Season Preview 2007 | Part 1 of 2007 | Part 2 of 2007
Part 1 of 2008 | Part 2 of 2008

The Banguelan calendar and competition format prescribes two seasons in one UICA cycle. As such, the champions should clash for the Champions’ Cup ticket, but as Uniao Mpulo dominated both editions, they automatically qualify. Other regulations are described in the opening post. I hope to finish the last post asap.

Banguela (BNG) qualifiers

Champions’ Cup: Uniao Mpulo
Globe Cup: Uniao Lumpala, Sporting Clube Bassuto, Atletico Ntangele
SBCC: Associaçao Bassuto, Academica Bassuto, Zambare Nacional

CEdC: Uniao Mpulo, Uniao Lumpala
Cygnus Cup: Uniao Lumpala

Church League Associated Godlands, Season 3

Note: As players on Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never get injured and rarely get worse, the club cut off their B and C teams. Members of those teams formed new, independent teams, Friends of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Acquaintances of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The government of the Theocracy of Associated Godlands believes that they should be permitted into UICA competitions henceforth.

Here are summaries of the teams:

Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Notable Players*:
GK Pope Francis - 79 years old - Solid keeper, but his progressive "sweeper keeper" style can get out of hand
LB Matthew - Very old - Loyal teammate
CB Peter - Very old - Loyal teammate
CB John - Very old - Loyal teammate
RB Judas Iscariot - Very old - Seems like a loyal teammate
LW Martin Luther - 533 years old - Dared to question authority, and now the team is better for it
CDM David Duke - 65 years old - The replacement for sinner Billy Graham and then sinner Barack Obama, full of team spirit and hatred of opponents
CAM Joel Osteen - 52 years old - Another passionate but coachable player
RW Adam - Very old - Very good player, but poor diet and often out of shape/sick
ST Tim Tebow - 28 years old - Very loyal and a hard worker, but lacks any talent whatsoever
ST Mother Teresa - 105 years old - Also a hard worker, Mother Teresa has a lot more talent than her striking partner
GK Judas - Very old - Loyal teammate
GK Bartholomew - Very old - Loyal teammate
LB Thomas - Very old - Loyal teammate
CB Philip - Very old - Loyal teammate
CB James - Very old - Loyal teammate
RB Simon - Very old - Loyal teammate
LW Pope Benedict XVI - 88 years old - Coming out of retirement to help Associated Godlands and Church of the Lord and Saviior Jesus Christ
CDM Jude - Very old - Brother of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but not nearly as good.
CAM Pope John Paul II - 95 years old - Coming out of retirement and back from the dead (conjured up by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ) to fill the void left by Joel Osteen, who mad sit into the starting XI after the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ left for Eastfield Lodge.
RW Chuck Norris - 75 years old - He doesn't worship God. God worships him. (The fact that he doesn't worship God is also the reason that he's on the bench)
ST George W. Bush - 69 years old - Passionate and loud
ST Ted Cruz - 45 years old - Another passionate player
Predicted finish: 1st

Friends of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Notable Players:

Ryan's friends
Ryan and his friends go to church regularly and espouse hateful viewpoints, so God likes them. However, they aren't quite as good as the Church team.
Predicted finish: 2nd

Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ C Team
Notable Players:
Sarah
Sarah's friends
Sarah and her friends are like the B Team, but they are women.
Predicted finish: 3rd

What bookies predicted would be a razor-thin title race turned into one of the most lopsided national championships in Omerican history. Taking the lead in the fourth week and surrendering it only once and only briefly, La Corona cruised to a near-undefeated season, blemished only by a Week 4 loss on course to an eighteen-point margin of victory over runners-up United Philibiscostal. Royal Michaeltown saw the wind return to their sails after a disappointing title defence, while hope for Royal Martecabras’s future came alive after finishing fifth in the league and holding FC Nassau to a draw in the first leg of the Globe Cup play-off. Meanwhile, Sekundliig side King of Red Lions pulled off one of the most daring upsets in Federation Cup history, knocking out the competition’s most successful side to set up and win a final against the Black Dragons of Port Michael, while FC Kingsmouth failed to keep up appearances after two glorious seasons and Ticomaça Nationale, despite claiming the Jüngeliig crown in fashion, floundered in the league and wound up dropping to the second flight for the first time in the club’s history.

FC Alopiana and Ticomaça Nationale have been relegated from Primerliig, with FC New Cardiff (league champions) and Sassari Trailblazers (play-off winners) promoted in their place. Flove Santiago and Blue Lions FC have been relegated from Försteliig, with FC Peterborough (league champions) and King of Red Lions (play-off winners) promoted in their place. Phoenix Carlisle, FC Roscommon, Gold City Rovers and AFC Simba have been relegated from Sekundliig and will be replaced by FK Soltsteed, Dope Tiger-Striped Marbles, Saint Georges Uni and Baltimore City.
2020 TAO Honours
Champions of Omerica: Corona Christiana (2nd title)

Series B Champions’ Cup 59/Youth Cup 14: Prins Mikäel Pärk, Port Michael (capacity 40,000)
Image

Named after the Soltese Prince Michael IV, the man who chartered the city of Mikäelpoort, Prins Mikäel Pärk in the Jan Ändrassen Memorial Sports Complex plays home to Royal Michaeltown, one of the rising stars of Omerican football’s modern era. The stadium boasted food vendors, free Wi-Fi and a gorgeous view of the Aurentine Bay that Port Michael sits neatly upon. With easy connections on Port Michael’s bus and metro systems and the added bonus of not being home to any potential SBCC or Youth Cup finalists, Prins Mikäel Pärk has successfully hosted the finals of Esportiva’s club championships, numerous Omerican World Cup home qualifiers and the Black Dragon’s home league and cup games.

