AND THERE WE HAVE IT!

Sutton Rovers can only finish 2nd, as Fairford City take their first national title. Rossington go straight back down, joined by the atrocious Oxcroft City, while Hardwick come straight back up, joined by Warnborough. Chesterford Rangers miss out on promotion by just one point, while Redstone City survive relegation on Goal Difference.

And, as such, our International Qualifiers are as follows:

Warrenstone (WRH) qualifiers
Champions’ Cup: Fairford City FC
Globe Cup: Sutton Rovers FC, Hollybourne City FC, Elmstone Rovers FC
Series B Champions’ Cup: Hardwick City FC, Warnborough FC, Chesterford Rangers FC

KERFA FOOTBALL LEAGUE - YEAR 8 - NEWS

KERFA football is once again back, this time for the eight season. Major changes and UICA cup runs have made the league almost unrecognisable. Forty-four teams now span two divisions, one cup while twenty youth teams also faced of in the return of the Liebherr Division.

The 2063-2064 season has been described as the most shocking year of football so far. And indeed, it has brought quite a number of upsets with it. Haut-Corlay, the runners-up of two seasons ago who only avoided relegation last season thanks to the fusion the First and Second Divisions, claimed the title ahead of pre-season favourites New Southampton who scrape into second place above Guingamp on goal difference. Both the Saints and the Paysans paid the price early on for their runs in UICA tournament - especially Guingamp. The new foreign imports were also another highlight of this season, namely the very young buy very talented Miles Snavely of Taeshan. The 16 year old forward almost single handedly kept Kernansquillec City up scoring 23 goals.

The Cup also saw its fair share of surprises: a Kernansquillec City derby for the final was quite a treat, but Athletic were once again unable to break their curse of failing when it matters as they lost to city rivals AFC by a single goal. A 46 game long Second Division made the league a battle of fittest towards the end and it showed with a number of teams within points of the playoff spots. The good news for those who didn't make it up is that there was no relegation from the Second Division this season ahead of the return of a 20 team Third Division. The Liebherr Division's return was the final highlight of the new season, especially with a place in the Youth Cup up for grabs. In the end En Avant U19 ran away with top place, dropping just a handful of points over the campaign. In the Critérium, Rennes du Nord U19 won to give their fans another reason to celebrate a strong season from the Rennais.

Full details of the 2063-2064 football season may be found here and here (in two parts due to character limit).

The National Stadium - the "Green Jewel" - is located in North-East Kernansquillec City. The stadium is linked to the nearby town centre and the city's international airport by a direct metro line known as the "Green Line". Shuttles arrives every couple of minutes on match days linking the city centre to the stadium in about 6 minutes, with the stadium-airport link about 8 minutes long. City buses also link the stadium to the whole capital and a 25 000 capacity underground car park is a mere 300 meters away from the ground.

The all-seater stadium has a capacity of 110 000. A section of up to 10 000 seats can be reserved for away fans, however less are usually provided. All of the stadiums seats are either green or white.

The Stadium, which was built in 1995, has been refurbished only once in 2036 when damage done during the Great War was repaired and an additional 10 000 seats added. Internal facilities, such as changing rooms along with medical and security facilities were also refurbished with state-of-the-art equipment.

The Stadium hosts all of Kernansquillec's home internationals as well as the National Cup final and playoff finals. The Under 21s also play their home ties here. The stadium has also hosted the finals of the 53rd Series B Champions’ Cup as well as the final of the 8th Youth Cup. Valladares (VLD) final site bids
Champions’ Cup 60: Alexander I National Stadium, Swangard (95,021 seats)
Alexander I National Stadium is the national stadium of Valladares, located in the town of Swangard, just a short 25 minute commuter train ride from the City of Metropolis downtown, and 15 minutes away from Stanford-Miller International Airport in the nearby town of Villena. It serves as the venue for most matches of the Valladar national football team and starting from the most recent Liga-1 season, Metropolis Alligators, although clubs such as Nacional, AD Cerro, Fontvielle Impact, and AS Bezieres have used the stadium for their home matches in both domestic and international competition in the past.

This historic stadium has already got some experience at hosting finals of UICA and other international competitions, as it hosted the nineteenth Champions Cup' final, as well as the final matches for the tenth and twentieth Copa Rushmori editions, and the final match of the sixty-first Cup of Harmony. Domestic-wise, it serves as the venue for the Kings' Shield final and the final playoffs for Liga-2 and Liga-3 every year. This stadium underwent a major upgrade in preparation to host duties in the Cup of Harmony, the most important changes being its capacity, which was increased from 85,000 to 95,021 with the construction of a second tier on both ends, its roof was also renewed and replaced with a lighter material, its press booths and VIP boxes were also enlarged, and locker rooms and other internal facilities for players and referees were refurbished. Wi-Fi connectability was also enabled for all seats in the stadium in order to improve fan experience to an unprecedented level in Valladares.

If elected as the venue for the final of the 60th Champions' Cup, the National Stadium Trust will reserve 40,000 seats out of the total capacity of 95,021 for fans of the two teams involved in the match, with each group being allocated a total of 20,000 seats. UICA officials and UICA sponsors will be given 15,000 seats and the remainder of tickets will be released for open sale.

(NPH) Sabrefell Athletic 1-1 Northern Union (BRE) (1-1 aet, 3-2 pen)

The Estadio Olímpico at The Royal Barangay saw how Sabrefell Athletic and Northern Union faced themselves on the CEdC XVI Final, a packed stadium saw the second time in three editions that a Brenecian and a Nepharim team faced to win the regional glory and also the third time in a row that one of the finalists is a Nepharim team. In a hard fought match which lasted 120 minutes, the penalties defined the fate of both teams, there was not need of sudden death and Sabrefell Athletic took the trophy to their accolades, being their first regional championship. Congratulations to Sabrefell Athletic and comisserations to the Northern Union.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • All the entries for the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones must use the acronym CEdC in their national qualifiers box in order to avoid missing nations for future editions of the Championship.
  • The default venue of the CEdC finals, in case that there is no bids, will be the Estadio Cuscatlán, in San Salvador, San José Guayabal.

