots at the goal.

The Felixian Under Twenty One National Football Team

Introduction-

Felix (for the most part) is a free nation once again and the FFA is sending its first Nationalist Republic-free influenced team to an multiversial tournament since the beginning of the 69th edition of the World Cup. The U-21 team presented here though, is heavily influenced by the two Olympic teams the Nationalists sent just before their fall. Ho Weon Han, the supposedly politically neutral coach and surprise signing from the Kingdom of Quebec revived the confidence in the U-21 program to everyone associated with Felixian football after a strong finish (quarterfinals) with the men's team and a gold finish with the women's team. Despite Han being hired during the Nationalist era, the new FFA decided to continue the previous contract made with him. And to be honest why wouldn't they? The team Mr. Han assembled looks strong and for the first time since the U-21 World Cup after the 4th place finish, countless fans of Felixian football are excited for a U-21 team. Another added note for the good is that many pundits all over the multiverse agree this might be Felix's best shot at a strong finish (semifinalist or higher) in a very long time. Wow. So with all that in the news and in the player's faces, Felix will fly to Equestrian States, a ally for the Free Felixian rebels during the civil war and the current host of the DBC, in hopes of using that momentum for good. The formation Han will be using is different compared to the one deployed by senior national team coach, Ishikawa Haruka, a 3-4-1-2. But maybe this is what the under twenty national team needed, a new formation and most importantly a roster that has been handpicked by a coach that did remarkably well this Olympic season. So with that in mind, here is the 53rd U-21 World Cup/32nd Di Bradini Cup roster for Felix!

Players To Watch-

Bernat Picasso: Despite his men's team finishing (in comparison to the women's team) a measly quarterfinalist, Bernat was a key to that finish. He made some big saves especially in a oddly tough Peruvian Highlands-Felix match where he made 8 game saving saves for Felix and had he not had a weird training injury in the lead up to the Free Swiss States, we would probably be talking about him getting gold too. But he didn't which is going to make him hungry for championships, especially since this is his last year of eligibility for a U-21 team. He will start as soon as the qualification stage ends since he will probably recover from that training injury just in time for the kickoff in the Equestrian States. And that's great for Felix as the coach, Ho Weon Han, named him team captain of the team.

Ulrika Kistner: Before the start of the Olympics when this name was mentioned you might've said who? Even to some hardcore Trieste fans Kistner was something of an enigma. Sure, she made some starts in matches but she didn't make a huge impact especially considering how solid Trieste's defensive line was for the past two years. But right after her game winning tying header in 69th minute in the women's football final that eventually lead to a Felixian victory over San Jose Guayabal she has been widely known to everyone in Felix. She is tall, yet has good jumping skills. Plus, she has a wicked header and can stay with most attackers on the pitch. If that doesn't convince you to keep tabs on her, then watch her play in the U-21 World Cup.

León Félix: In Spanish he is called, "El Niño Maravilla" and in English he is called, "The Wunderkind". Use any language in Felix and you'll probably call 20 year old midfielder, León Félix of Real Santa Maria, "a boy wonder" he is that good. With his tricky feet and a solid opposite foot, he will beat you from anywhere. Is it because he was picked up by a Wightling team and received career boosting football training and knowledge? Or is because he truly is, amazing? We'll never know that (especially considering the nation of Wight ceased to exist) but we do know this kid will have to be watched by everyone. He will either pass through a opposing defender in a cheeky way, score a goal from a free kick or better yet, give off a nice cross to the head of his teammates.

Ana Baptista: Ignored, would be the right word to describe this footballing rising star's life on the pitch. She was ignored in Altomare B and Altomare when she was promoted. But when she started for Altomare last season in the FCL she made her mark and many fans of Altomare and Felix are excited for what's to come for the following years. Coupled by that and her amazing job in the Olympic women's football she certainly has elevated her stock in the Felixian footballing world. If everything goes as planned expect this girl to raise some eyebrows of other people and make a lasting impact for the Felixian U-21 National team.

The Forwards of Felix: Okay, this is weird, right? How could we ask you to watch all five forwards of Felix? But think about it, there is only one clear starter. The rest? All contesting for a spot as starter, meaning you might see Nicolas Costa pairing up with, well, anyone, really and knowing how good the front was in both men's and women's Olympic football, there wouldn't be a change, each pairing (with or without Costa) would look stunning and if everything falls exactly where Han wants it, it will be unstoppable. Plus, the advantage of a not so clear starter is that it will be unpredictable. Meaning more good news for this considerably strong Felixian side.

"Boys, you did a great job out there today and deserved the win. I'll be looking at playing some of our second choice players next game, to rest some of you. Hmmm..." Coach Robin Stoff said, peering down at his clipboard.
"We were pretty strong in midfield, so kudos to that, Don, Jeremy and Eric. However, looking at it, the wingers were pretty disabled by the Wolfbenz defence, so please make sure to be able to either run faster, or outmuscle future left or right backs. Apart from that, I think we did pretty well."
"Coach..." Ed Whittaker raised his hand.
"Yes, Ed?"
"What formation are Fenbar gonna play in?"
"I don't know. They don't have a roster. We'll find out tomorrow."
"Yes Coach."
"Alright, let's get on the bus and head back to the hotel."

The Kolbenz Times

Dire Wolves Beaten in Closing Minutes Against Tumbra

Fillydelphia, Equestrian States-In a game where we held our heads up high in the opening minutes, being called a strong side by the Tumbran media, Wolbenz held their heads high for their first game in the Di Bradini Cup Qualifying stages.

Afterwards, Wolfbenz lost the match 3-2 by the Tumbrans, with a great header by left back Edward Whittaker in the 93rd minute.

There were great expectations for new manager Oskar Neuhaus in his first game of the group, being the former manager of the Aalso Klub youth squad, he was chosen by the assosiation a few months before the tounament to manage the Wolfish u-21 team, and there were pretty lofty standards placed on his shoulders before the tounament started.

"Oskar has been a great guy to work with so far," spoke assistant manager Klaus Kjranski spoke in the post-match conference after the match, "and I hope he is not sacked after just three games of managing the team."

In our next match, we play the U-21 team of Thatius. I gathered a few of those who work at the Kolbenz Times and asked them what they thought the outcome of the next match would be.

Tomas Jamiesson, Editor- "We probably will pick our heads up from this defeat and learn from our mistakes from the last match. Takala played well in the last match, and if he stays consistent we might have a chance to beat Thatius.
Prediction: Wolfbenz 2-0 Thatius

Loren Glöckner, Weatherwoman- "In my opinion, we've got this in the bag. We know what we did wrong in the last match, the manager's is probably working the team's butts off as I speak, and we have a talented squad. What could go wrong?"
Prediction: Wolfbenz 6-1 Thatius

Iisakki Brune, Bagel Stealer- "We're going to mess up again, and we're going to pay for it by not reaching the finals. Takala probably won't score as he might not get much help from the wings, and I believe that the Thatian defensive line is stronger than our offense is.
Prediction: Wolfbenz 0-4 Thatius