The city sits on the coast of the Aurentine Bay, located almost centrally on the coast of the canton of Kalsden, and contains the vast bulk of Kalsden’s population. A historical, but not otherwise notable, city, Port Michael is blessed with mild winters and warm, but not particularly unbearable, summers and serves as a sort of microcosm that presents a vibrant cultural community representing the cosmopolitan nature of the Omerican federation, blending the best of disparate cultures and the best of modern and historic. Thanks to generous government grants to theatre, dance, cinema and art galleries on both the Commonwealth and cantonal level, Port Michael hosts a disproportionate number of museums and cultural events for its population and plays the part of centre to the vibrant Aurentine music festival and techno culture that travelling fans will be able to enjoy, as well as a world-class public transport and rail system to get to wherever they need to go.

Vilitan League
:: Season 48 ::

SEASON SUMMARY

Image

Image Jungle Strike FC - v. - Turoki United Image
Tivali Ring Stadium, Alikki-Corra, Vilita

The Tropical Trophy is a seasonal competition between the Vilitan Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions. There has been some controversy as to whether it is a "Season Ending" event or a "Season beginning" event, though it has tended to be closer to the start of the new season, then the end of the previous one.

For this seasons Tropical Trophy, The V-League Stellar Division Champions (Jungle Strike FC) were invited to face off against the defending Stellar Division Runners-Up and Vilitan Cup Champions (Turoki United). It was the 4th time in six seasons that the Tropical Trophy was contested between the two sides.

Jungle Strike FC [4-4-2] ::
[GK] Viliaka O'Connor (SCH), [D] Santos Alaminos (FRF), [D] Geafi Laina-Sola (TUR) [D] Benjamin Koenig (STR), [D] Tarek Edgeli (TUR), [M] Viela Lianksa (VIL), [M] Apple Cobbler (EQS), [M] Hera Teltholsyr (VAL), [M] Meldi'ita Mungwaii (TUR), [F] Friekder Dandalleion (FRF), [F] Lopaki Kilpter (VIL)

Turoki United [5-3-2] ::
[GK] Ediidi Wearna, [D] Briita Mara'a, [D] Sheik Piinea, [D] Lukiti Duiker, [D] Kam Amizic, [D] Rockii Gukisi, [M] Zeki Selolwii, [M] Tarkan Dehon, [M] Nili Lucsaa, [F] Tolo Pissas, [F] Andii Vlachoriia

Vilitan/Turorian Dual National referee Nuliko Meteorik officiated the Tropical Trophy for a record tenth consecutive season.

:: The Match

For the 7th consecutive season, a team from Turoki City was represented in the Tropical Trophy, and for the 6th time in those seven season, that team was Turoki United.

On the other bench, it was another team more than familiar with the Tivali Ring Stadium. Jungle Strike FC were making their 4th consecutive Tropical Trophy appearance, and, incredibly, their 18th appearance in the past 23 seasons making up the current 'Modern Era' of Vilitan sport.

Unlike last seasons matchup of the same two teams which greatly favored the style of Turoki United - ending in a goalless draw, Jungle Strike FC was not going to be shut out.

Strike's big new Turorian signing Meldi'ita Mungwaii playing in a slot role as the extra attacker made his presence known 11 minutes in connecting on a cross from Apple Cobbler with a volley that found the inside roof of the net.

As half time approached, the Venom would double their advantage and once again it was a ball in from Cobbler that created the chance. Viela Lianksa rose to meet the cross, towering above Briita Mara'a and heading past a rooted Wearna.

With a 2-0 lead at the half, Strike were comfortable in where they sat, particularly given the recent dearth of goals in Tropical Trophy contests. Aging Legalite Jeff Donaldson was introduced late in the match for his experience value, perhaps in his final season for Strike and would get to lift the Tropical Trophy one more time as Turoki United never looked like challenging to get back into the match.

Statwise:
:: This is Jungle Strike FC's 18th Tropical Trophy Victory in their 31st appearance
:: This is Turoki United's 4th Tropical Trophy Defeat in their 7th appearance
:: This is the 6th Tropical Trophy contested between Jungle Strike FC (4) and Turoki United (2)
:: This is the 5th Tropical Trophy that has ended in a 2-0 scoreline.

Tropical Trophy Host Site:

Tivali Ring Stadium - Alikki-Corra, Vilita (87,000 Capacity)
The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali Ring. The Football Association regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchup. In addition to its World Cup matches, 'The Ring' hosted the 40th UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup Final. The stadium was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:

While Turoki United got off to a strong start, it was quickly evident that it was not Mumau Atla-Siioai's old Turoki United squad. By midseason, the 'Silvers had suffered 5 defeats despite scoring an uncharacteristic 14 goals and found themselves on the outside looking in as far as the UICA Champions Cup places were concerned.

Major rivals Strike, on the other hand, had become a defensive wall conceding just a single goal in the first half behind the strong play of Schiavonian netminder Viliaka O'Connor - who was likely motivated by the news of his home countries return to International Competition with World Cup 78 Qualifying. Strike's only slip-up came on Matchday 6 when former long-time Strike trainee and star midfielder Jian Lejsmra - now a player/coach, scored the lone goal in Eastal Lunar's 1-0 victory at the Lonngeylin Coliseum.

That result allowed the Astronauts to keep the pace, sitting nicely in 4th place at the half, 6 points off the top and within striking distance of second place Cednia Beach and third place Turoki Tide.

At the bottom of the table, Arcticala Inlet and Turoki Isle were struggling with defeats in more than half their matches and just a single win a piece in the opening 13 games.

Rivalry Roundup ::
Turoki Tri-tilt: The first Turoki tilt of the season took place at the Turoki Community Complex and there was more scoring in the first 15 minutes between Turoki United and Turoki Isle as most Turoki tilt matches see over the course of 90 minutes. Linkat Cjinder, the lone bright spot of the first half for Turoki Isle, scored just two minutes in for the Islanders. But ths Silvers of Turoki United would respond with a quick fire brace to take a 2-1 lead after 13 minutes, a result that would stand at full time. The second match at the Community Complex would look very similar, this time with Turoki Tide taking an early lead through Cavuna Aquafek, but once again Turoki United, completely against their tradition, would run riot on the goalscoring front, equalizing 23 minutes in then scoring three more in the second half for a 4-1 lead and a quick 2-win lead in the tri-tilt. That left Turoki Tide and the Islanders to duke it out to see who would be best positioned to challenge the Silvers for the 'tilt in the second half. The struggling Islanders would falter again dropping the result to the Tide amidst rumors that star trainee Linkat Cjinder was searching for a more competitive transfer.