REGULAR SEASON
The first season of the Sunrisian Championship under its' new formula, shortened to allow additional tournaments, friendlies and whatnot, started at the Island of Son Vasco as the home team Son Vasco CF lost at a full Argitxanda Stadium to Jaunepont Herault by 0-1, courtesy of recent signing, Semarlandish striker Jans Clark. This edition had heavy fanfare from the three debuting teams at the Sunrisian Championship's Division One, but it all ended pretty badly for all but one team: Besmarlaltur Wanderers, thanks to magical home talent Kreszentia Laberenz's 16 goals now has the opportunity of playing one more season on the Division One, something the first frozen wasteland's representative did not fill in its' expectations from last season's 2nd place on the Division Two. Speaking of which, Exileview, notoriously short on cash and often relying on its' farm system fought to their limit, but couldn't scratch a spot. Following the duet, Platform Moon could not stay around for another season and Porto Velho's follow up to a UICA brief participation was nothing but relegation. Some, of course, would blame the short calendar. It might have helped teams such as Selyne and Nacional, who finished the First Round showing nothing but greatness. Some of the other qualified teams were shocks, however. Ayeville Pikachu had a great season, thanks mostly to the great coaching skills of van Riet, seemingly looking forward to the second round as something attainable. The last important story, however, was of the Matthew Rangers. The Rangers' poor run of 0-7 (Mardi, Sunrice, Son Vasco, Jaunepont, Thunchester, Senators and Ayeville) at the start of the championship seemed something that would finally call relegation to one of the teams of the traditional Amy Island. However, thanks to Raul Capablanca's leadership skills, the team came out of nowhere, managing 18 undefeated games to somehow smuggle the last qualifier spot from an angered Lylat.

SECOND ROUND
Round of 16
Selyne Athenians 2-3 Matthew Rangers (SA: Sorensen 32', Ichie 72' / MR: de la Fuente 20' 49', Capablanca (pen) 80')
Thunchester City 1-0 Granger Dragonites (TC: Uulver 72')
Mardi Lopunnies 2-1 Arrendine Remparts (ML: Apple Jack 64', del Pietro 90' / AR: Longchambon 76')
Sunrice Saint-Raptors 5-4 Amy City (SS: Kjolmar 10' 25', Nilsson 63', Richardson 72', Molodetsov 80' / Rosewing 22' 31' 44' 54')
Nacional 0-0 Upper Skyforce [AET 0-1] (US: Codiac 102')
Sant Jordi CF 1-3 Carnival Samba (SJ: Gonzalez 30' / CS: Lincoln 14', Mateus Jolteon 60', Rhonan 82')
Stilwater City 0-2 Ayeville Pikachus (AP: Creek 5', Turnpike 56')
Son Vasco CF 3-2 Jaunepont Herault (SV: Joan Narcís 12', Cacá Benítez 63' 85' / JH: Clark 27', Antoine 50')

We'd emphasize on how this was the very first Round of 16 a Sunrisian Championship ever had but, one must be thinking that one of these games was the odd one out. Sunrice Saint-Raptors v. Amy City? Yes. The game itself was tough, but the team from Sunrice managed to get a win after a shocker from behind the team's very own box as Molodetsov punted a shot to the back of the net. Superhuman skill. The Athenians surprisingly bowed down to the Rangers squad, a proof of how serious the team from the Babylon Gardens part of Matthew City was about turning the championship upside down. Another team with an Audioslavian star, Thunchester City sneaked their way over the Dragonites. Northern Sunrise's capital team, Mardi Lopunnies had their way over the Remparts, thanks to a goal from home product Alexas del Pietro. The Remparts were not the only team from Arrendine getting the boot as Jaunepont Herault failed to stop the Basque sensation from Son Vasco, goals from Joan Narcís and Cacá Benítez, both home talent from the colonial team. Another colonial squad failed to stop another home talent heavy team as the Samba rolled over them on the second half, Rhonan did himself great, hoping to be one of the few +90 alumni that reached an actual Sunrisian Championship title. The 'Chus continued their way merrily over Stilwater after a goal from Sarian veteran Creek and home kid Chris Turnpike while the sole non-Northern Sunrisian match saw Western Sunrise's Nacional fail to beat Upper Sunrise's Upper Skyforce.

Quarter-Finals
Thunchester City 1-2 Matthew Rangers (TC: Uulver 32' / MR: Spearowhead 48', Capablanca 82')
Mardi Lopunnies 1-0 Upper Skyforce (ML: Vrem 80')
Sunrice Saint-Raptors 1-2 Carnival Samba (SS: Renan 85' / CS: Fabinho 30', Anna 62')
Son Vasco CF 2-0 Ayeville Pikachus (SV: Evan Bango 32', Cacá Benítez 60')

The gateway to a lucrative UICA run finally arrived and an interesting final four, for one. The Rangers added another victim to their now twenty-games unbeaten streak as the Thunchester City team fell against what many expected to be the one time that Uulver would take the Noctowls to the title. Mardi edged out the sole non-Northern Sunrisian team left as the Skyforce bowed down after a goal from Western Borderlandian striker Vandu Vrem. The Samba cut Molodetsov's Saint-Raptors out, thanks to Fabinho and Anna's goals. Renan had the honour goal. Last but not least, the 'Chus miracle run was stopped by the Basques from Son Vasco, goals from Evan Bango and a deadly Cacá Benítez.

Semi-Finals
Mardi Lopunnies 0-0 Matthew Rangers [AET 0-1] (MR: de la Fuente 104')
Son Vasco CF 0-0 Carnival Samba [AET 1-0] (SV: Cacá Benítez 100')

Matthew Rangers and Son Vasco CF advance rather equally. Both teams tired their opposition down to the last minutes and thanks to their striker's skills, both teams managed to edge out Mardi and Carnival, both now qualified to the Globe Cup.

Final
Son Vasco CF 0-0 Matthew Rangers [AET 0-0, PK 3-1] (PEN: SV: Cacá Benítez (in), Quezada (out), Joan Narcís (out), Dramini (in), Mercè Eulàlia (in) / MR: Anderton (out), Capablanca (out), de la Fuente (in), Boneless (out) )
Argitxanda Stadium, Son Vasco

Northern Sunrisians are clearly eating their heart out. The second time a non-Northern Sunrisian team (as Son Vasco is from the Sunrisian Territory of the very same name and Suzuka Route 99ers' win during the SUN.League still counts) doesn't win the Sunrisian Championship saw few shots on goal and a game that was mostly composed of hard tackling. Son Vasco, expecting a penalty shootout from the start, rested Joan Marcel on the bench and let José Amore on the net for the game. Matthew Rangers had heart, but that was not enough to break away the defence of the Basques. The season might not be over, but the greatest prize is now on the hands of one team: Son Vasco CF.

The Banijan Soccer League

Image

The Royal Soccer Association of Banija is proud to present the Banijan Soccer League to the sporting world. This is the top division of soccer in Banija, competing with gridiron football to be the nation's most popular sport. The Banijan Soccer League consists of 16 teams, who compete in two competitions. They compete for the league title, to be champions of the league. The other major competition that BSL teams compete in is the King's Cup, which all professional teams in Banija participate in, but is almost always won by a BSL team.

Currently, there is no second division for BSL teams to be relegated to, though one may be formed. The format followed for league play is a double round-robin. The format followed for the King's Cup is each round(round of 16, 8, and 4) all being two legged affairs(away goals rule as the 1st tiebreaker), with a random draw of who is at home first. The final is one match located at Frazier Field in the national capitol city of Istria. Breaks are given midseason to allow for the play of the King's Cup, and the King's Cup final is always held one week after the Final Day at the Banijan National Stadium in Istria. To start the beginning of a new season, a kickoff match is played between the King's Cup winners and the BSL winner(or, if they are the same, the 2nd place team of the BSL) at the National Stadium called the national kickoff match.

Teams in the BSL- Underlined players are Banijan internationals. Nationality is listed if they are not Banijan.

San Llera Youth League

For the first time in San Lleran history, the many youth teams have their own organized league, which is connected to San League Soccer. Those teams include Llerana U21, Llara Llera Juniors, Chell JSC, Pantans U21, Vall JSC, J. Patria Poble, SC Porta, Porta Llora U21, U20 Amici, Cremando Joveno, JAS Mantegapa, Pende Joveno, JSC Dinde, U20 Familia, and La Priporta. The clubs are ordered by how likely they are to win, according to this author.

The results are as follows:
San Youth League Soccer Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 SC Porta 28 19 4 5 30 7 +23 61

Special Statement from the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League concerning the status of GSAZ FC, Island Soccer, Military FC

As a result of recent events during the Great War of Esportiva, GSAZ FC (currently participating in Division I), Island Soccer (currently participating in Division I), and Military FC (currently participating in Division II) suffered heavy casualties. As a result, the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League is taking extraordinary measures to compensate the three teams and allow for fair play.

Special Measures Concerning GSAZ FC

GSAZ FC is currently participating in Division I, after an eighth place finish last season, which was completed before the start of the War. GSAZ FC consists entirely of players who live within the Gregoryisgodistan Special Administrative Zone. During the Great War of Esportiva, the GSAZ was attacked and ransacked by soldiers from Saintland and their allies. The entire squad was killed, along with thousands of other people. Their home stadium was burned to the ground. As a result, the team is essentially starting from scratch now. Consequently, the GSL is announcing the following measures to avoid penalizing them unjustly.

1) GSAZ FC will be permitted to play its home games at any stadium or stadiums of its choice within Gregoryisgodistan, pending availability and approval from the owners, while their stadium is being rebuilt. The owners estimate this will take 2-3 seasons. The GSL will cover all reasonable expenses including transportation and rental fees. GSAZ FC shall be considered the home team for all purposes for these home matches, including ticket sales.
2) GSAZ shall not be relegated on sporting merit for the next five seasons, regardless of finish. Should GSAZ FC finish in one of the bottom two spots, the 14th place team will be relegated in order to allow two teams to be promoted from Division II. However, this 14th place team shall not be subject to any of the penalties typically associated with relegation, nor shall GSAZ FC.
3) The GSL will provide monetary assistance in the rebuilding of the stadium.

Special Measures Concerning Island Soccer

During the Great War of Esportiva, terrorists from San Jose Guayabal attacked Greglake Island and massacred almost the entire population in addition to destroying the home stadium of Island Soccer and pretty much everything else. The team itself suffered no casualties, as they were in Santaclausisgodistan playing a friendly at the time, but their home stadium, their training grounds, and pretty much everything else were destroyed. Island Soccer, unlike the other two relevant teams, is currently eligible to participate in the upcoming UICA cycle, specifically the Globe Cup. The following measures shall be taken.