Battle of Turori: The seasons first battle of Turori was held in Mliona-Lpaka at the Iobabao Legendary Field. Mliona-Lpaka started strongly and got a deserved goal just past the half-hour mark through Karisto Monafog. The flow of the match changed greatly on the hour mark, however, when Mliona-Lpaka were reduced to ten men. Draugwe Nororon was finally beaten ten minutes from time after relentless pressure from Cednia Beach, Oani Moralziia converting on a quick-turning shot inside the area. The result would end tied at 1-1 ensuring that the Battle of Turori would be decided in Cednia in the return fixture.

Lonngeylin Derby: Not Contested (Lonngeylin City relegated during Season 47)

Sile Showdown: Things at the Track Venture Field ended in a drab 0-0 draw, with everyone hoping for a more exciting return fixture at Colonial Field.

2 :: [40] - Strike
3 :: [39] - Cednia Beach
4 :: [37] - Mliona-Lpaka
- :: [37] - Turoki Tide
6 :: [34] - Eastal Lunar
- :: [34] - Colonial Sile

The Championship battle was turned on its head during Matchday 22 when Turoki United, widely expected to drop out of the championship hunt during Season 48, upended leaders Strike FC to jump atop the table by a single point.

The result also allowed the field to catch up with Cednia Beach, searching for the first title in over 20 seasons just 2 points back while Mliona-Lpaka and Turoki Tide also within striking distance.

::STANDINGS WITH 1 GAME TO PLAY::
1 :: [49] - Strike
2 :: [45] - Turoki United
3 :: [42] - Mliona-Lpaka
- :: [42] - Cednia Beach
5 :: [41] - Turoki Tide

While their defeat on Matchday 22 blew the title race wide open, three straight victories for Strike shut the door on the competition with one game to play. Turoki United's defeat to Mliona-Lpaka sealed the deal with Strike comfortably beating Makosile thanks to goals from Vliela Lianksa and Meldi'ita Mungwaii.

There was still plenty to play for on the final matchday, however. Mliona-Lpaka and Cednia Beach were still fighting for the Turorian crown and a place in the UICA Champions Cup, while the Turoki Tide were poised to leapfrog both should they falter. The Turorian sides also had a chance to catch Turoki United and break up the 7-season Turoki/Strike top-2 stranglehold.

THE DECISIVE FINISH:

While the title was already settled, there was still plenty to play for at the Turoki Community Complex where the Turoki Tide needed a win to jump into the top 3 while Cednia Beach were looking for a victory to keep them ahead of rivals Mliona-Lpaka and potentially into the runners up slot.

Cednia Beach struck first but the Tide clawed back to take a 1-1 scoreline level at the half. Things seemed to be going splendidly for the Coconuts as the point was looking to be enough to keep them ahead of Mliona-Lpaka who were being held by already-relegated Turoki Isle. It all changed in the 89th minute however and the home crowd went crazy as the Tide took the lead, instantly switching places in the table with Cednia Beach and jumping into the top 3. The Full time whistle would follow shortly after and the Tide had pulled off the unlikely final-day leapfrog of the two Turorian sides.

Strike's championship ceremony had an unhappy ending as they suffered a meaningless 0-2 defeat to Rammsissil, helping the Ramms pull clear of the relegation zone and sending Arcticala Inlet to their fate back in the Declasse Division.

Rivalry Roundup ::
Turoki Tri-tilt: 1st Half (Turoki United [6pts]; Turoki Tide [3pts]; Turoki Isle [0pts])
Turoki United all but secured the Turoki Tri-Tilt with their 1-0 win over Turoki Isle on Matchday 17 but there was still hope for the Tide to come back and pull level if they could upend their ground-sharing rivals. The Tide needed their result but they didn't get it as Turoki United completed a clean sweep of their rivals in Season 48 and strung together their 6th straight victory in the tilt. The Tide would make it a clean bill by defeating Turoki Isle 2-0 in a send off match as Turoki Isle's relegation was confirmed after the match, ensuring the Turoki Tri-tilt would be relegated to a Two-Team Turoki Tilt for Season 49.

Battle of Turori: 1st Half (Mliona-Lpaka 1-1 Cednia Beach)
After a draw at the Iobabao Legendary Park, the Battle of Turori would be settled at the Cednia Beach Centre. The home crowd was silenced when Mliona-Lpaka scored in the opening minute, and the silence was deafening in the 23rd minute when Kigaoua Oalalka doubled the visitors advantage. While Cednia Beach would claw one back it would not be enough as Mliona-Lpaka would re-claim the battle after losing to Cednia Beach the season before. To make matters worse for Cednia Beach, a last minute goal in the league would cause them to lose the War as well, dropping one place behind their rivals in the league table.

Lonngeylin Derby: Not Contested (Lonngeylin City relegated during Season 47)

Sile Showdown: 1st Half (Colonial Sile 0-0 Makosile)
A penalty kick in the 77th minute was the difference in the Sile Showdown, as Majid Jedidi handled inside the box for the Makos and the resultant penalty kick was converted by Inlite Makakio.

Vilitan Cup Final:

While their campaign in the Stellar Division had gone horribly - bottom of the table Turoki Isle had found new life in the Vilitan Cup competition, reaching the final for just the second time in club history as they looked to avenge their Season 9 defeat to the Yeaddin Owls by working their way to the first major silverware in club history.

Standing in their way, however, would be the Stellar Division champions Jungle Strike FC who had won 4 of the previous 6 Vilitan Cup championships.

It wouldn't take long, however, for Turoki Isle's dreams to be crushed once again.

Just 10 minutes into the game and the Islanders were already down to 10 men after a boneheaded play by their primary attacker.

Nili Ylimaiina netted for Strike shortly after and the favorites were up 1-0 at the half.

As play resumed, Strike would not relent and maintained the majority of the possession throughout. Hera Teltholsyr doubled the advantage for Strike on the hour mark before star player Apple Cobbler sealed the deal 15 minutes from time as Strike would make it a clean sweep for the second time in the modern era, claiming all three major trophies - the Tropical Trophy, Stellar Division and Vilitan Cup titles.