1) Island Soccer shall receive the same benefits as GSAZ concerning their home stadium - specifically the ability to play as a "roving" team at other venues until their stadium is rebuilt and the use of GSL funds to rebuild the stadium.
2) During the upcoming Globe Cup, Island Soccer shall use Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium as its home stadium, as it is not currently scheduled to host any events for some time. They shall also be able to use the same training facilities as the Gregoryisgodistan national soccer team. In the event Island Soccer qualifies for a future Globe Cup, special measures will be taken at that time.

Special Measures Concerning Military FC

Military FC currently participates in Division II after being relegated last season. As Military FC consists solely of players from the Gregoryisgodistani Military, they suffered heavy losses during the War, more so than any other team. Although other teams also suffered losses, both to civilians and reserves, of the 28 players who played for Military FC at some point last year, 26 were killed. Fortunately, their home stadium is undamaged. The special measures are as follows.

1) Military FC is exempt from execution for the next ten seasons, five as special measure and five in honor of their service. Should Military FC finish in last place in any of these seasons, no team will be executed that year. To allow for the continued expansion of the league, the following season would be played with 17 teams and one team having a bye each matchday. At the conclusion of that season, the bottom two teams will be executed, unless one of them is Military FC (and the ten-season period has not yet expired), in which case only the one team will be executed and the following season would also be played with 17 teams. This will repeat as necessary for the duration of the ten-season period.

Matekkipper, 10:00 PM.

"T-t-the King is what?" asked the Royal Guard's Leader.
"Dead. Fallen due to a severe case of didn'tsee." answered the Royal Scientist.
"What?"
"Didn't see the truck arriving. Blam."
"...Damn, that means his son is going to take over!"
"So? Matthew XII's not that bad."
"He's going to mess up everything! Specially the championship!"

Due to very special reasons (and mostly for ratings), each division of the Matthewsianian pyramid is going for Sunrisian numbers! Thirty-two teams per division! Wheeeee!

Matekkipper, two days later, 10:00 AM, just right after the new King's messing around with the football leagues.
"...Piss." said the Scientist, throwing the newspaper with the results to the sky.
This is Matthewsiania, Northern Sunrise Islands strange flag-colored puppet.

The race for the championship wasn't that close, as even though Eendracht limped their way to the finish at 2-2-2, including a 1-0 loss to relegated Onze Daam, FC Frederykvil didn't play much better, finishing 2-3-1. Eendracht tried hard to give away their four-point lead, but Frederykvil was having none of it. Their consolation prize was taking the season series (3-0-1, 2-1 win, 3-0 loss, 1-0 win, 1-2 win), which they have not lost since the league's entry into UICA play.

The real story was the emergence of Estreya Zwart as a contender, finishing third to earn their first Globe Cup appearance. Estreya Zwart finished 9th two years ago and 5th last year, so they seem to have figured out how to win. A big part of their third-place finish is their improved defense. 52 goals allowed in 36 games may not seem like anything to be proud of, but they conceded 59 and 65 their previous two seasons. Credit defenders and national team players Sulaymun Falana and Farouk Vosjan for anchoring the defense this year. On the offensive side of things, young national team strikers Endrik Boeker and Ali Wijkstra combined to score 41 goals between them, with Boeker's 24 ranking third in all the VLvG.

SV Oranje stole fourth place and the final Globe Cup spot out from under Zeerovers' nose. Zeerovers and Estreya Zwart were tied at 49 points with six games to go and a five point lead over SV Oranje, but Zeerovers collapsed. They finished 1-3-2, including a 6-0 loss to Eendracht. But the worst blow of all came on the final matchday. Oranje had gone 3-2-0 to tie Zeerovers at 55 points for the last Globe Cup spot. Zeerovers would visit an Onze Daam team already condemned to relegation, while SV Oranje drew fellow contender Estreya Zwart. Zeerovers fans shouted for joy when they saw Oranje and Estreya battling to a draw; with a win, they could take third place from Estreya and deny Oranje a Globe Cup spot. Those shouts of joy turned to screams of horror as Magnus van der Wal poured one goal after another past keeper Joren Arnolds. His hat trick gave fans of Our Lady a chance to rejoice in an otherwise dismal season.

Onvervaard made a strong run at the end of the season, recording three clean sheets in a 4-2-0 finish, behind the strong defense of Eduoaard Castelaõ and Youssef van Hartskamp, national team defenders. Konduktor dropped from 4th to 7th, while Vootrekkers managed to combine a bad offense with a leaky defense in their 8th place finish. The Thunderbolts of Hadarage's Raffiyel Preuter scored twenty goals to lead the team, but their all-out attacks strategy led to goalie Jaap van Vlijt facing tons of shots per game. Their 82 goals allowed is an Eerste Divisyon record (though Racing Garifunya of the G. Lig 1 have allowed 88 and 87 goals before), and their 220 goals allowed since the beginning of UICA play is the most of any team in the Eerste Divisyon in that span.

It's perhaps a good thing that the SBCC is now limited to three teams per league, because there were only three teams worthy of the place this year. Puerto CF wins the league and returns to the Eerste Divisyon, while VVV Mytelbeerg misses out on promotion for the second year in a row, but they do get a chance to improve on their playoff round defeat from the last competition. Meanwhile, Sporting Phoenix continues their run of good performance, but they still have no promotions to show for it. They lost in a promotion playoff after tying for first two years ago, and finished fourth last year.

As for the tale of the tape, Mytelbeerg led by one point with six games to go and struggled down the stretch to lose the lead, much as they did last year. They finished 2-3-1, but their crucial failings were a draw to 5th place Libeté and a dismal 3-0 loss to 6th place Sint Frederyk. Whether it is fatigue or the nebulous "struggles in the clutch", the Fishermen have to figure out what they are doing wrong late in the season and how to fix it, or they may never figure out how to get back to the top level. Puerto trailed Mytelbeerg by one, but went 4-2-0 in their final six games to blaze into first place, and their two draws came on the last two matchdays against Mytelbeerg and Sporting Phoenix, allowing them to hold off their principal rivals. Phoenix themselves went 3-2-1 down the stretch and even had an outside chance of tying or overtaking Puerto with two games to go, trailing by just four points, but lost 2-0 to Sint Frederyk (the designated spoiler, apparently) and then drew Puerto on the final day.