Tropicorp Cup History
1: Morata Valley 0–1 Jaguar Moreda
2: Tkaob Inlands 0–2 Vilisorma
3: Corra Rangers 1–0 Terrarokka United
4: Tropicorp FC 1–1 Alikki Locals (2–1 AET)
5: Riailia Village 0-1 Cedniavella

The Crosaibi Locals finished atop the Tropicorp Lower League table for the second consecutive season and entered the Tropicorp Cup Qualification round for the third time in as many seasons, looking to finally break through for a return to the Declasse. This time, there would be no heartache.

The Locals scored early, and often, taking a 3-0 lead into the half and defending it through full time to finally secure promotion back to the primary echelon of the Vilitan system at the expense of Akisa Surta.

In the other match, Jaguar Moreda - the first ever Tropicorp Cup champions, were looking to become the first repeat Tropicorp Cup winners and also looking to deny Sporta Eelandii a Declasse return. There has been a lot of support from the Football Association of Turori for the Eelandii based club due to the proximity and ground sharing within Eelandii. There would be even more support after the result of the Tropicorp Cup as Eelandii squeaked out a narrow 1-0 victory over the Jaguars to secure a place in the Tropicorp Cup final and in the Vilitan League for Season 49.

Undeservingly perhaps, but the result nonetheless, the Crosaibi Locals were denied their Tropicorp Cup trophy by the FA-backed Sporta Eelandii, also marking the second consecutive Tropicorp Cup triumph for a Turorian side following Cedniavella's victory over Riailia Vilage a season prior. Luckily for the Locals, they were still heading back to the Declasse to renew their rivalry with Marine Coast United.

Tropicorp Cup Qualification Round Note: Winners promoted to Vilitan League (Declasse Division)
Crosaibi Locals 3-0 Akisa Surta
Jaguar Moreda 1–2 Sporta Eelandii

Tropicorp Cup Final

Series B Champions’ Cup 59/Youth Cup 14:: Lirai Asku Castle, Yeaddin, Vilita (62,000)

Image
This historical aged castle was converted into a sporting arena by the Yeaddin Owls who promised to pay for maintenance on the Castle Exterior while building their stadium against the vacant inner walls of the structure. Despite its relatively low capacity compared with other stadiums in the Tropics of Vilita, the atmosphere provided by the Lirai Asku Castle both inside and out makes it a popular choice to host international matches in World Cup, Cup of Harmony, Baptism of Fire and AOCAF competition.

While much of the stadium and its surroundings are considered historical, there are modern amenities available as well as required to support major international sport including public transportation, vending and temperature control on an as-required basis. Media boxes, team bench areas and locker rooms are already in the process of being updated in support of a return to the Stellar Division.

The Lirai Asku Castle is also in shared proximity to the Owl's Castle Academy, a top class youth development facility home to Vilita's leading youth program who have, in recent seasons, outshown the performances of their storied parent affiliation club the Yeaddin Owls.

Turori (TUR) final site bids

Champions Cup: Eels Park, Eelandii (capacity 68,000)
The Eels Park arena in "Eelandii" - A purpose-created hybrid city located between the capital of Almintora and the center of sport in Cednia, was opened for the World Cup 63 Finals hosted in Turori as well as Aguazul. The Arena has since hosted matches during the 26th Di Bradini Cup and due to its moderate size is one of the most atmospheric venues in all of Turori. Turorian National Team matches not being held in Cednia have also been held at Eels Park instead of Almintora National Stadium.

Already the new center for sport in Turori - Most recently adding an official date on the World Grand Prix Championship tour, Eelandii would be a fitting host for the UICA Champions Cup final given the modern infrastructure and high density of sporting amenities in the region.

Yet again, Iskandervale proudly submits its champions to prove themselves in the regional sphere. This time, the surprise winners are Qarshakor despite scoring less than a goal a game and having been 7th last time around. What fun! The state of their pitch is, sadly, lamentable, and they will be playing on the 6,000-capacity Iskandabad Rectangular Stadium (won't someone sponsor it?) in order to comply with international restrictions. Many of the league's players hope to depart over the transfer window, while the low-stress semi-professional format will hopefully allow young talent to blossom to the point where they, too, can hopefully make the step up to professionalism (which Shukhrat Kozak, leaving midway through the season, has happily been the first to make). Hopefully this shall be the start of a new dawn in Iskandervale!

Another victorious performance from the Augustinople Saints, as this season marks the first non-Saints fully-professional starting lineup - both the Crowns and Apostilene managing to field such lineups at various stages! Truly the sign of a blossoming league, and certainly a wealthy one. Either way, the Saints will continue to proudly represent the team abroad, and their power in managing to win a match last time around has not escaped the Generallissimo's all-seeing gaze. Bronze statues of each of the 14 players who managed a 1-0 victory over Tanrisal have been commissioned to line the Pravenna National Park's roads! Hopefully, that was the start of many to follow!! Glory to Pravenna!!!

Ceni (CEN) final site bids
Globe Cup: Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, Cenial, capacity 85,000
Image
Newly built to host a tournament like the Baptism of Fire less than a year ago, the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium hosts most of the Cenian national team's home matches. With a capacity of 85,000, the stadium has an unique roof which is retractable in case of inclement weather, preserving the optimal climate for spectators inside the stadium. The stadium also has won plaudits from national team players who say the stadium is one of the best grass pitches they have played on. Cenial United also hosts its home matches in this stadium. The stadium is currently the biggest in all of Ceni at this point and is fairly close to both of the major airports in Ceni, easily accessible by subway to those areas as well as most other areas of Cenial. It was built by the renowned Sky High Architecture in a southern area of Ceni, near the sea.