As for the midtable sides, VK Caribyen turned in a good season that wasn't quite good enough, and so missed out on a third straight trip to the SBCC. Libeté continued their trend of finishing 5th or 6th, just kind of hanging around, but never really threatening contention. Sint Frederyk knocked off Sporting Phoenix and Mytelbeerg, but otherwise disappointed. They have continued to descend each year, finishing 4th, then 5th, and now 6th. SK Klenzeelaan boasted a strong defense, allowing fewer than a goal a game, but an anemic offense (.69 goals per game) condemned them to a 7th place finish.

Vrijport again are relegated to the G. Lig 2, following a horrendous season in which they ended up with just fifteen points. They endured a twenty-five match winless streak (0-5-20) in the middle of the season before finally breaking it with a 2-0 win over Chevalyé on the final matchday. The season included losses of 7-1, 4-0, 5-1, and 6-0, but overall did not include the amount of awful losses one might expect. Vrijport was just consistently worse than their opponents; not a whole lot worse, but definitely worse. Traditional relegation battle partner Racing Garifunya had their best season in terms of points, and were twenty-four points clear of the relegation spot, but still finished tied for 10th.

A logjam at the top, as four teams tied at 36 points and vied for a chance to be promoted to the (relatively more) lucrative G. Lig 1. The reason for the logjam? Excelsior and AS Souleyman went into the final matchday on 36 points, but lost 1-0 and 2-0 to 5th place AV Marin and 6th place Zwaluwen Vrijport, respectively. This gave both Old Boys and Viktwaar the chance to claim the title outright, but they could only manage a draw against 9th place Municipal Oost-Estasyon and 10th place SV Hercules, respectively. Viktwaar perhaps has to be most disappointed, as their foes SV Hercules were the weakest. For Hercules, it was the highest they have ever finished (they previously finished 11th and 12th). VK Nasyonel has its second straight struggling season after finishing 6th in their debut season.

LOGRIAN NATIONAL LEAGUE (reboot) : SEASON ONE PREVIEW

A.C. PALLISTON
Manager: Joe Morris
Nickname: Athletic or AC
Home Stadium: The Athletic Ground, Chilton, Co. Palliston
Capacity: 44,680
Overview: Athletic Club are the biggest of the teams from the capital in terms of finance, though not in terms of support. Expect them to finish at least near the summit.

AVENELL GARRISON
Manager: Harry Winsome
Nickname: The Army Men or The Garrison
Home Stadium: Queensland Road, Ashburton, Co. Palliston
Capacity: 59,770
Overview: Originally the team of the Logrian Army, the team are based a little down the road from the (now demolished) base that gave them their name. The best supported team in Palliston, they will be looking to get one over on main rivals AC.

BRIMCASTER
Manager: Anthony Bowes
Nickname: The Songbirds
Home Stadium: High Point Stadium, Brimcaster, Co. Broome
Capacity: 21,855
Overview: Effeminate nickname be damned, Brimcaster are a team looking to cause some ruckus in Division One. Chances are they'll be looking over their shoulders at the bottom three though.

BROOME CITY
Manager: Charles Lee
Nickname: City
Home Stadium: Scotland Road, Broome, Co. Broome
Capacity: 19,805
Overview: Despite the name, Broome are second banana in the Second City. They have only one objective: finish above Sandcote. That, and try not to get relegated.

CORINTHIANS
Manager: Stephen Jackson
Nickname: The Spirits
Home Stadium: Owlery Hill, Cuttersley, S. Argerose
Capacity: 37,240
Overview: Founded as a Sunday team, and taking on the colours of a certain Starblaydi club, Corinthians have grown to a size those founders could only dream of. I'd be surprised if they're much above mid-table though.

CROXBY
Manager: Martin Robson
Nickname: The Towers
Home Stadium: Tower Stadium, Speake, Co. Speake
Capacity: 41,165
Overview: Croxby are one of the giants of Logrian football, partially due to their excellent academy, and partly because the citizens of Speake treat the sport almost as a religion. Whether or not that makes Croxby and Speake FC the Papists and Lutherans of the football world, we'll leave to your imagination.

CUTTERSLEY CITY
Manager: Neil Brydon
Nickname: The Steelers
Home Stadium: The Brambles, Cuttersley, S. Argerose
Capacity: 28,665
Overview: Heavily based in the steelworking areas of Cuttersley, the men in the white and red stripes have long been the working class rivals to the more middle-class Corinthians. The Cuttersley derby is one of the most fiercely contested in the country, comparable to Croxby-Speake or Avenell-AC.

ECCLESTON ORIENT
Manager: Gary Lewis
Nickname: Orient
Home Stadium: Deansholm Park, Eccleston, Co. Holmecaster
Capacity: 66,550
Overview: The men with the red rose of Eccleston on their chest will be hoping to blossom in the league. One feels, however, with an ageing squad, they might fall short of UICA qualification. Perhaps the cup?

GESTERTON
Manager: James Carlton
Nickname: The Tangerines
Home Stadium: Cricketers Park, Gesterton, Ambria
Capacity: 28,375
Overview: Gesterton will be in the unusual situation of not having to play big rivals Filby United this season; no matter, they'll be looking to pick up plenty of points through their well organised defence.