When elected as the host of the Baptism of Fire, the Cenian FA decided to upgrade some of the facilities at the stadium, including the press box and VIP box, as well as installing WiFi access for all seats, following the example of the Alexander I National Stadium. Notably in the history of the Cenial Halcyon Stadium, Ceni has never lost at this stadium when it was first used during qualifying for World Cup 73, and the Cenian national team defeated Gregoryisgodistan on penalty kicks to qualify for its first ever World Cup. The Halcyon National Stadium counts itself as one of the greenest buildings in Ceni, making use of solar panels wherever possible, recycling water and heat through its system (so that water used to water the pitch can be used in the toilets, etc.), making use of recycled materials in constructions, and other eco-friendly measures to reduce its energy footprint.

Cygnus Cup: New Oxford Coliseum, New Oxford, capacity: 55,000
Image
While it does have a population of around one million, which sounds small by international standards, it is concentrated in a small area, making it a very dense city. New Oxford is very ethnically diverse, even more so than Cenial, with large Asian, Electrumite, and Euran populations. New Oxford is most notable for hosting the third of Ceni's major universities, the University of New Oxford, which boasts a high quality educational program. In addition to its University, with its excellent sporting facilities, New Oxford hosts a number of museums and other educational institutions, as well as science and technology based industries within its soaring, modern skyline. Besides these attractions, New Oxford has a very active nightlife, with a large number of bars and nightclubs serving the student population, and the city is a hub of cocktails and experimentation with alcohol. As such, there are quite a few drunken ramblers out at night, although many students do stay sober.

New Oxford's major team, Myrmidon, gained a new stadium recently with the construction of the New Oxford Coliseum, a stadium that seats 55,000 people. Previously, the club had made use of a stadium at the University of New Oxford, which was much smaller and not adequate as the club's fan base expanded. The stadium perhaps deserves the name of 'Millenium' more so than the actual Millenium Stadium, as it is very modern and has almost a space-age feel to it. The stadium is also totally covered with translucent panels, giving it the look of a gemstone, and also protecting the pitch from inclement weather. The Coliseum is also notable for its VIP boxes, of which it has more than your usual stadium. While fans can get a bit rowdy (New Oxford is a University town after all) and the pitch can get a pit dark, the atmosphere totally makes up for this, and teams like playing here because of that unique atmosphere.

Rushmore Copa di Campeones: Shadow B'betsy National Stadium, Cenial, capacity 63,126
Image
Shadow B'betsy Stadium served for a long time as Ceni's home stadium for World Cup matches, including the team's first ever World Cup match. The stadium also served admirably in the Cup of Harmony 63, where Ceni reached the semifinals. With the advent of the Cenian Premier League, the stadium grew ever more in demand, and 1860 Azoth and Cenial United both called this stadium home for their home matches. However as both team's fan bases grew, the stadium was no longer big enough for the teams' demands, and Cenial United began clamoring for a new stadium. The travails faced by Ceni's national team (a draw with Octinstine most notably) at this stadium also led to the construction of the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium. Nonetheless, this stadium still is Ceni's second largest stadium, a capacity of 63,126 people. Shadow B'betsy is closer to the city center of Cenial than the Halcyon Stadium, and is very accessible by subway and public transportation, as well as bicyclists.

The largest losers of the SLX Gateway Force's folding and the B League's folding was the youth side, not only meaning nine organizations fielded youth teams but eliminating chances for development with B League and the "Regional" teams, which were unaffiliated sides nonetheless supported by the B League.

SchiavOne
Season 4

After an enforced exile from competitive football, Schiavone football returned this season with a hastily organised league and cup competition. The competition was not going to take place, as Schiavone clubs had only played friendlies between one another during the interim period. However, with the SFF able to organise competition once again, with just a matter of months before the UICA deadline, five clubs were prepared enough to take part in the SchiavOne championship - the big two New Kingsbury-based teams Monarchs and Yellow Stars, the Valae-based club of the Garundi people Garundia Kickball, Craw-based cornerstone of the Cafundelese community Petardos S/A Craw and Craw's other big team, the well-financed team of immigrant workers and tourists 46ers.

The SFF and the clubs had been in discussion with COCANEFA to join LigAnaia, but by the time an agreement had been made, the current season was well under way. As a result, the SFF hastily organised a competition themselves, with the previso that the top two teams would be invited into LigAnaia East, with the remaining three teams taking places in the Repcharge. Just the five teams will be taking part this time - Craw Hawks have merged with 46ers after the big club's squad largely moved on to pastures new when the league collapsed; Project +90 closed their Schiavone club down; whilst the two other Valae clubs have reverted to the original Garundi code of Kickball. The only other team that remain are Cricket Schiavonia, but they have decided to dedicate themselves to their primary sport for the time being (even though they have no games planned), participating only in only cup competitions.

Reverting to an historical agreement made by the SFF, which stated that, should a SchiavOne league feature four or more teams, no more than 50% of competing teams could qualify for UICA from their league performance, only the top two would qualify for international competition. The only other place would be open to the Cueto Cup winners, should they not have qualified already through the league - the place could not be transferred to the league. This agreement was in order to maintain the integrity of the competition, ensuring that places in the Champions' Cup and Globe Cup are earned on merit, rather than just being given out for the sake of places being available.

Having won their first title in the final SchiavOne before the break, Yellow Stars got off to a storming start this time, winning all four of their opening fixtures and giving themselves a seven-point lead after just four games whilst the rest of the teams struggled to get going. Monarchs couldn't break down the stubborn Garundi defence and played an amazing match against Petardos, throwing away a 2-0 half-time lead before Chris Hogan scored a late equaliser to rescue a point.

Monarchs finally hit form, with two four-nil wins in a row against Petardos and a now-struggling Garundia Kickball, who had lost five in a row by the season's half way point. But the main story was when the big two met, and Monarchs crumbled as finisher Winifred Chester - thought by many as an overweight, less able version of her older sister Charlotte - scoring two and causing constant trouble for the Monarchs defence. That 3-0 win opened the gap to ten points with just eight games remaining.

Finally, Yellow Stars winning run comes to an end at the eleventh hurdle, with Petardos shutting up shop and Godiva scoring a breakaway goal. This brought the Craw outfit within four points of Monarchs - and a potential Globe Cup place - but they New Kingsbury team beat them comfortably next up, while the New Kingsbury derby finished in a draw, maintaining what was now a nine point advantage for Yellow Stars with just four games to go.

Matchday 17 was a strange one. Garundia Kickball - without a win since the opening day - beat the league leaders Yellow Stars by a single goal, their 5-4-1 formation shutting them out with the occasional scare. Despite the surprise defeat, though, the Stars won the Championship on this day, as Monarchs could only manage a three-all draw at the KFS against 46ers. The next matchday, Monarchs secured their Globe Cup place, as they edged past the Red Wall, whilst Petardos crumbled at the champions. And, with nothing much to play for, the top two played out an entertaining derby, topped off with a rare goal from Roger Lyku to win it in the closing stages.

So Yellow Stars retain their title, quite a few years after their previous title, and thus qualify to lose in the opening stages of the Champions' Cup, whilst Monarchs do the same in the Globe Cup. But there is still silverware up for grabs in the Cueto Cup! The top two from the league season are given a bye to the semi-finals, while the other four teams in the draw played out two quarter-finals to see who would go into the draw with them. All games in the competition are played at the King Francesco Stadium, where there is ample space for fans of all teams.

After a relatively successful league season, Petardos lit up the King Francesco Stadium by beating both of the Big Two on their way to a first major trophy - Godiva repeating her performance in the league game against Yellow Stars in the final, breaking away to score the winner midway through the second half. The win also earned her team a place in Globe Cup and Cygnus Cup competition.

The Euran Football Association’s Euraleague
Recap on Season 26

Season 25 was the season of the underdog, as Brigham became the first side outside of the “Big Five” to win the title in over thirty years. Season 26 was marked instead by the end of an agonising wait for a club that is already a giant. Brigham were denied the opportunity to retain their title by a rampant Directus side, who stormed to the league title with 85 points – Brigham, by far and away their nearest rivals, finished on 78. It was the first title Tom Benedict’s Directus have won in a decade, since Ildar Patrelyak led them to victory in Season 15. While Brigham, Ulsa and Revolutionaries all struggled for goals (and typically Spartangrad didn’t but were hampered by their backline) Directus stormed ahead, fuelled by the brilliance of Farfadillis star Maas Fox, who won the Player of the Season award for his efforts. Also key to their victory was inspired free transfer Takacz Endre, the Euran juggernauts of their backline Craig Gilbert and Andrew Watson, the central midfield pair of Gavin Mitchell and key signing Charles Hunter, and a deadly strike partnership of Valladares striker Lucas Valdez and Felipe Ebenezer of the USI.

Brigham were unable to follow up on last year’s success despite a couple of wise signings and another great season for Dominik Mauer and Huele, while Ulsa improved considerably with the signing of Szavodan hero Branmir Milic, but clearly remain too dependent on Craig Sinclair as the most expensive Euran of all time, Sam Ashtree, retires. Revolutionaries had a very poor season by their standards, with their defence becoming noticeably porous, with the positions of Joe Caffin and young Yttribian centreback Ulysses Bonaventura now seemingly under threat, although John Spartan and Golden Boot winner Frank Rozenthal kept them afloat. Spartangrad filled the final Globe Cup qualifying spot after a series of bizarre results left them a point behind Revolutionaries, despite having a goal difference 31 goals superior, with Mke Adams taking his likely bow from Euran football in flamboyant fashion, while new centreback Bryan Butler impressed alongside Rhys Gibbons. Bastion finished sixth but their position was deceptive as they continued their much vaunted recovery. Although they still appear unable to challenge for the title it seems like they will now compete for UICA places once again, after there was a brief danger of them losing financial viability. Eura’s “biggest club” were carried in particular by the performances of young forwards Lofty Jones and Dion Underwood, the former an excellent signing who won Young Player of the Year, while other signing Peter Morrison had an unexpectedly successful season.

Lajuno and Holdenberg were unable to penetrate higher than seventh and eighth respectively, a disappointment for both but especially the latter who invested heavily in talent after losing George Davies, although his replacement Roger Piper was a great success. Falourr struggled after losing Hunter, bringing in the experienced midfielders Aldardo and Robel but still managing only a 9thplace finish, while Oakstone completed the top ten as the overachievers of the season, staying assuredly clear of the relegation zone with a threadbare squad. Like Falourr, Farrenton struggled to impress and flopped to 11th. In the bottom half there were performances to be proud of for Workers Union, Hornchurch, Usmer and Holdenberg City, and Old Boys Club were fortunate to stay up with a severely weakened squad after losing Jones to Bastion. Going down in their place were AFC Mayville, an unexpected but not unlikely consequence of their squad undergoing seriously decline in the past few seasons. They went down with a Silver League quality Callodown side and Foxhampton, who imploded after losing Piper at the end of last season.

Outside of the league, Holdenberg made up for their disappointment with a much celebrated National Cup win, seeing off Lajuno in a “Globe Cup hopefuls” clash. The two aspirational clubs fought a tantalising final with Rook Branagh giving Lajuno an early lead, only for Matias Delafuente, Roger Piper, Dimitar Brandt-Caledon and an aging Pablo Dohi to turn the game around, leading to a 4-2 victory after extra time. Holdenberg were less successful in the Cygnus Cup where they exited at the quarter final stage, but Euran clubs had a bit more luck in UICA competition. Brigham could only make the quarter finals of the Champions Cup this time but Directus came tantalisingly close to winning the Globe Cup, only to be defeated 1-0 in the final by Violence Chariots of Nephara. It was a heartbreaking way to end an otherwise great season, especially as the Directus youth team won the Youth Cup on penalties, thanks to Dean Sharp (son of Lee) scoring a last minute equaliser against FC Endeavour, set up by a brilliant Dominic Miller dribble. Meanwhile the unexpected Silver League champions Blackfields, a year after their National Cup humiliation against Bastion, made an unexpected run towards the SBCC title, going out in the semi-finals. Surely that will bode well for them in what is set to be a thrilling Season 27.