HARRICK TOWN
Manager: Ian Ross
Nickname: The Nailmen
Home Stadium: Charing Park, Harrick, Co. Holmecaster
Capacity: 24,830
Overview: The Nailmen will be homing to not get hammered in the division this season. Finishing above rivals Knaresholme would be nice, too.

HOLMECASTER CITY
Manager: Martin Pallister
Nickname: City or The Cottonmakers
Home Stadium: Eastern Road, Holmecaster, Co. Holmecaster
Capacity: 39,260
Overview: The nouveau riche of the league, Holmecaster will be hoping to have a good tilt at AC and the Speake teams for the title. Whether that happens is anyone's guess, frankly.

HUDSTONE UNITED
Manager: Stewart Bates
Nickname: United or The Stags
Home Stadium: The Southbridge Ground, Hudstone, Shearwood
Capacity: 30,010
Overview: Hudstone's finest are hoping that they can keep their heads above water; that could be difficult, considering their ground is right next to the River Holton.

KNARESHOLME
Manager: Mark Jones
Nickname: The Foresters
Home Stadium: Forest Gate, Knaresholme, Julerose
Capacity: 19,245
Overview: There's not much of a forest in the Smoke Belt, if we're honest. Never mind, though, because Knaresholme will be hoping to pull up some metaphorical trees this season.

LIODENCE CITY
Manager: Owen Calder
Nickname: The Owls
Home Stadium: Bearsfield Road, Liodence, W. Argerose
Capacity: 47,000
Overview: The Owls are wise; their owners are not. Player sales, and inferior replacements, could see Liodence at the wrong end of the table.

MACCABI PALLISTON
Manager: Maurice Cohen
Nickname: Maccabi
Home Stadium: Ambermarsh, Totton, Co. Palliston
Capacity: 33,285
Overview: Rather unsurprisingly given the name, the team of Palliston's Jewish community. Well-supported around the country; it's unusual to see a synagogue in Logria without at least one member of the congregation in a Maccabi shirt, and attending a game at Ambermarsh is seen as almost as much of a rite of passage as a bar (or bat) mitzvah.

PENTON ATHLETIC
Manager: Trevor Conley
Nickname: The Latics
Home Stadium: Kenwood Park, Penton, Co. Broome
Capacity: 26,460
Overview: Penton will be hoping to finish above rivals Brimcaster - and Sandcote, with a good enough run of results.

SANDCOTE COUNTY
Manager: Tom Locksley
Nickname: County
Home Stadium: The County Ground, Broome, Co. Broome
Capacity: 40,665
Overview: Originally a cricket team, Sandcote turned to football to keep their players fit in the winter. Now they're the biggest team in Central Logria. Will struggle to keep up with the title race, though.

SHELCASTER CITY
Manager: Steven Williams
Nickname: The Blue Stars
Home Stadium: Scaffold Park, Shelcaster, Shiel
Capacity: 47,835
Overview: Their unusual nickname comes from the blue star logo of the Shiel Ferry Company, whom the team were originally founded by. Will hope to challenge for a UICA place; failing that, they'll settle for finishing above their rivals upriver.

SPEAKE
Manager: Roger Carroll
Nickname: The Terns
Home Stadium: The Grange, Speake, Co. Speake
Capacity: 35,585
Overview: Named for the birds that spend their winters in the northwest of Logria, sadly Speake are not as good as Polar Islandstates. They do all right in the league though, and it's likely between them, Croxby, and AC for the title.

SWORDSBRIDGE
Manager: Richard Warfield
Nickname: The Swords
Home Stadium: Monks Road, Swordsbridge, Shiel
Capacity: 32,745
Overview: Swordsbridge hate Shelcaster. This is all you need to know. Also, they'll be confident of a top half finish.
Fans of the odd-shaped ball, brought to you by the unhinged mind behind Krytenia.
Please note the two nations have no IC connection.

² - Platform Moon was the only Eastern Sunrisian team on the first tier, but it got relegated this season. That being said, Vice City was a regular season champion at the second division, Sunrisian Championship B, so I assume it'd seem a better option that that one team that got relegated. They didn't get promoted at the play-offs, though.

San League Soccer

San League Soccer, the most prestigious soccer league in San Llera, just completed its second season. Here are the results, and a team-by-team analysis:

San League Soccer Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts

15 SLUC Soccer 28 3 4 21 8 32 −24 13

1 - Llara Llera - The first ever champions of San League Soccer defended their crown this year, as Llara Llera coasted to a surprisingly easy league championship, as they finished well ahead of 2nd-place rivals Llerana SC, with 68 points to their 57. The season looked to be a neck-and-neck race between the two for the title, but it was Llara Llera who dominated the start, with their resounding 3-0 victory at Llerana SC in the fourth matchday setting the tone for the rest of the season. Young San Lleran superstar Enric Bou was the centerpiece once again, as the silky midfielder easily led the league in assists and was runner-up for the golden ball with his unmatched playmaking ability. One of his frequent targets, Oscar Potus, was up their on the league leaderboard in goals despite Llara Llera not being anywhere near an offensive juggernaut, as Bou and Potus's chemistry continued to be unrivaled between any midfielder-forward combo in the SLS. Also starring was goalkeeper Marcel Fons, who somehow limited opposing teams to just 10 goals conceded in 28 matches, in what was the best defensive showing in San League Soccer's albeit brief history. And, of course, the defense was solid. Left back Hugo Serda played the best season he's played in years, while Sergi Batista continued to improve and Raul Atella became a staple next to Batista at center back. Antonio Durazno also won coach of the year to add to Llara Llera's trophy cabinet, and it is being reported that he is being considered for the vacant San Llera National Team head coaching spot. However, given his club's recent success, it seems doubtful he would want to leave. Llara Llera have won the championship for the second time in two tries, and will enter the Champions' Cup once again.

2 - Llerana SC - Llerana SC, the largest club in San Llera in terms of support and amount of money, put on some dazzling performances, but evidently not enough. The club scored a whopping 60 goals in a defensive-oriented league, 17 more than the second-highest goalscorer. They also produced some amazing ones. Paulo Masias's 35-yard rocket comes to mind, as does Andreu Mallet's silky chip. But as often as they showed moments of brilliance, Llerana SC's performance was anything but. They at times looked uninspired, uninterested, and dejected. Llerana SC may have scored the aforementioned two fantastic goals, but they also leaked two goals to the San Llera University of Archeology in a lackadaisical 2-2 draw. In addition to these problems, the midseason firing of legendary coach Jan Casallerus didn't help, and a slew of poor results immediately following led one clever newspaper to run the title, "Trainwreck in Llerana, Llerana SC a Trainwreck".

Perhaps this is an overexaggeration, as second place is not exactly bad, but Llerana SC was occasionally enjoying the thrill of a fast train ride, only for their recklessness to cause a terrible crash (OK, poor analogy, I know).

3 - Cremando Llera - Just behind Llerana SC, in third, were their polar opposite. Cremando Llera represents a very small town, with around 11 million fewer people living in it than Llerana. Their coach is the town judge, and they have an expectedly low budget. However, through good coaching from the judge and excellent chemistry, they have created a very formidable soccer team, which now is making its second Globe Cup appearance in a row. Leading the charge were the striking partners up top, Marcel and Octavio Bens, who are also brothers. They were a key element to this team with their goalscoring ability as well as their hold-up play, but they real key was in the defense. The Center back combo of Agustus Bensa and Israel Casabando were rock solidall year long, and earned the title of perhaps the two most underrated players in the entire league. Their efforts, along with those of veteran goalkeeper Raul Mesita, helped them concede only 19 goals all season. The judge, we hear, is very focused on defense, and he's hoping that this time, Cremando Llera can make a lightly deeper run in the Globe Cup.

4 - Famila Llano - The absolutely huge shock of the season was the play of Familia Llano, a team that previously could barely stay out of last place. Now, the team made up entirely of people from one family (that of the great leader) have snagged a spot n the Globe Cup. This was partly due to the discovery of Carles Mestre being Alejandro Llano's third cousin, and his subsequent transfer. Said transfer turned a shockingly good defensive team into a shockingly good team, but it doesn't take any of the surprise out of how good they were on defense. Credit goes to otherwordly keeper Adam Llano and converted center back Ricardo Llano for an amazing season which came out of the blue.

5 - Chell SC - Chell SC finished third last season, but their fall out of a Globe Cup spot was entirely to be expected. The team, over the offseason, had lost star defensive midfielder Hector Fonda, who was the key cog in their success. Now, they ha some talent, but were nothing but a shell of their former selves. Chell SC spent some of that transer money on Jan Capo, who produced decently enough, and Enric Viktorio, who went down to a very unfortunate injury early in the season. The Chellands, as they are called, were a good team - they scored plenty of goals with Capo and speedy winger Pelechamchas. But they just didn't have the defense, or the stamina, to grind out that fourth spot.

6 - Pantans - Pantans, a club that seems to enjoy unsuccessfully overhauling their roster, have had one constant in their roster as of late: Carles Mestre. Now, with the national team striker being lured away by Familia Llano midseason, Pantans are, for once, in need of major changes in their roster. Before last season, Pantans gave away some of their better players and spent money on new ones. Now, before this season, they repeated that. The new players they acquired, Eduard Mayner and Marc Abello, played perfectly well, but they weren't enough to make up for Mestre's loss. A once promising season, in the end, saw Pantans stagger into sixth place, five points out of a Globe Cup spot.

7 - Patria Poble - Another team gunning for a Globe Cup spot that ultimately came up short was Patria Poble. The club, who replicated last season's seventh place finish, have a lot of talent at the top, but not much else. Star players such as Antoni Belles, Alekandro Turro, and Eric Tallo give fans the impression that they are stacked, but Patria Poble simply don't have much beyond that. The defense from players like Belles, Tallo, and goalkeeper Josep Quince was solid, but a lack of options up top plagued them. Patria Poble struggled to score goals throughout the season, and a few too many 0-0 draws against inferior teams disallowed them from competing for the Globe Cup.

8 - Amici Llano - In a weird San League Soccer season, the better of the two Llano clubs was far inferior, losing both games and finishing four spots behind their rivals. And it wasn't even a bad season for Amici. They were average as usual, and finished right in the middle of the table where they usually do. In fact, it was an impressive season, considering that neither them, nor La Familia, got the massive referee favoritism they are accustomed to.

9 - Camp Pende - The thing about Camp Pende is that they are often atrocious, but they occasionally unearth an otherwordly talent and play very well. This season was a mixture of those two secenarios, as everybody on the team played terribly except for one. That one was striker Dwight, and he despite his team giving up 47 goals, he single-handedly won them 10 games. Unfortunately for Camp Pende, Dwight will certainly be poached by a bigger club before next season. They hope they can unearth another Dwight come that time.

10 - SLUP Soccer - The San Llera University of Physiology, unsurprisingly, has some very fit and well-coached players, at least for a university. However, their talent just doesn't stack up with most of the other big boys. But a breakout season from midfielder Lorenzo Jara lifted them to the top 10 of the league, in what was a satisfying season for their small but passionate fanbase. Although it would have been better if they weren't shocked by SLUA in the University Games.