Oh, and of course, there was the small matter of this season coinciding with an unbeaten Euran qualifying campaign for the World Cup, and then the most remarkable summer in Euran footballing history. Steve Thompson’s Eura, on the back of fourteen straight wins and a desire to avenge their recent defeats to Pasarga, marched to the final triumphantly, only once failing to win in ninety minutes while thrashing Farfadillis 6-1 and Free Republics 7-3. Last time they looked unstoppable in the semi-final and then lost in the big game, but this time they stumbled past San Jose Guayabal on penalties in the penultimate match, and then won the final. They overcame their Pasargan curse courtesy of a stunning John Spartan goal, making him the second Euran to score in two World Cup finals after Craig Sinclair. On the back of this stunning victory, inspired mainly by the glittering Sinclair, Waller, Gilbert, Spartan and goalscoring sensation Kris Campbell, Eura went on to win their first Copa Rushmori after a very long wait, beating Taeshan in the final. Now Season 27, qualifying for the next World Cup and lots more begins, with Eura restored to having three Champions Cup qualification slots, and more importantly possessing the world champions crown; even if Pasarga have marginally remained number one in the WCC rankings.

Key transfers, retirements and a Gold League preview ahead of Season 27

Notable Transfers

Isaac Holt (24, CM/RM, Eura) – Lajuno to Dwile Warriors (Apox) for £16m
Lukasz Urfstadt (31, LB, Polar Islandstates) – Ulsa to Lajuno for £6m
Glenn Anderson (34, CM, Eura) – Directus to Lajuno on a free transfer
Thiago Fuchs (30, LWB, USI) – Lajuno to Blackfields for £2.3m
Lewis Stephens (30, CB, Eura) – Lajuno to Hornchurch for £2.3m

For the second season in a row, the big transfer is a Euran central midfielder getting his move to a big club for £16m; but this time it’s a much riskier deal. Charles Hunter to Directus was simply a logical conclusion to an ongoing question. However, Isaac Holt – himself rejected by Directus when they managed to get £9m for him two seasons ago – is more of an enigma. The player clearly has talent and he proved some of his critics wrong away from Directus, but whether or not the uncapped 24 year old is worth £16m to Apoxian giants Dwile Warriors is seriously questionable. It’s another in a long line of sales for Lajuno, who now face fan protests towards getting a club board that will have the nerve to hold on to the annual Lajuno star player. In the meantime, they decided to bank this fee like they have the last few, bringing in veteran Directus midfielder Glenn Anderson as a stopgap solution to the new gap in midfield. They did decide to spend £6m though on replacing the mediocre Fuchs at leftback with Lukasz Urfstadt, an unexpected high profile but possibly overpriced signing from Ulsa considering his age. Fuchs and another makes-up-the-numbers defend, Lewis Stephens, have been offloaded to compensate.

Michael Sarado (30, ST, Sameba) – Honeybadgers to Revolutionaries for £8.7m

An even more odd transfer is that of Sameba’s leading striker Michael Sarado to Revolutionaries. It is about time the forward got a move to a big club, albeit a bit late in his career, but it’s an interesting one by Revolutionaries who had a poor season last year with a bizarrely low goal difference. They were very lucky to qualify for UICA football despite now being 3rd in the UICA club rankings, and received wisdom is that their problems lie in an ageing backline (and one inexperienced Yttribian centreback) and an even more aged midfield reliant on John Spartan’s creativity. So to sign another striker to ply his trade alongside Frank Rozenthal, even though Liam Allen is still just about carrying on, seems like a bizarre move, especially given that Sarado himself is 30.

Sebastian Kaur (25, LM, Austroslovakia) – Usmer to Ulsa for £8.4m
Nemanja Petrovic (23, GK, Szavoda) – Willow Street Pirates (Schottia) to Ulsa for £2.9m
Ruben Morantes (35, CM/CAM, Valladares) – Ulsa to Pradera FC (Valladares) for £3.2m

One of last season’s lower-in-the-table revelations was Sebastian Kaur, a powerful left midfielder who played a defining role in Usmer’s survival. Ulsa saw his talent and decided to take a risk in splashing out £8.4m for the second Austroslovakian hit in Euraleague. However the logic behind this move is questionable; what if he turns out to be a one season wonder? A better signing it seems is their purchase of lanky Szavodan goalkeeper Nemanja Petrovic, a long term replacement for Chris Waller. Meanwhile the sale of Urfstadt has raised some funds, as has the sale of Ruben Morantes, the 35 year old midfield dynamo returning to his homeland after years of service. When combined with getting Sam Ashtree off the wage bill due to retirement, it appears Kaur maybe isn’t so expensive after all – and Ulsa are actually lining up a spending spree for next summer.

Lucas Palmisano (18, ST, Apox) – RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS) to Spartangrad for £7.5m
Jacen Xasan (26, AM/RM, Ceni) – Myrmidon (Ceni) to Spartangrad for £5.5m
Scott Bloomfield (22, CF, Eura) – Spartangrad to Oakstone for £6.5m
Mike Adams (33, RW, Eura) – Spartangrad to Gwinevra (Apox) on a season long loan

It’s two in, two out at Spartangrad. The outs came early and surprised everyone. Mike Adams was expected to finish his career there but they’ve loaned him out to Apox with a view to a permanent transfer. Scott Bloomfield, the younger protégé of Victor Larsen, was sold off in a risky sale to mid-table overachievers Oakstone, who will hope to turn the Euran into a top quality striker by giving him a starting spot. Then Spartangrad brought in Jacen Xasan, Ceni’s key midfielder, a decent signing but yet to be proven to be on the level of Adams. However their second signing is already being talked up as inspired; Larsen’s long term replacement will be Lucas Palmisano, an Apoxian wonderkid with huge potential secured for only £7.5m. It’s the sort of signing Revolutionaries might wish they had made.

Maurice Arcuri (27, AM, Sameba) – AFC Mayville to Holdenberg for £5.5m

Holdenberg follow up their disappointment last season, despite having invested in three players (one of whom was an improvement on their previous top scorer). They’ve bought this Sameban international from relegated AFC Mayville with the hope that he will plug a hole in attacking midfield and add creativity as Dohi ages.

Willem Ajax (20, CM, Apox) – FC Axel Heiburg (Polar Islandstates) to Bastion for £5.1m

Another Apoxian comes into the league, this time to Bastion who continue to aim for their UICA rebirth. Ajax hasn’t quite got the same hype as Palmisano but he’s a good replacement in the long run for Alan Dabix.

Patrick Barber (26, CF, Eura) – Callodown to Farrenton Athletic for £4.2m
Olman Reedwater (28, RB, Apox) – AFC Mayville to Farrenton Athletic for £4m

Farrenton responded to their mediocre performance last season by investing in two players taken from relegated teams, a decent striker in Barber and an experienced Gold League fullback.

Dean Sharp (18, ST, Eura – Directus to Blackfields on a season long loan

Lee Sharp’s son qualified for the Directus academy and has now been loaned out to Blackfields for what will be his debut season. It’s hard to believe he will live up to his father’s level, but could he be just what Blackfields need to stay up?

Notable Retirements

Sam Ashtree (35, ST, Eura, Ulsa)

Sam Ashtree was the most expensive Euran player ever when he left Ulsa for Astograth for £50m. That fee wasn’t quite justified but nevertheless Sam has been a hugely successful player, winning multiple titles and a World Cup. He scored 50 international goals in just 112 caps, and retires as one of the best Euran forwards of all time, having far exceeded the potential attributed to him at the start of his career.

Julius Carrera (35, LW/ST, Sameba, Bastion)
Asey Vella (37, CB, Sameba, Hornchurch)

As Sameba flounder short of having made it to a World Cup (and exited the Cup of Harmony early on), the retirements of their “Golden Generation” have begun. Former captain Asey Vella retires as the most capped Sameban with 145 international appearances and 7 goals to his name. He is joined by the lethal striker Julius Carrera, who like Ashtree carved out a successful career between Eura and Astograth. He was capped 127 times and is Sameba’s all-time top scorer with 61 goals.

Isner (33, CB, Apox, Bastion)
Stan Graham (35, LCB, Eura, FC Endeavour (Apox)

Apoxian national team stalwart Isner retires after a long career with Bastion. Meanwhile, in Isner’s homeland, Euran centreback Stan Graham has hung up his boots. He was only ever a peripheral international but was very successful at a top club in another top league.

OOC Note: There was a Sameban league Season III, but unfortunately I was unable to score it, so the UICA absence can be explained by internal strife that prevented teams leaving the country.

San José Guayabal Liga Premier, Season 12, Results.

And not it seems that is getting usual that one of the recently promoted teams are performing really well in this season, as it happened with FK Rostov, the Republicans performed a good debut on Liga Premer and finished fourth, when almost everybody gave them as relegated due to their lack of changes in their team compared to their last Segunda División season, still, the risk gave impressive results like tying against Alianza 2-2 at their home, maybe the best game ever for this team and their short history, as we expected their already large fan base increased and the culture of FK Rostov expanded, as usual they did some tifos criticizing the Government and some social attitudes towards certain topics, classical of them. CD Las Ánimas performed a pretty good Liga Premier season as well in their return after twelve years away from Liga Premier, finishing 10th in this tournament but with the distinctive of being the third best offensive of the league and being the worst defense of the league too, scored 63 times and received 63 against, a pretty big number if you ask me but that’s pretty good for the Deadsouls in their comeback to the Liga Premier, well done for them! While Yucuaiquín FC suffered throughout the season, being 16th for a good part of the season, the Beef Cookers improved during the last third of the season, getting key results like tying Liberty Rodríguez 1-1 away, defeating FK Khremenovsk 1-0 in a game that sealed the faith of the Villagers that failed to recover and had to face relegation and also beating FC Real Destroyer and Atlético Militar Marte with a narrow 1-0 score, both wins were in the road.

Moving up to the middle, we see what we expected, CD Águila moving just one spot above their last season position and Brasília Suchitoto finished one spot below their last season finish, the Eagles scored some impressive results like beating Alianza twice (5-1 H, 0-1 A) they pulled that for the first time in twenty five years, a lot of time and events happened before we could see this, it goes back to the times of WC 67, but Águila has a lot of things to improve, considering that six of their ten draws were games in which they could have won but extremely weird defensive mistakes took them away points that could have sent them to at least the fifth place, too bad for them. Cóndor Valladares fell off spectacularly, after being 13th in the MD 13, they sacked their manager due to poor performances “well below of the board expectations” as the owner said, Moisés Zamora came as a firefighter to finish the season and he had good moments, as he was sixth in certain moment of the Last third but the team fell off and finished 9th, just above them is Atlético Nacional, a team that suffered a lot and just got eight points in their last nine games and crashed horribly, falling from a solid first place that they had for a good part of the season to finishing 8th in this season, despite that they had the second best offensive in the league and had good results, they still owe the fans those promised improvements at the end of the season because they keep falling off at the end.

Avendaño injured twice Hazel Van Robben, at the first injury, he broke Van Robben’s nose and after that, Avendaño punched her on throat, causing her an injury there, Avendaño got red carded and also Van Robben by kicking Avendaño on groins as retaliation, both teams fought and the referee was punched on mouth twice by Agustín Castillo, curiously enough, Castillo didn’t received any kind of punishment by his actions against the referee Fernando Esquerra. Another fail happened at MD 23, at Alianza vs Ánimas match (Alianza 1-0 CD Las Ánimas), a cameraman was running through the pitch at the moment of the National Anthem singing, he fell off in front of Mako Holstad and the cameraman tried to stop falling down but in that attempt he took Holstad’s pants down and the peace while singing the anthem was disturbed by a colossal laughter coming from the fans, definitively an epic fail that turned Holstad in target of jokes and fun, the cameraman apologized with Holstad publicly by the incident, Holstad accepted the apologies and that finished one of the most embarrassing moments for a player in the Liga Premier.

FAS defended their title successfully but with more suffering and drama because they won it by defeating Alianza 2-1 in added time with a goal of Adriana Melo where the Sunrisian put the ball near Daniel Cromwell’s hands but a weird effect of the ball left Cromwell without chance to save the goal, what a way to celebrate for the FAS fans, winning the Championship in front of their archrivals in the last game which was decisive to win the title because FAS needed to beat Alianza in order to win the Championship, while Alianza just needed to tie and they would have won it.