11 - AS Mantegapa - AS Mantegapa are a mid-table side that are always looking to jump a few spots and becoming a top-half table side. Unfortunately for them this season, they jumped the wrong way, and are dangerously close to the dungeon of San League Soccer. The loss of underrated center back Enric Viktorio hurt a lot for them, as they gave up a few more goals than they would have liked. And Martini Saragosa just didn't have many options to pass to, besides the freakish Chanista Chanista. Saragosa and Chanista formed a formidable attacking partnership, but there just wasn't much else.

12 - Porta Llora - Porta Llora was certainly able to score goals, as the emergence of Llerana SC castout Deric Porla helped them to a very solid 37 goals on the season. However, the defense was a trainwreck after the soap opera surrounding Gaston Valera's dispute with management. Said drama led to Valera boycotting the rest of the season, and the lack of depth in the Porta Llora defense wasted Porla and exciting youngster Adam Gasca's performances, as they finished twelfth in the league.

13 - SLUL Soccer - It was speculated that SLUL would struggle to replace Gerard Quella, and that was very correct.

14 - SLUA Soccer - SLUA Soccer may have had a poor season, but it left fans happy as they went on a surprise run to win the University Games.

15 - SLUC Soccer - SLUC was very bad, as expected.

SEMARLUUNDIK PREMARLIGAEN 2017/18 - LANDMARK THIRTIETH SEASON - SPONSORED BY BARATILLO
Krsthaven win their second title in a row, but this time only by two points as FC Jansberg finish closely behind them. The three-man strike force employed in the closing games of Jakob Lindesfarne, David Wik and Niko Kekkonen performed exceptionally well, with Krsthaven's midfield also being undoubtedly the best in the league. New signing Iiro Mihaylov had the joint most assists in the league, whilst Koizumi Mikel and Sergio Mora protected the defence well. FC Jansberg's new signings performed well too, with goalkeeper Kojo Boakye-Yiadom, young centre-backs Peter Svensson and Said El-Khadr and attacking midfielder Inzazi Dvulu playing well, but fans were a little unpleased with Guillaume Chanoure taking a while to settle in. Injury setbacks ruled Jacob Zajon out for a while, and they'll have Matjas Gold joining them next season.

Molsbik Arkjet and FC Nuholm performed exceptionally well beyond standards, with Arkjet finishing third and Nuholm clinching the final Globe Cup spot by two points. Yannick Simeone and Demba Cisse respectively were both influential for their sides, with Simeone the third highest goalscorer in the league and Cisse joint most assists in the league. Eikborg Club will be disappointed to miss out on a Globe Cup, but the consolation being it was only by two points. Kangemark Sport did well beyond their standards too, finishing sixth, whilst Sporting Saint Adrensburg had a strong season in seventh.

However, the season was a major disappointment for Jonathan Jantev's FC Kolberg. With three of their strikers (Carmelo Nkutu, Jetro Wijnaldum and Emanuel Zapata) out for most of the season, defensive problems and a while to settle in was their downfall. Despite signing some super players, they didn't gel until near the end as they finished on 49 points. FC Matovallanen finished below them, with Lusenhagen below them, whilst it was also very disappointing for Fransborg set Njilkaer, who despite Leo Cremonesi's electric goalscoring form, they finished 11th.

FC York did superb to stay up and finish 12th, with Sporting Matrolvik finishing in 13th, and Adjurgen surviving by only one point. Molsbik Kadet (finally) and Eikland Sport are the teams going down, whilst Copenbrok Klub and Arkrau Klub are promoted back into the Premarligaen at the first attempt.

Church League Associated Godlands

(See this for background)

After much speculation and much demand, the government of Associated Godlands has finally given in and created a domestic soccer league, with different teams being different churches. What follows is a team-by-team preview:

Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Notable Players*:
GK Pope Francis - 78 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Solid keeper, but his progressive "sweeper keeper" style can get out of hand
LB Matthew - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
CB Peter - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
CB John - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
RB Judas Iscariot - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Seems like a loyal teammate
LW Martin Luther - 531 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Dared to question authority, and now the team is better for it
CDM Barack Obama - 53 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Totally not secretly a Muslim
CAM The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - 2015 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - The best passer, shooter, tackler, and defender on the team. In fact, he is the best on the team at every tangible and intangible quality that's been conceived of
RW Martin Luther King Jr. - 86 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Dared to question authority
ST Tim Tebow - 27 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Very loyal and a hard worker, but lacks any talent whatsoever
ST Mother Teresa - 104 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Also a hard worker, Mother Teresa has a lot more talent than her striking partner
GK Judas - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
GK Bartholomew - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
LB Thomas - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
CB Philip - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
CB James - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
RB Simon - Very old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Loyal teammate
LW Pope Benedict XVI - 88 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Coming out of retirement to help Associated Godlands win the World Cup
CDM Billy Graham - 96 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Very coachable player, but also full of team spirit
CAM Joel Osteen - 52 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Another passionate but coachable player
RW Chuck Norris - 75 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - He doesn't worship God. God worships him. (The fact that he doesn't worship God is also the reason that he's on the bench)
ST George W. Bush - 68 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Passionate and loud
ST Mike Huckabee - 59 years old - Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - Another passionate player
Predicted finish: 1st

Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ B Team
Notable Players:
Ryan
Ryan's friends
Ryan and his friends go to church regularly and espouse hateful viewpoints, so God likes them. However, they aren't quite as good as the A-Team players.
Predicted finish: 2nd

Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ C Team
Notable Players:
Sarah
Sarah's friends
Sarah and her friends are like the B Team, but they are women.

Congratulations to the Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for their victory! Also congrats to the Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ B Team for their second-place finish and the Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ C Team for third place. They would have made the Globe Cup, but the fascist heathen organization of the UICA has forbade such an entry. God hates the UICA.

The league also had a corresponding youth league. Here are those results:
